Big no my man, sure the perk could become more usefull, but this is way too much of an effect, removing pallet saves is just not a good idea.

Pallet saves can't be left as is...

Be in a duo/group on comms. Have Windows of Opportunity equipped. Run to pallet before getting downed. Never get hooked until there are no more pallets left on the map or every survivor is slugged*

*Assuming that there are no Unbreakables, Flip-Flops, Power Struggles, Plot Twists, or Boon: Exponentials

The killer has NO counter (beyond the first minute of the match, IF they brought Hex: Blood Favor)

Hex: Blood Favor. Down the survivor and block the pallet they are under.

Sure, this works for the FIRST survivor you down, and ONLY IF you can down the survivor in the first 60-90 seconds of the match before Blood Favor's cleansed.

This "counter" is as effective as saying use H:NOED to counter gen rushing. The gens still get rushed...

  • There needs to be SOMETHING for killers to counter pallet stun saves, other than either walk away, find a new survivor, and hope they don't also go down under a pallet or eat the stun, break the pallet, and start the chase all over.

My idea so far has been a micro-Blood Favor that is not strong enough to be a hex, but has similar effects.

For 3 seconds after downing a survivor, pallets within 4 meters are blocked by the Entity. The perk then goes on cooldown for 90 seconds.

Maybe replace the long cooldown with a tradeoff, like increases pallet stun duration by 60% / 55% / 50%.

Or maybe the tradeoff could be what @Grigerbest said: Instead of an instant wiggle it only partially fills the bar, but still by a significant amount.

They really need to make another meta shake up soon and rework like 30-40 perks altogether. The overwhelming majority of survivor perks are bad and it's no surprise people gravitate towards the same perks again and again.

You can shake a jar of oil and water, but eventually they will separate. Good perks will rise to the top. The rest will sink.

The only way to see more perks from the bottom of the list is to give players an extra perk slot that can only be used to equip one of the 10 least used perks.

The 10 least used perks can be updated every chapter / mid-chapter. Some of those perks will rise up out of the list for simply being picked as the extra, but that means the few perks that remain at the very bottom chapter after chapter can be looked at and buffed/changed accordingly.

  • Also, while you're at it, please remove the undisclosed mechanic that reduces skill check frequency for perks like Rookie Spirit, Stakeout, Autodidact, Corrective Action, and Fogwise.

Yes! It's a thing. It's subtle, but still noticeable...

Pretty sure the game kicks you if you afk for too long (especially as killer)

IIRC it's supposed to be some type of measure to prevent people from botting to lower their MMR. Sadly it means that you need to chase them out when they have no intention of finishing the game.

If that IS an actual feature, it needs to be disabled if all the gens have been completed.

Might just have to find something else to occupy yourself. Like when I get slugged and left to bleed out I'll fold and put away clothes, or do the dishes.

Imagine you get back from that and the game says you disconnected.

It does not matter WHAT the player was doing. Especially if the match is over!

  • I did not leave the match.

I said I changed my HDMI input feed to my monitor from the Xbox to the PC and then back.

I DID NOT TOUCH MY ETHERNET CABLE!

  • @radiantHero23 said:

Maybe not switching your hdmi is the solution? Does it happen often in relation to you doing this?

As you said, the match was over. Why not wait the last few seconds before checking discord?

You mean wait around for another minute and half for the Bill to get bored of spamming loud noises and leave, like the rest of the survivors? No thanks.

Play for fun and hooks not the win you'll enjoy it more.

Just about every single game I'm seeing deja vu and brand new part so gens are flying.

So if I win great and if I don't who cares?

Play fun killers and don't go near the exit gate at end game.

It's hilarious when they do fast vaults or jump in and out lockers in a desperate pathetic attempt to get you to chase them so they can t-bag and run out.

I am playing for fun and hooks, but "hooks" implies more than ONE, and only getting 2 chases before gens are done is NOT fun!

  • @Annso_x said:

NOED gives you 4%, Bloodlust and a bunch of other add-ons exist. Also, MFT is getting nerfed in the same chapter killers will get a new haste perk in.

Finally, killer is in a really good spot right now and if you only get 1 hook before gens get done it's probably because you're trying to play Hag as chase killer.

    Okay? And? So?

I could play ANY 115% movespeed as an M1 killer. The Hag's addon makes her FASTER than an M1 killer, by 2.5%, which is STILL 0.5% slower than the survivor who doesn't have to pay lots and lots of Bloopoints EVERY time they want to use Made For This.

All I play is M1 killers. My SBMMR should be balanced around that playstyle. It's not!

  • If survivors want to run 3% faster, they only need to use 1 perk slot and be injured.

If the killer wants to move 2.5% faster, they have to play Hag, spend 10's of thousands of bloodpoints to get Waterlogged Shoe, use 1 addon slot, and give up half their killer power.

    ----

I have 3 chase perks equipped (Enduring, Brutal, and Bamboozle) and STILL have to spend MINUTES getting a down. Meanwhile, it's all undone in SECONDS by a survivor with For the People and Buckle Up. TWO survivor perks are 20x stronger than THREE killer perks, in regards to time. No agency for killer, at all.

  • I agree with the OP. Being outmatched feels miserable; P100(s) or not.

But the problem of being outmatched stems from 2 or 3 things:

    • Maybe survivors with a high SBMM rating memed around or made too many mistakes and boosted your rating by dying, pitting you against opponents who outclass you in your next match(es).
    • Maybe the reason you're in a lobby with P100's is because the killer who was matched with them dipped from the lobby and you've just filled their spot (something that penalizing/disabling queue dodging would alleviate, by the way)
    • Maybe there aren't enough killers in your region queueing. You'll get matched with whichever group of survivors have been sitting in queue the longest.

When I face a survivor who is better than me, they usually know it and try to taunt or tilt me. I have to fight the urge to prove I'm better. It's better that I ignore them and let them escape. Killing them just tells the matchmaking "give me a tougher challenge."

  • The tail miss is way too punishing.

The time before you can use the tail again is fine. The long cooldown for that can stay.

But being unable to M1, break a pallet, kick a gen, pick up a survivor, snuff a boon, or open a locker — let alone move at full speed — for such a long time is miserably slow.

    ----

I've had shots I could have taken but didn't because I knew that messing up would give the survivor massive distance. So I don't take the shot. They make it to the next loop/pallet, and the chase is 20-30 seconds longer than it would've been.

    Also, this clip: https://xboxclips.co/nos37/239f3a14-ab3a-4c87-87b6-3349e0219d51

  • If they gave all the non-licensed survivors Feng Min cosplay outfits, I would not be shocked.

  • Too many hooks?

"House of Pain" and lower level of Badham Preschool would like to disagree.

  • @Lobos said:

No thanks.. Killers already have enough BHVR hand holding.

Oh... That explains why the 100% queue bonus is almost always for the killer role, and why I get instant lobbies when queueing as killer (and having miserable matches) while queueing as survivor is a Looking for Match simulator.

    I was wondering 😂

  • When a survivor with Made For This is being chased while injured, the Benny Hill chase song needs to play.

It would be extremely fitting, and... it would remove the doubt killers have as to whether the survivor is actually running faster or not.

Hopefully not Xbox DBD players are the most toxic & vile players I've ever encountered in 20 years of online gaming. So much so that I had to disable messages outside of my friends list on Xbox after only playing for 5 days when I first started. PC players can get a bit salty from time to time in end game chat, but its absolutely nothing like the type of abuse you get sent on Xbox.

    It's the opposite for me.

PC is full of death threats against myself and my family. Or them wishing AIDS upon me.

Xbox is just whiny rants about camping, tunneling, looping, not attempting (predicatbly terrible) basement rescues, or leaving the last survivor on the hook for hatch. I've only had to report a handful of messages. Most of them were attempts to bypass profanity and only a few were actual profanity. Never threats or the digsusting things said on PC.

My point still stands. What about Ultimate Weapon would make you scream if actual logic is being used?

My point is that screaming while inside lockers is the norm. I was listing the exceptions.

It does not need explaining if it is the norm; only if it's the exception.

  • Bring Flashbang and Saboteur, and Empathy. Beat the killer to the hook they're going for, drop the Flashbang, and when the killer looks away sabo the hook.

  • Making it optional would also let players test how often they get tunneled showing VS not showing, to see for themselves

I'm sorry but I don't think BHVR is taking actual logic into account for these kinds of things. Besides, if you follow that same logic, then what is so strong about Ultimate Weapon that would make survivors scream even if they're hiding in a locker? The flavor text says "When they SPOT you, they know the end is near", so going based off your logic, they shouldn't be able to spot you at all while inside a locker.

And why would survivors be grounded while inside of a locker, but NOT when they're outside and you know, touching the GROUND??

Go back and watch the Q&A streams from 2017. They said the locker grounds the survivor to prevent the shock. 🤷‍♂️

  • Sure, but only if it takes the killer 16 seconds to snuff it and cannot rekindle it with Hex: Pentimento.

  • You also see more clowns, skull merchants, and singularities today than compared to a while back.

Keep in mind that there are tome challenges, and that they're identical for everyone. The summer event tome meant a lot more clowns. The recent tomes means more skull merchants and singularities.

I just finished a tome challenge, Obsessive, that tasked me with tunneling the obsession out of the match 3x (though it used the phrase 'by any means' instead of the word tunnel).

In calm spirit meta, dhope+noed+face the darkness+thrill of the hunt is uncounterable combo. Thanks to inexplicable buff calm spirit got that totally burried it.

If hex perks like that became commonplace, I would throw on Counterforce to override the Calm Spirit penalty. (The Calm Spirit penalty should still go, btw.)

  • The locker blocks auras, but it does not block screams.

    • The locker "grounds" the survivor so they are not electrocuted by the Doctor's Shock Blast (otherwise you would still gain madness even if the locker prevented your scream).
    • The survivor with Scene Partner does not scream while inside a locker and in the killer's terror radius because the survivor cannot "look" in the killer's direction (hence the blindness status effect).
  • If that's the case, Legion should be unable to pull me out of lockers during Feral Frenzy since his attacks during Feral Frenzy now count as special attacks. 🤷‍♂️

  • "Do you feel strong as Killer?"

Let's just say that everytime a gen popped, looking at my hook count made me sad.

I've hidden the hook count and it feels so much better. I show up, I chase, I hook until gens are done.

It's like working at the same old depressing job, but you took the clock down so that you'd stop noticing how slow time progresses.

  • Guess I'll just go AFK when the gens are done. It's just as effective, and without handing out free extra points.

  • @CrypticGirl said:

Yeah, basement Trapper does suck. It makes me want to DC, because my teammates will usually go for the poor Survivor in the basement and then get themselves caught in the process, and there's no way I'll be able to get five gens done on my own before they all inevitably die, not to mention completing a gen will give away my location. Therefore it's pointless to even try to do anything at all. And I'm hardly ever lucky enough to get hatch. But I don't want to DC because the penalty sucks, and I don't even want to leave a bot in my place.

Oh, and all the survivors who happily ran to their certain death will you chew you out in post-chat for not joining them on the basement hooks.

  • Yes, completely gut this hard-to-counter playstyle.

Let The Trapper's sacrifice/escape ratio plummet.

THEN the devs will finally have no choice but to re-work or overhaul his entire kit to make him viable.

  • Yes, though I've only seen it spawn in one location so far.

If you stand outside the Nostromo and you're looking at it, the basement will spawn on the right, next to the ramps leading up and in (kind of behind one of the ramps).

  • The Xenomorph tail attack does need better telegraphing. I can't tell where I should be aiming with it. The middle of my screen? The tip of the tail that covers my screen?

  • The people who can read this / are reading this won't likely be matched with new players.

The people who aren't likely to see this (new killers) will be playing with new survivors.

  • What do you mean?

Are you suggesting that the devs remove the disconnect penalty? I can queue as the killer, disconnect as soon as the match starts, sending the other 4 players back to the menu to re-queue, and do this as often as I like?

IF (I said IF) the 502 error is only affecting certain players, cancelling the match EVERY SINGLE TIME they queue, then that means they are cancelling the match for the other four players not affected by it. Continuing to re-queue means they are repeatedly ruining other player's matches.

They should wait until the issue is resolved, IF that is the case.

  • If I had internet issues that caused me to disconnect mid-match every single match as the killer, then that means the game ends and the survivors don't get to play the match. I would get a disconnect penalty that stacks up and adds up, preveinting me from continuing to ruin the matches for everyone else.

Error 502 does not incur such penalty, allowing players affected by it to continue to ruin the game for those who aren't. It sounds mean. It feels mean. But it means well. Sorry.

I really hope this issue gets resolved soon, so we can all play without cancelled matches. 😕

  • Is it happening every single time, 100% of the time?

If so, could you please stop queueing and possibly ruining the match for the 4 others you get paired with?

I see the 502 error sometimes, but it's not every time. This makes me think that I got matched with someone who is affected by it all the time, and that's why the macth was cancelled for me.

  • Leverage is far worse and was also pointed out to be very weak and underwhelming in the Skull Merchant's PTB.

It's been months since then, but sure, let's make sure yet another perk that can undo an entire chase (if overtuned) is buffed first. 😁

  • I've played enough Nemesis and Demogorgon to not need training on Alien's powers.

I'm using a pure M1 chaser build. Let the survivors waste time with fire turrets that do not affect my ability to M1. Buys me time to squeeze in 1 more chase before all the gens are done and they bodyblock everyone to safety before teabagging.

  • When there are 2 lockers side by side, this is how the game currently prioritizes them:

    1. The locker with a survivor in it
    2. The locked locker
    3. The locker the Dredge chose

If they remove locker priorities, that should include prioritizing a locker that the survivor is hiding in if it's next to the locker that the Dredge chose.

  • It's a feedback cycle.

I see so many killers nowadays using aura perks. I equip Distortion. I adapt.

If killers see so much Distortion they can replace their aura perks with other tracking perks or play killers like Doctor or Legion whose powers are not affected by Distortion. Adapt.

Eventually survivors will stop equipping Distortion. Then the cycle continues.

  • @WilliamSN said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3527182#Comment_3527182

Lets go over the most common Aura build, according to Nightlight its BBQ, Lethal, Darkness and Iron maiden. this is clearly a huntress/Trickster Build, so 24m TR, 4.4 Killer.

    Distortion fully deletes Lethal.

if distortion user is within 40m of the BBQ hook , they are likely regening a token WITHOUT spending the token.

Darkness revealed can only be used every 30s, a good portion of gens are not close enough to lockers to proc DR and as such very rarely consume a Distortion token, even IF it does proc, you still have 2 tokens spare, or 1 spare if Lethal was used and you didn't somehow regen it.

If the killer happens to check the gen where the distortion user was, the 24m TR in the worst possible case scenario grants you 5.45 seconds of token regen on gen check , and another 5.45 on exit , in the WORST CASE of a killer B-lining to the gen and B-lining away, you still regen close to HALF a token for essentially free.

Its very clear that distortion will for the most part, always provide a 1 perk full counter to aura builds. Not to mention out right deleting LP's main effect.

    ------

Again, making it so distortion requires active chase, OR not allowing it to regen while in active chase would be a very healthy nerf to the perk that doesn't "kill it" like every other distortion user is claiming.

Iron Maiden does not reveal the survivors aura.

    "Distortion fully deletes Lethal."

I wish it did. I cannot count how many times I spawn into a match next to someone who doesn't have Distortion and I get caught by the killer who comes toward me looking for the survivor I spawned next to. Distortion does not hide the aura of every single survivor.

Disregarding William’s argument. I run 2 Aura perks per build usually (Lethal and No Where to Hide are my main go to Aura perks)

When I run these perks against a distortion user, they tend not to proc for the entire game. The main reason probably being that when I find and chase the distortion user, they get all of their tokens back.

I really just want them to remove the token regen from chases. That isn’t that much of a nerf and it would make it impossible to keep tokens for the entire game. The best state of the perk would be where it is up around 60 to 80% of the time naturally and 100% when survivors go out of their way to regain tokens.

SN William made a point. I made a counterpoint. Then you butted in, and disregarded SN William's statement, just to once agains say the same thing you've been saying ten times throughout this thread?

    Got it.

This perk mostly used by new players and solo survivors.

SWFs have free information about which pallets used.

But ofcourse it's deserved nerf. BHVR just hates solo survivors. I did not even surprised.

It's not like they can nerf SWF. That would mean "punishing people for playing together."

  • I am affected by this on Xbox One, but not every time.

Is it possible that if someone who is affected by this 100% of the time joins the same lobby as me then they will cause the match to cancel altogether becasue of 502? 😔

  • @CarbonaraCharlie said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3527182#Comment_3527182

Realistically though, it is kind of bad to force killers to run 4 Aura reading perks to get value out of the Aura reading perks they really want to use.

If distortion were like stakeout, it would still be up for most of the game but would not recharge tokens as fast. I don’t think that would be killing the perk, it would just make it more geared towards stealth like it was always meant to be.

William SN was saying that if a killer only had 4 aura perks that Distortion would shut them down and make the killer perkless.

I was pointing out that the killer would not be perkless, as that many aura perks would likely chew through tokens faster than they're regained.

  • @Kaitsja said:

Gaslight you? Hardly. You insist that killers are punished due to the nature of how swfs can coordinate. I said nothing on the difficulty of versing swfs instead of solos.

What I did say is that SWF is an intended part of the game. Versing Solo Q isn't a reward or a break from the norm, nor is versing SWF a punishment for playing killer. Both are merely a natural part of the game.

The killer isn't being forced to play with one hand tied behind their back, nor are they being forced to play like it's a world championship and there's a prize on the line for the winner.

Placing limitations on survivors who play with friends, on the other hand, is punishing them for playing with their friends. It's a punishment because their only choices are to accept that they have to play with restrictions if they want to play together, or they have to play solo queue.

In exchange, the killer gets to have all the tools at their disposal and is not limited nor restricted. That hardly sounds fair.

And it's a punishment for killers because their only choices are to accept that they have to play against team coordination if the survivors choose to play together, or they have to play the survivor role (or another game entirely).

So you get proven wrong with Cold hard basic math, and still try to counter argue... and im the "biased" one?

Make that make sense cause it surely doesn't seem distortion isn't "1/4th of the strength" when a single perk can hard counter entire builds.

We're not talking about "countering" in the way that coulrophobia makes healing builds *less effective* we're talking about countering in the way that a killer bringing an aura build is effectively perkless if survivors bring distortion.

Again, this post is just asking for distortion tokens be a little bit harder to generate, either requiring active chase OR not generating while in active chase, distortion would still be strong without full hard countering aura builds.

    Perkless?

If the killer has 4 aura reading perks then the survivors will likely run out of Distortion tokens faster than they can regain them.

Bad enough that Hex: Undying eats Distortion tokens for breakfast and Eruption consumes TWO of them.

1 … 5 6 7 8 9 … 61
