The VAST majority of DC's I see are on 2nd and 3rd hook.
These people want to play and have fun. When they find out that isn't really what DBD is about, they quit
Definitely not my experience. My DCs/hook unaliving typically happen on first hook, and usually the 2nd or 3rd survivor I've downed. This is on any given killer and after it's obvious I'm not camping or tunneling.
-
Omg give me a cloaker killer and I'll be absolutely in heaven, and he has to have the "Now go to to the forums and cry" line PLEASE. PD2 is actually how I first was made aware of DBD. I bought DBD to get the masks and such for PD2. It sat in my library unplayed until this year.
-
No thank you. While you might be inexplicably drawn towards having to max every character, I am inexplicably drawn towards maximizing my bp gain within reason. Being able to feel like I can run a fourth perk besides BBQ is incredibly liberating. With the changes to the bloodweb and prestiging, the time to get a character to fully playable in perks and addons is perfectly fine.

I can relate. Yesterday though I got a group that was absolute potatoes and I just didn't want to kill anyone (I was playing late game Myers) and at 8 hooks just scared them, downed 3, threw them on a pile and let the last one pick them up. After that I let them finish their gens, but one Kate player accused me of bullying and non cool gameplay :D
I can somewhat see why, but sheeesh, ya all got out and survived.
Yeah, a lot of times it's a case of know your audience. I'll usually let them wiggle off until they know I'm not out to kill them.

Trust me. You're just lucky 🤣. People will demean you for anything. Use blight or nurse ? Good luck. Want to keep a 3 gen ? Good luck. Want to save your stacks of STBFL so you end up tunneling ? Good luck
Blight and nurse just aren't enjoyable for me, so it's not an issue there. I don't try too hard to create 3-gens, if it happens, it's usually on the survivors so they generally don't complain. STBFL...I mean if I'm really trying to get full value out of it, I use it on killers that can either get around it like Nemy, or can minimize it like Slinger.Otherwise I use it as I can, but there are three other survivors and if I have to sacrifice some stacks the so be it, I can build them up quickly enough.

Trust me.....You still get hate no matter what. Hell a lot of the times it's from assumptions and misunderstanding alone.
I was told I camped from the first hook...Just because they could hear my terror radius on dead dawg....? I hooked them at the corner of main...Seen someone at gallows...They ran to main. I proceeded to chase them, and not even bother the unhook or heal...Which I should have. But I was camping....And got bitched at after
I haven't gotten hate chat in two months. 11 hooks, usually let the last survivor go. That's the goal when I play. I win more than I lose, usually have a good time. I ignore the clicky-bois and butt-dances. First hook DC or unaliving by a survivor, I'll make sure I get a hook on everyone then usually play catch and release for the rest of the game until they get out the gate.
I have fun, survivors usually have fun and it's a good time. With the exception of some bad eggs, I think most hate on both sides comes from their own play. I doubt I'm just lucky to get nice survivors all the time in 600 hours of play.
-
Absolutely too much as basekit. If say you changed his iri addon to that like legion, it'd still be too much because at least with legion, their power is less available and is not up for use asuch as wesker's is.
-
Meh, if I had my choice between the blood web cost cuts and BBQ bp bonus, I'd take the blood web cut. BBQ only boosts what you earn in matches, while the blood web cuts increase the value of every bp you get whether it's from matches, challenges, grade rewards, or bp codes. That and I don't have to run that same perk in every build.
These days I actually prefer bitter murmur as I feel like it gives me more pertinent info at a better moment of the match. I wouldn't mind seeing a buff to BBQ though, like through the old stacks on it, instead of bp boosts per stack, it shortens the minimum distance by a small amount.
-
If I let someone out it's any number of things:
- I pretty much destroyed the team in early game, so depending on how things went and how they acted (and what challenges I had active) 1 to all 4 survivors are getting out, but who is just usually down to luck or skill on their part in not getting 3 hooks before their teammate(s)
- Someone impressed me with how well and clean they played and I just got lucky in getting downs on them. They earned the escape in my eyes.
- They made me laugh. Amusing me is the quickest way to earn a "get out of jail free card."
- They were the survivor or possibly two that tried to play the game cleanly while the swf they got paired with were acting like asses. Few thing are as satisfying in the game as smashing a BMing swf and then rubbing it in by letting the solo players that got stuck with them out of the gate.
I play for fun and have no qualms with rewarding those that enhance that, and punishing those that actively try to inhibit that.
-
I've recently come back to playing her in the last few days. She was one of the first killers I tried out but abandoned because I struggled with her. Now with a better foundation of the game under me, she's definitely starting to pay dividends. Usually I'm running dual charge speed addons, or sometimes movement speed addons. The mobility and semi-stealth gameplay is a blast.

Just make all Terror radius' the same... Is it really that hard?.. Consistency would be nice...
No, because TR manipulation is an important aspect of killer builds and can have a large effect on how effective a given killer can be. They need to be tuned to the killer and thier abilities.

Hii,
So I´ve been thinking of this for a while.
As you know, if you disconnect from a game for whatever reason, you´ll get a penalty that prevents you for joining queue for another games; theorically this is fine, it prevents rage quitters from leaving early, however, when you play a lot, you´ll notice that it doesn´t make that much of a difference, and in fact, prevents ALL of the players from playing what they like the way they like.
I myself hate the cenobite, it´s a boring killer that makes me want to turn off my computer just by hearing his terror radius. I usually just give it a chance, but generally I don´t like to play against him, so why do I have to? I paid for my game, I paid for skins, I paid for DLCs and I WANT TO PLAY THE GAME THE WAY I WANT, I don´t want to wait 5 or 15 minutes every time I disconnect because some killer was farming bloodpoints or slugging everybody.
What do you think about this issue? There are other ways to solve this than going the easy way like the devs did.
Or, and bear with me here, you play the way the game is designed, not the way you personally want it to be designed, and if the two don't mesh, you play something else.

And then when you actually want to give the last survivor hatch you end up spending 20 minutes trying to find the damn thing.
I remember one of my first games as ghost face I had this Laurie who ran me really well so out of respect I wanted to give her hatch. I left her slugged to try and find it, then came back and tried to find it while carrying her, and in the end forced her to wiggle off so she could help me look. I didn’t realise at the time it could spawn on the edge of the map on backwater swamp. 😭
Too true, and swamp seems like the worst to try to find hatch in, even given how small it is.
-
I've had maybe 4-5 games where the hatch has spawned at my feet leaving me like "well...that sucks for them."
-
Edit - totally misread the OP.
It's a little goofy at times, but not really. If you were to look at it from a horror movie perspective, it's entirely plausible that the survivors would use a flashlight to gain the killer's attention to lead them off while their fellow survivors executed an escape plan. Likewise using one to briefly blind or disorient the killer would make sense in a Hollywood way.
I think what is more the cause of the disconnect is the sheer confidence survivors in the game have using such ploys vs what their movie counterpart would have as the stakes are much different.
-
I got news for you, it doesn't matter what we do. If we 4k, we are terrible sweatlords who have no lives and the only pleasure we get out of life is making it impossible for survivors to win a game. If we get our points for the match by getting everyone on deathhook and then show mercy by letting everyone go, then we are somehow terrible killers that should immediately uninstall the game and go play hello kitty island. Now apparently, if we give hatch we are monsters because we are somehow crushing the other three survivors self-esteem.
Look, the reality is in 600 hours of playing a pretty merciful killer, the number of negative chat interactions I've gotten can be counted on one hand and NONE of them were related to me letting someone go. On the other hand, I've gotten hundreds of positive chat interactions, so I don't think me letting someone go is really causing a lot of problems for the majority of survivors I face.
-
Add a large bp bonus for hooking all survivors before anyone dies. Add a larger one for having everyone on deathhook before anyone dies.
I'd say you could possibly even go so far as reducing some of the current bp bonuses to make the new bonuses larger.

@Halloulle said:
There's a difference between "just letting them go" and letting the game progress to the next stage once only one survivor is left...? Should you have hooked the next to last and then go afk until the last found hatch? No, ofc not. But do you have to slug the next to last guy to make absolutely sure you will definitely get the last guy? No, ofc not. How about people just progress the game as intended: you hook the next to last and then you go search for hatch. The survivor also searches for hatch. Whoever finds it first wins. Fair game.
Nah, if a survivor purposely puts themselves in a position where they know they cannot be hooked, they should expect the slug. He did the right thing, slugged the survivor who purposely went back into a hook dead zone then went to find the other survivor.
That survivor then ran to the dead zone. This was most likely because they knew getting the first one up was their only hope at that point, but they were downed before they had the chance. The first bled out (which was effectively their choice by going back into the dead zone originally) and the killer then hooked the last survivor (after a bit of struggle).
If he had bled both out, without giving the last survivor a chance (a slim as it may have been) that would have been a bit over the top.
I don't condone 4k bleed-outs, or bleeding a survivor out due to spite, giggles, or whatever, but if they intentionally try to make themselves impossible to hook, then they earned the slug as it's the only way the killer has to progress towards their objectives.
@Usernameforderek said:
tl;dr: survivor gets mad that I slugged someone who knowingly ran to a corner without hooks and calls me toxic. Do survivors really believe that killers should just let them go?
I keep bouncing off DbD because I get tired of toxic survivors when I'm killer (and I am just plain bad at survivor). But I've been watching some content creators lately that have given me some hope that this can be a chill game with people who just want to have fun.
Boy was I wrong.
I reinstalled the game yesterday after a long hiatus. Played a few very bad and rusty games as both survivor and nurse. No problem. No after game chat. I type my ggs and move on.
But today... I had my first great game in a long time. I was Nemesis. The survivors played well, I played well, and despite some really terrible stuttering connection issues, it was a lot of fun. I got a 4k with one gen left. Pretty close. I type my ggs in chat and immediately get someone calling me toxic and unsportsmanlike.
For context: Two survivors left, a guy ran to a corner during chase. I downed him and picked him up, but there were no hooks close (the nearest one was broken from sacrifice) and he got off. I chased again and he ran right back to the same corner. So I slugged him there and went to find the other guy. That guy ran to the same corner, where I downed him. The first guy was almost bled out, so I let him die before picking up the second guy who of course still got off, but I got him in the next chase. As far as I'm concerned, if you run to a corner you know you can't be hooked from, then you are choosing to bleed out. Fine with me. Also worth noting that that first guy was looping my ass off before we got to the corner, so it's not as though I was just bullying someone for fun. I just didn't want to keep running around the map after one guy. It was like a twenty or twenty-five minute game by that point. I even had time for a phone call at one point. I was just ready to be done.
I'm not sure which survivor was complaining, but they were saying that I should have let the survivor just get away and that I was being toxic by slugging. They also thought the hook would respawn so they didn't seem to understand the game at all.
Do survivor mains really think that running to a corner without hooks means that the killer should just let you run away? Is that how entitled and toxic they have become? Because that's really sad. No one said a word when I had bad games. Maybe that one SWF in an earlier game with all flashlights was a little salty when they found out I was running Lightborn, but they were on console and couldn't chat.
Is winning at all toxic if you're killer? Is that it? Will survivors just always assume that any killer who 4Ks is toxic?
As far as the salt...a lot people in general have a tendency to throw the blame anywhere but themselves. Killers and survivors. It's been a minute since I've gotten a salty survivor, but my typical response is to calmly and briefly explain my PoV, and if they still insist on the salt, I simply wish them luck in their next match and immediately leave the lobby.
-
I have one specific killer I run it on with one specific build, but aside from that, the only time I run it is when I see 3 or 4 flashlights in the lobby. I like it better than lightborn in that case because it gives a little more challenge than just negating the flashlights all together, and it has a better chance of keeping g the survivors trying for flashlight saves rather than just going "nope" and slamming gens.
-
The Developer
The Developer is a game developer driven mad by the impossible demands placed on her by players.
I don't have a good idea for her powers, but her mori should be shoving a keyboard in the survivors mouth sideways then stomping down so hard severs their head from the upper jaw on up.

Typical dbd players prioritizing unnecessary aspects of the game over the physical well-being of another person. People are pathetic.
What you see as unnecessary aspects of the game are part of the ambiance and feel of the game for the rest us. You know, a major part of what makes a game interesting. I'm all for fixing bugs and broken textures. I'm al for shutting down flashlight macros. I'm all for a photosensitivity mode. But when someone brings up deleting these things, I get defensive. The vomit effects for plague have been brought up to be removed because it made some people feel sick. Maybe this just isn't for them. There are things I can't do or enjoy. I do something else. You can't make every single thing accessible or enjoyable for everyone.
Again, yes, please do a photosensitivity option if it's realistically feasible, but if it's not, I'm sorry, there are other games and activities.
-
None, I play too many different killers to throw that many points into a single toon.

Same, knocked it out first go with 3-4 gens left I think?. Wesker or Plague, can't remember which now.

Let's stick with your analogy of food and Kizu's request for better photosensitivity options.
It's like going into a restaurant and seeing there's something you like with an ingredient you're allergic to, but there's advertisements for a version of the dish without it. Nobody else is being forced to have this version, and can continue to enjoy the food with the ingredient in, but you're able to enjoy the same dish except this time it won't kill you.
Yeah...that's why I said in my post that I'm fine with them being able to change things on their end through settings, as long as it changes nothing for me.
Colorblind mode - awesome addition.
Removing audio or visual effects from the game for everybody - no, thank you.
-
I don't know, maybe I'm just a terrible human being, but it seems like every little thing in this game causes some sort of issue for someone somewhere. I get tired of people wanting to change everything to suit them. It's a horror based video game. That means that it has things that aren't for everyone.
I can't eat certain foods. I get violently ill if I do. I don't ask restaurants to change the dishes to suit my stomach. I eat something else, or go somewhere else, no matter how tasty the dish might look.
I'm fine with adding a setting that changes the game for them personally, but I'm not cool with them changing things that affect my play experience.
-
No. Address the situations where it is a problem (Starstruck nurse, 4k bleedouts) without removing it's legit applications (combating sabo/altruism squads, creating pressure without removing a survivor from the game).

Not saying you're doing anything wrong but DC or not I genuinely would rather be steamrolled by a killer than to have one stare at me while I do generators to escape. I play Dead by Daylight to use game mechanics and strategies to escape or end up dying, if my entire game consists of holding M1 then I simply don't want to be included in that game anymore and would rather offer myself as a death than continue playing in the borefest. It's the same with farming killers, I simply would rather play competitively than sit there and have to slowly do generators and throw pallets down one at a time with no real danger involved.
As I said you aren't doing anything wrong by letting people escape if they so choose but while I appreciate the nice gesture of killers that do do this I would much rather still have to play normally or just move on to the next game entirely. I wouldn't say its a "decent thing to do" as I brought a flashlight in to be used, after this game the addons I might have added disappear, I didn't bring it in so that I can be guilted into not getting a bit of use out of it because the killer felt bad. If they choose to tunnel me to death after I blind them then that is totally fine too, it's how I would rather it be.
(Not to mention that its very hard to pip when you're being let escape because you get no healing or any of the other emblems.)
I get that sitting on gens can be boring. If you want out, don't want to sit on gens, beckon to the killer and have them follow you to a hook, point at the hook, and we'll get you out of the match so you can move on. That's being respectful to the killer's attempt to do something nice for the survivors and show mercy. That is also the killer acknowledging and respecting that gens aren't your thing and you'd rather move on to a hopefully more fun match.

I can admit when I was wrong and I don't blame my mistakes on game mechanics if they are my mistakes. This happens often where I clear the pallet or am a majority on the other side and get sucked back. If you take offense than that's cause you have no brain cell. I wouldn't have gotten vacuumed back so far if I wasn't a majority on the other side.
Obviously not. I believe that what you think happened in this clip has happened to you numerous times before, because I've seen it...it just didn't happen this time.

Could be for points, could be just being toxic, who knows. As I said I will sometimes blind the killer even though I can easily escape just for the extra BP considering some games I'll bring a flashlight and will get almost no use out of it and want at least a little value from it.
Yeah, don't care. If the killer is being nice enough to let you finish gens and exit the gate - usually because of an early DC or suicide on hook - at their expense of dragging the game out for themselves, and the points from just hooking and sacrificing everyone, maybe if they tell you "no" when you point a beamer in their face, respect that. Maybe don't point it in their face in the first place. Seems like a reasonable and decent thing to do.
-
@RavenzZ said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3176663#Comment_3176663
For the first one what exactly do you mean by "letting them go?" Like if I bring a flashlight I will sometimes blind the killer even if I'm almost out simply for bloodpoints.
Literally letting them finish the last gens and exit the gates. Like I'm standing 8m away from the last gen they are working on. They ask for permission to work it (crouch up to the gen and look at me, start working on it after I nod to them). Gen pops they follow me to the exit gates, I open them for them and step to the side. They run in and a couple heal up. They all come out to where I'm standing and one offers a toolbox/medkit/etc. Next one comes up and shines his mf beamer in my face. I shake my head "no". He pauses. Then does it again. This is the point where I turn violent again.
-
A few:
- Survivors that flashlight blind when it's very obvious and they clearly understand you are letting them go. It's like if they have one in their hands, it's simply impossible for them to resist. It's the quickest way to revert me back to an unfriendly killer. Many who simply can't resist after being told no once have found the fast way on to a hook or forced to crawl out the gates while being t-bagged by their teammates.
- DCs on first hook for no other reason than they were downed. It doesn't matter what killer, how nice I play, nothing. I get one of these about every third game. I can understand somewhat if you are being camped/slugged/tunneled, or if it's a super oppressive killer or build, but to have a tantrum and ruin the game for four other people simply because you lost a chase is just the lowest. I'd rather face 100 clicky-boi buttdancers than 1 of these guys.
- Survivors that waste my time by never readying up, and do the same by never leaving until the last second even though all remaining Survivors are in the same gate and healed up. It doesn't even have to be a BM thing. Even when it's them showing appreciation for letting them go, to drag it out until the last possible second just irritates me to no end. At least the ones BMing, I can give them a couple of love taps to send them on their way, but the ones who are being nice, I just feel too bad to give em a smack.
-
@Nazzzak said:
Tbh I think the ones that do it are probably the stronger loopers who want to be chased/tunnelled
A lot of times. Usually once I identify them as the "super-loopers" I just ignore them and go after the rest of the team. Usually in their frustration to get you to chase them, you can catch them unaware in a dangerous position and get a down on them. Otherwise like someone else said, win the match and let them have hatch.
-
I can see a lot of stuff working but I doubt you'll ever see a complete overhaul like that. The one thing I'll point out is the basekit baby unbreakable is something I'd give a hard no to. Slugging is a necessity at times. Sabo and altruism squads that bomb the killer as they try to hook can make it almost impossible to get a hook if well-executed. The only defense against this is often slugging enough of them out so that you can safely get your hook. This can take some time. Also for those of us who try not to tunnel someone out of the game, slugging is an alternative when we run up against a survivor who was just unhooked. We generate pressure by keeping them from working on a gen plus getting a second survivor off of gens to come rescue them. They get to stay in the game and continue playing when they get up, and we get some precious time to find that immersed Claudette that's been eluding us for three gens.
A better option would be to look at how those quick 4-man slugs happen in the first place and address that, while giving survivors an option to speed up the bleed out for endgame 4-man slugs.
-
It should work as advertised. If there is a hidden delay, it needs to go away.
-
Game ends, everyone safety pips, Items/addons/offerings refunded for everyone except the person who DC'd. I don't care about the BP, but wasting items on a dead match infuriates me.
-
Yeah, you simply were not as far across the pallet as you think you were, especially after you turn to face the killer's direction. Pay close attention to where the pallet lands on the bed after you pull it compared to where you were when you triggered the pallet.

Oooh okay my bad! Sorry haha. But I generally don’t get annoyed if they’re actually trying but if it’s someone that’s prestiged their survivor X amount of times I assume they have some familiarity with the game and know what not to do if you get me. Maybe that’s on me for assuming 😂
Prestige really isn't a good metric for how experienced a player is going to be in a killer or survivor role. Example: I'm a killer main with a survivor at P3. I have 500+ hours as killer, but I've played maybe 6-7 games as survivor and am pretty terrible at it.. I just dump points into the survivors occasionally for the rare occasion that I try them out...someday I do intend to play survivor seriously, but I still have goals to hit on the killer side.
The inverse can be true as well, especially with the new prestige system and particularly for survivors. Someone may have most of the other survivors at P3 and is very experienced in playing survivor, but has just started prestiging that particular one, so they may have hundreds or even thousands of hours in, but just haven't spent any BP on that particular toon. So that P0 in your lobby is actually a superstar.
Hours played is a similar situation. If someone sees my survivor in their lobby, looks to see hundreds of hours played, and expects me to be competent in that match, they are in for a rude awakening.
-
Killer perk: Uno Reverse Card
Each time you hook a survivor for the first time in a trial, gain a token. If you have a token you may call for the entity to place a trap by interacting with a raised pallet for (X) seconds. This expends 1 token. Afterwards, if a survivor attempts to drop the affected pallet, it explodes in a flash of light, instantly destroying the pallet and blinding the survivor for (1.5/2/2.5) seconds.

It's not just "annoying" it's completely broken, sections of the map shouldn't just be blocked off by buggy AI. Fix it, or just have them not spawn on inside maps.
They just need to treat zombie hits as killer hits and briefly remove collision after a hit.
-
The achievement needs to change, not the mechanics.
-
I mean I can pretty much play any of the killers in my rotation without addons. Do i want to? No, no I do not. Myers, Plague, Doctor are probably the top three I can think of that would be the least fun or most challenging without addons.
-
Just give us the option to put our grownup pants on and turn the filter off for ourselves. Highlight words that would be censored on their end if they have the filter on so we have an idea if they can understand what we type.
-
Similar situation as Bitter Murmur and Floods of Rage. Bubble goes off and blocks your field of view. It's worse on Kindred though as 1) the above situation where the killer is bee-lining to your position is completely blocked until the bubble disappears, and 2) survivors usually shoot to the sides so they move out from behind the bubble fairly quickly.
-
No, it's good counter-play.
-
I'm good with nerfing Nurse so that her blink attacks count as special attacks. I'm not good with nerfing a perk that is fine one over 95% of the killer roster because of one OP killer.
The one condition I have in nerfing Nurse is we don't try to push this into "well if the Nurse's blink attacks count as specials, then the Deathslinger's chain attacks should too".
-
Oh sweet summer child...run...run fast.
-
Darkness Revealed, Iron Maiden, Lethal Pursuer, Deadlock are my go to perks. You can swap Deadlock for another aura perk if you want auras for long range throws.
Tips:
- practice your snapshots
- lead your targets
- practice your snapshots
- always better to injure with the hatchet first as the recovery time is quicker.
- practice your snapshots

IDK, I played about 16-18 games today and I think I played Wesker for the first three to finish off his P3, then other killers for the rest. Maps were maybe 1/2-1/3 RPD (guessing), and the rest was other. For a new chapter didn't feel too far off.
That said, hopefully the map rotation goes back to normal in a week or two. I don't mind the new RPD, but any map gets old after awhile.

@ImNotBobDylan said:
Well, regardless of solo survivor balance (which is horrible), OP is right that killer is the least attractive role. You are basically the enemy of everyone else in the lobby and having 4 people cooperate against you.
But there is a way to have fun as killer in this game, and interestingly, I think it all comes down to a quite philosophical principle that I read somewhere decades ago and that I found very applicable in a variety of occasions since then:
Basically. Something that we all know, is that when we compete with other people, we love winning and hate losing. In other words, we love being the winner and we hate being the loser. However, something that we don't realize is that our opponents share the opposite feeling.
When you win a race, the opponent players will not love you for winning the race, rather they will hate themselves for losing the race. Win too many times, and the other players will just stop playing with you at best, at worst they will start thinking you played in an unfair way, that you were lucky, that you don't deserve the win, and the more you win the more they will hate you. Because our brain has a very hard time imagining that a competitor has beat us fair & square.
In contrary, when you lose, you will think of yourself as the loser, but your opponent will not think of you as the loser at all - rather, they will think of themselves as a great player, and of you as a just slightly less, but still great player. Because it's way more appealing for them to think that way - they have no reason to think that they have beat a loser, that would only decrease their achievement. They will always agree to play with you in the future, because it strengthens their belief that they are a great player, who keeps winning regardless of the opponent's luck and effort. If this person is your friend, then they will be secretly be very thankful to have a friend like you, maybe they have an other friend, but this one beats them at the game, so they do not mind losing this "friend" as much as they would mind losing you (in fact, they always thought that this "friend" showed off way too much)
The thing I read back then was something along this lines: if you want to be liked and make friends with a lot of people, you should try to not be envied by others, you should not aspire at having the best car, the best house, because if others care about these things, you being better at it than them will just cause envy, not appreciation. Our ego likes having the best things but in many situations this works 100% against us. If you try hard and do things better than the others, your brain will make you think that this is good, but in reality, most people will hate you.
Now where this applies to DBD.
For a while now I've been playing very nice with survivors, I don't tunnel/camp even if they unhook right in front of me, I always give hatch, let them farm/escape for any reason - if there is a DC , AFK, or just if they are cute. I say "gg" after every loss etc. and 95% of my end game chats are now filled with very positive survivors which write genuinely nice things, ie. they are not saying "Thanks for the free win" but rather "Good killer gg" or leaving +reps on my profile. Before when I played normally the only thing I'd get on my profile would be "-rep tunneler" or similar even in cases where I didn't tunnel.
Basically, there's 0 reason to try to win as killer in DBD. People will just hate you for it, you will never, EVER, have someone tell you something like that:
"Wow you were such a skilled killer you 4K'd us badly"
or "Wow all these killer achievements on your profile you must be really skilled at DBD".
That's what your brain makes you dream of but it will NEVER happen because NOBODY likes to find a player who is better than them, even less congratulate them for it. In contrary if you're just meme'ing people will add friends & leave +reps saying you're a cool and chill guy. Add MMR to the equation and there is literally 0 reason to win, you'll just get matched against players who have 10k hours and you will get destroyed anyway.
A lot of truth there, but there is a downside or a consequence of being TOO nice. Eventually your MMR hits rock bottom. At this point you start getting matched with survivors that are so bad or so new that they can't even tell that you were playing nice, that you let them have the gate (even when you open it for them). You try to go for 8 hooks, but they are letting each other die on first hook.
While this is happening, you are still improving your own ability, albeit more slowly than if you were facing equally skilled survivors. You get bored. This was my experience at least.
I've started pushing my MMR back up. I go for the 3k, let someone have hatch. If there is an early DC or suicide, I'll let people go, but only if it's not obvious it was due to to rest of the team being potatoes. You have to find a balance. I still don't tunnel or facecamp (proxy camping is the right play occasionally, although I prefer to go off and push survivors off gens). It's still been months since I've had a negative chat interaction, and have had several positive ones even with 3-4ks. I'm in a good place where games are becoming challenging again, but not overwhelming.

And if you end up chasing someone. U just lose the game, i hook several ppl in the game afterwards, no tunnel.

the moment i hook the second guy only 1 gen is left. and still a ton of pellets left on the map. what do u do then?
You realize that your grade (Ash, Bronze, Silver, etc) has literally nothing to do with matchmaking anymore? It's all based on the SBMMR system now, which doesn't reset every month like grades. It has zero influence with the survivors you are being matched with.
