Welcome in hell! Its quite hot down here ;-).
-
You bought the chapter, so you are free to play its character 1.000.000.000 times if you would like to do it.
And Xeno is NOT BROKEN, he is fine. But dont worry, Nerfs will come, because too many kids cry and want free wins instead of learning how to counter (which is damn easy btw.)

This past year it's been all the same.
A new ptb and from a 30 min reaction, bhvr quickly buffs some random stuff without considering the consequences. (Alien, Sadako, SM...)
But when something goes live, then bhvr goes to let's wait guys and we have to deal with it for months.
Why was Alien buffed? He was ok on ptb, who said that he was lacking?
You dont need to understand it, you have to accept or at least respect it. Alien is not overpowered, it is actually very balanced compared to the 3 killers before it, which needed huge buffs to be "ok".
Maybe Alien will receive small (!) changes, but overall its a very decent start after release.

Well, you've just proven my point that tunneling is not "more necessary than ever" if you don't care about winning or losing.
Once again you talk about me. I talk in general. If people want to 3-4K every single game, tunneling is the only way. We all know that.
The problem with High-MMR is, that both sides are tunneling. One side gen-rushs, because totems, chests etc. are nothing more than "sidequests", the other side kill-rushs. There is a reason why "comp. DBD" is this every single game. If you want to play competetive, you need to do this (on both sides).
Thats all I wanted to say with my post. I myself cant say this for me, because I throw games in the lobby when I use fun-builds instead of Meta for example.

I mean Nightlight is the Mos Eisley of sweatlords. Even then, how can you trust self-reports? All too many times there is the "about to go fight, I'll post the vid afterward -- got smashed, I ain't postin' that" mentality.
There is nothing in the current Survivor meta that makes it more necessary. There is plenty of reasons why it is pathetically easy. Anti-tunnel Endurance doesn't stack, DS may as well not exist, Killers have so much mobility they can pick their targets easier, and so on. Tunneling exists in excess right now, because anti-tunneling is absent.
If you had compared the stats on nightlight in september 2022 with the official stats BHVR shared with us, they were quite similar. But yes, they are no guarantee.
-
The changes for Sadako prove wrong. The devs wanted an average killrate of ~60%.
Now if we take a look at nightlight, Xeno has 57% Killrate, so Xeno is perfectly fine in terms of kills. I dont think we will see as much changes to him than to previous Knight, SM or Singularity.

Tunneling is not more necessary than ever. Plenty of Killers have proven that they can stomp Survivors without tunneling.
On the flipside, if high MMR is the nightmare that people say it is, wouldn't it be a good thing to lose games and lower your MMR?
And if certain Killers are weak as people say they are, wouldn't it be a good thing for them to continually get stomped? It may actually incentivize the devs to improve them rather than looking at their high killrate which was only acquired by camping and tunneling.
I dont talk about me, why do you suggest I should lower my MMR? This would suggest I should play bad on purpose or I should use several afk-games or whatever to keep losing. Is this the game-experience the other side, here the survivors, want?
I dont know what MMR I have and I dont care either, because it doesnt matter. Low MMR, High MMR, Rank, Grade, Prestige etc.
In the end you always receive the same Bloodpoints. Its always 3.000 for finishing a gen, 100 for breaking a breakable wall etc.
There is no reward for being High or Low or whatever.

We know how MMR works they explained it to us. Its a 4 way 1v1. If you die you lose MMR based on the killers MMR and yours. If you escape through the gates it goes up. If you jump through the hatch you don't move.
MMR feels bad because it favors quicker queues over match quality. Not only that but there appears to be only two tiers of MMR. You are either above or below the MMR cap. If you are above the cap you can match with just about anyone above it. If you are below you get the below people. Again we know MMR cap is a thing because they have mentioned it before.
The game tries to put you with people near your MMR but quickly falls apart with queue times and back filling being a thing. If you ever join a lobby where the killer leaves or other survivors leave. MMR sort of just went out the window.
It's not a great system, I think rank based was a lot more engaging and fun.
Sadly I never experienced the old system. I joined the game in Oct 2021 with 3.500h now. I guess old system was replaced shortly before this. I also never had the joy to play on Hawkins :-(

Tunneling was seen once in a while some years/months ago, today, tunneling right at the start in pretty much every trial.
- it is unbearable
- the game is clearly not designed around tunneling as there is literraly no good counter to it, especially with the anti-loop killers we get now
- it entirely kills the fun for the whole survivor team
I don't know how this major flaw has never been adressed for years but it has to go now.
Tunneling is only manageable in SWFs, every other survivors setup cannot deal with it at all.
If you look at the killrates on nightlight compared to the 60% average the devs wanted I can see why this happens more and more.
In the current survivor-meta tunneling is more necessary than ever.
-
Sometimes I escape, sometimes I do not.
It depends on
A) how good is my team
B) how good is the Xeno
Usually when I lose A) was bad - very bad.
When I play Xeno, everything is possible. I have teams which deny me more than 3 hooks and then I kill a lobby with 4 gens left. Both things possible (I dont use Gen-Perks, only Chase- and Infoperks)

@Biscuits said:
As survivor MMR is pushed lower and lower by everyone playing Xeno. If this keeps up, in a few weeks you won't be able to play any other killer without getting completely demolished. MMR inflation is real.
So you know how MMR works? Where do you get this information? Or is this just a prediction?

Have you tried fast vaulting with a female survivor ? It's literally the same thing as a medium vault now.
They didn't just revert the fast vault fix, they made them worst (for women, the male survivors still are bugged to go further so for them it's like the vaults were just reversed)
I heard about this and no, i only played male survs. However, if this issue is the case, I expect it to be fixed in 7.2.1 on tuesday.

"We have the same fast vaults just like years before the broken "new" ones came in, so I dont complain about this."
Nah, they are worse than before. There is not really any point in fast vaulting anymore, a medium vault and a fast vault have the same result.
thats wrong again, they do not.

surprise you don't rate skull merchant very highly.
we just ignore this Killer.
Xeno is A-Tier for me. I think next to Wesker. I would rate him Top4-7 for now.
Not enough for S-Tier, but definitely on Wesker-Level.
Xeno is definitely not D- or C-Tier. Some might argue he could be B-Tier, but no, he is way faster than Demogorgon or Nemesis, which are probably his "brothers" in terms of the family with the powers.
While Nemy needs 3 hits and Demo needs to break pallets instead of hitting the survs, Xeno get hits. However, you can deny his power or slow him down a bit with turrets. Nonetheless, I think Xeno is stronger than these two, not only because of the Map-Pressure-Tool, but also due to the fact his chase-power is way stronger.
The informations you could gather as Xeno inside the tunnels is awesome and a big big + compared to others.

The player base is split between casual solo q and everyone else. The devs choose everyone else.
No, the devs CANT balance around SoloQ. The result would be that SWFs would even more turn into God-Mode. The devs want (and need) to make improvements which close the gap.
For me, ingame Commandos ("Ill go for the rescue", "Im in chase", "Ill stick on gen", "Player X can you go") in text-form would help A LOT (without making SWF stronger).

and also how are they even remotley broken? Like ive hit so many people during fast vaults, and if your like going at a high speed vaulting at a high speed makes sense? Did u skip physics class....?
This is a GAME, nothing about physics bro. Also, I left school 20 years ago, so to answer your question, I might forget things.
-
This is just wrong.
We have the same fast vaults just like years before the broken "new" ones came in, so I dont complain about this.
And this one thing leads you to the conclusion, the devs wouldnt care about a part of the playerbase? A bit overreacting for me.
-
Xeno is far more balanced than Nurse, Blight, Spirit, Wesker or Artist.
I dont get how people cant counterplay this little dog, its so easy. My opponents lose their power every single time when I prepared my chase-route before I get chased.
-
Nowhere to hide is, in my opinion, the best perk on killer-side, because it has 0 cooldown

How about to put em close to loops instead to actually have a chance to make him m1
thats the way good survivors use them.

7 years is a long time.
At some point, BHVR will have to create DBD 2 with modern graphics and textures, some new game elements etc. But this day is not today.

I also really enjoy the strategy aspect in theory, but half the time I simply can't place the turrets where I want, and the movement speed is so slow it's not rare that I give up and just place them wherever when it finally turns blue.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3530925#Comment_3530925
I meant empty areas as in corner of the map where there's no obstacles, I try to place turrets in between loops or further behind tiles' long walls but most of the time I just can't and have to (very slowly) walk away where it's not so useful anymore to place it, and in turn to get value have to take weird pathing. I haven't gotten a lot of different maps though, so maybe I just got unlucky and it's not this bad, but placing turrets shouldn't be this difficult regardless of the map tbh.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3530996#Comment_3530996
Yes I forgot to mention dropping turrets, it's also frustrating. Allowing to place turrets absolutely everywhere would probably lead to some issues though, but the placement requirements should definitely be extended.
Yes the movement-speed while carrying a Turret feels a bit slow, but also realistic cause these things have some weight on it. The radius where to put them down could be decreased to make it easier to place them at more places tho.
-
A bad idea. Pick a Turret, carry him some meters away from the gen to cover the distance between gen and the next safe loop
-
I would love to see a new Skin for Amanda and, of course, her own chase-music.
Also: we need Hello Zepp for the RBTs.

What's the point of using a turret if Xeno can just come, using his tale to break it and having his power back instantly?
Also, his tail is fast enough to avoid, at least for new players
Turrets do multiple things:
1. They slow Xeno down
2. Xeno loses distance when breaking them
3. Xeno loses his ability and becomes a powerless M1-Killer if it does not destroy or avoid the turrets
4. Your View as killer is a bit harder
Its fine that good players can avoid losing the power and not being forced into playing a pure M1-Killer when survs just put a turret down.
-
I enjoy using them and strategyze my chase-route a lot.
The only issue I have is RPD, where you cant place them in the floors.
-
Xenomorph is a good killer, fun to play as and against. The Tail is not overpowered, you can dodge it pretty easily.

Quit tunneling on a brand new killer when it's 5 gens. This is supposed to be one of the only times we actually play chill to learn the new mechanics. I literally can't even play the game half the time anymore and I just wanna see the bleeping killer FOR BLEEPS SAKE
Dear Killers,
here is a free advice for you: DONT CARE ABOUT THE SURVIVOR-RULEBOOK.
-
I think it would be a good idea if Flamethrowers slow the killer to a 4.0m/s killer permanently when he hits the killer.
Patch it.
NOT
-
I play Xeno all the time when playing killer. But here and there I switch for one game to Oni/Slinger/Freddy/Wesker.
-
Yes... you need to wait till they fire at you to destroy them. I assume this is a bug.

Then don’t injure them. Use your insta-down ability. If survivors aren’t prioritizing healing it’s because it wastes more time than pushing gens. But the healing nerfs are what killers wanted. Now they must reap the consequences of their desire.
After Hook 1 they are always injured...
-
Bugfix-Patch next week should solve this problem I guess

The devs knew exactly how broken that perk would be, cmon. Now there is a reason to discuss the game etc., its all marketing.
They will nerf it at some point and bring in another broken thing in exchange. Marketing bro, marketing.

Did 10 sec BT solve the problem? I still keep hearing about people being tunneled. I even do it myself after counting to 10. Maybe it should be 15 sec? Or we'd just hit through it in that case?
60 sec 😉
-
Well.... Singularity is D-Tier. He has 42% Killrate on Nightlight for good reason. After the two archive-missions are done, I will never touch this failure ever again. I like the lore tho. But his power is just too weak. You have to work really hard to get infection and after that youll receive Hindered-Effect and Overclock-Mode is far too short to get value out. A lot of other killers have so much more out of their power.

@Ayodam said:

Don’t most of the m1 killers have insta-down abilities though? So if they’re using their powers correctly they don’t really proc MFT because they aren’t chasing injured survivors. They’re chasing healthy survivors who don’t have access to Made for This.
Even if this is the case and every M1-Killer which COULD do it with Ability or addon, it works only once, because survivors dont heal. Healing takes longer, being injured is no dangerous position thanks to Endurance everywhere and here the insta-down-strategy is demised.

It's such a sad state to be honest.
I used to really enjoy Trapper. Basement camping is super boring.
I'd wish they would revisit their old maps and see why they where good for Trapper and how the textures should he for a real buff to happen.
Just take a look at, once again, DBD-Mobile. So much grass everywhere. And for the sake of being a mobile-game, maps are looking great.
-
Finally... we have 3 weeks left for the Midchapter-PTB. Looking forward. Wish the would have the resources to do more Patches with Gameplay-Improvements. DBD-Mobile has so many options which should be added for the main game for example.
-
We should be grateful to finally having a 3rd S-Tier-Killer ;-)
-
This idea would lead into even more splitting between the good and the bad, especially the M1-Killers.
-
RBTs are fine as they are now. I personally would buff her Ambush. Make it faster, make it stronger (it can destroy pallets for example).
-
One more. Freddy, my friend, you are not forgotten.
At this point, I would be super happy if he gets....... SOMETHING.
-
Like: 3 weeks later, we have Midchapter-PTB
Dislike: nothing.

A year later with 5% basekit, people will ask for 10. Then progressively become basekit PGTW
Its not 2.5% is bad, its the Gen tap. Even if there is no losing progression, 2sec of startup animations is far better
Give survivors 2sec of startup animation would solve everything, cant Gen tap mid chase, extra 2sec to all action when you disturb them, 99% Gate become alot riskier.
Base-BT was buffed from 0 to 5 and then to 10sec. I cannot see the problem with 5% Gen-Regression. The 2sec-Startup-Animation is a really nice idea, this would solve this too.
-
Lets hope for some changes in the midchapter. I dont think we will see gameplay-changes before midchapter.

I have downloaded Medal to do this in the future. However, it only can do 2min witht the free option. Any good alternatives for recording a DBD-Match?

@Pulsar said:
I mean, if you really did chase someone for 5 minutes that is an error on your part.
Disturbed Ward's biggest issue is how large it is. It suffers from the Storehouse Syndrome where it has gens in far off corner pockets that you can't reasonably patrol and if you chase there you are gonna lose the game.
Nah I had 4 hooks at the end of the game. I mixed once, which obviously was a mistake, I should have tunneled from the start to secure or had a chance for a 2K at least.
