  • The game is balanced so that survivors on average get a 40% escape rate, but that includes SWFs. For solo queue it's faaaairly safe to assume it's closer to 30% escape rate.

  • There are definitely some strong hexes, Devour Hope has the potential of being THE strongest killer perk by a mile, and Blood Favour is solid and one of the best chasing perks.

The problem is they're just too RNG. It's random where they spawn, and it's completely in the survivor's hands if they find em and cleanse em. Most killers don't have a way of reliably defending them so when a survivor sees one, it's getting cleansed.

Also with boons having been meta and still being reasonably popular, survivors are actively seeking out totems which makes hexes even weaker.

You pretty much HAVE to run Undying if you're running a strong hex and that's half your build that can be completely removed by survivors. Pentimento is a good backup but it still relies on you spending time walking over to the cleansed totem to rekindle it, and now at least one survivor knows where Penti is, so they're just gonna go cleanse it again.

Honestly the most reliable hex is probably Plaything, and that's because you're mainly relying on survivors cleansing it and you're using it as slowdown rather than actually using the effect. But even then good survivors just ignore it and do gens.

  • I'm sure BHVR would -love- to have Stranger Things back. They know a bunch of players would spend money on the chapter and cosmetics if they got it back so there's no reason BHVR would have NOT to bring it back. That only leaves Netflix as the reason it's not back.

  • I -have- seen a couple of people 99ing gens and don't really understand the purpose of it, these aren't Pig games so at best you're scared of NOED I guess?

  • DC penalties need to be MORE harsh, not less. Whenever the DC penalty is switched off completely there's a wave of DCers most games and it just ruins things for everyone.

Even with the system we have now there's a load of people that still DC so they should be upping the time you're unable to queue for much more steeply.

  • Keep gen/totem/glyph grabs and get rid of healthy hook-grabs. Seems fair.

  • Interesting how the Blight mains, who allegedy don't even use his busted addons much, have the post saying how much nerfing them totally wouldn't do anything to him.

    Interesting.

  • I'll preface this by saying I do think some of Blight's addons are OP and need to be nerfed, however...

A single person doing a crazy winsteak isn't enough on it's own to prove something needs nerfs. They could just be crazy good at the game and thus the game just can't find anyone on their skill level to match them with, thus they always win.

OnePumpWillie has gotten multiple super high win streaks as Onryo and I don't think ANYONE thinks that Onryo needs nerfs.

  • Myers is generally regarded as one of the worst killers in the game, usually only above Trapper.

The only time you -could- argue he's unfair is if he brings tombstone piece, otherwise no, he's weak.

  • Content creators are certainly to blame for a lot of it. I don't think they're bad people; win streaks are really popular and they wanna make a living so it makes perfect sense, but it does contribute to how a lot of their viewers will then play the game.

Also as said before this thread is pretty biased against killers. Survivors can play just as 'sweaty' and do everything they can to win, including using methods that are widely considered 'unfun' but the conversation is almost always on killers having to change the way they play.

  • With only 2 survivors left, it's only really possible if there's one gen remaining, and even then it already needs quite a bit of progress. 2 or more gens remaining there's no chance and that's why survivors will usually stop doing gens altogether and just hide.

If I see another teammate getting tunneled I'll take protection hit for them and even a free down just to shift the Killer's attention to me instead of my teammate who is getting tunneled

A tunnelling killer will just leave you on the ground and keep going after the other survivor though.

  • I was indeed not being serious in the OP. My opinion is that no killer power or perk or combo of them should be able to outright stop survivors from making gen progress.

I do wonder if heavy 3-genning is against the rules. By that I mean loading into a game, choosing your 3-gen at the start, setting up your drones and NEVER leaving the area for the entire game. Only going for easy hits and never being baited out of the 3-gen, just patrolling gens and putting drones back up after they're removed.

BHVR has said that if the killer is outright avoiding downing/hooking survivors then that IS against the rules, but if the killer is technically going for easy hits and -would- down and hook if it doesn't force them out of their 3-gen, then that's more a grey area. Like the killer is still trying to ultimately kill the survivors, they're just only willing to actually do it if they can catch them by surprise and guarantee a very short chase.

BHVR need to give much clearer examples of what IS and ISN'T hostage-taking.

  • I mean slugging has always been a thing and there -are- perks in the game to help deal with it.

If all 4 survivors are still up it's also not even a very good tactic for the killer unless the survs all mess up.

  • Good survivors still heal crazy fast with boons.

  • I'm always up for this. The only achievement I've not got is the Iri 1 Survivor and I'll never get that with hoe the current system is.

  • It should stack BUT even with it Self-Care is still cripplingly slow.

  • Need to make map offering only increase the chance, not make it guarenteed, and make it so Sacrificial Wards aren't consumed if no map offering was used.

  • If you want to outright remove the ability the tunnel you'd need to buff killers a fair bit to compensate. The game simply isn't balanced around spreading out hooks, especially as your MMR rises.

You'd also need to make sure survivors couldn't abuse this mechanic. You couldn't just make survivors invincible until someone else gets hooked because the unhooked survivor will just repeatedly bodyblock.

  • If they do then they need to give you the option of snuffing or breaking.

  • There's a load of bald skins in the game: Trapper, Wraith, Nemmy, Pinhead...

  • Reassurance is still good against camping though? If survivors are actually doing gens then that extra 30 seconds is pretty big.

  • Sprint Burst has ways to play around it while sometimes DH does not. That's why SB is pretty fair and I can't see it needing changes.

  • Assuming you're 3-genning you don't really want two of your perks to be gone for most of the match. I'd swap the hexes out for Nowhere to Hide and Eruption/Pop. But that's just me.

  • It needs a complete revamp. It's an unhealthy perk and only promotes bad playstyles.

  • I mean I doubt they're ever gonna do anything that outright prevents camping. The killer is always going to be able to stand near the hook, I don't know of much they can do to prevent that. They may add more perks to punish it though.

  • BHVR want you to use your medkit to heal other survivors a bit faster. The problem is that even with the changes to medkits, it's -still- far more efficient to ONLY use midkits to self heal, and if you can't use addons to get a full extra heal, there's no point in getting half a heal.

  • They balance the game so that the kill rate is around 60%, so the survival rate is 40%. That's including SWFs though, for solo queue it's safe to assume the survival rate is likely closer to 30%, and this latest patch that nerfed self-healing considerably is gonna only reduce that further.

Basically if you play solo queue you're looking at only escaping a quarter of your games, if that. It's hard to really enjoy the game when your 'win rate' is so low.

  • I've certainly seen an uptick in tunnelling since the patch, which is a shame. Also even with medkits and CoH being as busted as they were, solo queue relied heavily on both to be bearable, now it's just even more miserable.

  • I'm happy for you.

    Or sorry that happened.

  • I mean she'd just have run away from you right after anyhow, deactivating the perk.

  • Ah yes, Myers, Pig and Trapper, the real powerhouses of DBD.

  • Now that Overcharge, Eruption and CoB have all been heavily nerfed, if a SM holds a 3-gen you at least have a chance at breaking it. It's still too strong but I doubt BHVR is gonna rework her anytime soon.

  • I mean medkits literally just got heavily nerfed so it's no surprise people moved from them to toolboxes. People who were bringing a medkit every game are probably sitting on a LOT of BNPs so might as well use them.

  • Probably had a daily/archive to mori someone. Devour Hope is too unreliable to run so you pretty much need to either run Rancor or tunnel someone with a Mori.

  • Maybe they're not good in chase? I'm awful in chase so I rarely try and take the chase from another teammate because I'd just go down really fast and hand the killer even more pressure. Think about your other teammates.

  • I only run exhaustion perks life half the time, often I go without. Didn't think it was -that- weird.

  • The problem is gen-time varies so wildly game-to-game. You can have a game with 4 survivors who are doing archives, chilling or just not great at the game and gens get done cripplingly slowly, and you can have a game where all 4 survivors are focusing heavily on gens and they fly no matter what the killer brings. This doesn't even require toolboxes or gen-speed perks, just basekit survivors can do gens fast if they actually focus on doing them efficiently.

If they globally make gens take longer to combat SWFs and even efficeient solos, then weaker teams will just NEVER get gens done.

If they don't do anything, like now, then good teams can rush gens faster than a good killer can down and hook them.

I bring this up a lot but I run my Huntress with 0 slowdown, just chase and aura-reading, and in some games I can find and down survivors really quickly and gens STILL fly by.

  • IW did need a nerf but it only needed one of the two. Like Karu said either have it 100% unless exhausted or 75% all the time but not both.

  • Over the past week I've consistantly had terrible killer games. Almost every game I'm being matched against survivors way above my skill level and it's just awful.

Conversely as solo survivor I've been escaping a lot more recently.

  • It's pretty sad but probably true. They've shown they nerf simply based on pick rate so whatever gen slowdown becomes meta is destined to get nerfed. Jolt and Deadlock are my guesses for the next meta perks and then a patch or two later likely to get gutted.

Don't get me wrong there's still other options but... like it's getting to the point where why bother, y'know? Whatever good perks you find and run are just gonna get nerfed with no buffs to other perks.

My mistake, we got a minor buff to Gearhead so it's fine :)

  • I'm all for increasing the stun back up to 5 seconds but it deactivating in endgame is a good change. Same with OTR, if they were allowed in endgame they create unwinnable situations for the killer.

10 seconds of basekit BT and 10% haste is enough in endgame easily.

This is so stupid. This game is becoming more and more about money. I feel like it would be worth it if these skins were actually high quality

The limited time skins stuff I completely agree but I quite like the 4-week timer on perma skins since it gives people that wanna spend money a bit of time to show off, but it gives everyone a chance to just buy it with shards eventually.

  • Assuming it's a permanant store skin, you just gotta wait 4 weeks and it'll become buyable with shards. For example the fancy skins for Skull Merchant and the new survivors are now buyable with shards.

If it's a new limited time skin then you gotta wait a year until it comes back for shards.

  • Killer DCs are very rare. They happens sometimes yeah but survivor DCs are a FAR larger problem, especially since they usually happen nearer the start of the match as opposed to near the end.

  • A lot of people don't seem to realise that starting the unhook cancels the Hunt. It makes his camp-game a lot weaker unless he's there too, which... like you could just be anyone at that point.

  • As long as people out there buy them there's no incentive for BHVR to make them cheaper. And people do buy them sadly.

  • Trapper or Myers I'd say. Before he got a second trap basekit it would have easily been Trapper but now it's a lot closer. Addonless Myers is miserable, takes ages to tier up and you don't even get the tombstone to make up for it.
