  • Hey that sounds like me! True story.

  • If you want to counter the 3-Slug strategy here is the build for you:

    • Plunderer's Instinct
    • Left Behind
    • Unbreakable
    • Decisive Strike

Fish for a key with Plunderer, then play the game normally. If you get a key, great. If not, no worries can still win. Be cautious you want to be the 3rd man down. When you two are dead and only two of you left, let the killer catch you.

If he tries to hook you, DS him and run the hell away and hide.

If he leaves you be, recover up to 99% and wait for him to catch the last guy, when he catches him and hooks him, stand up and hide in a locker if the guy is still alive. Once he is dead, look for the hatch. You have a good chance of finding it before the killer thanks to Left Behind. If you got a key, you've pretty much won and will only lose if you screw up.

i recently played a legacy 3 Nea, downed in 20 sec and suicided. Skins have nothing to do with skill

I think it is more "Skill has nothing to do with luck."

You can make your own luck to an extent, but at the end of the day you can be the best survivor in the world in this game, but make one mistake due to bad luck (got caught in a bad spot in the map) and you go down and die.

It happens as Survivor, this game is very swingy.

  • Not sure, I don't play killer in enough succession to get a bad string of games. But if I did... I'd play Dwight. And stop playing Killer.

  • Dem's fighting words to the PC Master Race!

  • I have like a thousand hours in the game playing solo survivor.

Survivor is tons of fun dude. Yeah, you're weaker than the killer. Yeah, you have to rely on your teammates. Yeah, the perks are pretty crappy compared to killer. You get nerfed left and right every patch. And you barely get any bloodpoints.

But it's just so much fun to run around hiding from the killer and trying to steal gens. Or doing dumbass builds and pulling it off. This game genre is awesome sauce, until a viable alternative comes up I won't be stopping this game anytime soon.

Overall I'd say killer is more stressful. Mainly because you want to do well. If you don't it's on you.

On the flip side I'd say survivor is more frustrating. You try to play a normal game and get a killer who camps, tunnels, and goes all out with perks and addons. Or get paired with idiot teammates who do nothing. I'm not a great survivor. Hell I'm not sure I'd even say I'm a good one. But I look like Puppers next to some of the knuckleheads I get paired with.

This is actually probably the most accurate depiction of how the two sides are in this matter.

  • Spirit's fine. I think she's strong and yes she's annoying to go against, but not really that bad.

Would I complain if they nerfed her a bit? Hell no. Would be welcome, a nice thing, but not necessary.

  • How are 360s a thing on PC in your games? Does not compute. 360s don't work on PC except against the most incompetent killers.

As for depipping. Sure, it probably happens. Killers depip a hell of a lot more than survivors do on PC, though. I run into a depipping killer maybe 5 times a night. Free BP. Don't need it though. I have never run into a depipping survivor, other than those that just flat out DC when they get downed (now that's very common).

Or it could be they are just long term players that play every now and then and not many hours a night. But they've been playing for thousands of hours and have everything and know how to play. But they don't play much so they're just at Rank 14ish.

When did I dictate when nerfs happen? I said because nurse was nerfed doesnt mean spirit deserves one, I made the post because I'm tired of only seeing nerf spirit and never why, there multiple ways to know if Shes phasing, and survivors that just dc and say nerf are the people I was mainly targeting in that, In so many posts i see ideas for nerfs but they arent really thought through, if spirit had no collision during phase bodyblocking against her would be non existent because a survivor stayed too close in a loop a few times.

Survivors have been asking for spirit nerfs for a long time. It didn't happen just because Nurse got nerfed. Survivors were also asking for nerfs for Nurse for a long time. Longer actually.

Since Nurse finally gets nerfed that's a sign of hope that Spirit might also get nerfed. Nurse always felt like some kind of sacrosanct institution that the devs would never touch, which was a little wild. Now that she's getting nerfed, it opens the possiblity that spirit may also get nerfed later on.

People have given reasons for nerfing Spirit for a long time. Yes there are counter arguments, you gave them, but like I said. You are now even giving specific things you don't want nerfed, like body blocking.

You are expressing your opinion. And that's fine. We are all entitled to what we want to say and see in the game.

That includes survivors. They are also entitled to call for whatever nerfs they feel is justified. You don't get to censor them. That's what I'm saying.

  • "Therefore killers begin the game with a huge amount of stress, and have to alleviate that by completing objectives, whereas survivors can become stressed, but only by the actions of the killer."

Killers are also stressed only by the actions of the killer. Not sure why you are making that distinction.

Killers start out mroe stressed because there are more survivors and more locations to patrol at the start of the game. Survivors likewise have an easier time at the start because there are more places to go to do do their objectives, and they still have 3 teammates alive.

As gens are completed the game gets harder and harder for survivors, and as teammates get hooked and die the same happens.

Both sides are afflicted stress by things the other side does.

I said quit complaining about spirit, never once did I say dont complain about anything, my point was to all the people that say "nurse got nerfed so spirit needs to as well" and personally I dont mind the meta perks themselves, I mind when survivors use them and call me unoriginal and lame for playing her. And as for keys, I think keys and moris should be changed as to not give easy kills or escapes with no skill or effort other than doing your objective and getting rewarded heavily because you put on an item.

Well, sounds like you just don't want the killer you play nerfed. reasonable enough. But everyone has to deal with all sorts of nerfs that severely affect their playstyles.

Why are you allowed to dictate what gets nerfed and what doesn't?

We can ask for nerfs for whatever we want. You can say this is entitlement, but your request to not nerf spirit is entitlement as well.

  • So you are saying Survivors don't have a right to complain about things. Fair enough.

Do note that Killers also do not have a right to complain about things. Please do not complain about keys, instaheals, Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time, Adrenaline, toolkits, palettes, windows, vaults, P3 Claudette, running the killer around, and doing gens.

  • I want a "Newly Wed" perk.

Gives you 100% change to get a Broken Key with a Wedding Ring in the first chest you loot. All Altruistic Actions towards the Obsession gain a 50/75/100% speed boost.

  • I think the level of stress for killer goes up with how seriously you are taking the game.

When I play killer I don't take it seriously. So I don't get stressed at all. I feel like I'm just messing around.

When I play survivor, I usually don't take it seriously either so I do't get too stressed. Sometimes though I get into it and get serious, and that's when I started losing my cool.

As a general rule, if you are maining one side over the other I think you take that side more seriously. So a Survivor Main is more likely to take playing survivor seriously, while a Killer Main is more likely to take playing killer seriously. And the ensuing stress reflects that.

  • If you got the killer stun, the pallet hit. The killer should have been stunned. He might have Enduring and Spirit Fury or something so it looks like he wasn't stunned much.

If you time it wrong the teammate won't be dropped -- you have to wait until after the pickup animation is done or it won't work. You have to wait the right amount of time before the killer will be stunned to drop the victim. If you do it too early nothing happens. I'm thinking server lag resulted in you misjudging the timing. Happens a lot with things that are very timing-sensitive in this game, like lunges over windows and corners.

  • I will always propose my idea of the Killer collecting Blood samples from the ground and fingerprints/DNA from gens a survivor worked, and then putting them in a voodoo doll in a shrine in the basement. If the doll isn't destroyed the survivor will get teleported to the basement and hook and die when he goes out the exit gates.

  • Just finished another match with Plague. This time it was a Rank 10 and not a Red Rank Plague, matchmaking is wonky like that. We cleansed like crazy again on Grim Pantry. All four got away. Not gonna allow Thanatophobia and Dying Light to put us down.

I was the Obsession and I fished and Engi toolkit and I powered my way through the gens as Dying Light wasn't affecting me.

Cleansing is a valid strategy people. Especially with the current meta where Plague is stacking Dying Light and Thanatophobia, I'd say it's the correct play instead of going broken the entire match.

I was probably in an SWF though judging by the user names of the 3 I was with. This Plague looks like she was still a little new so that plus going against an SWF probably counted a lot for how she was outplayed.

  • Keys are extremely situational, but very powerful and can save you from certain death.

The keys have very specific requirements to use, tied to how many survivors are still alive and how many gens are done. This is a clear restriction for their use and is perfectly balanced. After meeting the requirement you still need to find the hatch without getting killed.

It's a great item in my opinion, I don't really get why so many killers are against it. I get that they can feel cheated out of that 4K they thought was a sure clincher, but I blame EGC on that. Nobody asked for EGC but killers wanted to be able to close the hatch, feeling it's a sure win if they do. Keys "steal" that sure win from them and it leaves a lot of killers salty.

But really, they're fine and are balanced.

  • @TheGorgon said:

Can we just do something like in Friday the 13th? As a second (random) option or objetive, you need to get a series of things to kill the killer.

How about, if you cannibalize the pallets and windows for mats you can build a weapon to kill the killer with. But you need to break all your defenses to do it.

  • Survivors will always be more relaxed.

That's because this game is a 4v1. Having teammates is a big deal. It takes off a lot of mental pressure and you can goof off and a teammate can pick up the slack.

The killer is the power role, but with great power comes great responsibility. You, and you alone, are entirely responsible for your success or failure. If you slack off, you'll probably lose. So you keep telling yourself you can't slack off and need to get to work.

Now make no mistake. Both roles can be very stressful. Or both can be cakewalks. It all depends on how good the other players are. I've breezed through many killer matches and I've breezed through many survivor matches. I've also been highly-stressed as a survivor knowing there is no hope, we're all gonna die, nothing I do can change that fate, and sat on the hook wondering if my idiot teammates are ever going to find a moment to pry themselves from the dark corner they're hiding in to help me. I feel helpless and powerless.

That is normal. I'd like to say I've felt the same as a killer, but sadly that's never happened to me, life as a killer in the low ranks is paradise. But life as a survivor can be stressful no matter what rank you're in, especially if you're solo.

But that doesn't change that the inherent asymmetric mechanic of the game means more burden of action and responsibility is placed on the killer. Always.

  • @Mister_xD said:

    depends.

doing such a thing you mentioned is fine you certainly wont get banned for this.

however, as all things, if its done excessively it can end up being bannable.

if you were to take 3 friends with you and all of you do nothing but hide, this would be reportable as taking the game hostage, as the killer would have a very hard time finding you and the game would never progress.

or if you sabotage the team by not doing gens on purpose just to have them killed would fall under the category of trolling. this might be hard to prove and therefore you wont be banned, though if one gets his hands on solid proof of you doing such things it could lead to a ban.

Nonsense. Not doing gens to get others killed is bannable? Hardly.

If I pack Left Behind and a Key and my strategy is to hide all game until my three meatshields are dead so I can get out the hatch, I am well within my rights to do so. Jerk move, but it is legit.

  • I start every game looting chests. I loot all of them before I even start doing any gens. I am perfectly within my rights, thank you.

    • This only applies when I am running Santa Claus builds

  • As always people are just going on about how Plague is terrible if Survivors don't cleanse.

Yesterday I played a game against a Thano/Dying Light/PGTW Rank 4 Plague and guess what? We all cleansed the crap out of that game. You want to slow down our gen speed to a snail's pace? Not happening. We finished the gens before anyone died. She was able to hook us 6 times total and got some 3 or 4 stacks of Dying Light but we used the extra hit during chase to prolong them and not having to worry about Thanatophobia that much let us power through the gens.

Two people died in the end to NoEd because I skipped on three totems (I found them but opted to rush the gens because they were taking forever with the slowdowns). (EDIT _- no wait I'm getting my games mixed up. The three NoEd totems was during a Ghostface game. Plague didn't have NoEd I think she had Ruin and we all escaped on that Plague game I think).

Plague is not necessarily stronger if survivors cleanse. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Depends on how the game goes and how good the players are.

Plague is a good killer. She is an annoying killer to go up against. You need to be really smart to go against her, but also need to be smart playing her. The Plague yesterday probably wasn't expecting us to cleanse left and right. We were cleansing so much we ran out of fountains to cleanse. Everywhere I look it's just red glowing puke. She probably didn't expect that and couldn't adjust her game accordingly. It also helped that it was Torment Creek, that map gives lots of dodging LOS blocker trees to help against Plague.

“All sort of problems where the Killer would never be able to find you” are countered by not slugging.

Killer should not slug if they aren't equipped to slug. If they can't find you after they choose to slug that's their own fault. Sure you might not escape, but if it were me I'd take my chances thank you. I'd take that over the killer getting a free pass to find me, when I specifcally took a perk to conceal my noise.

This is why BBQ is so powerful... it allows killers to slug with abandon, among all its other uses.

Iron Will should definitely work while down. I mean you're dying why are you noisy.

  • Pop is in the Shrine. Get it.

  • @PGJSF said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/83045/self-care-is-not-a-good-perk

If you play solo you just can’t afford to be injured while doing gens without any information at all. Medkits aren’t endless.

Medkits will heal you once, twice or thrice with the better ones and addons. That's more than enough for a game.

If you are getting injured and need to heal more than twice you are probably not going to win, unless you've been taking protection hits (which generally speaking aren't a good idea anyway).

And if you are getting injured and healing thrice, four times or more in a game with Self Care then you are just SCREWING YOUR TEAM OVER. That's not even counting Sloppy Butcher.

Imagine healing four or more times in a game with Self Care and Sloppy Butcher? That is like 3 minutes of you doing nothing but hiding in a corner. That's half the game of you being worthless. You're just handing the keys to the kingdom to the killer.

  • @palotheas said:

Maybe somebody with distortion was healing them? That's all I can think of. If we're thinking about cheats as a possibility, is there a hack to block your aura as survivor?

Nobody had distortion, I checked the builds.

  • It is a party game.

It looks competitive because of the ranking system, but as we all know the ranking system doesn't really work well. As you said, the game has imbalance and design flaws which mean it isn't really a serious, competitive game.

  • Nobody play a perfect game all the time. NOBODY.

Let's not pretend that most people are able to always win in this game. That is simply not true. You win some, you lose some.

Only the pros (the pro streamers) and some other exceptional people will reach that level of consistency, and I'm sure even they have their bad days, especially when they go up against people of similar uber skill level.

  • The bad part of Inner Strength is it tempts you to leave totems alone after you banked one. That's what I do and sometimes, just sometimes, it bites me in the butt when the killer can't catch me and I end up not needing to use the IS bank. I end up genrushing and boom! NoEd.

It's an annoyance no matter how you look at it. Much like Mr. toxic over here (Mochan) you're trying to justify toxic behavior by "don't let it get to you, hurrlul people who are annoyed by it are children" etc. Whatever, both of you keep being the reason why this community is horrible.

Have you looked in the mirror yourself lately?

  • Things actually get worse at red ranks IMO. Killers tend to be ultra sweaty in these ranks. And survivors teammates tend to be dicks and will rag on you if you don't play optimally or run silly builds.

Also at this rank games tend to be shorter (around 5 mins each) and tend to be stomps one way or the other.

  • @StarMoral said:

People often forget Self Care boosts Medkit efficiency by a lot. 20% may not sound like much, but when you're able to get three heals with one box and no charge addons and STILL have the ability to heal yourself, it can really help.

This is actually the main thing I use Selfcare for. I stack it with Botany and a Medkit so I can heal myself fast.

But I don't do it much anymore because Inner strength is better and frees up a perk slot and item slot.

  • Ahhh!

    Now it makes sense!

Dang. That means there's a use for No Mither! Throw in D.Strike and you can keep the Killer paranoid enough to buy you time to get up! :D

There's one more perk required to complete the setup. Tenacity.

Hopefully killers will stop getting the short end of the stick then, so lower tier killers can be actually playable. I don't care for surv nerfs, gen times, anything. I just want more bearable killers.

Killers don't get the short end of the stick. That's just Killer Victimhood Complex talking.

Objectively speaking Killers have gotten far more buffs and Survivors have gotten far more nerfs.

It helps to be fearless and constantly doing something that generates points.

Dying is part of the deal many times, but you can help your team a great deal by staying until sacrificed.

    This.

Don't be suicidal though unless you want to do those kind of YOLO plays. If you need to be careful to avoid detection, be careful.

Staying alive and undetected is still more valuable than being caught and hooked or killed. If you feel the danger is too great, don't do crazy risky plays unless you know you can handle it.

Also there is no shame in playing a little more cautiously when you are dead on hook and injured. But that is not a license to just cower in a corner and hide. I mean, you can do that, but please don't. Unless there's a strategy to it: like you have a key and left behind.

My current build is like that (Fish for keys and escape) but even then I don't take the scummy way and hide. You could, it's understandable, but even then try to be as productive as you possibly can, especially if you want to pip. Key escapes don't usually pip unless you were productive the entire match.

in general they need to do something about noise spam.

flashlight clicks arent that bad, you can get away from them very easily after all, however someone jumping in and out of a locker repeatedly is nothing you can just ignore, its always this annoying explosion on your screen that makes it freakin hard to concentrate on the chase you are currently in.

thats just annoying and nothing else - and needs to be reworked.

Isn't that working as intended, though? You are supposed to drop palettes as a distraction, as evidenced by the tooltips.

Though I do agree perhaps infinite spamming of a locker needs to be addressed, similar to window vaults. I wouldn't mind seeing an entity block on a locker spammed 3 times in quick succession.
