It's considered a legitimate way to play, so they'll never ban it. Played against a Hag with a slugging build yesterday, who set up a web of traps around 3 gens. Surrounding resources were gone fast. She didn't hook a single person. Everyone just kept getting downed and picked up. I eventually didn't bother to recover and didn't let my team mates pick me up. Just wanted out lol funny thing was I'd literally just taken Boon: Exponential out of my build because I felt I wasn't getting use out of it
-
I thought there was something going on. I played for a bit, then hubby jumped on Fortnite. I started the game up afterward to play some more and I had a different survivor waiting than the one I'd played with earlier lol found it a bit odd

That's funny if people are using that map in the fear of getting Billy. That is one indoor maps I actually do really well with Billy.
I don't know for sure obviously but did find it interesting that a bunch of my games had the offering played. Only had a Billy in one of those games though, and he pretty much let us leave. I think he was just doing a Tome challenge.

I've never dropped so many indoor map offerings in my life. After the third game of getting instant chainsawed while trying to run between loops, I got over it. I replied to a post recently comparing Bubba (my main) to Billy and highlighted how ridiculous the new Billy is. However, people seem to think he is balanced now.
For reference Billy:
-Has no cooldown.
-Has overdrive.
-Has no tantrum when he bumps, if he does bump, he can almost instantly use his saw again.
-He can eat through pallets and keep his chainsaw going.
-He can zoom across the map and get someone down within the first 10 seconds of the game.
-And he can stand just outside of anti face camp, feathering his chainsaw and waiting for someone to unhook, while making his power more powerful with overcharge.
Billy definitely has it good right now, and it is evident when we compare him to Bubba.
So this explains why there were so many The Game offerings today lol guess you're not the only one

I'm pretty sure i played against a hacking Singularity earlier. Also I've been tempted to open a bug report on Shadow Step because some games it doesn't feel like the aura hiding aspect is working, with killers making a beeline to me after hooking despite the other survivors being elsewhere on the map outside of the boon radius. But those same killers also don't bother snuffing the boon out, despite it being right in front of them. So it makes me wonder if it's glitched or they're just wallhacking so they're not affected and don't care about leaving it up.
-
He just got a massive buff so he's pretty popular at the moment. Best bet is to just not play for abit, the hype will die down soon.

This is also an important point. You don't get anything for playing survivor compared to what you get playing killer. If the game is going to be balanced in the way it currently is then survivor bloodpoint gains need a massive overhaul. They don't seem to view this as an issue sadly.
Three games this morning. First, I was the chosen one with Lethal Pursuer and he tunnelled me out. Second, I happened to run past the killer's Devour Hope totem so he made it his mission to tunnel me out. Combined total of 10k bloodpoints and 2 depips. Third game was a Twins steamroll at 5 gens. Two survivors just let go after the first survivor died - can't blame them - but the killer was nice and gave me hatch at least, so I got some bp. But all up just a waste of my time. I didn't really get anything worthwhile.

Thanks for testing it out and letting us know. UndeddJester mentioned some good points but there isn't really any perfect remote play that I've found. It also varies from game to game.
DBD being an online game means you are using the PS5 for streaming to the portal, as well as, downloading/uploading while playing DBD. So it's kind of pulling double duty. It may be a cause of the stutter. Streaming a single player game should have a little less stutter but the latency may or may not change much.
The Ethernet thing is always a great idea. Outside of my phone I try to run all my PCs or consoles over Ethernet if possible. Your Internet connection plays a big role. Not just speed but the latency as well. Speedtest website can show your upload/download speed. It does a latency or ping test as well but that can vary for different scenarios. It connects to my ISP and says I have 5ms but with DBD it can range anywhere from 30-150ms.
Thanks for the info! I do think it's simply at the mercy of being a multiplayer game, you're right. My other games all work seamlessly which is nice, plus DBD is fine in menu, store, etc. The stutter is simply while in a match so it's definitely a connection thing. I think I've gotten it as smooth as I can with the Ethernet connection. So it's definitely not bad to play DBD on, but not good either lol
-
Maybe, but count as a victory? Dunno about that. Not sure you'd want to wind up in a higher MMR bracket because people DCd. In fact, that's probably why the devs don't count DCs in the kill/escape rates.

You will get condement if you stand within 16m of POWERED TV. You can remove stacks to simply interact with any online TV and put the tape to yellow TV (that shows you where it is).
Cheers. So by jumping to TVs in the directions I was running in, she was able to build Condemned on me because I was within 16m of that TV? And she was able to ensure I couldn't remove them at the same time because by teleporting it switched the TVs off? I spent what little gameplay I had just trying to avoid her and find a TV to get a tape.

Try these steps-
Log into your BHVR account, or create one if you don't have one: https://account.bhvr.com/account/my-account/games
Click on Dead By Daylight in your games library
Click on Manage Drops under the Twitch logo
Scroll down to this area and make sure everything is linked/connected. As you can see in the screenshot, mine has all unlinked. It does that often. Once you've connected everything, your Drops should appear in game
-
I don't want to make a new topic, can anyone share how to go against her now as survivor? I just played my first game post-update against her and didn't understand what to do. So she started off teleporting everywhere and my Condemned was building up. I tried finding a TV but as I tried to get a tape she came out of it and chased me down. She then tunnelled me and would teleport to whichever direction I was running and I couldn't get a tape. I ended up fully Condemned and dying. Depipped with like 4k bloodpoints. What's the best way to approach her now? My understand is that holding tapes won't stop Condemned now? Thanks

Thanks for testing it out. Was thinking about getting one some day, but when I can't play this game on it, then I will get it much later.
No worries!
I did manage to make it a tad better after reading some online posts. I hooked my PS5 up to my modem via Ethernet (easy enough since they're in the same room) and someone said if its hooked up to a Sony TV (it was) to unplug the PS5s HDMI cable from the TV when using the Portal. Doing these steps stopped the freezing and alot of the stuttering, but it still stutters abit in matches. Enough to bother me, some people might be fine with it. So worth trying that if you eventually buy it and have the same sort of issues.

How could they nerf it more? When you hit the skillcheck it instead stabs another survivor in the game and they lose a health state too?
Sounds like the perfect solo queue perk
-
Outside of events, I just play for the Tomes/Rift now. It's not worth my time anymore. I used to be able to get sacrificed but still leave the game with an average of 20k bloodpoints. My games these days are such steamrolls that too often I'm leaving with around 10k. It's simply not worth my time.

I always play as Jonathan with a BPS or Terrormisu if there is a Nancy in the lobby. I do anything to protect my celebrity crush 😍
I am appalled that he did not save you. Sickening.
Yeah I was thinking the same haha what kind of Jonathan leaves Nancy to die 😠

i don't dodge as survivor unless i requeue into people i had a bad match with (either because they were toxic in egc or not good in game) but this happens VERY rarely so i normally never dodge as survivor
as killer i dodge multiple p100s. like someone said earlier, i know that p100 doesn't mean skill, but i'd rather not take that gamble especially since i'm not very good at killer. i'd rather be pleasantly surprised the survivors are good rather than queue into people who have a higher likelihood of it. idk, for me it's justified because i don't like getting stomped especially since i don't really have a main killer i play and only really play killer for dailies. i think my best is hillbilly rn and even then i don't play him much and am still getting used to new hillbilly and addons.
Honestly, just play against the P100s. I get matched with a number of them (it's been long enough that they're becoming commonplace) and 9/10 are average. This screenshot I took was me dying on hook while these two P100s were hiding in corners. They even had health states to spare/hook trade if necessary, and the game was completely winnable. One was a Jonathan Byers too, and at P100 they had to have been playing for years, since the original ST chapter was released. And he still hid.
Don't be scared of them. If anything I get tempted to dodge them, as survivor, because they play like this.
-
Killers got compensated as a whole for a mechanic that's only detrimental to a minority (ie 3 genners).
-
Most Billy's I've played against are doing the tome challenges, that's probably why there's so many of them. They're always doing the undetectable challenge, which is quite hard.

Yeah, I think Sony was attempting to compete with the Switch, but to do so had to find a way to get PS5 games on a handheld device...
Which is... ambitious at least... but the only way they could even try was to try to stream to the Portal instead of having its hardware run the game itself...
It's effectively a wireless TV with buttons 😅
Yeah hubby and I were pretty disappointed to discover that lol I was playing on the Portal and it was reflected on the TV the console was hooked into. Wasn't expecting that lol

It might be to be fair, more often than not upload speed is an afterthought, because your average user only needs to download really with minimal uploading.
You can test it with https://www.netmeter.co.uk/
Preferably from your PlayStation browser if possible to account for your Playstations connection to your router as well. You'll also need to check the network where you're connecting your portal as well (though I doubt this is where any bottlenecks are, if you're on 5g or WiFi connection then you should be getting bandwidth in Gigs).
I'm trying to think how you'd test the portal itself, because the quality of it's WiFi adapter and ita connection ti the network will also be a factor as well... but I'd guess that wasn't the issue (hopefully).
Regardless it should help you narrow down what part of the system is slow for you.
EDIT: also depends on PS Remote Play, and what it allows. For peace of mind with the portal, try playing it via remote play from inside your oqn network, cause if it isn't able to do that, you've go no hope 😅
Thanks for the info! I'll test the speed from the browser and see how I go. Kind of funny that the portable Nintendo Switch works smoother than this 😅
-
Yeah I'm seeing lots of hatch at shack offerings in my games
-
@UndeddJester said:
Your big issue is that you're dependant on the connection from your home network to your PS Portal.
Remote Play can be used with a mobile data connection or Wi-Fi. Broadband internet with at least 5Mbps is required. For a better Remote Play experience, a high-speed connection of at least 15Mbps is recommended using either Wi-Fi or mobile data connection
Most home Internet connections don't care about upload speed and your average hoke network I would doubt is really capable of the kind of upload speeds you would want to do this smoothly.
I think the main advantage of the Portal to my understanding was if your family was watching TV or whatever, you would be able to play the PlayStation still without having to move it or set up another TV.
Cheers. I thought I had a good internet connection, but if it's stuttering then I'm guessing not?

Welcome to 2024. Everything is nazi and "problematic".
Except the site I read said lace code started back in the 1970s, not 2024 lol so blame the hippies I guess?
-
Just an update - got the Portal and I wouldn't recommend DBD on it. The skill check delay was frustrating and I missed so many, but the worst was the jumping and freezing. I went down in chase at one stage because my game froze for a couple seconds. I'll use it when away from home but at home will use the console instead.
-
So I googled Doc Marten lace code and you're actually right. Lace code in the punk scene has red as neo-Nazi. TIL!
I'll add that I obviously don't think this was intentional on BHVRs part.

Isn't calm spirit a decent perk? Haven't played for a while
I'm referring to the "buff" it received in update 6.1. They added the silent chest unlocking/totem cleansing but in exchange it's 30% slower, which makes it hard when you're the one finding a hex totem. The devs called it a buff but it's widely agreed by the general player base that the downside negates any apparent buff.
-
I actually think it'll get the Calm Spirit nerf. Something will get added to it, seemingly a buff, but the conditions around it will be detrimental and benefit the killer in some capacity. Devs will act like it's a buff though.
-
I'll only dodge if I've played with them before and they were unpleasant.
-
So I used to play on the Switch and in that situation I'd say it doesn't matter. Any time I hit a great skill check on the Switch it was purely by accident. But at least having them there means you have the opportunity to hit a great, so it's probably better than nothing.
-
A killer probably shouldn't win against a top tier, best of the best survivor team. A team like that *should* be hard to beat. And vice versa.
-
It's definitely in a bad spot. I'm only playing for events and the Rift these days. At least I get something for my efforts that way
-
Yeah I quite like it too. Love Mikaelas cosmetic and the animated banner and profiles card are pretty cool
-
I'm having the same issue
-
I don't get your logic. If he's easy to go against now then why would people want to get him nerfed?
-
Best way to find out is just play some games and see how you go
-
I always do test runs in bot mode. Just to get an initial handle on the powers. I assume irl survivors are looking for a proper game and not me test running killers, so I take advantage of the bots. I wouldn't rely on matchmaking, it hardly does what it's supposed to do.
-
Yup. Survivors are certainly feeling the love of these updates!

I also think this is an experiment to see what happens when multiple game modes exist at the same time.
Also, is anyone actually excited about this event? It sounds like a broken mess. SWFs using voice comms to coordinate flashlight saves sounds obnoxious enough that I’d rather just skip the whole event as killer. The game mode is so dark that it’s not practical to search the area for flashlights, and SWFs can use voice comms to alert each other when they are being picked up, which allows flashlight saves even if the flashlight user can’t see the killer while they are hiding.
You can't bring any items in, you can only search chests in game, and visibility is restricted to like 4m. Good luck to anyone who can navigate that well enough to get a flashlight save
-
It wouldn't be the 3 gen mechanic if you could still kick it. Unless it grows every time you kick it until it's covered maybe? I doubt you kicked it 8 times as your photo shows the survivors have only done 1 gen, so it can't be that far into a game.
-
Was the aura issue with Plaything fixed? It's been bugged since start of December and I didn't see any mention in the patch notes
-
Did a survivor have Repressed Alliance maybe?
-
I'm normally excited to play when a new update comes out but I haven't played a single game and my desire to is zero. I've played long enough to know exactly what to expect and I cbf honestly.
-
I think it's simply an ego thing. They don't cope well with losing. Possibly has something to do with real life inadequacies.

I agree, but they likely won't because why spend the time and resources on that when they have content creators doing it for them? It's likely the entire thought process behind the Fog Whisperers program.

bro SWF isn't all about trying to be the next and best comp team, its just about messing around with friends and having a good time
Didn't say anything about wanting to be a comp team, not sure where you got that from my reply. Presumably when people want to play in a swf, and you offer yourself up to be part of their swf, then you need to ensure you're available to play at the same time as everyone else. I am a stay at home mum whose kids dictate when I can and can't play.
-
Just play normal. Most survivors would probably just appreciate leaving with some bloodpoints.
