  • Had a survivor tell me I must like to hit air because I missed so much. Nevermind that I got a 3K, and killed them. Then they started talking crap about their teammate being 'bad' and that's the only reason I won. I saw it happen to Otz later (he also killed the person who said it to him iirc) and wondered what is up with survivors like that.

  • Killer TagTeam vs 4 survivors.

Two Killers enter. One remains in GHOST mode (In ghost mode, Killers can kick generators, break pallets, break breakable walls, and see survivors) while the other is in Normal Mode. Whenever a killer hooks someone, they TAG OUT and the other killer becomes the normal killer, and the killer that got the hook becomes the Ghost.

lmao i stood still debating on whether i should dc or not, which is basically a 50/50 in this game now

Ahh yes, disconnect because you got outplayed. Totally alpha move.

  • Those weren't infinites. The survivor merely played them well. (in one case you literally stood still for 5 seconds trying to mindgame someone that had long left. Huntress is a 110 killer. It's going to take her a long time to catch up on loops like that without using your ability. But that's what your hatchets are for.

You should absolutely get fewer points if your opponent defeats you, regardless of the strategy they used. That's one of the consequences of losing.

Is a 3-man escape really a loss? People keep saying that "Your teammates will get out if you are being camped" as a defense. We keep saying "It's a team game" then also saying that you lose if you die.

And for that matter is a 4-man escape, 0 hooks, also a loss? Or what about killing all 4?

  • Yep. It's why Resurgence isn't really a great perk. Maximum of two uses per game, and it can be made useless if you have to take a hit with BT. Could've been a really interesting anti-tunnel perk. Not sure how they could FAIRLY buff it.

  • The current ranking system is dumb on both sides.

If nobody gets hooked, or you're the only one to get hooked because the killer camps you or they tunnel you (even if it costs them 5 gens!) you lose out on so many points in the benevolent and unbroken category.

If you kill survivors too fast, or they kill themselves on hook, you get punished for it.

There really should be a better system.

  • I think tru is wrong that you can balance the game toward the top 1%. You simply can't. There's WAY too much of a gap between 4 random solo players and 4 coordinated players with a specific plan, communication, stretched res, and every advantage they can possibly get. Just can't be done. Even if you gave everyone comms, it wouldn't be near the same level because it's still 4 random people on the internet.

  • My cousin kept telling me about the game, but I couldn't play because my internet was garbage and I wasn't going to pay for Playstation Online when my internet was 2 mbps.

Then one day, I went to visit and they asked me to give it a try. I think I was Kate against a Huntress. (This was December 2019). They explained things like scratchmarks and noises and the killer's heartbeat. I spent most of my first match hiding in a locker against a huntress until the hum went away. I don't think I lasted more than twenty seconds in chase and died on my first hook.

After that, I found out the game was on Switch, and I already paid for Nintendo's online subscription. The price was more reasonable for my absolutely garbage internet. So I decided I'd give it a try. My first game as Dwight didn't go very well. Lerys against a Spirit. I said to myself "Playing Survivor sucks, I'm just going to play killer." So I played Spirit, had no idea how her power worked, got walked all over. Then I tried Nurse next. If you want to get an idea of what Nurse is like on Switch, go watch Ardetha's video. And keep in mind I was a baby nurse at the time! I had no idea I was slower than survivors while walking. So you can just imagine how that match went. (Probably the single worst played game of DBD ever.)

After that, I didn't play much of DBD until my cousin got the game for Switch. That meant we could play, and they'd save me from the hook when my teammates wouldn't. They'd bring in perks like BT (playing Bill, obviously) and I started having a lot more fun. Decided to buy some chapters. Stranger Things was first. (Originally a Nancy Main!) That's when I really got into the game. Started learning it, going to the forums, discovering streamers, and figuring out just what this thing called 'looping' is. I've since moved on from the Switch version to the PS5 version. And I've upgraded my internet from 2 mbps to 200 mbps.

  • Dear Trappers;

    YOU GET:

Me stepping in the same trap twice

    I GET:

You come to the generator with the red herring failed skill check twice within 30 seconds.

  • A lot of challenges are basically: "PRAY PEOPLE ARE UP FOR FARMING"

  • Love this idea. Sadly, the devs will never do it. They don't care about the grind.

  • Dead Hard requires timing to use properly. You can't just press a button, and then magically get away from the killer. Go ahead, try it as survivor. Just press e randomly, without any forethought or planning, and see how far it gets you.

  • Yeah, Devs just listen to Otz. That's why Trapper has 2 traps as base. Oh wait...

  • I like the idea of it, but it could use another effect tbqh. 50% heal is great.. until you realize that a BT hit will negate that 50%. Or just going down if the killer tunnels you straight off the hook. It can be useful in situations, but I'm not sure its worth a perk slot as a two-time use perk.

  • I'm on PS5 and it was like 700 MB for me I think?

  • @PyroDude said:

I didn't see anything about nemesis giving survivors a speed boost when infecting them.

I was hoping they would change that in this patch

This wasn't a balance patch. It was a quick patch to fix as many bugs as they could.

  • Saying "Press E to outplay" sounds clever, until you realize we're all playing a video game and that anything you do to outplay the other side is literally pressing a button or some buttons.

Imagine complaining because it takes time to get every available thing in the game to max. Hilarious.

Imagine complaining about people complaining because you don't personally have a problem with what they have a problem with.

  • The grind being 'optional' does not excuse how excessive it is. Not sure why people bring up this pointless argument, acting as if it solves things.

Hey! We don't need to buff Trapper! Playing him is optional.

  • No, my ping has been a consistent 30-ish. I presume you've tested your internet connection. Might be people in your area aren't playing when you play because there's been a lot of issues lately. idk.

  • @Purgatorian said:

Only if you had a solo only option. SWF can be a pain with the perks I like to use, don't want to face them with useless perks.

That been said though, seeing streamers use perk roulette did make me want to see that system implemented.

There could be daily challenges designed for this mode only to help get more bp.

Yeah, but with SWF they can't pick their perks either. So they might not get an exhaustion perk. They might even get No Mither. They also wouldn't have flashlights/toolboxes/keys (unless found in trial, and they couldn't bring Plunderers)

  • Tunneling:

Tunnel Town - Nemesis (Only if you're playing Jill), Pig, Spirit

Highly Likley to Tunnel - Hag, Trickster, Huntress, Pyramid Head, Deathslinger, Oni, Leatherface, Nurse, Twins

Moderately Likely to tunnel - Clown, Wraith, Myers, Demogorgon, Ghostface, Blight

Probably won't tunnel - Doctor, Trapper, Billy, Freddy, Plague, Nemesis (if you aren't playing Jill)

    Tunnel? What's that? - Legion

    Camping:

    Tent City - Leatherface, Twins

Very Campy - Billy, Myers, Doctor, Huntress, Pig, Ghostface, Deathslinger, Pyramid Head

Can Be A bit Campy - Wraith, Clown, Spirit, Plague, Demogorgon, Trickster, Nemesis

Probably doesn't own a Tent - Trapper, Freddy,

Has never had S'mores - Nurse, Hag, Legion, Oni, Blight

    Just my experience.

  • First match by myself was against a Spirit on Lerys. I could barely find any generators. Needless to say Deja Vu became my favorite perk for a bit. (I died at the exit gate because I had no idea where I was going, and didn't realize there was a second exit gate)

  • Alien would be pretty cool.

FNAF would be the only chapter I'd never buy except Jeepers Creepers (which the devs already said wouldn't happen)

    Evil Within I'm unfamiliar with.

Candyman would be 'okay', but he's not really iconic. I'd put the likes of The Fisherman and The Miner above him tbqh.

Pinhead would be awesome. But so would Jason Vorhees, Lawsuits!

Not sure Chucky would work in DBD.

  • I think they're pretty even, tbh.

I've had survivors teabag me at the exit gates, wait until the last second, and I've had survivors stay behind even when I refused to hook them so I'd get at least one kill. I've gotten salty messages from survivors, and I've gotten nice messages from them.

I've had killers hit me on hook and leave me slugged for 4 minutes instead of hooking me, and I've had killers give me the hatch. I don't really get messages from killers, but I'm on Playstation, so that's probably part of the reason why.

    All types play either side.

  • -Reduce speed buff for Nemesis Tentacle.

-Rework of Swamp map and Red Forest

-Trapper can carry two traps at basekit (Maybe by year 10!)

    -Key rework.

  • Goodbye Swamp Map. I'm swamp blind, and sick of it.

Chapter: The Twins chapter. Sorry to Dowsey and the three other Twins players out there. But I hate Twins with a passion. Victor is a demon spawn that should get kicked from reality.

Perk: Resilience. It's stupid that you can 99 a heal, and get all the benefits of resilience, with almost none of the risk.

Gameplay Mechanic: Perk tiers. I think ti'd allow more unique perks, and would reduce the grind fairly well.

  • I disagree. Use one vaccine at the very least if you're infected. Three hits to down you with the tentacle is much better than two.

  • Getting tunneled isn't fun, but sometimes a killer needs to tunnel. The game's simply not designed to juggle survivors in such a way that they get 12 hooks. Also survivors tunnel gens pretty hard, do you consider THAT toxic as well? If they're sitting on that gen after I hit them so they can finish it?

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2288026#Comment_2288026

    Maybe for you.

Fact is, if someone disconnects, the killer won´t get full stacks, no matter what he does. But survivors still can get 4 stacks.

If someone disconnects before their first hook, that means survivors are competing for a maximum of 4 unhooks. And if that person unhooked someone, then it's a maximum of 3 unhooks.

  • WGLF is WAY harder to get stacks for than BBQ. BBQ, you just need to hook each survivor once. You don't have to worry about another killer hooking a survivor. There should be more methods of getting stacks of WGLF. Don't see why anyone would have a problem with it.

  • Haven't seen the new map. Performance issues haven't effected me personally, but seeing they've effected a lot of people that really sucks. Hopefully they'll have a hotfix on Tuesday.

Content wise? Pretty good. Jill + Claire skin (even though it's not perfect), Leon + Chris Skin, + Nemesis. Pretty much my dream chapter. (Just need a Jill RE1 skin and a Rebecca skin)

Perks are pretty good. Blast Mine is a LOT of fun, and I've been using it to finish old archives. Flashbang is pretty fun too, though annoying as killer. But easily avoidable, once you realize they have it. Counterforce and Resurgance could use some slight buffs, I think. Counterforce is only usable twice, and basically a We'll Make It on yourself. I think it should be a little stronger, and it'd be a great anti-tunnel perk. Counterforce needs the aura to last a little longer, I think. Bite the Bullet is pretty 'eh', but has some uses. I'd like to see it buffed as well. Rookie Spirit I found hard to get use out of, because the killer simply wouldn't kick gens, but it's useful when there's Ruin. Lethal Pursuer is great. Absolutely destructive on high mobility killers, and useful for stealth killers too. Eruption is OKAY, but could probably use a slight buff. And Hysteria... I barely noticed when I played with it. Feel like it could use a buff too.

Overall, nice chapter. Too bad about all the other issues associated with it.

  • I get bad teammates all the time, but never anything like this.

To make a long story really, really short; play survivor, and I don't mean mess around for a day. Get up to green or purple at least.

Now ask yourself what you would do if you were in the survivor's shoes. Where would you hide? What route would you take? Check the spots you would hide, and see what options the survivor has available to them. Most loops can only be ran a certain way to be efficient. A lot of survivors will walk behind a wall to stay out of your vision so looking around isn't really that valuable. Looking behind you and randomly turning around is.

No really. Skim an area. Oops survivors not here tee hee. Then turn around sharply. Straight 180. I catch a lot of survivors like that because they'll come out of hiding to go back to what they were doing. For some reason killers never turn around when I vs. them. Ever.

Plus survivors are easy to track with map sense. When a survivor is at 60% or 20% on the hook at least one survivor will be en route, or if you have altruistic survivors they'll come at 90% or 40%. Make a note of who it is and you'll know where they're at. Gen jockey needs to be pressured but not hooked. They're usually defensive and don't like being out of position. If they are out of position, capitalize.

I don't like going after weak links but usually the spirit of Meg possesses at least one survivor. One of them will do something derpy that explains all conventional logic. When they fall down, make sure you're there to pick them up. They always need a helping hand.

I'm a Red Rank survivor. The problem is, I don't really hide much. Or if I do, it's never pre-planned. I never really have a pre-planned route, or if i do I end up never using it. I'm used to thinking on the fly. I almost never know what I'm going to do until about 2 seconds before I do it.

  • What else are they going to run? So many perks are absolutely worthless. And when they run something off meta they run into Stridor-Spirit with Mother-daughter ring and Ruin/Undying.

  • Blood Buffet please, with 5x BP! (okay, that might be a bit much. But it'd be pretty cool. Not just for the problems the game's having, but for the 5th anniversary. Which is why I chose 5x)

  • @Heartbound said:

I'm severely deaf and while I have gotten to Rank 1 as Killer, I do notice when I run noise suppressing perks like Iron Will and Technician etc the killers I vs as survivor do seem to act dumber. I have no idea what noises I'm missing but apparently they help a lot.

I have trouble playing as Spirit and rely on grass moving and intuition to figure out where the survivor is, but I do still manage to down people.

I'm immune to perks like Huntress Lullaby etc, and I think my difference in tracking people does throw a lot of survivors off since I'm not listening for breathing or whatever. I'm watching you run and plotting your route before you do.

I wouldn't mind subtitles though. Apparently hearing gives some of you superpowers.

Teach me your ways o' wise one. I can't for the life of me track survivors. It's my greatest weakness as a killer.

  • So basically just erase shack pallet from the game?

  • @Laluzi said:

I think the suggested time on the secondary objective is a little too steep - making survivors move across the map and spend totem cleansing time destroying 5 new objectives is pretty severe in a game where every second counts. I mean, I'd like more slowdown in this game, match speeds can be absurd, but this would turn already oppressive hex combos even more oppressive (see Ruin/Undying, and Devour Hope's sneak attack effect where survivors don't search for totems until they're in major danger.)

It meshes oddly with the real issue, which is that totem spawns are wildly inconsistent and range from out in the open/right next to survivor objectives, and Where's Waldo levels of diabolical stealth.

When a survivor spots your totem, it's basically done for. Only exception is if the survivor is a solo and you kill them before they can do it or show teammates. You can be guaranteed that as soon as they know where your totem is, they're going to head for it the instant you give them an opportunity. Adding another objective that has to be done adds a flat timer to its lifespan, but that doesn't account for whether this was as the camera was panning while the survivor loaded in, or at a healthy four minutes into the match, or as the killer was bearing down on the team with Devour Hope and nobody else is in a position to cleanse the last two statues across the map, a detour which is going to see those two teammates moried and likely you as well. And for solos especially, it could become very nasty in conjunction with an already well-hidden hex with an unignorable effect (DH, Ruin + Tinkerer)

I would tentatively be down for this as a perk a killer could bring, similar to ToTH or Undying for hex protection, but I'm not keen on it as a base mechanic. Maybe if these statues crumbled over time, like very slowly completing themselves and adding progress to their bar until they straight-up break at X minutes in. Hexes getting wrecked at the very start of the game is a problem, but hexes that last well into the game don't need additional protection.

I mean there's four survivors. Each destroys one, and it wouldn't take that much time.

  • I think it's fine. Ruin counters it pretty well (at least while it's up). And a killer may not even kick gens. (I did blind this poor huntress three times last night with them. No wonder she kept throwing hatchets at me after finally hooking me in end game. That or she was practicing, cause she missed a lot of shots)

  • My team always leaves me behind when they use a key to escape. Last night two Leons left my poor Jill behind against a trapper. Luckily I made it out because the Trapper checked the wrong exit gate first. But that still kinda sucked. Felt bad for Trapper, cause he had a good thing going. I think I've had a solo queue survivor save me maybe twice with their key. Every other time, I get left behind. So I'm okay with nerfing them.

  • Only played one match today so far, and it was a Basement Trapper. Poor guy probably just wanted some basement hooks, but most of us avoided the basement area and just did gens and got out. Barely managed to safety pip, but I got my Adept so I'm okay with that.

  • @Bonquiqui414 said:

It should have more tokens and if you’re next to another survivor it should block their auras too

No way to that later part.

  • New Franklin's is actually better than Old Franklin's I think, except against sigh Keys.

  • He could use some QoL buffs. Increase the hitbox size for the tentacle strike, reduce the speed boost from an infection strike (or increase duration of the hindered status effect) and maybe make Zombies a little smarter. (They should go toward Generators being worked on, for example)

  • Get the perks on a killer you like to play as, and feel comfortable with. I did it with Pig + Tampered Timer with a Midwich offering.

  • I wonder if it'd help if they'd make a slight 'black out' (where the screen turns black for the duration instead of white) effect for people facing issues.
