It's power is a bit downplayed when reading it through text versus actually playing against it. I find myself having similar issues and I have yet to read much real solid advice on the topic that translates from paper to actual gameplay. I already look behind me, head on a swivel in a chase.
One of the better tips i've seen is to fully commit to the dispel to avoid getting Killer Instinct on you. Shift + W gameplay and LOS blockers reign supreme, but their effectiveness relies on the resources around you in chase. Play his hallucinations like a PH box where the best time to dispel/solve is when killer is preoccupied with another. The problem here is he passively sheds remnants, so you have to really stay on top of this, and sometimes dispelling isn't necessarily always the best solution because if it's in a part of the map that has gens already done then it's better to make the killer use it instead since it gets max 4 on map at base level.
Anyone will read, oh so I need to be hit 3 times for UVX down? Not necessarily as they can just bounce it off the ground or wall when you're injured and you'll be left thinking...Where was the 3rd hit, when did it happen? I don't think it's ever taken 3 full shots, hell even the 1 splash is enough on injured surv with status effect. The counterplay I've read about this killer is inconsistent at best so far. This killer is just confusing, fast as ######### (has no trouble keeping up with refined serum), and just has a lot going on for it rn with the instant TP, passive remnant-generating ability, and a generous UVX in its kit.

Then you'd be running babysitter
-
Proabably the surv role because not only are you dealing with killer, but also your teammates which can be a pain both solo and in SWF. Noobs stress me tf out sometimes with their shenanigans. That's okay tho cause I stress my SWF out with some my antics. Especially if I want the smoke for all 5 gens.

Haha, it is good to remember our beloved Goblin Quentin.
Funnily enough this screenshot was taken because of a thread here, asking us to post a "selfie" of our characters. I don't mean to brag, but I think mine was the best one :)
Indeed. He was my OG and sole surv for a long time, so that Goblin face will always holds a special place in my heart. It is a good screenshot. You can see the lack of sleep in his eyes.

Our assessment and everything that was said in the write-up was right on the money. Very grounded logic in how the RBT timer change was overkill. We saved Pig from the Slaughterhouse.

Myers. Looked so bland from a Survivor perspective, guy just stares and slashes/stabs. Then I purchased him out of boredom and tried Scratched Mirror and can’t play anyone else now.
Love me some Jump Scare Myers. Myers on Midwich is such a scream.
This is my reaction after my 6th sense detects a Myers in-game.

It is certainly better than the PTB. I think Pig and Huntress shouldn't have been changed, but at least some of the feedback was taken into consideration.
At first I didn't really like the new chapter, but I've changed my mind. I am looking forward to playing it.
I am of a similar stance. Cautiously optimistic about the changes i've seen bar from a few.

It's so damn satisfying to hit 2-3 survivors at once, the power of stealth perks with Pyramid Head... I'm excited for the Unknown's new perk Unforeseen, it's about to make for some cheeky plays.
But yeah, PH is one of the most mechanically rewarding killers in the game once you get the groove of his PotD. Definitely more on the stressful side because of how punishing it is to miss shots, but extremely satisfying when you get cool shots.
Now you got me excited for it cause that perk is for when you're feeling up to no good. I like Dark Devotion already, that perk is fun and underrated. So, naturally, I can't wait to test Unforeseen out on a few builds for him. Wonder how it'd be with Plaything + Pentimento, and a flex. Gonna need more build slots...

Vommy Mommy is getting added to my list, but me and her have a love-hate thing going on right now. Love using her but hate that crouch tech is effective enough to get an eye roll from me. 😑

I used to hate playing as the hag. It was due to the whole corn situation on the cold wind farm. I still played her now and enjoy it.
Some years ago, I faced a Hag on Coldwind and brought in a Dark Mist, possibly even had a friend with New Moon Bouquet. By the end, I was on death hook in a heated chase that the Hag and I had going back and forth through the cornfield. She hit me and almost got me down, but I ended up eluding her using the corn and making enough distance to get out of the gate. Hag sent me a message that read, “I’m not happy.” I said, “Well which one are you then?”

Pyramid Head used to be my worst killer. His ranged attack was difficult for me to adjust because of how slow it is to charge up and appear. Once I finally adjusted to his PotD, I learned how to do his flicks and I basically play him M2 only so that I can learn how to hit different survivors, all having their own forms of movement.
He's pretty much my second main now, but I'm still learning him.
I was the same way. Ate a lot of humble pie trying to learn PH to the point of almost giving him up multiple times. My love for the series kept me wanting to learn though. Loaded up with aura perks out the wazoo and still couldn't hit a surv with fancy feet. PoTD feels so frustrating but eventually rewarding to use once you can start getting some consistency with your hits. Survs make it a proper pain in the ass of course because it's so telegraphed, but that's what adds to the enjoyment. Also, the fact he could down multiple survs under hook, but that's a tale for another post.

Huntress on console was a surprise, I expected it to be God awful... but I could actually hit hatchets fairly decently.... yeah I'm not winning any competitions, but it's actually not too bad at all, and a lot of fun to try for long throws.
Another was Singularity on console... I actually posted a bit of a fit about how hard it was to tag survivors on console... but as time has gone on, I've realised I was trying to play them like a generator monitor killer rather than a chase killer, and I wasn't using my ability to shoot the survivor grom my hand to chase after them. Once I got the Singularity mindset down, HUX is actually pretty awesome...
Honestly, I'm always so surprised when I face a good huntress and they are on console. I give props to them because I gave up real quick once I figured out the aiming just is not for me...
I feel like it's easy to play Larry and get in a habit of spamming meatballs everywhere and take away from focusing where you need it to be

I am honestly not sure. I think without the auras, my "Perkless Pig" is going to be much harder. I even tried it on the PTB and got rolfstomped in the beginning with everyone getting their traps off before I even managed to find a single survivor patrolling just generators. The only reason I managed to win in the end was because some of the survivors played dumb and one disconnected. Might try it swapping Crate of Gears for Rule Set No. 2.
Otherwise, not sure. Maybe Discordance, Scourge Hook: Monstrous Shrine, Sloppy Butcher and Surveillance, maybe with Jigsaw's Sketch and Jigsaw's Annotated Plan?
Hate to hear that about your perkless pig build. Here's to hoping it gets a v2.

Curious what everyone has in mind for their builds after the update? I personally just enjoy playing aura and other fun add-onless builds (I don’t really like using add-ons in my builds unless I feel I need to against a SWF otherwise I’m a hoarder).
Good question.
I'll probably still rock Bamboozle, BBQ/Discordance, Corrupt, and a Flex like coup/mindbreaker like as my main lineup. I like corrupt for early game over lethal on my pig, but that's just personal preference. My second build runs Pentimento and Plaything and two flex slots and runs entirely on creating side quests for survs during the trial. For example here's a hex build i'll run.
Hex: Plaything
Hex: Pentimento
Flex: Corrupt or Hex: Devour Hope
Flex: Hex: Face The Darkness (eh eh eh)
For the add-ons, ofc Grease and JMF will be worth trying. I'll probably also use my favorite Rules # 2 and Video Tape.

nah im just repeating what everyone that was mad about the first change was saying, everyone her was saying “who cares about the box aura, its the traps not being lethal anymore that was the problem” the devs listened and no apparently its the other way around now? This community can never be happy
We're happy with this compromise and that the devs listened. Our group's message has and will always remain the same. Can't wait for these to make it to the live server. I hope and encourage more people pick up Amanda after these changes.

Hooray! This is very good I can live without the auras it was the 30 seconds that really bothered me. And given our post does not exist at the moment with the only copy being here where lets face it most people probably don't look in here if they are not a Pig main. Great job everyone this is a big achievement. As @radiantHero23 said the toxic scream builds still exist and we lost our aura boxes.
In regards to the scream build they either din't want to change it as they get money off people buying Xeno for UW etc or they did not have time to do it because there is a new killer and survivor and a map which will likely take priority.
Either way we achieved something which is what is important good job team!
Well said

Yeah, that Timer increase made literally no sense and was pretty lackluster, I'm appreciative that they listened to the complaints about it. 😪
Yeah, expect the scream build to be used a lot more now since seeing our own Boxes isn't a thing now.😬 And I didn't get a notification. 😮
After seeing Mandy's post today, I am hopeful that this is only the beginning of the buffs our lady Amanda will receive. If there are any major changes then they will come at a later date, which means they could already be queuing her up to get something bigger later on down the line. My biggest concern though is if all the signs point to a partial rework of her character's abilities to fit their current vision for the game.

Even if you figure they can easily pay the cost for patches, then the problem is that Sony at the very least still requires patch APPROVAL. This means for example that when another game (one of the richest publishers in the industry) had a recent emergency patch to fix game breaking bugs with their latest DLC (that extended to the base game) the Playstation patch was on a two day delay. Was this the developer's choice? No, but they had no choice, as this was how Sony does things.
It comes with the territory of having games to patch on console and PC I guess. Also a wider critique of the modern gaming industry. Sure, they might not want to pay the stacks and go through the formalities of the entire console manufacturer's quality certification and approval process when they can go hog wild on Steam and put out as many good or bad updates they want with this what's good for the goose is good for the gander mentality. I'm still going to use my right as a consumer on console to voice dissatisfaction because these companies are so comfortable now choosing to have the benefits of the console population, but not consider their needs or limitations when pushing out patches on their multi-platform games.
Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox community going through this right now. They've been going through it for weeks after recent updates messed with their saves, some having to start over their runs and even losing entire cross-save data until the devs can sort out these bugs they created from the past 2 hotfixes.

Im gonna assume its probably because shes an absolute monster at lower levels. Newer players dont really know what to do with a party hat on, and they just explode lol
I'm inclined to agree. After looking at a few years of pick rate data I also believe she and Freddy share a common factor of just having such a small dedicated base of players after being out this long that they know their character and so it's like lambs to slaughter if MMR matches a clever experienced pig against noobs.

Is it just me or does it also make you guys depressed, how oblivious they seem to be to her power level?
Nerfs that dont fix anything are implemented with buffs that do little if survivors play correctly.
It just makes me want to increase my hour count in Elden Ring even more.
I found the patch notes amusing at the same part you did. I would be very surprised if these changes pushed her anywhere near the top of anything.
These changes leave me with more questions than answers, but i'm proud of what our collective unified front was able to accomplish in pushing back on what could have easily been a much worse nerf for her.

Well... that was not expected...
So we still lose the Jigsaw box auras... but we haven't got the extra 30s on the timer...
It is curious that screams have been left unchecked, I was really expecting that to get nerf batted... I suppose your average Pig can't really get head pops just by patrolling jigsaw boxes, though nothing to stop a Pig following someone off hook and doing it (though that is throwing the game), but the more viable strategy of using screams to do it remains unchecked.... I guess BHVR want screams to remain a thing I suppose.
I feel like there is gonna be backlash for this, so I suppose we all should stick to our same rhetoric really... but overall, I'll accept this line up of changes.
EDIT: Just for interest... I have added your names as part of an edit as I forgot originally... do you guys get a notification when I do this? Or not?
I got the notification it says drinks at the local watering hole
