  • Did the rest of the cozy collection change too? If not then it might just be a bug

  • I'm keen to see what they do. I doubt they'll just do a complete revert. I always see the 'killers are just going to slug/tunnel/do some other thing' threats when it looks like survivors will get something useful and it never happens so I'm not fussed about that. I played during the old DS era and never noticed slugging to any big extent. Certainly not more than I currently do.

I'm afraid of this change tbh, because I think it will be detrimental also for killers who don't 3gen deliberately like me. I play in 3gen sometimes but because the survivors 3gen themselves by reparing the incorrect generators, not because I pick 3gens and patrol them from the start of the game.

Devs already said survivors accidentally 3 genning themselves will still be able to happen, that they're not looking to stop that.

  • Yeah I'm glad they changed it back though I wish the bundle pack was still an option. For me it worked out cheaper to buy the DLC + cosmetic as a bundle than to buy them separately.

  • Try opening up Prime Gaming in an incognito tab. Sometimes old codes can appear. Opening in an incognito tab will give you the proper code if that's what's happening.

  • Yeah, I'm not sure if I'm understanding you. Are you saying that it's a simple cheap thing to make that can quickly and easily be applied to help sell more skins, killers, etc? Because if so then yes, I imagine the goal is to make sales and save money. As is the goal of any business.

  • I just played my first game against him and it was looking like a 4e but he had NOED and got a 3k. I managed to crawl out by the skin of my teeth, so was almost a 4k. I ran him a decent length of time I felt but I think my use of Lightweight threw him off a bit.

I've recieved *one* email since subbing, and of course it wasn't one with free bp 😭

BHVR must have felt my bad vibes as I literally just got the 100k bp email lol thanks guys!

  • They said before that it won't interfere with survivors accidentally 3 genning themselves. Your solution sounds like it would, as it would mean survivors could play alot more carelessly and recover.

  • The only time I'll take a hit on hook in good faith

You do realize that the killer is new and that many need to adapt to him?

Calling him broken is a bit of a stretch.

Gotta agree. I say exactly the same thing when killers complain immediately that a new killer is too weak just because they're not winning their games within a few hours of release. Some killers take time to learn to efficiently counter just like some killers might take longer to learn to efficiently play. People need to give at least a week for the devs to make proper assessments.

  • Devs have said before that 3 gen from the start strats were never an intended way of playing the game. So when the devs tell you you're playing the game wrong, I think it's expected that it's gonna be addressed. Also gen regression was nerfed because every single killer was stacking them and holding 3 gens for months on end, refusing to chase, so again not the way the game was intended to be played. Kind of brought that one on yourselves there.

And it was kind of amusing that the latter gen regression meta came on the heels of update 6.1, where meta survivor perks (DH, DS, IW, SC, etc) were nerfed because most survivors were running them and the lack of variety was frustrating for killers.

  • Yeah I immediately checked the store to see if there was anything available and no dice lol

Is this a team game? Not being able to communicate with your teammates or even see what kind of loadouts your teammates are running seems to indicate otherwise. The way the game is built is designed to make cooperation as difficult as possible. BHVR should just go the TCM route if they want to keep discouraging teamwork between survivors, and make it so every survivor can escape, without having to reply on their teammates.

Yeah, I'm a solo main player and I agree. I feel like for a supposed "team game" I see very little efficient team work unless I'm playing with a 3man. It's a team when you're in a swf but alot of times in solo it comes down to every man for himself. Alot of the time the game feels like a 1v1v1v1v1. But I'm not sure what BHVR can do about it at this point, as going the TCM route would be too complicated at this point in the game. And VC isn't gonna work with this community. Heck apparently it's barely used in TCM.

There's also a 100,000BP code in the email newsletter, for those lucky enough to have their newsletter sub work.

  • I actually thought her update was for the better, it just needed some tweaks as she currently is a solo stomper. I think alot of that is selfish team mates who don't seem to understand when another survivor needs a tape/TV much sooner than they do, especially when Sadako is spamming teleports, so I feel like something needed to be done to free up TV hunting. But ultimately if her kill rates are too high (I know they were already high per the 2022 stat release) then I'm not surprised they're reverting some changes.

  • I've run into this a few times when I've brought Built to Last to do a 'deplete' item challenge. I just ignore them and get it done. I assume they'll see BTL in post-game and feel bad. Other than that I don't use lockers unless the second last survivor is about to be hooked and the killer has BBQ. I can somewhat sympathise with other solo players who are probably over having useless team mates so automatically jump to conclusions when they see someone entering a locker. They probably don't consider the use of perks when they're having a knee jerk reaction.

  • I have suspicions every now and then but I don't let it interfere with my enjoyment of the game in general. Cheaters will eventually be caught and banned, so in the long run it won't pay off. It's a game, it's not that deep, and if they need cheats just to get a kill then I just feel embarrassed for them.

  • Can't see it happening. Because it assumes that everyone plays to escape and we know some people don't. Some people play for tome challenges, some play for dailies, some to meme around, some play for bp or try out new builds. Also, as anyone who has played this game long-term can attest to, a few gens popping early or one person dying early does not mean the game is 100% lost. Many players can and do get a snowball going in their favour.

Take advantage of perks. If your weakness is chase or gen pressure then bring perks to help with that. If you're getting tunnelled alot then come prepared for it.

  • Most killers (in my experience anyway) take time to learn. You just have to put the time in. I found Wraith pretty easy to pick up though, maybe try him. And expect to cop some losses while you learn.

  • With the exception of Skull Merchant (and to a lesser extent, imo, Knight) I think they've all been fine.

  • Killers apparently each have a separate MMR. The ones you meme with would be in low MMR, hence why you're getting baby survivors, and the ones you kill with would be at least in mid MMR at this point I would assume. At the very least you're efficient enough on those killers that matchmaking seems to think you need a challenge.

Personally, I'd cop the losses and just let yourself settle in a bracket that you're more comfortable in (the devs have said in the past that your strategy should win at least half the time, or else matchmaking isn't working. IMO it hasn't been working but the recent changes might be a step the devs are taking to get it working correctly, so I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt). But it really comes down to what you want out of the game. Best of luck.

  • I'm in the Australian server. I also agree with those who say you aren't facing 4man swfs every game. The last official stats we received in 2022 were something like 4% of the playerbase consist of 4man swfs. It may have increased but I doubt by much.

  • I see a good variety of perks, which is what the devs wanted after the 6.1 perk overhaul

  • Then how else will the gen explode when I hop off to go get the unhook?

  • Sounds like you're in a higher MMR bracket than you should be. The losses should eventually help you drop down.

  • Sounds like you're definitely in an MMR bracket you shouldn't be. I wouldn't even try winning - your opponents will only get more difficult. You're better off copping the losses and *hopefully* your MMR will drop to a more appropriate bracket.

This is a devs post that gives a general idea on how it works

  • I get like that at times. I haven't played in days and decided to hop on today. First two games were okay but by the third I was so far from caring and playing so half-assed that I even surprised myself. There's no rhyme or reason to my games anymore. I currently play with only 2 off-meta perks because what's the point in trying anymore. People complaining about literally everything is what ruins this game for the casual players imo.

  • @Fërgesë said:

Wonder what perks the next survivor chapter brings to us. Maybe a perk that makes survivors invisible to killers for a few seconds?

Seriously this pattern is getting old. Dead Hard to Made for This. We're going back to the same ol' circus because eventually we're going to have another overused and busted perk ahead in time.

The chapter is 2 months away and you're complaining about perks that don't even exist yet. I mean, the perks will inevitably be complained about but I feel like 2 months before is a record of some sort

  • I think it only needed the endurance and stacking removed

What's the con for Windows of Opportunity?

In the wrong hands it can be detrimental, ie those survivors who just run to every pallet they see and drop it, wasting all or most of the survivor resources in early game.

  • I think just wait and see what the MMR changes do. Those that tunnel will presumably end up putting themselves in a higher bracket than they should be and tunneling suddenly won't be as efficient when higher skilled survivors can just run them for 5 gens. Hiding prestige levels will help too as they won't be able to shop for easier opponents, so hopefully BHVR implements that too. They don't need to eliminate tunnelling, just make it not worth it in the long run.

  • Doesn't the game automatically DC the killer when they go afk now? If they haven't moved for a couple minutes it shuts down.

So the preference of BHVR is that killer is supposed to be stronger then survivor?!

Peanits never said that. Read his post again. I think we can reasonably judge what they think for ourselves, but he was clearly referring to player perspective in his post.

  • I dont understand why people use the term 'nerf' when it comes to PTB stuff. That stuff was never live. The point of PTB is to test stuff and for the devs to determine how best to implement said stuff. It was too strong in endgame and now it deactivates. This perk is still incredibly good, maps have increasingly been getting smaller with less pallets and more deadzones. And chases often happen around completed gens, more than people realize. That perk will give plenty of value before endgame even rolls around.

Thats really interesting tbh. Mmr is a weird thing. Like I'm a killer main who is not at all good at survivor and before the mmr stuff I'd be going against killers who knew how to do some really complex stuff that even I'd struggle with as killer and i couldn't do any counterplay. But now with the mmr update thing (idk what to call it) i feel like I'm being matched with killers who are just as good as i am. So i am interested to see if that's just me or not

I went through my results and got an updated solo survivor escape rate of 35%. Which kind of surprised me tbh. Maths isn't my strong point so had my hubby go over it 🤣 he got 35% too. That doesn't include hatch escape (since that doesn't count as an escape for the game) and I didn't count games where the killer let me leave through the exit gates either. I'll see if that changes much over the next few months.

  • I use Overcome. It comes in clutch alot, especially in endgame.

  • I track mine as well though have been slack over the past few weeks. With the MMR changes confirmed (even though I doubt I'm high enough to be impacted) I'll start tracking again too. Curious to see if much has changed. I need to recalculate my results but last time i did my overall escape rate since the start of the year was around 27%. My lowest week was 10%.

  • I don't think so. Most of the folk in high MMR are there because they're good at the game, with or without a perk. It doesn't show you how to run tiles at all, unless it gives you arrows showing you where to go. There's a reason people have recommended watching YouTube looping guides for several years and not just running WoO.

  • My favourite was hatch appearing next to a locker on RPD. I couldn't leave, just kept jumping into a locker until the killer showed up and closed it then hooked me. I haven't seen hatch appear there again since so don't know if it still happens

  • I generally have good success in planning my route ahead while on a gen and placing the turret strategically. Most people put them in front of the tunnel but the killer expects that. I'll place mine behind an obstacle the killer can't see when exiting the tunnel or from the gen, and in the vicinity of where I plan to run. When they're caught by surprise they're slower to react and generally it's easier to knock them out of crawler mode at the start of our chase.

  • Yeah I'll recommend it, but with warnings so they know what to expect

  • Killer's bad ping. Some Killers purposely use VPNs to play in distant servers because they know it gives an advantage (not saying this killer is doing that). On their screen the hit looks fine, on yours it looks like bs. Yes it's frustrating.

  • @akaTheBARON said:

I love lightweight and here's what I love about it. It doesn't seem that a lot of people use it which means killer mains don't complain about it 24/7 so it's likely going to stay as is for a long time. Having scratch marks vanish 5 seconds earlier than normal is crazy good IMO. But there's no cooldown, no requirement like needing to be injured, or token based. Just plug and play, you get value from it every second of the match.

I've been using Overcome and Lightweight lately and their strength is in the fact that it takes killers by surprise. They don't see it enough and don't expect it. I've been playing alot with literally only those two perks (my goal is to go perkless) and I find they give me a decent amount of chase value so I'm not completely useless to my team lol

  • I'm used to it at this point. There's usually at least 1 who will be healthy and never hooked, and they'll still leave their team mates in the dust. I just played a game where I was healing up and a healthy Feng comes running through with the killer not far behind her, sees me, and instead of turning around and leading the killer away (even at the risk of a hit, not guaranteed) she just keeps running past me leaving me in between her and the killer. In endgame it was the two of us left and she got hooked and I opened the exit gate. Could have left but opted to go back in to unhooked her. I went down and she didn't reach the gate, but killer dropped me at the exit after he hooked her which was nice.

The temptation to just leave her was there but I'd just left another game where a Claire opened the exit gate and left while I was hooked and another survivor was trying to save me. The Claire also hid most of the game and barely did a thing. But for every bad team mate there's always good ones in there. I remind myself of that often.

  • He didn't have a good game and is lashing out. I wouldn't have even bothered to reply. Just go next.

The people on his skill level typically are a pre made with full meta all around. That is the main issue and as scott has said that side of DBD is the most boring. I am sure he would be fine if he faced 4 players around his skill level who are just playing to chill. Where he would get fed up is facing people of his skill level in a premade with 4 med kits and map offerings. That is the key difference.

Yet that hasn't happened. The soft cap was raised a few weeks ago and all that he has noticed, by his own words, is that he is losing more often. Giving him less experienced survivors so he can 12 hook in peace is not the answer, for the numerous reasons that myself and many others have already given that I cbf covering all over again.

If he continues to play chill then his MMR will settle at a point where he isn't facing sweaty squads (provided matchmaking is working as intended - which clearly the devs are actually trying to make so). So again, nothing is stopping him from playing chill except the prospect of losing more often.

Did you even watch the video mate? That's literally what he said xD He doesn't change his ways of playing despite him not winning because he does not care about it that much, he only misses the chat interaction ^^ In the end he will probably just end up playing survivor more often and play a bit sweatier when playing killer.

I feel like we're just going in circles here. What is being addressed is his preference that matchmaking pair killers with less experienced survivors. He states that he usually wins his games while being able to chill and chat but that recently that hasn't been the case, which prompted this very video. Him saying that he may have to "play sweatier," or "be a dick to survivors" as he succinctly put it, suggests that yes, he does in fact care about his win rate because he is willing to change his gameplay in order to maintain it. He *can* still play chill with stricter matchmaking, literally nothing is stopping him except he knows he will cop more losses doing so.

It's all well and good that playing against weaker survivors allows him to play nicer, but that doesn't mean much to the 99.99999% of the people who are not playing against Mr Jund.

Scott does not care about winning though? As he said he has played the game for like 6 years, winning and the game itself just becomes not that big of a deal after all that time.

Great! Then playing with people on his own skill level will be no big deal surely
