You'd have to been hooked recently in order to DS the killer. "Just DS him" doesn't work.

Of course I mean if you were being tunneled. Happens a lot.

  • Yeah this happened to me once last week.

Everyone had loaded in (or so I thought) and I actually opened a chest and bust a totem before the game suddenly DC'd for everyone. Killer hadn't even found the survivors yet.

    Crazy.

  • I actually agree, things feel a little more toxic lately. I think everyone's on edge because of the upcoming Nurse and Medkit nerfs, and are getting antsy with the Dedicated Servers.

  • @Marcus said:

A channel around 5 seconds for opening the hatch should be enough of a nerf, so the key user can't open the hatch mid chase, but keys would still be fairly strong.

This is a bit more reasonable. I don't like it because I would have to use the key instantly when I find the hatch and can't wait till the last moment, but it's reasonable.

The OP suggestion is to much of a hatchet job.

  • It's not a magical solution, but it doesn't have to be. It is enough to deal with the problem most of the time, and second keys aren't really that unbalanced.

I know your stance on it, I read the thread, but most games with keys really don't end that prematurely. You need to SWF to even get everyone in the hatch for the most part. And even then enough gens had to have been completed to allow it.

It can be annoying if you killed 1, 1 gen left and all 3 left, but it's not that big a deal. How often have you seen that anyway? It's not easy to pull off. More likely one guy is just gonna leave and you can kill the last two at your leisure.

If one guy is managing to escape with most gens still undone, just let him have it. You already won. You already killed three of them.

You want to talk about can't adjust perks? Survivors can't even see the killer in the lobby. How many times have I brought a healing loadout only to be matched against Plague? How many time I wished I brought Iron Will when I got a Spirit? Or Urban Evasion for Hag? Perk regret isn't a killer-only thing and believe me Survivors have it much worse.

50/50 Plunderer key fishing is false. Don't exaggerate. I should know, I run Plunder builds all the time.

Keys are strong, but they have more than enough counterplay. And while having Franklin's is nice, it isn't needed. You can counter keys even without a build. You just need to tunnel the keybearer. Many survivors won't even notice and won't pick up the key at the hook.

  • Out of curiousity, what does your Slugged Build look like?

  • @WolfPad06 said:

Nurse needed some counterplay to her, that's for sure.

I just personally don't like the way BHVR went about it. Power bars and cooldown are just nor FUN to use, no matter how little they actually matter.

Not being able to use your power whenever you want/need is frustrating as killer. I would've rather they do something that increases her difficulty of use or makes her tracking harder after blinking. Something like darker vision while fatigue or scratchmarks dissapearing when you get fatigue.

All in all this rework isn't gonna make her have more counterplay if people use the blink recharge add-ons (which most will), and it will also not make her more lethal, difficult or more fun to play either for killer.

The base kit changes were poorly executed and unoriginal as all heck, I hope they do not come through and maybe in the future they think of a better way to give nurse counterplay.

I tend to agree. This would have been a more elegant way to do the nerf.

  • It's really hit and miss. But you'll get it eventually. I like to run No Mither/Resilience/SpineChill builds when doing this daily.

I'd even run Wakeup if I had it.

  • Speaking of Survivors dailes, a miracle!!!

I got TWO survivor dailies today!

And that I think shows the problem with the daily ritual bug.

Actually I canned a killer daily and got a "Coop 180 seconds" Survivor daily. Great. Then I closed the screen,t hen opened it up again. And as expected it changed by itself. BHVR really needs to fix that.

Luckily it changed into another Survivor daily this time; first time it happened in like two months. That's how bad it is for me, I get nothing but Killer dailies.

But it just had to be an "Open Exit Gate" daily lol.

    image.png

  • The "let the guy die" strategy is a necessary tactic that evolved because the 3rd-slug thing is happening. Basically, you have next-to-zero chance of completing gens when there's only 2 of you left.

There's not enough time for survivors to finish gens with only one person running the killer around, unless there's just only one gen left or unless one of the survivors is a god of looping.

If there're 2 gens left and 2 survivors, it's better to look for the hatch, and one person makes the sacrifice to let the other go. It's almost impossible for both to live at this point unless you have a key (and even then it's hard to coordinate it outside of SWF).

Killers realized this so they started doing the 3rd-slug strat.

And in response to that survivors learned to let them bleed out and then make a run for the hatch.

All is fair in love and war.

  • Well the good thing is you can now use Borrowed Time unlimited times to save people this way so you don't have to feel bad about farming them.

I was a newb at this time and didn't really use Borrowed Time and I was definitely going for risky saves back then.

  • LOL don't you hate it when you pack Tenacity and Unbreakable, but the killer won't leave you on the ground?

  • Haha yes! I only got it obviously because I'm a survivor main. And this was also the time when I was always running WGLF for bloodpoints, because you know that's the only way Survivors can earn decent BP. So I was unhooking people as David over and over, probably got tons of protection hits that way.

I got that one when it was bugged, If memory serves you'd get the achievement either when you 4k a team, or you get it when only 1 escapes through the hatch. I don't know why it was like that for awhile, I just got it randomly by playing a regular match so it was weird.

This was changed for the current build of the game, but back than the Killer would get the achievement when that achievement is entirely for Survivors lol...

LOL that was a thing? Hilarious.

BTW I just checked my achievements. I got Taking One for the Team a long time ago... apparently 6 months after I started playing. I guess that shows that I'm a Survivor Main through and through and I really do take one for the team.

I got it without even knowing about it lol.

"With the Ghostface, while leaning, Mark 3 Survivor(s) to apply the Exposed status effect. Hit the marked Survivor(s)"

I hate that one. I usually trash that. It might not be so bad if it didn't require leaning, but it does.

I also hate the gate-opening dailies. The moment I get one, opening a gate becomes impossible. It'd be nice if when you gesture crazily at a survivor they'd at least let you get the last millisecond of opening the exit gate, but no, they never do. Never.

I've had a nice survivor give me the open once or twice. They know what you're after when you do that. I've given the exit gate to a teammate many times because I know what they're going through. I 99% it though so I get the BP. :)

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

    open gate dailys

I agree with this one, I camp the exit gates when there's one gen left just to do these dailies. (apologies to my team for being deadweight at the critical juncture)

It's probably the hardest survivor daily to do. Even Relic Veneration is easier.

  • Oh, I know what you mean Mage. What's even more annoying is this month, I got a grand total of 2 Survivor Dailies.

And when I tried to do them, after the match they turned into Killer dailies! (no reroll). They just change by themselves. It's so infuriating. It triggers me and I don't get triggered by any of the nonsense killers say or do to me (just got hit by an Insidious Leatherface last night, was good for a laugh even though I spent the entire match in the basement staring at Leatherface's ugly mug).

As for BP rerolling, it sounds kind of dumb to use bloodpoints to roll for a daily that gives blood points. But honestly I'd like that mechanic, I mean the dailies are supposed to be there as a fun "quest" for you to do. I do dailies because it's fun to tick off the quest list. I don't actually need the BP, I just want to do dailies as a fun in-game mechanic.

It's sad that I'm denied even that.

I would do killer dailies, but queuing up for killer lobbies takes forever these days and I just rather play 2 games of survivor instead of lining up (not even playing) for a killer lobby. In the past I used to do Myers dailies (stalk survivors) for fun and I usually scare people and grab them off gens, then let them all go at the end. But it takes too long to queue for a killer game these days so I don't bother.

  • That does sound problematic! Thanks for the cliffnotes version.

There's only one achievement I really tried to do. The "Where did they go?" achievement, and let me tell you, it was hell trying to get that one because I don't SWF.

but..but..she got me ;-; I could not loop her for 5 gens 😭

Wow, such salt. Just because the most powerful killer in the game has been given a nerf is no reason to turn into a puddle of bitter saltwater.

I also like hoarding things, but no one is using left behind with them.

Dang! Guess my build is never gonna be popular!

  • I struggle to find dailies.

I haven't had a Survivor daily in more than a month. I don't do dailies anymore as a result.

  • Holy crap I came in here looking to see how to get the achievement (I'm clueless about achievements) and got smack on the face with a boatload of TLDR.

I am sorry for cluttering up your well-though post with a nonsense post but I just had to react.

  • I can assure you keys are not any more common in the bloodwebs.

People are probably just busting them out for some reason. Maybe they've been following my builds? LOL.

I actually hoard my keys and don't really use them that much. I think I have 60 keys on Feng and a smattering more on other survivors. But I use key-fishing builds.

Perhaps the reason for the rise is the buff to Left Behind. I know that my Plunder Build now uses Left Behind as a staple.

  • Fair enough. With the pink bar and the pink coil thing trapper can auto injure without doing a thing, but we can say it's at least still the Trapper's power. And since that's two URs it's not really something to complain about since it's very rare to go up against that kind of build.

But anyway I still agree with what Dreamnomad said that Survivors shouldn't get injured without interaction from the killer. Trapper's pink trap build is an exception (or not) but for a perk any killer can just use all the time it would be bad.

People like to tell me you can counter BBQ just by hopping in a locker.

With how omnipresent BBQ is survivor's have already been conditioned to jump in lockers when they don't want to be detected. Now imagine Iron Maiden injuring them for that? It's too much.

When Legion came out BBQ + Iron Maiden was already being run by some nasty killers looking to entrap survivors in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. This combo would become utterly oppressive if allowed to happen.

are you sure you weren't just playing against inexperienced survivors? it's extremely difficult to manage this, especially since nurse's base movement speed is slower than a running survivor.

well I got 4k on my first match as a killer with nurse I chased the survivors WITHOUT BLINKING yet I got 4k is...is nurse op?

I don't know, you tell me.

But if you're not blinking as Nurse you're not a very good player.

I know Nurse is strong and she deserves her change, but keep in mind, you can prove anything with low ranked survivors. That's all I was trying to say! 🤗

    Fair enough.

  • Slow Chain/Jump Rope Freddy is many times worse than 3-Gen Doc, because Freddy is actually a dangerous killer. Doc is more annoying than dangerous.

Freddy is both, especially with the Blood Pallet thing which can end a chase easy. Coupled with his teleportation power Freddy is a really powerful killer and makes defending the already super-slow gens really easy.

Not unbeatable, but strong, and more than anything annoying to go against.

  • Farewell, see you soon, we know you'll be back.

  • I have been using tons of keys since EGC, it'st he best counter to the EGC patch.

I also use Plunder key fishing builds all the time, because again it's a great way to counter EGC. It's also a great way to counter Ebony Moris, and I am going up against a ton of those.

"on my very first match as killer"

So rank 20? Bye mate, we are talking about multiple thousands of hours survivor mains with legacy in a swf groups and voice chat sweating and not your casual match with some baby Dwight.

That's just you being bad. I have seen Killer streamers owning 4K with Nurse perkless and add-onless at the highest levels against red rank SWF groups that make gens bust in the first minute. And they do it game after game after game over and over.

Come on, just because you're not good at nurse doesn't mean she's weak.

Nobody here is going to fall for that kind of reasoning. We all know how strong nurse is.

  • @NMCKE said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/782971#Comment_782971

First nurse game with a 4K? I doubt it was her being easy and more of the survivors you was facing are just inexperienced.

It takes at least a few dozen of hours to master her, and less time with old addons. :)

Well obviously, it was my first killer game, so I was at Rank 20 fighting similar rank survivors. Took 2 out early and finished the last two with a 3-gen strategy. And it's not Nurse being easy. It's Nurse being strong. Which she is.

It's also important to note that while I was a newb killer, I wasn't exactly a newb player because I had been playing Survivor for a few weeks by then, so I knew some survivor tricks. I am no master at Nurse, I'm not even a good killer. But Nurse is strong, and its honestly hilarious there are people now toeing the line trying to downplay Nurse and say she isn't strong.

I mean, what the heck people?

Ok yes you're right to an extent, I agree. But it really doesn't help vs many survivors with multiple keys and I hate the perk argument. Nobody should suggest any perk for this kind of op stuff, even towards survs.

I see everyone suggesting Iron Will to survivors to counter Spirit, so you know, it's fair game.

If anything I'd love to see Franklin's removed from the game. There aren't many perks more annoying than Franklin's. Nothing like bringing in a nice item and losing it or having it rendered unusable thanks to Franklin's.

Imagine if Survivors had a perk that let them disable a killer's add-ons.

And to those who say Franklin's is not a way to break the key...

Well yes, Franklin's may not break the key. But in many cases it's as good as gone, and oftentimes you forget where you got hit in the heat of the chase. The key is ridiculously hard to find, and many times even knowing where I got hit it's a challenge to find it. You can waste a lot of time searching for it.

It's a strong counter to any item and it's more than enough counter play for the key, and there are other ways to counterplay against the key. I should know, I bring keys a lot and I get tunneled the crap out for it. Killers just need to be attentive in the lobby, that's what you have the lobby for right?

And you can notice survivors carrying keys in the game if they fished it out of a chest. I have noticed fellow survivors with the key at times and was surprised because they didn't have it in the lobby.

I just find this talk of breaking survivor items hilarious, I mean what if we could break Trapper's traps and they don't regenerate? This tips the game way too much in favor of killers again. Keys are the last good item Survivors have left that haven't been put through the nerf bat wringer.

And all this while Ebony Moris are still 100% unchallenged? Sorry, but I gotta take a stand.

You need to update your copy paste

I don't follow? What are you saying?

  • "Nurse isn't even that strong"

Oh wow, really, wow. How can anyone be playing this game and think this? On my very first match as killer I played Nurse and got an easy 4K. No perks and no add-ons. That was about a year ago and survivors were a lot stronger back then.

And how are you playing basekit nurse when you are using up all her stuff? If you are using up all your add-ons surely you aren't playing basekit nurse.

  • I wouldn't know, as there is no way to tell if someone reports you or not.

  • I feel for you, but the devs can't control how many survivor players are in the game, other than making sure playing Survivor isn't a pain in the butt (which it is).

They're not helping the situation by continuously nerfing survivors over and over, so less and less people are playing Survivor these days.

  • The change wasn't reverted. There just weren't any other survivors for you to play with at the time.

  • How did you ask him about the DC when he's DC'd?

  • Not saying he's a newb, but a red rank killer is generally better than a green rank killer. He's in green for a reason, though agreed that might simply be because he doesn't play much.

But again, he's not running the slow-stacking build which is what really ticks people off.

  • Don't worry, I only arm myself against those that do!

  • I wish more people would steal chases from me. I hate being chased.

You have 100% my approval to steal chases from me. Come at me!!!

You are very much right about the problem with keys, but I think that your suggestion is a biiiiiit too heavyhanded?

How would you feel if the Killer had the ability to break a Key?

They already do. It's called Franklin's Demise.

Then just remove the exposed status effect it aint useful anyway if it injured people who go into lockers it be a great perk to go with bbq and chile

Yes, it'd be a great perk. For Killers.

Survivors would never use lockers again. Such an overpowered perk would quickly become meta and BHVR basically just deleted lockers.

Imagine a perk that auto-stuns the killer anytime he vaults a window? That's how crazy stupid a perk that injures you when you enter a locker is.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

Because survivors shouldn't get injured unless a killer actually does something to them. I don't think there are any exceptions to this rule. The closest argument you could make is The Plague's infection spreading. But that is the result of the action of the killer indirectly.

There's one exception: Trapper and his pink bar thing.

  • It's also very common to see it on Yamaoka.

  • Nobody is saying Freddy with Swing Chains is unbeatable. I've beaten them before.

But you weren't even going up against a high rank one and he wasn't even stacking Thana, Dying Light, Ruin and Pop.

When you go up against one of those you just want to tear your hair out.

  • Thank your lucky stars you never went up against old Freddy.

I would dare to say that this would take a lot of the strategy out of the game. Having generators take the time that they do adds points of contention on the map. I can hook a survivor near a generator that I know is almost done to keep pressure on it and stop it from going off while and keep an eye on the hooked survivor as well. If there's more generators and they take half as long, that strategy goes out the window. They can just switch to a different generator and get it done in no time anyway.

Fewer generators also means fewer places to check. If I have to check double the generators and a couple have a little bit of progress on them, finding survivors is going to be way harder.

How about 10 gens 75% speed.

  • Gen speed should be reduced in half. But 10 gens should be required to light the exit gates and there should be 12 generators total on the map.

1 … 7 8 9 10 11 … 52
