We take the most upvoted questions, we've said in the past why we're doing this. If we don't take the most upvoted question we get accused of cherry picking the questions but quite often the most upvoted question is about upcoming things which we are not in a position to discuss yet - that happens for many different reasons.
Although in yesterday's stream I think a lot of questions were answered fully, there were a few things that can't be answered further but we gave out as much information as we possibly could.
You just snitched on yourself "upcoming" is a clue

Dbd isn't cod but I do agree the events are lackluster

Better nerf pig, bubba and doc I guess xD
pretty balanced overall though, we´re between 2k and 3k. Given how much Survivors love to throw games or hide in bushes, I´m actually suprised it isn´t higher.
"Does this mean killers will get nerfed/survivors buffed?" I really hope not. The good teams still crush almost any Killer. People just need to adapt better, the times are over where there were 50+ safe pallets on every map and lots of infinite loops. Step up your game, Killers went through insane hardships to have a fighting chance. Now we have to put in more effort as Survivors.
Well good teams mean experienced swf so why should killers stay that way over that faulty reasoning?(also I do agree most dont need to be nerfed or buffed for the most part)

" Nothing is ever good enough" I know your just like a dev in a mask or whatever but come on man, the event is just some extra bp and charms, not even free outfits, that's so low. What's their to be happy about? they removed ways to get tokens from WGLF, boy am i excited to play now
No I just am a person who believes in fairness. Also I didnt know we lost ways to earn tokens. And still my main point has never been to say they arent bad. Just that with what they put up with and what they are trying to do they deserve some credit

1st off this sounds like dev made this post

3rd off like every dev white knight post it says something among the line "they promised x" the devs are always saying stuff but everything that comes out these days is so boring
Yes me a white knight over the fact that I can see them trying and having to deal with a whole community of people where. Nothing is ever good enough and that they have to constantly deal with babies. So thats why im saying people are giving them too much hate

They dont deserve the credit because don't listen to player feedback, the only feedback they listen is cry baby survivors
Ha not even. No more infinites, instaheals, insta blinds, double bt, double pallets, window and pallet vaccum, entity blockers, bloodlust, breakable walls, fixed ds ans hook bug and hill bug. Nerfed thana and buffed the others and reduced timer in pop which isnt that bad. Dead hard still is finicky. Killer side hit validations. Broken hitboxes. Hatch priority. Ability to tunnel and camp and fast gen speeds. Hmmm seems like its either half and half or favorable to killers

No they dont not at all. Console sucks, killers still have gross gen speeds stopping them from getting pressures survivor is boring as hell rn, bugs every patch, cant fix bugs consistently. The devs will deserve credit when they get their ######### together.
Sorry but some means some. As I stated above there are things you cant deny and things you have to see that they have done that suck.

I dont know about his background, all i am giving is an example of one man making more progress on a free game than a millionaire company could on a paid game. and unturned is not some dead indie game that was never successful; since 2014 it still has ten thousands of players.
Hmmm I do agree that they need to rethink their approach but now they have to find out what to do. Also this map change is a BIG improvement and then the graphics still need to be updated I believe right? If so a total game changer could be in the works

They can try to skip a chapter. I haven't spent any money on DbD since the last rift because I'm not playing the game as much. It might help in the long run instead of increments... but I guess investors wouldn't want that?
I feel they might secretly be working on that. There is no way they dont know about the issues and they probably are trying to figurw it out. It will be hard to fix this game
-
@MPGamer18 said:
I've been playing for almost 4 years and feel this game has improved tenfold. Can it be better, absolutely. Will they continue to improve it, yes. However, they have to work with the player base and unfortunately that's not going to make everyone happy.
Developing a game like this is not a simple task. BHVR has to take into consideration player skill levels or lack thereof and strike a balance that works for everyone. When Freddy first released, I was perfectly fine with his design. But most weren't. BHVR listened to community and made him more accessible for a wider audience. This happens with a lot of MP games when they first release. Developers have to adjust difficulty to accommodate lower skilled players.
Which sucks because instead of working to get better at the game, people tend to complain about designs that simply don't fit their play style and want it changed so it does. Which can hurt a player who could have benefited from a new killer that worked better for them.
Video games are competitive business and the fact that DBD has no rival after all these years says a lot about the state of the game and their dedication to improve it.
People also fail to realize they deal with so much pressure no matter what they do they get ######### and that takes a toll on productivity

I've defended them a ton, even when they've made huge mistakes, over and over. But right now the game is unplayable as solo survivor or as a PS4 player, and killer is boring because of the matchmaking giving red rank killers easy games.
I don't think I need to say what's wrong with the rift, since it seems it's going to be as grindy as Tome IV (they seemed to have learnt from the challenges, though) with the number of fragments we're getting per challenge.
I loved a lot of the changes that came with this patch, including a lot of the skins, but it became unplayable, so what's the point in new skins that you have to pay for?
We can give them credit when the game works as intended, because right now it looks like they put profit before game health.
I just played on ps4 last night and it was fine. The issues are relative to peoples console and wifi for half of it and the other half is just bad optimization

Idk how new you are, but here’s a few things off the top of my head:
- Constantly pushing for the Rift to be a thing while making the grind unnecessarily long.
- Hosting a Cosmetic competition and then halfassing the winner’s design.
- This entire “event” despite the event 2 years ago being better in every conceivable way.
- Selling cosmetics as full linked sets to get more money.
- Tieing the event to the rift so you can only use the cankers 3 times for only 4k BP.
- Sounds bugs galore.
- Changing Discordance out of nowhere with no prior testing in the PTB instead of the laundry list of actual issues.
- Continued push for breakable walls despite complaints, they even READDED THE GOD WINDOW ON MACMIILIAN.
I could go on but this is a company that has burned up any goodwill they have earned
I agree it has been a crap show lately. But I can still see the effort even if people dont. Also rift isnt that hard if you play the game constantly. I dont like the money aspect of it though I hate that. Also I have 1000 hours and started last august. I don't know much about the previous years except from what ive seen and heard from multiple sources. Then again I doubt people would lie about no blood lust amd double pallets

He's saying you're blinded by your appreciation and love for the company that you yourself aren't capable of seeing the criticism people are levying towards the game. See your response to my comment? You are white knighting, even if you don't see it.
This game doesn't need to do a Halloween event, despite doing a real event that actually had rewards that drove up player retention the last two years? It's the point that this year, they skimped out on anything and instead made a cash grab.
You're repeatedly trying to humanize this company to drum up sympathy, but yet you don't understand why people would be upset about not getting anything this year when we did for the past two? Like, with earnable rewards for just playing? IN A HALLOWEEN GAME? You can't see their side of criticism, or humanize them like you do this game company? Come on now. That's why you're a white knight.
Funny because. I CRITISIZED THEM SHARE YOUR GUYS VIEWS like holy crap dude. I literally agree with so many of you, but my damn point still stands they make mistakes and should get at least a bit of credit. And if that make me a white knight i don't care. Who is nelson sexton

Well the art team is awesome. I will always praise the art team for their work. However the changes to perks are very biased and inconsistent. How are they going to change Pop without touching DS. There are things that is abusable that favors the survivors a lot more than the killers. The last update that was genuinely awesome was the Endgame collapse and only because BOTH SIDES can control when to end the game [or speed it along to the end].
Trust me I agree but they dont let us know everything for all we know the next chapter DS could be fixed or other changes. They cant change every thing at once because it requires testing through PTB and they have to do it in increments

It's not moving in a good direction, though. Instead of doing things that will increase player retention and login time for the game, they're doing the opposite. There's a reason player retention is considered such a valuable metric when it comes to the video game industry; and pushing people away during the main season to play the game because other games are doing Halloween better simply by doing anything is a bad look. And I'm talking about some of the most historically greedy corporations in gaming right now. They're offering free things and events just for playing the game. It creates buzz and goodwill from the player, as well as interest, which in turn sometimes causes them to crack open their wallet for some of those other sweet Halloween lootz. It's a win-win for both parties.
So no, I disagree with your post in almost its entirety. The fact that they're not doing anything for Halloween and instead making a cash grab more suggests the opposite of a move in a good direction. It means they're willing to sacrifice the goodwill of the playerbase for short-sighted profits because the longevity and health of the game may not really be a concern anymore.
And finally, it's a company, dude. They don't need you to white knight for them. They have a marketing team for that.
Im not whiteknighting im pointing things out. Also That's dumb, NO ONE needs to celebrate Halloween. And they do have an event for it, even if it isnt as good as other games like COD which make WAYYYYYYYYYYYY more money. Also the game has been moving great the last 2 updates were trash though and game breaking

- That's only because the game at launch was bare bones and broken. If it wasn't, the game wouldn't have gotten much except for some more content and doors.
- We know the code is spaghetti because changing one thing breaks another. If the code wasn't spaghetti, or the coders knew what they're doing (I'm sure they do), it would be functional.
- Assuming people who give criticism doesn't know a thing about Game Development is like assuming a consumer doesn't know anything about Economics; It's simply dumb. If they cared, they would've accepted the community's cry for a patch that focuses on fixing and balancing rather than adding new content that breaks the game.
Inhave criticized them for their mistakes and I have no freaking clue how to code or developed so your point is kinda falling apart

I personally have no experience in game development. And therefore no clue how long it takes to come up with ideas and implementing them.
However, there are certain mistakes that the developers made and continue making. Such as broken promises and subsequent rejection of apology/explanation, which are things that people of this community deserve!
It's the basics that aren't being looked upon—be on good terms with your community (majority of it).

You don't seem to respect their opinion if you're calling this post "white knighting". This game is substantially better than it was four years ago. Is it buggy as hell? Yes. Does it run poorly, especially on console? Yes. Do I wish they would prioritize other things at times? Yes. But still, they have vastly improved balance, added an amazing amount of content to the game, and built an experience that's fun enough to retain players for years.
We don't know what the code looks like under the hood. It could be that parts of this game would really need time-intensive rewrites in order to make them more reliable and better performing going forward. That might just be very hard for them to prioritize given the breakneck pace of content releases they've been keeping up, especially because that doesn't make money in the short term. Do I wish they would do whatever they need to do to increase the quality of their product, even if it means sacrificing content? Sure. Does that mean they're incompetent and deserve non-stop ######### from the people on this forum who don't know the first thing about video game development or how to run a business? Absolutely not.
Hey he had a point and so do you. Don't add gas to the fire, lets just be civil and put our opinions if possible. Please?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not denying they have done good work, but releasing patch after patch that breaks the game, then waiting another few weeks before even doing anything isn't acceptable from a business point of view. We all bought the game as a finished product, yet every patch it feels like we're playing some kind of beta that has issues everyday. I've played games where updates broke something, but the game was then hotfixed after a day or two. Theres no excuse for waiting weeks to fix issues in the game.
My only point here is to try and get some people to understand that it can be hard, and that they have been doing good things. And trust me I know all about the bugs I have to deal with it too and I hate it. My intention isnt to say they arent to blame its to say that they don't deserve all the hate people give. Some people are mad over small things and then it ramps up. Objectively from the way the game was before this is really good and some additions are great same as some being crap. I'm glad you understand by the way, you seemed like you were going to be belligerent and im glad you werent

I'm sorry, but are you seriously trying to defend the devs over the current train wreck the game is becoming? I respect your opinion, I do, but please stop white knighting for them. This game has been out for 4 years. If it was the first few months, and the devs were fairly new at developing the game, then I'd give them a pass for the issues. But no. It's 4 years. If they seriously can't code a single patch to not break everything in the game at this point, theres something seriously wrong. There's supposed to be a QA department, yet they must be sleeping during work hours because the current state of the game shows they tested little. PS4 currently has the most broken FPS right now. Then side this along with the fact sounds are yet again, broken, the game loads in with a killer standing in a weird broken pose. The 'event' is basically another day where we have to spend money. So, yes, mistakes can be made, but 4 years worth? No. I don't think so.
The load in thing is funny my oni had no mask or hair. Also I never said they were the best and my whole point is that they deserve credit for what they have done. Dont come in talking about whiteknighting, a white knight doesn't openly criticize like I did. I pointed out things that people don't realize. And yeah it has been a train wreck recently, but plenty of games have been.

Yeah, it's the "if they don't know they are playing against cheaters, they wouldn't complain" mentality. EDIT: People upvoting the comment below, why are you the way you are?
Umm your edit was so unecessarry @Aven_Fallen has a point. Swf is stressful but they arent that difficult. If you play a low tier killer then yeah, but at high ranks you gotta play the stronger killers with stronger builds unless you're a great killer. But either way only some.swf are really such a big deal. My usually group involves me being the one who can actually loop while one can't and the other 2 can kinda loop. We dont go all tryhard or anything and we give killa if we get a bad or low rank killer. I mean when swf are toxic they usually screw up and when you pressure a regular swf they break down. I've only been wrecked by swf a few times that I can remember and I don't even think im that good

from what i have seen from playing you can cancel the charge up with an m1 but the moment its fully charged you have to commit to the range attack or get punished for canceling it. he still has his mind game in a way but the whole vault and i hit you with my power or don't and i get a free m1 is not as good as it once was and that is what the survivors were complaining about
No I mean with the proper time you can do it instantly if not close enough, watch otz video, and if you go shack and they bait they either medium vault and possibly get hit or go through shack pallet and drop it. I haven't faced a PH yet, but from what I've seen it seems like its still the same scenario.

Let me list all disappointments people had this patch. Feel free to add more if I miss some. Of course there weren't only disappointments and the patch had a lot of positive and cool things, however let's discuss negative stuff here.
- No event currency or free way to get halloween skins
- Never Stop Slashing not having mask animations despite the fact it is possible to implement such (look at Oni f/e) and is missing a lot of details from the sketch everybody voted for (like colour of the coat)
- Spirit shadownerf
- Discordance needless nerf + dumb distance requirement to force people tier up the perk
- Discordance nerf was made as a surprise and wasn't listed in PTB patchnotes, so people didn't have an opportunity to give any feedback on its changes.
- Console framerate issues
- Killer's event addon is event only, but survivor's ones could be used even after event expires.
- Macmillan maps generation is bugged.
- Groaning storehouse borderline OP window
- Shelter woods are still shelter woods
- Thanatophobia phobia nerfed more than buffed
- We are going to live forever having less amount of ways to earn tokens (Head On saves don't give tokens f/e)
- Pyramidhead nerf that horribly crippled him and his camera
- Killer having weird models and animations when spawning in the trial
They messed up pyramid head you can instantly M1 after full charge of power. Otz posted a vid about it. So until they properly fix PH im gonna be kinda upset. I wanted to see the new PH not see him with the same issue if you time it right
