if you, as a team, do 4 totems but cant find the remaining one, you are being punished the same regardless as if you had done none. You're not being lazy survivors, some totem spawns can be incredibly good. In fact, in these cases, the remaining totem that nobody can find is guaranteed to be NOED so by doing 4/5 totems you've actually screwed yourself more than if you had done none.

This isn't punishing lazy survivors as OP said. This is punishing bad luck and rewarding a bad killer. If, for example, the number of exposed survivors was limited to the amount of remaining dull totems at end game, I would fully agree. All survivors exposed means at most 1 totem has been done and they deserve to be punished accordingly.

But as it is, thats not the case. NOED rewards bad killers far more than it punishes lazy survivors.

Survivors can bring 16 perks into play. One of them could be Small Game or Detective's Hunch, so finding the last totem shouldn't be problem anymore. That's why I bring small game every match instead of most know meta perks that aren't as meta as anti-totems perk. Now, any other argument that's isn't "some totems are too hard to find and I don't have an anti-totem perk on my team"?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/239626/why-are-they-trying-to-make-dbd-competitive-when-they-declare-tunneling-etc-fair

    Here’s the thing.

The role of killer is SUPPOSED to be villainous. The devs intentionally allow some freedom for the player (as killer) to make “villainous” decisions. It is 1 vs 4 after all. As long as cheating isn’t occurring, it’s supposed to be anything goes.

Part of the “horror” experience in this game is for survivors to perceive the killer as a threat and villain, which is only possible if the killer indeed actually is.

Personally, when I play as survivor I always presume the killer might be a tunneller or camper. The first chase I get into possibly could mean the end of the game for me.

It is of my opinion that it’s healthy for survivor players to never expect that they’re entitled to 2 extra chances. The possibility of 2 extra chances (2 hook rescues) exist, but the game is not designed or intended around a hard n fast rule of survivors should always be given their 2 extra chances, and that the killer should accomodate that.

What a smart answer. Really learn with that.

Maybe this guy is seeing the non-competitive, very casual aspect of the game, where killers camp because they don't know what to do/how will affect the game. Probably because he also does it and don't know the absolute valid and game-changing scenarios to camp. Watching competitive DbD, for example, he could learn that is a such a smart decision to proxy-camp a survivor around a 3-gen setup, this is a very seeked scenario that is game changing if accomplished.

I'm sure he learn a lot reading our commentaries and will change positions. Will just take time.

Tunneling maybe if the survivor is good,,,but if the player isnt then he gets downed three seconds after getting off the hook. All your doing is going after the easy target which is maybe a tactic. Hooking a survivor then just sitting there is not a tactic at all, you cant be serious lol?? Killers who think that really need to understand the meaning of tactic

    What does tactic mean?

English Language Learners Definition of tactic

: the activity or skill of organizing and moving soldiers and equipment in a military battle.

: an action or strategy carefully planned to achieve a specific end.

Does that sound at all like sitting in front of a hook, esp if no one comes to rescue and you end up losing?

You must be kidding?! From your words.

    What does tactic mean?

an action or strategy carefully planned to achieve a specific end.

I don't understand why you don't consider camping a tatic, and a pretty valid strategy.

Killers camp to decrease the number of players by 1, because when a match has only 3 players and there's 1 survivor on the hook, if 1 is being chased then is obligatory that the other one will unhook the other. This makes the effective number of players on generators to 0, and then the survivor's progress stops, because if the killer is good enough, by the time the hooked survivor's is unhooked, the being chased is being hooked, and the whole cycle begins. Playing against 3 people makes DbD another game for the killer, and that's why camping is a very valid tactic, because killers use to "achieve a specific end", the one that I just explained.

I'm not responding any more quotes. This is pretty obvious.

  • You haven't explained why camping or tunneling is not a legit strategy. The time the killer spends chasing a high level survivor + camping is sufficient to get all generators completed easily. That's 3 easy escapes for the survivor team or a maximum of 1 (or 3) hooks out of 12 for the killer, which are both losses. You see how you're wrong when talking about competitive DbD?

  • Boy, you sure DH is the biggest of your problems?

    KEK.png

  • I stopped buying killers and survivors because I don't have time to level them up.

  • Interesting... Did you check if you internet did go down for a second? Because this can be an actual measure to make lag switchers DC.

If rank reset wasn't a thing, everyone would be at red ranks, giving you worse games than you're having now. Your other games didn't reset most likely because they don't have a reason to.

You're right. I forgot the MMR system still don't work.😪

  • @Roar_Tenken said:

Obviously. Rank reset has always been a thing, and we all know this. If you choose to take a break, you should keep in mind that you'll be a lower rank when you return.

Yeah, my fault. Such a perfect game design. I wonder why my other games didn't reset or have a smurf detection system.

Take to take another break. I know this is what the devs want if I'm not happy with the game.

  • Good to know. Faster as killer and survivor?

  • Same. I'm getting this bug every match as a killer. Survivors' cries of pain can still be heard on hook location after death. I've got videos about it if devs thinks it's necessary.

Youre just as bad as them. As a nurse main, i take pride in not stooping to swf level by bringing unfun perks like infectious on nurse. See, this wasnt an accomplishment, and don't call them entitled when you are also playing shameless.

Can't agree with you. Infectious has a very clear counter which is to not cluster around Nurse's TR. Infectious is especially good against altruistic survivors who like to stand in killer's face.

4 basement hooks on one screen, nice catch :D.

You have Franklins equipped, did you expect some last second switch or are you running it regularly?

Franklin's is on my basekit Nurse. That's my standard build.

  • Also: devs, can we talk about perk variance?

  • This is not necessary. The current MMR system and matchmaking algorithm just sucks. BHVR recuses to implement a Glicko-2 based MMR system that every serious competitive game uses and keep matching Rank 1 players with Rank 20 players somehow. (!?)

I feel they're procrastinating over this problem now that they failed the previous matchmaking rework. Looks like they don't care enough to see it as an urgent problem and are dumb enough to KEEP BALANCING A GAME AROUND UNBALANCED MATCHES. Still, I'm still getting sh*t like this.

    1.jpg

  • Some mistakes were made while writing post above cause I'm tired, but I hope you'll understand.

  • I've removed shadowborn from my build since Hexy's Tournament because we're shown that the best Nurses in the world thought it's a dead perk once you master The Nurse. It's very hard to play in the beginning and make sure you're using a skin where Nurse's arms are covered by anything, but once you get used to it you'll have a free perk slot.

Also, Nurse's Calling is another dead perk against good survivors that once in Nurse's TR, will stop healing.

I agree with the fact that corrupt Intervention is necessary for early pressure and we've seen on competitive DbD that it looks mandatory.

And then we have PGTW. Which is exceptionally good on Freddy, but IMO, very bad on Nurse. Why? To explain that I have to talk about Nurse's gameplay.

Nurse's gameplay revolves around her power, who is exceptionaly great for slugging. While playing Nurse your objetive is to make everybody leave generators to go for you, instead of you going for them. You should spend your time chasing people instead of kicking generators (=losing distance). Downing 2 survivors most of the time will make gen progress stop (unless they're very commited to gens, which is a very bad thing for them if you notice a 3rd survivor and start your 3rd slugging) and will make you able to push everybody to a place that you now rule with your blinks.

That being said, I strongly recommend you to use Infectious Fright. This perk will allow you to create pressure from the very beginning of your game, and if you're good enough, you can have all team downed from your first killing spree. Things like that will happen, all the time. It's how I end 95% of my matches.

Captura de Tela (152).png Captura de Tela (154).png Captura de Tela (172).png

Apart from Infectious Fright and Corrupt Intervention, I feel that the other two are personal choices.

I really like Knock Out because it makes survivor panic once they know their allies can't see them if they're not close (15m). Playing against many streamers/competitive squads, I've seen that even if they're communicating their position to others, I can still buy a lot of time because they can't pinpoint locations most of the time. I don't even have to say what this perk does to survivors queueing solo, It's pure humiliation and your slugs will most likely bleed out before someone find them if they're downed in the corner.

Franklins is another personal choice. Many players go back to search for their itens once they're dropped and that will buy you time/get you kills. Feels good not needing to worry about Keys also, and DC's will rain over your matches once they discover you've got a Knock Out + Franklins combo.

Good luck on your journey! Feels good to have more Nurse mains (?) around here!

As killer I think of myself as a 9/10

Survivor, 9.5/10, I've been playing for some time and chasing me often results in match lost. The -0.5 is because I'm too greedy and often need DH to gain distance.

Killer, 9/10. Putting that because it's probably my accuracy when hitting using Nurse's blink (when I'm not using it to gain distance).

I’m not really a fan of Ayrun anyway but theres no doubt team agony really did impress throughout, Fingerguns especially, he had a few low points but when he was on top form he was on top form.

I liked that other guy too, trickster? Can’t remember what team he was in.

Otz gets credit as well for not being afraid to play the oddball choice.

Really the tourney just shows you can’t beat survivors splitting the gens unless you’re Nurse and that survivors - even when you think they’re down and out - will always have a second chance up their sleeve.

What a glorious game and incredible tournament.

Do not forget that green itens weren't allowed and only 2 of the same perks per team. A team of 4 DH, BT/UN/DS against a nurse is very strong which means that on this tournament, survivors were playing while nerfed badly and still won most of the time. Probably we would have had 4 escapes almost every match like the last Spring/Stuffed by Daylight tournament (which still had old Hex Ruin and pre-nerf Nurse). Incredible plays by Trickster and FingerGuns still.

Fingerguns' massive PP is what got them there.

All team Agony played very godly.

  • Forgot to say, FingerGuns is a GOD.

Do anyone knows if he/she streams?

  • IS A F JOKE @ClickyClicky

They reseted a match because the team (who was clearly losing very hard with 5 gens and 1 dead) claimed a bug happened although there's no history of this bug on history of DbD WHILE giving a win for the same team ignoring the 2 second DS that the guy gave to spirit before escaping. They reset matches when a not comproved negative bug affects Oracle but ignore and give win when a negative bug affects the team they are going against. If Oracle wins nobody cares because everybody knows that Agony is the winner and if Agony wins everyone knows that this tournament should have ended 4 hours ago.

    Do you camp?

Whether it be for strategy or just to facecamp for fun or anything of the sort. No judgment, I'm just curious how many killers do consciously camp.

I'm mostly playing later in the night not on weekends, 3am-6am, so I go against only PC players 9/10 of my matches, with 19/20 of them with thousand of hours, and being currently on rank 1 just makes that harder, because I do play on SA servers and we have a lot of local DbD competitions here with very good players, so as you can see, most of the time I'm playing against tryhards. That being said, I always run infectious fright to get some slugging value, but if nobody is close, I will absolutely hook and proxy camp. It's the optimal playstyle as you can see on competitive matches...

  • Survivor

Perk Build: DH, OoO, Iron Will, DS

    Item + Add-ons: none

Why these things: I like to buy time for my team to gens and OoO is usually the best way to incite the killer to chase you. Most of the time I play immersed my team dies on 30s of looping and waste most of good pallets of the map, so to solve this I got really good at looping and let my team do the generators.

    Killer

    Killer: Nurse

Perk Build: Infectious Fright, Corrupt Intervention, Whispers, Shadowborn

Add-Ons: Metal Spoon (gives Stridor for 60s), Bad Man Keepsake (gives Nurse's Calling for 60s)

Why these things: It's a 6 perk build and each of them is very consistent. When I don't want to tryhard with recharge add-ons I'm playing this one because is somewhat strong and cheap.

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

    Suggestion to fix the issue:

We now have that map offering counter offering (moco). If we'd split regular offerings (wreaths, cakes, wood etc) and map offerings, and have the map offerings that have been brought show BEFORE getting into the match, giving people the chance to use a negation offering on one, several or all of them (like give the MOCO ranks. brown lowers the chances of one, yellow negates one, green lowers the chance of two, purple negates two, pink negates all for example) and then have the entity show a preview image of what map you'll be heading to and give the chance to nope out.

I think they should keep realm selection out of offerings since it's not fair for the killer (survivors can do x4, killer can do x1 - survivors can do and can negate killer same time, killer can't do and negate same time). Creating a voting system for survivors can make realm banning 1:1. They should stop putting things on the game where survivors can do x4 and killer only x1.

a map is the one location you are at, such as "Suffication Pit"

a realm is the location multiple maps are from, such as "MacMillan Estate"

so saying you want a map banned would only keep that one map from appearing, but saying you want a realm banned would keep up to five maps from appearing.

Yes, I said something about that later.

Well yeah, the Item Map exists, but Realms refers to, for example, Coldwind Farm, and maps of that realm refers to, for example, The Thompson House, Torment Creek etc.

So my question was: Do you mean to ban a Realm like Coldwind Farm, or do you mean to ban a map like Fractured Cowshed?

    Sorry for not being clear.

    Realms!

There are 15 different realms currently. I think banning 5 of them would let a pool of 10 to choose from, which is, in my judgement, enough diversity. You're right about the different locations of a realm being called a map.

  • @Boss said:

I know you're saying map, but just to make it clear to my brain: Map or realm?

I think realms ( https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Realms ) are the correct term.

    Maps ( https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Maps ) means the item.

There's no problem on letting survivors bleed out. It's not considered holding the game hostage because survivors WILL bleed out and the game will eventually end.

  • Many things need to happen in order for you to get soul guard value. Firstly you need to slug. Slugging means you're putting pressure on 2 survivors at same time, 1 on the ground 1 is being chased. If you down the 2nd survivor, you can 1. keep slugging, 2. pick up the 2nd survivor, 3. pick up 1st survivor. If you think they have soul guard you can pick up the 2nd survivor and I don't see a problem on it. If you can't pick the 2nd survivor because you see a 3rd survivor then all team is under pressure and there's also no problem on it. You're making bad decisions if you 1. go back to 1st survivor or 2. don't manage to down the 2nd one after downing the 1st. If Otz made one of these mistakes then it's his fault. Top ranks is all about knowing how to play around meta perks. But I agree, survivors' reward is too much, still risk is very high and needs coordination/killer's innocence.

  • @HarryRenquist said:

What are your overall thoughts on this perkbuild? I’ve seen this quite often lately. Yesterday there was a full SWF playing against Otz. 3 of them running this perkbuild the last one was running Adrenaline, DS and Unbreakable. They played on Haddonfield, Otz was playing Doc. They weren’t playing good. One got even grabbed. It was one of those cases you see survivors escaping, solely because of their perkbuild after playing super bad. They were farming each other off the hooks. Not taking protection hits after unhooks. Not using BT. No teamplay at all.

I wonder if survivors need even more second chance perks. Or maybe just add another hook, so killers can only kill them on the fourth hook. Sad to see perks becoming stronger than skill in this game.

But what are your thoughts on this perkbuild? What do you think about the synergy between Unbreakable, Soul Guard and Decisive Strike? Does this need to get nerfed?

They can be very overpowered if the survivors know how to play which isn't the case of most of people being carried by a micro pp build. I just played against these sweties and they got so wrecked that I only used my mori on last hook. Perfect game.

  • Overwatch sends players a message when their reports resulted something. It would be really cool having something like this on DbD.

I partially suffer from this because I've seen so many streamers report me for skin hacking (because I have Nurse's Fluid Nightengale skin, which is not available in the game anymore, and they think it's Nurse's prestige skin). I don't care but would be glad if something was returned to these players saying my account is fine.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

Biggest thing that everyone ignores about gen-rush is how much it hurts BOTH sides. If the best you can hope for is a safety, then you are clearly playing the game wrong.

I'd rather have a long 20 minute match, where everyone double-pips but there was 3 or 4 kills than a 5 minute safety only because there's interaction with both sides.

Yes! That's why I hate playing against Tombstone Myers and love playing against Forever Freddy. Against Tombstone Myers everybody needs to genrush before he starts moring everybody which most of the time results on everybody escaping and gaining a safe pip, but against Forever Freddy everybody will probably die but win a ton of points, everybody wins. 😣

  • Ok. Did you saw or heard them close before picking up the survivor? If the gen was close, did you give a fast checking up on it? What are your reasons to pick a survivor (and put them on the hook)? I know gen speed is a problem, but as a rank 1 killer I've experienced that 99% of the time I got genrushed the actual problem was me making mistakes or trying to play cool. Most of the time, genrushing is a direct result of killer's inability to put pressure on the map.

If you see that you're going against very altruistic survivors that do gens in your face, bodyblock injured survivors and mostly follow the killer to pallet save/gimmick to buy time for other survivors finish other gens, you need to play accordingly. Firstly, start slugging to force people off gens. The moment you slug someone and immediatly start chase with another you will be pressuring 3 survivors: 1 is slugged, 1 is being chased and 1 is running for the save. You downed another one and see another survivor? Keep slugging until you have all team injured and clustered around you and off gens. Don't assume that survivors aren't healing because you've got Sloppy Butcher. Most optimal survivors will only heal when they're grouped up, which means they will mostly spend most of the match injured. This being said, against very good SWFs Sloppy Butcher is a wasted perk slot, try slowdown perks like Corrupt Intervention, PGTW or slugging perks like Infectious Fright.

I would like to introduce you to Infectious Fright, a very good perk against very altruistic survivors.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XKVltvDYSwd-9y2DQ-XSTEGXUj6EPuvc/view?usp=sharing

I would like also give a small tip about slugging. After everybody's on the ground, pick the ones that you downed first to prevent unbreakable. As you can see below later in the same match, I've started with Cheryl, later Zarina and later Nea. If I've had picked up Zarina or Nea first, Cheryl would have had proc'd her unbreakable and the match wouldn't be over.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mmWjeezMPLgrr-72Nw_1ioxovO528LZg/view

My advice for you is to search for ways to increase your pressure around an area so the survivors are forced to leave gens and come to you. If you see a cluster around a generator that's the best scenario for you not the worst, because you can easily gain a lot of free hits and even slugs if you play properly. The worst type of survivors that you'll face aren't the altruistic ones, but the ones who stealth all game and let friends die on hooks, if you want to understand why, watch some competitive DbD.

Congratulations! Hope you're getting the rank 1 achievement soon!

Question: have you tryed changing Sloppy Butcher for Corrupt Intervention? It'll become more useful in high ranks since people are more confident and don't want to heal (and preventing 1-2 generators popping before your first hook too - which forces a maximum of two people working on at gens).

  • This is lag switching. Just played against a billy that started to lag switch after I've had loop him for some minutes. Killed myself on hook and reported him. What can I do?
