  • I'm neutral on him. Most boring for me is still SM and to a lesser extent Knight

  • Nurse, Demo, Oni, Pyramid Head, and Singularity

  • I'm pretty sure alot don't play her. She simply provides a convenient excuse for them to rail against survivors like Feng, Mikaela, and Sable, who get alot of cosmetics. Because they're not wrong when they say "they get too many and poor Haddie gets barely anything," no one can argue with that, but they also arent necessarily saying that they play Haddie and will buy any cosmetics she does get.

Most pallets in the game have short walls, and those who have tall walls are usually safe loops that force a kick in most scenarios (Jungle Gyms, Long/Short walls, main buildings, etc) making only really a few killers able to take advantage of it.

Also, people are gonna have to adapt to the aura meta with a perk that has been WAY too underrated for way too long, and thats Object of Obsession.

So yet another perk brought into the survivor meta for killers to complain about? It used to be "just bring Distortion!"

With Weave we were told to pick up the items and put them in a far off corner. What can we do about pallets? Until survivors can break them or pick them up and move them into a corner too, the new ZT is ridiculous I'm sorry. You can bring Any Means Necessary but it still benefits the killer because the pallet is still there for them to use. It makes unarguably the most important survivor resource a killer resource. Honestly one of the most laughable perk changes I've seen to date.

There seems to be an increasing tendency from the devs these days to make changes to or release survivor perks that benefit the killer. Alot of the new chapter survivor perks require a large survivor time investment for minimal team or personal reward.

I'm not sure who the devs are listening to on these changes but they need to stop.

  • Weirdly enough, I've been getting 150% on survivor the last few days around midday my time.

I feel like people are over-reacting personally.

The Skull Merchant changes could have been handled better I agree but it's also not the end of the world.

There is almost zero chance Zanshin and Corrective Action go live as they are. No idea why people are talking about them as if they're already in the game.

The Mori system could have been handled better but it's also not a big deal. People talk about photobombing and what not as if it was a super common thing. I don't think I've even seen a Mori in months unless I ran one for a challenge and none had photobombs. They're basically extinct.

Distortion was killed which is a shame but they might find some middle ground come live. That is the point of PTB's after all.

Everything else in the patch was either a good change or so minor it's not worth mentioning.

I agree some stuff could and should have been handled better but all the doom-posting is way overblown.

I'd agree if it weren't for the fact that we were told about this upcoming update for months now. I was looking forward to it. This does not feel like an update that's had months of preparation.

  • I've been using Boons alot lately and I swear the totems all disappear whenever I do. I'll check all the usual spots and nada. Yet when I don't have a boon perk I feel like I see a totem in every tile

  • No one asked for the Finisher Mori, and giving a nerf to Distortion that renders it useless while giving wall hacks to Zanshin Tactics is just laughable. Their "we don't know" answer to someone asking about the synergy potentials of Corrective Action during the stream tells me they're just throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks. Zero thought to the actual gaming experience. This update might actually be the thing that gets me to leave the game because there's no thought to it and they clearly aren't listening to the general playerbase.

  • So hard to choose. Just too many good entries. I don't play Sable much anymore but I apologise to everyone, she did get my vote because her cosmetic is so nice. I also voted Jake and Kate. For killer, the ghost Dredge, Singularity, and Spirit got my votes.

I really wanted a new cosmetic for Gabriel but wasn't overly impressed with the devs pick. Dont get me wrong, it looks great, but there was another Gabriel entry I saw on Reddit that I preferred more and was bummed it didn't get picked.

It got my vote :) so did kitty and froggy

  • I actually think he's alright. I'm not too good at dodging his slice and dice, but aside from that I don't have any issues going against him

  • Probably their way of addressing slugging. Lots of killers claim they'd slug because there were no hooks around. I don't think that was entirely true personally. But yeah, that's my theory anyway.

  • Same. Chaos Shuffle is the best

  • There's a video on YouTube that a Spirit main put together where they had their friend try every single survivor in every state of health doing everything, including hiding while healthy. They managed to find and hit them out of phase like 99% of the time just by the breathing alone. Fwiw, I think Saga Anderson (Alan Wake legendary) was the trickiest survivor for her to pinpoint. She's the quietest apparently.

  • I was disappointed with the questions I got. They were about Castlevania, 2v8, Lights Out, and Frank Stone. That's not what I want to give feedback about.

  • I'm not fussed tbh if they get rid of them. Most map offerings I see as a survivor main are from like Myers or GF or SM wanting Lerys, Hawkins, or Midwich. Or the odd Blight with Autohaven.

  • I imagine the devs will follow the stats. If aura read perks prove too effective in the wake of Distortion nerf, then yeah, I don't doubt they'll end up on the chopping block

i think that’s silly, why would they lock out other players from cosmetics just because they couldn’t play at a specific time frame?? do they not want money? because i’m willing to spend money for it and im sure plenty of other people would too.. could they not just implicate a system where you could buy things called “deep rift keys” and you could buy old deep rift outfits with said keys??

A few people have brought it up in the Feedback section. It can't hurt for you to do so as well, hopefully they change things up and you get the cosmetic one day

  • I think it's the inevitable lower kill rate and higher skill ceiling that has people upset tbh. So this reaction is to be expected and actually understandable. She will require more effort to get the same results.

  • I don't think the deep Rift cosmetics will be available again. Never say never of course but that was the last we'd heard around it. The non-deep Rift version of that cosmetic will hit the store at some point though

I obviously disagree with the notion this is illegal or genuinely punishable, but their request has at least a little validity if it's "I would like an auric cell refund as the changes made to the character are intended make them entirely ineffective so players do not play her," which is obviously different from "I would like an auric cell refund because my character's power was nerfed a little bit". The latter is an attempt to balance a character, the former is a deliberate attempt to ruin the balance of a character, so it's going to get waaay more pushback. If people buy something and it's intentionally ruined so its not appealing to use ever, then the consumer will likely request compensation in some form. Nothing legally compels BHVR or any seller to do this, it's just appealing to their morality and people are honestly valid for doing so lol, cause why not?

"I would like an auric cell refund as the changes made to the character are intended make them entirely ineffective so players do not play her,"

The devs never said that though. That's what a content creator has claimed Mandy said when she didn't and now a bunch of people have ran with it. Typical of the internet tbh. The changes were never so people stop playing her. So I guess good luck to folks wanting to claim a refund based on that.

The problem here is that survivor teams who make no mistakes will pretty much always win. Killers who make no mistakes can still lose. At highest skill levels, it's about killers having to take advantage of survivor's making bad plays. If they aren't, then unless the killer is playing nurse\blight, it's over before it begins.

I don't think games with zero mistakes exist. No one plays perfectly. There's also alot of RNG and other variables at play in a match. So I personally don't put much stock into "zero mistake" hypotheticals.

High MMR is, in my personal opinion, an anything goes bracket. The people in that bracket are there because they use the best perks, items, add ons, and probably every dirty trick in the book. If that means having to use Nurse or Blight, then so be it. Their opponent will likely come at them with the same energy they are bringing. If they can't compete then they shouldn't be there, or the simplest answer is they aren't in that bracket and matchmaking has failed them. I am happy to never enter that bracket for as long as I play, but I don't understand why it gets brought up so much on this forum tbh. Most of us aren't there and never will be there.

I do agree the Poised change is good and I would prefer just… everyone to have an aura read and chase meta rather than the stale, boring 3gen versus genrush meta we currently have. Just gut every single generator perk and item to the ground, PLEASE. It's so much more fun to see chase shenanigans than another four stacked gen slowdown or a bunch of sweaty genrush.

Looking at survivor gen perks, Hyperfocus is like a 1.6% pickrate, while perks like Overzealous and Fast Track are less than 1% pickrates. Prove Thyself is semi-popular (6% i think) and Deja Vu is undoubtedly meta. But most of the survivor top 10 perks are chase related - WoO, Lithe, Adrenaline, Iron Will, Sprint Burst, Dead Hard, and DS. Resilience is popular but used for both gens and chase.

Fwiw I don't like referencing Nightlight but it's really all we've got and comparison to official stats in the past show it's close enough, so I'm just drawing from there.

The killer meta is the opposite - mostly gen slowdown, and a couple chase perks. I think it kind of goes to show where each side is overall weakest - for killers it's generally map pressure, for survivors it's chase/tile knowledge. So all that to say, I can't see the meta changing much but for those of us who aren't interested in playing meta we need more toys for sure.

they are completely broken then somehow lol, i get 100% and 200% bonuses for lights out mode and some people also said incentives are being very weird. i just hope it's not intentional and just bugged.

I do think they are bugged. Or just having the second game mode has them jumping back and forth quite a bit

  • I play Cheryl sometimes just to listen to her lobby music. On the flipside, I usually mute my TV when I play a Resident Evil survivor. Their lobby music makes me uncomfortable for some reason.

  • I had 150% bonus yesterday playing survivor in normal mode

  • I can't play it but I want to see someone test out Poised because I want to see how often it actually works. The change sounds like it's only when you first touch a gen but then the description says you can keep an eye on where the killer is throughout the game. Hoping it's the latter. Killers have so many aura reading perks, it's time survivors get their own.

  • The better players should always win. That's how games should work. If one side steam rolls the other however then it's more evidence that the matchmaking system isn't working. I've had countless games end at 4k with 0 gens done. On the flipside, I've had games where all gens get done and the killer has only 1 or 2 hooks. Both are a failure of matchmaking.

  • One thing I love from this community is how survivors are simultaneously too strong and too weak. Complain about solo games and killer mains will tell you it's because of bad team mates. Killers complain about survivors and fellow killer mains will assure them the game is survivor sided.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

I will never understand why people actually think that Skull Merchant is nerfed due to her Killrate, but are not tired of explaining that her Killrate is mainly due to people not wanting to play against her.

But that she gets changes, because People dont want to play against her is not understandable for those people.

They understand that. But their solution to the problem is to punish survivors rather than admit she is a poorly designed addition to the game

  • This version is far more balanced than the original version, and I gave it a good go while doing the Tome but it's just not enjoyable for me. I don't think there's anything they can really do to make it more tolerable for me personally, not even the bp bonus is enticing enough. It's always good to have something different though, and I'm glad the devs are giving us these modes and modifiers.

Just curious cause I love reading over the devs comments on all the new things they are trying, where did they say that about lights out?

IIRC it was an interview Mathieu Cote did a few months back. He said they were surprised by how fast most players went back to regular mode after trying Lights Out the first time

Its either agree or you cant play the game. It's hardly voluntary.

Unless someone is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to play this game, then yes, you do so voluntarily.

Not true. many businesses thrive despite people returning purchased items.

My point was that they have changed, at one point or another, every single killer in this game. As well as a large chunk of the perks. So yeah, if they had to refund every single one of those purchases it would not be good for the bottom line. Skull Merchant isn't special.

  • If they refunded people every single time they changed a killer or perks or anything else that people had spent money on, they wouldn't be in business very long. You need to be aware of what a live service game is before you spend money on it. Now that you know, you can make more informed purchases in future.

  • I had one Tombstone Myers doing the face camp thing, so he could Mori as soon as they jump off. I don't usually mind Tombstone Myers and will often give the kill in case theyre trying for the achievement, but that felt cheap asf. So I jumped on a fresh gen right next to the hooked survivor, so the anticamp wouldn't increase, and kept missing skill checks so he couldn't Mori me either. He wasn't happy.

  • Yeah once word gets out about something in the community, usually by content creators, things ramp up. I've finished the LO Tome so thankfully don't have to put up with the Dredges lol good luck

  • Honestly, bring Boon Exponential. I massively pissed off a Spirit who was slugging for the 4k. Myself and the last survivor just kept picking ourselves up. She eventually hooked me and let hatch play out, but gave me a few good whacks on hook so I guess it was effective lol

  • Come back for Chaos Shuffle. It was so chill last time.

  • The devs said their stats show that on average killers kick a singular gen much less than 8 times, which is why they chose that number of regression events. They didn't anticipate many killers will reach that amount, and in my experience thats been the case. If you were kicking gens 10+ times pre-update, then it sounds like you were the one of those players this change was targeted toward.

  • I'm getting alot of Doctors which is wild since o rarely see them in regular games lol amazingly enough I haven't had a Legion or Dredge yet but have had a couple Myers. I've almost finished the Tome anyway so will be going back to regular mode. This Lights Out is definitely more tolerable than the last but still not my favourite mode.

  • They're rats whether they have Distortion or not. The perk hardly made a difference when a killer didn't bring an aura perk. At least the killers who run full aura builds are happy - no need to learn to track survivors when the perks do the job for you.

  • It includes people giving up, but excludes any games with a DC (despite there being a bot thrown in). So probably evens out.

  • @Langweilig said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3798053#Comment_3798053

Yeah exactly and then those are the next gutted perks, I rather have a strong and reliable counter and strong aura read. Edit: There are so many ways to reliable nerf it, but they chose the worst one. The best one would have been reducing it‘s duration to 7-8s

"I rather have a strong and reliable counter and strong aura read"

100% agreed. Distortion makes aura read perks tolerable because I know the option is always there if I've had enough after multiple games of full aura builds. It breaks up the monotony. Kill Distortion and watch aura read complaints explode. People's tolerance will be shot.

  • ?? can you elaborate. I'm a survivor main.

  • @Langweilig said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3798032#Comment_3798032

The thing is I don‘t even use it, because I see it as a wasted perk slot, but as a killer main I know distortion is the only thing, that stops me from using many aura perks. Nerfing distortion will lead to more aura perks being played and aura perks are often really unfair/frustrating/annoying, especially when you don‘t know the killer has one.

I predict that aura perks will become a problem soon and the number one complain behavior will see.

Yeah for sure. And if aura read perks are associated with higher kill rates after Distortion is nerfed then I imagine they'll be on the chopping block next. I've said a few times people need to be careful what they wish for.

  • That's why we have PTB to test these things

  • @GonnaBlameTheMovies said:

They need to address it even before the PTB. They can't let some of these changes go live.

Why address it before the PTB? The point of the PTB is to try things out, it has no impact on the live game

  • I don't mind if they want to change it. I very rarely use it as is unless it's handy for a challenge. But resetting during a chase makes it redundant. So, in order for someone to avoid being found by a killer's aura read they have to go and find the killer instead? Lol

  • @Peanits said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3797046#Comment_3797046

To clarify, Distortion recharges by being chased. It's not active only while you're being chased.

For example, Distortion can block your aura from being revealed by BBQ, then it deactivates. The next time you're chased, it will reactivate and stay active until it blocks your aura from being revealed again.

Survivor perks should benefit survivors, yet Distortion now just benefits killers. Killers can use their multiple aura reading perks to consistently find everyone else, and just let the person/s trying to actually counter their perks come directly to them. It makes trying to counter their aura perks in the first place pointless. You have to throw yourself at them anyway. Distortion now pretty much only counters LP.

Also any chance you could expand on Poised? Is it every time you touch a gen for the first time?

1 … 48 49 50 51 52 … 149
