it's not just Pinhead. for example, if you lunge in Feral Frenzy with Legion, you lose momentum.
And I suspect this is true for every killer - I didn't play them enough though to be sure

I had this issue last night. I was able to get all the DLCs again except for Nightmare on Elm Street. Is there anything I can do or will I just have to pay for it again?
when you go to the add on page of freddy, try to click on the 3 dots next to the "add to library" button (or whatever it is called). If you bought the dlc from the store and the "add to library" button is greyed out, you could be able to choose the "ps5 version" of the dlc. once you choose that one, add it to the library / download it
EDIT: also remember that when you do this the game should be closed / restarted afterwards

Is it this bad for anyone else? I am just going to have to take a break and wait for them to fix this.
I played several games today with no issue, but then the last 3 games all had DCs and me getting DC'd as well. So yeah, I guess we just got pretty good job so far'd

Alright, i main Nurse on console and i would say i am pretty good with her and everytbing is on point most of the time.
But god damn, i cant hit anything with Pinhead!
Not neccesary his Gateways but when i try to use the chains themselfs! Anyone got some advises??
(Also why can i get blinded while controlling the chains..? .-.)
Honestly I'm not having huge issues with aiming, in fact I find him much easier than every other ranged killers. I think you just need to get used to slight movements of the stick, since the sensitivity is pretty high with the chains (but please Devs, leave it as it is, it gives a decent amount of freedom!)
Other than that, it's too early to give advices, but what I can say is that if they are in a hallway / between a pallet, it might be smart to use the chain attack quickly, otherwise you can take a couple of instants to prepare your attack while in the gateway. Don't overthink it though, or they'll just start spinning you :P.
If you are curious, I did make a first impressions video on PS5, you'll find it here:

Hiya, we are looking into this right now. I don't have further info yet though I'm afraid.

EDIT; 3 times :|

I went to the PS Store and just clicked Add to Library. Make sure you select the PS5 version of the DLC and it should be free. All of them showed up as free for me.
I bought them with auric cells. I have only the killer = it's not the DLC of the playstation store.
-
I lost (almost) every character I bought with Auric Cells (meaning I can't restore them from the playstation store, since I didn't buy them there).
I'm on PS5.
The characters lost are ghostface, pig, myers, freddy, bubba.
I kept Pyramid Head and Demo for some reason.
EDIT: false alarm... I was super sure I bought them with Auric Cells, instead I actually bought them from the store, so yeah, I was able to get them back. Phew.
-
This is understandable, however it was also the only objective way to tell if the SSBM was somehow working or not (because if you get paired with yellow ranks as a red rank every time, the excuse "they just don't play much..." is not reasonable).
Now I'm not sure how you are supposed to get the feedback, and to know if it is or it's not valid.
-
I know this topic is for old gen consoles, but I just wanted you guys to know that on PS5 everything seems to still be smooth and fine.
...we survived another update :P

Why would people sweat before their rank resets? Isn't that pointless? It gets reset, right? I am new. So I genuinely don't know.
I suppose some players try to reach the higher rank tier (colour), so that they don't lose too many ranks.
(longer explanation if you don't know how rank reset works: ranks are divided in "colours". For example, red rank is from 1 to 4, purple from 5 to 8 etc etc. Once every month, you get reset at the highest rank of the previous colour based on what you were in. If you were red rank, you get reset to 5, which is the highest of purple ranks, if you were purple you get to 9 etc etc.
This means that if you are currently sitting at rank 5, it would be wise to try a bit harder to reach at least rank 4, so that you will be reset only one rank, instead of jumping down to 9)

the same is for PS5

my go-to build at the moment is Spirit Fury, Enduring, STBFL and Pop.
There's some reasoning behind it, and if you are interested I showcase it here
https://youtu.be/lAwcDtp2X-Y -
considering that distortion is useful for stealth, I'd make it so that for every 30 seconds you are in a chase, you gain one token.
The alternative would be like with diversion (stay in killer terror radius), but I hate perks that activate through TR, due to how inconsistent TR is in the first place with several killers (freddy, wraith, gf... not to mention other perks that suppress the TR)

Which basically means everyone else is ######### if the PS5 has issues
let me reiterate though that for now the stutters are present only with bots. I'm obviously scared about what could happen next, but at least the online part is working fine at the moment.
I was also able to play the new map before it got disabled and all seemed perfect even there.
-
I saw @Pulsar clips with the new killer and I got depressed :,(.
the "good" news is that on PS5 the new killer (and possibly the whole patch? too early to say) is working splendidly:
https://youtu.be/1-tddJoAuVk...the bad news, though, is that the tutorial with bots sometimes have 3-4 seconds of HUGE stutters, meaning that there's already something bad going on behind the scenes, even on PS5.
-
Urban Evasion Evasion
You gain 1 token for every minute you are not in a chase.
If a survivor crouches while in your terror radius you consume a token and scream "WHERE THE HELL IS THIS F$%@ING BLENDETTE", then rage quit.
Noradrenaline
When the last generator is completed, for the next minute the first survivor you hit gets immediately teleported on a basement hook.
Decisive Flashlight
Once per game, if you get blinded while carrying a survivor you get a difficult skill check. If you succeed, you don't lose the survivor, and the flashlight that blinded you instantly explodes, exposing the owner for their next 10 games.
-
I do remember that after they locked the previous thread, the first graphic update came out, and a few posts popped out with "OMG tnx devs, you fixed the framerate!! I can finally play the game!!! WOWWWW", while I was utterly shocked at how worse things were. But in these posts, there were a lot of "oh thank you for the feedback, we are very happy about that!" replies.
Luckily, there was also a hot fix patch a few days later that, at least for me, really did improve things.
Judging by the videos posted here, I see things are now even worse that they were before - like, I never experienced that IMMENSE stuttering some of you get with, for example, Deathslinger.
It's just incredible (...well, actually very much credible) how much frame rate is important, much more than controller vs mouse. I used to think Nurse was just unplayable on console. Now that I've got a PS5... oh god, you can actually play her :O.
Like, this is a Nurse on PS5. Just... night and day in respect of how what old gen consoles need to endure.

Are you saying the newest consoles also struggle with running DBD? Please elaborate for us...
no, they usually don't, but there actually are a few spots where the framerate drops, for example in The Game map. they are very very few, I think it happened only twice so far, and even with the drop the framerate was better than anything I ever experienced on PS4.
Still, the fact that these drops do exist, make me think it's only a matter of time until everything will break even there.

I live in Maine. I write fiction, short stories and novels. The furthest I delve into the political realm is the odd letter to an editor. Have it your way; you better get used to seeing a lot of me because you and I will be having lots of conversations about YOU and your posts and your ideas. You are my new hobby horse. And at some point, you are going to have to prove your assertions about camping. I've given you plenty of opportunities. I even gave you all the advantages possible to be fair. You just keep wriggling on that hook, because the longer you do it the more ridiculous you look.

I'm not going to trust you without proof.
The burden of proof falls to you, since you are the one making claims. I've already demonstrated my point and all you've said is "that isn't true."
I can confirm that I’ve not experienced frame drops as bad as the one in the clip since a looong time.
also yes, frames on ps4 got more stable in the last couple of patches, but they certainly are not enough for a good experience: yesterday I tried dbd on the ps5 for the first time and it was night and day... countering 360 became a joke overnight.

first of all: trickster SUCKS on every platform, and I'll give 1 million paper dollars to whoever proves me wrong.
This being said, I think that the most efficient way to use his power at mid-long range is to throw one knife at a time, while at close quarters you can spam and the recoil is almost manageable on console.
...however, if you do everything right, chances are that survivors will just out position themselves after 3-4 successful knives, leaving themselves open to a basic attack. meh.

with DC penalties it’s definitely rarer now (before penalties, it happened every other game), but yes, a simple “hatch doesn’t open for 10 seconds when last person DCs” would suffice to solve every problem.
obviously if you are slugging and you have no idea where the survivor nor the hatch is... well, you should be thankful the game is gonna end in 10 seconds lol

MMR should be visible.
Maybe not a specific value but a range, and maybe the visible range could be updated every week instead of after every game (but behind the scenes the MMR would constantly update).
It would make it difficult, or at least extremely slow, to reverse engineer how the MMR works, and it would also give a bit of a goal to look forward to.

I don't trust negi but I trust you, so I'll take the bet:
assuming there won't be any other changes, I bet a twitch sub that trickster will be in the bottom 3 tier list.
If it changes... well, it depends on how it does. I've put my 1 month timer 🥕
P.S. obviously, to make things as objectively as possible, the tier list will be decided by a panel of trusted DbD players: me, my sister and somebody else I just made up anyway.

In terms of thread-making I don't think there's a massive difference, you get Killer complaints and Survivor complaint threads, but in terms of replies/upvotes, it's salty Killers all the way down.
nah, the only reason why killer threads get more upvotes is because survivors are not used to kindness.
Add a "tbag at the exit gate" button and I'm sure survivor posts will be voted as well!
-
so, to recap, this is the first time you DC (/lose connection), you got a 5 minutes ban (as intended), and never got a problem afterwards.
Or, to rephrase it, in "240 hours of gameplay, you got dc'd only once, and had to wait for 5 minutes to play again".
...but you are asking to remove the DC penalty, that is objectively the best thing ever introduced to DbD, because...? Anxiety for what may come next?
Don't worry, you'll be fine.
EDIT: I know, you ask to remove the DC penalty for "reasons not in your control", but this is not possible - either you punish all DCs, or you don't punish any. That's an official BHVR statement btw.

Maybe luring the killer away, breaking traps. Things take time. Oh, and also, if a hag places all her traps around a three gen, they deserve to wait in that match for a long time.
So there it is, you don’t want a time limit because you prefer the game to become miserable for every body (yes, every body, not just the killer, there’s no way the survivors would enjoy a never ending game).
I guess you proved the exact opposite point you wanted to prove - a time limit would be GOOD for the game.

It is against a killer like hag. If she sets up a three gen early, you can't do #########.
again, if you can't do #########, then what's the difference in having the game ending after 20 minutes of stale mate?
-
@Snap_Tobiyume said:

It should not work on a killer who three gens well though. Imagine dying just because a hag placed all her traps in one area and just sat there.
I really don’t understand this kind of rebuttal to “let’s introduce a time limit”... like, let’s say the time limit is 30 minutes, and we reach the “3 gen” stage of the game, where the killer “doesn’t deserve the win” because he just camped 3 gens:
first, it means survivors didn’t care about which gens were being worked on, so presumably only 4 minutes or so have passed since the start of the game. Now, survivors have TWENTYSIX more minutes to finish ONE generator. You’re telling me that it’s “unfair” for the survivors to have this little time?
luckily survivors taking the game hostage are not “that” common, but it’s certainly the most infuriating part of dbd.
-
gaming setup, tech savvy, multiple screens...
literally otzdarva as the new killer confirmed (and Noob3 as survivor)

I really like the comm system idea: I've been advocating for DbD is meant to be played solo! for a long time, but at the end of the day the reality is that the vast majority of players play SWF, so there's no point arguing with that - it's time to introduce communication for solo players, but without voice chat.
The gen part idea though.. sorry to be so harsh, but it sucks :P. There are too many problems to tackle, and even if I'm sure Scott didn't get too much in depth with its explanation, I really struggle to find a proper balance/solution without basically doing a new game entirely. Also I really think it would exacerbate even more the difference between solo and swf: solo (especially new players) will just roam around aimlessly and/or waste time in "unpaired" gens, while swf will Navy Seals their way to 4 parts at the same time, and rush all the gens in 1 minute lol.
-
you know what is the worst part about the "we need to fix animations, survs can't 360 otherwise :,("?

@gatsby said:
The breakable walls allow the Killer to go through areas that were previously closed to everyone until the nearby generator was finished. They don't change the map for Survivors but give the Killer another option, which is fine.
As for the pallets, The Game doesn't really have vaults. So all the loops are pallet loops. It's just how it was designed. It's a cost and a benefit because the loops are strong but tiles can't be re-used and there can be some nasty dead zones if the pallets aren't managed well.
I don't think this is true though.
Breakable walls: they are where "open doors" were before. I haven't seen a single open door yet devoid of a breakable wall, but maybe I'm just being unlucky?
Pallets: I know perfectly well that vaults are missing, but still, they added some god pallets that simply weren't there before.
Also it feels like there are even more pallets than before the update, but maybe this is just killer bias, I'm sure Devs will have objective data concerning this point.
-
full swf with that kind of coordination are unbeatable. Your best bet is to capitalise on a mistake if they ever make one, and rush in setting up your traps as soon as they run away from you.
But if this never happens... well, gg.
-
DS dribble, even if nerfed. Like, the previous DS dribble allowed you to walk for a couple of meters before dropping the survivor, I'd be ok with a dribble that doesn't allow to actually walk that much, but at least to hook somebody if they are exactly under a hook OR to instantly drop a survivor after the pick up.
It would instantly solve the "get in a locker" or "bait a grab" issues of the current DS - you still cannot hook them, but at least you don't waste that much momentum just because you did your job as a killer.
And now that I think about this: omg @Almo , this is the easiest fix for the DS shenanigans lol, you don't need to introduce intricate new code like "if survivor gets in a locker 20 meters away from where he was hooked, disable DS" (which would be horrible to add in the perk description as well), you would just need to change the time when the skill check for DS appears. Plus, it would still keep DS + unbreakable a strong combo, since I assume you devs want that to still be a thing!
-
Surge in particular doesn't make a lot of sense, since it already has a cooldown.
It's not like one can down 3 survivors in 30 seconds and regress 3 generators by 24% without the need to touch them, you still need to wait for a fixed amount of time.
-
@Woot1234 said:
If a killer values Ruin and DH roughly equally, it works out this way:
1) If they stumble upon the Ruin and cleanse it, the Ruin was basically Undying with gen regression
2) If they stumble upon the DH and cleanse it first, the DH is basically Undying with the upside to expose survivors
If survivors scramble looking for Ruin and find my DH first Instead, this is scenario 2
you are not listening to @EvilBarney666 argument.. Devour power is being hidden until it's too late. With Ruin, there's a (much) higher chance for it to be cleansed.
Running DH with Undying doesn't take away the "hidden" mechanic, but also adds the benefit of having a second chance of DH doing its job.

Unless you are a top-tier Killer, I fully suspect that the speed boost bottle will cause Clown players to have an even more miserable experience. Toxic Survivors will abuse the absolute hell out of it. I suspect there will be a surge of Clown players when the modifications are released followed by a dive back into obscurity.
this really is a non-issue.
Assuming a player can't understand when and how to use the antidote bottle, they can just stick with the toxic one, and benefit from the almost 50% reload speed increase.
