It's crazy it's still in the game when there's no counterplay to it.
-
Would be pretty cool and fit him much more than his weird cannon thing.
-
I mean any perks that help with unhooking and healing, so Kindred, Desperate Measures, Botany Knowledge.
-
If I'm being generous to BHVR I'd say your killer MMR is much higher than your survivor MMR.
Realistically though it's just the terrible matchmaking most likely.
-
I think it's a pretty bad perk. Even with 0 gens done it's a lot of time to spend in a dangerous location and killers will learn quickly that if they can't find anyone they're probably in the basement.
Perma-broken is a huge weakness to have for most of the match and the killer WILL absolutely just tunnel out the broken survivor to make up for a BNP being on every gen.
I think the only games where it'll actually do a lot of good are games where the matchmaker puts much better survivors against a weaker killer, the killer won't know to check the basement and wont be able to pressure the shorter gens well enough, but in that sorta game any perks can do good work.
If you have time to get the invocation off and not care about the Broken effect, then you were probably gonna win that game anyway, definitely a Win-More perk in my eyes.
-
It's hard to get excited for new chapters because it'll still be the same DBD with the same issues that BHVR wont fix.

Since there have been changes to try and help make dbd enjoyable for both sides is there any thoughts on a solution to tunneling at 5 gens. I know it isn’t an easy problem to find a solution to especially since there are situations where killers will need to tunnel for pressure and getting someone out but it’s no fun when it’s happening early and it’s overall just weird behavior.
How is it weird behavior? It's almost always the most effective way of playing killer regardless of map, regardless of perks, regardless of anything really. Besides Sadako, there's really no reason NOT to tunnel if you only care about winning.
I understand disliking tunneling, I hate it myself, but calling it weird behavior is just... weird.

So you agree that highly coordinated SWFs are extremely rare and that as a Killer you are much more likely to do extremely well over a long period of time in higher MMR?
Not really.

Please name one that has a 1000+ streak.
It's a bit unfair when getting 4 highly skilled players who can play at the same time and have no ping issues is much harder than one highly skilled killer. Of course there's gonna be more streaks, longer streaks and streak attempts overall. I still stand by the fact that a solid 4-man SWF bringing the best stuff each game can do just as well.
Yes, I probably shouldn't have worded the way that I did. I more mean that a really good 4-man SWF can have just as ridiculously high a win rate and give 99% of killers they go against no chance to win.

Super experienced player + strongest killers + strongest perks + strongest addons + hard tunneling + going against queue. Of course there is no chance to win it in 99% of lobbies. That's why i think we should have ranked and casual mode in the game.
But to be fair, something like 100+ wins on B/C tier killers only shows how bad most survivor players are and how poor matchmaking are.
People doing streaks could just queue up in the casual queue.
-
I mean 4-man SWFs can do just as well in streaks.
-
It probably will given it's by far the most popular survivor perk in the game and has been for ages, despite being a DLC perk.
For the sake of promoting variety, it needs some kind of nerf.
-
If you don't like slugging, why are you running perks that are countered by slugging?
-
Because goth girls sell and... well most types of guys don't.
-
The hallucination part is fine but yeah the exploding projectile doesn't fit with his design at all, seems more like a Singularity thing.
-
The vast majority of p100s and really anyone above Prestige 50 for me are usually really good and far better at the game than I am. I have a miserable time playing against them so for my own mental wellbeing I dodge them.
-
Distortion isn't OP but I do think it needs to be a little harder to get tokens back. Currently you almost never actually run out of tokens even if the killer is running multiple aura-reading perks/addons
-
I mean they always make sure there's a way to get to the end of the page without needing any DLC. It's a bit odd there's a master challenge and thus 5 rift fragments locked behind the DLC that shouldn't be, but it's not that big of a deal really.
-
I mean if you're the first survivor that the killer finds and he decides to tunnel you, it doesn't matter if you last really long in chase, you're usually going to be killed before the gens all get done and you can escape. Yes, lasting a long time can give your teammates a better chance to all get out but for the one player getting tunneled that doesn't really matter. They're being forced into back-to-back chases with no time to do anything else and especially if they're in solo queue, they don't even know their teammates so it doesn't reduce the sting of having their game 'ruined'.
Also, in solo queue at least, you can last ages in chase and your teammates may just not be doing gens efficiently and thus when you do eventually die, the killer is likely still gonna have plenty of time to get a 3k or 4k.
Unless there's a big disparity between skill levels, if the killer wants to, they can tunnel someone and guarentee they die and there isn't anything you can do about it.
-
Tunnelling is a massive problem but it's been a massive issue for years so I don't see how it would suddenly cause the downfall of DBD. Everyone complains about tunnelling and most of them continue to play regardless.
-
Midwich and The Game, just much prefer indoor maps in general.

I think that is because in other pvp games people have pretty equal characters. In Apex for example each character may have an unique ability but it ultimately comes down to recharging your shield, healing yourself and get weapons/extensions. DBD is different because you have two different power dynamics in one game. The survivors and the killer. Unlike other games the killer is a player himself. So here we have one sole person going up against 4 others. dbd always had struggle to balance things but what is putting the game to a real test is the pychological effect of the game. Some people simply don't care about the game/objective itself. They just wan't to ruin it for others/only think of themself. I relate this to people who traverse the map alone and leave their squad behind in other games.
So when they do not get their 4k, they get salty. If the survivor stuns them he needs to be tunneled. The flash light save was messed up, they need to tbag and then dc. I think there is a part of dbd players (survivors as much as killers) who take the game way to serious. Because of the nature of the killer being the surpreme power in the game people with these pschological traits or low selfesteem are drawn to play killer more naturally because it makes them feel important, powerfull and "good".
I will not make a whole case study here but the mindset of the players is what currently messes up a lot of matches.
But that doesn't change the fact that if BHVR took a much harsher stance against DCing or killing yourself on hook, if there were longer DC penalties and if killing yourself on hook was a reportable offense or outright impossible to do, then these things would happen a lot less.
If survivors just afk or purposefully run into the killer and wait to get hooked, that's already bannable behavior.

I thought that way too some time ago but at the end it won't work. If you add penalties for killing yourself on hook then survivors will just start running into the killer on purpose. If they dc the team at least gets the bot.
As I explained, tunneling is a rising problem in the game and if people can just disconnect from a toxic killer or someone who just tunnels at 5 gens, this behaviour would be penalized on the passive way. To put it simple, you are a facecamping tunnel bubba? Have fun going after 4 bot survivors.
Survivors who quit because of everything they don't like will still keep quitting and facing the penalties. The majority of the players however rarely ever leave a game. For example I had to face a legion player who didn't want to hook a single survivor. He just wanted them to bleed out on the ground. It took us 24 minutes to get out of this game.
These are the situations most people would want to dc but are afraid to because the penalty system will set them on timeout.
I just don't understand why DBD is the only pvp game that allows players to give up and completely ruin the game for the other players and there's no punishment for it. Heck there's a sizeable portion of the playerbase that defends this behaviour which is just completely alien to me. Other pvp games rightly punish players who do this sorta thing and because of that it's not nearly as widespread and common.

Why is it good that a perk is a hindrance?
Honestly because I don't think they should be making more gen speed or gen slowdown perks. They're awful to balance and they only contribute to speeding the game up even more. If they insist on adding more of them then I'd rather they be underwhelming than yet more meta gen perks.

Because if the killer isn't keeping pressure right or as the other poster said, keeping order, what else is there to do? Like, we only have one objective lol.
Guess I'll just stand around and admire the scenery next match. I'm sure that'll go over quite well. Maybe take a little stroll, take some screenshots.
It's not neccessarily blaming the survivors for simply doing their objective, it's just being realistic. The game has sped up so much that both sides need to go into the game full speed if they wanna have a chance of winning. Same reason killers tunnel, there's simply no time to NOT do the most efficient plays thesedays.
-
They were rightly incredibly cautious with it since it could easily be busted but yeah as it stands it's just kinda crap. Which is good, I don't think perks like that should be overly strong as they'd be a nightmare to vs.
-
I don't think they've mentioned it being limited time, but as with all licenced content, when it comes time to renew the licence, if they can't come to an agreement then it'll be removed from the store.
-
I'm in the UK and have played with a couple people in the US. Don't know where in the US they were but the ping wasn't too bad. It was certainly noticeable but not unplayable.
-
I don't think there's that much overlap in their simps. She'll likely be pretty popular, more popular than most DLC survivors but she's got more in common with Mikaela I think than Feng.
-
Yeah I don't understand why it isn't an option, same with Doctor. I'd LOVE to have the old more extreme doctor effects on.
-
He's a bit much to go against, again it seems it's more about how good the killer player is and less about how good the survivor player is.
-
I mean perk variety has never been very good, because perks are incredibly unbalanced with some being mid, some being terrible and some being really good.
With 4 perk slots and all perks taking up the same amount of slots, why would you -not- run the strongest stuff?
Heck even decent B-tier perks are rarely run because there's A and S-tier perks which you may as well run instead.
-
I doubt they'll be coming back but there'll be plenty of other banners released in the future.
-
Assuming MMR is actually working and it puts 4 skilled survivors against an equally skilled killer, and all players are actually trying hard, no, you can't 12 hook with zero slowdown perks.
I'd argue even with 4 slowdown perks you can't 12 hook either in that scenario.
-
I think the issue was more Sloppy rather than Mangled as a whole. Do killers ever bring mangled addons or Gift of Pain? No, because Sloppy exists and is just a far too easy way to apply two status conditions that have great synergy.
Sloppy Butcher needed some kind of change to reduce it's strength and then after it's usage dropped a bunch, Mangled wouldn't be a huge issue because killers simply wouldn't bring it as much.
If they removed Hemo complete from Sloppy or gave it tokens of some sort so it wasn't just "every time you hit someone you apply these two debuffs", that would have helped.
This change just makes the other sources of Mangled even less desirable than they are now.

I don't think that is a good thing, tbh. It forces survivors to a static meta which lacks variety, while the same does not happen for killers.
Survivors should get new meta perks, they just can't be overpowered. The original iterations of Made for This and Mettle of Man are examples of bad design. It is different from perks like Unbreakable or Self-Care (before the healing change in 2018), which were part of the survivor meta without being problematic for the game.
It's kind of difficult to make new meta survivor perks that aren't overpowered because... well, most meta perks on both sides now could be argued to be overpowered. If they made a perk on the power level of Adren, people would likely call it OP.
-
Eww, no, we need MORE punishments for DCing and killing yourself on hook, not less. So many games are ruined by people doing these things.
-
I mean they could just not call it a Wendigo and they can make it as similar or different to an 'actual Wendigo' as they want.

This change stops nothing of the sort. As a killer, you can always tunnel, no matter how many little tweaks and basekit perks bhvr throws in.
The only thing that stops tunneling are the other teammates intervening, and the killer either losing that one survivor they were trying to tunnel, or taking more interest in the other survivors.
Want some real advice, Behavior? Revert all the RBT changes you just made, keep the stealth/ambush changes, and remove that loud obnoxious growling noise pig makes when beginning an ambush. Then maybe it will actually be good.
She can still tunnel, yes, but if she does that she's not getting any use from her traps anyway so the nerf surely wouldn't matter at all.
This change makes it harder for her to simply decide to check boxes and make it impossible for a survivor to remove their bear trap should she choose, which is miserable for survivor and can result in literally unwinnable games for survivors.
-
To be fair if they were ever going to buff her Ambush/Crouch, they needed to nerf her traps since even now they can be very problematic on certain maps and with certain addons.
This change stops Pig from being able to just follow someone trying to remove their trap and ruining the game for them which was incredibly unhealthy. I would have preferred some nerfs to her trap addons instead of just a longer duration but it does the same thing.
Also, the trap is supposed to be slowdown rather than actually getting headpops, so the increased duration shouldn't really matter for good Pig players.
-
They already made it so FTP didn't proc MFT so I don't know why they can't just make it not proc BU.
-
The issue is that all killers are 'unfun' to someone, you can't use a subjective description to decide what killers should and shouldn't exist.
They want all killers to have unique kits and play differently from each other, that means there are always going to be some killers that some people just don't like.
Also, while anti-loop killers are generally unpopular with survivors, they're needed because without any anti-loop, it's not very fun for most killer players to play against good loopers. No matter how good you are with most m1 killers, a really solid survivor is gonna waste too much of your time.
Also gotta mention how Billy was considered the most 'fun' killer to go against back when he was weaker, now that he's actually really strong, suddenly suvivors hate going against him, curious.
-
The devs know it happens a lot, and they know it completely ruins the game for everyone else, but for some people they refuse to either make any changes to stop it from happening, or to just take a harsher stance against it. Weird.
-
A very low pick rate means that the few people who do play him have a bigger bearing on his overall stats. If the only people who play Freddy are Freddy mains and their high kill rates aren't evened out by bad Freddy players then his kill rates are gonna be high.
Same thing happened with Symmettra in Overwatch. Generally considered a bad hero for years but had a high win rate due to her low pick rate.
-
That would still put the killer in a lose-lose situation because then they'd be expected to defend two gates AND the hatch wherever it is.
The Hatch is only supposed to be a pity 'win' for the last survivor, nothing more. Certainly shouldn't allow multiple survivors to escape through it.

Until I found out that it was not a bannable offense and I was just clogging up the report system, I used to report Suicide on Hook players as "Griefing - Assisting the Killer" or "Unsportsmanlike Conduct - Refusing to participate in normal gameplay".
I am sure majority of players still make this mistake... and tbh, I can't really think how you can call SoH anything other than Unsportsmanlike Conduct when the examples are "AFKing, rage quitting, idling, and refusing to participate in normal gameplay"... SoH satisfies at least 2 of those conditions.
Exactly this. This is the only pvp game I know where you can outright give up and ruin the game for everyone else and it's NOT against the rules, it's so weird.
-
The only thing that may curb this behaviour is either to remove freeing yourself on hook (unless you got Deli), or simply take a harsher stance against those who give up and ruin games. If there were noticeable punishments for this sort of thing, it would drastically decrease.
