Still happening to me every day. Even if it isn’t me that is disconnected there is at least one player that is disconnected from almost every match.

Hindsight is 20/20.
Turns out the commonality was we were all playing DBD. When Singularity came out almost everyone was complaining on the steam forums about getting disconnected. Then BHVR took note and attempted to fix it. The disconnected killer would suddenly reconnect and seemingly teleport to a survivor they thought they were chasing, and end them unfairly. But now the DC problems seem to be fixed.
I just wanted to update any future readers to this crazy DC happenings.
Their comment was posted a month before the singularity’s release. This has been happening since January for a lot of us and I can confirm it is still happening to me there has not been a fix yet.

Alright so I found a fix that worked for me.
I got a unity crash error earlier today, once booting the game back up I started getting "Disconnected from host error" (Same as you all) I then continued to connect to the lobby, again and again, further giving me the same error as-well as "Dedicated server is not responding; disconnecting..." same as @chesnoodle mentioned they were getting.
Nonetheless I began searching online for any solution. These are the steps that I did. (I do not know which one of these fixed the issue, since I did them all in one fail swoop.)
- Verified the integrity of Dead By Daylight's game files.
- Changed / added a new dns to my internet (cloudflare's DNS)
- Reset my internet via flushing in cmd prompt.
Further explanation on the previous statement:
- win + r (Open command prompt)
- Type "ipconfig /flushdns" and press Enter.
- Type "ipconfig /registerdns" and press Enter.
- Type "ipconfig /release" and press Enter.
- Type "ipconfig /renew" and press Enter.
- Type "netsh winsock reset" and press Enter.
- Restart the computer.
Continuation of the previous list:
- Opened Windows Defender Firewall With Advanced Security
- Clicked "Inbound Rules" In the top left
- Scrolled through until I found "Dead By Daylight"
- Double clicked "Dead By Daylight" Clicked "Programs and Services"
- Copied the program path. (Mine: D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dead by Daylight\DeadByDaylight.exe) (Probably not the same as yours)
- Click OK
- Click "New Rule..." (top right), Program, Paste the previously copied path, Allow the Connection, check all boxes, name: Dead By Daylight
- Go down to Outbound Rules (Top left)
- Go to "New Rule..." (top left)
- Click Program, paste previously mentioned program path, Allow the connection, Check all boxes, Name: Dead By Daylight.
- Press windows key and head to "Allow an App Through Windows Firewall"
- Scroll down until you find "Dead By Daylight", Check both "Private" and "Public" boxes.
- Scroll until you find "EasyAntiCheat Launcher", do the same as previously mentioned.
- Shut down your computer, Unplug your router, let it do it's thing for an hour or two. (I just took a nap cause I was stressed lol)
- Plug back in router, turn on pc, and hopefully your problem is solved!
This is what worked for me, I hope that this will work for some of you aswell. I can make a youtube video on this process if it will clear up some confusion in my previously mentioned steps.
I have been following this thread very closely ever since my friend got the same message (before I did). It is very saddening to see behavior ignore their community like this. I asked Content Creator Otzdarva to message some of the devs, hopefully that will make them provide a fix for this issue.

Thank you for looking into this! I play on console so I will see which of these I am able to do and update when I can. We are currently posting any clips we have of the newer error message under this thread https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/379080/dedicated-server-is-not-responding-disconnecting. It seems since the anniversary event began the servers have been more unstable than usual with a lot more lag and dc’s so I have hope this will be addressed soon. This thread is now “Acknowledged” !!

Still happening at least once a day. Just tried to grab an invitation and my game froze then received “Dedicated server is not responding disconnecting…” error with a 15 minute penalty. The least BHVR could do is remove DC penalties for the event, I know someone who keeps receiving 24 hour penalties due to this error.
-
My first game on tonight I was disconnected and received a 30 minute penalty. My internet is perfectly fine, in fact I waited until no one else was using my internet to try and play. I don’t have much more information to help at this point, I just want BHVR to know what we have been putting up with for months now. The anniversary event is in just a few days and some of us can’t even play the game, really hoping we find a solution soon.

“Dedicated server is not responding disconnecting…” against Nurse on Autohaven Wreckers. Not sure what caused this one.

Playing on Xbox Series S on East Coast US servers. My game froze while trying to uncloak as Wraith, I was kicked out of the match and received a “Dedicated server is not responding disconnecting…” error in the end game screen along with a DC penalty. A few other instances where I received the error in the endgame screen after finishing a match, but I still got all of my points and I did not receive a DC penalty.

Still no response from BHVR, but there is a new error message “Dedicated server is not responding disconnecting…”
https://youtu.be/r7PQb556cJM -
Other than the regular bugs that come after a new chapter my game was running fine for a few days, now I am starting to receive this new error “Dedicated server is not responding disconnecting…” in the end game screen it looks as if everyone has disconnected. Playing against Myers on Decimated Borgo, I didn’t notice anything that may have been the cause. I will continue to comment with a clip each time this happens, I know we would all like a response from BHVR.

I noticed after about a million disconnects from host that if I played on the same pc but on a different account the issue was resolved. I don't know how this is possible but it must be on behaviors end. This is terrible for me because I have spent a lot of money on my main account but I just can't play on it.
Yup, I created a new account just to see what would happen and have never been kicked from that account. My account that I get kicked from has years of progress and money put into it, so I would much prefer to be able to play on that one. Super weird that the error is only affecting select accounts and has nothing to do with internet connection.
-
Yup, same thing has been happening on my account but once I switch over to a new account I don’t get dc’d. There’s a thread on my page with a lot of other people having this problem.

I saw someone on another thread telling people to turn off their tome challenges to stop disconnects and it worked for about two days, now i’m getting the kicked even more frequently. I didn’t realize there was an actual setting to turn off the tome tracking hud so i’ll have to try this too. Thanks for the info!
EDIT: Still getting disconnected from host every other round..

Here to say that although this issue has gotten a bit better for me, I'm still getting a "Disconnection from Host" error at least once per day. I have staggered my playing so that my penalty is only at 5-10 minutes right now, but that is still frankly unacceptable and still no acknowledgment from BHVR.
Yup, this is what i’ve been doing making sure my timer never gets above 15 minutes and taking breaks to reset it entirely. I’m still getting the disconnected from host error after the most recent patch… Kinda interested to see if they remove DC penalties when they introduce the bots to replace players who DC in public matches. Obviously removing penalties isn’t an actual solution to the problem, but at least we wouldn’t get punished for their faulty servers.
-
^^ This is a really good idea! My original comment disappeared so I apologize if two of them suddenly show up, but anyway...
Platform: Xbox Series S
Lobby Host: East Coast US Server (not sure if it has happened on any others)
Location: New England (Boston area)
To recreate: Play a match as killer or survivor. Receive a sudden loading screen and then a "Disconnected from host" error after vaulting, repairing generators, healing, hooking or hitting survivors, etc.

A lot of players have been having this issue, there's a long thread on my page that I'm hoping gets some acknowledgement soon.

I am sharing the conclusion of my emails with support below. Not entirely sure what to make of it but I’m sharing just so everyone can see what they had to say after repeatedly having me try troubleshooting that didn’t work, and suggesting I reach out to my ISP and Sony. Hard to say for sure but I hope they really are looking into it, and I hope it’s a priority and will be fixed soon. Hard to be anything but doubtful at this point though.

Hi again,
I was able to understand that you seem to be having some connection problems within the game itself according to what you just described and you need help in order to fix this and get back to enjoying the game and we want that as well.
You see.. Internet service providers use things called internet exchange points to efficiently carry data from your device to any destination. These points are along a path where data from your device is sent to the Dead by Daylight servers and back to your device. If an internet exchange point is having trouble or goes down, this can impact your connection which seems to be your case.
I understand you already tried the troubleshooting steps that have been provided so far and I know how important this is for not only you but all the players that may be experiencing this connection issue, which is why it is something we will have to look into and find a way of fixing this like we have the recent bugs and issues that have been reported to us.
With that in mind, thank you for reporting this as it truly helps our investigation.
This sounds a liiittle more hopeful than the usual email responses from BHVR... I honestly can't thank you enough for putting so much work into this. This thread has been at the top of bug reporting since April and I'm still crossing my fingers we get some kind of acknowledgement soon.

Well, I went through Sony’s support just to exhaust everything that BHVR support has told me to try. They suggested port forwarding, which I had already tried. Sony said to contact the publisher of the game that is giving me issues (big surprise) because some multiplayer games may require additional reports to be opened. I told BHVR support this and they did give me a list of ports to open. I haven’t tried yet but if anyone else also wants to give it a shot, I copypasted from the support email below.
————————
I understand that Sony recommended port forwarding as a potential solution for your connection issues with Dead by Daylight. To answer your question, we do indeed have a set of ports that the game uses to function, here is the list:
- 49003 – UDP Inbound AUDIO
- 49004 – UDP Outbound AUDIO
- 49005 – UDP Inbound VIDEO
- 49006 – TCP/UDP Outbound/Inbound Remote Input
This is awesome I’ll have to try this! currently getting kicked every other match again. I have a clip of it happening, but it doesn’t seem to want to attach to the report.

It is indeed still happening after the bug fix patch. This needs to be acknowledged ASAP. It is entirely unacceptable that I have bought characters and cosmetics for this game and it is basically unplayable because of this error and the resulting penalties. I am frankly disgusted with how support continues attempting to pass the buck by telling me to contact Sony or my ISP. The fact that they tell me to contact both tells me they have zero idea what they are talking about and are just throwing ideas at the wall and having me waste my time when it is the developers responsibility to look into issues that are regularly affecting a number of players. I have been forgiving in my conversations with support but it is getting tiresome, developers should be embarrassed that they haven’t acknowledged a single thread reporting this issue. Even if you don’t know what is causing it or how to fix it, let us know you are aware that it’s a problem for a decent chunk of players. Blatantly ignoring the players that are reporting this is starting to seem like a grossly unprofessional form of damage control and that speaks incredibly poorly of BHVR as a company. I hate to speak so harshly and don’t want to come off as rude or unappreciative of all the hard work that is put into the game but I don’t know what else to say. All the reports of this issue need to be addressed.
It's extremely frustrating! I really appreciate everyone continuing to interact on this post, it is keeping it towards the top of the bug reporting page so more people are likely to see it. BHVR will have to acknowledge us eventually.

This is happening to me to its also not just me its also all other players in the match as well. My internet connection is fine and it only seems to happen when all gens are finished and the exit gate is opened. This can be frustrating because i play a whole match and would normally get 30,000 to 50,000 bp but instead i get 0 and am left with a matchmaking penalty. This has been happening to me for a couple weeks and is getting more frequent. Please update us when you have some idea as to whats going on, i feel bad for the guy above since he has seemed to have the problem for over a month and this shows no signs of going away anytime soon. Please fix your servers BHVR
Responding to this comment to update everyone real quick… So unfortunately BHVR still has not yet addressed this issue and it looks like there is no mention of server issues in the newest patch notes. I have not tested the problem much on my main account because I’m currently waiting for my bans to reset. I have however been playing a bit on my steam account that I have barely touched prior to this, I’ve been running a different DBD account on my laptop that runs significantly slower than my console. To be expected there is a ridiculous amount of lag and my laptop overheats quickly, but to my surprise I have not been kicked while playing on this account once. I had kind of figured this issue was only affecting select accounts but this just confirms it is not an internet issue we are dealing with. On my console my ping is near perfect and yet I will get kicked and receive penalties over and over, none of my friends who play on console have this issue. I have been playing DBD on my console account for about 3 years now and this has been an issue since at least January, I don’t want to lose this account I have worked hard on. BHVR please consider looking into this obviously we have tried everything we can to fix it for ourselves, but this one is on you.

I have the same issue on PS5. Game suddenly bugs in some way and then I get loading screen and ”Disconnection from Host” error message. At the worst I ended up with a 24h penalty less than 5 minutes into my first match of the day. My internet remains fine throughout and I have a wired connection and good ping. This error even happens during custom games with bots. I’ve exchanged several emails with BHVR support about it, they pretty much ignored any sentence I wrote that suggested it was an issue with the game/servers and not something on my end. When none of their troubleshooting suggestions worked, they suggested I contact my ISP or Sony.
fr I’ve tried to get bvhr’s attention several times and they insist it’s an internet issue. My internet is perfectly fine, I don’t even get kicked from my in game party or xbox party whenever it happens. It has to be a dbd server issue but they refuse to look into it :/

Surprise surprise, I've just been disconnected from another match and got hit with a 30 minute penalty.
After the first few disconnects I started actively monitoring my connection, it hasn't dropped once. BHVR, it'd be great if you could stop punishing people for issues with your servers. It'd be even better if you could implement a system which can detect when a user is manually disconnecting versus when a user is BEING disconnected due to a server issue.
Came back here to say it’s happening again most likely due to the new update. Also Looks like this post is still pending and bhvr doesn’t want to do anything about it.
-
This happens to me all the time as both killer and survivor exactly as you described. Unfortunately I haven’t found a solution yet and dbd doesn’t seem to care at all even though it is not an internet issue.
-
I play both killer and survivor and have never once had a problem countering these perks I really don’t understand the reason for nerfing them. If someone is abusing the perks then take the loss and move on it doesn’t happen that often for me to complain.
-
This is happening to me at the moment I’ve restarted both the game and my console and i’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the game. The only thing that did work was playing the game through cloud gaming but it made the game almost unplayable with lag.
