  • I'm against this idea, and any other suggestions allowing people to get out early because people are not playing the way others want them to.

I just had two miserable matches, where the first was against a Huntress. We had 2 gens left and only 1 hook. 2 Survivors downed, and Huntress hooks one, who kills themself on hook. The other did the same on their second hook. The second had 2 people disconnect the moment they saw it was a Knight. Finally, we had a trial with one guy named something like "Stop DC Penalties" (not the actual name), who disconnected on the loading screen for no real reason, other than a Badham Offering.

The situation is already problematic, without adding yet more ways for people to leave. As you said, this would be abused, so adding something which will a) be knowingly abused, and b) would make it worse, is not something I cam be onboard with.

  • He doesn't need changes. There are plenty of ways to counter it, and whilst on a very rare occasion it's impossible to avoid, the vast majority are avoidable by degrees.

Ultimately, if you're on last hook anyway when down, it's either the Hook, a Mori Offering, or the Torment Mori. There's very little difference.

It's best to learn how to avoid the Trails. They are certainly far less problematic to deal with than his blast. Learn the Killer and, if you really don't want Torment and are cornered between The Executioner and Trails, crouch and take the hit. He may down you, but at least you avoid Torment.

  • Here's mine, based on my initial reaction when I find out I'm against them:

    my-image.png

    S = Amazing!

A = This is gonna be good!

    B = Should be fun!

    C = It's fine.

    D = Oh yay /s

  • None. I'd rather minor tweaks, such as changes in recovery from hitting a Survivor, or minor alterations to speed boosts when being hit.

Making perks basekit will just be opening the flood gates. If "Unbreakable" became basekit, then many would ask for consessions from the otherside. If "BBQ" was basekit, then many would ask for consessions from the other side, and it would keep rolling onwards. One side would feel hard done by, then the other would, and because of how dramatic some perks can change a game, it would just get stupid.

I'm more in favour of altering what is already there and tweaking. Whatever is made basekit will only lead to more avenues of problems further on, I feel.

  • Are you a "spoiled brat" for thinking this? Of course not! Is it "sad" to feel you are forced into the role you don't like? No, it's not.

The reason it's varied is to allow people to experience both roles and diversify the game. Playing the Killer role often improves playing Survivor and vice versa, because you get to see the weaknesses and strengths in finer detail. It also allows players to understand what it's like to play both sides, which expands on mechanical understanding, as well as maybe empathise with the other side. Playing one side only doesn't give that.

Likewise, I can empathise with the frustration of feeling your missing out on rewards because of this. Regarding Tomes though, it's clear you should be playing the appropriate Killer to earn entries regarding those Killers. It's rewarding those who want to experiment or go out of their comfort zone. However, to reiterate, you are not a spoilt brat for wanting this, so don't do yourself down. :)

I dunno if I agree with the sentiment that DBD need's to be taken that seriously. Especially if the game is really not fun and falls into the 'your fun isnt my problem' camp as stated before.

For me DBD doesn't need to be taken seriously, but that's different from saying DBD needs to be played with a certain amount of empathy. It's possible to have fun and not be a jerk. Someone taking their life on a hook is a jerk move, because it affects everyone involved.

I'm willing to make a couple of exceptions to the rule: a) someone kills themself, so that the last Survivor has a chance for Hatch, or b) the game is unplayable, due to some major bug or hefty exploits (but they have to be so big as to make the game truely unplayable). Obviously, b) does not apply to someone feeling a game is unplayable because they got hooked early or had a temper tantrum. Option b) is rare in the most extreme.

  • They should tough it out. Facing a "sweaty Huntress" or a Knight who "three gens from the start" is rare. Very rare. Almost Iridescent!

There have many trials I have been in where things have felt hopeless, yet turned around and resulted in a win. The funny thing is this: if all four Survivors decided to tough it out, what may seem impossible becomes possible. Only when people give up does it become near-impossible.

One example was we did come across a 3-gen Trapper. I was SoloQ, but as Survivors we new about the 8 kick rule being brought in, so we chipped away, jumping from gen to gen and knowing soon he wouldn't be able to kick them. We all escaped - the four of us. If someone just gave up, this would have been much harder.

Any game is a series of puzzles to solve. DBD is no exception. Treat it as a puzzle - those who quit won't get any better at the game. Even in lost-hope situations, there's always something to learn.

  • For me, the game is fine. Disconnects and Survivors killing themselves on hook has dramatically gone down in my trials recently. This behaviour was by far the most problematic to deal with. I'd rather have a player who may not be good but tries, rather than someone who gives up because they are too immature.

I don't understand the talk of "SoloQ is miserable". It's not a sentiment I share. I escape probably a little more than die, and some trials where I died were not helped by people giving up. SoloQ is fine for me; challenging and tough at times, but it can create the greatest moments in this game.

Also, the "your fun is not my responsibility" trope is also rather dumb. Players can play strongly, yet be aware of their behaviours. I can have a strong game as Killer, yet still have time to let a weaker player have a chance, or meme a little. I've had great trials whereby it was competitive, but there would be a brief moment where we mess about. It can be done. "Fun" is subjective anyway, but if somebody is clearly out of their league, it doesn't take an Empath to understand they aren't enjoying it, so give them a little leeway, even if it's just leaving the chase once.

Finally, the "Us v them" mentality is just the ultimate schoolboy playground, brain-drain thought process. It's not "Us v Them" - it's "one person v another". One Killer could play strong but empathically, whilst another would want to see everyone slugged, and another just wants to mess about with some silly build, with the intention of letting everyone escape. Same with Survivor: one plays strong but doesn't mock and focuses on the team, another just hides all game and gets the hatch, another rats on their team, and another may sacrifice themself for the team. It is too basic to think in the "Us v Them" mentality, and probably shows more about their undeveloped view of life than anything else.

Basically, the mindset of some is the biggest issue. Most just play the game and get on with it, enjoying the moment. Some streamers are also to blame for their attitudes, whilst others are the pinnacle of what a player and streamer should be, with much positivity. It's down to the individual ultimately.

  • It's not sonething I'd mind either way, whether it's nerfed or not. There are probably other perks which are in more need of attention than this.

There are notable changes in some Survivor behaviour whenever they've received the Blind status effect and are using WoO; what was normally calm and directive behaviour suddenly becomes panicked and erratic. However, it would be disingenuous to assume all Survivors who use WoO act this same way.

In some cases, WoO can be detrimental to a Survivor who becomes too reliant on it. They may not learn map layouts, and if they do lose the benefits from that 1 perk they may not be prepared. I don't think this is usual.

It's a good perk for players getting used to layouts. I'd be fine if it were to be given some small restriction, such as once in chase it activates for a set period of time while in chase, but if not it's no skin off my back.

  • I'd probably be similar to you. Mine would be:

Skill Checks appear 10% more often when healthy. When injured, skill checks appear 10%/12%/15% more often, and Great Skill Checks add an extra 1 charge on top of what you'd normally receive for a Great Skill Check.

  • Firstly, I certainly hope it isn't Jason! Releasing him as a Killer-only Chapter - especially when there are some great Survivor and Map opportunities - would be a sad waste of the license.

Anyway, I'm all for characters coming from different media, and internet creepypastas and internet horror could be a wealth of opportunity! Since Slenderman is probably the most fabled of these possibilities, I'd love to see him enter the realms.

  • Don't get me wrong: I love facing Myers!

The unfortunate thing are the Tombstone add-ons. A Myers with this can leave a bitter taste in my mouth, and it doesn't feel like the reward is deserved. Even when I've had those add-ons appear in a randomizer, I can't bring myself to trigger it until the Endgame, if we get to that point.

The Hag can be a fun jump-scare Killer, The Doctor isn't so horrendous if you can get to grips with the difficult skill checks, and The Skull Merchant is not a problem now. In fact, she's too much the other way.

The Shape is mostly fun, but the Tombstone involved in a build is not really that balanced. Counterable? Sure, depending on if you have something to vault or a locker to jump into. However, a bit of bad luck and it's screwed.

I hope they update those Tombstone add-ons; maybe they can insta-Mori on the final hook, and in exchange take far less to level to Tier 3 and give the add-on an additional power.

I still find wolf form more annoying as those free haste orbs is annoying and getting second chance to pounce immediately after missing the first is lame, should just have a more punishing recovery to gwt more distance as it reminds me of old xenomorph.

Dont even get e started on hell fire as the fact its a travel attack means it can hit you on stairs on maps with them and triangle head cant do that with potd

I agree with the bat form. The moment I hear The Dark Lord transform into a bat, I just start walking until another notification alerts me of another transformation. Especially on outdoor maps, you can see the Bats coming from a fair distance. The Bat form is useful for covering distance, but careful traversal normally results in safe passage.

  • Robbie existed before Mascot horror was even a thing, and n9thing followed beyond that. Robbie just had a couple of cameos.

He's a bit like The Beatles Helter Skelter song: it was perhaps the first ever heavy metal track, but it sat alone for a bit, before bands like Black Sabbath came in to properly define it.

I played born from a wish in OG SH2

There’s also a subtle reference to it in the remake

At first glance it seemed like a teaser but new game+ says otherwise

and I wouldn’t call the OG born from a wish a DLC….atleast not until the actual dlc comes out it was more of a directors cut content for the game

And dw I’ve played the OG trilogy so I already know most of silent hill and the lore regarding Lisa and Maria being manifestations and how Lisa wasn’t aware of being dead

    I’ve went through this before

And nice I’ve rarely watched any let’s plays besides like a few and right now I wanna get the game achievements to 100% and then I will view all content online

So far I got 3 endings which are the default ones from the OG and now I’m doing a rebirth ending run

Watch out for the extra endings they put in!

  • The Magnus Archives

The first Podcast horror chapter would be amazing, and this would fit right in!

The Survivors could be Jonathan Sims, Martin Blackwood and many others (maybe even Timothy Stoker, if he ever stops kayaking - TMA joke). Perks could include watching through the Killer's eyes, entering a "lonely" dimension to evade a Killer, using "The Eye" to knock Killers back and so on.

The Killers .. well, plenty to choose from. Maybe Nikola Orsinov or the "NotThem" with a power to change the appearance of every character in the trial, as well as add others to create chaos, or maybe The Distortion could transport Survivors into a maze of corridors, where it can warp at will. Many others besides, including some good skins!

Even maps could be fun! Exploring the Magnus Archives, Hill Top Road or Upton House could all be fun!

  • Unlikely, because it's niche, but The Magnus Archives is my current dream. That has so much potential for both Survivors, Killers and Maps, not to mention both are cosmic horrors. Heck, both could exist in each other's worlds in some form!

My two most desired licenses are already in: Silent Hill (a very successful chapter, imo), and Alien (felt like it could have been so much better, sadly - although the map was great). The Magnus Archives to be entered as the first Podcast license would be awesome!

  • Ripley for me. Sidney is a close second, but Ellen Ripley is the champion of protagonists against insurmountable odds.

  • It was an interesting change, but I'm glad they reduced the length, because it could be distracting, as well as a little irritating.

Sure, it's not the worst thing they've done. However, I'm not sure I'd be keen on it returning.

  • It's A Nightmare on January Street!

Seriously, I am please to see the numbers of what they are changing. November jas tweaks to more than just 2 or 3 killers and perks, whilst January almost looks like a Chapter overhaul!

I'm hoping for a Pyramid Head add-on changes in the November Killer tweaks, or if not something soon. Also, I hope Myer's Tombstones get a change. Maybe make it so that the Insta-Mori only works on the final hook stage, like Pyramid Head and his power to make it fairer, in exchange for a reduction in the Evil Within required and perhaps some extra unique powers to compensate.

  • I'm just happy for @GeneralV more than the reworks! Poor chap has been steadfast and loyal towards Freddy for as long as I've known him, and that is absolutely commendable.

BHVR better do something good with Fred! @Mandy It would also be good if they could honour the General in some way, to honour his long-standing service to the cause, since he comes up in your discussions. :D

  • It's got a good chance, judging from a few polls about "most requested license" saw FNAF at the top (it was either FNAF or Friday 13th winning). Resident Evil has the history, but FNAF is a modern favourite and sits in the current popular trend of "Mascot Horror" (I think it was the first big game to really bring it forth).

I got to the point where I feel bad if I deliberately die on hook because it hurts my team. One time, I had a bunch of consecutive matches where I got tunneled, so tried to do it but accidentally kobe'd off the hook. Then I played the rest of the match and we got all four out.

There was also this one time when it felt like a killer was tunneling me, so I went over to him and pointed at him to say "You're a jerk." So then he let me live the rest of the match. I didn't take advantage of his generosity by body blocking or something… just did gens some and got hook saves to be kind of 'neutral' for the match. At endgame, I stood under a hook waiting, but he told me to go out the gate :D

I forget when those matches happened, but I don't give up on hook anymore as a result. My team needs me :)

It's great you got to experience what can happen when you carry on. There was one trial I got hooked twice in the first 5 minutes before anyone else had even been hooked and onle 1 gen done, yet I escaped whilst pulling my weight (had to, after that bad start!).

There have been other trials besides where the big comebacks happen (from both sides), and those are the truely memorable trials which make this game. It feels cinematic, almost! It seems people haven't been dying purposefullt on hook in the last few says neither! There's only been 1 trial where this happened, and the rest have been - regardless of results - fun, because everyone was trying.

This is why I'd rather play alongside a relatively new players, or somebody who perhaps just struggles, who at least try and push forward and learn, instead of a more experienced player who has a hissy fit and dies on hook, then blames everyone but themselves. At least with the former, they learn and see the game for what it is: just a game. Have fun with it, and you get good naturally!

  • That's such a nice addition, Born From A Wish. It was an unexpected DLC to Silent Hill 2, which made Maria's story even sadder. To James, she was simply conjured as a delusion to him, but she was a fully-aware individual, a little like Lisa Garland from the first. Both were products of the town, used for pawns, and whilst Lisa as alive before the events, both were sentient and unaware of what they were. Imagine the trauma of that!

I may not have explained it clearly, but hopefully you get the jist. Anyway, I've been watching CJUgames playthrough overtime, and just seen where James survives the first boss, Pyramid Head. Blooper have done such an amazing job; that trip through the apartments was absolutely smack on the atmosphere, and so well done!

  • (Cheryl Mason tries to join in and picks up the phone)

#Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear ... oh, I forgot your name!#

I’d prefer to keep the activation conditions simplistic, so not having a requirement of multiple survivors.

Thinking about SWF and endurance stuff, it should also add Deep Wounds to the survivor on that self-pickup too, so they couldn’t take advantage of it (endurance effects), and further add a time penalty for that survivor performing the basic self-pickup.

Broken, Deep Wounds, needing to position under hook, and fully recover. Think that might make it as unappealing as possible.

    • Fully Recovered, under hook, can recover the last 5%
    • Becomes Broken, and suffers Deep Wounds

Though if you can elaborate on possible swf strategies I’d be more than happy to hear them.

This idea is a cumulative chimera of sporadic consideration of the topic over years. And certainly could use more facets of consideration to complete it.

The SWF tactic I'm thinking of is distracting the Killer enough for the downed survivor to nearly recover, then get to a hook with the Killer being unable to pick up due to the people around, threatening with flashlights or Head On or whatever, and then timing the get up, so someone can block for the recovered Survivor.

It's why I think there needs to be a limitation such as I previously mentioned. Just to stop such a thing from happening. If you have a possible solution for this, it would be good to hear.

  • I can state now that it's been a good couple of days since I've seen a player suicide on hook. Because of this, it's very notable that even if I lost a trial or two I thought we could have won, I am completely chill with it, because at least everyone tried.

It's a game ultimately, and so long as everyone is trying - even if someone makes a mistake, or isn't as skilled - it still feels fun and enjoyable. It's when someone gives up when frustration hits for me.

Actually, there have been people on these forums that we can definitely tell are lower MMR or average MMR, from their streamer videos.

It doesn’t matter if MMR is a hidden number. We can easily tell from videos, by how the killer is playing, and how the survivors are playing, if the lobby isn’t anywhere near high MMR. And, of course, we look at multiple videos, to make sure these are the types of games that killer is normally getting.

The real problem is when people try to claim that players are a certain skill level because of the number of hours they’ve played, or that a player is an expert with a specific killer because of the number of hours they’ve played that killer. That is far more damaging to the community than guessing someone’s MMR.

We can tell whether they're having good or bad games at a specific time, not necessarily their bracket, although I do get your sentiment. As an example, as a Survivor I'm very inconsistent. One trial I could be an amazing juicer and win the trial effectively, whilst another time I could be the broken cog which causes a potential 4-person-escape to a 4K. A streamer can have good and bad days. So, you can guess or estimate, but not know.

I do hear your point about guessing a skill level based on the number of hours they put in. It's one reason I'm glad Prestige was hidden at the start, because at the end of certain games a P100 would be found to be playing horrendously, whilst the single figure Prestige players would be carrying the team. It just added to snobbiness.

However, it does prove my concern that showing MMR is unhealthy, since people judging because they see a figure is problematic. There are people who will absolutely weaponise this information and become intolerable as a result, even if their escapes were through riding on the backs of others. It's not information BHVR should feel they ever need to share.

they already got 1 million sales

And from what it seems they might be looking forward to bigger things and maybe an Xbox release could be sooner or maybe until October 2025 (probably)

That's the gutting thing about this. As it seems you already know, Playstation have an exclusivity package in place, that no other console can access this for up to a year. That means the 8th October 2025 is currently the earliest it will come to Xbox. It's quite disappointing, and I'm not likely to buy a Playstation just for the game.

At least I have the original and Born From A Wish. Just wish I could have my favourite franchise's latest entry sooner. "Patience is a virtue", apparently! :D

Once a Survivor has recovered to the point they need to seek help, they can either wait for another survivor, or seek to prostrate themselves before the entity: Underneath a Hook, survivors can recover fully, but become Broken until they next enter the dying state.

    • Removes the possibility of survivors leveraging hook distance for free self-pickups, as they'd need to be under hook
    • Adds additional time to the self-pickup by necessitating the Survivor must be under a Hook, which they would likely need to crawl to
    • In the case of multiple slugged survivors, one can perform this self-pickup, then try to recover the other survivors
    • Survivors as disincentivized from leveraging this over healing a dying survivor due to the persistent Broken status.

I would not expect this to be a common occurrence. Just as an exit strategy for the semblance of agency should this scenario occur.

It certainly beats a basekit Unbreakable scenario. Maybe further limit to only being able to be used if either 2 Survivors are down, or there are 2 left and 1 has been slugged. I can imagine a well-coordinated SWF could use it to their advantage if only 1 downed Survivor was needed, and it allows the Killer to punish those moments when Survivors wrecklessly mob to save the fallen.

Otherwise, it's better than anything I could come up with. You may very well have taken my idea of it being unsolvable, and shat on it!

  • We've found out via data miners the MMR exists. There are still some who doubt this, but no amount of evidence will change their mind, so no reason in persuading otherwise.

It's not SBMM. It works like a sports league, where the better the result the higher they go. The issue is there are a fair few variables which impact MMR. Maybe 4K gives the best result, but the time within the trial or how long it's been since someone played that role, impacts on how much the rating goes up. Really, it's RBMM (Results-Based Match Making).

As for people who still use the argument that someone "must be low MMR", fortunately fewer do it, and they are mostly mocked for even trying to use this. I doubt anybody gives any credibility to these sorts of comments anymore. Nobody cares, because it's the internet. I could claim I have beaten Ayrun every time I faced him (obviously, I haven't - not even faced him once!), and other than likelihood, there is nothing to prove or disprove otherwise. People should rightly laugh at those claims, and pity somebody who clearly feels insecure enough to bring it up.

Yet finally, even if we knew our MMR, it doesn't lessen the importance of what they had to say. There are some elitists out there who want it shown, so they can put weight on those who aren't doing so well and give them more value (or so they think), but it makes little difference. The game should be balanced where the most players are. Balancing it because someone in the top 2% says so isn't representative. The whole MMR discussion just needs forgetting about, really

  • It's an unsolvable problem, which is currently not so prevailent in the grand scheme of things. It happens more to some than others. For me, it's extremely rare, but does happen (had it happen once today).

It's unsolvable, because it doesn't matter what incentives Killers get for not slugging, there will always be some players who will slug regardless. Even if those players had the most powerful version of each gen-related perk available, it only takes some pressure, a perceived BM by a Survivor, or something else for them to slug again.

Whichever side somebody is on, be it Killer or Survivor, if there is a way to make the other side unenjoyable, then there will always be some who will do it. Perceived unfairness - gen speeds, healing nerfs, whatever - will always only be excuses to do these things. Even if it's fixed, there will be another excuse.

It's still not common in the grand scheme of things. It'll be when idiot influencers start promoting it in more detail that will be the problem. Maybe they'll recommend it as a tactic. Maybe they'll do it under the guise of pointing out a problem, when it's just for their views. People ultimately have a choice. It's been proven time and time and time again playing for slugging isn't needed for Killers to win, and it says more about the players skill than anything else.

If ever it becomes too common (and I hope it won't) the only option is basekit Unbreakable. It's a poor response, but there is no reasoning in this. The best thing is to just have some empathy and actually understand the pretty clear difference between being honour and just being a dick.

  • Let's hope it's not going to be long!

It's another possibility. I'm starting to get the overall impression this is more some sort of bug or issue with the servers. It's too common to feel it's many people using the same subtle cheat, yet many trials don't feature this at all. I've moved from the cheat perspective. Mext time I'll record it and send to to them as a potential bug.

Thank you, that explains much about what's happening.

yeah I‘ve already heard of that

I don’t even think Konami were planning a PC release either apparently bloober team demanded a PC release

Hopefully there’ll be one sooner if the game does great with sales

Honestly I loved everything bloober contributed and added to the game. The remake is perfect as it succeeded and doing multiple things at once. And as someone who hated layers of fear and pretty much despised bloober for the abomination that was the medium. Honestly good job of them for gaining redemption with SH2 remake

They did a really good job with a lot of the enemy designs and interactions it’s almost perfect

And regarding the flesh lips personally I think for a remake and OTS gameplay…the new take on the flesh lips is great cause in the OG is relied more on claustrophobia and camera angles combo’d with the low health that they have (that not many people know about)

And yes I love what they did with the mandarins in the remake many monsters pretty much had a glow up and became quiet the threat

also good luck avoiding spoilers for the game…it was already quiet the experience for me

hopefully the Xbox port will be out soon enough

I finished it twice and I cried several times out of nostalgia

I'm not so worried about spoilers, since I played the original a few times in the past. It's nice seeing some of the new ideas (the Abstract Daddy fight is pure art, and a lesson in storytelling within a single fight), and possible hints that James is in a spiral. It's a little like Silent Hill is an eternal or at least long-winding purgatory, but that's one interpretation of many, and I hope they don't confirm any concrete lore because mystery is what makes this game best. People don't need the full picture.

I'm still wary of this even now that it's live. I don't see how this isn't encouraging 4k at all costs (tunneling, camping, slugging for 4k all becoming normalized) to get the prize at the end of the match.

There was absolutely a period for me, when it first when live, where most Killers who'd get me downed as the final 2 (or vice versa) would slug to get that final Mori.

Now, I've barely seen it, which is a good thing! However, it doesn't change the fact some may still do this, just to see the Mori in as many trials as possible. I do miss the Cypress Mori Offering, but thankfully the issues for me have been far less wide-spread. That's just from my trials though.

  • Not just a good pallet for Survivors, but should the Killer hurt themselves with the stun, it's not far to get to the NHS it seems!

  • I'm quite saddened to report Xbox players won't be getting this until 2025, but I have watched some videos about it, and it has to be something of a complete surprise to everyone how Blooper managed to pull this off so well! I'm hoping they use this experience to make some cracking games in future, both original and other Silent Hill remakes, because they've appeared to have proven themselves beyond any doubt.

I especially liked the attention to detail, the rather brilliant coding to make the blood trails the Lying Figures produced when they squirm along the floor, the extra exploration, but mostly the boss fights and how they've changed them to make them a new experience. My only niggle is that I'm not sure about Flesh Lips being made into a crawling thing, but fair play for them to make them far more of a challenge than the moving target practice the original was.

The unexpected extra boss fight also looks like a fun way of tributing something which was kinda swept under the floor in the last one. ;)

  • "Moving On" is more lore-accurate.

    Obviously spoilers but ...

    >!at the end of Silent Hill 3 Heather says she will keep the name of Cheryl and stated she would like to keep her hair blonde.!<

This feels more like how she would appear as she got older.

What we call call good and evil is always subjective one day I could call chocolate ice cream good and the next day bad.

Not so subjective if you leave the ice-cream outside overnight! :D

  • It's a strange situation, controlled as much by the consumer as the creators.

Many people want new, exciting stuff, but at the same time people flock towards remakes, sequels and so on. It's been this way for quite some time.

I suppose bringing sequels back may sometimes reinvigorate the creative muse, and in gaming and movies it may inspire others to find out what worked before and come up with something new.

Personally, from a gaming perspective, I hope the Silent Hill 2 remake inspires people to create unique horror games and learn from how it works so well. From a movie perspective, I feel the relatively newer, topical films such Us, Pearl, Midsommer, M3gan and similar opens fresher avenues, rather than another Friday 13th film which is a quick buck.

  • Interesting idea. Not sure I'd buy into it, but then again nobody knows what this thing actually is anyway. Just observations of characters trying to comprehend it from their very limited understanding.

Benedict reported it's pure evil, but again that's from a human perspective. It may not know what "evil" is, or at least doesn't perceive evil as something we'd know it as. I prefer that mystery. When something is explained, it takes away mystique. Everyone then can have their own headcannon.

  • The Executioner needs a more varied add-on, and in fact I feel the devs could do woth looking back on their add-ons for eaarlier Killers for inspiration, as there are a lot of creative ideas back then.

I'd also liked another look at Hillbilly add-ons, because they're rather generic.

Just a general add-on overlook for all Killers, really!

Also, give Freddy and Myers a once over. Poor guys are icons of horror, and need a bit more respect.

  • 1. SoloQ - in design as well as in theory - is perfectly fine. It's not the game which is the issue, but the players.

    2. Players would be much more successful if they were to push through a trial, even after having been hooked within the first minute, instead of giving up. If I can win after having been the recipient of the first 2 hooks, then there's no reasonable excuse anyone else can't.

    3. Disconnection penalties should be harsher, based upon the consistency a particular player disconnects.

4a. BHVR are doing a very good job at the game, although…

4b. ... the suicide on hook and giving up in game is easily enforceable, but my belief is they - for some reason - cannot be bothered dealing with it, due to how many tickets they'll get. This, I do believe is more about how many extra tickets they would get, rather than any desire to deal with it. Their arguments regarding this are flimsy at best.

5a. Perk design currently is becoming more uninspired, but I do not think it is down to a lack of ideas, but more a rush to get Chapters out there. They need to slow down, at least for 1 year, and focus on newer designs, or even experiment with existing perks to create new ideas. Despite this ...

5b. ... DBD does not need a "health Chapter". They need to have a more robust testing team and either more employees dedicated to that section, or an outside third party to analyse the coding they have. Even then though, it's much better than before.

    6. Maybe not such a hot take, but DBD needs Eddie, Angela and a new Maria cosmetic for the Silent Hill Collection.

and finally, unrelated to DBD yet relevant in current horror gaming:

[Bonus 7]: The most realistic ending for Silent Hill 2 is **Leave**.
