Do you know how broken it would be if he could spawn 3 guards at once….

No, as in after you summon a guard and he returns to you, he cannot use another for the next 15s*.

Before the update, the cooldown was only 3s.

His cooldowns are supposed to be split, not universal.

these killer changes ARE the fine tuning. Onryo got changed twice so it is not out of the question those killers to get changed again. It is just that they're overall happy where those killers are at so they're not adding anymore changes.

That's the complaint though. Onryo and Trickster arguably are in a worse state than before, or just as bad. Idk why the balance team doesn't adjust these killers months after their changes are proven to be not enough.

  • Duh he's strong. Doesn't mean he's fun or healthy when you're forced to run speed to have fun.

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

We really do not need to be making S tier killers even stronger.

I fully support fixing his bugs, but he does not need buffs of any kind.

So we just leave him in the state of "Feels terrible to play without speed add ons".

Basic QOL buffs shouldnt be gatekept just because he's strong.

EDIT: Oh yea and why should we not buff him to be just as strong on console as PC?

Absolutely. I'll also continue to keep DCing, or throwing myself at her. Slug me all you want too. I'm on a PC. I have other stuff to occupy my time rather than playing against that filth.

Why does a character in a video game agitate you this much? It's not hard to just play the game, or at worst try and make your own fun by your own playstyles.

    Anyway, skull merchant jumpscare.

Meg success to stun SM at that loops has the skill already far superior than the SM.

But what is the skillful play input from the SM here?

Success mind game the easiest loops in game? No

Success at one step ahead setting-up trap? No

    Still earn the hit.

She earned the hit because the survivor messed up. When survivors make mistakes they are punished regardless of killer input against literally every killer in the game.

If you run into a tree when running away from the killer, the killer had no skillful input, and you got hit, because you messed up. This scenario is the exact same, had she of crouched for just half a second, she could of easily dodged the scan lines and made it to helicopter stairs window and its pallets.

SM fails to mind game even at unsafe pallet. Meg still got injured after her shape reaction. What's the counterplay to not getting injured here?

If he had looked at the drone and crouched for half a second when it went over him he wouldn't of been injured.

That is a skill issue if ive ever seen one.

No, her lore is actually horrible, I don't know if any Tomes have made it better, but her release lore is something I could do better.

She needs more attention, preferably having her current ability nuked and giving her a better and healthier power.

The trope of "character weirdly obsessed with one harmless hobby and manifesting it into violent reality" is good writing and you cannot tell me otherwise.

Her fathers manga being the interest is so niche, but I love it because of that reason. Imagine if her "inspiration" was something generic like video games or car racing. She is unique in literally every aspect, coming from an interesting background and having a unique life unlike any killer in the game.

Also her tome is one of the best tomes in the game but considering most sm haters are just on a bandwagon I'm guessing you and many other people are not gonna take the time to read it.

It has nothing to do with get good. It has only to do with the lack of possible skill expression and frustrating mechanics like random drone hits.

Where is the skill expression on the survivor side against the drones? Survivors get hindered and she gets faster, rendering all loops deadly.

Where is the skill expression on Terror radius reading when she can have without any effort 8 seconds complete stealth (not even Ghostface has comeplete stealth, you can still hear him in close proximity).

Where is the skill expression on scanning drones? While she is faster and you get hindered, you have to crouch or stop during chase. Thats a certaint hit if she is not missplaying.

Why do we not know when drones are reactivating?

Why is it not possible to destroy a drone? Disabeling is not helping at all, they will reactivate right in time when you run by it next time.

This list could be near endless, but i leave, one more time, this accurate and still true video for a more detailed explantion:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOliDIQxQlE&t=

LMAO I watched that video I didn't know he was that bad at versing her.

He sounds mad during the entire video, like I just match against him and wswswsws'ed him on the ground after getting scan teched into next century.

Yea nah that video is engagement bait considering he goes back on his points many times and he just wants to hop on the bandwagon. Absolutely nothing of substance in that considering he doesn't even bring crouching drones as a point and thinks disabling drones isnt counterplay.

Have you tried crouching the drone.

  • @sinkra said:

  • @Bloodwebs said:

I'm sorry but am I missing anything here? I wholeheartedly disagree with this post.

In all due respect, the only thing she is still viable for IS three genning. If she actually chased survivors then she would not have the highest current %70+ kill rate as per the statistics.

Literally out of the 10 SMs i've faced today none of them chased survivors after their instantaneous 3 gen set up from the start of the game. She is a flawed killer with the worst design who is rewarded for practically clicking m2.

There is legitimately no enjoyable way to verse her if she is playing with the 3 gen strat and it is definitely not eliminated at the moment at all. She is as bad as her release and I will never enjoy playing her or against her. Had to disagree with this post, but then again, we are entitled to our different opinions. :)

Her power gives her way too much value with no work made to get it at all. And on top of that, she can just blurt out her drones after they've been disabled with zero to no speed delay consequences whatsoever. She is still needing a complete 360 change in her power.

How are you still being 3 genned by her when the anti 3 gen mechanic exists. She is absolutely nowhere near as bad as release where she had a 400m tall cylinder of exposed around a gen.

You can crouch drones, disable them. Even mid chase you can crouch given you're in a decent position.

She has to earn her scans through good drone placement, aiming, and rotation. A bad SM will get their drones easily crouched and disarmed. She's easy to pick up but not to master.

  • I would make them fully base kit, so the entire 4m and all of the benefits from CTA. Even if you were to make them half base kit they would still be essential add ons.

Really good reasons, I just like her because I know it ruins the game for so many people and because I barely have to think when playing her.

Skull merchant players don't ruin the game, the survivors ruin the game for themselves by refusing to learn how to play against her, giving up, and riding the old SM hate bandwagon. Nobody to blame but themselves.

Though I do enjoy the easy bloodpoints.

Usually tier lists are made around good players in mind, not just """comp""" players. If we were ranking this off of pubs id put sadako, myers, and freddy above nurse.

  • @not_Queef said:

This has always been the case, but in the past the slowdowns weren't quite so boring to play against.

At least with Ruin & Undying, you could look around for the totems and maybe interact with the killer in doing so.

Now it's just endure a ton of extra M1 every game. Survivor has become a tedious slog.

For the first time in 7 years, I'm taking toolboxes into games.

    This really sucks.

I would much rather have the hook based regression we have now (pop, pain, grim) than "walk over to a gen for free regression and pray rng blesses your totem spots".

If anything ive found the matches to be going faster even with more slowdown in play, but also more fun.

  • I think eruption is the more problematic one, you can activate it 4 times max on one gen.

It should be 10 regression events.

Crazy that you have a slinger icon but find the killer boring. I don't even use him that often, but I think he's one of the most mechanically satisfying killers to play. And the audacity to claim Skull Merchant is more fun, the most boring killer I've ever had the displeasure of playing. There isn't a single thing remotely satisfying or interesting about plopping down drones.

I mained him for a solid year and a half before he got his nerf, afterwards I switched to artist, and now skull merchant. Never really changed the PFP tho.

Also if you think playing SM is boring may I introduce you to lasertagging and improving scanning efficiency. In my eyes she is essentially what slinger should of been.

  • @Nebula said:

  • They don't exist since if you can win against a squad without doing that then the survivors probably weren't very good winning as a team.

The hypocrisy is genuinely enjoyable, please continue.

The extremely skillful interaction of, "I placed this Drone in a loop and now I have Haste because the Drone knows your here!"

Either 3% matters or it doesn't, pick one.

Idk what else to say if you can't see that she clearly has counterplay. Simply look back at the list of things you can do against her that I posted and maybe do some 1v1s with a friend to get the hang of it.

The wiki is also very good at getting to understand her power.

I'm not gonna debate when you want to view things in such a black and white manner ignoring everything that goes into a SM chase, especially when she's a very macro heavy and difficult killer to master, so the state of the wider match must also be considered.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3634429#Comment_3634429

    Weren't you the self-proclaimed "#1 MFT hater"?

Somehow, 3% Survivor Haste is OP and uncounterable but Killer Haste doesn't make unsafe loops worse.

YES thats me and #1 pre nerf COH hater. MFT is why I started maining SM in the first place.

MFT is significantly different to SMs haste since she doesn't have it permanently, and is instead reliant on good drone positions and survivors messing up to get it temporaily. And despite the haste effects she gains she's still very much loopable if you know what you're doing and outplay her.

You are rewarded for playing well as SM and punished for playing bad on survivor. Idk chief that looks like pretty good killer design to me.

  • I was not expecting sadako to go from being relatively alright in terms of strength to one of (if not) the worst killer in the game.

That "power meter" mechanic looks horrible to play with on paper so I'm guessing it'll be extremely unfun to use in game, literally the exact same as overheat - being punished for using your ability a lot.

Still no buffs to her chase either which is what she desperately needs.

  • @xEa said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3634170#Comment_3634170

Standing still 0,3 SECONDS mid chase (its rather 0,5 seconds), in a game where 100ms ping is close to unplayable? That is not counterplay, that is giving a free hit.

Standing still for 0.3s gives her around ~1.44m of distance on you. If you're getting hit from that then you're greeding loops and should play a bit safer.

    @Pulsar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3634192#Comment_3634192

Okay, so bad RNG that doesn't happen much anymore.

A pallet 50/50 versus a Haste amped SM with no red stain is hardly a 50/50. It's more a 90/10.

"Don't get scanned" = "Wait out DH 5HEAD"

That RNG absolutely does still happen.

She wouldn't be haste amped if the team didn't give her a bunch of claw traps. She got rewarded with haste because she did her job well with good drone placements and survivors messing up, so naturally the chase becomes harder. Both wesker and singu have a similar mechanic.

Even haste amped id still say its a 50/50 and a fair chase esp since it is entirely the survivors fault if she gets above 1 stack.

Idk people seem mad they can't loop a killer by predropping it into oblivion. The main reasons I started maining SM in the first place is because she can actually punish predroppers, and you have to be actually outplayed instead of "run to yellow, drop pallet, repeat".

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3634170#Comment_3634170

Lots of words to say the same thing.

    Place power on loop.

Survivor leaves? They get hit and die.

    Survivor stays? They die.

    Survivors doing gens?

    Place power on gen.

    Hold 3-gen.

Excellent gameplay. She's both old Legion and WORSE. At least Legion matches were over fast. Here we have a Killer that WILL down you, regardless of your skill; who offers one, that's right, ONE whole counterplay, hold W. It's not really a counterplay, since she has Haste, UD and Tracking, but you die a little later so wooooooo. That's the EXACT same thing as old Legion.

Add on top of that, she can still hold 3-gens. Awesome!

She's a borderline skill-absent Killer. A true defintion of anti-loop brainrot and a perfect epitome of what a Killer should not be. Unengaging for all parties. Her best case scenario is a complete redesign ala Freddy.

Your issue is that you're viewing it in complete black and white and nothing else.

What if when I run away from the loop I have a chained window? No hit

What if when I stay I win pallet 50/50s? No hit

If we're going off when you WILL down someone, then every killer in the game doesn't have counterplay since you will eventually go down against any killer.

If you're going down quickly in every chase against SM, then that sounds like a skill issue tbh. You should try not getting scanned for a starters.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3634137#Comment_3634137

Uhhhh, yeah, no she's just as bad.

She has the EXACT same issues, which is more than a little amusing.

At least the Legion mains kinda knew and wanted him changed, nobody really thought he should stay as is and nobody claimed he was a "infinite skill ceiling killer". Unlike a lot of the DM players

You can't moonwalk to guarantee a down, survivors can actually do something.

Survivors have so much they can do but no one does it because they don't fully understand how her power works

    • Standing still/crouch walking for literally ~0.3s waiting for the scan lines to pass
    • Avoiding drones outside of chase to make your chases longer and less 2 tappable
    • Standing still/crouchwalking to force an M1 for more distance while healthy
    • Standing under a drone for 0.3s to make it raise and remove its scan lines
    • Pathing back into the drone so she's forced to walk under it and raise it
    • Using vaults (which are her best counter similar to bubba, the main reason I run bam almost every game)
    • Camping pallets
    • Forcing pallet 50/50s similar to other predrop killers like clown and bubba
    • Chaining loops with walls
    • Keeping track of where she's been to run to non-droned locations
    • Predicting her movement speed bonuses looking at the UI and seeing whos claw trapped
    • Disabling drones to frequently ran locations
    • NOT disabling certain drones so they become more predictable with visable scan lines
    • Taking hits
    • W keying
    • Predicting laser tags/scan techs
    • Running up to badly placed drones where the scan lines move slower
    • Using main buildings
    • Using map specific tiles/structures that have an absurd amount of LOS blockers that I would not be able to list all of (yamaoka gyms as example)
    • Exhaustion perks extend chases massively (overcome my beloved)

Don't get me wrong, she isn't perfect, but I wouldn't say badly designed either.

Also if you saw and knew what SM is capable of then you would probably agree she has a borderline infinite skill ceiling. You can scan through almost every hole that slinger can shoot through so there's always a way to improve your scanning efficiency. You probably just think her ceiling is low because of how low her skill floor is, and that there is VERY few actual good SM players.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Not sure on that one. Skull Merchant is the first Killer where I actually think that they should have killswitched her, reworked her completely and bring her back with the option to refund if someone does not like her anymore.

IMO she even trumps old Legion when it comes to the worst addition to the game.

If you think new SM is anywhere close to being as bad as OG legion you're either blinded by the SM hate bandwagon or completely forgotten how absolutely awful legion was.

  • Negative unfortunately because of lack of survivor skill.

If you learn how to verse her she can be very fun both to play and verse. She has a low skill floor but a borderline infinite skill cieling.

  • @HamsterEnjoyer said:

They would need to refund me every dollar I've spent and the base game as well cause I'd never touch this game again lol

    HOLY BASED.

    • Cooldown is too long, makes power drill feel essential. Should be 14 - 12s depending on how much other things are changed/nerfed
    • Scamper should still exist to give him something against predropping, however it's duration outside of SnD is a bit too short, should be 1.8s ish instead of 1.4s
    • Scamper during SnD should be encouraged, and should be buffed to be shorter at 1s-ish
    • Bring back 180s, or increase the lunge angle and sensitivity for both PC and console
    • QoL changes:
      • Possibly increase SnD duration to 1.3 since jump rope is still one of his most used add ons and always an undeniable good pick
      • Small Add on pass (rat poison is waaaay too strong, his purples besides razor are incredibly weak, other add ons underwhelming and should be reverted to their PTB state such as good guy box and yardstick, rework/change any that base kit changes account for)
      • Make footsteps more visible on hard to see maps, on ormond they essentially don't exist.
      • His voicelines are cool, but should happen just a tiny bit less frequently
      • Give manually exiting hidey ho mode a purpose, such as preserving the cooldown you leave it at instead of resetting it to 0

Pretty good killer design, one of my favourites. If there's one take away please look at reducing his cooldown to at least 14s.

To be fair, well skilled people never had issues with overheat while playing billy at all. In fact it just brought to light who was just revving chainsaws through loops with no other idea how to play and who actually mastered billy. Also billy with double engravings wasnt a good idea to begin with.

And the last reworks were fine? Trickster and especially skull merchant is still trash gameplay.

Its not that it had little effect, its that it made him incredibly unfun and had literally zero reason to be in the game since it served no benefit. Yet for some reason someone thought to keep it in the game until now.

Also trickster and SM reworks were a W other than some small QOL changes that need doing.

  • Freddy rework.

Want to clear up a few things here, it's not that feedback isn't listened to - we do listen to all feedback.

However, changes need time to implement - designers need to make a decision on what change to make, programmers need to make the changes, then these are tested by QA (which may or may not need further adjustments after that), plus then these changes go into certification so that all platforms are covered, so as you can see it's a process to make changes and things can't be done instantly...the addon change for example was done prior to release it just couldn't get into the release, so this bugfix patch was the nearest one.

The changes to the throwing rate and main event, were things that were found AFTER the release, but unfortunately there was not enough time to get these through the process mentioned above for todays bugfix patch, so they will be in a later one.

Ah that makes sense. I was just a bit worried that the buff to his add on was the "fix" to his throw rate issue. Good to know its still being tinkered with.

Skull Merchant's current rework is more than fine. It may not be perfect, as pretty much all killers have elements that can be improved, but it's very far from a disaster or a failure as people try to paint it.

She has a power that works and that isn't causing tremendously unfun stalled matches, so I can't see how it could be a failure beyond personal dislike.

Minus some horribly unfun/useless add ons like AV1, SS, LPM, and VTP skull merchants rework is genuinely the biggest W they've made in a while.

The trickster rework however, boy am I glad I main SM and not him.

People are not happy with Blight and asking nerfs for him.

We don't need another Blight. So cooldowns needed, especially for strong powers.

Literally nobody liked the billy nerf.

More fun for killer player for sure. These killers have cooldowns for reasons.

Theres a reason old billy, current blight, huntress, etc are played so much is because they have short cooldowns which is obv fun to use. A shorter cooldown doesnt make a killer oppressive all of the sudden, chucky could have a 15s cooldown and he'd be so much more fun.

1 2 3 4 … 37
