I don't think one can actually make things better unless the game gets more complex, which seems to be something people (at least some loud ones) are very much against.

Its not about complexity. I played spirit and with a good headset and only got 1 2k by a good team everyone else was 4k except maybe 1 or 2 3k and it wasn't because I was outplayed. The only complex thing about spirit is learning how to use your ears good.

kinda do, but by all means, I don't see spirit get the hate deathslinger is getting. I don't mean on the 'needs a nerf' level, I mean beyond that. And all because he's 'unfun'.

Well I think no killer should be removes nor get that much hate. I havent seen it but I dont doubt you. All it takes is ine PH DS or spirit who knows how to use their power to make you feel hopeless and just hate them. I contemplate quitting as soon as I get one of those killers who know how to abuse the bad mechanics soley because I want to be able to have a chance at living longer than 30 seconds

Glitches fall outside of the normal realm of gameplay, and you feeling sorry for someone also falls outside of the normal realm of gameplay.

In traditional terms of games themselves, the better player wins. It's really simple, not convoluted at all.

Also, as far as basement camping goes, assuming you didn't go down via a glitch or lagspike, you still wound up on a hook. He outplayed you. That simple.

Ok but you fail to realize if you run the killer for a 1 minute thats standard but if you run a killer for 2 minutes and up you are better. If you can loop and not get hit and not waste pallets you are better. If they have to tunnel ans blood lust you to win you are better and they are proving it by seeing you as a threat. You could have otzdarva go against the top 4 survivors in the world and if he lost ita not because he was worse it's because at the highest level of play this game is unfair. The only way to gauge who is better is by their interactions with the survivor or killer in a 1v1. If a killer ends chases really quick he is better if the survivor gets good chases and screws up the killer he is better. Its not about whose team does their objectives or who lives or dies its who does the best in the 1v1

If you lost, they were better, no matter what they use.

That's how winning and losing works.

ummm thats convoluted as crap. Oh I got hit through a window after a lag spike after running the bubba for 5 gens but now he camps the basement which isn't skillful so he is better. Dang man you should rethink your reasoning. I have GIVEN bad killers free kills when I could escape and now im worse than them over that?

thing with deathslinger is that no one complained till some big name streamer said he can't be countered the usual way, which the community twisted into 'he has NO counterplay' which lead to 'he's unfun because you can't run him', which ultimately lead to some people being outright vicious towards everyone who likes him in any way.

And I hope we agree that the latter is absolutely not okay

Yeah it's not, but the issue with that is I hated spirit and deathslinger eventually and I couldn't properly explain why because I just never thought deeply and after reading what other said I realized I agreed. Thats no bandwagon and in a game like this people have to realize that not everyone can be in touch with their feelings like other or just downright dont pay attention to why they dislike something. And also opinions are subject to change. I mean I look like I bandwagoned but I was always like dude what am I supposed to do against spirit and then I heard why she was so oppressive and it finally taught me why I didnt like her. You kinda understand?

I mean if he lost then no he wasn't better than the Freddy.

You know I ran a ghostface for 5 gens because i was playing with my gf who just started. I was obviously better but he got me with noed at end game and without my gf breaking noed and the random saving me I would have died. So no dying after you run a killer for 3 gens or 2 shows that you either are lucky or better. No good killer gets ran that long without being worse than the survivor

Yeah, but that's not the situation I was talking about. I also didn't say how easy or difficult it'd be to prevent it. I just said that if the last survivor finds the hatch before the killer, that survivor gets a free escape, then added that if the last few survivors find the hatch and a key, they also get a free escape. You're talking about a different scenario altogether.

Ahhh I wish you could have said that a hit better so as to not make it so easily misconstrued but yeah if its open or the last guy is dying and the survivor gets it yeah he gets to leave.

I’m pretty sure during PTB everyone said he’s fun to play as and play against, in fact a lot of Killers said he was weak and needed some buffs. Now all of the sudden he’s unfun. People in this forum love to complain and join the band wagon

Have you ever heard of initial thoughts and opinions?

after those 2 shall it be Doctor and Clown, they both have antiloop powers too afterall.

Doc slows down during his charge but no one complained about that. Even though you can loop him by just jot dropping the pallet. I have played doc a good amount and good survivors will keep running in circles and by the time you get a hit it'll take a bit unless they misplay or you time it really good. Also clown isn't even that bad albeit he is annoying and I hate him for his anti loop and blurred vision but these killers can be countered with pre drops and looping. Clown requires pre drop and doc requires you to keep distance in the loop and not get caught too close to him

Further attacks cannot be made for 1 second

Cooldown before further attacks after Punishment of the Damned reduced from 2.75 seconds to 2.25 second

    Live patch notes

    After cancelling Rites of Judgement:

Movement speed is 3.68 m/s for 1 second

Further attacks cannot be made for 1 second

Cooldown before further attacks after Punishment of the Damned reduced from 2.75 seconds to 2.25 seconds

Remember: "We are not aiming to make The Executioner stronger or weaker overall, but rather to address some of the frustrations of both sides."

Sure, that's why you had to give him another nerf since the ptb version didn't satisfy everyone enough. Did the cooldown receive a change? or the POTD attack receive an improvement in anyway? No.

This seems to be a pattern now. Release a version on the ptb which you know full well won't be final, let people complain, then put out the real, nerfed version afterwards where nobody has a chance to test it.

Have you perhaps thought that, maybe, they are actually listening to feedback and ADJUSTING and not giving the "real" nerf. I mean isn't that what they always say😂😂 these changes are subject to change.

I see nothing wrong in playing how you feel like it, instead of following some twisted morals that benefit your opponents. He wanted to play slugfest, I'm pretty sure he knew the risks of it, so I'm not here to judge him, since he isn't the one making whining posts trying to put himself in a good light. Instead I see a petty survivor crying about a pretty predictable reaction on a sabotage - slugging. According to your words and the way YOU described the situation - freddy overreacted, but I can totally see how he just got a good opportunity for 4 slug to win and you made a drama out of it.

Also, it's funny how you act so arrogant, even though there is no truth on your side. You are just a crybaby who can't move on to the next match because you got outplayed. Moreover, you and your team got 4 slugged by a Freddy - killer with one of the worst snowball potential in the game. Considering how easy it is to counter slugging even from best snowballing killers like Oni, I wouldn't be making posts about that game, because that would be equal to telling everyone how much I suck at the game to lose like that.

    Yikes.

You got so mad you broke forum rules and told him he was a baby and every thing. First he ran the guy for 2 gens against a team that was slugged. So this guy obviously was best out of his team and was better than the freddy. He got hit through a pallet which doesnt involve skill but bad wifi. And if this guy sucks at the game then the freddy and his team is even worse. By defending this killer you are insulting him. Either way if you get that mad and slug everyone because of ONE sabo it shows that you are petty or oversensitive and frankly that is detrimental to his points. Heck the OP said that he was worried for his health and regardless its annoying to be 4 man slugged I had a killer 4 man slug on a map with bad rng he only hooked for bbq so he can slug. Its a jerk move same as gen rushing. You have a point he shouldnt even complain because he did good regardless but dude just calm down before you get banned. I almost got banned for telling a dude to shut up after he personally attacked me. Just try and be calm please I dont want you to get in trouble on the forums, neither would I for anyone else.

  • @Zeezy4Squeezy said:

Ok, I just go through a game where I sabotaged a hook before they could hook the other survivor. He immediately drops them and tries to come for me. I loop them for two fens and he lost me in the shack. He then proceeds to slugg EVERY survivor (except me) and tries to force me down as well as everyone else on the ground. Once he gets me in a pallet drop ( these hotboxes tho 🤣) he hooks me with everyone else of the ground for a 4k. This was a Freddy.

Why is everyone so angry with these sabotages? I'm generally concerned for the try hards because the sweat is so real I can't help but crack up everytime. I'm not throwing dirt on anyone, except this Freddy, but holy crap he was sooo mad 🤣

I mean what he did originally was smart, chasing that long was dumb. Losing points to spite you is also dumb. If he was good enough to slug your team he was good enough to win probably or at least got more points

You mean the tournament where survivors were only allowed yellow items and addons and only 2 of a given perk per team?

Again not saying she's bad. Just overrated

She isnt though. No one said she was easy or that anyone can be a god with her. The people in that tournament were good nurses but they aren't even the best nurses. And items wouldnt have mattered when they lose chases in 30 seconds unless it linke bnp and toolbox but even then those were good nurses against good survivors rushing gens imagine a public game which is what this game is focused on. That's why she isnt overrated because this game is NEVER like that unless a tourney squad wants to bully a baby killer

If a killer only becomes that good if you dedicate your life to it then they were never that good to begin with.

Don't get me wrong she's very strong when you get the hang of her. But i do feel people over exaggerated her power way to much. Every killer becomes a beast with enough practise. Look at Otz's trapper.

If Nurse really became an unstoppable monster with enough practise then more people would bite the bullet and learn her. She's the S-tier with the lowest pick and kill rate.

To be fair. Automatticly putting her on top of every tier list is a meme at this point.

    Just my oppinion of course

I mean you have to dedicate your life to Any thing to be the best. But good nurse players wreck just look at the hexy tournament

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

First step, lower your expectations. Nurse is not really the SSSS+ tier people make her out to be. If you hope to effortlessly mow down experienced survivors then you're setting yourself up for dissapointment unless you plan to start plating for a living.

Second step: play, play, play. Practise makes perfect. Try and get a lot of aura perks at first to get the sneaky hits in.

Try to be patient. Don't instantly use your secons blink but take a second to look what the survivor is doing.

She is that good. You just need to have LOTS of practice

  • @Bwsted said:

When you get a good return on your investment.

It's always about what you're investing (in this case, a very good pallet), what you get in exchange and what that means for the balance of pressure (you delay a hit/down) and what you lose/give up to the other side (the area becomes weaker).

I can name as many variables as you want, but the thought process is just as described above and a little common sense will guide you.

    E.g.

    • You're injured and dead on hook --> drop the pallet;
    • It's early game and you're being first chased by an Oni --> drop the pallet;
    • A Trapper is after you, you run to the shack, basement is there and you don't know if he trapped the area --> drop the pallet;
    • Clown/Bubba/Billy with bamboozle --> drop the pallet;
    • Wraith, you're healthy and there aren't many resources left in the area --> save the pallet;
    • Etc.

Oni should only be done in swf I tried pre drops as a solo and ran him to my team😑

  • @Rareware0192 said:

When do you feel like it’s an appropriate time to drop a god pallet during the course of a game?

If you cant block the window off without being hit don't drop it. Just leave the shack if you can. Only drop it if its really necessary like providing time to finish the last gens or to make sure you dont get hooked in basement by bubba or Hell if you're about to go down. Its questionable just dont do it too early is all I can say

I usually only play survivor or if I do play killer, I play doctor. But I’ve decided that officially I will be maining Nurse. I don’t know what self-hating though in my head convinced me to do so but here I am. It is my second or third week learning Nurse and so far it is hell. It is inconceivable how frustrating and disheartening it is to just barely hit a survivor to only be stunned or left in the dust; especially if I put a lot of work and effort into the chase. I understand that winning is a pipe dream for new Nurse players but it doesn’t ease the disappointment. I want to get better at Nurse and so practice quite a bit. I even watch tip videos and try to work their ideas into my play style. I’m not sure if I’ll ever be a decent Nurse. Do any of you know tips, tricks, or general advice for me. Btw, I’m a rank 16 Nurse at level 50. Idk if that’s relevant but just in case. Thank for even reading this far. I hope anyone else who is doing the same can use theses suggestions as well. :)

You're low experience as killer in general is holding you back. I never practice nurse that long and I could do mediocre with her. I'm not even ok with her I dont think. But you put weeks in so now keep it up and you'll get great

When did I say that? My main statement was quote, “ALL I am vouching for is the removal of restrictions in private matches, let US the CONSUMERS decide how many killers we want and survivors we bring, don’t restrict us because it might, ‘Crash the game...”

So basically you say the consumers should get to be in charge of the games rules and that we should wreck the weak game servers just to try new things. Ok well yeah games would crash and it would be hectic and it may be fun and also if we did that it would change how the game actually is. So yes even though your point was not what I referenced your point would result in the games core aspect being destroyed

    It's not logical.

The 'logical' leap people (you too, sorry) are making is that they sort games by the wrong measures.

CoD is what it is, the 'lore' there doesn't allow for much more than that. But DbD is different. It's more like, as silly as this may sound, Pokemon:

You have your setting, your lore, and what happens based on it is what makes the gamemode.

A 1:4 mode as we have it now would be as possible as a scavenger hunt or 'murder in the dark' (that's among us' genre iirc).

In short: CoD is a FPS because it is made as such and the lore is made to fit that.

DbD can be various things because they would fit with the lore.

Hell, even a single-player puzzle game like 'The Room' or 'House of DaVinci' could theoretically work if it focuses on the characters' lore.

See that's where you're wrong. The lore is already set that its 4 survivors against a killer. Although the fact the entitiyu has multitudes could easily leave room for a hide and seek mode or whatnot but frankly it takes away from the actual lore and its also logical that it would either be a hit or not and if it is the queue times will be screwed and if not it will for the other mode. That is all logical, not fear and also people have been wanting a new game mode it just wouldnt work unless we could get more players

It's an addon for medkits, and it gives the survivor being healed a 20 second speed boost. How big of a speed boost it will be is yet to be seen. If it's anywhere near sprint burst it will be beyond broken. If it's more like hope then no one will use it.

If its more like hope then it would be fine that it stays but if it was sprint burst speed then it shouldnt even be an add on. The blight rush is awesome but it can easily be abused since it is the speed of billy with a predetermined distance.

You have just proven Raider's point about what's wrong, just saying.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1689420#Comment_1689420

That's what I meant. But also, yeah, the old maps need an overhaul as well. Just adding breakable walls won't cut it. I'd say the main issue is that a lot of maps are centred around the killer they came with: Swamp is ideal for Hag, Lery's is ideal for Doctor, etc, while on other maps a killer might fall flat.

How well they do on 'fish out of water maps' on average without perks/on adept mode is a pretty good measure for how powerful a killer is, I'd say.

No its understandable, but how would call of duty be if they turned it into a puzzle game? Or in this case if cod became strictly 1v1 or 1v4 now the whole game is changed and its not even good. 3 Survivors is not enough and 4 is, unless gens are too fast. Adding a new gameplay mode would be cool and add more players. But changing the core gameplay is a bold but pointless move and often destructive. And it starts to show that denying these changes isn't fear or bad its logical

These addons are only obtainable from a yearly event... how long would a supply of them last if a player used them in every match?

I am not saying I am agreeing with this change, but pointing out the thought process that probably is taking place. What exactly does the survivor add on do?

  • @CaptainRaider said:

For the longest time I have been bothered by the strong resilience in shaking up the gameplay. I have received nothing but strong disapproval for shaking up the core game; for years dbd fans have been putting up with the same repetitive and stale gameplay.

I always hear fans ask for a new gamemode, playing killer with another killer, more options for custom game, limited time modes. However, there is always an equally opposing force defending the devs saying, “Dbd can’t handle that,” “It would split up the playerbase,” and “no way could our game’s lovable spaghetti code handle that.” When, as CONSUMERS, do we put our foot down? STOP making excuses for devs who prioritize Google ######### Stadia and premium cosmetics over NEW gameplay; ignoring the temporary bandaid of new killer abilities, perks or a different looking survivor. I’m tired of doing gens as survivor, and I’m tired of sweating my ass off or being bored out of my mind in a 14 minute game of chasing survivors without socializing or talking with another human being.

ALL I am vouching for is the removal of restrictions in private matches, let US the CONSUMERS decide how many killers we want and survivors we bring, don’t restrict us because it might, “Crash the game.” I couldn’t give less of a #########. This game crashes with or without having fun, so at least let me play with my mates how I WANT to play, instead of being scolded about how I am not playing the game right or am upsetting the balance of the force in the ######### entity’s realm. Take advantage of it pressure another survivor. If he has unbreakable he either wastes it and can be slugged later or someone comes saving both of them meaning you have time to kick gens and hook another as they heal for probably 20 seconds befire they A start a new gen and the 2 saved stack meaning less efficient anf the other goes back to gen they were at. I get squads like that all the time, I'm a rank 17 killer and they don't have to be high ranks to have that build layout. I've had players using Kindred and Dark sense to see where everyone is at all times. some perks should really cancel each other out, this goes for killers too

Thats not even good enough to be considered sweaty. You rank up and you deal with this and you'll wish you had kindred and dark sense users

It doesn't mean anything, just like the rest of the stats we get. There are WAY too many variables in play for this to be considered a legit statistic.

What ranks were the Survivors? What ranks were the Killers? SWF or no SWF? Mori's or no Mori? Meta perks or meme build?

    You get the point.

It means that survivors escaping is less than the kills of a killer. There are more survivors than killers so common sense would say that it's easier to kill th an escape

  • Youd be surprised how many people actually have that type of ignorant thinking. So I tend to not think of them as jokes because well this forum can surprise you

Everything the killer do and every we use is brain dead. Nothing we do take skill

    Yeah ok buddy

These are well-made points, and I especially agree with some upset players saying everything under the sun is toxic because of a particular playstyle. It's important for people to ask them selves why they feel a certain way (e.g.: OoO really gripes them, because the killer they play is easily countered by the OoO/swf combination) and also change their expectations (e.g.: If they are finding that situation too difficult, maybe use the round to practice chases).

This could have been worded in a less aggressive way, especially considering the "insult" part of the discussion, but I do get it comes from a place of extreme frustration at the way a section of the DBD community conducts itself. Plus everyone gets like that from time to time. Maybe being more empathic and responsible for our own experiences will promote a more positive community... Who knows!

I wouldnt say its an insult but commenting on a behavior

I mean, they did at one point -- but they removed it because it was a ""bug"" despite the vast majority of people actually being happy about it. :u

Wow I remember that but I didn't use the forums so i didnt know people were happy

Sure, if the randoms you get know what they're doing.

Sometimes you just get put into a match full of a bunch of rank 16~20's though, who aren't even past the "teen" number worth of hours of playtime.

    Which isn't their fault.

Well its kinda hard to tell their rank when they don't implement that in lobbies

Yeah, I mained her back in her prime many years ago because she was so OP. I still have the muscle memory to play her very well. I find it one of the easiest DBD experiences unless you load into a particularly hideous map like Lery's.

Its hard to pick her up she is the hardest killer in the Game

Getting one of your mates to artificially tank his rank so two red/purple rankers can queue with him to roflstomp lower ranks is toxic as all hell.

@MusicNerd_TC has a point they usually arent that good nor the toxic ones in general who just like bullying
