Since the devs like to balance around kill rates, all this would do is increase them to the point where they'd start nerfing killers to balance it all out. Too much trouble for such an unnecessary change.
-
Thank you!
-
Nothing stopping you from playing without perks now. I do it sometimes.
-
IMO no, but they'd work for someone I'm sure. I find flashlights too hard, and really only use one when I find it in a chest so no point in me getting Champion of Light. Deadline is good as part of a build, not really independently. And Boon: Illuminate is good for new players.
-
I get annoyed at team mates too, probably unreasonable on my end tbh. I have to remind myself that survivors today have over 30 killers they have to learn to play against. Some of whom get tweaked or reworked, sometimes to the point of having to learn to counter them all over again. Chases vary depending on the killer's powers and perks, there are numerous tiles to learn, etc. It's easy to forget my own early days of DBD, but there's alot to learn for survivors.

Coincidentally, they listed Hawkins as having a lot of safe pallets.
As we all know, the upstairs pallet is basically a god pallet, so I figure they must've gotten confused in it's majesty.
That's the f-you pallet. Someone had a good laugh putting that one in

Yeah, that one! Is that one already out?!
Nah, it's not. I've seen people say it's a developer's banner but I'm not so sure about that. The Ace hacked it though, as he had the crow badge before Lights Out started, so he's definitely not a developer lol

Best part of this mod is the "no perk" side, that's why i'm loving it
Watching survivors running clueless around because they can't use WoO is priceless
This mod should be used by the Dev to realize how much perks impact on the game, more than anything else
I don't use WoO (or any meta perks) and I still ran around clueless. It's actually very disorientating as a survivor in Lights Out. Killers have a point of reference (gen auras) but if I can't recognize the tile I've just run into because all I see is a wall, then it's easy to get lost.

Yeah it's part of it, there's a crow banner to compliment the badge. I think it was leaked or some dude hacked it.
-
This was also posted on DBDs story on FB
-
Yeah I thought the same. Very happy that they allowed progression via regular mode. It's much appreciated.
-
Thank you for the edit. I was confused lol
Lights Out has definitely changed my perspective. I was excited for this mode because I was so over survivor in regular game mode. So it's saying something that after a few games in LO I was ready to go back to regular 🤣
-
I came across someone who had the developer's banner and the crow badge from the Lights Out tome before the tome had even started. People are hacking them sadly.

I recommend you check the Texas Chainsaw Massacre's discussion section on Steam. Filled with DBD warriors spamming "Dead game" posts or giving negative feedback posts while not even having the game on their account. DBD has an extremely hostile gatekeeping sect, like a religious sect with DBD being their God
I'm a member of some TCM groups and tbh, I feel like every time someone voices a criticism of the game they're instantly called DBD shills or something. I think alot of it is projecting - when TCM first came out, this forum was spammed with people talking up TCM and saying DBD is dead now etc etc. Now the assumption is that folks here are doing the same over there. I don't post on the Steam forum but I do browse there sometimes despite only having TCM on the PS5.
-
I'm not a fan of Lights Out, but as long as regular mode is still available I'm not fussed by them having these modifiers. Others will enjoy them, and I might find another I like.

Yes. I also thought it would have to be in the Nights Out-Mode, but someone wrote in the Forums that it also works in regular games and thank god for that.
I probably would not have tortured myself with that mode anyway. The rewards are only Charms and Player Card-Items, I would have simply missed out on those if they would only be obtainable in the Nights Out-Mode. (Well, and Rift Fragments, but those dont really matter to me personally)
Honestly, I probably wouldn't play anymore if it weren't for tomes, free rewards etc. They're the only things that give me a kick to load the game.

You can do the challenges in normal matches. Just saying.
Yeah I mention in a later comment that I just found that out
-
I'd agree if the lights weren't out. Hard to display game skills when you're getting disorientated in a deadzone. Otherwise yeah, I like playing without perks. I've seen streamers using filters, which have helped alot more with visibility. So I'm not inclined to believe everyone's playing with the same disadvantages.

I wasn't having fun at first either.
Then I took a step back and looked at it what it was: a new game mode for crybaby killers who want to consistently 4k every match, and a new game mode for survivors who have been asking the devs to "make DbD scary again."
I no longer go into the match expecting to escape and that makes it much more bearable for me.
Love the new Badge/Backgrounds from the Event Tome though, so I have to play Lights Out.
I just discovered in another thread that you can still progress the Lights Out tome through regular matches! So you don't have to worry about playing it if you don't want to

Yeah, tunneling goes hard in this Mode. At least this is a good indicator that you can nerf Survivor as much as you want, Killers will tunnel because it is the easiest way to win a game.
All Survivor-games I had were just tunneling.
I will 100% not play this mode again and I will most likely not play any future modes they release. At least you can do the Tome in regular games.
WAIT... you can do the tome in regular matches?? I've been torturing myself all day for nothing 😭

Pipping is enabled on side modes?
Yes indeed
-
I've depipped 5 times 🤣 why do I play this game. I've pretty much decided to just throw to get the tome done and I'm out. I try and I depip, may as well not try and take the depip or safety pip. I've pipped only three times and they were just.

You sure it's not just people using killers with tracking abilities? Legion's Frenzy still gives away survivor positions for example.
I had two quite obvious ones - a Bubba and a Doctor. The Doctor didn't use his shock therapy or static blast at all, which was another red flag because Lights Out mode seems like the best time to use it. Feels like they either both forgot they can't hide behind BBQ&C in this mode, or they didn't care.
-
This mode has just attracted cheaters. The amount of P0 or P1 killers I'm going against who steamroll everyone and seem to know *exactly* where you are even if you're hidden in a dark corner away from gens is crazy. I'm doing the tome then going back to normal mode. These guys are ruining it for everyone else.

Not really sweating. Killers are just encouraged to camp and tunnel to win, played one killer game and got a 4k without really trying. Can't imagine how easy it would've been if I did tunnel.
I had my first game and killer obviously had wallhacks lol so that was my first experience. I ran straight across the map to basement (in shack, gen was complete) while he downed and hooked someone on the opposite side of map. Then he made a beeline straight to me in basement. He had no reason to come straight there. I'd love to know how that's fun for them.
-
Same. Error 502
-
I haven't played yet, just woke up and was planning to. Here I thought people would treat this mode as a fun experience. Shame to hear it's still all sweating.

Maybe if the Devs properly gave killer buffs to where they dont need to tunnel to win, you would see less of it.
So over this argument. Killers were literally in the best spot ever during the gen kick meta era and *still* tunnelled. One of the devs said it best once - if you feel you need to tunnel to win, then you've probably tunnelled yourself into an MMR bracket that you don't belong in.
You're tunnelling because you want to win 100% of your matches in a game that's designed for you to win approx 60% of your matches. So no wonder you feel you "need" to tunnel. Fact is, you dont. You just need to get comfortable losing sometimes.
-
Usually because of map offerings
-
People rarely will go through the trouble of opening an account just to post something positive. They usually come here when they have an issue. It's why I was glad when the devs started spending more time on other social media platforms. I don't think the forum is the only (or best) place to obtain all feedback from.

A terrible day to have eyes, why Dweet why?

Why Yui is betraying Rin like that 😭

Perhaps, but it isn't a good look:
"If the player base is yelling at you, then you're doing something right."
Ah yeah. I suppose it depends on how it's interpreted. I took it to mean knowing the playerbase is still there vs worrying that the playerbase has moved on.

That quote actually appeared during one of those special loading screens we get on certain events and it was met with a lot of disapproval here.
For some reason I thought it was a quote from someone over at Gun Interactive, but wasn't 100%. Interesting that it got met with disapproval though. I would think apathy would be the worst thing you could get from a playerbase as it means people have stopped caring.
-
I'm not sure which game developer it was, but one of them said something along the lines of not being concerned when people voice their critiques, but being concerned when people stop voicing them at all. If they're purposely not addressing balancing issues then they're missing the people who eventually just shut up because they figure they aren't being heard/their concerns don't matter, and they just quietly find something else to play. There's only so far bad publicity can take you.
-
They'd need time, money, and manpower to maintain two different modes of gameplay long term. Better to test it out for a week first.

If Plaything and NOED weren't even considered to be killswitched for over a month, I don't see any reason why Wiretap should be disabled. Everyone said it's not a "game-breaking issue" when talking about Plaything and NOED and that we should just deal with it until next patch. :)
Call of Brine comes to mind. It was bugged once for 2 months and would regress almost completed gens down to 0% instantly. Wasn't kill switched. At least Wiretap has limitations.
Edit: sorry it was Merciless Storm, not CoB
-
It doesn't bother me personally if this is true, as I won't be buying anything until they fix matchmaking. I just hope it's not a bandaid solution they've come up with to continue making money with zero intention of improving the game.

At least once you set up the account it's really easy. Any time you earn the drops they're immediately added in your game.
My BHVR account always unlinks everything. But yeah, once you know what to do it's a few easy steps to claim it.
-
Could be trying to avoid rising too high in MMR so they stick to 2 kills

I would say prepare yourself. I've never been able to sustain that win rate. That run of games is pretty common in my experience. Then the next 10 or so will be complete disasters to try and bring your win rate back down. I go on a 5 game escape streak almost every week, and then it seems like I get punished. I stopped being hopeful that the win streaks were indicative of a change.
My experience too. I tracked my games for almost a year, and some weeks I'd have a like 35% escape rate and other weeks I'd have 10%. When people criticise SBMM, those sorts of discrepancies are what they're referring to. It often feels like your games are either all or nothing.

yes. I am explaining that road-map is end of march-beginning april. The upcoming PTB is feb 20 showcasing the new killer and new survivor. As with all PTB, they get released 2-3 weeks after, so expect the killer to be released beginning of march 1-5 on live. OP post is thinking this PTB is changing Doctor, Demo, Huntress, Hag, Clown alongside mangled. that PTB will be way later.
No, I understand that. You just said you weren't sure if there was a survivor included and I was just letting you know there was
-
Probably don't have the resources and manpower to manage two different modes of gameplay long term
-
@Devil_hit11 said:
no that is wrong, feb 20 PTB is new killer chapter. I don't know if there is survivor included. The road map PTB is in March-April and I would imagine that it feature extensive changes similar to Billy and Onryo changes on listed killers. Those mangled and killer changes are in like 2 months time. If I had to take guess on dates, it would be something like March 20 -> 3 weeks released on April 10-12.
They said during the anniversary that this upcoming chapter is both killer and survivor
-
Wallhacks aside, Hens is so amusing to watch. I think he was also the one who started/discovered the 3 gen kick meta? He's pretty clued on when it comes to perks
-
This already exists. It's an Oni perk called Zanshin Tactics. It's only up to 32m though I believe
-
Shame it's considered a bug, i didn't realize. I thought it was similar to just dodging an attack. It's handy against Hillbilly atm with his buff.
