  • The devs don't know how to manage the killer player base. That's the long story short.

Think back to the hex:ruin changes that 100% NEEDED to happen due to the trainwreck games at low ranks for new survivors. Then think of the collective nerd rage and influencers like Tru3 WHINING about 'poor killers'.

It's bad publicity, so the devs are stuck making changes that generally go in one direction: make killer easier.

The fact that this forum FAILS to even talk about swf vs soloQ, tells you all you need to know. Because soloQ is a trainwreck right now and this forum doesn't evolve beyond tribalistic killers vs survivors talking points.

  • @ItzPixelYT said:

It's only letting me Sabotage Normal hooks, what's the point in that? It's pretty much making some builds and items pointless to use lol

These changes only ever go in one direction.

Watch the forums nerd rage if survivors got something and killers missed out.

"Seriously, why are there so many genuinely unplayable things in this game? God pallets, god windows, infinites, mega unsafe pallets...." and campers, tunnelers, sluggers, moris, iri heads,....

Haha nice burn, and all you did was hold a mirror up.

Judging from his hotake, I wouldn't be surprised if the irony is lost on him.

     "JuSt BrEaK tHe WaLl"

Like seriously, poor killers have to break a wall? awww didums

  • lol this thread, soft killers complaining about an infinite that's not an infinite. It's a pseudo infinite AT BEST.

Do any of you complaining actually KNOW what the infinites were like at release.

    lol just lol.

    Build a bridge.

  • @Raz_ said:

Survivors are not allowed to use DS, unbreakable, OoO etc

but I AM allowed to use insta downs, moris, every single strong perk possible and the reasoning is "im the power role"

so you tell me.. ME who has to deal with

    -potatoe teammates

    -Dedicated servers, hitboxes, bloodlust

-unsafe pallets in every corner, dead ends

-insta downs, moris, strong killer perks

even tho i need to deal with more things then you can imagine its a ######### move when i bring strong perks?

BUT "survivor playing is so easy LMAO TROLOLOL"

yeah its very easy especially when you get dedi hits in every corner. go play soloQ with potatoes and lets meet again.

you dont want people to complain about your noed and mori then you also shouldnt complain about some solo survivors bring some perks to survive longer because they dont wanna get tunneled at the beginning of the match.

It won't happen until the devs start pushing back on killers more. Unfortunately the good survivor mains left this game a long time ago so its just people like Tru3 who WHINES constantly about how 'easy' survivors' have it. Influencers like him is why the devs show too much cowardice to push back on the things you mention. The devs want Tru3 to keep playing.

Think back to the hex:ruin nerf and how it was 100% needed because it was an absolute trainwreck at low ranks. Despite that the subsequent nerd rage from people like Tru3 and this forum happened.

Until the devs push back, entitled killers will feel entitled, to everything you just mentioned.

  • You can get a warning/ban for quoting someone else who gets a warning/ban. FYI.

Wow, that's pretty dumb, Survivors should get some points for Sabotaging them, I took a protection hit for my friend and went to get a clutch sabo for it to only slap me in the face xD

Yea, these things tend to only ever happen in one direction unfortunately.

I don't see why I need to distinguish the two. They both fall under survivors. Sure, there is a big difference, but it isn't like the killer can choose to play against SWF, and there isn't a built in feature to tell if you're playing against SWF anyway. All the killer knows is that they are playing against survivors. I know this might sound a little incoherent and rambly but hopefully you understand my point.

Besides, Survivors are coddled just as much as killers, if not more, just because SWF exists. The option to have a game on easy mode sounds better than rolling the dice and leaving it up to chance, which is basically what happens when you play killer.

Not to mention that half of your main argument is literally just bugs.

'I don't see why I need to distinguish the two. They both fall under survivors.  Sure, there is a big difference'

Like i said, not exactly a pinnacle of insight.

Oh I know, I get called an entitled survivor all the time. :)

But both sides are not helping.

This game hasn't had perspective since when we had 72hrs playing, who was probably the last great survivor main.

Now the influences left are just people like Tru3, who whines incessantly how easy survivors have it. BHVR are not ignorant to this.

  • For the simple people;

    yes.

    For the more critical thinkers out there;

A group of coordinated players on comms syncing play is not even remotely comparable to a player that's playing solo.

EDIT: See my original post regarding 'insight'.

  • @SunderMun said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1684145#Comment_1684145

I'm not here for an us vs them argument whatsoever; I think it's unfair that killers can't DC if they want out of a game early and there are instances where both sides get babied, let's be real.

And yet the d/c argument only really falls on one side. Generally speaking, the longer a games goes on, the better it is for a killer.

If the conversation was at least a soloQ vs SWF argument I might be more in line with your thinking. But the killer biased talking points never let that happen.

What's happening here, that's been happening since release (and I know, I was there). Is the slow shift of the Overton window. Your talking points will be framed 'entitled survivor' talking points at some stage as it keeps shifting, if not already.

  • @SunderMun said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1684054#Comment_1684054

I did say if they're being slugged for 30 seconds or more; if there's no timer on it, it would be annoying, but if they're left on the ground with no options, they should be able to opt to sacrifice themselves. I'm also all for killers being allowed to give up if that's their prerogative; it can be stressful and simply stopping chases will often just end up in BM rather than survivors finishing the objective.

I've actually made suggestions to this effect a long time ago, but it didn't go anywhere so it's whatever. But it is an actual solution that isn't punishing people who aren't having a good time.

And it never will go anywhere, because this game is killer centric, and has been since release.

It tells you a lot when even the mods decide to way in on the discussion and start telling you what your supposed to say and think.

Indeed, this discussion has gone on before D/C penalties were implemented and I saw some really great suggestions that were completely ignored. Just like the OP will be ignored with their suggestion. We'll then be told in a future thread how we need to raise all THOSE points again all in separate threads.

Anyone arguing that this game hasn't fallen into a killer coddling trap is deluded.

  • @Ace_Ventura said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1683995#Comment_1683995

There's multiple perks that counter slugging. Run them.

Run a perk you won't use 90% of the time, use other perks to counter other things you won't need the majority of the time. Have 4 perks you won't use most of your games. Create boring games for yourself.

OR read what the OP said, make your game better.

  • @GhostyyBoi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1682289#Comment_1682289

    Crazy idea:

Maybe the forums are all killer mains complaining because it's justified? Because survivors actually have the upper hand?

The fact that you fail to even distinguish soloQ vs SWF shows me the extent of your insight.

  • It's been this way since release.

The games marketing and promotion is all killer. (Survivors are just reskins at this point). All the 'influencers' are killer mains. Just spend an hour in Tru3 stream and watch him whine how easy survivors have it while he 4k's after 4k's.

    The forums are killer dominated.

The devs have created an entire class of entitled killers at this point that there's no real push back on because of their collective nerd rage.

Go back to the hex:ruin nerf that was an absolute trainwreck at lower levels. That 100% was NEEDED to keep the flow of new survivors into the game. Read the amount of stupid that had no perspective then and you see that the coddling is just going to keep happening because the devs can't manage the bad PR.

  • Devs encourage disgusting play as mentioned by OP that is only enjoyed by one person for the 5 players involved. The devs don't even understand their own game with the d/c penalty.

You will still get hook suicides and you will get even more cancer play by killers.

    *slow clap*

  • @ClickyClicky said:

I played Spirit earlier and one baby survivor killed themself on 1st hook shortly into the game.

I can’t help but feel like even with the penalties on these kinds of people get what they want anyway - an early end to the game, but it’s everyone else that has to suffer. I try to play nice but I know most survivors would rather opt out when one has rage quit within the first 90 seconds of the game.

So who really suffered the most with these dc penalties? The Survivor that had to wait an extra 10-15 seconds to be picked up, hooked, and then forced sacrificed? Or the team left behind who were down to 3 vs 1 at 5 gens?

This post really puts it into perspective, it deserves to to have far more up votes.

People running around stating 'd/c numbers are down' CLEARLY can't see the forest for the trees.

    Because;

    1) People will still find a way to manage their games, as already stated because:

    2) The devs have failed to address the underlying issue

  • @Chrisko said:

Guys. Those same people that DC will just suicide first chance. There is almost no difference. Solo Q is Awful

That's what this forum is so inadequately unable to discuss. The average post here doesn't post beyond survivor vs killer trabalistic talking points.

    SoloQ is an absolute trainwreck.

  • @lowiq said:

DC Penalties don't fix the core issue as to why people are DCing in the first place.

This is straight up truth. D/C penalty is low hanging fruit for a company that fails to understand this premise.

  • soloQ survivor is just straight up bad, and has been bad for sometime now.

This game is for swf survivors and killers, you can't knowingly recommend this game to a friend starting out as a soloQ survivor because they will be DESTROYED.

For the record this forum is USELESS for said discussion, because most people don't have the capacity to post beyond trabalistic talking points (survivor vs killer).

  • If you're on steam look into 'Family Share' options. The D/C phenomena means nothing.

  • It's been that way for survivor for awhile now. SoloQ survivor in particular is in such a bad state that you couldn't knowingly recommend this game for a friend if they were going to start up solo. Unless you warned them they were going to be their face smashed in constantly.

Play killer or play swf, its basically what your left with at this stage.

It doesn't take a genius to know that players with less then 50 hours in general don't have any chance against killer with over 1k hours.

Regardless of which killer is used, all will be demolished. They should never be matched together even while calibrating the system.

I actually started to feel bad when I play as red ranked survivor against yellow ranked killer or red ranked killer against bunch of rank 20's.

I can actually predict now, if Im going against high ranks or low ranks.

If my lobby fills instantly ill get high ranks, if it takes some time to fill the lobby, its low rank.

This theory now holds across dozens of games, curious if its happening to others.

I've been getting Rank 1-3's today, regularly as Leatherface. I'm Rank 1. I've been playing Leatherface only and it went from 20's and 7's yesterday to straight Rank 1's-3's today. It's already starting to work for me. I switched to Freddy and got a few Rank 17's for a few matches but it's slowly going down so just plow through them for 2-3 days and see what happens.

How many games has that been? Because my first guess would be 'more than 10'.

Please do, because your generic talking points mean nothing.

'Good people should be rewarded, bad people should be punished'

    Well yes ofc but

    • Who decides who is good/bad?
    • Who decides what the rewards/punishments should be?

It's easy to make the above statement, just like it easy to toe the line 'because the devs said so'.

That's the beauty of discussions. You can form whatever opinion you want, whether it be right or wrong. I'm far from biased. I've met biased people. You can't reason with them no matter what. I've talked to a few killers and survivors who I've agreed with and disagreed with. You are welcome to think whatever you like but when you insinuate, that causes conflict and I stay out of it.

You said you'd stay out of it last time.

    Stop shilling for the devs.

  • @mylesmylo said:

What it feels like to me is the game is finding it hard to match me with people of my level or there isnt enough space and the game just throws me to the rank 20's just to give me a match lol I'd rather wait for a match then play with yellow ranks, just unfair.

    Well that's easy to identify.

How are queue times before relative to now?

My queue times were fine before, with no noticeable difference now to before. The only difference is that my games have gone to trash.

You take care of your own thoughts. I'm free to make my own opinions and thoughts of things but you don't see me accusing you of this and that. I make a point and go on it. I don't suck up to anyone, especially you. Take care.

    That reach.

I don't see a voice of reason fyi.

I never once said anything about old ruin. This is to keep old players from deranking and beating the hell out of new players by dc'ing enough until you get full potatoes every match. I'm glad they introduced MMR. Maybe it'll keep me from getting potatoes who UE around the map at Rank 1 who don't do gens. It'll be better in the long run but no one wants to wait. It's like the chapter updates and everyone rushes to complain within 39 seconds. Chill out and wait.

lol that other post said you were shilling for the devs, I'd have to agree.

They stated '10 games' its been more than 10 games.

Also I know you never said anything about old ruin. But I'm suspecting that you come under that 'willful ignorance' I mentioned.

Fun is subjective as I said before. If you're quitting then good luck on your future gaming endeavors. I play pvp games to get better and dominate. People always say they're leaving yet the playerbase grows and I still see the same people a month later talking again. I enjoy the conversations I have with people. I'm not trying to sway you to my side nor am I saying your style of wanting to play is invalid.

I am saying though, if someone wants to stop playing then stop playing. If the game is that unplayable then don't force yourself. Either way, you do what makes you happy. I'm not here to sell you DBD. I'm here to talk about the game, my experiences on it, whether good or bad and try to report bugs if I find some.

That's why I enjoy the discussions and mostly avoid negative ones that have no substance. If I can have a good convo then I'm a happy person. When I have a bad few games, I avoid the forums. I don't like posting a ton of negative discussions. This will be my last reply on the matter, I believe. I do hope you enjoy your DBD experience. You'll see me pop up here and there in certain discussions and feel free to talk to me. I'm usually eager to engage in conversations about the game.

These things don't happen in a vacuum.

You wouldn't have seen what was happening at low ranks with hex:ruin pre-nerf. That went on for FAR too long and the collective killer community was CLUELESS at best or willfully ignorant at worse. Indeed the 'my poor hex ruin' posts still manage to nauseatingly find there way onto this forum.

New players simply couldn't manage skill checks in general, let alone hex:ruin. And people expected them to even understand the concept of totems and how they worked?? let alone find them all?? rofl please.

What you're confusing is the popularity of this game relative to retention which you won't know if you're only playing at red ranks. For online games my people gravitate to playing with friends and being team orientated, i suspect that devs feed new survivors to killers knowing they can retain enough to sustain the population.

This mmr system just seems to be an extension of the same concept. Feeding new players to veterans for the sake of queue times or w/e.

It's certainly not doing any good for the game. But like you said, a % of people will stay.

  • 'Working as intended'

Seriously tho, your post is one amongst many that's pointing out that whatever this new mmr is supposed to be doing, its just not doing it. Its starting to look more like a social experiment.

  • It's pretty clear that this point that BHVR has failed with the implementation of this new mmr (irrespective of what its actually supposed to be doing).

  • @DrDeepwound said:

As someone who likes to use logic and data to help form an opinion...

If MMR has been running for weeks to gather and calculate this new hidden rank system, why is a 10 game requirement for things to balance out? Assuming we do need 10 games,.... I have obviously passed the 10 game mark....

Secondly, I played more than 10 games yesterday and it was noobs in every lobby, some with less than 50 hours. These players dont even know what all their perks do. Had multiple huntresses who could not hit me entire match and a Hag who didnt set down a single trap. Had survs who were trying to heal me while PLague infection was climbing to broken,... I was like ######### are these people doing?

Either the data we have been provided is incorrect or the system, is not functioning correctly.

That's the take home message at this point.

Anyone stating that its working as intended or that you 'just have to play 10 games' clearly doesn't have any insight into the issue.

It's literally train wreck after train wreck for games, one way or the other.

  • No one really knows beyond 'need 10 games to adjust'.

But as we meet and pass that bench mark it just seems like it's not working as intended, no matter what the criteria is supposed to be.

  • @johnmwarner said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1509175#Comment_1509175

That was a weird end comment, I play both sides and I can tell you my survivor games are not balanced despite me playing a lot lately so MMR should have enough data to not give me killers so bad they get run for five gens.

Also as killer I have purposely been playing PH because he’s the one I’ve played the most/best lately and yet I still get baby survivors who hide all gsme and get 0-1 gen done total.

You're articulating yourself, which in and of itself is better than his response.

In any event, beyond posts like his with the typical stupid tribal talking point, I see more and more posts like yours, and its been my experience as well.

If it is '10 games' then someone at BHVR doesn't know how to count.

  • The MMR system is a joke.

Anyone saying its Ok to have these completely trash games has more time than sense.

You could implement something without having to endure this, plenty of games run mmr without subjecting their player base to a train wreck.

  • @EuphoricBliss35 said:

This just feels like a nice cover for opening matchmaking to create quicker games. It can always be reasoned “well you went against a rank 20 killer, so the system graded you harder.” mmmm hmmmm 🧐

Honestly this statement feels closer to the truth of what we've been observing.

Just because the devs tell people its some finely tuned mmr system doesn't mean that's what they're actually doing.

If we were being brutally honest the fact that they have to create the current monstrosity of an mmr looks at best like a social experiment, at worse a bunch of people put something together that they're not sure what its doing.

  • These types of threads really need to be more prevalent than they are on this forum.

For the record, its so mind numbing that people can't distinguish this and CONSTANTLY simplify it as 'killers vs survivors'.

  • @FellowKillerMain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1485844#Comment_1485844

lol, how is it easier without ruin, interrupts rarely work, and now auras are fugged. Sure, you can't get rid of exhaustion while running, but that was a fix they said. They also said that the infinite loops they changed were broken, and were fixed. The new loops aren't much weaker than the former, it's just that you can actually catch a survivor if you decide to chase them around the loop for 2 minutes.

See my opening sentence where I state 'since release' because EVERYTHING you've listed has been newer or older changes across the games timeline in only the last few years. But even your bias is present.

The game doesn't have infinites anymore, you have something more akin to pseudo-infinites that don't compare to infinites at release. Anyone claiming infinites at this time are bad killers that get owned looking for something to hold onto.

Did you know that exhaustion wasn't even present at the release of the game? You could run sprint burst and balance landing in tandem.

It's obvious you haven't played since release and even then are picking the parts you want to focus on to prove your own theory.

People will work harder to maintain a belief than to investigate the truth.

  • 'cmon atleast be nice'

As you said the killer only wanted to win and the killer played the game as it was intended.

Either you want to leave a game from a sweaty killer or you're accepting of their playstyle, that's it.

  • @GandalfTheGay said:

Don't eat ice cream if you don't like brain freeze. Don't go to work if you don't like the idea of getting fired. Don't drive a car if you don't like the idea of having a car crash.

65% of the time, DCs are due to toxic teammates or just poor teammates in general. If you know you're going to have a bad time with people that just hide in lockers and don't do gens or stomp pallets on you for fun, then you DC, simple. It's idiotic to DC against killers due to them possessing certain builds, but wise if they face camp you. It's an entirely subjective situation, but usually when you play a game in general, it's to have fun, and to enable that you have to DC sometimes, it's understandable, just don't leave due to gameplay mechanics such as a Myres running scratched mirror or a Mori. Just think selfishly when playing any game and ask yourself "Am I having fun?" If not then make sure you are.

    This should be top post.

Also I think that there is no discussion around the nature of d/c relative to say solo vs SWF vs Killer. But that really is just the failing of not only this forum but BHVR in general.

Hell this forum fails to accurately discuss solo vs swf in general.

  • There's a certain % of survivors who've been conditioned to just blame other survivors for bad games, no matter what.

I've seen games where a killer is super sweaty; perks, add ons, proximity camp, tunnel, the works. The sort of game you probably would expect someone to RQ and I'll still get blamed.

Probably the difference between you and me is that nowadays, I'll just let them die and try for hatch. Sure, I get the inverse now and people ask why I didn't unhook them. If it's a sweaty killer and were 3 down with 5 gennies to go, for example, I just reply with 'I'm a survivor, my role is to survive'.

  • What a silly post, it completely fails to understand on SO MANY levels, why this change was enacted.

I'm not going to reiterate it all. But if you can't even differentiate between the fact that survivors are just different skins relative to each killer having a different play style......

I have a bridge to sell you.

The real answer to your question is that this forum is killer biased. Take the following format: Poor killer, OP survivor, and apply it to almost any highly upvoted post in this forum. Hell just take a look at the first post replying to you.

That post skips over the fact that Adrenaline is highly situational and most times is wasted. Compare that to noed which is relevant every end game, it only fails IF gate is already open IF you can't hit a survivor or IF noed is removed before the aforementioned points.

  • Lol this thread.

If you'd played since release you'd know that survivor has been nerfed far more, relative to killer.

Killer is significantly easier now, then it ever was at release.

  • If this forum would have discussed swf vs solo survivor maybe it would be an option, but its always been survivor vs killer. As such swf is really the only way to play higher ranks what with all the survivor nerfs.
