The game is generally very harsh in new players, the grind is insane.
-
Anyone who has played against competent Survivors could tell you the game is Survivor sided, SBMM is just shining a light on this issue which had been present for years.
-
No Killer needs any nerfs besides Nurse and maaaaybe Blight's best addons. Majority of Killers are weak, and Survivors need many nerfs to their best perks and items. Maps also favor Survivor majority of the time.
-
@Pulsar said:
I hope so.
Maybe then Survivors will see some basekit nerfs if Nurse is no longer a menace to society.
You know damn ######### well they aren't touching Survivors. I'm betting Blight will be butchered next.

I didn't say it was small enough to not have an impact but I did say he needs something to make him slightly harder to use / slightly less effective since his current playstyle is too beginner friendly and doesn't require much other than brute force
He is literally a free beginner Killer. And a GOOD one at that, every Killer should be good, even the "easy" ones. He doesn't even scrape the tier that's behind top tier, he's solid but that is it. His addons were boosted and they got the nerfs they deserved, so nerfing his base kit makes no sense to me. He is a glorified M1 Killer that is countered by everything that is meant to counter them.
-
@bjorksnas said:
The nerf is minor though, you only lose out on 0.25 seconds of being 6.9m/s all it means is that its slightly harder to use in chase and for other situations you might need to start uncloaking out of sign for the 1.5 seconds you are silent instead of running straight up to someone and uncloaking, I get that it has multiple factors to it but in all honesty wraith will be just fine with this nerf and will still be in a good spot just less so since this slightly increases the skill floor of his gameplay to make it less easy to pick up and use
"The nerf is minor though" So why bother? Why? Why even care enough to nerf him and make him worse? If it is so small that it doesn't matter, then to even bother with this nerf is just bad.
If the Killer was fine, nerfing them is objectively a bad idea and makes the game less fun.
-
It isn't one. It's an asymmetrical PVP game of cat and mouse that happens to use horror icons and elements.
-
No lol, Survivors perks/items need nerfs and many maps need total reworks. Only busted Killer is Nurse and she already got nerfed 6 feet under, and takes a ton of skill.
-
I hate these forums man. To think Devs can look at such dumb suggestions such as this and actually consider them makes me sick.
-
Devs don't seem to care so there is nothing to say. This should have been fixed days after it started occuring, now we're going on what, months?
-
Lol none if the Survivors are good.
-
@Bwsted said:
It's easier to nerf the basekit than to do an entire add-on pass.
He had like 2 busted addons that needed nerfs and that's all
-
The biggest difference is game performance, the game runs much better on PC than Xbox One(s). Xbox Series X runs great from my personal experience.
Besides that is pre game chat, which is cool but not really all that impactful imo, and finally PC can use Keyboard and Mouse, which makes playing certain Killer easier. Easier, not inherently better, controller is more difficult but with enough time and practice it should be a non issue.
-
Separate bottle totals and the speed gas activates instantly.
-
Skill Based Match Making is not the issue. Bad game balance is the issue. If the game was balanced the system with some teaks would be totally fine, instead it has shined a large light on the issues this game has.
-
Cheaters, Maps, Survivor balance.
Fix these and the game will be worth playing.
-
Fixated and Deadlock
-
Or I could just ask for the Devs to properly balance the ######### game so SBMM doesn't feel like a swift kick to the teeth
-
Clearly what will fix these issues is nerfing Wraith's base lunge.
Please buy more Auric Cells!
-
The fact that this even has to be a thread makes me think BHVR simply does not care in the slightest.
They don't care about balance, they don't care about performance on older consoles, they don't care about horrible map design, all this BS with NFT's, SBMM consistently makes playing well as Killer a miserable experience because it will proceed to pin you against boosted Survivors.
And now you can't even play the game without some script kiddie with mommies credit card ruining the damn game.
I'm ######### sick of this bullshit, and I'm sick of this company.
-
Oh don't worry, all the Survivor mains will surely pile in here and scream at you about how somehow you're the problem because you dared to try and actually ######### win at the God forsaken PVP video game.
The game is not balanced and SBMM is a cruel reminder of that if you ever dare to perform well.
-
It makes it so if you don't commit to a chase, which sometimes you simply cannot, all of your time is wasted and the Survivor will fully heal in 16 seconds... maybe even faster with addons, perks and skill checks.
Split boosted Medkits among 4 Survivors, and let them have all second chance meta perks, bring a Survivor sided map offering, there are SO many things that stack in the Survivors favor that frankly it becomes ridiculous.
This is not even including Survive With Friends, IT CAN GET EVEN WORSE. It's an unbalanced mess that BHVR lacks the balls to fix.
-

Correct but I'm interested in suggestions on how to fix it more than anything
Nerf Survivor meta perks and items, and rework every bad map in the game.
-
They have consistently proven they are unwilling to change anything that would bring down Survivors and the power they possess, and since RPD still exists I doubt we are getting any meaningful map changes for a few years.

I stayed rank 1 every time before mmr changed and still get matched now with pretty decent survivors. Still can get 3ks. Again, 4 kills every single game isn't my goal. And I can give you my gt to prove I'm a killer main. Again, survivors deserve counters to slugging, camping and tunneling. Don't like it? Don't do those things. I slugged end game on a game the other day. That survivor had unbreakable and got up and opened a door and got out. The other one went out the hatch becauae he was a head of me. I didn't cry and cry. It was what it was.
Cool story bro. Luckily for you we can't see our MMR, otherwise I'd demand to see a game from you at the absolute pinnacle.

Lmao, I'm a killer main. I just don't whine and cry about survivors perks. I know I can still get kills without playing scummy
Sure, against bad players. Top MMR eats 3 hook strategy for breakfast. If we were to place you at the absolute highest MMR with a non meta Killer, I have absolute confidence you wouldn't sacrifice more than 1 Survivor a match going for 3 hooks each.

Lol killer main. I NEVER camp and rarely tunnel (if it's end game). Play fair and still can get 3 and 4ks. It's possible not to play like scum to survivors. Keep playing like you are, it's why the devs are nerfing killers. They said in the last stream they're looking into penalizing camping and the reason they're changing moris is they are not happy with the tunneling and camping killers are still doing to get them. And are even coming up with counters to moris.
Slugging and tunneling is playing fair lol, just because you don't like it doesn't mean these strategies are cheating or whatever.
You're no Killer player, and if you are your 5 hook 4 man escapes damn sure keep you in mediocre MMR. Get to the big boy leagues and try that 3 hook strategy on a non meta Killer, Survivors will laugh you out of the match. If the top skilled streamers know this, you damn sure should know it by now too.

I'm so glad the devs won't listen to this and won't nerf those perks. It IS fair they have these perks for the popular playstyles of killers.
Hold your tongue, it happened to Decisive. You're scared aren't you? Of losing your free second chances

Damn, bro, there's no need to get this hostile over it.
What's the point of even making this post at all if you aren't going to listen to the things people have to say?
I have no interest in discussion with people who clearly claim to understand the game and it's issues when they very clearly do not. Especially when the have the nerve to say such foolish things such as "Oh Survivors don't even use these perks in the top ranks!".
It's ridiculous and a waste of my time. Ask any streamer what perks Survivors use in the top MMR, what a bad joke.
You want discussion? Be someone who acknowledges the issues this game has and don't dare to pretend everything is fine. SBMM sucks BECAUSE everything is not fine. If the game was balanced SBMM would be awesome but it's not, so I'm sick of seeing people claim that the system is the issue and not the glaring problems the game has from a balance stand point.
The game is not balanced at a high level for 90% of Killers, and this is because of broken maps and Survivor perks being 16 second chances at minimal to no cost. That or a perk that negates an entire mechanic such as Iron Will, along with Medkits, SWF, map offerings, etc.
Anyone who denies this does not play Killer, and if they do they damn sure do not play Killer at a high level. Killer has it's own issues too, but they are NOTHING compared to Survivor issues.
-
Skill Based Match Making was added and shined a big fat light on the pile of dog vomit that is this games horrid gameplay balance, and is slowly killing the game. It's based on Sacrifices and Escapes, so it fixed no balancing issues and instead made the game less fun for literally anyone who plays well.

How am I trolling? Look at most high level streamers and youtubers and they will agree those perks don't need nerfed. DS was the only one needing nerfed and looked what happened. Hell even look at perk tier lists and most of them will have sprint burst in front of DH. Those perks are seen as the best for a reason, they counter the absolute best way to play killer, but that doesn't mean tunneling, slugging, and camping is the ONLY way to play killer lmaoo. If you can give a legitimate counter argument I would love to hear it, but it seems like you have nothing.
"DS was the only one needing nerfed and looked what happened" Yeah it became a properly balanced perk that is still worth running but actually comes with a proper downside to get use out of it, shocking I know. It's okay, you aren't used to second chance perks having a cost, you'll get used to it.
Results trump bias, Sprint Burst is a preference but still is not as good as a properly used Dead Hard.
If you think Killer is some magical walk in the park where at the highest MMR you can just 3 hook everyone casually while not playing Blight, Spirit or Nurse, and maaaybe Bubba, you aren't a Killer main. What you are is a liar, and a bad one at that. I don't need to counter whatever drivel you spew because arguing against every single dumb thing you say is a blatant waste of time, and since you are clearly not here for any sensible discussion but just to regurgitate opinions that scream you don't actually play the game, I'm just going to save myself time and ignore you from here on out. You are not a Killer main and if you are, you damn sure guaranteed have not gotten to high MMR with a non meta Killer.
-
Map offerings suck because majority of maps suck for Killer. If the maps were balanced it wouldn't matter.
Look at the amount of pallets on The Game and tell me that map is okay, the fact it hasn't been changed yet is embarrassing.
-
The Thing does NOT need to be a mimic Killer, that is only half of what makes it terrifying.
What makes The Thing so scary is how it accumulates biomass and can become an ungodly obelisk of flesh and teeth.
It could start as a small disgusting head crab and throughout the match reach certain tiers to grow, and when it reaches it's final form it becomes an ungodly huge monster that plows through pallets and Survivors like no one else.
-
High MMR isn't fun because DBD is not a balanced game.
It's not even possible to reach the top MMR with certain Killers, that is how poorly balanced the game is.

Nah lmao your matches are not comp matches and I guarantee it. Even the top players don't like the perks you mentioned, but they don't think they should be nerfed. How often does UB get used? How often do you actually get hit by DS unless you are camping and tunneling the unhooked person? You don't need to get three hooks on each person, and that is why you patrol and play territorial, and pressure the gens that are feasible for your killer, but if you are literally gonna tunnel the first person you down, don't act like it is your only choice, and don't complain when you get hit by their perks designed to counter that.
I've been a killer main for 4 and some years on this game, and you do not need to play that way every single match lmao. DH isn't even the best exhaustion perk ever, if you swing and they dodge it, that is on you lmao sprint burst and even lithe are far stronger perks as they avoid that first hit from even happening, dead hard requires you to be injured as well as requires an area that benefits from dead hard.
We get it, you feel oppressed and you think the only way to win is by tunneling one person hard, but you can in fact just play good and win without needing to make the entire existence of the game unfun. Not saying you need to "bOw DoWn" to survivors, but it is always clear with these posts that you play bad, camp and tunnel to try and win, and then get mad that you didn't play around the perks easy to play around.
"Even the top players don't like the perks you mentioned" Not reading the rest of what you typed.

Ruin, Undying, Pop, Corrupt.
You're a good killer with your training wheels on.
You mean a perk that lasts 2 minutes, 2 that are easily gone within the first minute of the match, and a perk that rewards the Killer for actually playing well?
Get over it. Unless the Killer is Blight, Nurse or Billy, Ruin should not be a big deal if you just do the damn gens.

I never said any of that, but with that said, I have no problem being effective and securing "victory" while also refraining from tunneling. My point was that these tactics aren't limited to weaker killers or situations where the Trial is going bad, as is often their justification. Many killer players love to camp, tunnel, and slug, independent of whether or not you need to do so. It's appealing to them, so it doesn't matter how viable or fantastic a killer, add-on, or perk becomes.
It's appealing because the game is not balanced and it works.
-
@Lochnload_exe said:
Literally all of these perks have decent counterplay or ways around it in like 90% of situations, unless you are playing scummy, in which yeah they are gonna feel bad. Stop hitting the unhooked survivor. Stop slugging with the risk of UB. Stop rushing gens and do bones. Listen to footsteps (they are so damn loud). They are the best because they are second chance perks, but that doesn't mean they are OP. They are second chances in the events of ######### killer play. If you don't play like that, you will never see them.
"Just bow down to Survivors and never ever ever ever play in a way that they may find unpleasant ever" Do you hear yourself? There is no way to play "scummy" as Killer besides facecamping or letting a Survivor bleed out just to be a jerk.
Getting 3 hooks on 4 Survivors at top MMR is not feasible. It never will be unless the game changes in some way either. I don't want to hear whining or complaining from the side that has 16 second chance perks at no cost besides Decisive, along with comms, medkits, and majority of maps easily being in favor of Survivor.
The Killer playing "scummy" is playing in a way that makes you lose. Don't like losing? Neither does the Killer.

@Firellius said:

You've got the problem backwards. Camping, tunnelling and slugging can close a match out so effectively that the gens need to be incredibly fast and these perks are necessary. If camping wasn't a thing and tunnelling wasn't the de facto best way to go, survivors would be eligible for a good quantity of nerfs.
But as long as the killer shortcuts balance out with the survivors, nothing changes. It's not exactly fair to let the killers keep their overpowered tactics but strip the survivors of their defences against them.
And don't get me wrong, I'm in favour of some survivor nerfs, but only on the condition that camping, tunnelling and slugging are pulled out by the root. Not keen on nerfing survivors down and then just hoping that killers don't abuse it out of the kindness of their hearts.
Every suggestion you have is awful. ANY competent Survivor team will slams gens if you camp, this is a non issue. It may not be fun but it is NEVER a good play, until end game in which it's basically all the Killer can do. As for Tunneling and Slugging, I can't even imagine how you'd remove these. It'd require an entire game rework which is not ever happening, so I say just nerf the crutch second chance perks and be done with it.
-
@Nicholas said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2558018#Comment_2558018
lol even going against elite tier killers has the same results: tunneling and sometimes camping. Don't pretend tunneling is limited to weaker killers, it's widespread. It has never been a smart tactic to use for certain situations, it's the go-to for almost every situation including those where The Killer is winning.
Getting a Survivor out of the game ASAP before too many gens get done is by far the most effective method of victory for Killer. That or snowballing via slugging.
Killer strength among the 2-3 that actually have a sense of power over the Survivors doesn't change that it's an effective strategy. It's not fun for that Survivor, but who cares what the other side thinks? You gain nothing but insults.

And Ruin, NOED, Devour hope, Haunted grounds, Mori should exist?
I'm sorry, Ruin and Devour hope at high levels get cleansed in the first 30 ish seconds at least like 40% of the time. NOED is a garbage perk but it still technically has counter play, Haunted Grounds is a meme at best and Mori's got gutted long ago.
NONE of these are even remotely comparable to the top Survivor perks, not even close.

@Firellius said:

A 4K slug intentionally bypasses the multiple hookstates that survivors have. And for the person who got slugged first, it's just several minutes of waiting for the killer to end the match, while you're unable to participate, but also not allowed to leave. And you can't even spectate, either.
And that last part is in contrast with hooks. If you're on the hook, you still have some options, provided you're not getting facecamped.
I also think that 'bypassing survivor hookstates' is the big issue people have with DS/BT/UB. You're supposed to hunt and down a survivor three times, but sometimes it feels like people are allergic to that concept here, with how upset they get over 'second chance' perks.
I just fail to see the problem with second chance perks when the game is designed to give survivors three chances.
"You're supposed to hunt and down a survivor three times" And there it is, the problem. Play a game of non top tier Killer at the absolute highest MMR - I would LOVE to see you try this. It's not feasible, and it's not balanced. Slugging and tunneling exist because playing "fair and nice" gets the Killer 4 teabags at exit gate and Survivors telling them they suck and hope the Killers family gets cancer.
-
Only if the game will now show if a Survivor is near the hook upon it being activated.
Survivors camping and bumrushing hook saves should not ever get a free pass to do so.

The only one I really agree with is Dead Hard, but I don't think either of OP's suggestions work to fix it, and I don't know what I'd do about it either. It's really more just very annoying than a huge problem.
They are OBJECTIVELY second chance perks, besides maybe Borrowed Time. Even then I don't MIND second chance perks, but there MUST be a cost. Decisive got one: You can't do anything for 60 seconds. Now the rest need one too. Top Survivors run all of these perks for a reason, they are good and FREE. Free with no cost or downside, and cover nearly every strategy a Killer could employ, along with SWF comms, boosted Medkits, map offerings for one of the many broken maps in the game, etc.

If you DH into a window you won't be able to fast vault it
Changes nothing, Dead Hard used well extends a chase whether it be a window OR pallet. Everything you list about "countering" Dead Hard consists of either luck or mistake on the Survivors side, that is ZERO counter play from the Killer in any form.
