  • They need to either slow gen speeds down a bit or give killers a mini "pop" effect for when they kick gens and increase the rate of generator regression after they're kicked. While they're at it, they can also do something about gen tapping. It's kinda BS that killers are locked in to a 2 second animation but a survivor can just run by and briefly tap it to get it to step regressing.

Exactly, just like Killers say "Camper gets no point, thats the punishment", just like Survivors Gen rush and get no point.

For Op, try to use Endgame build (Noed, Bloodwarden, Rancor & either Remember or No way out). I often went from 2 hooks to 4k. It doesnt matter if they Gen rush.

To add on to what you said here, Twins + Bloodwarden = a great time. Strat here is to use Victor to face hug one of the survivors at the exit gate while they teabag and taunt you. While Victor is on them they can't leave through the gate. So make sure Charlotte is nearby (also having the perk where it takes Victor longer to come off helps a lot too) and just whack the survivor being hugged. When they go down I think the game still reads that Victor is on them and won't let them leave, so you have a small window to grab and pick them up. Once you do, slap them on a hook, turn around and watch the chaos as the survivors try to figure out what just happened lol.

And he's saying (quite rightly) that if you get into that position in the first place it's because you screwed up. Many killers Trapper most notably will try to force you into that and its on you to recognise and work to prevent it.

Exactly. Played a game as Bubba once, the survivors gen rushed one side of the map on the cornfield and left me with a perfect 3 gen on the other side of the map. I say perfect in the sense that they were all really close by, and if I stood in the center I had perfect line of sight of all of them. Each gen also had a well placed hook next to them as well, so it was as perfect as it could be for me. What started off as a terrible game turned in to my getting a 4k.

Probably not; reporting does nothing. On the forums, we keep getting told it does because mods etc kind of have to say it works, but in reality i've seen enough first hand evidence to know for a fact nothing happens.

Now now that's not fair. Besides, if these forums are anything to go by the real threat out there are these dastardly forum people who "belittle" others by calling them vile, disgusting names like "troll". You guys are fighting the wrong war, the real fight is right here in the forums where the hammer drops quicker than an exposed survivor.

Jennifer's Body, Serial Mom, The Grudge, American Mary - and those are only a few which I, someone who watches very few horror movies, have seen. BHVR literally work with this, and should know horror/thriller movies way better than I do. Also, although the Scream series is licensed, DBD's Ghostface is an original character, whom they decided to make a generic narcissistic guy, for some reason.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Grudge. Jennifer's Body though...eh...I dunno about that one to be honest. Also I...haven't seen American Mary, so that one is on me. Either way like I said I ain't against adding some female killers to the game. I'm actually fine with it. I would prefer more original killers in general (regardless of gender, before anyone says anything) but hey if they can get a cool enough character again I'm down.

Just adding Carrie, Annabelle, Drag Me To Hell, the Nun, The Curse of La Llorona, The Ring, Dead Silence, Misery... There's so many options for licensed female killers.

Yoooo! Ok, I love the idea of having La Lloronna there in the game, I love that urban legend. Also I loved the movie Dead Silence and yeah, Mary Shaw running around in the game would be interesting. Oooh...having her use her power to maybe teleport between dolls in the map would be cool!

  • So here's where my thoughts are on this one. Personally I'd be ok with letting the ladies come out here in to the fog and have some bloody fun. No issues with that what so ever. My question is, what kind of big IP is out there that is a female horror icon, as in the killer, who is not a skin, but the actual character? I can't think of any off the top of my head outside of the girl from the Ring. That said though, if BHVR wanted to make more of their own unique female killers, I'd be more than down for that and in fact I encourage it.

Personally I want to see more unique characters in here as a whole. I dunno I just personally feel like if they overload the roster with too many IP characters it kinda takes away the "wow" factor of seeing the big name characters from the movies in the game you know? But yeah, I got no problem with this.

Just some little details that you forgot. You have no ######### idea what boon totems do, you've never played as killer against boon totems, and theory crafting is beyond speculative.

Wow...it's almost like you didn't read what I said at all and just wanted to talk #########. I said at the end that I'LL WAIT AND SEE HOW THIS WORKS. Everything else I mentioned were just some concerns that I have about this mechanic, and that I hope that the devs also considered the same and figured out a way to make this work without breaking the game. Granted my faith in them is pretty low, but I can still hope for some semblance of balance.

So yeah, no ######### I never played against boon totems. Literally no one here has. Still doesn't mean that I can't worry and bring up some issues that I can potentially see and hope that they'll address them. But here, let me reiterate again, so you don't miss it this time. *I GUESS WE'LL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE HOW THEY HANDLE IMPLEMENTING THIS NEW FEATURE IN TO THE GAME.*

  • Ok, but if Trickster switches to survivor, then who do killers get in exchange?

(I vote we get the Enti- I mean Nea).

Looking online, it seems to be sacrifices only, so yeah you have to hook them three times.

Huh, weird...then I have got to be somewhat close to getting one mask cus I've only ever used a mori on him once.

  • Actually question, when you say "kill", does that mean 3 hooks or using a mori? Asking because I'm pretty sure that I've reached that 25 for at least the damn Megs or the Dwights.

  • @konchok said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2511312#Comment_2511312

Good job. You described how hexes feel when playing survivor. ha

Ok so I'm just gonna mention this, cus I don't think anyone has said it or mentioned it. Ok yeah, finding totems might be annoying but it is a side objective and one that you are actually equipped to handle whereas killers don't have the tools, at least right now to handle going on totem hunts. See on top of there being 4 survivors, which means main objective can be done while also completing the side objective of totems, you have something else that killers don't have besides teammates and that's perks and items!

Yeah, see you survivors have 4 perks and 1 item that help you find totems, and hell even one let's you cleanse them even quicker. I mean you don't even need to waste a perk slot and can just bring a map and keep all your meta perks and STILL be able to go totem hunting. Hell if you bring the right add-ons you can even have the map reveal the totem locations to the other survivors too! Killers don't have any way to track down or hunt down totems. In fact we only get notifications of you guys killing totems when you either kill off our main totem, or when you're cleansing a dull totem and we have Undying. Even with Undying, once it activates and saves the main hex perk the tracking goes away.

So yeah based on this one little detail I personally don't have any faith that these boon totems are gonna be balanced in any shape way or form. I'll sit back and wait and see, but if they make it so that we have to go and hunt these damn things while not balancing gen times, gen regression, and not giving us any way to help track totems, then I'm gonna be honest I might just stop playing the game entirely.

an offering that tremendously increases the chance of playing against a specific killer

There's a few problems with this and one major problem that automatically won't make this a thing. The major problem here is that offerings don't go in to effect until the game starts and by then your killer is already chosen. So something like this would have to be an in game option as part of the matchmaking system. But I doubt they'll ever do anything like this cus then that would involve having to do extra work and also if you do this then people playing Nurse, Blight, and Spirit will have such ridiculously long queues cus survivors at high mmr will choose to actively avoid those guys and some may just opt to go pick on some of the more weaker killers in the game such as Legion for example.

  • Yeah... I see the term "clutch perk" get thrown around so much and see survivors throwing that around with certain killer perks (NOED being the golden example). Now granted killers do the same thing in regards to a lot of survivor perks as well, so it's not just one side. Now with that said...while keys aren't a perk, they're still one hell of a clutch for the game that gives away free escapes with no downsides.

I had a game in Haddonfield playing as Plague. Very tight game, I got a 2k out of it. There was a Quinton in the game who I'm guessing found a key on the map somewhere and he got the free escape along with the Tapp. Now this one instance annoys me in particular because there was a moment where the Quinton zoned himself and bumped in to me shortly after I had just hooked him. Now I could have tunneled his ass and killed him right there and be done with it. But I felt bad and decided to show mercy and purposefully ignored him and went after the Tapp. WELP, my small act of mercy bit me on the butt cus like I said, he had a key and either I didn't notice it in his hand or he stashed it earlier for the right moment. So yeah he opened the hatch, and while I was chasing Tapp I saw where he was going and was like "Noooooo....come on..." So Tapp and Quinton got away, I closed the hatch and went back to look for the Feng and got her for the 2k. So yeah, that's what I get for showing mercy and not trying to tunnel cus you know, "it's toxic"... Also yeah, screw keys.

  • For every one bug they fix, they end up breaking 5 more things x.x

  • I mean...you're out here saying one set of perks is busted, so I'd be curious to know what perks your running too.

  • @Ouro said:

will they ever implement some type of system where killers who facecamp with Bubba or any killer, dont get points and we dont get de-pipped?

Killers already lose points for staying too close to hook for too long and with the new MMR you can't de-pip anymore.

  • Just spawn the survivors in a game by themselves where all they do is just jog around the map for three minutes. If they keep a consistent heart rate between 120-150 then the entity just opens the gates for them. Rename the game to just "Jog by Daylight."

  • @Animal_Mother said:

One of the strong killer streamers I watch talked about burnout from MMR on a recent stream and how he has been sitting afk face to the wall for a bunch of games off stream in an effort to lower his rating. Not sure how effective it’s been. Some of his games still look a little tough.

Oof...I don't think he should've admitted that on stream 👀

  • I play mostly killer, and I mean like 99.999% of the time. I've tried playing survivor and eh, honestly it's just not my playstyle. I personally can't stand it and find it both annoying and boring at the same time. On very rare occasions I'll jump on and play maybe one or two games with friends and tough it out for a bit before bowing out.

  • @Artemisha said:

In some tournaments where tunnel / camp is not allowed until end game, these strats are allowed in case you are defending a 3 gen. I find it quite fair. But it's arbitrary rules over the official rules.

Got to say that although I agree with this rule, I think it'd be hard to implement like a in game mechanic. I also don't mind situational tunnel when killer has no pressure, but find it quite disgusting as the way to go with 5 gens remaining.

The thing is, you can't really look at tournaments and what they do and allow because they also ban certain perks/add-ons on both sides and have other outside rules to abide by to make the game more fair.

At the end of the day, when you have a game that has a PvP element to it, regardless, there's always going to be a form of camping. Sorry but that's kind of a fact. Call of Duty? Campers. Battlefield? Campers. Hell, World of Warcraft? Yes, they have campers too, and they put literal camp fires next to your body when they do it too. This is just an element in PvP games that can't really be solved easily, especially in this game where the opposing sides play so differently, and any little change that happens to one side ends up greatly affecting the other in one shape or another.

  • @Shaped said:

God I have an awesome idea how to fix this. Just bear with me.

What if timer stops when the killer is in the same match as hooked survivor?

See, aside from the issues already mentioned of survivors abusing this exact system to the point where the devs had to remove it entirely, you're thinking only about face camping from one perspective. Ok yeah, I think we can agree getting face camped right out the gate sucks, right? I can certainly agree to that. But what about other situations? Actually let's take a look at this and run with that idea for a second and say hook timers stopped if the killer is nearby. So outside of your scenerio, what do you think should happen if the killer grabs someone after all 5 gens are done, or better yet what do you think they should do during the EGC?

Actually here I'll use a game I had recently as an example. Played as Bubba in the cornfield map the other day that has the hay barn off to the side. The survivors right out the gate start rushing gens and just smashing them as quick as they could before I could even finish my first chase, which wasn't even that long, maybe a minute tops. So the survivors are slamming gens and I guess they weren't paying attention towards gen placement and they gave me the most perfect 3 gen situation that I could ask for. 3 gens on one side of the map that were placed to where I could stand in the center of them and have perfect LOS of all of them. Hell, even the spot in the center came with a hook as well. So survivors come and I catch one and hook'em and continue to stand in my spot to keep an eye on the gens. The survivors would bum rush hook, I'd chainsaw and they'd swap hooks. Eventually I got them all. I got called a camper, and yes I did indeed camp. But what do you think I should've done? Do you think I should have f***ed off to the other end of the map, throw a little dance party in the killer shack and let the survivors get the free win, even though screwed up and put themselves in one of the worst 3 gen situations they could've hoped for?

Yeah no. If this system was implemented in the game it would destroy the killer's chances to do anything after gen completion or during the EGC. Maybe less so in the EGC since there's a hard time limit, but once all the gens get popped I don't have any secondary objective anymore and now I need to do what I can to achieve my first objective which is to kill. This system would prevent me from getting at least 1 kill out of a bad situation. Plus in my game this would remove any sort of pressure to come save their teammate and essentially would have been forgiving these guys for 3 genning themselves so badly. So yeah maybe try and think beyond just the one scenario when you suggest things like this, which again, have been tried and were exploited to give one side even more of an advantage.

  • It's probably just a nod towards Jason, that's it. Nothing to really look too deep in to.

  • Imo why play Billy if you have Bubba unlocked? He's essentially a better Billy and can chainsaw more than 1 survivor and doesn't handle like a drunken rhino when he activates his chainsaw. But again, that's just my opinion.

  • Wait....nodding to a downed survivor is considered toxic/BM now? I nod to downed survivors to try and let them know that I'm gonna give them hatch...

  • @Axx said:

It is an advantage overall. I tried it for a week and it made looping so much easier. I could see killers over rocks and hay bales trying to mind game me by moon walking because of the increased vertical FOV. It even made looping other things easier due to the slight increase of the horizontal FOV. Like you can hold certain angles at shack and see the killer that you can't with normal res. Granted the horizontal FOV increase isn't as much as the vertical one, but it still gives an advantage. I eventually turned it off because it wasn't fair and I really didn't need it to do well on survivor. Survivor is already in control when played well. Why add more of an advantage was/is my thought.

This here. Axx here brought up a point that most of you are missing or purposefully glossing over, which is that stretched res gives you an unfair advantage with looping as well. I really hope that -this- problem can at least be taken care off. It's one thing having SWFs who can communicate, which already makes killer's jobs harder. But now add in that you can just see over most tiles with this and I mean, yeah like how many more advantages can we give survivors here? Now I will add, before some of y'all come at me, stretched res does benefit killers as well, I've seen it benefit Nurses more, to counter her FOV being blocked after she gets fatigued. So yes, that is also a big advantage that you're giving to killers. I'm not sure what other killers this might benefit as well, but overall I think this kinda benefits the survivors more since it does literally kill the powers of 1 killer and makes it easier to loop killers in general.

Bro saaaaame with me and BBQ. Any time I play a killer without it I feel almost naked lol. Also I've slowly been gaining an appreciation for STBFL recently, especially on Nemesis. My god it's just so good on Nemmy.

  • I'm so glad you mentioned NOED cus I do unironically use it on my Slinger once I found out that it counts as a basic attack if he whacks you while reeling in.

  • Victor gives the best face hugs imo. Especially if you're waiting for him by the exit gates >=)

  • Literally anything involving NOED makes me the equivalent of Satan himself eating baby orphans while kicking puppies. At least that's how it feels after receiving those massive blasts of sodium thrown my way.

  • As killer, I mean do my job and kill them. Straight to the hook they go. However I do show mercy in those games where I won't tunnel or camp. I'll actually purposefully ignore someone if after I just hooked them and stumble in to them randomly in an open area after the unhook. Then usually I end up giving hatch to the last remaining survivor if it comes down to that. Least I can do since it's kinda sh***y that they got automatically handicapped and put in to a 3v1 game right out the gate.

  • I think it's cus in this game there's less of a reliance on yourself as opposed to killer where you have no one else to rely on other than yourself in a 1v4 situation. This isn't meant as a dig either towards survivors btw, so please don't take this as that. Plus there are other factors to consider too such as the player themselves and what they're own personal learning curve is, and how seriously they take the game, etc. If you dive deeper in to that question there's really no good answer for it.

  • @miketheratguy said:

I stand by what I keep saying. Give the camped survivor some extra BP. "Why should survivors be rewarded for being caught"? Well hooked survivors already get BP for struggling, right? Incentive for trying to stay in the game and compensation for being stuck in a crappy situation? Just add some points to the "sitting there defenseless" phase and have the accompanying text in the corner read "suffering".

Hell, if they wanted to they could even make it a diminishing multiplier situation in which the "suffering" bonus decreases as the match goes on to balance out the fact that people who are camped early get virtually nothing while people who get camped late got to enjoy a full match.

Nothing dramatic, just a little extra BP to make up for the fact that they can't play which still allows for the killer to play however they want. Boom, problem solved.

Actually...I like this idea and have proposed this in the past as well as giving the overall survivor team extra points for escapes, kinda letting them reap some rewards together as a team.. Doing this might alter the thought of just being a defenseless victim to "Eh, I'm at least keeping this f***er busy with them face camping me hard.

In general I do think survivors should get more BP than what they do now, especially if they do end up winning. I see nothing wrong with that.

  • Already been tried. Survivors abused it. BHVR reverted the changes. The end.

I pretend that I don't have it, like I drastically spin away, face walls when picking up, camp bodies pretending that I am afraid of a save. And then when they need it most, Hello Zep starts playing in the background and I get so much value they might as well rename it "value, the perk."

Yo I'll pretend to do the same sometimes too XD. It's hilarious.

  • Elodie needs to share with the one character who truly needs a booty buff... Pyramid Head.

  • Ain't gonna lie chief, and I say this as a killer main, this is a pretty bad change. Honestly it's fine the way it is now. It's strong but only at end game, and can easily be countered and removed from the game.

  • If they boop the snoot then I spare them, but go by Spider-Man rules.

    unnamed (2).jpg

But also if they boop snoot at egc I'll give them hatch too.

  • Yeah...would rather swap out a couple of those speed and distance add-ons for ones that makes chains a bit harder to break at least. Sometimes they just break way too damn fast and I end up getting no value from them at all =/

  • @Gladonos said:

NOED is a crutch perk. "Do bones" is irrelevant. The whole point is that it gives someone who would otherwise 0k a 1k/2k. Yet, if you didn't run it you might 3/4k instead because you have a perk that actually does something before the game is over. The complaint isn't that it's overpowered. It's that noobs use it to get kills that they shouldn't get. Running Dead Hard will not make you a better or worse survivor. Running NOED will actually make you a worse killer.

I love this thinking. Question, I just want to clarify with you. Do you honestly think that the game is over when you pop the 5 gens and open the gates?

  • I've started to develop a love and appreciation for Lightborn. It's great because 9/10 times the survivors never expect it. It's even better when I toss Starstruck in combination with it. Legit I had some salty survivors call me a trash killer for rocking Lightborn actually 🤣 I couldn't help but laugh.

  • I guess my "main" if I had to pick one, would probably be Nemesis. I want to to main Pig and Legion though. Legion cus I love the customizations on them, being able to be 4 different characters in one, plus I genuinely like their story and want to see more. As for Pig, well SAW is one of my favorite movies, so I LOVE that I get to play as Amanda and put the reverse bear traps on people, and force them to play a game.

Now big problem with Pig and Legion, they're both massively underpowered, I feel like this more applies to Legion as I can manage well enough with Pig. But damn it's painful likeing Legion and playing them x.x
