I don't know what this overreacting and "she doesn't need buff" claims. She definately needs movement speed and wind-up buffs, maybe not more hatchets. I don't know how it possible to think she is in the good state, when Nemi, Alien and Chucky exists, who put way less effort to land a hit.

Nemesis? This guy need to hit 3 times. And his add-ons are terrible bad. Also his range is pretty short.

Xeno? Really? He is just better version of Nemesis with even shorter range.

I don't even know why Chucky is here. He is not range killer, he is dash based killer. So he is not sharing anything common with Huntress.

  • And another funny thing, they buffed strong killers aka Blight and Huntress. I guess Pig was so op.

  • They just can't stop to buff Blight.

Someone really need to tell them that: Blight is strong killer, even without add-ons. He does not need any good add-on.

Now i am pretty sure upcoming update will give him some buffs since they nerfed his add-ons, so he should not feel weak 🤣

  • Maybe show locker auras to her whenever she out of hatches? But yeah, i don't know why they decided to buff fairly strong killer.

  • Nah, it needed. They nerfed healing and medkits to ground. Anti-heal needed some justice nerfs, yes? It's easy and free slowdown after all. Hitting survivors is your job, why game should give you free slowdown for this

  • @radiantHero23 said:

    Pig is nerfed....

This nerf is needed, Pigs was abusing scream build for trap kills.

But however, buffs to justice this nerf is so bad. They should buff her stealth more. And i am still not sure if her anti-loop is good enough.

  • Hag is still boring killer, those changes sounds nice but she is still not the killer i will enjoy.

But i am glad Hag mains loved it.

  • I am honestly excited for him. I love to play this fat guy but now this buff will make him even more enjoyable. But i agree with you, her irri add-on will be problem.

I think they should make same as Huntress's irri, limit it with only 1 no matter what.

  • If they don't want your money, just don't buy. Eventually they will notice they are no longer getting money from Turkey and other MENA countries. And hopefully they will reduce prices to reasonable level.

  • I will only get Kate, Mikaela and Zarina shirts. Killer costumes are cool for sure but i am not playing any of those killers. So there is no reason for me to buy them.

  • I am not excited too much.

Because even killer is fun, it still will be same DbD we have, core mechanics are same.

Killer and survivor will get new garbage perks nobody will use. So there is no reason to be hyped for me.

While that is true I think it's fair to mention that it would at least stop hook suicides on impuls. We all know that feeling when something happens that frustrates us and we're like: "I'm done with this stupid game!" But then a second later you calm down and play like normal.

So it might improve the situation at least slightly.

    Maybe.

But i still don't think this will improve the game. If someone is not playing and progressing the game, it's just game over for rest of team. So for me, finishing game as fast as possible is better, so we all can move on to next match.

Also killers like SM exists which hated most of people.

  • I mean what you are really expecting if you keep those players in game?

They will run to killer and die anyway. Or they will play hide and seek for hatch and leave all team to die.

You can't really expect from them to progress game if they don't wanna part of it.

  • Jill because i am RE fan and she is my fav character.

Kate, Mikaela and Zarina because they are good looking female survivors.

  • After healing and medkits nerfed to ground, this effect can't stay as it is. Some changes needed.

even tens of thousands matches doesn't really come close to the amount of matches per day...hundreds of thousands might be better but it's closer to a million or more

That's why individual data is subjective, one persons experience is not going to be the same as another persons.

We use data plus feedback, neither are used on their own when we make decisions.

The balance between escape rates and kill rates is carefully monitored - right now it's in a pretty good spot across the board, it doesn't mean that we're not making changes to certain things, the wonders of a Live game is that there will always be adjustment to things as you've been able to see on our Live roadmap, but I can definitely confirm we have no plans to move away from the 60/40 split, this is what we're aiming for.

So that's confirms SM will be looked again? For whatever reason, she is at 70%.

Low C. some very conclusive opinions.

Killing yourself on hook is different than killing yourself against spesific killer.

Sure, all killers are getting this and BHVR maybe not seeing this as problem. But if spesific killer is keep getting that, this means majority hates this killer and it need to be fixed.

And if i am not mistaken, BHVR said they are aware problems about SM.

DC's not being included won't make much of a difference. As someone DC'ing basically kills the other 3 survivors. Which are included in the stats

Nope they did not. When someone dc'es, those matches are not included in kill stats.

  • @BlackRose89 said:

Personally I don't think there anything the devs can do to change her reputation at this point. I don't even think a full rework will help and ppl will just continue to hate her. Even before we found out about her power and gameplay people hated her because she wasn't the cyborg killer they thought they was getting. People hated her visual design, going as far as calling her a fortnight character or sex bait (want to point out pretty much every thing is basically a fortnight character now of days lol) and people hated her lore as well. Things only got worse when we found out about her game play and the unhealthy strategy of 3 genning games for a hour.

They tried to rework her but this hasn't help SMs rep in the community. All people see now is a killer they always hated and rather go next instead of trying to learn her power and counter her. I honestly believe if the devs some how rework her to be the funniest killer to play against people would continue to hate her just because she is SM and that is it.

I mean who cares about how she looks or what is her lore. Most people, me included don't even read the lore.

People hates her gameplay. If that changes, her reputation will be fixed. Ths worked for Legion.

What would you see them doing with The Purge license though?

Chaos. Legion but multiple members are on map. Killer player can switch between them. Whenever player is not controlling, other members can chase survivors slowly, as like Nemesis zombies.

But i don't know what chase power they could have. Maybe trap based?

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3650427#Comment_3650427

Why shouldn't she get Haste? At that point, she only gets any chase power if survivors are gracious enough to let themselves get scanned 4+ times, that makes her substantially weaker for no reason at all. If we were to get rid of any element of her chase power - which people wanted her to have! - wouldn't it make more sense to replace the Hindered with something else? And if we're at that level, shouldn't we ask... why is it a problem for Skull Merchant to get Haste + Hindered, but not Clown, who gets a higher number for both on top of them being much, much easier + more consistent to apply?

Worth mentioning that if she's placing down drones she's resetting Bloodlust progress, also. She only gets Bloodlust if she already has the drones up in smart locations and chases survivors towards them, but at that point... isn't that just a killer playing well and being rewarded for their skill? Also, at that point, isn't that much more counterable, since the drones have to be left alone for a bit?

I do agree with hacking drones removing Lock On stacks, that's a good idea. That's one of the changes I think would be good to implement.

Clown is not forcing you leave to loop, he forces you to drop the pallet. And Clown still need to break pallet, SM does not. If you stay at loop, you will lose health state.

Simply Clown can't zone you, the only thing he can do is forcing you to drop pallet.

And Artist is also similar, she can zone you but she can't make survivor hindered or Artist won't get haste while forcing survivor leave the loop.

SM has both strategies in one kit.

  • @jesterkind said:

    Hopefully not much.

Considering the only problem with her now is something she shares in common with killers that aren't nearly as hated, I think it's pretty unlikely that any amount of changes would make the players who suicide against her happy. Consider the following question, and anyone who gives up against SM is encouraged to try and answer it honestly:

What version of Skull Merchant that they still don't like would be enough for them to be okay with it? What would a rework look like for the response to be "Okay, I don't like her, but she's acceptable now"?

She's received two ground-up reworks and a few more additional suites of changes. She has almost nothing in common with her original iteration or her most problematic iteration anymore. When is it enough? What is required for people to begrudgingly accept the existence of a killer they just don't like, learn the counterplay, and just play out matches like normal?

Some changes could and should be made, of course, I'm not arguing she's perfect. I'm just pointing out that the crux of the issue seems to be an irrational exaggeration of even the flaws that actually exist, intensified by leftover hate from when she was actually a problem.

For me, few changes will make her fine.

First, she should not get haste. That's so stupid, especially while she can also build bloodlust.

Second, there should be way to remove stacks if SM is not chasing you. There was idea to hacking drones will remove one stack, that's not bad idea actually.

I think i will be fine with her after few changes like that. Even she is another leave the loop killer.

It still includes hook suicides though. I can't tell you how many times survivors will run up to me as soon as they see what killer I picked so they can show me their favorite hook... At that point, it's a given that the game is over.

Yeah hook suicides are the biggest reason of her kill-rate. Even if other 3 survivors want to play, at this point game is over. There is no team can win game 3 v 1 at 5 gens.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/405420/what-will-happen-to-skull-merchant-your-thoughts

When you say DCs are not even included, what do you mean exactly? Matches where someone DC'd aren't included? Or Bot kills aren't included? Also source? I missed where that was stated.

Her issue is that she has a minor degree of slowdown/potency from working around her traps (so like Freddy, Sadako, Pig, Pinhead, she outperforms because the low to average players don't know or care about how to work around her power), and she also has anti loop similar to Clown, who is similarly disliked, but due to his lack of slowdown, there are few calls to delete him.

She is nowhere near 70% strong. My assumption is that her kill rate is effectively an organised protest from survivors suiciding on hook whenever they see her to inflate her numbers so that she gets nerf batted to oblivion. To me this looks like a similar hate campaign as what Freddy had back in the day, which resulted in his butchering much to the lament of players like @GeneralV. Survivors hated the character and review bombed the game to get the character they didn't want to learn against removed... even though mechanically Freddy was OK... even on the weaker side for people in the know.

I am hoping the community grows up a bit, and realises there are way more egregious things in DBD than Skull Merchant in her current form, and we don't get a killer (who is actually fairly pleasant to play) Freddied... but given she doesn't even have the license interest to protect her... I feel like her getting Freddied is quite likely.

That said as long as she keeps her scan based radars (I really like the modern stealth and active drone setup), you could take away ALL of her haste and hindered effects, which would gut her completely, but I'd still have fun just playing around the scans, radar and stealth. If that has to happen to stop the Survivor whining, I'll enjoy playing her in low MMR.

If BHVR did not change their data-system, they never included dcs in kill-rates. So let's say, 2 survivors dc'ed and bots replaced them. Killing them will not be in kill-rates.

Those stats seem to be mostly from before her rework? She can still 3-gen really well now but isn’t as grueling to face as before the changes.

I have to wonder if people aren’t blinded by a hate boner, cause this trend was a thing from the very moment she got her first ‘rework’.

Honestly i don't know. I never saw that much hate against any killer. Legion got similar issue, everyone were dc'ing against him. But after his problem solved, this ended.

Even Nurse is not getting that much dc/self sacrifice.

I just don't know what can fix her reputation. Full rework? Maybe. Billy'ing her and leaving her to die? I don't support that but i know a lot people wants that.

  • There was some posts, i think you just missed them.

While I agree we need DS back, I don't think we should have the exact old DS.

I'll even be more controversial and say we should get a basekit DS so we don't need to have so many anti-tunnel perks. The question is how to execute it without making it a weapon like old DS was to bully squads.

Make it strong but disable it if survivor is healed. Also they can rework OtR too, this perk is serving to nothing. DS should be anti-tunnel perk and it served pretty well.

I wonder why people are not combining it since one of the strong points of DS is the ability to use Dead Hard again. I wonder as much as the players who bring self-care by itself without Botani.

Because people don't want to use multiple anti-tunnel perks incase if killer tunnel them. People want to be free with whatever perks they want to use.

If DS was strong enough, people would use it and you would use other slots for whatever perks you want. And even if you don't bring DS, strong DS would scare killers like old times. Many times i jumped into locker and killer just eat bait and left for gens. Why? 5 seconds stun would give me good distance to strong loop and while i am doing that, gens will fly.

    We need DS back.

A guilty pleasure of mine is making the game difficult for the Killer.

Love the loadout. My David is the Survivor I use to run builds that make the Killer angry 😂

Those perks are doing terrible when killer want to tunnel. So i found different way to use them.

And yeah they are getting really mad. I am getting a lot kiss hits on hook.

  • It depends.

If they are good licenses, i am sure people would like to have them.

The Purge is one of the modern licenses and i'd have it in DbD.

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

So the difference between soloq high MMR and SWF high MMR is according to these stats is 39%-48.36%. This is 9.36% escape difference which is wild. This just confirms killers saying how SWF matches are significantly more difficult to win compare soloq matches.

After that, you look see that Bond and Kindred are 12% and 15% pick-rate with Window of opportunity being 32% pick-rate. If we add both common global aura reading perks, you get 27% pick-rate for bond & kindred collectively and 32% pick-rate. For soloq survivor, that means that 50% of their loadout is being used on aura-reading which for killer is blank perk slot while 4 man SWF does not need these perks. This is why I said that it would be greatly beneficial for survivor to see each other's aura entire trial so that soloq is not -2 perk slot every single game and does not have massive escape-rate discrepancy(from having -2 perk slots).

Many killer have asked for SWF to be nerfed, so only question is whether BVHR will nerf SWF or buff soloq to have easier platform to balance killer around.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3650049#Comment_3650049

how is it killer's problem if survivor self-suicides when they get hooked? That would make every single killer have high-kill rate.

But not all killers have this stats, yes?

And not all killers are getting self-suicides, yes?

Sure, you will see survivors are giving up against any killer but non of killers have that much rate, only SM.

If that much people are just refusing to play against her, maybe it's not the survivor issue here. Maybe it's just failed design?

  • And even that's the reason of her kill-rate, it just proves she needs another update. Because looks like BHVR did not address her problems.

People are not giving up against even strongest killer Nurse that much.

  • DCs are not counts in stats but yet, SM has 70% killrate. Crazy.

She is gonna get another update for sure.

Make topic about it and i will share my opinion

  • I mean that's happens to all popular killers tho.

Billy was rare killer before and people who was playing him was not super competive players. I mean why would you play weak killer if you want to sweat? They were just enjoying him because they loved him.

First of all, I don't think tunneling is a problem. This may be an unpopular opinion but the base kit bt plus movement speed bonus is enough to hurt a tunneling killer, if the others do gens(and I'm not talking about nurse, she's a special case) Of course the one getting tunneled is propably gonna die, but the killer is still gonna lose the game if they tunnel.

And yes it's true that the killers pressure increase over time with more generators being repaired, however if survivors do gens really efficiently(that means no chest opening, no unnecessary cleansing of dull totems) in theory three gens could pop within 90 seconds. That means the killer has maybe one, if they play well three hooks, compared to three gens being repaired at the same time. No amount of pressure from the killer side can make this game winable for the them (and yes I'm not including comp nurse players destroying solo queue when talking about this) Also three gening, the most popular late game strategy has been nerfed(which I fully support) So no, I still think those first three gens massivly hurt the killer if survivors play well

You did not answer my question.

So i will just copy paste for you.

"Alright, let's ignore all of this and let me ask this question: The nature of DbD is that, survivors are strong early game and weak at end game. Killers are opposite, they are weak at early game and strong late game.

That's because no survivor is on hook, in chase and all of them are on gens freely. But killer is hooking them, some pallets are removing from game, resources used and now killer is stronger.

So how survivors will able to win in this scenario? They will give hook states which means some of them will be dead hook. They lost early game pressure which means less gens finished. Also resources used, that means chases are faster now for killer. So they are no longer strong at early game but still weak at late game.

How this is sounds fair and balanced to you? Really curious."

You are asking nerf for early game of survivors without nerfing late game of killers. How that's sounds fair for you? And if you are believing tunnelling is fair, i have no words for you anyway.

  • I really want to know as well. I can't play my main survivor without lobby dodges and it's ending with bad matchmaking.

  • Nah, that's not good idea.

We don't need more slowdown on B to S tier killers. They are doing just fine.

And also, how this is only problem right now? Tunnelling is pretty much so strong and this is not problem for you? Or Nurse, who breaks all game rules is not problem?

Alright, let's ignore all of this and let me ask this question: The nature of DbD is that, survivors are strong early game and weak at end game. Killers are opposite, they are weak at early game and strong late game.

That's because no survivor is on hook, in chase and all of them are on gens freely. But killer is hooking them, some pallets are removing from game, resources used and now killer is stronger.

Killers were stronger back in 2018. Like yea, the weakest killers were all weaker than they are now, but there was actual power killers like Nurse and Spirit. Now every killer feels gimped, is loaded with cooldowns, and has mostly worthless addons. Modern dbd brought killers closer together, but weaker as a whole. The changes you listed were not helpful or impactful. Survivors still get too much distance after a hit.

I would trade the gen speed and tapping for old ruin and pop in a heartbeat.

They were not. You are just objectively wrong.

Killers felt stronger because there was no MMR, so you were going against teams who was much easier than your skills. Now MMR is giving you closer skilled survivors which means games are feeling harder.

But again, killers were not stronger. Old survivor meta was so busted. Now, strongest survivor perk is probably Spirint Burst which is not even close to old DH.

  • Overcharge, no. It's fine as it is.

CoB, yeah. This perk is dead. Since Eruption is limited use now, i don't see problem to buff this perk back to 200%.

  • Hardly disagree.

DS is not busted anymore. Dead Hard is dead perk. UB is not meta. Healing got big nerf. Most of maps got nerfs and ended with big dead zones. Iron Will nuked, so it's easier to track survivors as well.

Gen tapping removed and killer gen-kick buffed. We are getting pretty strong killers. Killers still have good anti-gen meta which helps to slowdown the game.

It's actually the best state of game for killers right now.

  • @Trollinmon said:

Killers tunnel because it is the best way to win. Even if you nerf tunneling, it will still be prominent if it continues to be the best way to win. SBMM made the game more sweaty, and players are going for wins rather than having fun like back in the day.

This is also why buffing DS is such a bad idea. It causes its own problems and if it doesn't make tunneling worse than the alternatives then killers will still be doing it.

How buffing DS is bad idea? Ofcourse it won't stop the tunneller killers but it will give chance to survivor to waste more of their times which is good value.

If we need another 6.1.0 we will get another 6.1.0 there was tunneling then and there is tunneling now, it wouldn't be any different since its changes for the sake of progress not gridlock because you don't like one current aspect.

How it would not make any different lol?

Is tunnelling same on Nurse and Trapper? No. Strong killers can tunnel easier. And anti-tunnel perks are barely doing anything against them.

If you buff all killers to this level, it will be same on all killers which is not healthy for the game.

And by stats, i doubt we need another 6.1.0. Since we know DS will be changed, most likely BHVR is also seeing problem here because how easy and free tunnelling is right now.

1 … 3 4 5 6 7 … 110
