Basicly made him into even more of a hillbilly rip-off

He's already a weaker Hillbilly, except right now he has LITERALLY no advantage over him. With my changes, he will be better at close range.

Pro tip: include a TLDR. No one has time for that #########.

Making him move faster when swinging the saw wouldn't do much. It would help but the difference wouldn't be too noticeable.

The BIG QOL change he needs is that he shouldn't be slowed down while revving the saw. That's the big kick to the balls for him. Because of that slowdown he can't bait them to throw down a pallet like Hillbilly. Not to mention that it's harder to catch up to them. If they use Sprint Burst or Lithe or even Dead Hard to get some distance he's screwed unlike Billy. Billy can catch right back up to them so long as they didn't make it to pallet land or window city.

A lot of people have different ideas on how to buff him. Some ideas are:

Making him way better at breaking pallets (assuming the first QOL change goes through). This can be achieved by having him recover much faster than Billy when breaking pallets AND when he swing his saw and they throw down a pallet he will either (A) always break it or (B) is not slowed down while breaking it so he could Juggernaut right through the pallet drop.

One of my ideas is that you lower his terror radius to about 24 like Hag is currently. This way you make more of a stealthy Billy when you put Monitor and Abuse on him. And it would be nice to have at least 3 Killers who would really benefit from Monitor and Abuse.

    Now, my TLDR:

Give him normal movement speed when revving the saw like Billy.

And either make him better at breaking pallets or give him a lower terror radius.

Bubba is supposed to be slower than Billy, that's the whole trade-off. He's slower but supposed to be EXTREMELY dangerous once he's close to you.

The Tl;Dr is just reading my changes.

  • Feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks to ASpazNamedSteve for helping me narrow ideas down.

  • TOTH not being a totem would actually be pretty significant, no more guessing which totem is Ruin and which totem is Thrill.

Two people best you that as well. And I thought we were going with Killers Anonymous

    Me like Noob Stompers.

  • Hooking three times wouldn't be an issue if:
    1. Chases weren't so obscenely long
    2. Generators weren't the survivors' only objective

  • This and last second switching by survivors is so easy to fix.

  • @only1biggs said:
Didn't they change this already? Or they said they were going to? :/

They may have said they would but they haven't. If they don't plan to, then they need to rework every instant down killer except Billy, because we're obviously not supposed to play them.

I never remembered them saying this though, I can't confirm either way.

I believe noed also falls into this category?

And MYC, and Devour Hope, and Myers, and Trapper's traps.

  • If the developers don't see a problem with this, then remove instant downs from the game, theyr'e not intended to be used.

As LF you literally have to slug and farm M1 hits to score well in Chaser, which is as boring for everyone as camping is.

  • @Runiver said:
Hag 120% speed would be hilarious. I'd give you that.
Tho, I'm not sure you realize how strong it is to run 5% faster in this game to suggest such things.

Hag at 120%? I want to see the thicc bois Bubba and Kenneth haul ass at 120%.

  • Several more 3k safeties because of silver chaser and a bronze Gatekeeper, neither of which I have any control over whatsoever.

Feels great devs, I'm sure these level 13s are glad I'll be at their ranks even longer.

  • Anyone is welcome, regardless of main! :)

  • Re-opening the basement as of 07/20/2018!

Someone already stated that killers never gather in one spot. However it was indicated that killers occasionally bump into each other. I think this would play out as:
    Michael bumps into Hillbilly.
    Hillbilly bumps into Michael.
They stare at each other for a second.
The entity whispers for both to move on.
The two killers walk past each other.

I believe every killer does something different. Michael continues hunting for Laurie, Hillbilly relentlessly hunts something to kill, animal or person. The Clown checks the fingers on his chain.

Neither one, in fact no killer to our knowledge, understands the Entity.

  • @jester said:
It's said that they "aren't enjoying themselves" and some of them have to be coerced into killing. I believe that in-between trials- The Entity it torturing them to keep them in line. (sorry if this has already been said!)

It hasn't been said yet. Yeah by the description of Leatherface's mark add-ons, Billy's mark add-ons and NOED, the Entity doesn't exactly treat them to some down time in-between trials.

It's curious to me that Leatherface would get it though, considering his entire existence, in the movie and in DBD lore, is loyal, willful subservience.

    Thanks!

EHEM! There is no “leatherbilly” it’s either basement face, or leather daddy, no in between!!!

I run a discord entitled "The Basement" wherein I call all Leather Daddies to join. What does that make me, if not a Leatherbilly?

  • Here's the problem with Leatherface and why his camping is so overrated. If you proxy camp (even the basement), as soon as they hear your terror radius, they can run back into the basement and enter a locker.

Now you're guaranteed to only get one of them, and you could've accomplished the exact same thing as any other instant down killer. Therefore, Leatherface's notorious "multiple instant downs" should literally never come to fruition.

  • Leatherface, Wraith, Pig, Hag and Billy.

Leatherface and Billy have instant downs, Bubba punishing both heavily, Wraith and Pig ignore Borrowed Time and can hide near the hook, and Hag can teleport back in from a distance.

  • Teabagging is the natural response of survivors when they spot a potential predator; it indicates their willingness to run around a loop and click their flashlights.

The Doctor has the same exact counterplay as the Clown. The Clown gasses a loop? Move to the next one. The Doctor shocks you? Calmly walk to the next nearest loop.

I mean you don't even need to do that for Clown. If you just camp the pallet as soon as you get to it and drop it, the fact he now has to go around or break the pallet offsets whatever the gas might do, unless he's stacking all duration addons.

Nevertheless the same is true of the Doctor, just move to the next loop. He has to slow down to switch stances and to shock. Pallets and structures are close enough such that you can safely just move to the next one.

Then all the Doctor accomplished was wasting his own time.

  • The Doctor has the same exact counterplay as the Clown. The Clown gasses a loop? Move to the next one. The Doctor shocks you? Calmly walk to the next nearest loop.

  • If you're new to killer, you don't stand a prayer against experienced survivors, try not to take the losses to heart. You will want the teachable BBQ&Chili from The Cannibal DLC ($4) ASAP to get bloodpoints faster.

Other than this, learn the basic fundamentals, if you have specific questions please ask, add me on Steam (Leatherbilly) if you want to ask questions!

I strongly recommend picking one killer to start out with and sticking to them for a while, learning them in and out and outfitting them with a load-out that works. Here's a bit about each killer to help you pick one, it's more about your playstyle than anything at this point:

    Recommended Killers

    The Hillbilly

Max Thompson is the second most powerful killer in the game, sporting both tremendous map pressure and an instant down. Once you learn how to control his initial flick at the beginning of the charge, how to handle close range chainsaws, knowing when not to rev up and a few other tricks, he becomes exceptionally effective.

Strengths: Map pressure, mobility, instant downs
    Weaknesses: Loopable, initial difficulty

    The Wraith

Philip Ojomo is the second weakest killer in Dead By Daylight and is a stealth killer, but he teaches you the fundamentals of outplaying survivors because his power contributes little to his ability to chase, but helps you find survivors to initiate said chases. I don't recommend playing him long-term, but he's okay to learn the game on.

    Strengths: Easy to use
Weaknesses: Highly loopable, very few strengths, Sprint Burst

    The Cannibal

Bubba "Junior" Sawyer, or Leatherface, is straightforward to learn but still has a decent skill cap with which to learn and improve. He's fairly effective, and has 3 of the best perks in the game. You'll want BBQ&Chili ASAP to rank up faster by the way. Only downside is he's paid DLC, but it's the cheapest killer DLC at $4. He is the best at punishing altruism in the entire game.

Strengths: Instant downs, easy to pick up, punishes altruism
Weaknesses: Paid DLC, loopable, Sprint Burst

    Optional Killers

    The Shape

Michael Myers is the best licensed killer in Dead By Daylight, but he is highly, highly add-on reliant and not as easy as he may initially seem to get the hang of. That said, he transitions into a very serviceable killer once you learn the game and get into the more competitive ranks. Myers is the strongest stealth killer in Dead By Daylight, so if you enjoy jump-scaring survivors and being generally sneaky, Michael is a excellent choice. He punishes some loops by stalking the survivors down and via an extended lunge & faster vaults can cut down on some looping. Try to get 99% Evil Within II and juice it up to III when you want access to your instant downs.

Strengths: Stealth, instant downs, combats looping
Weaknesses: Still loopable, wastes time stalking

    The Doctor

Herman Carter is a little harder than the likes of Wraith to learn, but is fairly effective once you get add-ons for him; therein lies the rub though, he really needs his add-ons. He is useful at negating survivors' attempts at stealth and can combat some loops, some of the time, but largely relies on mistakes. He can hinder generator progression against many survivors.

Strengths: Anti-stealth, combats some loops, somewhat combats gen-rushing
    Weaknesses: Still loopable

    The Nurse

Sally Smithson is the strongest killer in the game, but she's exceptionally difficult to learn, nearly impossible to master. Everything else is all positives though, because she doesn't really even need add-ons to dominate games, and even with sub-optimal perks a well played Nurse will still be a terror. She's the only killer to truly counter loops.

Strengths: Hard counters loops, short chases, high mobility
    Weaknesses: Difficult to use

    The Huntress

Anna, the Russian, axe-throwing rabbit. The third best killer in the game and can counter many loops, but is the most susceptible to stealth due to her incessant humming and is rather slow, and further wastes time searching lockers. Master her, and she can stomp games, but she's not the easiest killer to pick up, let alone get proficient with.

Strengths: Counters loops, long range attacks, potential instant downs
Weaknesses: Difficult to use, susceptible to stealth

    The Pig

The third stealth killer, Amanda Young has a crouch to ambush and RBTs to prevent exits and waste survivors' time. Relatively perk dependent but her add-ons only help her marginally.

Strengths: Not add-on dependent, wastes survivors' time, prevents escapes
    Weaknesses: Sprint Burst, looping

    Not Recommended

    The Trapper

Evan MacMillan wastes time collecting traps, setting traps, re-setting traps, getting looped, moving traps, ad nauseam. Furthermore, he's a relatively weak killer, though capable of punishing stupidity and poorly chosen looping spots. Traps can be disarmed, destroyed or even ignored due to hitboxes if found.

Strengths: Punishes misplays and counters loops
Weaknesses: Wastes an incredible amount of time, has entirely too much counterplay

    The Hag

Lisa Sherwood is a decent killer when mastered but she's basically an even more difficult to play Trapper with an ocean of counterplay. On top of her difficulty, she's not as effective as Huntress or Nurse, so if you want a difficult killer, learn them instead unless the Hag strikes your fancy.

Strengths: Punishes misplays and can counter loops
Weaknesses: Flashlights, paying attention, Sprint Burst

    The Nightmare

Freddy Kreuger is a special case. If you like the other killers, by all means use them, but for the Entity's sake DO NOT play Freddy. He's pitifully weak and will remain so until the developer's buffs they have for him in the future. Pretend he doesn't exist, don't buy him, don't even think about him in any capacity until he's changed.

Strengths: Is paid DLC so you can't get his dailies
Weaknesses: He's a basic killer with contingencies on his basic attack with a trivially easy to escape Dream World

  • 3k no pip because everyone let go when hooked and the last person escape via hatch so I get horrible chaser and silver malicious.

Seems fair to me that a killer already weaker than the top 3 also gets less emblem points for accomplishing the exact same thing.

  • We'll lose Tinkerer soon, really hope we get something soon. Leatherface will have endured 4 indirect nerfs now since release.

    1. Emblem system punishes defensive play, LF's sole reason to exist
    2. Emblem system gives one hit worth of Malicious to chainsaw instant downs
    3. Emblem system gives one hit worth of Chaser to chainsaw instant downs
    4. Tinkerer will no longer help him in any capacity post-rework
  • The first one would allow for mind games, both to fake rev and to actually rev and force a drop.

Considering he'd still get a speed boost when swinging, he would effectively surpass Hillbilly in close range lethality, and would allow him to mind game slightly better at loops.

  • This is also a multiple-realizable suggestion, from dynamic slow-down as to not slow at the first second but slow down more later, or adding it as a separate mechanic entirely, and many other different ways.

  • @Fropps said:
I love this idea. Mindgames and fakeouts are both things the game needs more of. Upvoted.

That's exactly what I want to see in more killers. I want tools that take skill for killers to exploit while still being something that survivors can outplay.

  • 2 vote downs yet no explanation as to why you dislike the idea. Classy.

    1. Rework Sprint Burst because it hard counters his power (as well as Freddy/Pig/Wraith)
  • Had several 1k safeties and 2k pips recently as Pig and Wraith, it's certainly no coincidence that I'm only depipping regularly on 2k and safetying on 3k as Leatherface.

Is it intentional that 2 kills de-pips 90% of the time or an oversight? This suggests to me that killers are expected to get 3 kills per game on average.

Sure did relieve the stress of playing killer to know I need a 3k to safety.

Yesterday, I got 0k and pipped.

    You probably do something wrong.

The proverbial "git gud" argument. The only thing I'm doing wrong is playing Leatherface. I've pipped on 1k and 2k very frequently as Pig, Wraith and Hillbilly, that's kind of my point. I get to halve my Chaser and Malicious points when using my power as LF.

  • Is it intentional that 2 kills de-pips 90% of the time or an oversight? This suggests to me that killers are expected to get 3 kills per game on average.

The Emblem system nerfed killers that weren't even viable to begin with.

  • There's literally not enough time to get as many Chaser hits as the game wants me to without just not using my power, which defeats the point.

The way the Emblem system is currently balanced is around scoring 2 hits per down, and that directly punishes killers who use instant downs.

  • Still feels pretty bad my power doesn't reduce chase times like other killers' powers yet I still only get 1 hit into Chaser and 1 hit into Malicious for using my chainsaw.

  • Wraith would likely hate everyone else. He only ever killed because he was tricked into murdering inthe first place.

  • Which killers would even get along? They're basically all psychotic except Wraith.

According to McCote in a dev stream once, the Killers go to a campfire just like the survivors, and the Killers also do not know that other killers exist. They are kind of kept in little "entity bubbles" and sometimes bubbles overlap and when they do, [???].
I don't know if that answers the question. I kind of feel like the devs don't even know about their own lore, and just make it up as they go along.

Must have been really confusing for all of them when those hatchets randomly started showing up in the lockers.

    LMAO

  • Anyone care about Leatherface?,....

  • I mean Leatherface ultimately does as the Entity pleases, but isn't good company. Wraith probably reviles everyone else because he's a pretty tragic case.

If the bubbles occasionally overlap and killers have seen each-other, they must know of their mutual existence. Did they fight? Did they throw a bloody streamer party? Did Leatherface share his BBQ?

Considering it counts bodyblocking and such, it's actually decently affordable. Maybe the highest ranks threshold should be slightly downgraded, but concretely, I oftenly have gold as Chaser

I never have issues on Hillbilly or Nurse, and I suspect I wouldn't on Huntress if I weren't terrible and inexperienced at playing her.

I have complaints with Leatherface, Michael and Trapper. I have an ocean of games screenshotted where I have Iridescent in every single emblem but a Silver in Chaser. In any event, these anecdotes are statistically irrelevant, just my experience thus far to contrast with yours.
