If you're not able to hook all 4 survivors that match at least once then you don't deserve to get a free win because of a perk and you deserve to lose that match . But hey your right I should just jump into a match with a 4 man SWF so I don't have to worry about it, obviously no one has a problem with 4 mans right 🙄

Ok, are you really going to make me do this? I didn't really feel like bringing out the rhetorical sledgehammer this morning, but it seems like you desperately need some perspective.

    1. The Killer doesn't get a "free" win. That is entitled, self-involved thinking. You should be ashamed of yourself.
    2. Just because NOED goes off, you don't magically get found, run down, or put on a hook.
    3. Even if you don't find and cleanse it during the early match, you can still do it after you discover it is around.
    4. There are lots of Killers who either START the game with Insta-Down and have it all game, or gain it during game.
    5. These other methods of Insta-Down don't even give you, the Survivor, a way to turn them off.
    6. There are two gates; the Killer can't be at both at the same time.
    7. You can simply choose to leave; nothing forces you to be super altruistic.
    8. You can still loop, assuming you know how.
    9. There are still Perks and Add-on(s) that you or your Teammates can use to get someone right back up.
    10. Accept that this COMMON Perk is there because the DEV want it to be there and available to every Killer.

So now that I gave you a quick top ten (and I could go a lot higher), let's delve into a few of them. Chainsaw-wielding maniacs can Insta-Down you all game. They make NOED look tame. There are other Perks which allow Insta-Down like Haunted Ground, Make Your Choice, Iron Maiden, etc. Devour Hope even lets you add the Mori in. These things tend to happen early to mid game as well as at the end. There are Killers whose Power allows them to Insta-Down you, the best known examples being Oni and my man Myers. You don't get a way to turn our power off; bummer right? I could go on and on. The only reason NOED feels worse to you is because you are operating under a DELUSION. You think because you got all those Generators up that you won, that you deserve it.

That isn't how it works. You haven't survived until you get out the gate. It is YOU that is expecting some kind of undeserved win.

No it's not fair at all that if I'm carrying the whole team and doing everything just to get punished for it at the end. I play killer as well and I never use it because it's a cheap perk IMO. But it's like I said most survivors don't care if they get hit by noed at the end but that killers played well all match, the only time it's a problem is when they've played poorly and then they are being rewarded for it at the end of the match by getting kills because of a perk.

Then start posting about Teammates NOT DOING THEIR share. It clearly isn't NOED being the problem. Bad teammates are going to be an issue whether NOED is in the game or not. :) And if you don't like being part of that 4v1, just play Killer or find a game where you don't have to rely on anyone; there are plenty of them out there. We all face NOED. Plenty of us are able to function just fine and still get out, win even. If I can play Solo and weather the trials and tribulations of NOED, so can you.

I run it all the time solo. But there's still times when I'll cleanse 4 totems do more gens and hooks saves than the rest of my team and end up in the longest chases with the killer and still get hit with Noed at the end even without getting caught through the entire match. Is that still fair?

Yes. This is a 4v1 game. If the rest of your team didn't pull their weight, start posting and complaining about that. NOED isn't the problem then, it is clearly Survivors CHOOSING not to do Bones. 4v1 is a TEAM effort and hopefully more people will stop ignoring Totems which are an objective in the game. Choosing to ignore them is the SAME gamble the Killer makes when he/she chooses to put them in, i.e. high risk and potentially high reward. So lets say YOU and your team ignore the entirely. You don't do a single one, even though you normally do 2-4 by yourself. You focus entirely on Generators. You burn through them and at the end of the game, HIGH REWARD you all get out and see there were no Totems of importance. Good on you. But the opposite is the gamble. The Killer built for End Game, and all the sudden you all pay a high price.

This is no different for the Killer. They gamble they will get a return on those things, that you won't find (or simply ignore) his/her Totems. They play the match Perks down hoping some of these will pay off late game. Do you see where I'm going with this. So, YES... it is fair. Do Bones.

  • @SMitchell8 said:

You'll laugh at this bit then.

The game before this one, I did exactly the same, avoided trapper all game, all others got hooked twice, fixed 2 gens, 1 save, 1 disarm and then got dropped and mori'd by Devour Hope the only time he got close to me 😫

    He earned it though.

Yep. The problem for all stealthy but productive Survivors is that toward the end game you often catch a back building wave from hell.

  • @TrollToll said:

Its felt this way ever since clown was released with the store that the devs prioritize new players over there older ones, it feels like that to me and its gotten me bummed out for a real long while now.

Congratulations; you have earned the most nonsensical (to Moundshroud) post of the year so far. Hell, I'd say it won last year too. You don't explain "how" Veterans are being neglected, or how they are receiving any different treatment than anyone else. Moreover, are you implying they deserve better treatment? Please do not confuse the word veteran in video game context as having the same meaning as military veterans; that would be idiotic and insulting.

  • @SMitchell8 said:

I played perfectly last night against a huntress. Avoided her all game, repaired 2 gens, 2 saves and then got hit by noed with about 3 seconds of exit gate left as she was camping a hooked survivor just yards away. Didn't deserve to lose that match. Annoying perk but it's a part of the game, just had to suck it up. Not sure how it can be changed.

But did you play "perfectly" in reality? I notice some missing things from your list above; you don't mention doing any Bones. Also, "avoiding" the Killer all game isn't generally considered perfect either. It means you didn't spend your share of time in chases, but that is very subjective. What is key is you THINK yo played perfectly but didn't cleanse a single Totem. I would submit that it is your perception of things that might need some adjustment. Also, why would you go to the same gate where the Killer is camping a Hook nearby? Wouldn't it make more sense to run to the other gate? A camping Killer isn't going to intercept you there.

I appreciate that you accept it is part of the game, and know we just have to suck those kind of things up, however, and I salute that.

But why are the realising cosmetics from battlepass 1. I see this as just a easy money grab from work that's been done before. Arent the battlepass meant for grind for limited edition skins. It's such a stupid topic to pick up to becuse the people who werent there can be happy to buy them, but the people who grinded just get more and more shut down.

I feel like today when you see a really good skin or cosumetic its not that cool anymore, you can just buy it. The ondly real flex today is the Legasy. Everthing else is eather realised for free or bought in the shop.

But hey, at least we keeps our charms, ffs

Your mindset is so alien to me that it makes me wonder if we are from the same species. Do you play the game for the fun of the game, or do you play it the way someone who is six plays with a Barbie or a Ken doll, i.e. to dress them up in all sorts of outfits? Cosmetics are the least important thing about this game. To date, I've bought one; I purchased the Krampus cosmetic for my Trapper. Sometimes I remember to put it on him. Do you get my point? If the cosmetics are what matter to you, there are countless games and simulations where you can focus on that. Some of them do have unique outfits. Go knock yourself out.

As to your overall, silly points:

    1. This game is upkept by a business, and it costs money. They monetize certain things, cosmetics among them.
    2. If you want to be special and stand out, become one of the best at this game; throw yourself up on Youtube and prove it.
    3. Stop wasting our time.

The problem rests mainly with solo queue. Survivors can't just do bones while solo queueing because it is hard to keep track of totems and know who has done any. A map would help, but no one really uses them. I like Otzdarva's proposed changes a little better. He mentioned that the killer should have an insta down for each individual survivor hooked or remaining totems left in the trial.

And this is where we disagree. I play Solo Que 90% of the time. I find that I am able to do Bones and clearly so are the other Survivors I get lumped in with. I know this to be a fact because NOED is rarely an issue, and even when it does come up, someone goes and finds the now lit one and ends the issue. If you want to talk about how Solo and Team are different, I'll talk about that with you all day. I think they should be in different Ques so that balance issues can be done via objective rather than Perk. But NOED is not really an issue. I know this for a fact because while Ruin+Undying was King people did Totems and NOED vanished until recently when Killers changed what regression combos were being used most often. I saw, both as Survivor and Killer, Totems get nuked off the map inside the first two minutes. Did it slow Generators down a bit? Yeah. That is why they are there, so there are other objectives.

If my complaint about NOED is something you have heard many times before then why even bother commenting?

All I am saying is that NOED should be changed. I don't think that survivors should have to cleanse totems for no reason 90% of games only for the small chance of the killer having NOED. It is a bigger problem in solo queue and just because you don't have a problem with it because you cleanse totems doesn't mean everyone else does the same. It also doesn't make sense that totems should be made as a secondary objective made just for NOED either unless of course.

If the devs want people to actually do totems, then they should think of a better way to encourage people to cleanse them other than the killer possibly using NOED or hex perks as an excuse because not everyone uses them all the time.

I comment because this is a tired issue, and I feel driven to comment on it every time. Totems are objectives. If I had my way NOED would work like this (to truly drive the point home):

    1. NOED activates exactly as it does now.
    2. Anyone who has not cleansed at least one Totem is now Exposed.
    3. The exit gates are blocked to anyone who has not cleansed a Totem.
    4. Cleansing the now lit NOED Totem will end all effects.

Totems were intended as additional objectives by the DEV so that Gen-Rush wasn't the end all be all. I think they should step UP how many Totems hit end game (and hit hard) just like NOED to drive the point home. Do Bones.

  • I've made this suggestion before, and I'll do it again. NOED isn't a problem as it is now. However, if you want to really drive home that people should do Totems, I would make the following change.

    1. NOED activates the same as now.
    2. Anyone who has NOT cleansed a Totem suffers Exposed.
    3. The exit gates are blocked to anyone who has not cleared a Totem.
    4. Killing the now lit NOED will end all effects as normal.

Why do I suggest this? It should make it clear to people that Totems are an objective and you SHOULD do one.

  • @Yords said:

In my opinion, NOED should be changed instead of nerfed.

Right now, the perk is being mostly used as a crutch for new players. I know this for a fact because I did the same when I first started playing killer. Why would I not have run it? It gave me a chance to get some kills at the end game and as a new player, this is an absolute win for me. I eventually stopped using it and moved on to BBQ and chili a long time ago.

Almo himself said something along the lines of it being balanced as a high-risk high reward perk. He also said that it is the survivor's fault for not cleansing the dull totems the whole match.

I disagree with this statement. I do not think that a survivor team should be punished for not cleansing totems that they probably couldn't spend time finding, especially because of solo queue. Most people are solo queueing when it comes to playing survivor, how are they supposed to coordinate that? If you have one person in solo queue look for totems all game, that is one useless survivor (pretty much) and they might not even know if anyone has cleansed totems yet so they have to assume that and probably waste a lot of time. In solo queue, your best time spent is time spent on generators and healing less than experienced survivors so that everyone including yourself has a better chance of escaping.

Also, why should survivors cleanse totems for the small chance of a killer having the perk? It has been months since I have had to deal with NOED at rank 1. So should I be punished for being a good survivor all game only to get instantly downed because I didn't cleanse the totems that most likely did not matter to cleanse in the first place?

Conclusion: NOED should be changed, to what? I don't know, you guys think of something.

I think that NOED should have a different end game effect on survivors that encourages them to leave for as long as the hex is active. Just something about it needs to be changed.

Ok; I read your post AGAIN to see if I missed something. I didn't. I disagree with you. Your complaint about NOED is the same song and dance I've read many times before. Hence, why I made the joke about being basic. Nobody forces you to do Totems. Don't do them. I play Solo Que myself. I do Totems. Do you want to know how often NOED has been a problem for me? You probably don't, but I'll tell you; it isn't a problem. Totems are objectives. They have always been objectives. The DEV clearly want people to do them.

You have a choice, and you reap the whirlwind of those choices. If anything I'd make NOED worse to reinforce and make it crystal clear that people should be killing Totems. The funny thing is that prior to Oppression+Pop being the flavor of the day, Undying+Ruin all but killed NOED outside the potato Ranks. It turns out people can, and do, kill Totems fast and efficiently. NOED is just flaring back up in to common use again because some Survivors are CHOOSING not to do Totems again. Go figure.

  • Hrm. I'll go back and read it again and see if I missed that you were being sarcastic or something.

In my opinion this kind of thing should be bannable, it basically change the whole idea of the game and it gives u an immense advantage over everyone else.

Is this ever going to be addressed? do devs even care about people cheating like this?

It is a great thought, but logistically impossible. No one knows how you set your monitor or television. Sadly, only those Players who do this will know they had to give themselves a competitive edge and that none of their accomplishments mean diddly.

  • I'm going to go against the grain here I think:

    Tunneling

    verb

    gerund or present participle: tunneling

dig or force a passage underground or through something.

*I don't really think it has much, if any, meaning in DbD.

  • I've run into Bully Squads before that like to take it. Largely I find it a convenient effort on their part to help me kill them. After the first Head On hits you, and it is clear what is going on, you can use it against them. And if you really want, Iron Maiden is getting a heck of a buff shortly. :)

  • I've said it before, and I'll say it again now. I won't even get out of bed for 250K. I earn that in just a 6-12 matches depending on the Offerings. Am I going to grind like crazy to earn that? No. The only reason I fought for Rank was to try and make sure that I would be fighting against the toughest opponents I could. I'm sure as heck not going to grind so that at the end of the month I get a "tip" as a pat on the head. I'm not being snarky, by the way, just honest.

In theory, the new MMR (the mystery system they have not explained yet) will be giving me the tough opponents based on the data collected. In short, to get what is important to me will no longer require me to play a lot. Every game should be against appropriate opponents. Does that mean I will play less? Yeah, probably. It is one of the reasons I've suggested they put in a Leaderboard so vain people like me have something to aspire to, i.e. keep us playing. I believe in being humble in victory, and gracious in defeat. That means no salt or strutting like a peacock at the end of a match. A Leaderboard lets me show off in a good sportsman-like way.

Me, personally, I'd rather have a Rank reward that gives built in multipliers of BP earned rather than some flat amount. That encourages people to play more games to cash in on it. It would be more progressive, and reward the people who provided more games for all.

I mean, my first game I'm Freddy. From the start she's teabagging after I bring a Bloody Party Streamers. Because they messed up his dream realm so even at point blank, Object can see you. I couldnt mind game a single loop so I had to just leave her alone the whole game. It was only when she was healing others I got a hit but she just ran to every loop I'd need Bloodlust to have a hope of just out running her. Between that and when I'm chasing someone else, she just stayed in dream realm and triggered all my puddles and teabagged as I looked to see where they were. I got two kills against all reds and purples when I'm 17. Only because Object was a two man team and the other two played more like 15's rather than reds.

Second game I was a Deathslinger and you know how he really needs the stealth to sneak up and chain people. Well because Object is tied to giving visual while outside the terror radius, I couldnt do that. Every time I tried she ran off so I knew I'd never catch her. Then she would always just go back to the gen and work on it in front of me or while I was chasing someone around it. (Again just teabagging with it) I only managed to get her once all game, again only cause she was healing another and I had 8 stacks of PWYF.

I know this is a complaint but damn they really need to rework this perk. Make it that you have to be outside a distance of the killer, not just outside a terror radius. Cause imagine you're a Tier 2 Vanity Mike with M&A and they can see you through walls past 6 metres. Youd never get anyone.

OoO is not a horrible Perk for a Solo, but it is viciously abused by SWF. As a Freddy Player you have a great answer. The OoO can see you and you her/him. Teleport to Generator closest to the OoO behind them or whatever. When you are are close enough, OoO shuts down. Tunnel and kill them.

Hey folks! I made my first post about how I like to let survivors go a while back. Just wanted to come back to say that survivors treat me like trash no matter how fair I play.

Thus I have decided to be toxic back. When survivors t bag. Or switch items last second so I can’t pick perks to counter. Or are clearly using voice coms(Not for fun but to sweat and coordinate like crazy) as a 4 man swf (not cheating but incredibly unbalanced) I tunnel and face camp them!

It feels great. Especially the voice com using swf. They come into the game with 2 flashlights, 2 toolboxes, bond, everyone running decisive and borrowed time, hook sabo for days, t bagging flashlight clicking etc... Then they complain that they got camped. I love reading all the hate filled messages after. I hate this game. The people that play it are trash and they have made me trash.

I don't recall if you are the same person I answered when I first heard this post by someone saying they always try to be a nice Killer. I said then, and I'm saying so again now, why would you do this to yourself? All you have to do to be a good sport is the following:

    1. Don't cheat, either by hack or lag spike.
    2. Don't disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory, and gracious in defeat.

All that other silly stuff, i.e. codes of behavior telling you what you should and shouldn't do are pointless. I told you then, that it would not matter. Bad sports are going to be jerks to you no matter how nice you place. You are now in a classic overcorrection. Check yourself before you wreck yourself. Just play the game. Ignore the after game chat. Give a polite GG or say nothing at all. Play hard. Why cede bad sports another victory.

Escaping is the main goal for survivors. Yes, we should be rewarded for it. And you clearly did not read my post where I literally explained the situation of the match. No, I did not just do nothing the whole match. I was constantly running from the killer and worked on a gen in the very short amount of time I had. I was hooked twice and was very lucky to not die. After all that and the odds I still depipped for it. Not fair.

I hate to say it, but what you are saying doesn't track. As others have pointed out, if you survived and lost a Pip, it means you did literally nothing of note. Those chases you THINK you were in with the Killer were probably someone else's chases where you were just close enough for the music.

Now I fight a rainbow selection every single match. That means something is broken, something important.

Yeah no I am not that pathetic. I dont even play this way. I go 12 hooks unless forced not to or I get mad. I've lost games because I dont like slugging or tunneling all the time. I picked this map because it's small and has good loops. I had certain scenarios that matched up, some quick downs on easier loops a long chase for a survivor using the harder loops and the going back to hook is because the way I pictured the hooks in my head were closer together. The hotspot for hooks is usually around killer shack whenever I play. So to me this scenario was assuming people were downed in the stronger part of the map.

Slippery slope my friend. One can tunnel every Survivor and still get 12 hooks. :) There is no difference between the cause and effect of what you are talking about and what I point out about the Mori method to achieve the same end. The intent is to reduce the opposing team to a 3v1 so their odds of being able to get enough Generators done in time is significantly reduced. The intent is the same. The application is the same (one is merely more efficient). One is no less pathetic than the other. It is a tactic, no more and no less. One way is just easier to hide what you are doing, while the other is more honest (along with efficient).

Next you’re gonna tell me Legion is OP because Survivors choose to stay insta-downable when playing against them

No, why would I tell you that. What I'm saying is that leaving yourselves all one hit from the dying state just because Myers might be ready to Tier-3 on you is not a good choice. There isn't much reason to stop and heal while Myers is in Tier-3 or you know he has the Fragrant Tuft of hair, but otherwise it is never a bad option to heal up with a Med-Kit or another Survivor's help.

In regards to your Legion comment, I think I should address it. No, I don't make it a habit of staying wounded all match just because Legion has Feral Frenzy. The best way to deal with Legion is for everyone to split up and go to the four corners of the map and work Generators. This minimizes Legion's ability to wound everyone at once and track by heartbeats. Staying injured all game isn't any better a strategy against Legion than it is Myers. It would be a judgement call based on your current situation.

For that matter, there are lots of Killers that have Insta-Down. Chainsaw maniacs start the game with it and have it all the time. Most Killers have a way to get it through their Power, Perks, or Add-On(s). That doesn't mean I'm going to play the entire game injured against them either. It is a judgement call based on a specific match and the conditions therein. If your reasoning were taken to its logical conclusion, everyone would be running No Mither. :)

  • @KateMain86 said:

Well I had one of those matches where the killer was so sweaty getting anything done would be nothing short of a miracle. When that happens I try to make the most of the situation but I also know how much you have to do to just safety pip let alone get a pip. The match became a hatch game and I was the last one left. I found the hatch and escaped. I was only able to get about half a gens worth of progress done. The rest of the match was literally running and hoping not to die on a hook.

I literally felt like I was punished for escaping. Doing anything else to try to get more points would've led to me dieing and depipping anyway. I hate the ranking system in this game. Lately its been causing way more frustration than fun and when a game does that to me I just stop playing it.

Escaping isn't that hard. You can even build for a style of escape which COUNTS on your teammates all dying so you can get the hatch. Don't scoff; it is entirely viable and probably one of the dirtiest Survivor builds in the game. The game doesn't just want you to survive. Now here is where it's contradictory. Tunneling is scummy as hell to me if you don't NEED to do it. So end game is where you need to go all out but also beginning. If you dont like to tunnel you dont have to just down the unhooked and eat the ds as soon as possible if they Don't have it drop them. Slugging will add almost if not more pressure than a hook and if they have unbreakable that means they wasted it and it doesn't affect tbe game so dont try and say that. And once you have two ds gone maybe you lose a gen from.that but if you can down and redown two survivors from one gen or almost a gen youre obviously doing good. So now lets look at it logically. Say I am on rancid abbotoir against an average red rank swf. Not too good at looping but enough to waste time and know how to do gens. Abbotoir has a really mean set up at kille shack with meat tree and some other loops that are really strong.

Now there is a Dwight, nea, jake and Claudette. Eat ds early force, unbreakable early and dont camp. Now lets say no shrouds, so you spawn by harvester so go to killer shack gen and find 2 people. Now 2 people cant do that gen why 2 others are doing whatever and 1 is being chased on shack. You get maybe 1 or even 2 initial hits on them 1 being most probable so you chase them. They leave towards harvester direction to a jungle gym. Loop it correct with moonwalk yada yada and now you got a down in maybe 30 seconds maybe a gen pops because of 2 survivor or 2 gens halfway done because the 30 second chase and the walking whatever. But that other survivor goes to killer shack again so you go that direction with pop or whatever and now you chase that one. One person leaves their gen and this survivor goes down faster or a bit slower hook them and go back to the unhook. See the injured person and down them. No ds so you drop them instead of hooking because you don't want to be a dick.

As the other cycles to the other hook while that last survivor pops the first gen and starts to work on another one or the other halfway done one. So you down the recently saved one in another 20 seconds maybe they got to a pallet or their teammate took a hit. So you eat ds and boom its fone and one person doesn't have ds. So now that survivor left to the gen he was on while its about to be finished or thw other survivor went to heal the slugged one. The ds guy runs away expecting a tunnel.

So if you look at this scenario you realize not everything is perfect I didnt account for lapse of skill or perks. So if you respond with oh what if they have dead hard or bt or whatever you are just trying to find out why what im sayimg can't work when others have done this and ive done this. Ok anyways I digress, so now 3 people maybe even 4 aren't doing anything. 1 gen gone and another is now popped if not close to it.

So instead of looking at the multitudes of scenarios where you go back to the picked up slug or patrol generators or go to rhe gen almost done, lets look at the opportunities for pressure. 2 people are available to tunnel at ANY point. So say you end up getting looped bad and multiple gens pop now you for 1 left and just hooked the one without ds. And you go after girl who used it. You down and hook her as the other girl gets unhooked so you tunnel her. Dead. Expand pressure interrupt a gen down that survivor or whatever you do. Now the other girl get unhooked and you can tunnel her go after the person who saved. Maybe the last gen pops and they have adrenaline you still can chase them and down them. You either risk the 2 man escape and find the other or maybe you have bbq or maybe they leave. You can still end with a 3k unless you play bad and even rarely get a 4k.

So I believe I went over this very detailed. I showed how lack of pressure to gens can affect the match, I avoided too much detail but I even showed the effects of getting looped bad. So its up to you guys on whether you take this as advice or dismiss it. But all I have to say is you are NOT entitled to a 4km a 3k is still a win. Maybe some people ha unbreakable, who knows but if you waste their perks you win. If you decide to actually hook anyone who you find doesn't have ds you now have an extremely easy match which I think is for bad killers but I dont blame you. And not every game does everyone have ds and most matches I play dont even have unbreakable and ds and unbreakable is even more rare. So if you always act scared you end up causing your own demise. Average killers aren't that good and get looped by people who know what they are doing so they feel forced to tunnel. I rarely tunnel and usually 4k with oni, who I main. And average survivors can't loop good and the only reason they loop people is because killers arent good either. A group I played with recently they werw red rank but werent very good at looping. They looped killers on public matches and when I go against them they couldnt loop at all. Dont always blame your loss on others or perks. Your skill matters.

    This is to EVERYONE

It depends on what you are trying to do. Tunneling out a 4v1 into a 3v1 as rapidly as possible to make sure the Survivors are playing from behind the Eight Ball is a valid strategy simply to end up with a 3K+ but it won't necessarily maximize your score in Emblems or BP. Don't get me wrong. I think camping, tunneling, slugging, and the Mori are all valid tactics. I just think they are special use, depending on the match. I'm not sure it is as straightforward, black and white as you are painting it. If you really are committed to this route of play, you should make use of the Mori. I'm sure you (like most of us) have a ton of these overpriced paperweights left. If you truly believe your logic, you should:

    1. Take a Mori (Green or Red will do).
    2. Hook 1st Survivor.
    3. Camp lightly, i.e. just enough to let people come in and you chase them off, playing keep away. This has the added benefit of taking at least 1+ more Survivors off Generators. If you lightly camp with a series of short patrols, someone will attempt to make the rescue. You might even get more than one as they see you chasing the first would-be rescuer away.
    4. Allow the rescue once the hooked has gone to 2nd Stage.
    5. Tunnel and Mori them. You now get the benefit of no DS as well.

Do you see my point? This method is far more efficient and will maintain some Generator pressure at the same time. Once you have it at a 3v1, depending on if (and how many) Generators came up, you can play rather casually. Before anyone gets all in an uproar, I'm not advocating this type of play. I'm pretty neutral, and don't care how people choose their tactics as long as they are legal. There is no reason to over-complicate the subject; if you are simply talking about reducing the game from a 4v1 to a 3v1 while maintaining maximum pressure, this is the more efficient route as you tie up more Survivors, and only have to tunnel off the first hook once.

I'm new to the game and I'm trying to learn killer (rank 11)

It's tough because almost every game I just end up getting looped for an eternity. I instantly break the pallet (unless it's a bad loop) and they just run to another one and another and so on, and it never ends.

I don't have the blood points to get perks that would help me with this and getting blood points in the first place is hard lol.

    Any tips? :)

Simple; learn to break off chases that aren't going anywhere. I do it all the time.

At a certain point, there’s no reason to heal against Myers because you know he’s stalked enough to have Tier 3 at 99%.

I had a game where everyone made the same realization and just pretended the Myers was a Legion. I felt kinda bad. He ended up finally popping Tier 3 at the exit gate just to prove that he had it. No one healed, we all had Dead Hard, Myers had no power. Honestly, it was kind of sad

Hrm. You gave him insta-down all game; I don't think your choosing not to heal is WHY this particular Myers lost.

  • @Yords said:

Think about it, how would you balance keys yourself in a way that is strong, but not too strong? I would be willing to bet that the idea you think of is not great.

A popular idea that I hear quite a bit is that we should allow it to only let one person escape per key and have a 3-second animation of opening the hatch. The problem with this idea is that it would still be incredibly powerful as all survivors would just run a key knowing they could easily escape.

I myself don't know any other rework ideas for the keys, but you get the point. The keys are very complex when you stop and think about it. Moris on the other hand were much more unbalanced and much stronger. Keys at least require the survivors to do generators.

The mori change was good for the game itself. Most killers who ran it only used it against survivors holding a key which created very unfun and unhealthy gameplay. Being tunneled off of the first hook only to be moried is worse because it can happen so much faster.

Was it the best change? Probably not. But it is a good change. If you are complaining about the change, you are probably a killer who relied on moris to kill survivor teams using keys.

It wouldn't matter if the idea was "not" great; it couldn't be any worse than the simplistic, minimal effort they applied to the Mori. :) Instead of a nuanced tweak, they just changed a 1 to a 2 which was not the best choice for us. It simply didn't require any coding effort by them.

Keys should be done exactly the same way. They will not allow more than one person to exit through the hatch, and they will no longer open the hatch until the End Game Collapse or only one Generator remains. Problem solved. They will have about the same practical effect as the Mori now.

Infinite name changes is bad for any community. Anonymity leads to excessive toxicity.

No account statistics is disappointing for individual players, but it also means there is a lack of reputation or a background for opponents and teammates. This game's social system lacks accountability.

Add statistics and profiles. Make a deadbydaylight specific account/name instead of steam names or other console tags per dbd account. Allow the ability to add friends within this system.

This would be a great first step to a better community.

True, but there are probably legal hurdles to get that accountability. More is the pity. I never change my name. I pride myself (and excessive pride has always been my downfall) on my name. I want people to recognize it. I damn sure wish the game would recognize whatever stat the MMR is supposedly using. I keep getting to "taste the rainbow" and have a Brown, Yellow, Green, and either a Purple or Red in my matches. That is insane.

It is ok to do anything within the rules. The only things you should hold yourself to are:

    1. Don't cheat, either with hacks or lag spikes.
    2. Don't disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

That means you should feel free to take any legal action.

We all know how stupid it feels to get camped on the Killers First Hook.

This is the Idea. A survivor right now needs 120 sec. to die on Hook...

Why not use the Hook counter for something good. If you have 1 Hook, the time for s survivor to die is 180 sec. On his 2 Hook a survivor needs 160. The 3 one takes 140. 4 needs 120 and for every other hook the time for a survivor to die Take 100 sec. That means 50 sec. on secound state.

A Killer who Camp get punished and a Killer who don't get a benefit.

    Thank me later

The best thing the DEV can do about camping is exactly what they have been doing all this time:

    1. Advising you that it is a legitimate tactic.

    2. Continue supporting agency among both Killers and Survivors.

    3. Advise you to apply in-game solutions to in-game problems.

  • And as a follow up I went looking for this for you to give some context about old video games:

So I got caught and hooked just to be camped. Once saved was tunneled non stop until death on hook. Then they just let everyone else finish gens and leave. #########? This is why I rather run the meta perks and play toxic because when I try to be different I get screwed. So back to the usual easy escape builds and toxic play. Killers whine and complain but continue to be toxic aswell. Screw it. Cant beat'em join'em.

You will have to forgive me but I don't think you will be any harder to kill loading up on the so-called Meta Perks. I'm not sure how this myth got started, but the common Survivor Meta Perks don't ensure your survival; more often they don't do squat for you. They only become really strong when spammed by a SWF. You shouldn't let one bad match tilt you. It is the wrong attitude to have in this game, and it will diminish your fun.

You should probably stop using the word "toxic" and ignore anyone who throws it around willy nilly. There is no such animal. There is just what is legal under the rules and what isn't legal. You got tunneled? So what? It happens to everyone now and then. To some people, it seems to happen all the time. Weird; I don't know what to say to that, except that the only common denominator in all those matches is the guy/gal getting tunneled. Perhaps they should own up to being a factor in it themselves.

By all means, play as hard as you want. I never understand people who aren't giving a 100%. Just keep silly statements about codes of honor and that to yourself. That is just pathetic, passive aggressive nonsense. The only thing one has to do to be a "good sport" playing Dead by Daylight is:

    1. Don't cheat, either by hacks or lag spikes.
    2. Don't disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

And for the record, getting tilted and ranting about toxic players isn't being gracious in defeat.

that's a good way to increase queue times

Not at all; in fact, following my advice speeds up the match against Face Campers because the idea is to get all five generators up in about five minutes and out the door. Faster matches, means quicker queues.

    Great post. However

1: It's been proven that if enough people scream about something the devs will cave in to their demands from time to time. Prime example is the Freddy nerf shortly after release. I still agree self improvement is the best method.

2: I remember the old days where video games were actually difficult. They made them that way because technology was limited. Therefore the games were very short. So they had to make them difficult so you didn't breeze through it. Only games like Darksouls and Bloodborne actually remind me of the difficulty of the old games.

Perhaps, but I'm not certain it is the screaming that moves the DEVs. I think they move in mysterious ways, and for their own reasons. That is why they fix things that nobody was asking for and ignore things for years that clearly over 90% of the people here agree on (Survivor or Killer). :) In fact, I think that screaming and ranting about things here is a diminishing return, not unlike too many people working one Generator. The din, the noise, the vile and entitled angst turns them off. It is so bad in many cases that any good suggestions are killed off along with the mostly bad emo garbage.

Of course the games you mention don't seem old me. I remember my excitement playing Pong for the first time, or Death Race 2000 in a Bowling alley. I drove around a black and white square (didn't look like a car) to try and run down stick figure men. Yeah, the first arcade games were black and white. Before they added color they would tint the screen for games like Star Castle. Games like Asteroids, PacMan, Centipede, and all the rest just got harder until they couldn't get any harder. You couldn't "finish" them. You just played till you died. The High Score was enough satisfaction. That is why I hope they put up a Leader Board once Rank no longer matters.

  • What you are experiencing is the Potato's Lament. We all had to go through it. New Killers, just like new Survivors don't know much. They aren't very good at hunting. They don't know how to patrol Generators effectively, and cannot take full advantage of their speed in 1v1 chases yet. They also don't have a huge array of Perks yet to help them find those pesky Survivors. So if/when they get someone on the hook, they think that "a bird in hand is better than two in the bush." This isn't true actually. Camping is bad for new Killers because it:

    1. Deprives them of practice they desperately need.
    2. It also deprives them of points and Emblem advancement, as more Survivors tend to escape.
    3. It creates a bad habit that tends to stick with them for a long time.

New Killers don't yet understand that they should want you to get off that hook, so they can hook you again. The game rewards more chases, more hits, and more hooks. Chances are if you caught that person once, you will catch them again. You need to be out there learning how to find the other Survivors. You also don't want to scare off potential rescuers. Remember, every Survivor going to unhook someone is not working on Generators. Potato Killers whose close proximity to the hook prevents people from trying to rescue only hurts them.

There is good news Potato Survivors; this too shall pass. As Killers get better, they tend to "face camp" (what I call Squatting) less and less. Why? Natural selection. It doesn't take too long to figure out it isn't a productive tactic in "most" situations. Best of all, you can help cure them of the habit. It doesn't require punishments or long, loud diatribes here on the forum. This is an in-game behavior and it is best dealt with by in-game solutions. I warn you, however, it is a harsh and unforgiving method. It does work. Please consider the following:

    1. A Face Camping Killer doesn't start with one of you on the hook. He/she usually starts on the far side of the map from the Survivors. The Killer must cross the map, find a Survivor, chase them, down them (which for most is not an insta-down at the start of the game), and then transport them to a hook. On average this takes a competent Killer a little over a minute. It can take a Potato Killer (the kind that does the most camping) much longer. This means before even the first person gets squatted on by the toad, you have precious time to get those first 1-2 Generators up. The next step is important so pay attention.
    2. Even if all four of you start together next to a Generator, DO NOT all get on it. At the start of the game, the most Survivors that should work one Generator is TWO. The benefit you get to speed is a diminishing return. It is far better that two sets of Survivors get on two different Generators. It is even better that two Survivors work that closest 1st Generator and the other two each go find their own Generator to work. This maximizes efficiency and ensures that if/when the Killer finds the first Survivor, it doesn't disrupt the overall work. Using this method you should get between 1-2 Generators up before the Killer gets the 1st Hook. And if you newbie Survivors can stay focused, you might even get three. Remember, Potato Killers can take a lot longer than average.
    3. Let's move on. The first Survivor has been hooked. It becomes clear to you that the Killer is squatting (Face Camping). Write that Survivor off. Remember, I said this is a harsh lesson. This is a game of 4v1. You win as a group and it is generally accepted that a 1K is a loss for the Killer. Does this suck for the person on the hook? Yes. Should that person on the hook buy you as MUCH time as possible? YES! They should not disconnect. They should not attempt to get themselves off the hook. They should sit quietly on the hook until they go to Stage-2 and then dutifully struggle until they are sacrificed. Time is the most precious resource in this game. That valiant hero on the hook is buying you two minutes which is generally enough for the other three Survivors to grind out three more generators. Remember, that once that hooked hero dies, the Killer then has to start searching again, chasing again, hope to get someone down, and then get this newest victim to a hook. The math is not in the Killer's favor if the Survivors are smart, ruthless and disciplined.
    4. If the Survivors apply these steps the odds are very good you can hold the Killer to a 1K at best, and a 2K at worst. The next step is trickier. If you were way ahead, say you got three Generators before that first hook and know you are going to get the other two before the 1st sacrifice, it is often a good idea to 99% the last Generator. In short, don't finish it. Have it need just a touch. Why? NOED. This Perk is very popular with desperate, new Killers. It will come online when you finish the last Generator. If you are in a SWF, you communicate to your pals so that one of them is at each gate ready to start opening it immediately, rather than having to run there after you power the last generator. You want them to have maximum time to open the gates before the Killer can get to them. It also bears noting that having one person at both gates ensures that even if the Killer gets one of them, the other two people can get out. That is why worst case scenario is a draw (if you are disciplined).

Are there things that can go wrong? Sure. Might the Killer just get lucky? Absolutely. But if you apply these tactics every time you get a Face Camper at the start of a match, you will get reliable results. You just have to overcome your own potato-ness. So stop crouching around the map and hiding in lockers and at the perimeter. Time is precious; every second you are not on a Generator while a Face Camper is sitting on your friend is an insult to that player's sacrifice. That player is doing the tedious duty of holding up the Killer for two minutes so YOU can get out. Don't be a jerk and waste it.

Now, some Potato Killers (particularly as they start to learn over the course of a few matches) start freaking out when Generators start popping all over the place. They just might leave that poor, unfortunate soul. When that happens, adapt your strategy. ONE (and no more) of you that is closest should go make the rescue if you can do it SAFELY. The other two work Generators. If one of you doesn't have a Generator to work, you kill Totems. Don't waste time. That should always be your mantra. Every second you aren't doing "something" is ceding ground to the Killer. One of the most infuriating things for the poor person on the hook to see is a bunch of you rummaging through chests, self healing in the middle of nowhere, crouching around, and so on. I never get mad a Killer doing his/her job. I get mad at idiotic Survivors wasting my sacrifice on their behalf. Just don't let it tilt you. Do NOT disconnect or suicide on the hook. Remember that these Survivors (like a Potato Killer) just don't know any better. They can't learn if you don't buy them time to do so.

Last but not least, I know a bunch of you have had some rough experience. Do not forget that I also have been where you are now. Everyone playing this game has had to go through it. I know you want to rage against the machine, demand punishments, scream about "toxic" Killers and all that jazz. Some of you will want to argue with me and tell me I'm wrong, or that I am not showing enough empathy for your experience. That isn't true. I wouldn't waste all this time posting if I didn't want to help you. There are just some things you must learn to accept to get past the frustration of being camped, tunneled, slugged, or even hit with a Mori.

    1. Stop worrying about what other people are doing and focus on what you have power over. Focus on in-game solutions and always think about what you could do better. You aren't going to change other people by giving them salt, grief, etc. nor will you get the DEV to change the game by screaming here.
    2. Set long term goals for yourselves. Don't get angry and lose it over any particular match. Go into each game expecting to lose. Treat them all as a learning experience. In the old days, you always lost video games. They were built that way. You played until you died. Being good just created a situation where you could play for longer and longer periods of time as the game just got harder and harder. Games where you could reach the "end" were more the exception than the rule. You put in your quarter and you played until you died; if you were good (or the best) your high score would be there for all to see. People who played games from that era are less tilted by the game because that is our normal. You have to have realistic expectations. In time you will get good enough (both as Survivors and Killers) that you win most of your matches. Just be realistic, there are a lot of dues to pay and there is no way to shortcut. With that in mind, long term goals are healthy because you inch toward them with every match whether you win or lose. Otz has a great video on how not to get tilted. I suggest watching it.
    3. Always remind yourself, when playing Survivor, that the game is designed in such a way that you can only win as a GROUP by working in cooperation. This doesn't require being in a SWF but it does require practice. Eventually, you just know what to do. You min/max your activities. Face Campers are the easiest Killers to defeat for the Survivors as a GROUP. In a short time, you are going to miss those Squatters and be cursing those high mobility, methodical Killers that seem to always be right on top of you. You are going to miss the matches where the Generators exploded on around the map in golden light.

Oh I see. Well thanks for clarifying that you're not actually trying to leave constructive feedback so that the devs hear from "all red rank killers" as you say. You just want to apply "heat" because this is a "kitchen" of sorts and if someone dares open their mouth and leaves feedback for devs in the feedback section of the forums, they leave themselves open to getting burned by people who aren't even the poster's target audience. I'm glad you've clarified that you're chiming in your two cents that I didn't ask for nor do I want, just because you can.

Go play your own game, dude. I'm good.

I'm making my point over and over again and YOU are helping me. You are proving it for me. Your answer to my question of why are you still here if you aren't having fun was "because I want to have fun." Ok; that is a bit cryptic but it is an answer. I'm going to suggest that you do a little research. Look back through the years on this Forum. Start counting the threads and posts where people complain about the things you ranted about. You will quickly discover why I point out that your sad song is redundant. You will also quickly discern why I am suggesting you will get no traction with your post.

If you want to have fun, then go play something you find fun. If you have fun posting passive aggressive posts here, and yes "trashing" the games you play, by all means continue. I know there are people that derive pleasure from that for some strange reason. Just be realistic. What is it exactly that you are asking the DEV to do beside establish a Leader Board (which I agreed with by the way)?

Your first so-called point was a slam on Survivors, complaining about Survivor Perks. Well give some specifics about what you want done about them. There are lots of threads discussing that. You don't give any constructive feedback there. You seem more fixated on the "obnoxious" Survivors. I don't think I need to go on about your 1st point.

Let's look at your second one. Mostly you are lamenting YOUR inability to exert control over the match. How is that the DEV's problem? Isn't that more your personal failing? What is it you want them to do, make things easier for you? How? There is the passive aggressive commentary about Ruin+Undying so I'm guessing point two is really you wanting to complain about that? If so, be direct. There are plenty of threads discussing that too. Let's try point number three.

You don't like matchmaking. That makes it pretty unanimous. Nobody is happy with matchmaking, including the DEV. That is why they are working on MMR again. This is the only section where you state anything which has validity and where you make a straightforward suggestion (the Leader Board). Great. I wish more of your OP had been so concrete.

Now let's tackle point four. You whined about stuns a lot. Apparently you don't like this basic mechanic of the game. I hate to break it to you, but it isn't going anywhere. You are just going to have to get better, so you get stunned less. You would have to be stunned twelve times to lose a minute in game. Are you getting stunned that much? I know you said it "feels" like a minute. Even if I parse your words and assume you are only getting stunned half what it feels like to you that means you got stunned six times? No, someone claiming to be a Red Rank can't be be getting stunned that many times. But even if I half that again, you are saying you get stunned 3 times in a match? Seriously? You wonder why I don't believe a word you say when you claim to have gotten to Rank-4 in less than a week? I mean, come on, why don't you just come clean. It is good for the soul.

So your points are largely just a rant, and you don't really suggest much. You are complaining a lot though. Constructive? No. I also wanted to address that 1v1 situation you seem to enjoy. Of course you win 1v1 chases in dead zones. You are faster than the Survivor. Their only option is to use terrain to outplay you, and/or stun you. I know it is inconvenient, the Survivors doing their best to stay alive and all, using the game mechanics provided to try to offset the fact that Killers win 1v1 most of the time. Do you see where I'm going with this? I'm also going to let you in on something; I'm like a snapping turtle. Once I bite down, I don't let go. So you and I can go round and round on this forever. I have the facts on my side. I have your post. I can quote it from here to eternity. I haven't even gotten into the fallacies of your various arguments yet. You can keep going, and so will I. You can drop it, and of course I would too. Or you can admit that maybe your original post wasn't as nice as you think You can perhaps accept that some of what you are complaining about is on YOU, not the game and not those "obnoxious" Survivors. Accepting personal responsibility goes a long way.

This would be relevant if I was taking potshots at the devs and absolutely trashing their game, but as I very clearly haven't been and have only left feedback on my experiences playing killer in a rank I shouldn't be in because the system boosted me here, you're absolutely correct that I'm not going to take that suggestion to heart. Again, don't need your feedback. I didn't leave mine for you to leave feedback on. It's for the devs who - and I don't know how many different ways I can explain this - explicitly created this sub-forum so that players could leave their feedback on their experiences playing the game. Now please, pretty please, feel free to helpfully digress in a conversation with someone that actually wants to hear it.

No; that is not how this works. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen. If you start a thread and leave feedback, it is an open forum (if you will) for all of us to also chime in, supporting or disagreeing with you. And do you really want me to take your OP apart paragraph by paragraph, word by word, and demonstrate that you were in fact trashing their game? You also seemed to be trashing Survivors too, as if they are doing something wrong using those darn LEGAL Perks that they paid for with blood, sweat, and tears. Seriously, if you want to let this drop, let it drop. But if you want to keep defending your post as if it was some polite, friendly commentary, well then I'm going to quote you and demonstrate why it isn't. So, shall we play a game?

Because I want to have fun? Because I like the premise of the game and I want to enjoy the actual gameplay?

You actually don't have to leave feedback on my feedback. Shocking, I know. If your feedback is positive, you should totally go and leave feedback in your own thread where you praise the balance of the game so that the devs can indeed hear you. But if I personally am not having a good time, I'm allowed to leave feedback in the feedback section. There's no arguments to have inconsistencies in because I'm not debating my experience with you. My experience is my experience and if it sounds like moaning or complaining to you, guess what, don't care, it's not directed at you. I don't need it validated or countered, I just wanted to share it, in a section of the forums where feedback is supposed to be shared. Can I clarify anything else for you now or are we good to just drop it?

Sure, but I am going to give you one last tip. My grandfather taught it to me, although he certainly was taught it by someone else. It is an old saying, that I'm sure you have heard but never really digested and implemented. "You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar." I'm 100% positive you could have made every point you wanted from your original post far more effectively if it wasn't a rant. The DEV are people, just like you and me. They take pride in their work. How do you feel when people unload on something you work on and take pride in? There are effective ways to give constructive critiques and there is the method you employed. I don't think you are going to listen to me, but I hope you do take this to heart. Thus ends my little, helpful digression.

And please, if I am a green rank killer, I need you to know that I don't think that's an insult and I'm very okay with the idea of staying in green ranks to grind games against other similarly skilled players slowly in order to improve at a more measured pace. Maybe all of my issues go away if the matchmaking was loads better than it is. Maybe. But it's not, and I don't like getting thrown in the deep end so quickly.

It wasn't intended as an insult. I simply estimated where I think you are based on the experiences you are describing. I base that estimate on my own passing through that stage, as well as my knowledge of other Killer mains. I did my time in the Green Ranks and I found them to be the most painful, stressful and educational. For some reason you fight more Purple and Red Survivors as a Green Rank Killer than you do anything else. By the time I hit the Purple Ranks I'd been playing against so many Red and Purple prior that I had less issue going through Purple and into Red. I'd say my hardest hill to climb was the Green. After that, the next hardest was going from Rank-4 to Rank-3. I sat at Rank-4 for a LONG time. Pips up and then Pips down. Once I broke through, I never went backwards... well aside from the resets. We have one coming up immediately and I'll be Rank-5 again for a day.

Thanks for that incredibly unhelpful reply. I don't remember asking for tips or tricks or saying my experience reflects everyone else's (although I know there are a lot of people that have also expressed frustration at the balance of the game). I also don't remember stating that I couldn't compete - apparently I can, even if I get a 0k apparently that isnt enough to depip because I did get a bunch of hooks and chases in that match.

All I've said and all I will continue to say is that the experience isn't fun, these are the reasons why, and here I am leaving them in the feedback section of the forums where I assume feedback belongs. Is that okay?

Ok? Your feedback says you aren't having fun. You claim to be doing AWESOME, a savant who in less than a week is fighting with the best. You claim you don't have a problem with anything that you ranted about in your original post. Do you see the contradiction? Clearly those things you are ranting about aren't really a problem? You just implied you can compete, you just aren't having any fun. Ok? So you want things easier than you have them now? You need to make some sense for your argument in feedback to hold any water (or get any attention).

I know you didn't ask for any tips or help, but I'm helpful guy. If I find someone moaning and whining in pain, I'm going to stop and render aid. Take a look at your first post, and tell me if that sounds like feedback or a moaning, painful rant? :) Do you see my point? I don't like inconsistencies in arguments. I don't like things that don't ring true. This game (like all games) does have its problems. Some of the things you mentioned are worthy of discussion, but the overall sad song you played us is tired, redundant and untrue. I'm giving you feedback on your feedback. I'm also posting in your thread because I feel an obligation to weigh in on this since you chose to speak as a Red Rank Killer. I think the DEV should hear from lots of Red Rank Killers, even those (like me) who disagree with you.

The Red Ranks, if you are truly there, are supposed to be hard fought. That is the entire point. Why else would you or I work so hard to get there. I would think you want to fight against the best of the best if you can find them. Naturally said people are going to min/max the crud out of their builds. Just like you, they are going to do their level best to win. That just makes killing them more satisfying. It makes the victory special. So, please clarify the inconsistencies in your statements. And answer one simple question; if you aren't having any fun, why are you still here?

You don't have to believe me. Not here to convince you. I'm just giving feedback from what my experience has been in a forum specifically catered towards receiving feedback.

For the record, blasting from brown ranks through to purple ranks was a breeze. I play Spirit if that helps because I enjoy her 1v1 - it rewards precision and good prediction and I got 3-4k almost every match during the climb - and I don't want to have to hold the game hostage using gen defence builds/killers cos that's about as unfun a way as I can imagine having to play. You can say Spirit is broken and I can see why you would, however my own personal opinion is that how can anyone say a 1v1 killer is broken when SwFs exist and a killer can be hard countered not by skill but by a survivor sitting on gens across the map from where you know a chase is happening?

It's not fun. It really isn't.

That's good, because I don't. In regard to your negative experience, you always can vote with your wallet. That will have far more effect than any post here. Matchmaking is terrible. It has been bad as long as I can remember, but that is neither here nor there. Sometimes it is awful in your favor and sometimes not. We are in the Wild West of DbD matchmaking; I suspect it is 1st in 1st out to speed up the queues. :)

I do agree that I would love to see a leaderboard go up, particularly now that Rank will be utterly meaningless except for the reward system they are going to put into play. I'm not holding my breath. In regards to feeling you have no power over the Red Rank matches, you are simply wrong. You have all the power you exert. I could care less what Killer you play; why would I? Spirit is an effective, high mobility Killer with very few direct counters. She is particularly effective against SWF because it is difficult to keep eyes on her. Nine times out of ten they don't see you coming and you should just be leaping out of haunting and downing them before they even get a chance to loop you. Your description of your experiences simply do not jive with what I know of Red Rank Spirit play.

The loss of the Undying+Ruin combo is hardly the end of the world. Oppression+Pop is actually a better option for a high mobility Killer like Spirit anyway. You can hook someone, force the Great Skill checks, instantly find out where other peopel are and haunt on top of them and get another hook. Wash, rinse, repeat. I know Red Rank Spirit players who pride themselves on doing grabs off Generators only. I play a very SLOW Killer by comparison. I'm a Myers main. Most of the time I'm a Spooky Myers main. I play him on all the maps, not just the smaller indoor selections. If I can play slow Spooky in the Red Ranks and get by, so can you. Judging by your description of things, I'd actually peg you as a Green Rank Killer. You are just good enough now that you are facing regular SWF and Solos that know what they are doing, and you get a lot of Red/Purple (who are a lot better than you) Smurfing. Regardless, if you aren't having fun, don't play. But don't assume your inability to compete as a Killer at a certain level is shared by the rest of us. It isn't.

    • obnoxious survivors playing right up in my face, abusing second chance perks meant to protect against tunnelling to make what should be an obscenely risky play with absolutely no drawbacks because no matter what I do, they'll get away with it using UB/DS/BT
    • I hate the feeling I get that I'm losing a game to players I don't even get to interact with because two players tag-team chases while two other people screw around on gens with these survivors rotating as needed, which I know is efficient gameplay but the feeling of having no control over the match is gross. It's gross from start to finish. This is why ruin undying became meta in the first place - killers need a way to exert control over the match outside of the 1v1 and ruin undying enables that. But that's being taken away too so 🤷‍♂️
    • The ranking system is rubbish. Am a dbd casual and I climbed from rank 20 to rank 4 in less than a week. I'm having literally zero fun up here and with no real sense of progression or metrics to compare myself against other killers/survivors (like the ranking system other games have e.g. bronze to regional top 500) and no incentive to grind through to rank 1. Please for the love of God make it harder and more meaningful to rank up and give us regional top 500 leaderboards for both killer and survivor.
    • Stuns. Stuns are horrifically unfun in every game I've ever played but are especially punishing in DBD and in red ranks it's either eat what feels like a minute's worth of stuns over the course of a match, or don't eat the stun, wasting time downing people who are in my face with their second chance perks just to let them get picked up (or pick themselves up) and then go screw around on a gen while I'm trying to pressure other gens and other survivors. Killer is incredibly stressful until the first survivor dies and these builds/this playstyle delays and prevents this to the point where outplaying people in the 1v1 doesn't even matter. The whole match is just stress. Crazy that the game is balanced for the 1v1 anyway when survivor split map pressure is what wins games anyway.

This is why I can't take dbd seriously or heavily invest myself into killer. No fun playing a game with only one incredibly stressful game mode where control of the match is firmly in the survivors hands from the start of the match and I feel like I'm not so much playing against the survivors as I am playing against their ridiculously forgiving perks. It's honestly the least fun Multiplayer gaming experience I've ever had.

I don't believe you. :) No, you didn't go from Rank-20 Killer to Rank-4 in less than a week. Is that possible? Sure. Does it happen often? No. Moreover, the stuff you are saying convinces me you are using hyperbole because you think saying you are a Red Rank somehow lends weight your rant. It doesn't. About the only thing you said that is true is that matchmaking is rubbish. For the record, I am a Red Rank Killer. Unlike yourself, I do not claim to be a savant. It took me a good long while to work myself up to Rank-1. Now I hold on to it, rarely having it shift further than Rank three before going back down. The reset, of course, hits us all. The games are certainly challenging in the Red Ranks, and you face a lot more SWF, but impossible they are not.

When I used to run DS all the time, I slowly realized that it didn't even come into play in many of my solo queue games. It could swing the match for you, or it could go completely unused. Nowadays I try to stick to perks that guarantee value every game (Kindred for example) and I feel like I'm a better player for it. Just my experience.

This, exactly. This guy said it better than me and in far fewer words.
