I love how people automatically assuke this entire post is about eruption even when I said I never used that perk or any gen kicking perk. I can say they will nerf it cause I've been playing this game for years, and if you pay attention to the current trend of updates you can clearly see most of the nerfs are for killer. People have been complaining for way too long about the killer gen kicking meta. Why would they touch eruption, and not touch call of brine, and overcharge. There no meta shake up happening for that to happen they would need to introduce or buff a perk. If they were intending to buff a perk they wouldn't have basically deleted pop/ruin/eruption. Three perks nobody use any more.
So, you mentioned 3 other meta regressions perks for no other reason, other than a feeling? If eruption hadn't been touched would you still fear those perks being nerfed? You're entire post I replied to originally, and the follow up response was CLEARLY because eruption got changedSo yes, it was a safe assumption..
I told you why I didn't think COB/overcharge would be touched. They have no reason to, they touched eruption because it was unhealthy. I'd be floored if they touched any other regression perk without buffing any others. If your prophecy comes true feel free to @ me. And you keep clinging onto me saying the meta shakeup when I said that's the only reason they'd touch those perks.
I've been playing this game for years too, and I must be playing a completely different game from you because killers clearly aren't the only ones being nerfed or their perks being nerfed.

If they nerf every slowdown then how exactly is that shacking up the meta lmfao 🤣 did you not even see how the new killer didn't even bring any usefull perks? I'll just wait here with baited breath for this huge meta shake up your expecting. Rofl 😂
Who said I was expecting a meta shakeup anytime soon? All I said, was "If they nerf any of those perks it's because they are going to switch up the meta again and it will happen on both sides". The key word being if. Plus, I think you are sort of overreacting and just assuming they would nerf every slowdown perk in the game until nothing is usable, which I think is a ridiculous thought.
I can honestly say, I never once used eruption since the buff (or any gen kick perks, because I don't kick gens) and I have done just fine.
-
I'm so sick of doomposting.
This argument falls apart when you realize bhvr is a business, this game is not a paid service, and they have to do things to get money to pay for servers and employees. Servers are so very expensive. If you want to blame something, like.. blame capitalism and not the devs? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's also like.. yeah, no kidding survivors can result in more sales cosmetics-wise, because there will need to be 4x survivors for every killer. Doesn't mean they balance around that lmao

Oh come on it's BHVR you know damn well the rest of the perk nerfs coming is for killer specially call of brine, and overcharge. Most likely pain res too why? Cause it basically regressed the same amount as eruption. If you pay attention to the most recent trend of updates the devs are doing they have some sort of vendetta against killers lately. I won't hold my breath that they won't touch the rest of the gen slowdown perks.
The difference between COB, pain res, and overcharge is that eruption was literally a busted perk. If they nerf any of those perks it's because they are going to switch up the meta again and it will happen on both sides. It's how we even got the gen kick meta, if you forgot.

the point is that solo queue doesnt vs swf, there is no point in bringing them closer together as they do not face off against eachother, its survivor vs killer

swf should be brought down to solo queue, not the other way around
To be completely frank, I completely, utterly, vehemently disagree with both of these things you just said, and nerfing swfs like that would actively kill the active player base. But I don't think anything I ever say to you will make you change your mind, based on your other posts I've seen you made around the forums, tbh.

The chat filter is still on (both on PTB and Live) which is why I'm confused. It's normal for it not to flag things in custom games, but it should most definitely hide things that are meant to be hidden on Live.
I've never had the chat filter work in customs or the pre-game lobby myself, or at least didn't notice it until about a month ago. Me and some friends tested it out and said things that definitely would have been censored in a real lobby/real post game chat. I didn't think it was a bug, it was a feature since it wasn't a pub match lol.
If you want I can try to test it out again though, and submit a bug report.

But knockout is not like Eruption, as an example. Eruption had a really strong effect that only SWF were able to counter. Knockout, on the other hand, is not really relevant to the game's overall balance. It has an already not that strong effect that works on solo as intended, but can be countered. Still, it doesn't work on SWF. If the perk is weak, make so it's effect doesn't affect anyone instead of just not affecting some doesn't seem a good way to go. So because there is a sinergy between two low tier niche perks (Knockout + Blood Warden) that happens to not work on SWF, than that sinergy shouldn't exist at all?
Still, I gave some suggestions of other possible buffs that affect SWF and solo alike.
I think we are mostly in agreement - I wasn't trying to compare it to eruption strength, though.
Knockout is a weird perk, because to me, it's sole purpose is to be purposefully anti-solo queue while not affecting swfs other than bad swfs, or swfs who aren't on comms. Weak or not, it's something that has to be kept in mind - same goes with the third seal (and I feel like I'm forgetting one other - that wasn't eruption).
But I was just also commenting on hiding the pickup from the HUD - which just is another way to affect only solo q and not swf, since the swf can just say I'm being carried. Otherwise, I'm fine with the other suggestion that affects both. But in general, though, I just want perks like this to be completely reworked to something else.
-
The point of the hud was to bring solo closer to swf - if you remove that it just becomes another solo q issue again while not affecting any swf. Tbh knockout itself is one of the few anti-soloq perks in the first place and I think we need less of those/rework them all in the first place to do something completely different, but that's just me.
-
I think killer is the only fun role in the game for me. I generally play 50/50, depends on the time of day and the season. Sometimes I wonder why I even play survivor though.
-
On the contrary I think ds and otr shouldn't be disabled at all, and I think basekit bt is fine after gens are done.
IMO if you didn't get any kills, without the intention of, say, using an end game build, you don't deserve the kill. Plus a good chunk of times you can force a hook trade.

DH is untouchable because the devs know they will lose a lot of survivor players (who supply most of the revenue) if they nerf it any further. The last “nerf” really was not a nerf at all, especially for decent players who can time it consistently (or the cheaters who use auto DH). It’s still a free second chance, no different than what it was before.
David's free, and yeah.. no one is going to stop playing survivor if dh gets nerfed (just like I don't buy anyone is quitting killer with the eruption nerf)

tbh most chances are, that someone who says "I don't need regression perks on m1 killer" plays on a low mmr. even from medium mmr when survivors learn to not be scared from the killer, gens can fly and fly fast even if you get down pretty reliably.
Two things:
A) I didn't say I didn't use any regression. I said I didn't run gen kick perks because I don't kick gens.
B) I don't know my mmr, you don't know your mmr, and you probably, yourself, are not high mmr.
-
Posts like this are so weird to me. Eruption is not the only good regression perk that was in the game, and you didn’t even need it to win as a m1 killer. I’m going to be honest, I don’t even use gen kick perks on any m1 killer… or any killer for that matter, and I literally do just fine in the majority of my matches.
Although, funnily enough, if people are face camping with dms/agi/pain res, they are wasting 3 perk slots on any survivor team that is actually in any way good.

I made the mistake of assuming because 1 dude in there read his data accurately and didn't lie about it in public that as a team they had a republic sort of decision making process.
I'm the ******.
Hope you come back soon. Its sad when fair minded people leave games.
I personally never cared that I got dead handed for distance back in the day. But that didn’t mean the perk wasn’t broken. Eruption IS broken and IS a problem, solely because of incapacitation, and the fact you could (still can with this nerf too) get hit with eruption working in a gen previously kicked ages ago that was at 0, and then you’d be out of the game for 25 seconds. Things can be broken, regardless of your fun in dodging it or not.

Oh, jesterkind, didn’t you know, all killers NEED to share the same opinion on everything? Especially dead hard?? /s
-
I play 50/50 and tbh I think it's fine
-
I don't kick gens as nurse tbh and this really won't make me want to still
-
Nurse's skill floor, being actually learning her mechanics and timing blinks, really isn't too difficult. Billy has the highest skill floor in the game, by miles.
Eruption is the only perk in the game I think is actually a real problem. I think some perks are slightly overturned, but I think eruption is the only one truly a problem.
I think the majority of people in this game are kinda not great players and their opinions on their skill are vastly boosted from where they think they are at.
My idea for solo queue and basekit survivor is quite radical and I bet a lot of people disagree with me - solo queue needs bond, empathy basekit and either a ping system that includes auras (ie 'the final gen is here btw'), alert and a sort of windows of opportunity type situation where if a pallet is thrown, a aura appears until broken. DS needs to be basekit, work twice, and the perk increases stun charge and work in endgame. Borrowed time completely basekit - the full 20 seconds, but collision removed, and the perk reworked into something else. OTR reworked into hiding only aura and scratch marks. After these things are done, killers are massively buffed accordingly, and anything that incentives tunneling or making that play efficient completely decimated. This also includes room for adding things to slow down the game. Maps will need to be completely reworked accordingly as well
Billy and slinger and spirit are completely fine after their respective nerfs and not even remotely close to being 'ruined". People are just bitter.
I'm glad Hawkins and demo are gone and new people can't play on that map or play demo.
People vastly overestimate how chill survivor is or can be.
People underrate looping as a skill that killers need or should have and it gets harder for a lot of people because of antiloop powers and zoning powers of new killers.
All killers are viable in their own way. Antiloop as we know it or not. At least in pubs. You can and will destroy most of your teams in pubs.

It's officially recognised and supported, though. Big things like intended perk effects are generally going to be accurate.
Doesn't really matter - it's still a wiki, the large majority has still been sourced via datamining and not provided to from bhvr itself. There has been cases where the perk effects were still wrong, that is why I said that in the first place.
edit - also all I’m even tryin to say is don’t look at the wiki blindly as fact and only as reference. You should be doing that with, say, Wikipedia too.

Uh huh yes please tell me how more how there's no skill gap here. Such a dumb thing to argue. Someone with over 1K hours playing the same character is going to better than me with two games under my belt with a killer that's not easy to play.
Never fails that the "time played has no correlation whatsoever to a player's ability" crowd is trampling each other to see how quickly they can opine with the same demonstrably false nonsense.
There is no other discipline, sport, or pastime where people argue this straight donkeybrain foolishness.
To add on to what GoodBoyKaru and Starlost said - think of it this way - let’s say the higher prestige survivors had dailies for other survivors and those survivors had only been prestiged to p1, you wouldn’t even bat an eye at the lobby. The outcome of that match would have been the same regardless - maybe you would have won, maybe they would be really good. It’s essentially just the system placing you regardless in your first x amount of matches.
anecdotally, I’m just a pretty average survivor. I dump a lot of go into my survivor main though and I get lobby dodged a bit, and I think it’s because of my prestige.
imo prestige just needs to be hidden, until after the match at least.
I get the frustration, I really do, learning huntress was a long and somewhat rough experience for me because there’s a lot of things with her base kit that takes a huge amount of time and practice (aimin, arcing, etc).

It's what the wiki writeup says, and given that the information in the wiki is official, if it's not, then the perk isn't working as it's supposed to.
Just want to point out the wiki is not official. A lot of it is stuff that has been data mined, and every so often you’ll find completely inaccurate things on it

You can get to a certain point via regular matches. That's a good place to start. Try to get to a point where you're winning the vast majority of your games on killers you're comfortable with, and do it with green or lower add ons (there's a reason for this).
But you eventually reach a point where the games don't get any more difficult. At least not with any consistency. DbD matchmaking isn't competitive at all. And at a certain point, you will not continue to improve by playing public matches.
If you really want to try DbD at MMR 9000, you can join a comp server (there are many) and try to get some scrims. It's like being back at 300 hours again at first. You will get destroyed for a bit, especially until you get used to the game speed and tracking. Players don't announce themselves for chases. 7 stages on an M1 killer is considered a good result with limited survivor loadouts. And you'll never ever feel like you've been gen rushed in a regular matched again, which is a plus.
1v1s are another fantastic tool for sharpening your mechanics. You'll improve more in 30 minutes of 1v1s with a killer than you will in weeks of playing games with them. Especially if you're facing a really good survivor.
Watching Otz and content creators can help, but their content is more geared towards killers in the learning phase, not the fine-tuning phase. I'd suggest checking out the DbDLeague youtube channel. It's a good reminder that skill is a very relative thing. It's an invite-only league. Everyone is proven or has references. But players on either side can look completely out of their depth even in that setting.
To address some of your points:
Reactions and reflexes can help, but they're not the end-all-be-all. It depends on how far you want to go. I'm in my mid-30s and Nurse is a killer I can't really play competitively against better teams. I have too much trouble with the survivor movement. But you'll still be fine on M1s. They're much more macro-based at a high level. And you're fine regardless if you're just sticking to public matches.
Regarding game mechanics, please watch some DbDLeague. I still pick up on things from those players. I learned you can't body block a Ghostface because he has no collision while stalking.
The math thing, yes and no. You need to understand or get a feel for how far along gens are relative to hook timers. That comes with practice and you don't need hard numbers.
Do you have any resources on where to maybe find comp servers? I know tofu has scrim stuff, but I feel like that is a bit different than actually joining a team.
I don't think I'm 100% at that point yet, but I don't really ever feel challenged in my pub matches anymore on my mains and now I'm just bored/dreading playing them, and right now kind of jumping around killers to find what else interests me.

This one right here - I have a hard time understanding why that is relevant to the person you replied to. I just wanted to clarify that is what you were referring to. It was reffering to, that people what are playing that most of the time are very low MMR. Which is most of the time displayed by their knowladges about the game. Like there was one guy who was stillargumenting that Eruption is strong, but when he described that perk you could see that he was describing Scourge Pain Resonance. And on top of that they claim about them selfs that they are highest MMR they never lost as killer and killer is easy etc etc. They have 4k every time they play killers and they never escaped as a survivor. Yet most of the time its not true at all.
And YES. You can easily guess if your MMR is low or mid or high. Watch top streamers and their top level gameplay and compare it what you see in your games. What Tru3 has in his games as Survivors I have in my Survivor games as teammates. Did you watched that video? You totally ignored that video, am I right? Thats how average high level survivor gameplay looks like when you get there. And there is killer almost desperate and try to tunnel, but at this levels are loopers you can´t imagine. Sometimes I´m just standing and watching chase from my perspective. How he is able to lead killer to jungle gyms and more. Killers are leaving chases a lot. They are multitasking many things at once, but when you leave one good looper you have to hope that another one will not be the same or bigger level. And since then they can easily lead you its easy to the others to do their objectives. 2 people are more than enough to do gens quickly as hell with Prove Thyself.
I really would like to know what you think about video I presented at my post. Because you completely avoided to talk about it. Why is that? In that video you can see level of gameplay what is average for many high skilled survivors.
I touched on it without saying it was specifically about that, because this general rule applys.
If a killer is being led on a 2-5 gen chase, that tells me immediately that either their mmr is really boosted, they are bad at chase or they massively lack game sense. Knowing when to drop a chase as a killer is so important when playing and I feel like a lot of people feel like they have to commit to it when in reality they are just throwing.
The knight was led on a 3 gen chase by the ace. He downed the zarina finally who was bodyblocking for the ace and noed activated. He should have dropped the chase. Ages ago. When he noticed gens were going. The feng even was grouping up with tru3. She could have also pressured other gens too. That is clearly a game sense and skill issue in that video from the knight. If you pressure only one survivor, of course gens are going to be done.
That match could have been completely winnable. Most matches are winnable. You skill in chase as a killer really matters too. It's not just survivors looping, your skill matters too, and I'm tired of people saying it doesn't.
And two people on a gen with pts really doesn't shave off that much time - what was it, like 6-8 seconds?
It was reffering to, that people what are playing that most of the time are very low MMR.
The majority of the players of this game are mid-mmr. There are very few people in high mmr. I don't have the chart handy but I believe.. peanits(?) posted it. This is the reality. The issue truly is hitting the mmr soft cap and you are getting survivors you, at your current level, can't seem to win at.

"Are you implying killers should 4k every match?"
- Can you tell me, please, what sentence in my post made you think that I´m implying that?
"You can win the majority of your matches and lose some, and it doesn't really change what they said."
- Because most of the time its people who are at low MMR. Me as a survivor I have escape ratio much higher than before in SoloQ and even before HUD changes it was easy. Survivors will lose only if they are bad at looping so they can be tunneled out of the game early and even then its start to be challange. Not impossible. Challange. In 3 people. At this video you can see how it looks like when survivors know what they´re doing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lONHBIhvn9o This is my experience with Survivor plays most of the time. We lose if we are ineffective on gens. And on my level its rare to see players messing around and not doing gens while one of us is being chased. We played against 4000 hours Legacy Billy. He was probably best Billy I´ve ever seen. Even I cannot do that consistent curves like him. He probably never did single curve wrong. He was amazing. Yet he was able to get only ONE kill. And he was playing very good. TOP Billy full Legacy skinn and his skill was tremendous. Yet still not enough against us. With all info we had we could win easily. And his pressuring and gen patrolling was really really good. Still not enough. All I needed is Prove Thyself, Bond, Windows of Oportunity and Kindred. For SoloQ its almost like cheating. :D Auras of killers, other´s survivors and more. With new HUD? Its really chill to play survivor. I can ven play music while playing Survivor.
you never lost a single match and for sure you have 4k every single time, right?
This one right here - I have a hard time understanding why that is relevant to the person you replied to. I just wanted to clarify that is what you were referring to.
Survivors lose for multiple reasons, and so do killers. Looping is only one aspect, and it heavily depends on your teammates too. That being said, if I'm being chased and no one is touching gens, this chase meant nothing.
Again, you literally can't know if you are high mmr or not on survivor OR killer - I get bad teammates at night but during the day I get good ones. The only time it's easy to tell is if you have legitimately brand new players on the team, because they play.. a certain way.
Let me be blunt, myself, and many other billy mains play for curves because that's what's fun and we don't care if we win or lose. This really isn't the argument you think it is. I still win most of my matches - to be honest people who know how to counter a double engravings billy are so far apart it's almost not even fun to play him anymore. But do you not think he could have gotten that 4k if he tried harder? He was probably just focused on chilling and landing curves and not caring about kills.
I love when people say the music thing too, because I barely focus on game audio when I play as killer, I listen to music for the most part - I track with my eyes 95% of the time barring looking for hatch. I still win the majority of my games.

And for sure,as always when I see that kind of post, you never lost a single match and for sure you have 4k every single time, right? That displays what your MMR is. I can have 50 killstreak even with Hag after I low my MMR enough. Does it mean that Hag is overpowered and need nerf? No.
I'm not who you replied to, but I have a similar experience to who you are replying to. But I'm not really sure what you are trying to say here. Are you implying killers should 4k every match? You can win the majority of your matches and lose some, and it doesn't really change what they said.
It also doesn't "display your mmr", because mmr is completely hidden in the first place. You might be at the cap, you might be high mmr (but improbable), or the system just expanded to high mmr survivors..

According the wikipedia "Cheating in online games is the subversion of the rules or mechanics of online video games to gain an unfair advantage over other players, generally with the use of third-party software."
Who say its not cheat? The company who earn cash from it or who uses it ...
i can say many many many many times wall-hack isnt cheat, aimbot isnt cheat; however this doesnt make it right!

There no comms in game mechanics? if 3nd party programs allowed for play, why not i use wallhack? i prefer see killer/survivor than hear it from others thats same?
If it's in the rules, it's fair game. They explicitly say comms is not cheating, and have multiple times INCLUDING on the rule page. Whereas, wallhacks and aimbots fall under the "kind of unfair advantage that wasn’t intended by the game.".

The thing about Huntress is, Eruption is terrible on her. You don't have time being 110 to kick gens. So she is double screwed by the current Erup/DH meta.
Yeah, tell that to my solo team last week with a huntress that had jolt, cob, eruption and overcharge and missed all 80% of her hatchets, and yet, they all died at 5 gens.

According the wikipedia "Cheating in online games is the subversion of the rules or mechanics of online video games to gain an unfair advantage over other players, generally with the use of third-party software."
Who say its not cheat? The company who earn cash from it or who uses it ...
i can say many many many many times wall-hack isnt cheat, aimbot isnt cheat; however this doesnt make it right!!!
You even said it yourself right there - cheating is the "subversion of the rules or mechanics".
Rules for the game are here:
We do not ban for the use of communication apps.
When looking for this quote I even found this old thread you, yourself, made that got closed with several people telling you this, including a different mod : https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/349370/swf-and-discord
So, no, swf or comms are not cheating - it's not against the TOS. If comms were cheating, they would clearly be labeled in there as such.

You missed a few of them but they're more specific to killer powers. For example, cleansing against Plauge too early, healing too much against Legion, locking both lockers instead of 1 at a time against Dredgussy, and leading 3 specific killers to basement in chase
So I think the first two are tricky because those are sorta only relevant to good survivors and how the legion is playing. If you are a bad looper, or just don't really have any sort of game sense, not healing/cleansing can get you in a lot of trouble and out of the match real quick. Just my 2c.

In-game mechanics that are added because a significant proportion of the player is cheating is still cheating, in-game or not doesn't matter in that particular case. You are not supposed to know what the killer is doing at all times. SWFs tell eachother anyway through voice comms and thereby cheat and BHVR in their infinite stupidity went "well, well, instead of dealing with it properly removing SWFs as this clearly doesn't work for this game, lets just make it so that everyone is cheating because if everyone is cheating then no-one is cheating". You have no business knowing what is going on on the other side of the map.
Discord and comms aren't cheats. This has been said many many many many many times. I don't think there is really not much to comment on this further.

Nope, why would I joke about that?
How is the hud cheating?
In-game mechanics aren't cheating. What is your definition of cheating?

Do you really think they are going to even try and stop it? They just added a whole bunch of cheats to the game themselves but they call it a HUD...
You're joking, right?

Guess, discord is cheat for this game and isnt it allowed?
No, discord is not cheating nor is it against the rules.

I'll just reply with their own words here
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/347960/news-update-on-cheating
Beyond in-game improvements, we will be communicating on our progress against cheats more regularly as part of our Developer Updates and beyond. We want to keep you in the loop and share as much information as we safely can
And more there is a roadmap with several improvement. Now tell me, since that post and those promises have you have seen less cheating ?Because i do not, to be honest ( and many other have said the same ) the number of cheating is increasing. Have uou have been "in the loop" ? How many people have reported autodeadhard , killer bot and more ?Do you have seen any communication from BHVR after this post ? You know even just one simple "we are working on it" in the end of every patch note would be great.
To be honest they have come up with this post and promises ONLY because there was a public outbrust of several content creators, once they went silent, this question was put under the rug.
Even in their "seven years road map" there are no mention of this issue and yeah i was expecting at least a note on that roadmap. But no, nothing, zero at all
This, quite frankly, didn't answer either one of my questions. I asked you for _what proof you would accept_, and _what kind of update do you want_? It kind of seems like you don't even take bhvr at their word, so it kind of seems you will accept nothing bar you actually seeing their banned list in person yourself.
I haven't personally ran into OBVIOUS cheaters - teleporting across the map, insta-gens, etc in so very long. I have had suspected subtle cheats, obvious speedhackers and hacked cosmetics (like when the halloween tome happened and there was a piece of kate's outfit that hadn't been released yet in the second part of the event tome on the first week). I have gotten many cheaters banned, including my last few reports, but it's really not at a significant increase at all since the initial huge ban wave. Have YOU even actually seen the 'killer bots' since like, last april or may?
"I don't know if you're in the loop or not" but all that being said there is no way to fully stop cheaters. It's a constant battle between devs and the cheaters. One thing gets patched, the cheaters find another thing to exploit. This isn't a bhvr issue, btw, if you ever worked in any security job in software it's something that will always be a truth. *THIS IS WHY THEY CAN'T BE MORE DETAILED WHEN TALKING ABOUT CHEATERS*. You literally can't go into a lot of detail other than just vague stuff like this.

Dont feel so but developers care customer happiness, if majority likes play with cheat and few not, community will support the crowd one, you know sometimes, who pays more are right.
@Xristougenna said:
Dont worry, bhvr repeatly told that cheats are allowed.
Seriously, what are you talking about? When has bhvr said cheats are ok? Who likes playing with cheats or cheaters? The majority sure don't.

where and how exactly other than claiming they have done something ? Because i see a huge number of cheaters every day, i don't see a friendly report system, i don't see an update on the cheating issue. Yes they have said they have banned 10.000 people in few months but without a proof of that i'll not beleive that. When in three games in a row i see two people teleporting and one able to insta repairing gen well....no they are not doing anything at all to stop or limit cheaters
i don't see an update on the cheating issue. Yes they have said they have banned 10.000 people in few months but without a proof of that i'll not beleive that
Two things:
a) what update do you want? The nature of cheats prevent them from ever going into detail on things other than vague 'we are doing x to prevent cheats' in the patchnotes - and if they go into too much detail the general public wouldn't even understand it on a technical level and give more information to the cheaters. Vague = good when it comes to cheaters. You DON'T want the cheaters to get more information.
b) What proof would you even accept?
-
People do it, it's effects are maybe somewhat anecdotal, and maybe ineffective. We'll never know because mmr is invisible.
I wouldn't ever do this because going against people less experienced than me is boring. Like really boring. Which already happens sometimes if mmr is borked every so often.

I found more often than not that WGLF just meant that my ass was gonna get farmed off the hook by whoever was running it...
Yeah the amount of times I got farmed off hook and the person dead harded away from me so I took the agro and go down immediately was off the charts. And the funniest part is they don't even get the wglf token from it lmao.
Here's thing thing about bbq though, it never actually incentivized anything. You can camp and tunnel the first person out and still get all 4 stacks. 3v1 is immediately easier than a 4v1 so it's always been meta to tunnel and camp as needed.
Plus we're kind of forgetting no way out, which I think, is a even bigger incentive and stronger effect than bbq was. Imo anyways.
And another thing is a lot of killers felt like they HAD to put bbq on - old bp gain and bloodwebs we're actively worse enough to the point where it almost felt needed. I'm personally glad I don't feel obligated to run it anymore - tbh bp bonus + cakes/envelopes/pudding if you play at 100% is essentially the same result. And your bo goes further. I still have it on killers that really use it - nurse, huntress etc
Edit: forgot to enter the last part
But like on most killers bbq isn't even useful - I'd rather people not just limit themselves to 3 perks that synergize with their power + then just run bbq. Shrugs.
-
Us vs them was already really tiring but it feels extra tiring now that the new hub is out.
-
It's not, and killers really aren't because this is not the thing that makes swf strong.

This happened about a year or so ago when killer numbers began to decline due to the perceived imbalance between killer and survivor, stacked heavily in the survivors favour.
.The devs appear to favour survivor mains opinions as they have the numbers compared to killer mains.
I did notice during this time that survivor queue times were excruciatingly long where as playing as killer got you a match almost immediately. The updates last year went in some way to address the disparities but surprise surprise due to the bemoaning of the survivor community the tide has turned again, first Spirit got nerfed, now Nurse, guarantee Blight will be next and say goodbye to Eruption in its current form.
How many nerfs other than DS and DH have survivors received and as a further way to placate BT was made basekit, not to mention the now ludicrous amount of other second chance perks available to survivors along with the updated intel to solo Q which will be effectively turn 2 or 3 man swf almost as good as a four man plus the added intel to actual 4 man swf.
The devs have to remember not everyone is a full time pro at the game and the casual players I know who from time to time enjoyed playing killer have simply stopped as it is not a pleasant experience which feels tilted in the survivors favour to the point of frustration.
I have seen a steady rise in survivor queue times recently ,and more bonuses being available to killers, looks like we’re back on BHVRs game of ping pong trying to balance survivor and killer.
I understand the rationale of going with the numbers ie survivor community and the potential revenue from them in cosmetics etc,it makes good financial sense, however if things don’t improve I can see a real decline in killer players or rather the quality of killer players which in turn could negatively impact survivor numbers due to queue times and the lack of challenge in playing inept killers, i know we’ve been here before and it’s easy to volley off shots in the direction of the devs without providing any alternatives or solutions.I have had similar moans before on both sides of the game, and the usual response is we’ve heard it all before and the games still going. The brutal reality is the game is not getting any younger, the stranger things franchise lost ,the potential of Bubba going at some stage due to the new chainsaw massacre game, then who’s next.If something is not done soon to balance and reinvigorate this game we may be approaching the beginning of its death throws ,pardon the pun..
To be honest there has never been proof of the mass exodus as told by the dbd Bible - people being vocal on the forums about them 'leaving' (if any of them actually went through with it) has never been the best source and completely anecdotal at best. I disagree heavily with the post to be honest because the devs clearly do not value survivors more than killers. They literally can't. If they values survivors more than killer we'd not have current eruption, we'd have had the survivor hud years ago, etc. This game is more balanced than it was when I first played the game, and even than when I was when I started playing regularly. To say otherwise is completely said in bad faith.
There HAS to have more survivors than killers for this game to even function. I'm not sold on the cosmetics theory either - people play survivor because a) they enjoy the role more b) they want to play with friends c) they want to do dumb silly stuff or tome challenges or any combo and cosmetics is just a bonud. Personally, survivor is really boring to play for longer than like 4 matches in a row. Many cosmetics you can get for free, and like statements like that just completely ignore the fact that killers buy skins too. Of course the main reason for cosmetics to exist is sales, this is a company, you are essentially paying for this game through dlc and cosmetics - these pat for servers, employees. You don't pay a monthly fee, they need to make money somehow or the game would literally cease to exist.
And bubba is not leaving, and ST left because Netflix doesn't like free money.
-
imo if you are losing solely because gen progress is now being shown you might have been going to lose anyways. Stuff like this isn't even the reason why swf is 'strong'.
Anyways, can we stop the kneejerk reactions? I don't really know why this community can't get through their minds is they are gauging the effectiveness on this information and buffing killers accordingly? Which is, you know, literally what people have been trying to get bhvr to do for years.

After trying them both for a bit, I'm...actually having a lot more fun on Slinger, despite his terrible boring addons.
Out of curiosity, do you still think he is clunky and one dimensional? I'm glad you are enjoying slinger more though!
Tbh I think huntresses add-ons are 'boring' too - at least the ones worth using. Ie shiny pin, oak haft, babushka, capacity increases are all QOL stuff and most of her add-ons aren't really that good - ie the exhaustion, undetectable, etc add-ons.

Ok but it BBQ works that way in the dying state why does anyone want to use deerstalker>
You need to be outside the range for the hook for your aura to be shown on bbq, and deerstalker you don't, and doesn't rely on hooking someone and has no time limit to an aura. Say, I lose my slug - you aren't showing up on bbq, deerstalker I can still find you but bbq I might not if you are not in the range that bbq procs or I didn't look around fast enough and didn't see your aura.
edit: also, deerstalker is such a niche perk, and it's kinda rare you might even see it.

It use to be where if you healed a person to full health with another person you’d get full bar, now you don’t get that.
That sounds like a bug maybe? I see it every so often in my matches, including one earlier and it worked just fine - where they get unhooked and are broken and they heal at full health after 20s. But what you are talking about almost sorta sounds like solidarity and not renewal. To my knowledge, neither of these perks have actually changed at all since their release though.
edit: do you mean, like, a progress bar on the perk icon? I never used the perk outside of adept steve like 3 years ago, so I really don't remember how it looks like. if so - were you doubling up on a heal?
