I already don't understand liking Kate, so if anyone sticks with her after this update, I'm gonna be so confused.

So is Victor, just crouch.

K. If that's what you believe, nothing I say will change your mind. I'll keep succeeding in defiance of your claims.
No you won't.
Just saying.
-
Twins' camping isn't even good. Victor doesn't reveal Survivors to Charlotte if you're crouching, so just crouching towards the hook will render camping with Victor useless. Crouch up, kick him, and enjoy your safe unhook.
As for camping with Charlotte? She's a 115 M1 Killer with no power that you have a 16-meter head start on when you unhook someone, not including the three-second wakeup. If you can't loop that for a while, that's entirely on you.
Not to mention, the Borrowed buff from the mid chapter was a HUGE nerf to their camping potential anyways. You can always get BT off against Twins now, regardless of which Twin is camping.
-
I've tried to tell people this, and I usually get the response of "Oh, well it's quiet so most Survivors don't hear it."
And it's like... no. It is literally just the first layer of his Terror Radius without a heartbeat. It's a wall of electrical humming and buzzes and weird environmental noise that is VERY distinct from the normal sounds of the game. It is very discernible.
Also, how did you get your HUD's Survivor icons to look like that?

I disagree with you, for several reasons. First the number of games where I can do literally nothing as Killer are few and far between. Sometimes you get bad spawns and ta gen gets done before you can cross the map, but after that it's not too hard if you're up against equally-skilled opponents to regain control of the match quickly. Pressure gens, get downs and do whatever it takes to regain momentum and dominance. Including slugging, camping or whatever will work. Don't play like an AI and you'll find your games more interesting on both sides.
If you as a Survivor are safe enough to sit on gens all game then either you are against a vastly less-skilled Killer or you are avoiding interacting with the Killer. If the former, nothing you can do about that. If the latter, maybe don't just be a gen jockey. Do bones. Get the Killer's attention and run them for a while. Focus on saves. But just holding M1 on a gen and nothing else? That's your fault for only being able to do gens.
You know why you don't have games where you can't do anything as Killer most of the time?
Because MMR isn't on.
You lost me at "pressure gens" by the way, you can have the fastest chases known to mankind and it just won't matter if you're not playing a Killer who as both good antiloop AND good mobility because otherwise by the time you've gotten the first hook of the match and gone to pressure someone else, three gens have been done.

You both assert that most people don't find challenging games fun, but provide no evidence of that fact. We can't have a discussion on a point we haven't even established an agreement on or verified as true yet, especially when many people have said otherwise. Working MMR will lead to some games being easier as your skill improves while others are harder as you get moved up to more skilled opponents. By not doing your best when playing, you give incorrect data to the system and make it hard for it to work correctly.
The issue is that you're asserting that sweat matches are "challenging". There's nothing "challenging" about sweat matches in this game. A challenging game is fun. Dying instantaneously because a Spirit brought headphones and good addons or having your ability to chase and apply pressure be rendered irrelevant because Survivors REALLY wanted to hold down M1 while staring at a metal cube isn't challenging, nor is it fun. You're practically watching a cutscene by that point. I didn't come to watch a cutscene. I came to play the video game. I find no challenge in these scenarios because my skill as a player is completely and utterly irrelevant.

Some people enjoy challanging and sweaty games. and if mmr matches those players together i think thats ultimatively a good thing.
- There’s gonna be very few people who enjoy that.
- Especially not me, so why should I be punished by going against these people?
- By “challenging” do you mean “my ability to do well is literally irrelevant because the other side wanted to sweat harder”?

Do you think you could ask them?
Maybe they can type a doc explaining it?
Alright, I asked him to explain what he means. This was his response.
“From what I know, Dead By Daylight uses one raw script that loads every single character and perk asset in the game regardless of if they are being used in the match. This means that, for example, Huntress assets like her hatchets and her point gain events are loaded even if Huntress isn’t present in the match. Having a single long script with every character’s data causes performance issues when a character is called into play later on due to the game having to find their data in the script to call upon.”
“Eventually, performance degrades to such a point that the game may stutter until it finds the correct character data to load into memory. Games with multiple characters usually compile seperate scripts of data that are loaded depending on if said character is in play; this is not the case with Dead By Daylight, since this game was built on “blueprints” made generically by other UE devs. The optimal loading method is to have all killer and survivor perks on one script, and all killer powers on individual scripts that can be called upon when that killer is present. If you notice, depending on what killer you are playing, the game may perform with more stutter or less depending on where the killer’s code is in the script.”
“That’s the gist of it. Also, the game stutters worse depending on what survivor is loaded into the lobby, with the four original survivors with their original clothing causing the least amount of stutter.”
”Also because of this ######### one-script method, it allows hackers to spawn in and use different killer powers regardless of if they are playing a different killer. Normally, spawning in a different character asset not present in that level would crash the game. Look at Left 4 Dead 2, spawning the bride witch on a stage she is not present in will crash the game.”

That's exactly what you get with MMR. Unless you're saying you treat winning the game like it's your life's work and don't want to face opponents of the same mindset.
I swear all of this MMR doomsaying is people who are under the delusion that they're a god-tier player just because they're a red rank, when the whole point is that rank isn't a measure of skill and you're actually not the god-tier player you think you are. If you were, you wouldn't have anything to worry about, you could handle anything.
I had a survivor match earlier, it was a rainbow of ranks, I was rank 15 (down from 7 in the last reset), and I had a rank 2 survivor, a rank 1 killer and two other green/purple survivors. Yet it was the fairest, most balanced game I've ever played. 12 hooks, 1K, and 1 got the hatch. Genuinely never had such a satisfying game, that didn't cause me to 100% sweat, or feel completely hopeless, or steamroll the killer.
You all keep regurgitating Tru3T4lent and ScottJund with their "you'll only ever face Stridor Spirit and 6000 hour Nurses" as if you are the 6000 hour expert streamer yourself. 95% of players are not those players. MMR will work brilliantly for 95% of players, as it has been for me.
No, we’re not “regurgitating” anything. My experience with MMR has been completely terrible. Multiple of my friends are in a similar boat. The person who made this thread had the most polarizing matches of the century yesterday. His matches were either against literal new players, or sweat squads with over 4,000 hours per player.
People like him and I don’t sweat. We’re just good at the game. And MMR punishes us being good at the game but still wanting to play for fun by putting us up with people who may not even be the best but will try to win like their very existence depends on it once our MMR inevitably climbs. That’s what it’s done every single time MMR has been turned on.

Unnerving Presence is a very, very old Perk that hasn't been able to keep up with the game's current state. I personally think all of Trapper's Perks as well as Trapper himself could use some love. They're all very outdated by this point.

Unfortunately, I do not. Like I said, it was through the grapevine. But the person who told me is an aspiring coder, if that is noteworthy.

I heard through the grapevine that every single asset for every single Killer is loaded into every match, regardless of what Killer you're playing.

Is the collision removed altogether or does Charlotte have collision for 30 seconds? If she has collision at stuff like vaults and doors, maybe you can still use her to bodyblock those.
She has it for 30 seconds before it goes away.

I don't get that. I've been getting teammates who are generally around my skill level. I have almost 1400 hours and in the old matchmaking system I sometimes got teammates who literally had 80 hours. I want to have teammates that have around the amount of time spent in the game as me and that's what MMR does.
Yeah, MMR is working.
And that's the problem. Once you get to the higher levels of MMR, the game is a dumpster fire. This game is one of the least fun, if not the least fun, games to experience a sweaty enemy team in. And EVERYONE sweats once your MMR is any levels of high. So the game because unenjoyable.
-
@daggersnight said:
Charlotte losses collision? The ability to body block certain places was a hidden talent of the twins. Why would they take that away?
Possibly because it could create hostage situations like on Badham. I don't really think it was a good change, but I can see why they made it. What I don't understand is why they didn't tell anyone.

You having a conversation with your likely nonexistent wife and a company’s lack of transparency with their customers in regards to alterations they made to a product are two very different things. The point of the patch notes is telling us what is different. That is LITERALLY WHY THEY EXIST. If the patch notes aren’t telling us what’s different, something is wrong.

So there was a spaghetti code bug they corrected it. Are you seriously here whining about it? And for all you know the Charlotte not body blocking is a bug also (wouldn't surprise me personally) that will get fixed. This is dbd mang, the land of mystery and bugs and band aids, can't really complain about it at this point.
Firstly, I still am of the stance that this was not a bug fix as Victor’s interactions with PWYF were much more in-line with his not-a-Killer status before. That is a shadow nerf, through and through.
Secondly, did you even read the post? The collision loss is NOT a bug. It is a 100% deliberate, intentional change. There is an entire block of coding for the collision loss that WAS NOT THERE before the 4.7.0 PTB.
All three of the changes they made in this patch were 100% intended, and they were never, not once, brought up. Three substantial changes to Twins that were not mentioned in any way. The sheer negligence/lack of transparency here is what I’m upset with.

The killer IS ATTACKING. it's THE TWINS, not THE CHARLOTTE.
I’ve already explained that Victor isn’t classified as a Killer according to the game’s coding, which is why Perks that affect the Killer don’t affect Victor.
But again, that’s not the point of this post. I’m not here to harp on about PWYF, though trust me, I could do that for hours. The point of this post is calling out these shadow-changes and how they were never disclosed by BHVR in any capacity.

I get that you don't want to admit that Victor's pounce is a special attack, but it's obvious to everyone else that it is, most importantly that's how bhvr sees is and it's even in the twins description . It was obviously a bug that it didn't consume stacks, so they fixed the bug.
@some_guy1 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2256275#Comment_2256275
bear traps, zombies, rbts are not special attacks because they dont attack anything (except zombies are just ai controlled npcs that are counted as "special enemy" and dont performs any special attacks)
victor is a power that has a pounce special attack that should consume tokens since it's a special attack
take deathslinger as an example
deathslinger's gun is a power that can shoot, shooting it counts as a special attack this means it should consume pwyf tokens
The Killer isn’t attacking. It’s not a special attack. Plain and simple. The devs can claim it’s a special attack, but they also consider Clown’s bottles and Doctor’s shock to be special attacks, so should we really trust their reasoning?
But you guys are completely missing the point of this post anyway. Whether or not it should be in the game is completely irrelevant, so I’m not going to entertain your arguments anymore if you want to keep talking about it. What is relevant is the fact that, bug fix or not, this was a gigantic Twins change that, just like the other two changes listed, were not mentioned at all in the patch notes. That’s what this post is about, not PWYF.
-
@Crowman said:
On #2, if victor is being considered a killer now does this mean being chased by victor could give you chaser points?
That's always been one of those things that I really disliked the twins for.
He's not being considered a Killer. They simply nerfed this one aspect of him not affecting PWYF stacks. On every other front, Victor still is not considered a Killer, including actually getting the benefit of going faster from PWYF tokens.

https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/0IXVCYR0AWHJ/87547f8ded4f6fb05da9798e43cddf43.png
If it's a special attack, then why aren't bear traps? Or zombies? Or RBTs?
Charlotte is not making an attack. Coding-wise, "the Killer" is not making an attack. The Killer isn't doing anything when Victor pounces. As a matter of fact, not only is the Killer not doing anything when Victor pounces, but you physically have to STOP USING the Killer to use a Victor pounce.
It's rather silly that the Killer needing to surrender control to a different entity that isn't regarded as the Killer to use this attack is still regarded as the Killer's special attack, don't you think?
-
"And yes, Doctor is in the decent tier, don't question it."
I'm more concerned why Twins is in the top tier.

FoV can be strong in certain scenarios you simply get to see more so spotting survivors would be easy and itll just bring a big advantage, and spotting distant crows would be way easier, it will only cause problems
If you think the 15 degrees of Shadowborn makes that much of a difference, you don't know what you're talking about.
I run Shadowborn constantly and have been doing so since 2018. In the 2 and a half years I've been a fan of this Perk, not ONCE, not ONE SINGLE TIME, did I think to myself, "I found that Survivor because of Shadowborn."
It is little more than a quality-of-life change. It does not give nearly as big of an advantage as you think.

It IS a special attack. Victor is Charlottes special attack.
No, it is not. Victor is not Charlotte. Victor is a different character. Victor is his own separate, independent entity. He is not "Charlotte's special attack". That would be like calling bear traps "Trapper's special attack", or zombies "Nemesis's special attack", or RBT deaths "Pig's special attack".
-
@TheClownIsKing said:
“Performing a basic attack or a special attack consumes 1 token”.
Doesn’t sound like a nerf to me. Tokens should never have been kept when using Victor.
The thing is, Victor's pounce isn't considered a "special attack" because he's not considered a Killer in the code. In terms of whether or not it's an attack, Victor's pounce coding-wise would be more comparable to a Survivor taking damage from Trapper's bear trap or being attacked by a Nemesis's zombie, which both conserve PWYF tokens.
And again, if Victor is considered a Killer for this one instance, why not for any other Perk that involves the Killer, like Spine Chill or Deathbound? Why does PWYF get the special mistreatment?
Also, yes, it's absolutely a nerf. This was their literal best Perk before the change. Are you mad?

That's been around since Trickster's release but it too was not mentioned in the patch notes at the time.

I remember reading or hearing about this one. It was mentioned but I can't remember where. It may have been in Dowsey's video where he talked about the nerfs. Honestly though, BHVR is terrible about patch notes and stealth nerfs. They have a long history of being shady so it's no surprise they continued that behavior.

I would be fine with the nerf if they fixed the animation and gave you the ability to swap to Charlotte during a pounce stun instead of waiting for the animation to conclude.
-
It's not even the worst part, in my opinion.
MY worst part is the stun on downing someone. They were so lazy that they didn't even adjust the animation to fit the new stun time, so it's 2 seconds of running around like you're not stunned when you are. Even for Twins, that's just half-complete.
