There are honestly 2 thoughts I have for this change and I'm not sure where they intersect so maybe someone can help fill in the gaps along the way if I get it started. Instead of giving her something overwhelmingly positive and meaningful (i.e. Billy's recent changes), what she got almost feels underserved and half-baked. It's like they gave her the recent Sadako change which was more aimed at promoting one style of play (the one everyone likes chase-oriented).
So, are they limiting killer playstyles and abilities with a purpose (like the ones that make people big upset; instant-kill abilities). Are instant-kill abilities coming under fire from the dev team? Does this show they have the intent to shift away from those types of abilities in favor of more chase? Should PH and Tombstone Myers be on some sort of watchlist?

I received word about the new changes through a series of highly encrypted messages sent by @AbsolutGrndZer0. I'll paste my response here as well. These are my initial lunch break thoughts after going through the notes the first time.

The Pig
In a (truly) shocking turn of events, we have decided to buff (here we go) The Pig (Run far far away and hide Amanda). More specifically, we have made improvements to both The Pig’s Ambush and Crouch abilities (Good so far). The goal with these changes is to make her Ambush and stealth abilities more useful and make her less reliant on her Reverse Bear Traps (-Karma, [Insert Fallout "everyone disliked that"]) (Ngl starting to get me a little worried).
Ambush:
- Increased Ambush duration to 2.3 seconds (was 2 seconds) (Okay, I wanted to see it longer, more in line with SnD, so I can get behind the slight number bump)
- Decreased Ambush successful attack cooldown to 2.7 seconds (was 3 seconds) (Nothing too game, breaking. Definitely on the safe side for an initial change)
- Decreased Ambush missed attack cooldown to 1.5 seconds (was 2 seconds) (I like this change, I was going to be harder on the values, but honestly it's a decent start)
Crouch:
- Increased crouched movement speed to 3.8m/s (was 3.6m/s) (So, less than JMFs value, but we'll have to see how JMF gets changed)
- Decreased time taken to crouch to 1 second (was 1.3 seconds) (This is a good change)
Reverse Bear Traps:
- The Pig can no longer see the auras of Jigsaw Boxes (This one's a tough one to take on the chin for me; Auras in this game are very useful)
- Reverse Bear Traps now have a base timer of 3 minutes (was 2.5 minutes) (Will have to see how this change interacts with some of her add-ons. I hesitate to classify this as more second-chance opportunities making their way into the game, but an extra 30 seconds will certainly make the difference between getting a kill and not on Piggy. I think we've all had a game where it really comes down to those precious seconds on RBT's timer. Not a big fan of this change overall just because a lot can happen in those extra 30 seconds. Will Gears be more sought after to combat this?)
Some of these changes make me a little nervous, but It sounds like she'll get through these changes alright for the most part. A lot of this is what the community has been asking for, which has made some add-ons redundant (which devs have acknowledged in their notes), and in need of probably more than just a numbers change looking down the line. The aura change and the increase in RBT timer i'm not a big fan of off as of now. That being said, there are a lot of good changes, and safe-by-the-numbers changes, mixed in here with the bad (IMO). It'll be interesting to see if they'll only adjust the numbers on her add-ons or if she'll have an add-on rework in the future.
I'm also kinda glad they didn't mess with her grunts and squeals in the process of tweaking Ambush.

A minor Buff to her Ambush and a HUGE NERF TO REVERSE BEAR TRAPS.
I was a bit confused at your reply at first, but I think you're referring to the recent dev notes? I'll post them up here cause that's some big pig news. I've included a version with my own personal notes in the reply below this post.
The Pig
In a shocking turn of events, we have decided to buff The Pig. More specifically, we have made improvements to both The Pig’s Ambush and Crouch abilities. The goal with these changes is to make her Ambush and stealth abilities more useful and make her less reliant on her Reverse Bear Traps.
Ambush:
- Increased Ambush duration to 2.3 seconds (was 2 seconds)
- Decreased Ambush successful attack cooldown to 2.7 seconds (was 3 seconds)
- Decreased Ambush missed attack cooldown to 1.5 seconds (was 2 seconds)
Crouch:
- Increased crouched movement speed to 3.8m/s (was 3.6m/s)
- Decreased time taken to crouch to 1 second (was 1.3 seconds)
Reverse Bear Traps:
- The Pig can no longer see the auras of Jigsaw Boxes
- Reverse Bear Traps now have a base timer of 3 minutes (was 2.5 minutes)
The Pig can now cover 15% more ground with her Ambush attack, making it harder for Survivors to break away from the loop. We’ve also made missed attacks less punishing to encourage using Ambush more often and updated her successful attack cooldown to match the normal Basic Attack cooldown. Improving her crouch makes it quicker and easier to set up for an Ambush and allows her to spend less time sneaking up on unsuspecting Survivors.
A handful of Add-Ons that decreased her missed attack cooldown or decreased her crouch time have had their effects reduced to compensate as their effects are now part of her base kit.

A new custom Terror Radius and Theme for my ongoing DBD theme series will be uploaded on YT soon. Around the end of last year, I decided to take on this series as a fun composition project to make custom fanmade terror radius and chase music for killers without any. The first of the series was Piggy, and now I'll be adding Freddy to that list with the addition of his custom theme, Welcome To My Nightmare.
Edited to add-in a link to it below.
@GeneralV Freddy mains rejoice. The devs might not be giving him any love, but I have lol. 😁😅

Bro i'd love to play with/against you, Xern, and some of these other fine forum aficionados. I've only faced some of our Knight members so far and they were not very friendly...🤣

All time fav to play against... hmmm... that jabroni The Oni-Macaroni. Unless it's a pig that's down to boop.
Myers up there too... Jump scare Myers on Midwich is just *chef's kiss* Magnifico.

Trying to have a normal match has been a nightmare.
Even with Enduring, Dissolution, and Blood Favor there's so many resources for survivor to use frivolously it's like pulling teeth just getting two sacrifices.
I've been using Zanshin Tactics in addition too the perks I've previously mentioned (occasionally switching Blood Favor for Ruin) and the only map that didn't bombard my screen with yellow was Midwich😢
I don't want to be that kind of killer that spams Mary's letter, but it's looking like my mailbox is about to erupt.
Sounds like it's time to read her letters.
-
Blight has Nurse DNA in him. No matter how much they chip away at his power with nerfs, he'll always be a top-tier menace.
Also, no tl;dr?
-
Because some people don't play to care about finding out every little detail and counterplay for every killer and their changes. Some also don't play to get super good even after x amount of hours and probably won't get better and that's okay too.
To paraphrase a quote from a modern-day philosopher.
That's the way she goes.
-
Not much rattles me in-game but damn If I don't feel like going to war with said player when that happens. Like, that's cold-blooded. I'll be altruistic. I got no issue going toe-to-toe with the killer and dying for my teammates... but not if you're gonna be on that ######### up ######### ass rat #########.
-
World peace
-
None ideally. That being said, Slipknot and Iron Maiden are cool.
-
I take the chase and try to do what I can for the team. In that situation, my aim for counterplay becomes positioning and loop/run the killer as long as possible so teammates can crank out gennies. Calm spirit...😖

Same vibes

Ace in the OG cast
Take your pick between Cheryl or Quentin on licensed. I'm pretty split on those two. Yoichi, Ada, and Ripley are on the outskirts for contenders. No comment on Alan as of yet...

When the 4th member of your squad is on and you gotta back out and pick em up. Other than that, double what Dreamnomad said.

Same here. I can never get enough of them and because of that, I'm oddly always out of them... Never have that problem with Drop-Leg tho and it's my other favorite of his.

The DLC is firmly reminding me that Alan Wake 1 has a remaster on Switch that I should probably pick up sometime.
Portable Alan Wake sounds like a great decision. One of these days I might revisit it and see how my 360 copy holds up on X1.

I can't be the only one who had never even heard of Alan Wake prior to his release announcement.
Just wait until you learn there are 3 games even. 😅. Tbf its introduction was Ps3/Xbox 360 Era which is increasingly becoming distant.
-
Can we get another Q&A to address the direction of these changes?
-
What is going on at BHVR HQ? They've been pretty consistent with the events. Even if they were busy making a new game mode and tons of changes that are under wraps, you'd at least think they'd keep enough man power to continue the Lunar event. Dragons are also 100000000x cooler and more interesting design-wise than the most recent animals. Sorry dogs, rats, and bunnies.

Wasn’t about the Alan Wake Chapter, at all.
Many people seemed to be hyped over AW, but it just felt like wasting a Survivor roster spot, as there are so many far more appealing and worthwhile options that (imo, imo) would have garnered way more enthusiasm and hype from the playerbase than freaking Alan Wake lol.
My friend and I completely agree. We were saying a similar thing the other day. I'm happy for the fans, but there are so many more iconic horror characters from games/tv that I'd have personally expected that it makes me scratch my head some.

Totally agree with the ambush vault, it would make her more of a threat at loops but with mind game potential from both sides.
It would be pretty slick if she could. I'd give her just that and some add-ons basekit like JMF, straps, and grease, and she'd be in the right spot imo.

You are baiting, right?
A 3-man hatch escape at one gen left, when you worked hard to get the upper hand of the match, finally gaining the advantage, only to get it robbed from you by the use of a single item. That was one of the most stupid, frustrating, demoralizing situations in DBD history.
I would have switched to Spirit and popped an Ebony or Green Mori as soon as the key was in the lobby so I wouldn't have to worry about that exact scenario happening due to the killer choosing to be underprepared by bringing a pen to a gunfight. Not act like I was owed something because golly gee I almost had them. Don't see it, but afraid someone might last second switch? Okay, equip the Mori before loading in.
-
She's a failed experiment and will always be a shitstain on the game's killer design history. Bloated kit, stacking ability, free status effects... I find it amusing how people will act and throw around the word balance or unhealthy in every other scenario in this game, yet completely and conveniently ignore everything about its meaning when it comes to SM and her bullshit. Remove her or just give her the Freddy Special.
-
It got removed because the player base is soft like Charmin. No surprise that there's been a continual dumbing down of gameplay.
-
All the obvious buffs have been stated already (rightly so), so I'll throw in one from left field.
Make it so she can vault pallets and windows mid-Ambush attack just like Wesker.
Pig can now also replenish missing traps, but it requires her to do some in-game action to recycle a used trap.
Ambush lasts 20% longer. Not quite as long as SnD, but enough to give her dash a much-needed boost.

Yeah, supposed to mimic human screams. I only ever sometimes faintly hear it when he's close, but that could just be me. I'm usually scrambling for my life at that point.

They'd have to change Trickster's chase theme to sound like actual music first. But nope, guess the music-themed killer just gets blares and screeches.

I do think he's fun, but there are aspects that hold back that fun.
Teleporting mid chase so that I emerge from a locker right in front of a survivor and seeing them double back is fun. Going from one end of the map to the other to another in 5 seconds flat in nightfall is a lot of fun. Reading someone's aura far away and being right on top of them in 2-4 seconds flat is definitely fun. Even leaving your remnant at a loop, trying to position it in the best spot and waiting for the perfect moment to teleport back is pretty fun.
How long it takes to get out of locked lockers does hinder the fun a bit, but I'll admit that one feels like a nesceasry evil. The thing that really holds him back in terms of fun is maps lacking lockers in areas of interest.
Big agree.
The Freakin' tele locker grabs man. It amazes me how I can still get these grabs pretty often to this day with Dredge alone and no other killer. Love when a match starts and right when you teleport to your very 1st locker you see that surv aura inside the locker and it does his bad ass animation of you grabbing them and manifesting out of the locker with them on your shoulder. SNIPING the first hook in the opening moments of the match. I always wonder what's going through the survs mind when it happens because I am always shooketh. Istg it'll be just out of the blue like " Oh, Hello There." Besides being able to even do it, just being able to do that more than occasionaly makes him 10/10 on the fun meter for me.
The only thing that would take him from Fun to Super Happy Dredge Fun Time would be the addition of more lockers, and that's not even the worst restraint to have compared to most of the original roster 😅

So, I don't have a recording of it, but let me share my experience:
First (and probably only) survivor trial of the day I got The Pale Rose. I was really excited for a second because it is one of the two maps in the game that I still enjoy, so I thought it was going to be a good match.
And what do I get?
1- Tunneling Huntress
2- Mikaela disconnects before her first hook
3- Yui farms me
Welcome to modern DBD, I suppose. All that we were missing was a ruined reworked map and a new "hold W pre-drop everything" killer.
Then we would have the full package.

Survivors need to adapt.
At this point "adapt" for survs is just a code word for "pick out a hook and throw yourself on it."
