That many players lack a sense of self-awareness. They'll blame perks, bad team mates, campers; yet they probably are also prone to be making many mistakes and probably exaggerate their experiences.
That someone may have an opinion, sees a popular streamer making a video on that same ideology, and they share it, only to be called "sheep" and devoid of intelligence, even though they already had that thought in place. As if, just because you share an opinion with someone well known, you now have to change it because you may be just copying them or some #########? It's a really dumb assumption to think people are sheep because of this.
The boredom of the DBD doesn't care about survivors/ killers/ players/ streamers/ hamsters/ pineapple on pizzas topics gets to me.
Finally, the over-dramatisation of everything: The game is dying! Survivors/ Killers are all disgusting people! Survivors can't win because of DH nerf! Just get some bloody perspective and chill already - think about the situation before you start ranting.
They're my chief gripes and unppular opinions.

i have haunting grounds on my ps3 :)) its just hard to play since it's the jpn version so i cant get pass like the first hour since i dont understand the text and clues :(
duuuudeee wtffff i never heard or seen Eternal Darkness but im already interested by the little ive seen from youtube (currently on ebay looking for a good price) :)
Basically, if you imagine the insanity system from "Amnesia" and crank it up many, many time, that's what it's lije. A lot of fun!

Currently, I'm also playing:
_State of Decay 2_ (an excellent Walking Dead style game of base building, survival and some tricky battles)
_Rimworld_ (it finally came to Xbox! Brilliant story generator of trying to survive after crashing on to a unknown planet. Very deep, and currently there are no mods, but it's being discussed)
_Slay the Princess_ (A horror-comedy game following in the vein of The Stanley Parable, and featuring 2 big names from horror podcasts: Nichole Goodnight from The NoSleep Podcast, and Jonathan Sims from The Magnus Archives)

Pyramid Head's missing butt is on that island too, apparently.

although anything that can fly would be cool i feel, i'd love to see that regardless of whether it's licensed.
Love a second Silent Hill chapter too, although I'd gun for a _Silent Hill 4: The Room_, with Henry Townsend and Eileen Galvin as survivors, and Walter Sullivan (the Orphan) as the killer. I'd love some of those floaty spirits chasing survivors and inflicting damage or status effects on them.

I'd like him to be a fun killer to play as or against. If he's only fun for one side (either as an S Tier destroyer, or a mockery) it'll be a waste.
His power, in my head, sounds fun and reminds me a little of a charge attack like Hillbilly or Demogorgon's lunge, with a bit of the Twins pouncing over objects. The idea of smashing survivors into things also sounds entertaining. Finally, a killer who utilises _hindered_ as basekit for his power could make him a great chaser.
Should make for some exciting chases, if this is the case.
-
A few times, yes. A couple which stood out in particular:
1. A survivor accused me of hacking the game because there was no way I ought to know which locker he was in and I found it straight away. Probably understandable, considering nobody at the time ran "Spies from the Shadows" equipt, and I just so happened to have it and was alerted to a crow outside a couple of lockers, and as there were no scratchmarks it was an educated guess.
2. Quite recently, I was accused of hacking on to the hatch and blocking it. I was Onryo, and they were running towards a tv, so I took the opportunity and the hatch conveniently spawned a few metres right in front of me. That was just pure luck on my behalf, but they refused to believe that there just so happened to be a tv there and the hatch a) would never have spawned there and b) I put a block, meaning they could not escape before I closed it. I closed it, before they arrived at it.
-
There's not enough in place to prevent them from buying, and also those who may be found out aren't exactly scared because nothing is done about it.
You are right that kids ought not be playing this game, but sadly there's pretty much bugger all stopping them from playing, nor any real care in them purchasing it in the first place.
Heck, if a 16 year old can go into 23 shops in the UK with no ID and purchase knives at 15 of them, stopping kids from buying adult games is a losing battle.
-
Doing chases as Plague, thinking it was bugged as I couldn't infect them, only to realise at the end I forgot to remove the Prayer Tablet Fragment.
-
1. The ability to perch or jump from the top of hook to hook, then dive attack.
2. The ability to temporarily disable survivor perks.
3. The ability to multiply into a few versions of themself, splitting the terror radius, but only one of the versions is the killer.
4. Manipulation of sound.
5. A killer able to dissolve into worms and use them to traverse and poison survivors.
6. The ability to reshape and reconfigure walls of loops and barriers.
7. To be able to cast off a falcon into the air and use it to look down on the map to see where survivors are and what they are doing.
8. A killer which utilises fire and heat as a weapon.
9. A killer that uses false totems, chests or even copies of injured survivors to lure others into a trap - like a cosmic angler fish.
10. A killer which becomes stronger the more you look at it, and weaker the more you avoid looking at it.
11. A killer which can plant a marker that stretches over a large area, and within that area can increase various powers.
12. A killer that can set up technology around the map such as motion sensors, cameras and attack drones.
There are lots of potential powers. These are just some that I thought of whilst typing - some may hhave been things I might have come across, and others are ideas that I just thought up. But there's still tons of potential, so long as some stop obsessing over the next S tier killer and look to be creative.

The problem did feel in my games more caused by quitters than any game changes. With even journeyman survivors, if all four are playing their best, the matches can be tough but still feel winnable (at times!).
As survivor, the matches feel much more rough (in a good way) and challenging. The killer is someone to be feared, and a lot more care is needed to overcome then. However, when that escape is made, it feels like a earnt victory and feels good. Certainly better than before.
As killer, I feel like a very real threat. I can see the benefits of the changes that makes it feel more commanding. Also, when I lose a trial, it feels like survivors had to work hard. Even messages after trials have been better (although, as Onryo, I think survivors are just glad of the change in killer!).
But quitters were the real problem definitely.
-
A side from this, there is a ... not a theory, because there's no evidence whatsoever to back this ... but an idea that went around that people's creative ideas and dreams are somehow "beamed in" from other dimensions. So things like "A Nightmare on Elm Street" or "The Thing" actually existed in another reality. The Entity could well be using this to push into other areas, or simply be beamed across, like a podcast or tv show. If that were the case, there are many other Entities out there I'd rather not come across (The Magnus Archives, for instance - I don't want that apocalypse!).
Again, it's more fantasy to me, but it's a fun daydream. ... unless it was real ... :S
-
I'm probably wrong, but it feels like everything bar the consciousnesses of the people within the trials are nothing more than the shards and auric cells that make the realms. The consciousnesses remain to experience suffering, terror and pain, and the cells and shards provide the bodies with which to feel everything. But the bodies have been far too mangled by now - the original compositions np longer exist in my headcannon.
-
The Doctor revelled in torturing people for his own sick ends. Out of all the original killers, he has no redeeming features and even the way he goes about the trial he's absolutely enjoying the pain he's dishing out.
-
Not so much that you have to play perfectly - moreover for the other side to not play as well as you, either throughout or in one moment of madness. I've even had 4ks which I know were not deserved, and escapes that could only be down to pure luck.
There are lots of factors involved, but from experience most successes are made through mistakes from the other side and how those mistakes are taken advantage of.

at least they are trying to do something which is effort
Exactly. Appreciate who you're actually with. And it only takes one great move to change the tide.
When I was learning there was one match where I didn't do particularily well, but in the final moments the killer picked up one survivor who was dead on hook and I pulled off an absolutely flukey torchlight save through a gap in the wall. We all got out. And although I really didn't do that well through most of it, a survivor messaged me after to say "Godlike save, my dude!".
It just takes one good move at the right time, and it can make all the difference.
-
For survivors, I'd like to see:
• A survivor who had actually escaped the realm, but returned once they realised how much destruction was causing upon their world, so they return.
• A scientist from a future civilization, who was using future tech to understand the Entity, in hopes of defeating it.
• A pilot from around World War 2.
• A cult member who worshipped the Entity, but now understands the truth.
• A politician, who perhaps is like Yun-Jin Lee has perks which work like manipulating others (for example, if their scratch marks cross path with another survivors, then theirs disappears for a few seconds).
• A dustbin man. Someone very ordinary who started to see some extraordinary things.
For killer:
• A killer that embodies a specific fear, like the fear of being watched, and is a creature made within the realms as a result of all that is happening.
• A lost troop, so it's one killer, but it can multiply into a small group of soldiers, although only one could actually harm anyone.
• A killer that comes from a steam punk world, who has been tortured and fitted with steam devices by the Entity (I miss the time when killers looked like tortured souls, caused by the entity).
• A neanderthal, fpr a chaotic style of killer.
• A physically disabled killer, taking some inspiration from "The Sculptor" in Identity V, or "The Eye of Adam" from The Cat Lady - someone able to create some sort of projection or manipulate survivors in some way.
• A killer that maybe knew Nea as a fellow graffiti artist, but was taken by the Entity and changed into a killer which is basically graffiti art, and can transfer from walls to floors to ceilings in its form.
-
Cheryl has been burnt, tortured, had her soul split in 2, lived in a nightmare, reincarnated but spent the entirity of her life on the run, forced into more nightmarish worlds, lost her father via murder, made pregnant with a god that caused disgusting pain and had to fight said god.
Can't think of anyone of the licensed characters who could possibly have suffered more.
-
Personally as solo, I like to borrow from Dwight's quote from his Bond perk: "We have to work as a team! I need you to survive so that I can survive!".
So it's self-serving, but understanding it only takes an early death to destroy the game, and I'd rather a player who is at least trying to survive than a cop-out who just suicides on hook. An extra distraction for the killer, at least.
-
I always and randomizers choose my builds, so no. However, if there was one I'd do it with, it would actually be Spies from the Shadows, because it's an unexpected and pretty useful perk survivors may not figure out.
Even got accused of cheating because of it, as a survivor hid in a locker after the last hook, but a crow nearby sensed her and alerted me.
-
Probably not. Not that it's uncounterable (e.g.: count an extra few seconds before leaving a locker if you suspect BBQ, which is still pretty common), but there are add-ons and other perks that it boosts which are less easy to know.
-
It's back. It's a great combo that is also counterable, making this quite welcome in my eyes.
-
I'm all for a HUD that allows me to see what other survivors are doing. _Identity V_ has that in place, and it helps solo survivors coordinate that little bit better.
I don't think DS should be basekit, and having it cancel after the final gen is done is good. However, definitely revert it to a 5 second stun (or at least start the 3 second stun from when the survivor is able to move, and not include it in the drop).
Kindred as basekit... I'm in 2 minds: on the one hand I see how it would help, but on the other side it feels like a lot of hand-holding. I may be okay with it working a bit more like it showing the auras for a few seconds, but with the HUD changes it may be a bit ott. I'd be happy instead that if a killer stays within a certain distance from the hook, and no other survivor is in the vicinity, after a few moments the Entity moves the hooked survivor to another hook. A bit like Pyramid Head's cages, except the survivor doesn't transport regardless of whether other survivors are nearby. It would discourage face-camping.
Otherwise, give survivors a brief Sprint Burst effect once unhooked to punish a tunnelling mentality, whilst not eliminating the threat entirely - survivors shouldn't feel safe; a threat has to be there. But it would punish the killer more pursuing.
-
With DS deactivating entirely once all gens are done, it would make some sense to revert the stun to 5. Anyone playing killer no longer has that concern that a survivor will use DS for a cheap escape, and if DS is used to deter the act of tunnelling, then it needs to be a viable anti-tunnel perk. I've not used it, but have faced it as killer and it's just a mild inconvenience. Those extra couple of seconds do punish the killer for being greedy, so I'd certainly be for that returning (but keep the deactivation after the final gen - that's a good change).
-
With camping - and I mean actual face-camping, not proxy - I'd like to take a leaf from Pyramid Head. If a killer stays too close to a hook for a period of time, and there are no survivors nearby, then the survivor gets transported to another hook on the map. It may discourage camping and also help survivors in solo q who find it harder to communicate.
Alternatively, give the unhooked a Sprint Burst after being freed, although that may not stop a tunneller (although it would certainly waste their time).
Ultimately, if the first option was combined with a HUD update that allows you to know what other survivors are doing (gens, totem, chase, etc.), I'd be happy with that. Not sure about basekot Bond, but with the Kindred bit, so long as the HUD was in place, viewing if the killer is close by m9ght be enough.
-
These statements aren't helpful at all like you, I play both sides at 50/50 and it's true at the start that there were a lot of dc's. However, I've noted my teams are becoming better, strategising and communicating a lot more. My last match was a 4k escape against a decent Wraith, and it was because we were fully communicating as best we could using pointing and other methods, where we managed to get out of a 3 gen we found ourselves in. It was tough, but we did it.
Some players are dicks, and those dicks split amongst survivors and killers. It's not the side, it's the individual. And it's far better to practoce empathy. My experiences have been good on both sides, but if I were to assume that everyone else needed to "gitgud" just because of what I had, without understanding their opinions are equally valuable and personal, is poor.
Basically, these comments widen divides, and really people need to listen more as to why the others feel a certain way and then work together. Nowhere near all survivors are quitters.

Well, i disagree with you. I understand where you come from, but i dont share your approach.
I belive, if somehting is op, it doesnt matter how often it accured in a game, it shouldn´t be there. Your approach seem to be, as long as it doesnt happen too often, it doesnt matter how op it is. Well, everyone has his own opinion.
But people taking killer and use this tactics is actually good if you follow my approach, because you get way more data on that tactics, and you can see how often they result in a 4k or any k. So you can figure out faster if something needs to be done about this tactics.
I see your viewpoint, and whilst I don't agree it is clear we both want what's best for the game, or at least have best wishes that it needs to be better, even if our approaches differ.
There is the point of increasing the frequency of a situation to highlight it, and I understand that. My view isn't as you put it exactly, but it's clear how you can come to such a conclusion as there are points which add to that. But my thoughts are that currently it's already on the increase, so if that increase is being noted then the devs don't need additional people pointing out what already is happening. The action will just upset more people and it's not how the person wants to play anyway.
So, as you say, we agree to disagree, but I appreciate your view a little more and thank you for being decent. Take it easy!
-
My feeling is survivors are learning and adapting. A lot of quitters may have left, meaning you're more likely to be put with or against people who want to learn and play. Those who are in that group will also be learning to communicate better. A recent 4k escape against a Wraith had us all working as a team, especially when we 3-gen'd ourselves; putting out a spot to retreat and heal to, and splitting into 2 teams to attack the 2 gens furthest apart. It worked, but was tough.
The benefit of playing through the changes is becoming a better player as a result. And it is becoming more noticeable and my fellow survivors are, at the very least, fighting to the end.
-
I'm unsure there is an effective counter with builds, because unless you are able to know the build and killer in advance then you'll never effectively be able to create a productive counter build.
It's moreso about being reactive to it and how the killer plays. It's a tough build to take on for sure.
-
Sometimes, I wish those who dc could see the end game results. It would be funny to dc because they had a hissy fit, only to see the other 3 escaped. Especially if they predicted a certain build and dc'd because of that.
A trial recently I had as The Onryo had 2 dc's early on. I only wish that they could see my build (because I randomise it) ... Hex:Thrill of the Hunt and Unnerving Presence! Absolutely terrible perk randomiser!

Camping and tunneling were issues before, and the devs (and most killers) not only call it a valid strategy, they also buffed it with longer gen times and shorter chases.
So using a valid tactic that got buffed is now a manipulation? Are only people who tunneled and camped before allowed to do it?
How would that give false data? On how often that tactic is used? On how often it results in a 4k? What data exactly do you think is falsifyed here?
@CyberRoninX said:

If your choice of playing skews any of the metrics that the devs use to determine buffs/nerfs then its probabaly not a good idea to play that way. Problem is that, based on the responses I got on my post, people just don't care and will do what they want even if it creates a poor gaming experience for a certain group like solo. I do agree with the idea of transporting a survivor to another hook on the opposite side of the map if the killer is camping. That would solve the issue of both camping and tunneling imo.
@sulaiman The data being falsified is because people choose to play a different way in protest, as opposed to playing how they want to, in an attempt to alter data that could have a more dramatic response because of a sudden surge. You said it was happening before - we know - and if killers decide to do it more after the update then the devs will notice and it may change. However, if every killer did this then the devs may completely overcompensate. Also, it would be making a situation way worse than it is. And we still don't honestly know how many of those who claim this happens actually have experienced it, misinterpreted a situation, or flat out lying. It clearly happens, and some have shown evidence. But I highly doubt everyone who claims it actually suffers from it.
It's like not being happy with bin collections every fortnight when they used to be weekly, so people dump the rubbish and let vermin get to it and claim this is what fortnightly collections do, when they have plenty of room still, or too lazy to sort it. It harms more than it helps.
Let data happen naturally. If this is increased, it will show to the devs. And put suggestions through. Heck, bombard the devs! But don't ruin other people's fun just because you want to make a point. It's obvious already - why make a silly decision to prove what's already there?

Tired of people plugging their ears and burying their heads in the sand.
This update SUCKS for casual Survivors.
I don't really think it needs time, I'd rather just not play at all tbh. I get maybe one good match a night. Not worth it lol
I feel this quote is the important one: Personally, I'm really enjoying the changes. However, people who were new who came in before already had a bad time with MMR, but now it's tougher it may very well put off newer players who suddenly find themselves in the path of a Special Forces Nurse assassin. It will put people off, and during my killer matches I'm assessing each trial to give everyone a faor crack, depending on skill.
It may have been helpful to at least put information on survivor icons to show what others are doing, so at least there is more information available for solo players. I'm more surprised currently there are no plans to consider this the following midchapter. That would absolutely encourage more casual players to come in, I feel.

Due to Scourge Hooks. You may not be able to stop the hook, but you can definitely stop the Scourge Hook. No Floods of Rage, No Gift of Pain, No Pain Resonance. You can completely shut down their game plan, and if you're really lucky, they might even lose the carry because the Survivor squeaks out.
You could possibly couple it with Break Out and maybe Mettle of Man to get stacks and help the Survivor escape.
Really great strategy.
It's a good role to play and can work (not so luck if the killer has Agitation and/or Iron Grasp), but saving survivors, combining it by being good in chase and a pain in the killer's side, can win trials easily.

Yea I tried to address this when I posted about killers letting survivors live and all I got was a bunch of killers saying they will do what they want or that they let full teams survive all the time. I had a guy post a picture out of spite of him letting all the survivors go in a match. I was also told that BHVR probably accounts for this when figuring out kill rates. So if that's the case then I'm gonna say that they are accounting for people that tunnel and camp on purpose.
If there is a noted increase in this tactic since the patch, then it will eventually be addressed, but having everyone camp on purpose may result in something far worse.
There are choices in how to play, but if there is a type of play you despise, to then emulate this seems counterproductive.
Don't get me wrong: I don't like face-camping (not really worried about tunnelling or proxy camping), especially if its not needed (face-camping endgame I understand though), but this is the wrong way, and I'm sure you're not going to enjoy your games doing it. And why waste your gaming time playing it in a way you won't enjoy?
As a side, they could cpmbat face-camping perhaps either by adding a speedboost to the freed survivor, or taking a leaf out of Pyramid Head and transport a survivor to another hook if the killer is too close for too long (although after all gens are done I'd cancel this effect).
-
The current system is adequate, and not sure how a player who dc's because of an emergency at home will want to come back to a game that's so harsh.
Maybe they can bump up the timeout for consistent dc's in short succession, but again it could be seen as a bad connection (although I'd argue that maybe they ought to fix a connection that's that terrible).

If the game dies because of camping/tunneling its because BHVR refuses to do something about it not because people are doing it. Every match ive played today has been nothing but camping and tunneling and I've played for about 6 hours today.
Yes, but you would be manipulating a situation to a worse point. That isn't BHVR, that's the player.
There are going to be changes in future that can only be useful with proper data. The proposal you presented will only give false data that will mess things up and besides there will be adjustments in future. Suggestions are far more useful.
When I play killer, I shall not be doing this.
-
This is not a good idea. One reason why is because it works both ways. If survivors suddenly find every killer face camps, this will spiral. People may not like a change, so unite and do something to force a fake, unrealistic scenario in the hope of change, and when that change is made and people return to normal, then there will be huge discrepencies again.
Another reason is that many more will leave, and if every killer is doing it then everyone simply won't play and the game completely collapses.
There are other reasons, and people may be able to illistrate even better ones, but as far as ideas go this is really problematic and rigs data.
-
Survivors are definitely adapting in my games, and my thinking is that more have realised it's better to adapt and overcome than to just quit, and the results are better trials. Glad you're getting good games, and yes there will be some bad but that's always been and most likely always will be the case.
-
Feels similar to my experiences. The disconnects have died down and more survivors are trying now, which make the games far more enjoyable. I did get one dc today and 1 afk, but only one afk the survivor session before. Killers were fine to face. A couple of really tough games, one of which I escaped and another I died.
Basically, enjoying the new patch, but feel when survivors are rescued they could get a Sprint Burst for 3 seconds. It's still easy to tunnel and that may dissuade it a b8t better.
-
I liked the darker maps, and the survivor stationary animation (not a fan now of every survivor standing like an anime hero).

_State of Decay 2_ and _Rimworld_ are two games that are very enjoyable as longer games: the former is pretty much playing your own "The Walking Dead" series, with the monsters coming out of_Left 4 Dead_ , and the latter a brilliant base-building sim with an amazing amount of customization and mods!
For a horror experience, _The Cat Lady_ , _Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem_ and _Haunting Grounds_:
The Cat Lady is a dark 2d horror based upon a lady who is dealing with heavy depression and through some twists of fate is elected to kill 7 other evil people, but also forced to deal with her own mental state. It does deal with dark themes like suicide, cancer and torture, but is also a trip through dealing with the darkness.
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem has you play as several people in several different time frames, from the Gulf War to the Roman Empire, which all links towards a great Lovecraftian conclusion. It also has a sanity system which enjoys breaking the fourth wall.
Haunting Grounds is a Clock Tower style game as you play a lady who is captured in a castle and has to escape the denizens who chase her for various purposes, from jealousy to hate to perversions, and all the while relying on your wits and a doggie you come across. Tense stuff, and also Fiona and Danielle would make a great chapter for DBD!
-
Yes please!
-
I'm having a really good time as solo q! It wasn't always like this at the start: the survivor disconnects were bad and there was still a lot of adjusting to the changes.
However, I'm assuming I've been quite lucky, or there is some blip in the mmr where people who don't dc are being put with others who don't, because for the past couple of days I have had a fair number of survivor matches and only one afk (not even a dc!) team mate. Everyone is working well as a team, and whilst my survival is about 50/50 currently, even if I don't make it I've contributed, as with my other survivor players. I've also not encountered one face camping killer. A few proxy-campers, and whether survivors were near or not they may have had their reasons. So my experience has been good!
However, I can empathise woth those who don't. My builds are always random, and I'm starting to learn Onryo (which I love, by the way!), and I had a couple of matches where there were dc's for early downs. I only wish those guys could see what perks I was running: One was Hex: Thrill Of The Hunt and Unnerving Presence; the other Grim Embrace ... that's it! If they had stayed around they may have found a way to win, but instead they ruined the match. And ultimately, from my experience only, the biggest nerf to survivor out of everything is the quitters.
-
Been dying since 2016, apparently...
Nah, it's not. The only measure we have is Steam, which is a small portion of the total playerbase. The fact it's still bringing franchises in is proof enough that it's not dying.

A good job, yes ... but everyone forgott new players, i think dbd was never friendly for new players, but now it is really hard.
It's a shamenwe don't have data to confirmnhow many were new and how many were returning, and in terms of who is remaining what percentage is new and what is returning.
