  • Inconsistent noise notifications for me...sometimes doesn't trigger at all, sometimes triggers every second as though the survivor is spamming M1 on the chest. Have not noticed more chests and can't comment on their rarity.

I have seen it work in the basement though, so furthers the inconsistent thought.

It makes you wonder if they actually test things after they input "fixes".

But I wasn't mainly referring to that even, I am mainly confused by the "mask defines the voice now" bug. Like, literally, how?

The one white face shape outline mask did that when it was in the Legion archives, so it's something we've seen before, they just somehow spread the bug from that one mask to all of them. Which, speaking as a programmer myself, that's impressive breaking something that hard, I'd need to try to spread a problem that far at my job...

The two actions not having animations was a thing last chapter. I'm just confused as to why it wasn't fixed. Its blatantly obvious and actually makes the game look like its in Beta.

Anyway, I'm really confused at how some of these bugs would even come into being. Like all the Legion ones. They literally make no sense. Its like someone was fiddling with things in the background for funsies and accidentally put it into the live patch.

For the legion one, apparently Frank's Mixtape was bugged and they fixed it for this patch, and my best guess is that fix also broke Legion's power. Which...how do you not notice that when you're testing the fix? ...I guess that's just basic BHVR for you though.

Kinda sad how the OG killers like Trapper and Doctor are drenched in blood, but the newer ones like Oni and Demo are just a few splotches here and there.

PH has excellent P1/P2, P3 is mediocre...but he's the only one in recent memory that got a good P3. Oni's particularly makes me sad since you'd think someone who's literally based around collecting blood would have more blood on him after a while...

But then why have a Fog Whisperer program if you don't plan to utilize it? Pretty ######### stupid if you ask me

It's been interesting watching the narrative Fog Whisperers have had about their own program in the last half year. We've gone from multiple of them saying they were talking to the devs about problems and whatnot to, at least the ones I watch, saying their role is to pretty much just advertise the game. Makes it kinda feel like they got told to stop complaining and giving feedback and just make with the happy gameplay. I have no evidence for this beyond what I've seen the narrative shift towards from the FWs I watch, but it does seem odd.

Jesus, even the patch notes aren't reliable anymore.

I'll ask around and see if it works for anyone else.

The notifications work inconsistently, which is consistent with the patch notes. I can't comment on the other parts of it working or not, but the notifications don't seem to be working correctly. Sometimes they won't trigger at all, sometimes there's a notification every second which doesn't make logical sense...so I do think the patch notes are correct.

  • Legion lost his frenzy movespeed.

Power Struggle has so many "well it may not work if you do X" bugs it may as well not exist.

  • I can't find a reason to play them either outside of retaining my 100% achievements. Planning on getting them with shards, getting them to 40, getting their achievements, and then shelving them for good. As much as I like their base concept the execution has made them not worth playing.

I do see that in the rest of the thread. The thing that rubbed me the wrong what is that folks are telling @KingOfGhost to learn to read when the Dev's track recored shows the opposite of what they are telling us.

King as every right to be suspicious and disappointed about that post.

I had just responded to you, simply because you were the first to jump on him.

The issue I take with that is he wasn't acting suspicious. He straight up said "every event will now just be login rewards and codes" which is objectively untrue. Had he said anything about "I don't think two larger events are worth the others being turned into this" that's valid criticism and more power to him for expressing it. But his title statement is just straight up untrue, and he doesn't follow it up with anything saying the other part of it, which is why I asked what I did.

Last year they said they were cutting back on events and things were going to be in the rift, so they could have more time to fix the game. How's that working out?

There's constant bugs, they are now releasing unfinished DLC, and they wouldn't even admit Blight' POV was too low until we all say he was standing in the ground because of that bug. Where's the MMR, hit validation, and console optimization?

Take a look at the rest of my posts in the thread - I am more than happy to criticize the devs when they don't follow through on promises...I've got a thread in feedback saying they should delay the Twins until they fix the locker exploit (and had people telling me I was too harsh and whatnot) and every other time they've mucked something up I'm here stating my displeasure.

What I'm not willing to do is criticize an idea if the idea is good. It's a good idea, what they're proposing here. If they don't follow through you can fully expect me to be annoyed and typing up criticism here. But I'm also not willing to say "well yeah right, I'll believe it when I see it" because that's gotta be demoralizing to read...why even bother at that point? I'm happy to say "yes, I like the way this sounds, please actually do this" because it gives them the positive feedback necessary to tell them they should do this. And if they mess it up or don't follow through, I will be all too happy to provide the negative feedback they deserve at that point.

Bro I swear this community picks and chooses whichever parts of a dev statement fits their narrative of "dev bad" and ignores everything else.

Yeah, I'm definitely usually critical of the game/the devs, but this one was pretty blatantly a good thing across the board.

  • @KingOfGhost said:

bigger and better event should be the halloween but they have plan nothing for it. So when devs say we try the same thing but maybe add samething to make it look good you know it gonna be bad.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1774800#Comment_1774800

But tell me are you ok with event that like thoes ?

And I quote from the article: "We’ve heard your feedback from the recent Eternal Blight event, and this plan is our first step working  towards events that truly feel special by allowing us to focus on which events need the most effort. "

If next year's Blight is bad then yes, the criticism will be valid and moreso because they've claimed they're going to work hard on it and the anniversary event to avoid another disappointment. But until the anniversary event at the very least, I'm not going to call them out for making the other events less involved because we haven't seen what the extra time they've given themselves results in.

  • In all seriousness, did you read what they were saying? They're going to do bigger things for the anniversary and Halloween events moving forward, but to put the time and effort into that they had to scale the other events back. I'm certainly not one to sing their praises, but I'm completely ok with BHVR putting out two good events and a few minor ones instead of being mediocre year round.

  • A good while ago going to the gate was a good choice...you got hits, they got the escape, and everyone got as much BP out of the game as they could at that point without deliberately farming. In those days I was happy to go to the gate.

At some point in my long, year and a half break from the game, the meta shifted and standing at the gates was purely for BM. It's well under half the time that someone lets me get a single hit in now, it's just "wait until they're in lunge range and run out lol!" at best or TBag and leave before a chase could start at worst. I'd much rather pull up a short video and not bother with it, much healthier from a stress perspective. Alternatively if I know hatch is far from a gate I'll go post up there so no one gets it.

  • I enjoyed the occasional Billy game for the meme of just running around a map with my chainsaw, if a survivor ran into me it was their own fault. Can't do that anymore, and I disliked the backhanded way his nerf was handled. "He's skill-focused and has good counterplay so the more skilled player wins" turned into "he's overtuned, NERF BAT" in about a week.

Devs don't care about the community and its all money?

1,000*52=52,000 Auric cells in a year

That is alot of money devs just sacrificed, along with this 10 people got a copy of the game, then another 10 got a copy of the game with cosmetics for Blight and Felix, along with blight and felix, etc

It also is a relatively predatory contest, where you can't submit even one entry without agreeing to sign up for their newsletter. The free promotions pushed to everyone who signs up for the contest, even if people cancel after a single one, is more than likely to make up the $520 from the cells in people reminded of cosmetics they want.

This is why I dislike breakable walls in general.

They are implemented all wrong. A breakable wall should be a choice but not needed. It should add to the game while still giving both sides a chance if its left alone or broken.

Take this window the killer needs to break it or its a 100% safe window with a long loop. Now when the killer does break it it makes the storehouse less safe overall due to the removal of the pallets.

I just feel its not fun for either side this way.

Agreed. Breakable walls either fall under the "you have to break this structure to make it even remotely balanced" or "well, that one's not going down against any sane killer" and it's just not engaging. Load into Dead Dawg? Well, you'd better be ready to break that wall next to the upper floor window asap. Load into Groaning Storehouse? Better be ready to break the new god wall. Load into Badham? Break the House of Pain wall but don't touch the school ones to make the school stupidly unsafe for survivors. It's just not engaging gameplay. May as well just put a predropped pallet in front of the good ones like some people have said, since that's their function when they need to be broken.

Bro I just hate the Game. It may be considered killer sided I guess (I thought it was considered survivor sided but I guess I'm wrong) but I lose very often on the game.

It's survivor sided until the pallets are gone, as most pallets are super safe. So if the survivors are good about getting on gens and getting them done, the map is likely still survivor sided. Once the pallets are gone though, it's a super killer-sided map as there's almost nothing else to work with. Had a Blight game there last night where a David quick dropped the two god pallets near the bathroom in my first chase with him, very pre-emptively. Knew then and there I'd won the game since he continued to feed the pallets to me, leaving his teammates with nothing.

  • @Ryan489x said:

As killer I just play, if the survivors act like jerks then I return the favour. I really don't play like a jerk as survivor and I never expect to be given the hatch. If I do it's lucky.

just a quick question. did hook communications change? when I first started playing grabbing the hook and letting go meant that the killer was camping you, now it seems to mean come rescue me.

Hook wiggling is fairly meaningless nowadays...some people think it means come rescue, some think it means stay away...I remember the old days of stay away so it's what I assume now, but I also always run Kindred so unless insidious is in play I can usually tell which one they mean.

  • If I'm killing, hatch is a contextual thing - if the last player wasn't a jerk, played super well, or had such a bad game I feel bad for them, I'll typically toss them the hatch/let them get out the gate. If they were an ass, then there's no way I'm letting them take it if I can stop them.

If I'm surviving, I don't ever expect hatch. I can't really remember the last time a killer let me have it, honestly. If I'm given it it's a nice surprise, but definitely not something I feel entitled to, no matter how the game's gone.

  • I prefer killer but play more survivor because it's both less stressful and I can play with friends.

  • You know how this problem could be fixed? By making a chapter with perks like this free. We've not gotten a free chapter since Huntress back in year 2...I remember them saying some would be paid and some would be free...a free chapter with good newb friendly perks would be a major boon to new players (when this game has the worst new player experience I know of)...but instead we get things like Zanshin Tactics on Oni (paid), Visionary on Felix (paid), Technician on Feng Min (paid on some platforms, free on others), and Windows of Opportunity on Kate (paid)...but sure, let's give all players immediate access to Beast of Prey and Territorial Imperative!

I'm not salty about the paid DLCs, it makes sense keeping a game alive this long needs some paid stuff, but I also distinctly remember them saying some DLCs would be free and it's been literal years since we've gotten one...and when the Halloween event this time around is the most predatory BHVR has been (even AFTER their backpedal) I struggle to believe they need the money from yet another chapter.

  • I think the main issue I have with OOO is there is literally no counterplay. Like, as flimsy as the argument is, just slugging the DS or not slugging the Unbreakable, soloing gens against Discordance or powering through Ruin Undying...they do technically all have counters. OOO you literally can do nothing against, it's on and you don't have any way to fight it. None. If the person running it is a potato then yeah, ez kill, but if they're good, that's one person you will never catch. If they're on comms, there is no winning the game from the beginning as long as the other survivors react to what the OOO is telling them.

It's a problematic perk for a number of reasons, but if there's one thing the devs have, occasionally, listened to, it's the idea of counterplay. OOO has none. You cannot counter it, you cannot prevent it, you cannot work around it. If things like Pop are considered too oppressive by the devs, when that has a perk counter now with Repressed Alliance, AND requires a hook to use at all, the always on, no way to stop it OOO is, by that very logic, too strong.

  • We've been asking for colorblind support for literal years and either get "we're looking into that" or "well, blood would be unfair if we changed it so clearly we can't do anything about anything else" (despite the fact multiple colorblind players like myself have said we're fine not being able to see blood if we could customize scratchmark and aura colors) so I'm not holding my breath there.

That being said I'm really sorry you had an epileptic seizure playing, that's awful...colorblindness is a hindrance but it's not detrimental to my health to not see things correctly, I 100% agree there should be a warning about Doctor if he can cause actual seizures.

  • Myers and Ghostface. I spin the camera like I'm supposed to and watch out for them but I swear the people who play them well excel at waiting for me to turn the camera away from them before looking for them, which gets me grabbed off gens early on if I don't know who it is yet. Once I know who it is my extra paranoia tends to get me through ok, but that first couple minutes hurts every time.

  • You need to have gotten to Rift Tier 69 to get all your cells back. Your tome progress is not related.

  • I actually genuinely like Hawkins. The pallets being semi-safe at best means looping isn’t a strategy that works well, which is great for me as a survivor since I can’t loop despite my four digit hour count. Instead erratic dodging and mindgames win the day and it’s honestly pretty fun. Killer it’s nice to be able to punish the loop attempts fairly quickly and it’s not overly difficult to navigate as either side.

  • I play both sides, and I don’t play like that. I will say my counter to getting last second BMed is to not show up at the exit gates. If I have no pressure and they’re all obviously just waiting to butt dance their way out of the map, then I’ll just mess around with my power as far from the gates as I can until EGC forces them out. I can’t say how much toxicity I’ve avoided this way because I’ve, well, avoided it, but that’s the point now isn’t it?

  • Wrong platform for platinum but I’ve had 100% achievements for a while. Lost them with blight of course, but I’m only missing two heals while everyone is hurt and I’ll be back at 100%. Taking One For The Team remains the one that was the straight up most frustrating one to complete, but that’s largely because I got Left Behind long before EGC was a thing.

  • Thanks for tagging me here @2ndBusiestmusicnerd , just now seeing it since I’ve been busy the last couple days here but wouldn’t have seen the thread at all without it...

I’m Regal. Lived in the Midwest US my whole life (closer to 3 decades than 2)...senior software developer, worked my way up at the place I started at right out of college. Married as of almost a year ago, living in the starter apartment I got when I moved here for work, though looking to move to a house in the next year.

Oddly enough, I normally hate horror. I scare easily, suffered from almost nightly nightmares as a child, and am generally faint of heart. But I saw this game played on a couple of YouTube channels back when it was in Beta, thought it was interesting, and finally convinced myself to buy it shortly after Hag came out. Took a break after Pig came out and returned shortly before Oni, stopped again before Deathslinger and came back for Pyramid Head. I honestly can’t say why I keep coming back other than it scratches an itch that nothing else really does.

Other than DbD, I’m a huge gamer just in general, putting DbD sized hours into games like Monster Hunter World, Tales of Maj’Eyal (which I can 100% recommend to anyone who likes full sized roguelikes), and the Dark Souls trilogy collectively. Tried streaming for a while but did too much too soon and burned out on it, though I’m not averse to trying again sometime in the future. Though I haven’t done anything with it since I graduated due to apartment living, I love music and minored in french horn performance at college. I miss it dearly and part of my wanting a house is for practice space...

Avid reader, avid swimmer (in a non-COVID world anyway), and while I enjoy golf I don’t get out for it nearly enough to be any good at it. Have a cat and two fish tanks, and will almost certainly have a dog once we have a yard for one.

That’s about all I’ve got, though I’m more than happy to elaborate on things if people want. Cool thread idea though, nice to learn about some of ya!

  • I don't use teachable perks on any survivor except the one who owns it. Keeps survivors from being skins and forces me to learn different playstyles. My two favorite survivors are Bill and Cheryl, and neither of them own an exhaustion perk, so therefore I don't "get" to use one. Still have plenty of fun without them, or DS for that matter...

  • Noticed this playing Felix and Cheryl as well, and can confirm Blight, Doctor, and Wraith all seem to have this issue. Weirdly Bubba seemed fine.

  • @Crowman said:

I picked someone off the ground who had recovered at least half way and then fully healed them and got credited 2 for that achievement.

So it's just bringing someone from Dying -> Injury or Injured -> Healthy.

The problem being it's not consistent is what we're saying. I've definitely full healed people while people are injured, but they're not crediting towards the achievement.

  • @elasticheart said:

The fact that it doesn't count towards the achievement progress if you're one of the three injured people just hurts me to the bones. I would've gotten it by now. But that one is gonna take a while as of its current state.

I've also not gotten progress when everyone else is injured and I heal someone, so I don't even think that scenario is counted. I haven't had much chance to confirm it but I vaguely feel like it's somehow watching for there to be three people still injured after the heal is completed? Meaning you either need all four injured, or you heal someone from downed to injured.

  • @whispersenthusiast said:

Are you sure that they're complete health states heals? If you heal someone for 30% you have to heal the other 70% at some point for it to count as a health state, I'm pretty sure

Definitely full health states. We'll Make It and healing directly off hook confirms it.

As much as I don't really want to ping, @MandyTalk is this achievement known to be bugged right now?

  • I have never felt this demoralized playing a new killer day one. Seriously, everyone seems to already know how to counter him, and I’ve gotten the 30 hits without the adept, and I genuinely can’t rememebr when that last happened on day 1 with a new killer. Extremely frustrated right now.

  • 36 for me, not counting the stored challenges on level 3 I have done. Confident I'll finish in time at this point, no reason why I shouldn't.

  • I’ve seen two Billys since the rework, they both were terrible and didn’t seem to know how to play him so I can’t really say I’ve faced a competent one since the rework. I couldn’t tell you what his new music was, keep thinking of Deathslinger’s instead. And I’m a huge music buff so it’s weird saying I genuinely don’t know what it is.

  • @goatslinger said:

I have not noticed much difference. Besides the occasional good nurse or huntress most pc players are equally inept as their console counterparts. I will say the proxy and tunnel is much, much, much more of a strat for PC gamers it seems.

I’m a PC player and have experienced the opposite: console killers have been the more likely to camp/tunnel. Had a game today where I was the second one hooked, and for reasons I genuinely don’t know (usually I can find SOMETHING in my play that the killer found scummy since I play 50/50) I got hard camped until Dead. I wasn’t even mad, just wanted to know what I did to deserve it since the first person didn’t get camped, and no one else did, but they were a console player and therefore I was unable to ask.

I’m not saying every console killer camp’s and tunnels, just like I’m not saying every PC killer is all roses, but I’ve had more memorable games in that direction with the crossolay symbol over the killer than not since crossplay turned on.

  • Much appreciated as always!

  • As a colorblind player who's been advocating for colorblind options since 2017, please leave us out of your vitriol. Just hurts the argument that it's something we should have when the "whataboutism" peons ignore for the hundred and first time that I said I'm ok with not being able to see blood that there's also anger threads connecting colorblindness to something else, regardless of the legitimacy of that other thing.

But people gotta realize there is no reason to nerf it other than deactivating on hook. Besides to much complaining from the new players who didnt play back then.

I personally like the suggestion that multiple people have put forward, where DS no longer has a timer but is deactivated when you either put yourself back into the game (by doing something other than healing yourself or walking around/running from the killer) or when the killer hooks someone else without you being in the dying state (to avoid being slugged until they can get someone else). While I know that the original intent of DS wasn't anti-tunnel, the comment people constantly point out to that effect was talking about old DS. New DS they've never claimed was or wasn't anti-tunnel, and intent or not, it's how it's seen as meant to be used...so make it truly anti-tunnel. You jump into a locker? It's off now. Repair a gen? You were comfortable enough to do it so you can't be being tunneled. Not sure if you're going to get tunneled? Stay back for a second and see if the killer shows up, waste their time and then stab them anyway instead of trying to force the 59 second DS. Suddenly it's extremely good for anti-tunnel, but useless for the offensive plays, and doesn't punish the killer for just happening to find you after they got someone else.

  • @EuphoricBliss35 said:

Old DS: can use it after first or second hook. You’re call. No timer. Only counter was to dribble a player to a hook. And if you weren’t close enough, you either had to leave them or eat it. All while dealing with Instaheal medkits (1 and 2 health states). And people think 4 man SWFs are sweaty now 🤣🤣🤣

This game will never be “balanced“ because there will always be something to complain about lol

I played during original DS. It was broken. That does not mean there can be no criticism of current DS.

  • Step 1: are you playing DbD?

Yes: sounds are bugged in some way.

No: uncertain as to whether sounds are bugged.

  • Depippers or rift grinders, since fragments are earned by playing matches. Unfortunately the way to punish them hurts you too (genrush and leave asap) which is frustrating.

  • DS has three sides for me as a killer (I refuse to use it as a survivor because I don't use teachables on survivors and I don't play Laurie).

Side 1: If it's used defensively, where I objectively have tunneled you (though usually because the rescuer found a portal to Narnia), then yes, that's a good use of the perk and it's my fault I got hit with it.

Side 2: If it's used offensively, where you're in my face constantly, quick vaulting into lockers, and being an insufferable (insert bad word here)...that's when I hate the perk most, because I can do literally nothing about it, especially since you have to assume people playing like that have unbreakable too, so now they're literally invincible for a minute.

Side 3: If it's the 59 second DS, where I've gone and found someone else, chased them, downed them, hooked them, and then just happened to find you and downed you again, only to be hit by it...that just feels unfair and punishing me for not having four physical timers near me, one for each survivor, where I start them counting when an unhook happens. I didn't tunnel, I didn't play scummy, but because you have a get out of jail free card I get punished because I happened to find you after hooking the other person. Even "better" when there's fewer than four survivors left in the match.

  • His perks are the best we've seen in a long time for killers.

His power is an immense letdown for the most built up killer we've ever had. He's been a shadowy figure ever since Hallowed Blight began, got a full page of lore in the first tome that showed how his intelligence fused with his addiction...and now his power is to slam into walls. Feels like a major letdown.

  • Honestly though. I stopped playing because I felt bad going against people who were very obviously new so often. Not out to ruin the game for new players...

  • Accessibility would be wonderful, as nice as the new new auras are, I would love them even more if they weren't freaking RED.

  • Cheryl is weirdly quiet when you're crouched. She's pretty loud if you're running/walking, but her sound gets cut way more than normal it feels like if you're crouching.
