Why? Rank does not affect who you go against

The game is already dying cuz of sbmm, open your eyes, this last dlc didn't even increase the playerbase
Yes sbmm will most likely be the death of this game but I wouldnt say the game is dying. Yes its player base did drop but you cant forget that was after summer where the player base is lowest. Alot of people play during summer. Now that doesnt excuse the massive drop off it got but you have to look at the other factors. Also keep in mind that we only know of the player drop off on steam and not other plat forms.

Yes it does, dbd's playerbase has only been dropping since the announcement of SBMM.
And if it is working so good, why as a rank 1 killer with good/high MMR, am i getting mostly matched against baby survivors?
Those baby survs probably get matched against alot of good killers, hence they stop playing the game and the playercount is dropping.
tbh thats just bad match making yes the player base is dropping but thats on steam there isnt only 30 thousand players playing right now. The game regardless of its dropoff is still fine and will most likely last for a good couple more years

Rereading your first post, the killswitch was added during a mid patch as well. We used to have to just keep playing with broken perks and addons for long stretches. When I first started there was an ‘infinite mending’ Legion exploit. I wished there was a killswitch back then.
Everyone can get behind a ‘healthier’ game. That’s why streamers have ‘empty’ suggestions like that. Ra-ra. But to say BHVR is not working on health year round, which they clearly are, is disingenuous in my view.
Maybe when you see an issue in health, make specific posts about it so it can be addressed.
Fair I suppose I will keep that in mind
-
@Steel_Eyed said:
They pretty much do health chapters twice a year during mid patches. The other two are content based. For instance the last two health patches brought: new HUDs, new character models, new animations, new generators, massive overhauls (like Nurse). I believe Trickster got overhauled as well (don’t want to check before finishing this post). Twins were fixed; I never see those old bugs anymore.
The ‘content’ mid patches (like the upcoming one I’m expecting) reworked three to four killers each. In the last year we had massive updates to: Demogorgon, Freddy, Huntress, Trapper, Plague, Deathslinger, and Spirit.
We are receiving what OP is asking for. Four times a year.
I mean the bigger problems idk its complicated I dont really know how to word it.
-
If they remove I-frames you wont exactly have to wait for dead hard anymore. You also wouldn't have to worry about them dead Harding through you or fov teching you just to make it to the pallet and keep dh. To me dh is a very iffy topic. Yeah dh for distance sucks but when a player fov techs you just to make yourself seconded guess weather they might dh only to make it to a pallet without using it. I dont know its hard thing to say as I've done this before.

Im not as it may seem. I'm well-seasoned player. I just want this game to get some fixes. I know that's a lot to ask for especially from behavior, but it would be nice to have

Not completely as some content creators would have you to be believe. The game is still in good and will last for a good while before its gone for good

Personally though there are several problems with this game the only boon that is actually a problem is coh and that's it really. the rest of the boons are Niche and are really only problems with like bully squads and thats it but thats mostly because of poor map design and totems just being at hard to reach places

Noxious stimuli+strobing gives me an intense migraine and occasionally nausea. This stems from a concussive injury I suffered some years back - and my photosensitivity issues are very mild. Only one other recent game has actually given me issues, and it was ridiculously flashy.
I can only imagine how this would work on someone with more serious issues - and I've had survivors say in postgame that they hope they can give someone an actual seizure one day.
On the other hand, I can turn postgame off and private my Steam profile. One form of toxicity I can negate, one I can't.
I mean one you can but its not the way people would want to stop it and thats just switching roles. Same applies if one role is to stressful or boring
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
Imho toxic behaviour doesn't involve the kebabbing/camping/tunneling/tbagging/clicking, and does involve harassment, slur usage, and other side behaviours like breaking in-game rules of conduct.
All of the above can stay in the game because they aren't toxic (though they aren't fun either, so that's an argument for removal and compensation) except flashlight clicking, which poses a serious photosensitivity threat and as such should be removed or the game given a photosensitivity warning
Completely agree
-
@HexDaddyissues said:
i think if the killer tunnels, face camps or babysits, they're fully deserving of all flashlight spam, t bagging what have you.
Like wise, if a survivor is a douche right off the bat and only exists to piss off the killer, they are deserving of alll tunneling, babysitting etc that ensues.
karma, or whatever its called.
Fair.
-
@StarLost said:
Sigh.
Okay, let's dig in here. Going point by point.
- 'Toxic' is a subjective definition. I'd say that it refers to people doing things in the game with the only purpose being to upset or annoy other players.
- Yes, it can be effective as a tool, disrupting the mindset of the opposing side with the goal of making them miserable IRL so they play worse - but is this something we really want to support? Shouldn't we be looking at ways to make both sides have more fun, not less?
- Personally, it doesn't make me play worse. But it does annoy me, and make me enjoy the game less.
- Having a community of this nature stifles growth. I know that it makes it a harder sell to prospective new players in my circle of friends. League of Legends, on the other hand, was one of the pioneers of improving community behavior and it did brilliantly. I'm not saying that the slow (and at times backwards) growth of DbD can be attributed entirely to it's obnoxious community, but it definitely doesn't help.
- There isn't much difference between spamming your flashlight to upset the killer or sending them a nasty message after the game to upset the killer. In both situations your goal is to make life unpleasant for another player.
Obviously, some people can be oversensitive. But I come from a sports/martial arts background and I can tell you - if you refuse to shake hands with your opponent before the game (or even after), you generally are looking at fines, possibly even disqualification.
There is a reason for this. Sports should be about skill. Not your ability to upset or irritate your opponent on a personal level. I don't see why competitive gaming should be any different.
I disagree with the statement of flashlight clicking or a message. A message you can say kyf or as a flashlight it just gives an annoying clicking sound. Yes it makes the game less pleasant but these two can not be compared in that sense
-

Yeah it's a weird situation but as some people are having health issues it should be top priority figuring something out.
I mean they could run light born for the time being. or give the same effect of flashbangs but you know not instantly
-
@Chaos999 said:
Soooo.... How would you feel about taking the last survivor to the hatch, dropping him, closing the hatch in front of him and then proceed to hook him?
You know, just asking. Out of curiosity
Pretty funny actually. This has happened to me before as well. After all it is just a game. Shouldn't let it sour your mood.
-
@MonsterInMyMind said:
I don't see any of this as toxic however I do think something needs to be done about Flashlights as some people have reported actual health issues happening due to the click spam. Respectfully they do need to address that to be totally honest that is a huge no no in gaming. They could add the option where you can no longer see the beam and just the light turn on in the center of the flashlight.
Though wouldnt that sorta be like lightborn. Just seein the beam. I guess they shouldnt be able to see the light till after there blind but then I feel like that could be used as an advantage. I dont know

Yeah but the op asked what I would do if I became a dev, and I'd go for the long term fix.
I know the long term fix would be ideal but the possibility of it really happening anytime soon are unlikely. Yes please give your ideas but I have my reasons as to why I limit mine.
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
Not punish SWF at all, instead massively buff solos to SWF level, rework related perks, fix MM, and massively buff killers and nerf maps across the board. More effort, a better and more fun solution for more long term fixes.
I suggested a quick fix as its more realistic and possible to be done because lets be honest. The devs are going to be very slow an adding this so my reasoning is a short term one that could help killers more so than not.

No BP, no indicators only put em all on the same bag.
Add these:
-Each survivor have a colour Green,red blue and violet for example.
-All survivors have their entity claws like when u are an obsession.When you are in chase entity claws will appear.
-Survivors can ping his location by pressing a key like when you use a map.(rework that map add on).So a green ping mean that survivor is there if there is a gen next to him means a gen is there.
-When you are repaiiring a gen indicator appear over you.
-Give kindred basekit.
-Add a totem counter.
Buff killers according this.As surv doesnt want to stay longer make loops shorter or buff speed of killers and shrink maps.
Your welcome devs! Ive saved your game and it was only 1 min writing.
I feel as though the problem is more complicated than this and they've already mentioned buffing solo que. So what you've suggested is something that has already been said. What I was trying to get at is swf and not so much at solo que. To me I feel as though there own problem

Hey, man, I wouldn't complain. I love the Basement so much I apparently type it out as a proper noun. I just imagine it would be very, very strong if you ever got a snowball going.
If you think about it thats about the same for any other scrouge hook tbh
-
@danielmaster87 said:
Even if it did happen, there would be way too many bad takes influencing it. You still have people saying Wraith, BBQ, and Spine Chill are OP.
True lol
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
Eh, that sounds a bit overpowered. I would rather broken hooks respawn the scourge on a different random hook than making the Basement a 4 way scourge.
How so getting a survivor to basement cant be guaranteed every game. It should reward the killer for sticking them in basement. Though your idea is solid I wont lie

Start it off small at first. 5%. That's 1/4 of Thanataphobia's full power, which is nothing, but at the same time it's something.
Again doing something like this could be unfair to other swf groups which are just trying to have fun.
-
@danielmaster87 said:
The easy way out is to just give SWF a gen speed debuff. Killers get nerfed the easy way out all the time, so this seems fair to me.
The thing is what would the gen speed be reduced by

Freddy: everyone starts asleep and can’t wake up for 2 mins. No alarm clocks spawn and failed skill checks don’t work for that duration
Woah. Are you trying to break the game, brother? That is absurd. Do we really want more survivors quitting the game?
These are just suggestions. Something to make killers lives a little bit easier at the beginning sense we all know how it feels when three gens get popped in your first chase
-
@Tsulan said:

Its hard to explain. But the players sweat more during those kind of events. So the mmr doesn´t really apply here. Since the rest of the week would play out normally. The mmr wouldn´t have time to adapt.
There are better ways to reduce the grind. Starting from removing the perk tiers, over removing the million bloodpoint limit, to give us the possibility to "refund" addons/offerings that we are not using, and removing the 8k point limit per category.
My main reason as to why I wanted a bp weekend is this. If I remember the math I did not to long ago. Its about 10,000,000 million plus bp to get a survivor for example to lvl1 all the way to p3 lvl 50 if not more bp.

@KerJuice said:
I think the problem lies in how DBD is designed- around gens. What are the survivors going to do during this early game collapse? They’re just going to hide. Killers already hate immersion and find it boring.
‘The only thing I can think of is giving every killer a version of it that suits to their power or add-ons.
For Legion, everyone has to mend to full health at the start.
Doctor: everyone starts in Tier 3 madness screaming and need to snap out of it
Pig: Amanda’s letter is now base. Everyone starts with a trap on their head, Pig can still carry her usual traps but she can NEVER see the aura of the boxes. Not even with add-ons.
Freddy: everyone starts asleep and can’t wake up for 2 mins. No alarm clocks spawn and failed skill checks don’t work for that duration
Artist: Crows on every gen for the first two mins and flock to you if you get too close. You don’t even have to tap the gen to get swarmed. Either commit or mind your distance.
Plague & Nemesis: survivors always start infected. Nemesis should spawn with 4 more vaccine boxes though, to be fair
Pinhead: chain hunt already in progress at the start. Survivors spawn in with 3 chains attached to them. Pinhead can NOT solve or hear the box for the first two mins of the trial. Box will move to other side of map following Pyramid Head’s torment cage rules if an eagle eyed Pinhead gets too close to the lament box
Huntress: doesn’t hum for the first two minutes of the trial
Those are just a few examples I came up with. Idk man- just spitballin.
They sound great but Im most curious about stealth killers though
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
No, I prefer to wait a year for their solution to the problem rather than addressing the grind now, multiple updates after they acknowledged it was a problem.
hm Personally I just want something to ease up the grind as they will most likely not give us a direct solution to this problem.

@FilthyLegionMain said:
Legion's getting one so I'm all set on the killer rework front. I needed a reason to play him again.
I see that you chose map rework any you have in mind. Also I am aware of this I just mean in genral for more killers
-
@Tsulan said:
Yes and no. While yes, this would reduce the grind. It would also attract the sweaty players. Many veterans avoid blood events, because they are a sweat fest.
I mean this would be every weekend which is around the time when dbd has its most players. So the sweaty players would kind of be balanced with the casual. Also if MMR worked this especially wouldn't be a problem as the sweats would against the sweats

Yeah it would be like boons not having a range and being map wide instead.
Blanket changes like the one suggested arent how the perks are balanced.
I will say it is very infuriating when you bring a Scourge Hook perk and the 4 hooks are in a corner of the map with nothing. They should be evenly spread out at the least...
I would think so too. On top of that I feel like its spawn rate chance should be increased to Jungle gyms, Near Shack, Main building, and one in the middle if one of the things I mentioned didnt spawn there

It's a good idea, because all hooks should be changed to scourge hooks when you're using one of those perks. Anyone who disagrees is conceding that when killers equip a scourge hook perk, they should only get to use it part of the time. That seems like entitlement to me.

Trust me I know the feeling. I think we all have had our fair share of swfs and bad games.
-
@danielmaster87 said:
Because "we just didn't like it", or in other words, gotta appease those survivors and not do this very good idea because it'll benefit only the killer.
The thing is I think thats a bad reason. I could understand it if it had to do something with balancing but sense its not well like just seems like a bad reason. Its just like mmr. No one wanted or "like" but we have to deal with it so early game collapse should still be on the table imo

Well, people who've been playing for years should only match with people who've been playing for years, otherwise it's noobstomping and extremely bad experience of opponent team.
Thats what I think but sometimes players dont pick up skills as quickly as others. This is easier for the players with thousands of hours but what of those with only 10 hours or more. Sometimes people will understand the mechanics quickly sometimes they wont get for hours on end

I suggested the BP reward system for every extra SWF a year ago, and someone actually got upset with me and flamed me for it. He was legit upset that the killer would be compensated for his troubles. I don’t remember who that was. I hope he sees this lmao.

Eh most people are just gonna dodge the lobby. And you can kind of tell if it’s a swf or not. Same usernames, swf. Flashlights, swf. In PlayStation you can look up someone profile and see how many people they are playing with. Idk how it is on other platforms
True but Im not gonna lie to I've had some games where me and my team had the smallest amount of team work and were accused of being a sweaty swf. So reall it all depends plus there are times where an entire lobby can be on the same console regardless of cross play. Also I didnt suggest nerfs to a swf is because if we nerf a swf because of how they can play then what of the ones that only play this game casually
