They express that matchmaking is broken plenty. They express that there are less killers playing because it's a bad role - plenty.
I really do hope that OhTofu is not the only streamer you watch for dead by daylight. There are so many more other streamers you could be watching for professional play, and at the same time getting real observations on the game.
Like I know for a fact that a reason for the long survivor times is because Killers are leaving, and/or not playing the role. Even me who was a Killer main with over 1500 hours, switched to survivor because I can't take playing Killer anymore. Like open your eyes. This isn't the first thing the dev's tried to just brush under the carpet like they are about to do with piss poor ranking system.
I don't watch Ohtofu, in fact, i hate him bc the way he talks, it annoys me.
However, he's the only one using actual thought process and info to discover what's causing the mm issues.
"these balance changes are making the game annoying, therefore, less killers and matchmaking issues, i just know it, believe me", this doesn't make a single bit of sense for me.
The killer always was the "bad" role, since killer is supposed to play sweaty against four other players (assymetric games are impossible to balance), and if we compare the game now to 1 and a half/two years before, it actually was WAY WORSE to play killer, so blaming balance as the biggest cause of matchmaking issues is simply a big and fat lie.

Oh look OhTofu, the guy who throws around misinformation in the dev's favor because they can't properlly balance their own game, by doing so they keep advertising his channel. (you know the same ones forced to reach a point of hiding ranking because not only do they fail at making a balanced ranking system, but it misplaces you too).
When was the last time they've mentioned Fungoose, or Tru3tal3nt? It's been a while, but if I remember correctly the same day a dev advertised OhTofu, when he streamed later that day and kept getting asked about the ruin changes - he directly mocked the whole portion of the dbd community against the changes, and then proceeded to stomp a team of potato's with hillbilly, ending saying "see balanced" (something accustomed to that).
Though even though he does things like that, dev streams keep hosting and raiding him.
Now even if you don't take all of that into consideration when discussing how things in the game works, how about just common sense. Look at the forums, reddit, youtube, and THE MAJORITY OF OTHER STREAMERS. All saying that Killer sucks, and is a headache to play. How many STREAMERS QUIT playing dead by daylight, because THE GAME ISN'T FUN ANYMORE. Then figure "hmm, maybe A LOT OF KILLERS STOPPED PLAYING THE GAME".
Disclaimer: I don't give a damn about Hex: Ruin, nor do I think it shouldn't of been nerfed. It needed to be nerfed, but they could have done it a lot better than they did. I'm also talking about since the nerf there has been no attempt to make the game more fun for killers, but you see back to back updates making the game easier for survivors - specfically new survivors. While their game is in a state many say is dying, and becoming money corrupt. Something similar to this situation is what happend to Deathgarden.
Did Tru3talent or Fungoose gave any opinion about what's causing the matchmaking issues or you're just using Tofu's opinions about balance to deem anything he says as wrong or biased?

It wasn't the Ruin nerf that's making me play less killer. It was the article dropping with Survivor bias that they put out along with it.
Not this either.

Ruin has nothing to do with this, stop pretending it does.

Because The Game exists, that's it.

haha.

Yes, op.
There are far worse god-loops than killer shack, those should get a breakable wall instead; perhaps BHVR is just testing stuff.
Idk why people think the one main god-loop of the game (which has counterplay) should be so heavily nerfed.
-
It helps when people disarm important traps, but yeah, you should be able to realocate it in a very small radius without picking up.

The problem is that there is no hope in this current meta of even getting 1 kill.
I don't care about killing all 4, I just want to have a chance to actually play the game without it being over in 5 minutes or less.
But I am sure you will come back with some blanket statement about applying more pressure but never actually giving advice as to how.
I gave you help, what do you think that video i posted yesterday was?
At the end of the day, no matter how many buffs are given to killers, the devs will always balance them around playing sweaty, that's why you need to get better as soon as possible. Once you reach high-ranks, chill games will not be as regular as in low ranks.

That was 18 Feb 2018, cherry picker.
Lets look at his 5 Feb 2020 video.
As he say "I think gens are a bit too fast.. !" 😂
So what if it's old? This is a tips and tricks video, not an analysis or a suggestion.
He never said that gen speed is fine.
The thing is, this guy knows he can something about it since he is a good killer and most games aren't ultra hard. It's not like the killer is held back at the beginning of the game so the survivors can just start with a advantage.
Sadly, most killers are bad players who just want chill games of "hook, chase, 4k" routine and when that doesn't happen, they look for an echochamber to complain (which in particularly worse in OP's case since he made the same thread in the steam forums).

I guess this is good against solo potatoes?
Considering most survivors are not swf SEAL team 6, it's good in general.

I said "what about"
Meaning we are talking theoretically
So you meant "what if", not "what about".
And i said "well, this wouldn't be possible" since it's a lore discussion.
That is, of course, if you're actually discussing the possibility and not making a suggestion for the game; then it's different.

That's a nono, the entity wouldn't allow survivors to focus on anything other than surviving the trial.

Mindgaming is not easy but you are not doing much mindgaming at all as spirit. You are mostly reacting to the information survivors give you, like scratchmarks, grass, footsteps , grunts of pain, breathing and the actual mindgaming part is small.

You make me laugh
Well, considering most players in forums unironically believe trials are unwinnable without old ruin, your statement doesn't mean much to me.
-
No, op.
Spirit is not one of the most challenging killers to master.
Her power is braindead easy to use and the only technique you're required to master in order to become a good spirit is awareness of your surroundings, which is something you learn by playing as any killer.

Whys everyone saying Clown? Hes a solid killer to play and hard to go up against. Definetly in a good spot imo. Although I wont decline a buff to any killer at this point
What people complain about Clown is not viability, but gameplay value. His power is not only boring, but crippled by a lot of limitations, since it's a mechanic that only affects survivors.
Yes, you can use your bottles to find immersed survivors, too bad the AoE is small and limited by terrain.
Yes, you can use your bottles to cut down distance when chasing a far-away survivor, too bad you lose momentum when throwing bottles.
Yes, you can use your bottles to cancel actions with direct hits, too bad you'll only be able to capitalize on that once every 10 games
Yes, you can do all of this, while having to manage an ammunition-based power.
I wouldn't mind all of these weaknesses if i could do something other than throwing a bottle behind a loop to get a hit right on the pallet drop, but i can't.
Edit: Also, you grunt when vaulting, bc arthrosis, idc.

sooo what is the point of this thread?
E-muscles flexing.

Trapper is big brain time and fun chases in a killer.
Hag is a looping PTSD simulator.
-
It means you have a nice headset to play with.
-
Yes, iri heads is too strong and it should have a slight nerf, maybe a range requirement for one-shots, although i don't believe the hate is justified, since the counterplay is still available (juking the hatchets and forcing m1 on short loops).
-
I only used Ruin consistently against toolbox stacking and with clown/huntress, but i'm already trading ruin for Corrupt on these killers.
I hope BHVR do something about toolboxes, but at the end of the day, the only thing that upsets me in this shitshow is the following sentence: "It's less useful in the early game, but very useful in the lategame".
-
Now i'll have to use broken stuff against +3 toolboxes, yay.
-
Can we all agree that baits should be very small?
-
Asthma simulator.
-
No, the game is not balanced because there are a lot of gameplay features that can change the outcome of a match for one side or another without requiring skill.

The perks are pretty irrelevant. See, when they rework legion, they never "really" removed old legion from the game. Old legion is just an add-on. It's very same add-on that made Old legion hated. Let me elaborate further. Nurse has an ability called Blink and as everyone knows, Blink allows you to go through objects which devalues pallets, vaults and virtually every tileset in the game. Legion ability increases his movement speed and allows him to vault over pallets and windows, but the drawback of legion is that his ability was gated by deep wound mechanic, a mechanic specifically designed to "weaken" or remove lethality from his power(in his reworked state). Frank tape add lethality to his power and gives him the ability to ignore tilesets exactly how nurse ignores tile sets. Ironically enough, Nurse gets a pass when it comes to ignoring tilesets because her power has large skill-cieling where as Legion's power is look down upon because the skill-cap to achieve same result is considerably lower and therefore more consistent. It begs to question if mechanics such as these should exist and how potent should they be towards overall gameplay experience.
At the end of the day, all of the arguments boil down to being able to 1vs1 a killer because survivor bias players only have fun if they're able to consistently avoid being downed for the entire match. For some reason, The "1vs1" Survivor experience trumps the 1vs4 experience for killer. Old Legion's High dc rates comes from the 1vs1 survivor experience being miserable because regardless of how good the survivor was, Legion could always down them because of brute force anti-loop behavior his power exhibits. This is very same reason why people don't like bloodlust for killers because that mechanic through movement speed increase achieves similar unworthy downs that deep wound has for legion. At the same time, The killer has to eventually down you in a chase because if he can't down enough survivors in a chase before the generator are powered, you simply will never win as killer. I would say the last 2 years of dbd has truly evolved into being a looping simulator where survivors aren't afraid of the killer and the killer ability to provide any meaningful fear factor in a chase isn't really present so long as pallets exist on the map. as such, working on generators isn't scary or difficult, so in that sense, survivor's skill-cap for completing generators is about as skillful as Legion using Feral Frenzy to down survivors.
TL:DR Legion Franks Mixtape/Deep Wound mechanics isn't a fair gameplay mechanic, however the gameplay implications will not really change the outcome of match if the survivors apply the same tactics they use to beat every other killer(Stall chases, Complete generators & Unhook/heal to pip).
The problem that i'm pointing out is fairness, not viability.
The only killers who will run "new old legion" (stab wounds/frank's + BoP + Nemesis) are the ones who got matched with a survivor from their blacklist and want to give them a one-way ticket to the hook... And baby killers, of course.
New old legion is just another toxic tool for brainlets (like insidious camping). As a killer, i want the game to be better for both sides, not completely killer-sided, and that's why i feel this should not be implemented.
-
Why isn't everyone running distortion/stake out then?
-
@supersonic853 said:
Yeah so fix bop instead of dragging nemesis down with nemesis legion by himself isnt bad because you can pre pallet or test it by throwing down 1 pallet and if he doesnt have the perk you just play the normal way. They already nerfed him and removed his dark devotion sloppy and stbfl synergy so nerfing him more will just basically make him useless there will be nothing for him to do against a good team pre nerf with these perks he cant do anything really.
Yes, BoP is a noob chase perk, it doesn't need stealth, maybe giving it a stronger BL movement speed in exchange of longer BL charge time would be better.
-
I think Nemesis by itself is not a problem, but rather Nemesis + BoP + Stab wounds/frank's m. combo. Literally a low-iq bloodlust chase crutch.
-
Grass is a deadzone now.
-
You're not supposed to be wiggling free, that's just to make it so killers can't put you in the basement /strategic hooks always.
You're not supposed to unhook yourself a lot based on default luck alone, that's just a bad gameplay mechanic.
5% of 14 seconds is basically nothing, you're just spewing numbers.
Your statement that "not everybody can be as good as noob3" works on the assumption that he didn't take time to learn how to properly loop killers / hit skill checks like any other good survivor, and that practicing in order to improve as a player shouldn't be necessary
Just practice more.
-
I think this was already mentioned, but i'll say it:
DS is not meant to ONLY stop tunneling, but also to slow you down.
-
tbh I think most of the ppl who say that "Nurse is way slower bc you need to use 1-blink only for map pressure" just don't want to adapt and feel they need to always have 2 blinks to pick-off mispositioned survivors.
-
They put this interaction in a recent patch, so it isn't intended.

-
Yamaoka's haunting 2. more visibility, less vault safety nets.
Can we try to keep the tracker aspect of Legion? It's not like there is a shortage of good chasers.
-
Tbh i prefer legion as a information killer.
Also, on second thought, the vault cancel without stun would simply be a cheesy way to get easy hits
(wait for them to vault > follow through > hit > repeat in 18 secs or hit either way if they don't vault) no mindgame.
-
I'd say consistency is the strong point of anti-heal build. Sometimes survs simply do not tunnel vision the gen and actively look for the killer if he's stealthy.

Like losing all feeling in you hands than having someone cut off your fingers while your hands are hidden from your view.
You still have to "feel" the handicap.
-
How do you feel slower without noticing that you're slower?
-
Quick-reading kills the immersion intended for this lore thing, kinda dumb imo.

Bad idea.
30-sec mending time doesn't sound cool at all, only annoying.
