Whilst everything for killers has been made faster and the gen-regression perks turned up several notches, most things for survivors have been made slower/rendered useless. But let's all blame survivors for missing their DH, shall we? Because that's the only thing killer mains think even when provided with evidence of the contrary.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3096316#Comment_3096316
Did you not see them going down after unhooking 1 person and then the other person getting downed? But yeah you're right they should've worked on a gen whilst they were hanging from a hook! 💡
Why were they not stacked before then? why were they not stacked after?
I cant see what was going on with the other survivors directly, and neither could you, but they still weren't doing great.

DBD forums pretending they know what everyone meant with words that were never included to push their agenda yet again I see.

If you truly believe enough survivors are taking hours out of their day to purposely log into a game and throw match after match, and you believe they are doing it an organized quantity that would actually inflate Kill rates- idk what to tell you. I just can't see it personally. This whole idea was invemted here on the forum and is spreading like paranoia with no evidence to back it up (at least none that I know of).
Is there evidence that survivors en masse have organized to inflate Kill rates over random Solo players being genuinely frustrated and just giving up? Maybe I missed it.
I believe a lot of survivors are just entitled and will DC just because they don't like something. Be it they went down first, got a killer they don't like, got a map they don't like, their teammates messed up one time, or in this case, that they got nerfed.
This was true before, its not new.
There's been enough people saying they want to "send the devs a msg" that its concerning, but I believe a much much larger percent of the survivor base are just not used to having the killers actually being a bit of a threat and lost a lot of their tools to get away with being dumb/bad and are upset about it.

Or, maybe the MMR system sucks. OR maybe they are genuinely frustrated for a good reason and there actually isn't any grand Hive mind conspiracy to inflate anything.
MMR does suck, but that was true before, and there are some valid concerns. That doesn't mean what I said is also not true. I didn't bring up a hive mind nor said it was all survivors.

You're right. Survivors are all just whiny and annoying and it's impossible that there might be any valid reason for them to be upset with the state of the game.
It MUST just be that their precious Dead Hard got nerfed so now they're all throwing a temper tantrum!!!! /s
I didn't bring up dead hard nor did I say there weren't valid concerns nor did I say it was all survivors.
Don't put words in my mouth ty.
-
A lot of survivors are upset they got nerfed and throwing games. Some are just upset and ragequit, some are actively trying to inflate the kill rates so that the devs see a reason to revert the changes.
There's a big survivor tantrum going on right now.

She still escaped and the game was a draw at 2K 2E. The Killer was stacking Gift of Pain and Thana while the person working on the gen had healed, activating Gift of Pain, while everyone else was injured, activating Thana. It's literally a worst case scenario for that combo.
If she had stayed injured and then healed after the gen was done it would have gone considerably faster. Considering she only got injured on the way out the exit gate the outcome would have been the same or better if she had healed after the gen.
I don't think this video is as damning as you or the OP think it is.
Also there was 1 gen left, why were they not stacking on it?
worse worse case scenario, and it was majority the survivors fault. Better nerf killers.

I still think that if a killer is X meters away from a hook, the hook progress is paused. If a killer is chasing someone near the hook then the hook progress goes back to normal. This will stop survivors from looping a killer near a hooked survivor in order to pause the timer longer. The further the killer is away from the hook the faster it becomes until it goes to normal speed. How far away? I dunno, it would have to be tested. Also make base BT a bit longer.
This would force the killer to move away from the survivor and focus on someone else quicker. Thus giving time for another survivor to go do a rescue save. Also, have it so every survivor can see the auras of other survivors when someone is hooked. Like base kit kindred but without the ability to see the killer's aura. This will help solo queue.
The latest update I think was needed because as killer it was brutal chasing one person for not very long and have three gens go off all at once. The thing is now it makes it easier for killers to camp and tunnel without having to worry about gen pressure. So that needs to be addressed as well and I think this would help. But what do I know? I don't make video games for a living.
Chase range is only 12 meters and needs the survivor to be running.
Its very easy to contest a save without starting a chase. Survivors will abuse that for free gen time on the other 1-2 survivors on gens. Additionally the person being camped will be camped for even longer.
Hope you like being camped for the entire game while your teammates abuse you for free gen time. At least now you eventually die.

It is quite different,
You know you can rely on your team mates to at least be of a similar skill as you.
They do gens, they dont let you to die on hook, you can coordinate perks etc.
I will ignore your "solo q experience" when it was already stated in this thread that OP lied since they were only playing duo and not solo.
ah yes, the killer buffs made the survivors dumber. They were clearly too much.
By your own admission, some survivors just need to stop being idiots. That has nothing to do with the killer changes. You can't fix stupid. They just can't get away with being bad and still wining as much as before.
-
which part is "this" the streamer or the person he was against?

GF is one of the worst killers in the game.
Popular =/= strong.
Nurse is the strongest killer in the game, she's far from the most popular until you get to very high skill levels.

Killer mains now posting that survivors are fine, when some things are clearly broken. Killers shouldnt 4k nearly every match. I mean the argument "survivor sided" came, with SWF's, which are just a tiny part of the survivor population.
But i guess it will be complained about long killer queue.
The game should be fun for both sides. And solo q was before not good, now its really not enjoyable.
Before Unfun: Solo, Killer
Before Fun: SWF
After Unfun: Solo
After Fun: SWF, killer.
At least its an improvement. Solo is just a part of survivor. Now we need to work on solo getting those icons the devs talked about earlier than a year later.

Where? I'm a survivor and have never seen this promotion
A few comments, amongst others promoting/defending surv DCs:
"Trying to make the best of it doesn't teach behavior anything It sad that we have to act like teachers to them."
"Giving up is the best option right now to not get frustrated any further in detrimental matches."
"And don't you try to think why they dc? Perhaps because UFC’s someone is down at the start you have 0-% chances of win? "
There's definitely people going around promoting/defending DCs on the survivor side just because they're upset about the changes and want to force the devs hand by "teaching them a lesson" about the patch or just because they went down early.
This is not new, people have defended survivor dcs for a long time, but its just a lot more frequent/prevalent now. I've been seeing it quite a bit.
There's people arguing against it of course, but its still concerning.
Just 2 threads, but those quotes were from these if you want the source. I know I've seen more but these are the only 2 I can recall at the time:

They're upset they got (rightfully) nerfed. They're trying to get things back in their favor by inflating kill rates to make the devs change the game balance again.
-
Happy you're having fun and not ruining the match for other players.
Really sad a lot of people are defending DCs and throwing just because they are upset about the nerfs. Survivor is still very playable.
-
The main problem with Deathbound is the "they have to heal someone else" part and the range requirement. There so many ways to heal yourself that are common, and then even if they do it has to be outside a certain range. At least lose the range requirement to activate.
-
- Does not give I-frames and no collision, you can't SB through a killer back to the pallet or through a hit after they outplay you.
- Does not give you I-frames to go through hatchets, blight rushes, ect.
- Requires you to play around it. If you want to 99 your SB, you can't work on a gen that whole time its on 99, you have to keep it there. If you don't want to risk using it early, you need to walk. DH was always up when you needed it with no effort.
- Killer can leave a survivor who SB from a gen, then come back before the timer is up and know they don't have it. DH was always used/up when you were already committed and in a chase.
That's just off the top of my head.
-
People are just overreacting to the buff. Like they're overreacting to the survivor nerfs.
-
"The biggest issue I feel is people just giving up. So many games I've played against full slowdown could've been an easy 3-4 escape but people just DC or suicide on first hook."
^ this 100%.
The Tantrum DC meta is too strong.

you're lying if you're claiming Survivors are running the same perks. I've seen all kind of variety in survivor loadouts and very little in the killers because the perks just got replaced with other perks that do the same thing
Ah yes, I'm sure just because you've seen it that it must be the same thing that everyone else sees. Anyone with a different experience must be lying. Maybe you're lying? Your experience is different than mine so you must be. No, that's not how experiences work.
That aside, like I said, "I am seeing a lot more variety than before, which is good."
Both sides are running a larger selection of perks in general. Sure some players are using the same type of perks as before. Slowdown/tracking on killer side, heal/exhaustion/second chance perks on survivor. However, the meta got nerfed enough where different perks can come into play a lot more. At least currently.
I'm still seeing CoH, BT, and Unbreakable on some survivors like before the patch. I'm still seeing Pain Res on some Killers like before the patch. But it's a lot less of the same build ever game.
The argument I was responding to was saying "still 4 Slowdown-Perks. Just different ones. So not really an improvement".
Despite the fact it was an overall nerf across regression perks. That's like saying Second Chances are just as bad as before because people are running OTR now, ignoring the DS nerf just because they're both second chance perks. Like saying the DH nerf didn't matter because people are running other exhaustion perks.
That's silly.

I wasn't trying to identify the problem, because as you've stated people have and will disconnect just because they are emotional. It is a red flag, because the action itself is indicative of a larger problem. Whether that is a problem with the player, the game, or the way people play games, is not for me to decide.
It is BHVR's responsibility as a game developer to create a game that people want to engage with. People are not obligated to play games they are not enjoying, especially not with strangers; there is no social contract in online gaming.
When there is causality between player behavior post-patch and a spike in disconnects, you can't toss blame on the people who are disconnecting. You can comment on their character, and plead with them to change their behavior. But their actions are a direct consequence of negative change. To say they are at fault is to take blame away from those who've facilitated an unejoyable experience before them.
I understand what you're saying, but that also is under the assumption they had a good reason to be upset to begin with. If survivors are DCing more now just because killer's finally got a buff that they really needed, then that's ridiculous.
If the negative change is just them being so used to being overwhelmingly strong and now that they can't roll over most killers they're upset, I wouldn't say we should change things to suit their enjoyment. That comes at the cost of the killer player base, which as we saw before, is also a big problem.
At the very least the changes need to be given a fair shot and not have people overreacting and giving up en mass the first 3 days of the update.

My answer to this question varies, dependent on the gen I'm working on, but it pretty much boils down to being a sunk-cost fallacy situation.
In short, I cannot know that the killer will repeatedly return to my gen, until they have already done so. Therefore, I can only analyze my actions in retrospect, and claim that I should have done something different with hindsight 20/20.
As I'm sure you'd agree, it would be foolish to abandon a gen that is 90%, just because the killer kicked it once, yes? And even if the killer kicks it 2, 3, or even 4 more times, we have created map pressure by forcing him to come to our generator instead of the other survivors'.
Historically, even though I spend all trial working on one gen that never gets complete, I typically escape trials in which the killer repeatedly kicks my gen, because my generator is the only one getting regressed. All other survivors are able to complete their gens because the killer feels obligated to stop mine from being completed. Which, at the end of the day, is a win.
Yeah that's fair.
Well, like you said at the end of the day its a win.
But yeah idk what's going on with survivors this update.
I hope things get better soon.

Survivors giving up because they or someone else got downed first too fast, or because it is a killer they don't like, are huge red flags.
I've been lucky not to encounter these types of players on my team, although I have encountered them twice now as killer.
However, more than half (I would dare to say 75%) of my survivor games are killers shamelessly camping and tunneling the first survivor out, and often the second survivor as well. So SOMETHING needs to be done, and fast.
I was really looking forward to this update--I was a huge fan of all the changes, but the killers I am encountering are ruining it.
"because they or someone else got downed first too fast, or because it is a killer they don't like, are huge red flags."
The simple act of being downed or their opponent just picking a character they just don't like are not valid reasons to DC. Those aren't "red flags" Some survivors are just babies who overreact. It's a PvP game, you're opponent gets to play too.
This all happened before the patch as well, its not new.
"However, more than half (I would dare to say 75%) of my survivor games are killers camping and tunneling"
Survivors also said that before, that's not new.
Camping and tunneling aren't fun, but the fault lies in the person who DC's and the devs for not addressing it. Not the killer for just playing the game. Camping and tunneling are part of the game and valid killer strategies to try and win. Yes I wish they weren't, but they are.
-
@KayTwoAyy said:

Actually, after this update, the circumstance I described is even more prevalent. I've been experiencing this even more now.
With the Overcharge and Call of Brine buffs, killers are frequently returning to gens they know have been progressed and are kicking them instead of looking for chase. These two perks combined are resetting gens just as much, if not more, than PGtW would.
I even played a game with Overcharge, Call of Brine, and Dragon's Grip. Before anyone knew that I had Dragon's Grip, I kicked a gen that was around 90% progress that I knew had 3 survivors working on it. None of those survivors touched the gen for at least 30s (no one became exposed by Dragon's Grip), and less than 2 minutes later I had that gen at 0% progress.
The survivors' decision to play stealthy, and wait until they knew I was gone to touch that gen, cost them the game.
So if the killer keeps coming back to that gen until it regresses, why not work on a different gen?
As someone else pointed out already, you have more than enough time.
-
Before patch: "every single match iv been camped and tunneled. and nodded and hit on the hook by killers, not sure why killers are playing this dirty"
After patch: "So ever since the update- every single match iv been camped and tunneled. and nodded and hit on the hook by killers, not sure why killers are playing this dirty"
The patch didn't do anything special in this regard, it's the same as before except now you have base mini BT with a speed boost.
If anything killer's who don't camp and tunnel have a better chance now than before.
In my opinion, no the changes aren't that bad. But the survivors throwing a tantrum right now, DCing and giving up 30 seconds into a match are.
-
We had this before, survivors will abuse this.
They will contest the hook, but not actually go for the save. The killer now either stays and gives any survivor on a gen 30 extra free seconds just for defending against it, or is forced to leave and risk a free unhook.
You shouldn't punish killer's for defending against the save. If you can solve that issue then maybe.
This also means the person on hook just gets camped for an additional 30 seconds each hook state, not great for them either.
@Silasy said:
I would make this perk basekit for survivors and change it like this: while hooked if killer is 16 metres near of you and not chasing anyone, hook timer pauses. That would solve camping really well.
"not in chase" is not a good solution. You can be pretty close without getting in chase, the chase range is only 12 meters. There can easily be a "oh I'm going for the save, jk, oh I'm going in" back and forth like we already have in game now where a chase never starts.
-
Yeah I agree.
Survivors are imploding in this patch and have been since day 1.
its still early on and its hard to tell how big the changes actually are with survivors throwing, DCing, and giving up 30 seconds into a match. Presumably because they're upset about getting nerfed.

Its not a nerf it's a meaningless buff. But I'm sure you're bias approach wont acknowledge that
I agree. Well, to the point not the insult.
While it's technically a buff it barely does anything and is easily avoided.
The duration or speed can and should definitely be bumped up if they actually want it to help against camping.
I think a larger speed boost would be the better of the two to help the survivor actually get away and to minimize body blocking shenanigans.

The Meta for Killers is still 4 Slowdown-Perks. Just different ones.
So not really an improvement.
I'm sorry what did you want? Them to just delete every slowdown perk from the game?
I don't agree with effectively removing pop and ruin as well as weakening other slowdowns being "not really an improvement".
Like survivors are still running exhaustion, second chance, and healing perks. OTR is the new second chance perk of choice, BT actually got buffed, CoH is still here, Unbreakable is still here. Just because it's the same category of perks it's "not really a nerf"?
Both sides are running the same types of perks. But other perks got more viable and the meta got weaker. Its not like people are running Premonition and Deja Vu with a map now.
But I am seeing a lot more variety than before, which is good.

But the thing is, it does affect solo queue so much, that i am on the verge of leaving, because i cant get a decent match anyway.
Even if there is no dc, a lot of the time the killer is camping anyway, which doesnt make for a good game either.
No matter how much i love this game, there is no way to keep playing just in hope for a decent match.
Sorry but, idk why you're telling me "but" like I said it wasn't a problem or something. DC's are a problem for solo and to a lesser degree the killer, both get robbed of a normal game. The only ones who can avoid it are SWF by having people who don't DC on their team.
Survivors are their own worst enemy right now though, no one can even play the game normally because they are throwing left and right.
Camping isn't fun either, but its very difficult to come up with a solution that doesn't bork the game in other areas without a radical change to the hook/kill system itself. Which I'm not against at all, but realistically is not happening.

can we really say that when most survivors aren't even trying to play and are giving up 30 seconds into their first chase and throwing? Not even doing gens?

One persons toxicity does not excuse another's.
DC's are bad for the game. Since they cant be removed, the best we can do is incentivize against them.
There's other solutions to the slug issue then "they need to DC". Change the game so if all 4 survivors are slugged, they all just die or at least get the option to.

I’m not defending anything. I don’t mind what people do. I’m telling you they perhaps do it because of something, who knows
That reason can also easily be "they're upset because they got found first" or "they're upset over who the killer picked" or "they're upset because DH got nerfed and they could have E'd to safety before".
A game is not lost just because of 1 early down. It's more likely but nowhere near guaranteed. 1 or 2 good chases and the survivor side can recover.

No? Thats not how this works unless you make it into a self fullfilling prophecy by dcing when you go down. I had multiple games where i hooked 7-8 survivors before the first gen popped and then struggled to close out the game because survivors got it together and made a come back. Its not over till survivors start actively throwing.
Agreed I've won plenty of survivor games with an early down.

We're defending DC's just because people feel like they might lose now?
-
"first down, survivor dc'd"
I feel like that's the main problem right now. Survivors are throwing tantrums and giving up left and right before the match even really starts, even more than usual.
We can't even gauge how strong the changes actually are accurately because survivors are just throwing.
-
I usually do the gens and get out as well.
However I can say, as a killer I do play "nice" when events are happening, I just want to 1 or 2 hook everyone for BP. I have literally had survivors leave someone else on the hook for the entire 2 hook states til dead even though I'm nowhere near the hook the entire time.
I can't unhook them myself.
-
Yeah survivors are kinda throwing a tantrum right now.
The game has been overwhelmingly in their favor for a very long time, there will be an adjustment period.

Solo queue got hit much harder because swf was already stronger than killer, while solo was already weaker. So while swf are brought closer in line with killer, those same nerfs/buffs bring solo further from killer with only 5 second BT in return. And swf get that too.
Not to mention buffing things like eruption to 25 seconds. Swf can call out when they're about to go down. Solo can't. And the buff makes it even worse for solo.
"But the devs didn't intentionally nerf solo"
Doesn't matter. Unintentional is still a problem. They might not have set out to do it, but the end result is the same as if they had. Even moreso that they still aren't going to do anything about it for a year.
Please read the the above comment or the edit on the OP if you did not. Although since you brought up Eruption I'm going to assume you did not. If you did my apologies for assuming incorrectly.
I'm sorry bit solo didn't get hit significantly harder, they were just already weaker. The weak got weaker but so did everyone else by effectively the same amount.
"But the devs didn't intentionally nerf solo"
That was never in question. Solo que got nerfed because survivor did. Solo is part of survivor.
I appreciate the effort, but this topic has burnt me out having to deal with certain members trying to brute force their opinion with no concrete evidence/examples and dodging questions/critiques. I would normally like to try and have a discussion, but unfortunately that is not the case currently.
I would prefer to leave it where it is at this time.
-
Before patch :"camping and tunneling every game, its out of control!"
After patch: "camping and tunneling every game, its out of control!"
I don't think the patch did anything special. That said, I wish these issues would be addressed in a sufficient manner. But that's more work than I think the devs/company are willing to do.
-
Thank you everyone who actually wanted to have a discussion and were productive to the thread.
As of this moment, I am considering the question answered: just some bad actors in the survivor community personalizing the issue with potentially a bit of overreacting and scapegoating. With the exception of Overcharge and Eruption, 2 currently subpar perks, everything is equal in terms of power reduction across the survivor board.
I know things got thrown a little off track with some of the members of the survivor white knight squad that we are familiar with on the forums coming in, but I would like to thank mostly everyone for keeping things as civil as you did.
Even if I don't agree with much, if not all, of what some said, I can understand the theory behind what they are saying. So at the very least that was taken away form the experience.
I just do not believe that is actually what's happening and have not been given anything concrete saying it is, just conjecture and caparisons with no actual concrete examples in addition questions/critiques from myself and others being dodged or outright not responded to.
That said, thank you all again for your time.

The one we went against had DL, Thana, Call of Brine and Overcharge with Purple Blade and Mangled Pin.
Or a Nurse with 2 Range Add-ons.
The things that were strong against Solo's before this patch are now nearly insurmountable.
That's fair, solos really need some form of communication or something.

Not much more than it made general survivor worse. Its just the weak got weaker unfortunately.
Take that as you will, yes or no.

So in a nutshell, people have told you why, and you just disagree.
Cool, it is what it is.
I disagree with the ones who haven't given me an actual example when asked and are using theoretical comparisons but not having anything to back it up.
There's plenty of people in the thread I agreed with or came to an understanding with. There's just a few not making any sense and just trying to brute force their point across, whether its actually about the point or not.
I think those people are just examples of the first response "So essentially there was no solo que nerf, the general survivor role got nerfed and they're just personalizing it."
But it is what it is yeah.

They lost a high percentage in your analogy though. That's my point.
And 2 is still 2. That's my point. Its not more than 2 for solos.
It's a smaller number so any change going to be a bigger percent. That like saying buffing survivors in any way buffs solo way more than SWF because "its a larger percent". Obviously that doesn't translate.
That part of the analogy doesn't translate to the game.
