  • How am I supposed to know if my solo queue teammate is using Plot Twist or if they're just getting slugged and have Calm Spirit equipped?

  • I admit I dodge quite often if I see multiple high prestiges because in my experience that almost always results in a miserable game for me. If they remove seeing prestige in the lobby I'd understand, and instead I'd spend a bit of time looking up how many hours they have and if they're SWFing. Multiple TTVs is also a good candidate to dodge too.

  • People don't really need to defend if they choose to tunnel. It's a part of the game and it's the most optimal way to play almost every killer on every map. Its usually not personal and most killers that tunnel do so because they want to play efficiently and give themselves the best chance to win. If survivors rush gens in order to do the same, it's no different.

  • It was certainly worse back in the day. For survivors, everyone had their exhaustion perk, usually DH, along with DS, UB and Adren or Iron Will. Throw in the occasional Prove Thyself and that was really it.

Killer was possibly even worse with Corrupt, Tinkerer, Ruin and Undying or Pop.

Yes obviously there were people who changed it up slightly or went full meme-build but this was the standard for most players for months. It's FAR better now, even with perks like MFT, Windows and Pain Res being mega-popular.

The fact this thread exists proves you wrong.

Also the existence of maps like Haddonfield and Garden of Joy.

I don't understand your points, sorry. At this point looping is a major part of the game and something both sides are expected to be good at in order to do well.

If looping isn't supposed to be a thing then what are survivors supposed to do when found?

  • I see it pretty rarely but when I do it's usually in a SWF with flashies, sabo toolboxes and Breakout. On it's own it's nothing that bad but in a bully squad it can be pretty annoying and force you to slug.

Also on Midwich it can be crazy but that's more a fault of hooks on Midwich.

  • @PotatoPotahto said:

Looping is not an intended feature, so you can't complain about it being inconvenient.

I mean when the game was first made, yeah, it wasn't intended because it was a hide-and-seek game. Survivors were supposed to play stealthy and if they were found, they were supposed to go down really quickly.

At this point though, the devs design things with looping in mind.

  • Yeah, but you can't deny she was and still is far, far less popular than Blight is.

Sadako also had a dedicated playerbase that fought hard against the rework on the Ptb.

    We still got it.

I would not be so certain.

I mean barely anyone played Sadako whereas a lot of people play Blight.

  • If the killer doesn't find anyone by the time the unhook happens, why shouldn't they go right back to hook?

  • I'd be fine with them removing tunneling if they gave killers some significant blanket buffs to compensate, which they'd never do. As it stands, yes, tunneling is generally incredibly unfun for most survivor players but it's kind of a necessity for most killers against a good survivor team.

  • If you don't feel like hooking is rewarded enough, then just slug em all.

  • On certain loops they're god loopers and the killer has no chance to ever hit them, but at everything else they're pretty bad. Better to just leave them be as killer and go after other people.

  • Hexes do need something. As it stands the only decent ones are the ones that don't work like normal hexes, like Plaything, Penti and NOED.

Anti-camping has always been met with 'fine, so long as it doesn't interfere with camping'.

But yeah, there'll probably be half-a-dozen replies soon, telling you off for talking about anti-camp when it's anti-FACEcamp. In other words, the system isn't made to resolve any issues people were complaining about.

This is correct, it's only designed to stop actual face camping, and even then it takes a while to fill the bar. If the killer is proxy camping, even if they're constantly running past you, it's not gonna do much.

Yes, proxy-camping is also pretty unpopular but I doubt BHVR is gonna ever add anything to actually combat it since it's at least counterable.

I didn't expect it to be so small, but chases in there are quite fun

I'm guessing the game engine can't handle adding what's essentially another big chunk of map to existing maps and keep the performance the same so they played it safe and only added a mini chunk of Void.

  • I did get a game yesterday against one but besides that it seems pretty unpopular. Apparently the nerf it received a while back made them feel slow and clunky and their tail hitbox is really wonky now.

  • I had that happen a few days ago, literally in the process of hooking the last survivor and the game freezes and eventually I get DCed.

  • It's probably the hardest challenge on the current page. Not only do you need to get enough energy to open the portals to the Void AND rescue a ghost, which can be tricky on it's own but nothing major, but you also need your opponents to run into them, which is pretty rare since you usually will only have like one or two on the map at a time and... that's only covering like 2% of the map. Also you can see the haunts from a distance and just NOT run into them.

I got lucky and had a friendly game with a couple Fengs and one of them was beelining to all the haunts.

  • Unless a killer is already handily winning, they don't really have time to waste visiting the Void and saving ghosts while multiple survivors slam gens. Same issue whenever they add side objectives, if one side ignores them, then the other side is punished for doing them.

Also it feels really bad for survivors who DO want to play around in the Void when the portals activate while you're on hook.

Probably because her kill rates were far from Ok.

May i suggest you always keep a tape on you?

Before her rework she was one of the highest kill rate killers even in high MMR, I wouldn't really use kill rates as evidence as to why she needed a buff :p

  • Just wanted to say thanks for all the messages. I know that while I do still make a lot of mistakes and I can always look for ways to do better, there are also things that are out of my hands that can seriously decide the match and it's no use getting so down about that sorta thing. Easier said than done and sometimes I just need to vent which is really what this thread was, but I'm glad so many people on these forums have been supportive and understanding :)

  • You can't buy Demo anymore and they turned off Family Sharing a while ago so even less people have access to Demo now.

Twins is just incredibly slow and clunky, not to mention getting game-breaking bugs every other patch.

Don’t worry you aren’t alone. I consider myself a really good Artist player but I’ve had games where I’ve struggled with her. There was one time I got no hooks and survivors had 1 gen left. I DC’d out of rage after a pallet stun, got off the game and then didn’t play for a couple days after that to reboot myself.

So yeah no need to keep beating yourself up, we’ve all been there.

Thanks, and I know in a few hours I'll have forgotten about it. Just feels bad when you put so much time into something and can still get stomped so badly.

  • @Nazzzak said:

I just had a survivor game where I couldn't even last like 5 seconds in chase. Came right after a game where I ran the killer all over the map until they decided to just ignore me for the rest of the match. This game feels like it often goes from one extreme to the next. You either run all over your opponents, or they run all over you. The latter absolutely makes you feel like you're a new player all over again. Those middle ground matches, where it feels like a fair fight, are so rare.

Definitely agreed. Most games whether I'm killer or survivor are just complete stomps for one side or the other. Pretty much whenever I play Knight, Pinhead or Huntress I get put against babies but when I play Doctor, Plague or Pig it puts me against really good teams. I thought individual killer MMR was supposed to stay somewhat close to each other, but that doesn't seem the case.

  • I've heard a couple of other people say the've had sussy DCs and apparently one even had a survivor gloat about making him DC. I've had one iffy DC in the last couple days.

  • I mean there are better perks than NOED that help you during the entire game. NOED is strong, yeah, but if there's still 4 survivors at endgame, unless they made some big mistakes, or you get lucky and can hook right next to your totem, NOED isn't gonna do much for you.

  • @Aurelle said:

It seems pretty much useless. Unless the killer is directly face camping, the bar doesn't fill at all. Killers can still proxy camp and are already figuring out how to work around it, so really it did nothing.

It didn't do nothing, you said it yourself that it stops direct facecamping, which is what it's designed to do. It wasn't designed to do anything against proxy camping, only facecamping.

  • @lukeneves said:

Needs to be improved. Faster build up to camping. Terror radius needs to be the factor not a fix distance. For Blight Nurse and Wesker its negligable as is now. They swing once away and right back to hook.

If it was terror-radius based then stealth killers could still just face camp.

  • @UndeddJester said:

New skins for Sadako and Yoiichi!? And Yoichi isn't wearing bright primary colours!?!?

Pretty sure thats illegal isn't it? xD

He do got some Blight coom on him though.

  • If you're playing Sadako then yeah never hook and just slug for condemned kills.

Otherwise, against good survivors it's usually more difficult to try and slug them all rather than hooking 'em. Even with a slug-focused build it takes a lot of big mistakes on the survivor's part to let you get all 4 slugged at once.

If that's how you wanna play though, go for it, it's just a different win condition.

    Thank you for this!!!

I really hope Naughty Bear isn’t Halloween locked or Auric Cell exclusive. I would be it in a heartbeat if it’s available with shards.

I'm almost certain it's gonna be Halloween-only. They're not gonna release a skin like -that- and have it available for shards in a few weeks, no chance.

  • Plaything is strong but I wouldn't really say it's that unhealthy on it's own. It's really good with Penti but there's ways to play around it.

  • Yeah I don't know why there isn't an option to just disable it.

  • Hux is significantly worse at 3-genning than SM used to be. Just use EMPs well and it's shut down pretty easily.

While what you're saying is true to an extent, people have figured out DBD by now. For those of us with thousands of hours in the game, it's pretty easy to accurately determine a killer's power level and potential after a few games.

She's one of the better M1 killers and perfectly viable, but still a low tier killer and probably won't be a ton of fun to play as or against. I doubt much of that is going to change.

I mean a lot of the 'experts' with thousands of hours in DBD have been completely wrong in the past, and SM just got a massive redesign, so no, you can't really tell how good she is until people have had a chance to master her new kit.

  • If they made it so it actually sped up wriggling free they'd have to make the time saved so negligible it doesn't really matter, which is how it used to be. It hardly ever actually saved people so they just made hitting them like a much weaker Boil Over and gave more BP.

Hitting them usually counts for any archives that require Great Skill Checks though so it's an incredibly-easy way to get those done.

  • DBD's limited-time cosmetics do suck, especially since they started introducing them not long after the "all original skins will be available with shards" announcement, clearly as a way to get around it in a scummy way. Also BHVR retroactively removing previously-always-available skins from the store and making them limited-time was disgusting.

All that said, in general the monetisation of the game is actually really fair, at least compared to other games. Their Battle Pass is easily THE best one in any game I've seen in terms of bang-for-your-buck AND since you only ever have to buy it once ever, or never if you had Amazon Prime during that particular month.

They also charge less for actual gameplay-affecting things (characters and their perks) while charging much higher for cosmetics, which are completely optional, and you can STILL get a lot of cheap cosmetics through the season pass. I've gotten dozens and dozens of cosmetics for essentially £10. You can also earn original characters just by playing the game, never having to even spend for them (though this IS a big grind).

Look at TCM which is looking to charge DOUBLE for characters while charging less for cosmetics. The feedback has been hugely negative.

  • I mean Pig's traps have always been problematic and have had many ways to essentially put survivors in lose-lose situations with them, it's just with her being a low-tier killer people just sorta had to deal with it.

Now I enjoy playing Pig and think she's fun but certain perks and addons with her can just put you in an unwinnable situation against her. Heck at her most basic she can always just put a trap on someone and just follow them the rest of the game so they can't get their trap off and most groups don't know to just leave and let them try for the hatch. Yes the Pig doesn't 'win' but it does ruin the game for the survivor.

  • @Amaroq64 said:

If he has to run around at a distance, then that gives your team a chance to save you at least.

When they unhook you, try to force the killer to hit you first, since your endurance will protect you and save them from getting hit.

Yeah don't do that because then you're asking for the killer to tunnel you.

Yeah, I think the 7 seconds itself are fine. It was stupid anyway that the Survivor basically starts with like 1/5th of the bar already filled when the Killer just hooked a person. (Even tho, it does not matter, the bar can be empty, on 20% or 99%, the Survivor will not be able to unhook)

But all the things combined makes the Anti-Camp mechanic really not meaningful and it is watered down a lot. It really only helps against the very most blatant cases where a Killer is standing right in front of the Hook. And those were rare to begin with.

But I guess this is what is the result if the Devs work on something for a few months and then change it that much in a few weeks due to some feedback of people who played 3 games on the PTB.

Yes that's the whole point of it, it's only in the game to stop those that literally stood in front of the hook. That's it. It was never supposed to weaken proxy campers or people who just stand thirty feet away and wait for the unhook.

  • That's very interesting, I'd heard that SC was more popular in asian regions but didn't really know why. Makes sense and it does seem that the community in general has a much healthier view of the game than much of the western community.

Solo queue. You can't count on anyone for anything. If you want a heal, you tend to have to do it yourself. Self-Care can't get Franklin'd. Some killers you can't stay injured against.

As for why Botany isn't being ran with it, it'd take a spot meant for one of the MFT/WoO/Resilience/Hope/Adrenaline crutch builds.

I hear people say this but I play quite a lot of solo survivor and most teammates are pretty decent with healing me. I don't even run medkits very often and it's seldom an issue really.

As for Franklin's, that's a decent point but very few killers run Franklin's anymore.

  • Self-Care is STILL that high?! I guess with medkits nerfed it's not THAT much slower to run Self-Care + Botany but notice how Botany isn't even in the top ten.

If people are still running Self-Care on it's own with Sloppy being as popular as ever, there really is no hope for them.

  • We'll Make It counters mangled pretty well, and it's a strong perk even if the killer isn't using mangled.

As for Hemo, I culd see them removing it altogether from Sloppy. pr at the very least not make it buff hemo.

  • Midwich probably, being a big Silent Hill fan. Racoon City Police Station and The Game are nifty too.

Original map probably... Lery's and Dead Dawg.

  • I faced heaps of them at first, but after the nerfs I@'e not faced a signle one.

Of course! Because we all know that what a killer should do after hooking someone is get to the other side of the map and never, ever come back close to that hook again even if you see another survivor going to it!

It is known that even if a killer is just cleaning the chase by breaking a pallet or kicking a gen in the close vicinity after hooking someone, he is "camping". And if someone do the save with the killer at 10 meters before even giving him the chance to leave, it is not the fault of the savior, it is the killer's because he is "camping". And if the killer just broke chase after 30 seconds with another survivor and decide to get to the hook as there hasn't still be a save and should be one soon, it doesn't matters, because killers don't have any right to try to prevent a save, so they are "camping".

As written in the Survivor's Rulebook, the facts, the situation and what survivors do doesn't matter! If the killer is anywhere near the hook when a save is done, it must be because he is camping. And if he was not, then he was "proxy camping", as that is a buzzword with a more wide definition that covers every single other case that isn't camping.

So of course, the only conclusion for survivors getting tunneled because they use their protection to body block instead of getting the hell out of there as fast as they can is that it is not their fault for it, it was because the killer is camping. Period. It's the only truth.

In short: Stop complaining that people call you campers and tunnelers in chat when it is what you are, tunneling campers! It's all your fault!

This does also bring up a good point. Unhooks aren't supposed to be free. You're not supposed to always be able to unhook and heal under the hook and then go off to a nearby gen completely unimpeded.

It feels like some survivors genuinely expect to be able to do all that for free and if the killer ever tries to stop them then they're a bad player.

  • @Melinko said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/393153/unhook-body-blocking

Everytime this topic comes up, my answer will always be the same.

Why are you at the hook anyways that this is an issue?

There is 4 survivors. 1 hooked, 1 getting them off the hook and 2 working on gens.

You are focused on the 2 who are not a threat (needing to unhook, and heal and get back into working on a gen) vs using any of the really useful information perks and going after the other 2 who are working to finish gens.

If you aren't near a hook, this would never be an issue.

    Hook.

    Leave.

Find a new survivor on a gen and attack.

    Repeat.

If they use it when there is only 2 survivors left, welp that's a fair down as you've clearly not tunneled.

But if you are near the hook when 4 survivors are still up (unless they follow you to hook like a moron) then you should never have a problem.

As already mentioned there's numerous reasons for a killer to be near the hook as the unhook happens.

The survivor is unhooked before the killer has even had a chance to properly leave. This is actually a lot more common than you'd think, especially when it's a confident SWF. Infact if you're against a SWF they're even MORE likely to bodyblock with BT for their friend as well.

The killer does leave and looks for other survivors and just doesn't find any for a while. If the hooked survivor is still hooked, may as well head back and confirm another hook stage or catch someone going for the unhook. Depending on perks and how stealthy the survivors are, this can happen decently often. Yes aura reading perks can help but some can be played around and Distortion/OTR are popular perks which just stops them working. Also not everyone has bought the Alien chapter so don't have that locker-scream perk.

The killer does find someone and chases them and for some reason that survivor takes the chase back to the hook. This happens decently often as well, either because they're doing an archive and NEED that unhook, or they're just dozy.

There's three perfectly-probable reasons for the killer to be nearby as the unhook happens that aren't laziness/camping, and they're all things that do happen to many killers. Yes, much of the time it will be because they're proxy-camping and just wanna tunnel, but often it's not that, and to imply it's always just lazy, evil killers is silly.
