  • Good survivors will milk a loop until they realize the killer has bloodlust. Then they drop the pallet to force a break and a bloodlust reset. Then they have time to get to, and milk, the next loop before Bloodlust kicks in.

Really hope they buff Beast of Prey. Either have the perk let you keep some Bloodlust after a pallet break (you lose 1 stack of Bloodlust instead of all stacks), or have the perk convert Bloodlust stacks into pallet break speed.

They kill you faster now. You unhook rather than waiting the full hook state. They can now tunnel you out FASTER.

Who is making you unhook yourself faster?

    No one.

If you choose to unhook yourself 15 seconds after being hooked (we don't even know how fast the self-unhook takes to unlock), then that's on you.

Maybe do your team a favor and keep the killer occupied by staying on the hook longer.

  • @Crowman said:

We don't even know the values of how fast it charges up or the range.

I hope the penalty radius for this mechanic takes into account ranged killers like Huntress and Trickster, who can camp just outside the radius and still deny or easily hook trade any rescuers.

Killers that can "camp from a distance," like Nurse, Hag, Hillbilly (and Oni to a degree), are another thing for the devs to consider.

Ghostface and Shape could possibly stalk and expose the rescuer from outside the penalty radius, but is that considered face camping at that point?

    ----

Another thing is killer powers. What's the point of self-unhook if Cannibal can chew through endurance as soon as you unhook yourself?

When the meter fills up and the survivor unhooks themself, the penalty mechanic should also disable the killer's power for a brief duration, in my opinion.

  • 6th match in a row.

Is it national target Nos Day??

Wish I could have recorded these matches entirely so I could post them on some F You In Particular reddit thread.

  • 5 matches in a row.

Guess the injured Nea wasn't good enough for the killer. No... drop her, come halfway across the map to injure me, and commit to chasing me even though they let the Nea go.

  • My most recent attempt to "go next" was from a match on Haddonfield. I spawned behind the main house. Claudette was found first and ran him through the house. I went around the side of the house to sneak by and crouched when Claudette came out of the house and took off straight across the street. The Mastermind let her go, saw Renalto run past me, and let him go too, focusing on me.

I tried to go next, but was unhooked against my will and then subsequently mori'd.

When I get that code on my Xbox I restart my console and usually that does the trick. On occasion it takes two or three restarts.

Yeah, I finally found a troubleshooting guide for it on the support site, and hard resetting the Xbox to clear the cache fixed the issue.

I said it before and I'm gonna say it now: even if tunneling is a strategy, is not good because you're making another player not able to play the game and that's just a bad experience.

The problem with tunneling is that is not just a strategy, is a mindset. Many people says that they tunnel because they have to (even when they don't), BHVR can buff killers to make them able to fly and people will continue to tunnel just because they can. So yes, tunneling needs to stop, but genrushing too, because you can't punish one side and let the other alone

As long as 4 survivors can do things better than 3 survivors, tunneling will be in the game.

It's not just about gen repair speed. Removing a player also means less hands healing, blessing, cleansing hexes, blinding, bodyblocking, sabotaging, reassuring, unhooking, resetting pallets, picking up slugged survivors.

It means less eyes watching where traps are placed, finding where hexes are located, noting which way the killer went, seeing which perks the killer brought (all of which is information easily shared in voice comms for SWF).

The point isnt to catch up, its to put them far enough away that they cant return in time.

and my point was that the killer is not that much faster than the survivor, to the point where you have the seconds needed to finish the pickup animation and move away from the pallet

  • And what would be the punishment for survivors who repair a generator all the way to 100% without stopping at 50%, finding a new gen to work on, and only coming back some time later to finish the gen?

  • @AetherBytes said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/375017/pallet-rescues-can-be-lose-lose-for-killer-just-like-locker-flashlight-saves-were

    • If the killer slugs briefly and tries to scare away the other survivor, they'll just come right back.

You're not chasing them far enough then. Don't forget killer is faster than survivor, and if you chase them far enough away, they cannot pallet rescue. If you're really sick of it happening run Fire Up.

If you hit a survivor and immediately chase them, they can run all the way across the map before you catch up as a 4.6 m/s killer.

    The pickup is not instant.

  • @Saitamfed said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3423031#Comment_3423031

It does, if they see your attempt for grabbing the survivor... by positioning yourself, they will run to one of the pallet's sides so it's not a lot to actually start the chase and use a lunge since they are pretty near.

It can get annoying, yes, indeed but it's a minor annoyance and if you commit to a chase in the same loop, they'll likely drop the pallet.

    Hahahahaha...

I said I'd laugh if someone said the counter is to hope the other survivor wastes the pallet. 😆

I guess they can add locker blinds back into the game; killers can just hope that the survivor with the flashlight doesn't know how to aim it properly... 🤷‍♂️

  • They would have to go through all the killers and give them a fast-break animation to use if the effects of Fire Up stacked with the effects of Brutal Strength, Superior Anatomy, and/or Bamboozle etc. made the killer's break animation too fast for the standard animation to keep up.

  • And I haven't even mentioned what happens when the survivor under the pallet fully recovers...

The other survivor can play around the pallet, and drop it at the opportune time to pick the slugged survivor up; either because they stunned you, you have to break the pallet, or you have to go around.

Even if the pallet drop sends the survivor to your side of the pallet, they'll just vault tech you into picking up the survivor instead of breaking the pallet (because, again, DbD things...) and then blind you while you're stuck in an animation.

  • You could argue that 8 stacks of Save the Best for Last and 5 stacks of Fire Up might do the trick if the other survivor is not close enough to have time to react...

But the locker blind was removed even though Lightborn 100% countered it. Why should I need to have TWO perks at MAX stacks just to HOPE to counter this??

  • @Saitamfed said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3423011#Comment_3423011

Well, you can just injure the survivor that is coming for the pallet save. Most survivors won't try a pallet save and risking themselves.

Except that doesn't work because the killer is locked in an animation long enough for the other survivor to react (sound familiar? the same thing that happened with locker blinds...)

Not even 5 stacks of Fire Up, shaving 2 frames off the animation, will help.

  • Sign me up. I'll help the survivors repair the gens and then all of us can escape!

  • @fulltonon said:

it can only be used once, at the very least.

Any Means Necessary won't be disabled forever, and there's more than one pallet on the maps.

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

These are not the same at all. Locker saves had zero counter if survivors knew what they were doing. Pallet saves aren't like that.

Tell me, what's the counter? I'll wait.

If you say "chase the nearby survivor and hope they loop the pallet and selfishly drop it to save themselves instead of running away," is the counter, then I will laugh.

  • @Crowman said:

To say pallet rescues take no skill is a bit of lie. There is a timing to it as throwing the pallet too early results in nothing but a wasted pallet.

I said going down under a pallet takes no skill.

You could aurgue that using an emote to prevent the killer from knocking you away from the center of the pallet takes some game knowledge.

  • Bring back Boil Over's strength and make it an exhaustion perk. (Increased wiggle effects while carried; escaping the killer's grasp causes exhaustion.)

Powerful, but not stupid powerful where running back to the same corner or second floor works back-to-back.

Making it an exhaustion perk means it can't be stacked with other exhaustion perks and gives the exhausted debuff more value.

  • The same thing happens against basement Trapper. I know it's a death trap, I slam gens instead, but I get whiny messages from the other 3 complaining that I didn't try to rescue them as they all died 1-by-1 to the same bait.

  • The Lady D legendary skin for Artist could work.

Change her posture and height, replace the spectral birds with spectral daughters, replace the bird swarm with a bug swarm...

Maybe a new terror radius or mori (replacing the ink with blood, wine, or one of her daughters in bug form)?

  • lol why so many survivor attempt to ditch the killer on me and force me off my gen.

Hope you're good at finding hatch first, otherwise you're just kicking the can down the road.

  • Your game freezing and disconnectng you is ruining the game for the others in your match. The penalty system is doing its job by preventing you from ruining more players' games as frequently. 🤷‍♂️

Sucks, I know, but stop playing, report the bug, and wait until the next patch comes out to see if that fixed it.

Maybe start here, and see if this is the same bug you have..?

Since I started regularly playing DBD again sometime in January, I have been continually forced out of matches and given a DC penalty, the highest being a 6-hour penalty that originally triggered me writing this post. I am now rewriting in hopes that someone at Behavior will take me a little more seriously, without losing all the discussion other people have had in the comments. I play DBD on Xbox Series S and this issue has occurred while in matches as both survivor and killer, you will find in the comments below that players on every platform are also experiencing this issue.

I start by loading into DBD without any other games or apps running, I choose to play as either survivor or killer and load into a match without any issues. My latency is usually around 40-50 ms and I never have issues with my internet, I will play the match as I normally do, usually I am kicked while doing actions such as working on gens or attempting to vault in chase, it doesn't matter what point of the match it is or how long the match lasts. Sometimes when I am kicked there is no warning at all, while other times I will see other players running straight into walls or I will be unable to do any actions until I am kicked. I am always kicked to the endgame screen with a disconnected from host pop up, in the endgame screen it tells me that the killer has also disconnected from the match and I am able to see all of their perks, the killer is not disconnected as when I play with friends they are able to finish the match as usual. I click out of the error message and click back to go back to my lobby, I have never been kicked from my own lobby just the match itself. Whenever this happens I can check my latency and it does not change, if I am in an Xbox party with friends I do not get kicked from that party and they can hear me as it is happening, I will often tell them I am being kicked before it happens which I would not be able to do if this was an internet issue.

I have found this happens more often when I sit in my lobby too long without readying up or when I switch to a different character, which makes it really hard if I am waiting for friends to join or I want to upgrade in my blood web. Even knowing this and avoiding doing those actions, I will still get kicked from matches and receive higher and higher penalties. I genuinely believe this is a server issue and not a personal internet issue.

I ask that someone at least tries to look into this, as I would hate to no longer be able to play on my account I have spent money and worked hard on. I am willing to give more information as needed and I am hoping to get video proof to update this report with soon.

  • Part of Lady D's power could be a rock, paper, scissors gamble for survivors who vault windows when she's close behind.

She pulls out her long claws and leans her shoulder over the vault location, giving her a big reach and the ability to hit survivors, well beyond other melee killer's abiltiy. But, she can only choose to swing left, swing right, or swing forward & down. The killer player must predict and choose left or right before swinging. If they wait too long (wait to react instead of predict), or don't choose left or right, then they just swing forward & down.

If she swings left and the survivor ran left, the survivor will get hit. If they ran right, they won't. If they ran straight, they might get hit if she was close behind them (just like a normal killer would still land a hit with a swing/lunge).

This would make vaults into drops risky for survivors, as the only logical choice for Lady D is to swing forward & down, hitting them mid-drop if they didn't get a head start to the window.

Performing the extended strike through vaults, regardless of successful hits, incurs a cooldown as she retracts her claws before she can vault.

    ----

Not sure if she should be able to use her claws in the open or how to balance the extra range there. Not sure what the rest of her power would be. Something to do with her daughters?

Maybe they passivley harass the Obsession like Doctor's illusions, afflicting the Obsession with worse and worse status effects (blindness> oblivious> exhausted> no skill check warning> hindered, and these persist for 3 seconds after being chased before going away). The daughters can be disabled liked Skull Merchant's Drones, but doing so builds Lady D's wrath like Oni, giving her increased lethality temproarily?

I personally love the aesthetic and playstyle of Artist and Knight. Are we discussing the enjoyment of a killer from just the survivors perspective?

If so, none of this matters. Blight is hated too.

At the time of his nerf you could, yet the devs still felt the nerf was necessary.

  • As a survivor, I don't mind if you and the other 3 farm or whatever, but as soon as they tell you where I am and farm me against my will, I'm not okay with that.

  • @Deathstroke said:

But the problem is that usually is not the case. Killers often tunnel the player with less than 100 hours "weak link". Which I think is not healthy. Neither is those 3-4K survivors effient gen rushing which killer can do nothing.

Those players shouldn't be facing each other in the first place.

However, letting the weak link go and get a free/easy escape makes it worse for them, boosting their mmr so they are queueing "out of their league." Just like sweating against the gen rushers and getting kills tells the SBMM system that you need tougher opponents and only makes things worse for yourself.

  • Deathslinger is too clunky to play.

It wasn't enough that the odds of missing were in the survivor's favor (they either juke left, juke right, or keep going straight, and the Deathslinger can only choose 1), or that the survivors could easily Dead Hard the shot, or that pre-dopping pallets destroyed him, or that most loops were too tall to shoot over... the devs STILL had to nerf him.

I've seen only 2 or 3 Deathslingers since his nerf.

If at the start of the match I could choose to have my shots disabled for the rest of the match in exchange for 4.6 m/s movespeed instead of 4.4, I would play him.

And going afk is reportable. Your ragequit here is exactly what I'm talking about. You went down early, ok everybody slips up. And you then decided to nope put because 1 person was running no mither

Terrible perk admittedly but I've escaped games while using it. I like to muck around with no mither, resilience stealth builds on the odd occasion. But instead of trying and potentially winning, you personally ensure that the game is going to be a survivor loss. Maybe they would've come back to the controller and if they didn't after a minute or two then maybe throw yourself at killer if it's a definite loss.

Going down early was not an issue.

Nea was afk from the start; the match was already lost. I should not be penalized; Nea should be.

Just like if a cheater is taking the game hostage, players who disconnect should not be penalized.

  • I went down early against Knight and was hooked in the basement. I saw Nea's aura as she stood idle and saw the broken status next on her HUD which meant No Mither. I was not sticking around and expedited my exit from the match.

Penalize or remove giving up on hook and I'll just go AFK.

  • I've had something similar happen, and when I closed the game and came back I would get a bunch of Rift Xp.

It seemed that while I was still able to connect with other players and play the game, I was not connected to the system that tracks my Rift Xp or Tome Challenge progress.

Have you tried restarting the game and made progress on the challenge again to see if it tracks properly?

In before Survivors claim that your sarcastic example is nowhere near the same. 😁

It's not the same. Gens cannot come onto the forum to complain about being tunneled by survivors. They are unfairly underrepresented.

  • I just want to see which perks other survivors in my lobby have equipped before the match starts. This won't happen if it means that players will dodge the lobby or bully the No Mither survivor into changing perks.

  • (Start of sarcasm.)

Crazy how 9/10 times, survivors will repair gens to 100% progress if left uninterrupted. They have no empathy for the other side and it's toxic.

They should stop repairing the gen at 50% and go find a new gen to start over. Once all the gens are at 50% THEN they can commit to 100%. Survivors who do not do this are just bad at the game and need to have their reputation dragged and be told how to play.

9/10 times survivors will camp gens if the killer does not see them and leaves. The new Knight perk, Nowhere to Hide, helps with this but it's still unbearable.

    (End of sarcasm.)

  • I'm more annoyed by the tooltip for the Automatic Bloodweb Purchase button. It's easy (on console) to just leave my cursor on the button so I can just press 1 button to for each new web, but I also want to see what's in the web before I commit to an auto-purchase and the tooltip covers up web nodes.

  • I was facecamped by Bubba yesterday. I stayed on the hook, for my team's sake, so they could finish gens. One by one, they came to my hook to see what was happening and then sat there and watched him watch me, close enough to negate the killer's hook proximity penalty. At that point I sped up the sacrifice.

  • and in the survivor's universe on Earth they could climb walls, but we can't climb in the Entity's realm

  • I tried showing my aura to teammates to help them find and do gens (Situational Awareness perk), come to me for healing (Empathic Connection), be efficient at sending someone to rescue me from the hook (Kindred), and know which exit gate I'm opening (Wake Up)...

It backfired, completely and utterly. My teammates constantly used this info to save their own necks and ditch the killer on me. 0 Wake Up value, as I was either sandbagged out of the match or we all died before then. When the match fell apart, hatch wasn't even an option for me as the other injured survivor knew exactly where to run to make sure no one escaped.

  • ⬜️ Awakened Awareness

They changed how it worked because of Nurse, but it no longer works with Nurse's blink attacks so the change should be reverted.

  • This woud be nice, but priority should be sharing perk info like Kinship, Power Struggle, and Resilience. These perks don't perform well in solo q when your teammates don't know you have them.

I'm on console myself and don't see it being an issue in terms of balance. It's a common setting in most FPS shooters releasing today and there is never any discussion of its balance in the grand scheme. It's only seen as a balance issue in dbd due to it being a killer perk imo.

I'm seeing a lot of games add the function to tweak your fov due to the power of the newer consoles and think its about time they added it for the Series X/S and PS5 versions of the game.

I meant that some games (like No Man's Sky) usually use a tighter FOV for older gen consoles to improve the performance.

If DbD does the same thing for the same reason, then there should be a cap so that PC or next gen consoles do not get a higher FOV than old gen consoles. That's what I think would be unfair.

  • As long as console has access to the FOV slider too, and doesn't go beyond Shadowborn's strength. Otherwise it would give an unfair advantage to PC.

  • @ehe said:

If we balanced everything around trolls the game would be unplayable T^T

Don't know why you singled out empathic connection though. Empathy lets you see the auras of all injured survivors no strings attached.

It's not a matter of balance.

WHAT downsides are there for hiding Empathic Connection's aura from injured survivors while they're in chase??

They accidentally bring the killer my way (because they didn't know I was there), instead of intentionally bringing the killer to me? At least I can hear them coming and get out of the way or offer a protection hit. Currently, if I try to get out of the way, they STILL SEE ME and change course too! They haven't been hooked yet. They're not on death-hook. I shouldn't be FORCED to take a protection hit!

Empathy is different. I can see injured survivors, but they can't see my aura and cannot kite the killer into me on purpose unless THEY have Empthay and I'M injured. Empathic Connection lets them see me and sandbag me.
