  • Just find one you enjoy. If you can't find one then just don't worry about it (much as it sucks with all the dailies). I only like playing Demo or Wraith, and even then I have to be in the mood. My youngest likes watching me play killer more than survivor so usually she pesters me until I give in lol

  • I see him about 1 in every 10 games. Not too bad I think.

  • Yes! I 100% agree. I always just plant myself on a gen until the killer comes, because usually the 4th person is hiding and if the game is clearly over then let's just end it. So it sucks when they down you and leave you on the ground. I mean, I could have just hid with the other guy and played hide n seek, so just hook me and let me move on please? Games like that I definitely think the first two sacrifices got the better end of the deal.

  • I don't see this at all. Is it a regional thing maybe

Isn’t it the one where like half of the map is a dead zone now? Or was it the other one—cowshed?

Nah it's Rancid Abbatoir with the dead zone. Whole map has like 8 pallets.

  • Looking forward to her as well

  • The only time you're guaranteed an escape is once you've crossed that exit line where the killer can't follow. Anything else, too bad?

But you can pretty much punish people for all forms of trolling, thats the point. DC, Self-unhook, Sandbagging, afking and whatever else. You can make systems to stop this for semi-consistent abusers of those things. You can, just like with any game not play but you will be punished.

We already have penalties in place and they still don't stop people from DCing. Sandbaggers already can get reported for griefing but that doesnt stop them. BHVR aren't going to police people randomly going afk because there are legitimate reasons why someone may need to. From a business perspective, those people are all still customers and they want them to keep playing. Self-unhooking even, it's a mechanic that can come in clutch and missing skill checks isn't a crime, it still happens to me sometimes. They aren't going to punish that.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Is it okay? No. But is it true? Yes.

If someone has decided, "Nope, I'm not playing this", you cannot force them to. They will go around sandbagging, DC, unalive on hook, or just alt tab AFK and do something else. People will always act like petulant children and throw their toys out the pram the moment they feel a whif of some minor inconvenience, so the best thing to do is to take this into account when designing game systems to screw over everyone else as little as possible.

    This.

OP, you ask 'when is it okay to DC?' Uhhh it's not... that's why there is a DC penalty.

But fact remains, you can't force someone to play lol unless you go into their house and physically force them to unhook their team mates or keep repairing those gens. If people don't want to play, they won't.

  • It's a great perk until that Nea decides to use it to burn through half the pallets in their first chase, creating dead zones early in the game that help snowball things in the killer favour later. It can be a perk that helps killers at times. Knowing where pallets are means nothing without good game sense.

But the thumb up is already there, there is also a "did you have fun" vote at the top after the games.

The point is to make the thumbs up mean something, as currently it means nothing. Eg. Let players know they've been given a thumbs up, and not just killers but team mates too. Maybe implement reputation points. Who knows.

The Did You Have Fun? option is just feedback for BHVR.

  • Lots of SMs seem to be doing this lately. It's not strategic slugging, I'm sure they're just being played by children. I watched Altruistic (who I believe is a regular here) go through it yesterday on their stream. SM had them all slugged and basically just humped them on the ground or spun around doing nothing while they bled out. Too many SM players have waaaay too much time on their hands.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

How will we be able to secure this is not getting abused by toxic people who get mad because they lost ? or lets say the killer didnt play as i wanted, but still not breaking any rules??

Wont this just work as an extention of the survivors rulebook for killers?

Just don't have a thumbs down option. Can only give a thumbs up or nothing, the latter of which is what we have now so nothing will change there. A salty person will just do what they've always done and move on.

  • Yes! I had a post in the Feedback sub awhile ago for the same thing. Let the thumbs up option give reputation points or something, and let them allow you to gain extra bp or some sort of bonus so people actually want them. 100% it'll help reduce bad sportsmanship. And gives us console players a quick way to let others know we enjoyed playing with them.

  • 9am to 9pm generally 100% survivor. 9pm to 9am generally 100% killer. I'm in western Australia. It can also depend on your MMR, not just region. I had one day where my mid-MMR account was showing 100% survivor at the same time as my new, low MMR account was showing 100% killer.

  • You're probably just burned out. Several hours a day is a long time to spend gaming. But that's probably just the mother in me talking lol on a good day I'll play for up to 2 hours during the day. Maybe another game or two once everyone's asleep at night if I can be bothered. During events I play more and by the end of the event I'm usually a bit burned out.

  • He requires good team work to counter. If you have bad team mates, it's probably a loss for the team. I've had games where I'm the only one touching the box, and even when I'm in chase and there's a chain hunt, my team mates would rather attempt to slooowly do gens through a chain hunt than go near the box. So I don't mind Pinhead in general, I think he's pretty straight forward to counter, but I hate solo queue games against him for the above reason.

Nope cuz even with iri1 from playing my ass off they still give me potatoes that wanna play hot potato with the killer or body block people because they don't want to go down, or my fav one I could have picked you up off the floor but decided to wait 15 secs to attempt a failed flashlight save lmmfao.

This made me laugh. Had a game the other day where a killer decided to tunnel me out from the start of the game. I ran him for 4.5 gens total, but only 2 of my team mates did gens. The other team mate followed us around the map with a flashlight. I went down at a pallet and she was perfectly positioned to drop it when he picked me up, but instead attempted a flashlight save... and failed 🤣 she would have 100% had the pallet save but no

anything that is strong like wesker, blight, nurse or skull merchant is unfun/boring/bad game design right

    absolutely not biased survivors (:

running 5 times around every stone and breaking 20 pallets again and again every game is so fan right (no)

Except a "chill 3 gen game" with SM can be dragged for up to an hour. And that's the problem. I can get the same amount of bloodpoints in a 10 min match against any other killer that I could get in a 1 hour match with SM. Why would I waste an hour of my time?

  • Every game I've played against her, she gets at least one Condemned kill. Sometimes two. I havent been one of those (yet) but it can be hard juggling gens and tapes. Tapes/TVs can easily become the main objective in a Sadako game.

  • There was one streamer I was watching, can't remember which one now, who got so annoyed by it that they'd u-turn the moment the hooked person tried to kobe and just go back to their gen lol they wouldn't unhook. I'm not too bothered by it personally, but your post reminded me of it.

  • Had a Trapper bring an offering a couple days ago. He put a trap next to one of the street pallets and I had no option to disarm it. No matter which way I approached it, it just gave the drop pallet option. I doubt he brings it because one spot apparently makes his trap unable to be disarmed but who knows?

  • I buy the pass if I like the cosmetics. I just play like normal and do the challenges, I've always gotten to the end before it closes.

Can you blame them how can you ignore free and easy bp

that can get you two levels in the blood web

That's fine if that's what you prefer. But I'd like my team mates to be able to participate in the game too.

  • @MrPenguin said:

The only thing I disagree with is genrushing in this definition.

There's more objectives than just unhooking survivors, you have totems, you have chest, you have healing, you can help your teammates in chase ect. Yes they are optional but they are still there.

If a player(s) is just focused on getting the gens done as efficiently as possible throughout the entire match, with or without builds, they are genrushing. Splitting on gens as soon as the match starts, running straight from gen gen to gen, not helping teammates in chase, ect.

It's not inherently bad, just as tunneling isn't, both sides are just trying their best to win. Which if that's what they want to do then in all fairness that is the point of the game, to win. If its the most efficient way then it is what it is.

Most games do involve people healing others and taking hits during chase. That's just normal gameplay. Chests and totems though aren't necessary objectives. Chests are useful towards the end of the game, when the items you have brought into the game are depleted and you could really use a medkit or something to help you potentially survive til the end. Totems are useful if you have a boon or the killer has a hex or running Plaything and/or Pentimento - that gives incentive to cleansing totems. Otherwise they're good for bloodpoints and potentially warding off NOED. Survivors avoiding chests and totems does not mean they are genrushing. They're just not necessary for their survival in the same way gens are. In the vast majority of my solo games, the killer has the upper hand. Doing chests and totems can be throwing the game.

  • It's the only way to get the extra bloodpoints. It's unfortunate because I'm noticing more people being left on hook as well, as team mates prioritise those extra event points.

  • Haven't people been asking for additional objectives for survivors? You can't give them objectives that have zero benefit to their survival. Otherwise you're just asking them to waste time for nothing. Time spent doing other stuff is less time spent on gens.

  • He didn't really say anything that most people - even those who use MFT - haven't been saying for awhile. It not stacking with Hope, obviously, and also the unnecessary endurance. The only new thing was killers being notified when it's in play, but I don't have an issue with that either.

  • BHVR added that info to bring solo a bit closer to swf level. All that info (and more) is readily available to swf teams via comms. As someone who plays solo, it really just shows me that my potato team mates aren't doing anything.

  • Might have just been an accident, they might have meant to click the other purple add on (Abdominal Dressing)

WoO is actually too strong in it's current for though. It plays part of the game for you. Pathing is crucial as a survivor and WoO literally does your pathing for you now.

It needs to go back to having a cool down honestly. Removing the cool down made it too good. It was good before the buff. People just slept on it. After the buff people got WoO pilled.

What you're also missing with WoO is that it can be detrimental to the team in the wrong hands and favour the killer. Especially on maps with limited pallets. If you get a team mate who in first chase just burns through every pallet that lights up on their screen, then that's a problem. That creates dead zones and makes it easier for the killer to snowball. Knowing where every pallet is means nothing without good game sense.

  • I used to feel the same way. Would rush in and stop people from letting go, would be extremely anti-DC and wish for harsher penalties. That's all gone away and it doesn't phase me anymore. I'm not entitled to someone else's time. If they don't want to spend their (probably limited) time in that game with us, that's their choice. At the end of the day it's just a game, and I've forgotten all about it by the next day as life moves on.

And tbh - when you click Ready on a game, there's usually nothing to indicate that any of the people you are about to play with are unpleasant people. Sometimes they are, and you realise it once you're in there. Not everyone likes to play with unpleasant people. I've had team mates troll and sandbag me. I don't want to play with them.

  • IMO genrushing may be an applicable term for people who deck themselves out (toolboxes, perks, etc) with the sole intention of smashing out gens as fast as they can. However, a lot of people on this forum love referring to the Nightlight site, and that says Stakeout/Hyperfocus (which are usually the perks attributed to genrushing) only have a 1.7% and 1.4% pickrate respectively. And one person running those perks isn't going to make or break the game. You'd need more people in on it, so more likely swfs. So true genrushing isn't a common thing imo.

The killer focusing on one survivor for too long, leaving the other survivors nothing else to do but gens, isn't genrushing imo.

  • I don't think it needs a nerf. It's a one time use perk that requires you to get to endgame for value. I've never actually used it, because honestly I don't get to endgame enough so it'd be a wasted perk slot. It's always been a popular perk imo, but the former Dead Hard users all branched off in different directions and I think that's why it's seemingly had a bump in usage.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Most SM who drag out games and 3 gen from start aren't good at playing her mechanically.

Yeah I've noticed this too. If you manage to break the 3 gen they're usually terrible at chase and they'll hit everything but the survivor when they swing

Ada sheva and ace are probaly the quietest injured survivors. Adas heels are noisy tho but she is very quiet besides that. Female characters are slightly smaller so could be another advantage.

Thalita is quiet when injured but has loud footsteps too. I'm keen to try the upcoming Light Footed perk on her.

  • Tunnelling and slugging isnt a 4k guarantee, so i dunno if this encourages that. If anything there might be an increase in lobby shopping to find a team of baby survivors to steam roll.

  • This is one of those maps (along with Azarov and Suffocation Pit) that I run to the opposite side of the map of which I spawn and start a gen there. You have to take the initiative in case your team mates don't.

  • Sheva, Zarina, Kate, and Ace are quiet. I'm sure there's more but those are the ones I remember off the top of my head.

Rebecca Chambers is pretty loud. Oh and Laurie too.

endurance procs when you should go down, and its an extra health state

if you were to go from healthy to downed, itll instead take you to deep wound (im not 100% sure if it actually procs here, but i remember at some point it did and idk if thats been changed). if you were to go from injured to downed, it instead takes you to deep wound

if you get hit with endurance while in deep wound already, it does nothing and you go down

your first game you went from healthy to injured, endurance never proccd

second game your explanation doesnt tell me alot. your endurance mightve timed out, or maybe you got grabbed (which ignores endurance. you did say that you were m1d both times but maybe you considered a grab an m1? id have to see what happened second game for endurance to not have worked)

Thanks! First game makes sense. So since I was healthy, my endurance didn't work. I'll remember that.

Second game was definitely a basic hit, I was looking right at him as he swung at me and it hadn't timed out as it was my plan to intentionally take a hit with it. I was just stumped when I went down.

  • Best counter to Pinhead is good teamwork. If you get matched with bad team mates it's usually ggs. I've had team mates trying to do gens through a chain hunt instead of grabbing the box while I'm in chase.

  • The wiki is a good guide on how you earn points for each emblem. Looking at your results, you needed some more hooks.

The Emblem System, also just referred to as "Emblems", is a Ranking Game Mechanic used to determine a Player's Grade. It was originally introduced with Patch 1.9.4. Before Grades were implemented with Patch 5.2.0, Emblems played an integral role in Dead by Daylight's matchmaking system for ranked Trials, as it determined a Player's Rank and thereby how they would be matched.Since reworking Ranks into Grades, the Emblem System no longer determine one's matchmaking scoring and merely track successf

  • Yeah I agree. There's a few topics I don't bother to click on anymore and 'game is killer/survivor sided' is one of them.

I just saw a Twitch streamer like that the other day. Every game the had and the killer did something they didn’t like they would report them . They would write the most stupid reasons too such as “killer killed me before I could complete a generator”. They would laugh about it too claiming how that player will be banned now.

Wonder if it's the same guy who got called out awhile ago by other streamers for his ridiculous reporting. For example, a killer had Huntress Lullaby at 5 tokens, and the team mate healing him kept missing the skill check. He reported her after the game for "purposely missing skill checks".

  • I got tunnelled out last night. Shall I waste Supports time too by filing a report against the killer for killing me? Some people just can't cope with a loss so no point arguing. Just shake your head and move on.

  • It causes me zero stress and anguish. I don't break a single sweat playing this game. It's a relaxing way to pass some time.

  • Worst for me is Chris Redfield. I don't think I've ever had a good Chris on my team, they always hide.

Best I think is Laurie. They always seem to come through.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

Well if SWF groups would be more balanced and give more reasons to play againts them for Killers... Killers would less likely to dodge. Also locking players in lobby is not good idea = sometimes you have to leave, you want to swap Killer, you see the same players from previous match, you see it's obvious 4man squad and you don't want to deal with them, etc. People would then just force quit the game and either go play something else because they are tired of keep loading the game or just go play something else.

Give Killers a reason to stay and play with lobby 400 SWF group. Or 3 man friends, etc. You pick Trapper, see it's obviously at least 3 players together and voice chat and you want to load into unfair, most likely unfun match? Nah.

But you don't know if the match is unfair unless you play it. And as it currently stands, if other killers are dodging those survivors then folks like yourself are used as backfill. It's a cycle. If other killers didn't dodge these high hour swfs (or perceived swfs) they were matched with initially because theyre at a similar skill level, then you'd likely never see them. So preventing everyone from dodging is likely to stabilise matchmaking in general. And there are plenty of players that dodge but don't actually want a 'fair' game, they just purposely seek out baby survivors to steam roll. That's not fair on those survivors either, and again just muddies the matchmaking system.

  • How did the killer perform? I ask because I changed platforms at the start of the year and recently got matched with one of my favourite streamers who has a few thousand (at least) hours, and I held my own. My hours are low on my new platform but I have 1200+ on my other platform. That killer could be in the same situation. Not saying they *should* have been put against Knightlight, but if there were no killers available at his level then the game grabs from a bigger pool. Or as Mandy said above, he could have been the unfortunate backfill.
