I have actually played a few games this week after not really playing for months. Faced quite a few Nurses and enjoyed every match but it seemed many of my team mates were absolutely useless against Nurse and they went down really fast, even though probably only one of the Nurses was actually semi decent with her.
I assume those same survivors come to forums to complain about Nurse too lol
-
Trickster. Spamming knives takes no skill and on loops without high walls there is no real counter play for survivors, nor does it take any real skill to spam knives.
Bubba actually does take some skill to actually get downs at loops, especially without addons to give him extra charges.
-
I think she is actually kinda fun to play but she is a very slow killer outside of phase and she gets looped hard while she recharges. Now her phase sound is directional and her footsteps are clearly audible she isn't anywhere near as strong as she once was but she is still going to stomp noobs, though most killers do that to be fair. She isn't a very fun killer to verse but is much improved since it doesn't just boil down to a 50/50 choice any more
I am just glad Stridor Spirit days are well behind us now!

I'm not advocating camping, but at least you have to hook someone first, and then fend off rescue attempts.
As a surv, you can immerse the whole game, doing absolutely nothing, and still escape. You could rise to the top of MMR simply by riding the coattails teammates and/or being a craven opportunist. No idea why anyone would want to play the game that way (ending up at high MMR with no actual skill progression), but people are funny creatures.
Exactly. Surprised this has to be broken down like this but thanks for doing so and yeah, people are weird that is for sure
-
To be fair, ranks never really meant much anyway as anyone who played red rank survivor knew all too well
-
These days I find less survivors actually play pallets, they seem to just drop them and run. So it really depends but it often isn't worth it if you can force a mindgame if a survivor has to resort to that downed pallet again later on
-
I guess because perks that are too strong are almost certainly going to be abused and survivors will find ways to make them broken that the devs never thought of. It creates a lot of headaches and reworking to fix the unintended consequences, or it makes the community angry if they nerf them into the ground.
For this reason I only ever level up David, Bill, Jake and Meg (in that order) on my alt accounts as I feel that even to this day you only need their perks for an absolute tank meta build with WGLF to speed up the process.
-
I didn't know this but it is a good idea otherwise you could play as P3 Claudie and hide all match until you get the hatch and increase your MMR lol... Which would obviously be absurd
-
Nurse without a doubt.
I only ever tunnel people off hook who 6 second switch in the lobby or clicky clicky/tea bag etc and with Nurse you can down them again very quickly even if they have BT. If they have DS they usually only last another few seconds and they are down again most of the time and if they are 'toxic' they usually dc at that point lol.
-
Yeah I remember and I very rarely see him these days.
When I do they are usually really good as pretty much only the god tier players can still handle the misery of playing him. I tried but I am absolutely hopeless

Now that chat is filtered, you can't even report people for what they say anymore.
I think it's by design tbh
100% by design, I bet it saves them a lot of time when dealing with reports.
OP, close chat and if you are on Steam make your profile private if you play killer. Sadly this is the reality of playing killer in DBD and is part of the reason many just say enough is enough and stop playing killer altogether.
-
I like Billy, Trapper, Myers and Nurse but I don't mind the odd Dr match just for a bit of chaos as a survivor.
I would like Bubba too but I cant stand the whole totally original and exciting Insidious basement camp thing that too many of them do...
-
I pretty much stopped playing more than say 2 or 3 matches a month but tonight I decided to play a few games in a row.
I have to say so far my games have been far more enjoyable than they were before I stopped playing. I feel like I am getting a mix of both gods and potatoes as team mates and also as opponents when playing killer.
Overall I think the changes have improved the game, a pleasant surprise
-
Well if you are relying on NOED to get kills you are kinda screwing yourself in the long run, as it gives you no incentive to improve and work on tactics to pressure gens more effectively.
Not saying killer is easy as it sure is not but I have to say that when I go against killers who are absolutely awful, I can almost guarantee they will have NOED and it will be a good idea to cleanse any dull I see. And sure enough, almost every time a bad killer will have NOED.....
-
For me personally I find him extremely annoying and unfun to play against and I admit I usually either DC outright as soon as I hear/see him or kill myself first hook. He isn't OP but spamming the knives is just plain irritating and I absolutely hate going against him. I have 3 accounts so I don't care about matchmaking timeouts and I would rather take the time out than play against him. I know that is not great for team mates but even if I do stay in match someone else DC's anyway lol
-
Lol yeah this happens far too often, or they spawn right in the open so they may as well have a big neon arrow pointing at them. I pretty much never use Hex perks for this reason, though when I do I like to risk Devour and most times I get no value... but those one in a million times I actually get a god tier totem spawn are awesome.
-
If the game is still alive in a couple of years I imagine they will as UE4 will start to appear limited since Epic will no longer be putting resources into keeping it up to date. I would love to see it but the performance hit for consoles and low end PC's would not be ideal
-
No.
I never understand why some killers will not just take it and get it out of the way when survivors do this? It is annoying I get that but the survivor is not down anyway, so you may as well let them have their little DS moment so that it doesn't come back to haunt you later on in the match. Nothing much lost to get it out of the way
-
BL used to be great as it still removed the stagger even when you were exhausted. I have run BL and DH at the same time and it was surprisingly not that bad of an idea and I got value from both (depending on the map). But realistically there is no compelling reason to use BL over DH these days
-
The underlying issue here is many playing killer have pretty much given up even trying as they feel hopeless against COH and survivor sided RNG. Some are only playing as killer queues are instant whereas survivor takes forever at peak times.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to farm either but I don't get bent out of shape about it and if everyone else is I will either just do gens and leave or join them to get a few points then leave asap

I agree, but in my opinion every map is survivor sided.😅 I just don't understand why they made this map so bright.😣
Actually, you could argue that they are and it would be hard to dispute that. I guess some are more balanced than others but they mostly seem to favour survivors.
I agree on the brightness, it just spoils the entire feel of the maps. I guess it is now 'Dead by Late Afternoon' now, since it appears to be midday sun? ;)

its a you thing that you cant counter dead hard
Strawman argument, that was NOT what I said at all.
Tell me, if a survivor would not make it to a safe pallet or vault unless they had DH to compensate, how would one counter them pressing E to make a pallet or vault?
-
@Rokjer said:
I'm trying to play DH right now, but I don't like it. I totally forget to activate it sometimes. And when I think about it, it doesn't help me that much. I prefer to use SB or BL.
But this is a you thing, nothing to do with the perk or how broken it is
-
You can but it has the effect of being an extra life state, since without it you would be downed but you can press E and the killer is denied that down.
Loops would last far less time and pallets would need to be dropped and the loop rendered unsafe much faster without DH.
-
I just tried to play killer and not to sound like a drama queen but I literally could not go through with it. My anxiety shot up to the point I had to ask myself why do this as games are supposed to be fun right?
-
I was always a survivor main but I did play a lot of killer. I rarely play at present and when I do I never play killer, it just is not worth the stress and frustration for me personally.
Hell I would probably prefer to play against bots as at least they don't go out of their way to make your experience miserable
-
Some of these posts are delusional as if there isn't a problem with the number of killers. These people may well play at a time where survivor queues are not so bad but I think most of us know that at any peak time queues are generally horrific and the killers we eventually get matched with are often babies you just feel bad for.
But hey, keep kidding yourself that there isn't a problem as pretending it doesn't exist will not end badly right?
-
@sulaiman said:
I had that situation several times in the past few weeks, too.
I think slugging for a 4k is valid, BUT the problem is when it dosnt work out, and the killer lets the slugged survivor go to help him find the one he couldnt find otherwise. Thats working with the killer, but reporting does nothing if you dont take video evidence and report it in a secret way not obvious in the game itself.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2916421#Comment_2916421
I disagree. its for the benefit of both players. Without hatch, killers cant initiate egc, and some of us remember how long a game could take that way.
Yes they can, killers can just open the gates if they want everyone to leave. There is no way the hatch benefits killers, it is an entirely survivor sided mechanic to give them another chance at a free (often undeserved) escape
-
Range only, nothing else.

I was talking with a friend about the ''old'' Coldwind Farm maps. We both hate the light coldwind update and when I saw The Realm Beyond again I really miss the previous Coldwinds.
Here's the video in case you didn't play on the ''old'' Coldwinds:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wjd3kOdepAA&list=PLMCoq7Q9V5b0dmAB2AJLqOsi7VsM4Rgtm&index=5
Does anyone else feel like the previous Coldwind maps matched better with the theme of the game? I mean a horror game at daytime? I just really want BHVR to make coldwind dark again. It's too bright in my opinion.
I would love to see other opinions about this.😊
Mate, the old Coldwind realm was by far my favourite even though as killer they were still survivor sided.
I miss the gloomy golden skies of the old maps and I hate what they did to this realm. Why they made it daytime is just beyond me, it totally kills the ambience of the maps and they lost all the charm they had imo.
Thing is, I don't mind what they did with the Autohaven and Macmillian realms as they mostly gave them a graphical upgrade but stayed true to the feel and aesthetic of the maps. But for Coldwind I feel they completely destroyed it and I wish there was an option to play an older version of the game (Oni was the last DLC where I felt the game was in a good place).
-
May I remind you that the hatch is 100% for survivors benefit and it forces killers to slug for a 4k if they wish to.
-
Trouble is BHVR have been very slow to react to the many valid frustrations of killers so the problem has become self perpetuating like the sweat of SBMM causing both sides to play in an unfun manner.
I actually played a couple of survivor games last night and I got a killer just like this, a poor Wraith with 1 tier 1 perk and I waited quite a while for that match. Needless to say he lost that match since the other survivors whose profiles I could see also had thousands of hours in game.
There clearly wasn't enough suitable killers to match to us so after a certain amount of time it just matched us to this poor baby killer. Now do you think this guy is going to keep playing DBD when this is his experience as a new player?
A lot of the killer mains I know no longer play the game at all and I am sure a lot of the experienced killers either switched to survivor or left the game some time ago. I know I rarely ever play now and when I do I never play killer now.
-
It is part of the vicious circle that SBMM and perks like COH created. Killers now routinely camp and tunnel off hook as the game put many in a position where they feel they have no choice. In turn survivors reacted to the new killer meta but also stepping up the sweatiness and part of that means it is not really viable to be running non-meta against killers who frequently camp and tunnel off hook because they have to.
-
Preschool, RPD (it looks great though) and I really dislike Azarov's and Suffocation Pit as they always force you to play a boring 3 gen strat as killer
-
I think Trapper is probably the easiest to play so long as you have at least some game knowledge and common sense to place traps smartly. Unfortunately he is also pretty weak so matches can end up being pretty depressing
-
Yeah I am a survivor main and only played survivor for my first 400 or so hours in game. Once I actually started to try killer... yeah... I understand.
-
I used to watch streamers a lot but I rarely ever so since I pretty much never play DBD these days (1 match in the last two weeks). It can be a good way to learn a lot or discuss things with a community you get to know if you frequent the same streams a lot.

It's the only one that matters. Consoles come and go but PC is what the game was built on and sustained by. The belief that it's doing poorly on it's home but great elsewhere is kind of naive. Probability and averages would suggest it's doing the same on all platforms.
Yep it should be remembered that Steam is the largest/most successful PC platform by a long way. Also worth considering that DLC's did bump the player numbers upon release and while they still do, the bump is marginal at best and doesn't take away from the overall trend of people leaving the game.
Either way the game is not dead but if something doesn't change it will keep heading down the path to being a dead game. The more this downward trend continues the worse it will get as matches will be harder to find and they will start substituting bots for players just to get a match happening.
-
I suggested him as a potential DLC many times before he got put in the game but when he did I was very disappointed. Of course fun is subjective but I quickly realised he is far from fun to verse and adds himself to the list of the unfun killers added since Oni (Twins, Trickster, Slinger etc). I very much just want to kill myself first hook to get out of Pinhead games, those chains are just plain annoying
-
I really hated it and was very glad to see it go and I feel that the licenced content maps are all pretty much the worst maps in DBD (Haddonfun, preschool, Midwich and Hawkins previously).
-
Nah, that would be too strong. Getting that first hook as killer is where the game changes and most killers know the common feeling of losing 2 gens fairly fast but once you get that hook the pressure starts to snowball. Being able to instantly locate survivors dramatically increases your chances of getting that first hook before a gen is even done. On strong killers like Nurse or Blight that can set the match up in your favour right from the start

While you are completely correct; the game would be worse without the hatch.
The hatch forces the Survivor to move around and look for it. Without it, a Survivor would just immerse and hide for 40 minutes while the Killer tries to find them. After all, without the hatch, they can't do gens, and they can't open the gates.
I guess an alternative would be that the gates power up when 1 Survivor is left, but depending on the map & Killer; that would either be a guaranteed escape or just a slow death. And not fair for the Killer, since he stopped 3/4 of the team before 5 gens popped, only for them to pop anyways.
That is actually a good point that I had not considered and I remember before EGC how there would be those very annoying survivors who would just hide and hold you hostage in a match that was already over.
Well either way, I am not a big fan of the hatch mechanic and would be open to suggestions on how to change or at least improve it
-
Well the fact the killer has to slug to avoid the last survivor getting a free and often undeserved escape is due to an entirely survivor sided mechanic - the hatch.
The hatch is of no benefit whatsoever to killers, it is there only to give survivors another option to escape. As a survivor main I hate the hatch and want it removed for the exact reason it forces the killer to slug and being slugged for minutes at a time while the killer tries to find the last survivor is not fun. I don't blame killers for doing it, I blame the hatch mechanic
-
I wonder how often survivors complete 5 gens against a baby killer who got no hooks and actually feel bad for them? Or do they just bully and teabag them to make sure the experience is even more depressing?

Err, what is the outplay.
1. Block line of sight.
2. Use dead hard if youre running it.
3. Try to double back.
Half the maps you cant lose line of sight effectively so its gameover.
Main outplays for Nurse are of course double back but that seems to be all survivors do. It pays to shake it up and not do the same thing every time, also faking window vaults, running wide and generally being confusing can all make a Nurse second guess. You want to force them to predict rather than allow reaction.
Though much like Bubba, Billy or Huntress and many other killers, if you get caught out in the open you are probably going to go down if the Nurse is decent. But DH is a free second chance to get to a LOS blocker and also never underestimate holding W against a Nurse (unless they have range).
Being super stealthy is also annoying for a Nurse as her base movement speed is so slow she cant afford to spend too long walking around looking for you. Immersed survivors are one of the most annoying things imo but it can actually be quite effective
-
Yes they do, then wonder why they get destroyed so easily and have to come to the forums requesting Nurse gets nerfed.
I found when I was playing a lot I got quite sloppy due to most survivors being completely brain dead and having two tactics in their repertoire: Double backs and pressing E to outplay.
When I faced actual decent survivors I often got caught out as I just expected the usual one trick survivors and when I had to actually think I struggled.
-
I would say do not prestige unless you main a specific survivor/killer and just want to for the sake of it. Anyone who does it expecting to find vast riches in their bloodweb is in for a big disappointment.
-
It is a real shame as the map looks great and they really did a fantastic job of recreating the map. But the real bummer thing to admit is that it just doesn't play well in DBD and I find myself audibly groaning when it loads in and that is whether I play killer or survivor. It runs horribly too with massive FPS drops and I have a very decent PC

Just to be clear, there’s nothing wrong with slugging. And them being good at slugging definitely doesn’t make them ineffective.
No there isn't anything wrong with using slugging to gain pressure, I was a Nurse main (I don't play at present) so I definitely understand the value of slugging. But when it is the main strategy it makes for very unfun matches on the survivor side

So Oni is a horrible concept too? Blight and Nurse must be awful as well.
Most killers playing the ideal way boils down to slugging/camping and that is the truth. Bubba's entire playstyle is based around camping and punishing unhooks. Blight and Nurse are notorious tunnel strong killers since they can take second chance perks and still catch up within seconds with little punishment, and Oni gets WAY more value out of slugging than most since not slugging means your power gets canceled. The only difference is Twins is punished for nearly every decision she makes, and to even try to get pressure going she has to try and slug, and even then she STILL has one of the most counterable camping strategies and slugging can easily be avoided as well if people just stick to groups of two.
People just hate twins because they don't want to realize her "bad design" is just how most killers play yet and she still doesn't do it as efficiently as others.
As above, nothing wrong with using these strategies but when it is pretty much the only real strategy the killer has by design...
Show me a survivor who says they actually enjoy versing Twins and I will show you a noob or a liar
-
The entire concept is horrible imo, a killer that encourages slugging and camping as their ideal way to be played is bad for the game. Right from the botched DLC release they were cursed, it is one of the DLC's I absolutely refused to buy.
