  • Ranked Mode: Everything is normal, but the Pip system actually works and awards people 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th. Favourable items, add-ons, perks, killers, offerings, map layouts and SWF status are taken into account, as well as general gameplay (chase time Vs resources used Vs amount you sprinted forward Vs killer bloodlust) and gen/hook efficiency. This game mode would replace our current ranked mode.

  • Altruism is fun AF. The only time I don't play that way is if the killer has NOED. Otherwise, I will happily martyr myself. Screw the extra 3000 BP. And I know that most survivors do the same.

Cooldown isn't Nurse's main problem which are bugs and useless addons

Definitely agree. Her bugs are the only thing that keep me from playing her. I just wanted to clarify because I was one of those old-school nurse mains that never used the broken add-ons and 4k'd every match with 100 hours in the game at purple/red ranks. Looking back, damn it was stupid.

  • It would take a lot of work to impliment the physics, and it would be a massive drain on device processing power.

  • Okay, off the bat: old nurse wasnt the hardest killer in the game to play, or no-one would have played her. Case and point, no-one plays really plays Hag, or even new Nurse. She had the highest skill floor, sure, but once you reached it, it was ggs. Spammity spam and they were screwed, because even if you messed up you recovered in 4 seconds. No time at all, really, not for a killer that literally ignores every pallet and window and can instantly jump on top of you.

Sweaty usually means the opposite of lazy though? You have no logical basis sadly.

Thats kind of my point. People have confused what "sweaty" means. I never seem to see it used correctly, at least not in these forums. Exceptions do exist, if course, but they are exactly that.

Edit: hang on, I just reread exactly what I wrote and it was pretty clear. What exactly are you confused about?

  • Crossplay is ######### WIERD. Almost no-one is any good at looping, but they drop pallets instantly to buy time while their solo teammates do gens as quick as they possibly can. I've had to stop playing m1 killers.

  • Honestly, when people talk about "sweaty" survivors, they usually mean "lazy" survivors. You know, the ones that use full second builds and do dumb shite that shouldn't even be possible, like locker DS and instadropping pallets. They aren't sweaty. They are calm, collected, brain-dead and still winning by virtue of that just being how DBD plays out. It is rare that people actually mean Deathsquads, SWF or otherwise.

On the killer side, sometimes people do talk about Sniper Spirit or Forever Freddy (still a thing) as "sweaty" when they really mean "lazy", but it just isn't used as much. The only other "sweaty" killer thing I think of getting thrown around a bunch are mori's, but... Once again, no-one burns a Mori to get sweaty.

  • Plague can be a very strong killer, however she is reliant too much on RNG and very low latency. Not only does she need a decen m1 killer map, she needs her fountain in a decent location, preferably centralised, and in her 1 and only use she needs to snowball as hard as possible, meaning that 1 "missed" hit can, and usually will be the difference between winning and losing. It doesn't help that her corrupt purge is notoriously slow.

  • People want what people like and they don't care to put much thought in after that. They see DbD as a melting pot of horror and don't really seem to understand that it's a slasher game that needs slasher killers.

  • A lot of the time I just meme when I see a map offering and/or key. So many survivors don't even get it. I have had so many unironic "GG ez's" it's not funny. I don't expect anything else, though. People that take you to Haddonfield or Dead Dawg aren't the kind of people to even understand the concept of fun.

  • I've been having the opposite experience: every game has been instadropped pallets and fast gens, til we reach the 1 gen mark and suddenly every survivor goes super altruistic. Is this normal console play? It's getting me super wierded out. I swear, I have been the only person to finish the last gen in almost every one of my matches.

  • The standard hills in DbD have so many problems. They take up hook spawns, their pathing is stupid and now there's a bug to trap killers in them. Is this the wake-up call to take a look at their design and maybe replace the standard hills with the newer 2-path hills?

maybe they not good but have a lot more advantage. Especially killers

Yeah, since everyone on PC can afford a groundbreakingly powerful machine.

I've worried myself but about framerate issues mostly (lerys rn, on console is a joke)

I play r6s as well though - that would actually be hell on earth

Yeah, there's no reason consoles can't run at 60fps from a hardware standpoint. My year 1 Xbox One has more processing power than my PC. But I guess the Devs want everything to look like a pretty, pretty slideshow than an okay videogame.

  • The DBD stats have you covered. Looking at what's popular is literally the only thing they are good for, and the reason most people (except the Devs) are fully aware how worthelss they are, since popularity is affected by more than just power.

Case and point, I believe that Freddy was on top and Hag lowest last time I checked.

  • If I see blendy squad, I'm dodging. Someone that wants that many advantages is probably running 4 second chance perks and a map offering to boot. I'm not dealing with that unless I load in to force them to waste it on an afk/memeing killer. And I am almost always right, to the point where it's just sad how predictable it's become.

  • Deathslinger. Wierd, I know, since he came out so recently, but I am tired of playing weaker killers that get 5 minute games, so it's that or Spirit. And I also like Spirit, though I've always played a few games with her a week.

Cal me bad all you want, it's not fair that survivors win by playing ultra safe while their team does gens. I like m1 killers. I don't like awful matches where I'm basically providing some SWF team a power trip. If anyone's tripping on power, it's gonna be me. Or I'm gonna mess around with a bunch of chill survivors and practise my trick shots til I 4k or they escape. All I want is longer matches, not free kills.

Who told pc players they were the best?

    PC players.

It's also really early to be coming out with definitive judgements - "PC killers always do this" "why does every console survivor do this"

crossplay just started, at the same time as rank reset and a weird matchmaking system which shifted people around being disabled.

Actually, it seems to be console players that created and popularised the whole "PC players are best" nonsense. Way before, leading up to, and since release, I have seen and overwhelmingly larger number of fearful console players than overconfident PC players. Probably since DBD is not R6 Siege and the difference between mouse and controller is almost negligible.

  • @Ashetiz said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/182390/question-why-all-the-hate-between-pc-and-console-players

Because pc players think their the ######### because they have a pc and constantly ######### on console players for no reason.

I have yet to see any PC players being entitled elitests in DBD, yet console players constantly pretend they are just that.

  • Basekit doc is fine. His add-ons way overbuff him to the point that an okay doc with a couple of yellows or greens can be downright unbeatable. And I'm not talking about yet another antiloop killer that can only be genrushed, either.

  • There's a huge FPS disparity between PC players as well. Many people modified their game files to drastically increase the cap and make skillchecks a breeze and juking completely worthless, and that's ignoring the number of people that also cannot play at 60fps in the first place.

I've tested it and I don't need to rely on content creators who may have an agenda in a way or the other. I don't need any more proof, but I'm certainly open to see it.

I think the best one is Ayrun, he tries to pretend it doesn't help by only showcasing it on loops you can already see over, then casually looks over top of jungle gyms and other wood-walled loops. I could be getting him mixed with someone else, it was a while ago I last checked it since stretching Res was made borderline impossible.

Edit: Ardetha did a whole video on it and estimated that you could clearly see over about 60% of structures that were otherwise mindgameable due to normally tiny FoV

What you see in that screenshot is not stretched. It's a public hack.

You can't see over and around loops with stretched more than you can with native.

There's plenty of proof that you can, including certain streamers who use stretched, claim its not effective, then proceed to see the unseeable.

  • It is questionable the number of complaints about hackers I've seen. I don't know how much of it is stigma, how much of it is strawman, and how much is real. Because some of its got to be.

  • Blame the survivors, my dude/ette. They're no better.

  • Iri head without extra hatchets is a straight-up nerf. Even if you land every one, you cannot snowball.

  • @KIKI_ said:

He limps and is forced to chase people around. A little bit of empathy

Are you asking for empathy for the dude that invented a harpoon gun that deliberately keeps people alive and in agony long enough to see them hanged?

    Okay. Seems legit.

  • Look, as the community had already decided, stretching your FOV so much that the particle effects dont even register correctly is not against the rules because it doesn't give you an advantage. Also, being able to literally see over and around every loop isn't an advantage. Somehow.

  • So, you think that a killer that moves slower than a running survivor can consistently 4k without ever using their power.

    Sounds legit.

    Spine Chill.

Look, I found counterplay. And it's even a meta perk. POGGERS, my dude!

Imagine complaining about Pig, one of the weakest killers in the game...because one of her Ultra Rare addons is...wait...mildly powerful? You don't say!

    Yes.

    Yes.

    Channel that inner Tofu.

  • Okay. I was having fun playing Ghostface but I guess I'll break the old girl out. What region are you in? And what's you level of arrogance, on a scale of 1 to 10? I have douchebag homing hatchet cheats enabled and I need to dial the settings correctly.

  • Yeah, closing the hatch powers the exit gates because... Fairness, I guess. Otherwise why even not DC. You would have no hope of escaping otherwise.

  • No, so far as I know Doc is rarer on PC than console, since he's a free console character and one of the best antiloopers that requires timing more than precision

  • I always skip Mori and most specific survivor rituals, as well as rituals for Trapper Traps and Wraith uncloaking.

  • So, you have magically come across the dreaded PC Hackers that elude us PC players, in fact so rarely rearing their heads that one might assume you had a 1 in a million (possibly even literally) experience and/or simply not understood how quickly medkits can heal people and how high ping makes survivors look like they are speedhackers when in fact they are playing on McDonalds WiFi.

  • @Todgeweiht said:

I am pretty sure they were PC players. Because of the name.

Well, perhaps now people will take things seriously when someone talks about the toxicity in DBD, instead of saying "I have to deal with worse so grow a thick skin."

  • In DBD? I don't. Kills and escapes are mostly out of your hands and in the realm of RNG and perk strength. For killers, so is pipping. Thats probably why there's such a big toxicity movement in DBD: the lack of defined win condition leads people to invent their own. I cannot tell you the number of times I have had people key out or Haddonfield and scream "GG EZ BABY KILLER LOLLOLLOLLOL" unironically.

  • @Todgeweiht said:

You PC guys are toxic. 3 games in a row I have gotten at least one teabagger per team.

I was always told that the console norm was 4 per team and a clicky to boot, by pretty much every console player that has ever spoken about toxicity. Are you sure it was PC players, or console players form the other ecosystem?

  • @Tricks said:

Yeah I've had the game crash out several times since cross play was introduced right when the match starts to go badly for the opposition. Very suspicious indeed.

No, I haven't had that, I was just talking about her terrible server-sided hit registration that I really hope they aren't basing the server hit validation on. It sound alike you're experiencing a crossplay bug that might need reported

  • Please, put the console/PC wars back in the 2000's.

  • I would, but the "lag" has been destroying Plague more than normal.

  • It never went away. So many people think it's a good perk and waste 32 seconds healing themselves every time they get hit. Now, SC+Botany is a solid combo, but people rarely want to sacrifice 2 perks because they are playing for themselves and not their teammates and don't care about gen efficiency or the fact they they can heal people pretty quickly.

  • Yeah, I play a little differently: I let people go. If there's no obsession, survivors are way less cocky and rarely sit on gens next to their recently-vacated hook. So I've got no real reason to chase them most of the time, they're off looking for a heal. Makes the game nicer, you know? Plus, it's hilarious when someone tries to bluff a locker DS. I mean, the correct play is almost always to rip them out of the locker and eat the DS so it can't get you later, but it's even funnier when they immediately DC or suicide. Sad and petty, to be sure, but funny.

As survivor, literally nothing changes for me. I never abuse, or even USE, DS since I so rarely get properly tunelled and I don't believe in 59 second DS's as being fair in any way, even if you weren't being a prick about it. I also get a lot of people saying I should run it so I don't get farmed, but that's the farmers fault, not mine. I don't see why I should punish the killer for it. I'd rather avoid getting hooked in the first place, through stealth and long chases, and I don't get cocky. Or, rather, when I do get cocky I freely admit it was my own fault.

  • As survivor, mindlessly hold m1and you'll pick up everything else pretty quick. The game has basically become an m1 simulator, since killers have been forced to git gud and many of the characters are insane in a chase.

As killer, ignore the rulebook and make the best play for your situation. Which is rarely camping or tunelling, but it can happen. Also, if the survivors come in with the "gens before friends" mindset and wait til the last second to save so they get as much gen time as possible, camp and force hook states. Nothing else you can really do, or else you're giving them the best of both worlds. Does it suck? Yes. But they made their choice.

  • You apply pressure by forcing survivors off the generators and throwing out the rulebook that basically exists to let them have easy wins, aka snowballing them. Slug and turn 1 down into 2-3, or even 4. Hook as many as you can before their friends get them up.

Except you can't slug them because of Unbreakable. They get free unhooks because of BT/DS. They get free gens because of locker DS. They get free everything because of DS/UB. When they mess up a loop, DH for distance. They even charge straight at you with 4 layers of protection because of how little they know you can do.

And then the wonder why there's so many Spirits and Freddies.

  • @EmpireWinner said:

Another swf post, trying to make them look bad

They are just salty, you won. Just move on

Theres no "trying" involved. This is simply bad. Attempting to downplay what that person said is what leads to such things being said, and the sentiments of toxicity in general. Many people have fun by hurting others as best they can. Excusing it is almost as bad.

  • If both you and the killer have 40-60 ping, that is essentially you and the killer having 80-120 ping in the old P2P system. This is because the info goes from you, to the server, where it checks against the most recent killer info, which is in this instance just as old as yours. And, given that hits are killer sided for very obvious reasons, this means that there is small delay that results in you being exhausted on the ground.

Hopefully, the new hit detection system they are implimenting will fix these issues. However, I am not that trusting, and I fully expect killers to rebel against massive numbers of "missed" attacks because the killer and survivor happened to have more than 20 ping each. I am willing to bet that it will massively overtake getting "aimdressed".

  • We really don't need any more regression perks, at least not ones that can be stacked. They serve a healthy purpose in theory, but the fact is that, whilst kilelrs can get away with no tracking or chase perks, regression and generator control is absolutely essential. The fact that perks bandaid Inthis part of what should be the basekit of killers is honestly rather horrible in terms of game design, given that the draw to DBD is its variety.

So what killers DO require mechanical skills then (excluding Nurse)?

Mechanical skill at base? Deathslinger, Huntress, Billy, Pyramid Head, Oni, Plague, Demogorgon and Doctor. You need to practice their powers in order to get any real use out of them.
