  • None yet, as I'm reserving judgement until I get to try it out for myself. I do feel there may not be alot of incentive for survivors to enter the void realm (that smoke bomb or whatever in the trailer looks like it only lasts maybe a second, so I dunno if it's going to make much of difference but will see).

I complain they can do both now without wasting effort (many pallets on map + no counter from killer side + huge gen speed)

You're ignoring that the gen speed increase is only if the game is snowballing too fast in the killers favour, and gens will actually slowdown if the game is snowballing too fast in the survivors favour. So if gen speeds increase it means you're already winning.

  • They're increasingly removing pallets. I was on Borgo the other day and wish I'd recorded it, a whole large section of the map had no pallets. And there were multiple gens within that area. I like to look at my nearby options before hopping on a gen so I can prepare where to go but there was just nothing.

It wasn't that there weren't enough PLAYERS

It was that there weren't enough KILLERS

The inability to have duplicate killers with only 5 available killers made for insufferably long queue times.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3810815#Comment_3810815

Normal games had EVEN LONGER queue times than 2v8 did. 45+ minutes at times and that is WITH cross-play enabled.

Oh you mean everyone wanting to play Huntress or Wraith? So it was a self imposed long queue time and I guess the devs are anticipating the same this time around

  • @Seph64 said:

Queue time in 2v8 was not related to balance, it was the fact that there wasn't enough killers but also because MMR.

All these changes are absolute garbage, BHVR really have no idea what they are doing. The mode was fine, with a few tweaks but NOT LIKE THIS.

If there wasn't enough killers then survivor queue times would be long and the 400% incentive would be on killer. You have it backwards

  • This is standard when one side gets something good. People forget that BHVR have the stats. Like with Lights Out, there's a good chance alot of survivors went back to normal mode quickly and this is their way of enticing them back. I wouldn't care if they reverted it back to what it was originally, if killers don't mind the long queue times then whatever.

  • Yeah, they generally have something for everyone and every preferance. I think overall their cosmetics are quite tame. I was so confused when a bunch of people lost their minds over Sable's Waterfront Massacre bikini lol I wish I had so little problems in life that I could concern myself with what a fictional character was wearing

  • I don't have an opinion either way, but the reason i usually see is that bloodlust was introduced as an answer to infinite loops, which no longer exist anymore

Yeah, but think about the bad advertising if the Blight player that wins 100s of games in a row had a hard match every 3 or 4 games /s

On a serious note, I don't get it either. I don't get how developers look at stuff like this and think it's fun for the survivors or healthy for the game overall. I routinely go against a pretty notorious win streak youtuber and the solo queue games go about how you'd think. They are terrified of matching sweaty players against equally sweaty opponents, and I couldn't for the life of me tell you why. You create entire swathes of entitled babies when you normalize winning dozens of games in a row, and then it becomes really difficult to manage the community or even get relevant player feedback.

The amount of killers that post on social media complaining about survivors, that then clarify that they win 90% plus of their matches and it was just one match they lost that got them frustrated, is interesting and exactly as you say - it makes it hard to get genuine and relevant feedback. Losing one game every now and then isn't abnormal and doesn't mean your opponent and their perks need nerfing.

  • Yes it was an option to vote for! Interestingly enough, I didnt see a banner that was apparently available to vote for. Not sure if it was a mistake or they didn't make everything available to everyone?

  • I don't think it needs to be basekit but it definitely came in clutch in Chaos Shuffle when I was unlucky enough to get No Mither at the same time. The killer wanted me and only me from the get go, guess he figured I'd be an easy kill. Ended up getting a 4 escape and DS definitely saved my butt lol I've never actually used it before and I've been playing for a number of years. Good perk.

  • If your team mates are trying then it's always worth playing through. I've played alot of games where everyone is dead with multiple gens to go but everyone was at least trying. I don't often see people let go in those sort of games, even when it's clearly going to be a loss.

Then you have games like one I had on Nostromo the other day. Two team mates doing who knows what the whole game. It was tempting to let go on hook ngl when i could see them just standing there. One of them even runs past in chase where I'm trying to heal up, does a u-turn and takes the killer to me and points at me. Thankfully the killer takes him out and gives me a reprieve. Their post-game bloodpoints reflected their lack of doing anything. If team mates aren't going to try then I get why people let go.

The maps have been noticeably shrinking (maybe too much in some cases), so at this point I'm gonna go with no on that question.

And I don't think the gates are too fast to open, but I do think they should regress (so no more 99ing gates).

But along with that change, I would find some way to code things so gates never spawn too close together (and never on the same wall, which is ridiculous).

Disagree with regressing. When you're the last survivor sometimes the only way to get out is to open it until just before the first red light, wait for the killer to patrol past, then finish opening it. And even if you are successful at that it's usually only by a split second. Maps are increasingly shrinking so often that doesn't even work, and more and more killers have transporting powers.

  • Thanks for sharing. And honestly, Twitter is a cesspool so don't blame you for deactivating.

  • Did they say it was to combat camping and tunnelling? All I remember is they felt it was necessary after increasing gen times by 10s a couple of years ago and observing the results of that

  • It's funny when people talk about tier lists like it means anything to the devs. Tier lists are player opinion. The devs are only interested in balance. As someone else said, there are 5 people in a match, not just you.

  • I had a game on Borgo yesterday that i was tempted to record a clip of because there was literally one pallet in one large section that happened to have a pretty tight 3 gen. Knew straight away that game was going to be a loss..

  • There's always going to be a meta. Play survivor and you'll see the same perks on the killer side every game too.

  • I always save those ones for last when I'm able to, so i can just leave it there and slowly get it completed. The hardest ones for me are the open exit gate challenges. Because even if you manage to make it to endgame, there's no guarantee you'll get to open the gate before a team mate does.

  • High MMR is supposed to be intense. It's full of the best players all trying their hardest to win, you're not going to find chill players there and shouldnt expect to. As for the cheaters, all you can do is keep reporting unfortunately. Hopefully one day they have a better system in place to deal with them. Mid MMR is the best place to be, maybe try copping a bunch of losses until you fall into a bracket that's less stressful?

  • A mix of both. I don't mind a player who is aware of their own weaknesses. If they'll go down 10s into chase then that's not good for the team either. But if they're aware enough of the fact that their hook states are also a team resource, and they use it appropriately, then it's fine. If they haven't been hooked yet but their death hook team mate has almost finished a much needed gen, then great, take aggro and give up a hook state to buy time. As long as they're still hitting gens while the other survivors are keeping the killer busy, then it's fine.

  • I remember everyone was confused by it back when it came out too

I don't see that at all. They're punishing survivors by nerfing her twice? And she's only "badly designed" in that teams of 2 noobs and 2 good players can't beat her, because the noobs don't use strategy or game awareness and will just die or give a free 3-gen. So if being able to beat bad survivors is bad design, piggybacking off of BHVR's MMR being terrible for solo, then sure.

You misunderstood what I was saying to Aven. By "they" I mean the people Aven is talking about, not the devs. Those people would rather punish survivors with harsher DC penalties or remove the ability to Kobe or simply just force them to keep playing against SM in any way, rather than admit that the problem lies with her design. Her power is easy to use but it's counter is tedious. People can do it but the effort isn't rewarding. We can agree to disagree.

  • I don't use Windows or exhaustion perks in normal mode and i still can't loop 😂 I'll also point out that it's the same on the flipside - I don't see tunnelling very often in my regular games but I saw it almost every single game yesterday in Chaos Shuffle. Not having aura perks or 4 slowdown perks to fall back on apparently hurts alot of killers. Maybe this mode is a good wake up call to everyone that an overreliance on perks can hold back skill development?

  • That's what I like about it tbh. The real test of your game skills is in playing perkless, imo. And unlike in normal mode, where playing perkless could doom your team, this mode can make everyone else pretty much perkless with you lol I did get MFT+DH in a game yesterday though which was actually nice when a killer decided to tunnel me. So sometimes the game throws you a bone.

I'll try to put my message in a few words: If you play as survivor and you're not being a team-player (not healing, not unhooking, not repairing gens, not taking hooks or hits, etc) — you will be considered BY YOUR TEAM as a troll and be reported rightfully so.

    There's a reason of why it's called 4v1 - A team vs 1.

Well you are free to have your own opinion tho…

Why are you saying I'm being a "pinata"? What is pinata even?

To be fair, this is how the game is advertised:

    "Survive Together… Or Not

Survivors can either cooperate with the others or be selfish. Your chance of survival will vary depending on whether you work together as a team or if you go at it alone. Will you be able to outwit the Killer and escape their Killing Ground?"

It's description on BHVRs site also says "the deadliest game of hide and seek"

People playing selfishly shouldn't be reported and aren't necessarily trolls. That's just wasting Supports time. They're playing the game they bought.

  • The folks who fix the bugs aren't the same folk who make the skins. Are you suggesting the cosmetics designers become unemployed for a few months? They need their pay cheques too

  • Yup the Halloween cosmetics come back every year

Didn't Jeepers Creepers get a reboot under a new director? I heard that somewhere before. Maybe that'd be a way to do them without going to the previous.

Thing is, bringing the franchise into the game is advertising for his work. People would go watch the original trilogy, just like they did when both Chucky and Pinhead entered the game. Lots of players had never seen their movies and ran to watch them. It still brings attention to and demand for the guy's original work, even if he did allegedly sell the rights (which there hasn't been alot of clarity around tbh, no one knows the details of the deal).

  • Yeah, it's a shame. Last Chaos Shuffle was so chill, but every single one of my games today had camping or tunnelling.

  • The creator is a despicable human being, so

Nope No GIF - Nope No Danny Devito - Discover & Share GIFs.gif

Maybe some of your people who are more knowledgeable than me can answer this.

After game, there is this question at the top of the screen with 5 dots.

Is there even a point to this existing? Does it actually have any impact on anything? Does BHVR actually care and/or consider it for any reason?

Apparently. I use it pretty much after every game, whether good or bad. It's my feedback.

  • Sounds like you just want to play a murder simulator where your opponents have no autonomy. Maybe this game isn't for you

  • I feel like there'd be less Us vs Them if people understood that when it comes to balancing its a game of give and take. You see it in the people who constantly call for and are happy with nerfs to the opposite side, but then get upset when their own side cops nerfs a few months later. Then suddenly they're calling the devs x-sided. I've said it several times on this forum but be careful what you wish for. Taking tools away from one side can result in the other side getting too much success and needing to have their own tools taken away.

I think my favorites are the hill totems, which are like beacons.

I'm sure I didn't imagine it, but didn't they used to just be standing there out in the open but then eventually they built the rock up to hide it abit?

  • They haven't told us why, but the most common theory is that they probably plan to sell moris in the store in the near future. We see recent skins that come with special moris, so it's not an unreasonable theory. I guess trying to spotlight moris by making them available in every game to finish it off is their selling point. The Finisher Mori change has never been popular but they keep pushing ahead with it anyway.

  • They don't need to be bannable. They just need to come with risk. Anti-tunnel perks are a good option if you find you're being tunnelled alot. For slugging I've been bringing Exponential to pretty good results. I don't mind either as I don't see them alot, but I cop alot of slugging for the 4k and I hate it with a passion. The game is over, you've won, your ego shouldn't get in the way of letting me go to my next match.

  • A few years ago I'd have said OP but in modern DBD I'd say it's worth a try.

  • It's alot more chill, imo. Really competitive folk likely won't enjoy not having their perks of choice, so I feel like they tend to stay out of it. I think if you're a more casual player you'll find it more fun.

  • Content creators are probably a factor. Those who literally play this game for a living, and particularly those who are good at this game and draw in a large audience, are likely to fall into that outlier bracket. They have a lot of hours and a lot of experience, and their winstreaks attract views. Having them sit in long queues wouldn't be good advertising for the game or keep viewers engaged.

Funny how survivors had an issue with 40+ minute games then but yet they are fine waiting the 40+ minutes hiding out to get the hatch when it's 2 v 1

Most of us aren't fine with that either

  • The point of the modifier is that everyone is on equal footing RNG-wise. Yeah, one side might get some good perks but there will be games where it's the other way around. Regardless, you have the option to play normal mode until a modifier you enjoy comes out. This game can be played even with rubbish perks. If you feel you need certain perks in order to play then normal mode is more for you.

  • "When gen regression was strong, survivors had an issue with that"

Yes, we had an issue with 40+ minute games, that is true.

  • I think it's fine as is. And I'm a solo survivor main

  • @Volcz said:

If this is the route we're going, I should start demanding a refund for investing in a character for certain perks that I bought.

But I'm not going to do that cause I'm not entitled. You bought something knowing it full well could be buffed or nerfed. You got the latter. Now suddenly its 'I want a refund or compensation'. No sorry, it doesn't work like that.

Yup. I own every single survivor and yet only play a small handful of them. I bought them for their perks, most of which have been changed (nerfed) since. Bring back old Dead Hard, CoH, DS, IW, etc etc or else I demand a refund

    /s just in case

It's insane to me that people buy into live service games without understanding exactly what that means lol

  • Games haven't felt good for awhile. Upcoming patch is, imo, going to make them feel even worse. I've had no desire to play lately.

  • Didn't like it at first but change is hard. I'm okay with it now. It's nice being able to find the exit gates without having to be literally right in front of it

  • Her power is easy to use while its counter is tedious

  • Yeah nah, I'm with you on this one. At least one person needs to be on a gen at all times or the game is a loss. They needed to play smarter. It's not even being altruistic at that point imo (I've had these games too), it's just making bad choices.
