No.
As long as the match can end without somebody DCing even if the killer/survivors refuse doing anything it does not count as holding match hostage.
So if killer bodyblocks 1 survivor in corner and goes afk while other survivors are free it is not holding game hostage since survivors can do gens, trigger EGC and force end match.
but if killer bodyblocks the ONLY survivor in the trial in corner and goes afk while EGC is not triggered, then killer is holding match hostage because there is no way to end the match if killer remains afk

You ever consider survivors start running the powerful stuff because they run into killers who do? It's a cycle. Doesn't start or end with either side.
Once again, I'm not talking about the reasons they run that stuff.

I don't use DS, or BNPs or Styptics.
Still run into killers who proxy camp at 4 gens even after the first guy DC's.
It's not about running or not into people who using things like that.
It's about people who loudly demand other side not to play certain way and who don't want to change their playstyle aswell.

Better yet, just accept that all these things are in game, otherwise it would be violating the system. If the devs have implemented such things. It's legal to use. Don't whine about what's in game. 🤷♂️

It's not a discussion of whether or not something is strong or weak. It's a discussion of whether or not something functions like a regular M1 attack. Lethal Rush's attack does not.
Lethal rush attack does function like a basic attack with an exception of it being handicapped by 15 degree limit. In any other parameter (otherwise not being considered basic) it is a basic attack: it has same range as basic attack, it has same speed as basic attack, it has same animation as basic attack.
Like, I would've had no complaints if I could launch that attack for a huge distance like Oni's demon strike from Demon dash, but I'm forced into a castrated m1 which is mockingly called "special ability".

It also cannot be used until you bounce off something, and I am pretty sure it locks you into a lunge if you use it (i.e. can't just tap M1 for a quick swing like a regular M1).
Anyway it isn't that strong like Shred or Ambush not be a basic attack.
Once again, If SPIRIT who can move at insane speed and make a 3x longer lunge out of phase has basic attack, there's no adequate reason Blight shouldn't have a basic attack for bouncing.

I already mentioned the irregularity with Myers. That doesn't mean that Blight's doesn't make sense. If anything, it means that Myers's doesn't make sense. Blight's Lethal Rush lunge does NOT function like a normal M1 attack, so it should not be treated as a basic attack.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1611820#Comment_1611820
A Lethal Rush attack does not function the same as Wraith, Nurse, Hag, and Spirit because it is the only one that has different properties from a basic attack (a condition set on it in order to use it, restricted turning while using it, pretty sure you are locked into a lunge when you attack and can't just do a non-lunge attack). And Deathslinger's attack is still a basic attack as well; his power just inflicts a status condition if you manage to land a basic attack in conjunction with it.
It has the same range
Using it basically ends a rush as your speed drops
It doesn't apply any special effects
The only reason it cannot be called "basic" is because it has a handicapping limitation of 15 degrees which should've been gone on earlier stages of testing.

Blight's lethal rush isn't basic attack...or is it?
It is not, though it must be.

@Decarcassor said:
Lethal Rush work exactly like Wraith's Surprise Attack, Nurse's Lethal Blink (notice the name), Hag's Phantasm Attack and Spirit's Grudge. All killer who gain special mobility when using their power all arguably easier to control than the Blight. Even Nurse.
Hell even the Deathslinger Reeled In is treated as a basic attack and he get to inflict Deep Wounds!
All theses attacks with fancy scoring event names are performed with the attack button (M1) and can benefit from perks and status that trigger of basic attack.
The Blight's Lethal Rush is an attack that is performed with the attack button, that only deal a single health state of damage with no other effect and yet it is not a basic attack. For some reason. Seriously, if Nurse and Spirit can benefit from basic attack perks and effect such as the Exposed status why can't the Blight who has a much harder time hitting anyone with Lethal Rush ?
(I realize the same argument could be made for Pig's Ambush and Demogorgon's Shred. But wanted to try this short and focused on the Blight.)
Pig's ambush and Shred are stronger than normal lunge though - Pig has very long lunge and full control over it and demo can basically instantly pounce on survivor within 12 meters. It kinda makes sense why such attacks are deemed strong enough to be not basic. But that's definitely not Blight's case, especially if we remember his attack in rush is even weaker than normal attack as it is restricted by 15 degrees for some reason

Because its a hatchet. It isnt a regular weapon. It cant possibly count as a basic attack. How can huntress relate to slinger or spirit, who BOTH have nonlethal powers and rely on basic attacks to get hits? Once again, your argument is invalid.
Blight's power is technically nonlethal so what? Stop saying nonsense

Nurse has ONE add on to increase her speed and its #########. A literal nerf. She is SLOWER THAN SURVIVORS for christs sake. Huntress is 10 percent faster than them. Also if you play huntress optimally, you m1 survivors anyway, so she isnt related at all to this. Your entire argument is weak.
If you play Deathslinger/Spirit optimally you too M1 survivors w/o power, yet they have basic attack built in their power for whatever reason, but Huntress doesn't. Once again, you are wrong and your argument is invalid.

I'm repeating the truth, which you continue to ignore. Nurse is to slow to not always have basic attack. Blight isn't. So simple.
Nurse has addons to make her fast and please don't repeat the nonsense how weak are they.
Also, by your very logic, the huntress should be able to basic attack with hatchets since she is too slow to land normal m1 hits often enough which, as we see is not your case.
If you were saying truth, you would've had some real arguments which is not the case here, as repeating one and the same thing I already disproved above isn't an argument.

I'm not making a case over which is better or which is worse. I am only making a case over whether the rules of basic attack vs. non-basic attack is consistent or not.
By all possible regularities that could determine whether an attack is basic or not, Michael Myers should have not basic attack more than Blight. Yet we have what we have.
Basic attack system is ridiculous and makes zero sense.

Nurses power is different. She has no special attack, as with one, her basic attack is worthless. As blight, you can m1 and then use your power, and get the basic attack perk to activate. You don't seem to realize that blink attacks can't be a thing, or else nurse wouldnt even be capable of using those perks. Blight is 115% speed. You can m1 then use your power with him, where on nurse you can't. Thats why its not a basic attack. You don't, and shouldn't use your power all the time. But nurse has to, so using her power has to be basic. Its so simple that I can't believe you don't see it.
good luck, I'm not going to continue a conversation with a person who ignores anything that I say and keeps repeating the nonsense how "nurse is different".
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1611597#Comment_1611597
The only difference from normal lunge is handicapping 15 degrees limit and that's it.
There's also the fact that you can't use the attack until you've fulfilled certain conditions (bounced off something at least once).
Spirit just keeps a speed boost for a brief moment after she phases back in.
This all makes sense to me. From my point of view, the only instance where the rules for what is considered a basic attack and what isn't don't really hold up is with Michael Myers, since his lunge distances change depending on what tier EW he is in.
And...?
Once again, Blight has to fulfil a lot of conditions and deal with a lot of restriction to activate slightly worse m1 hit. Hitting survivors as Spirit is easier and has less restrictions.

Your point doesn't make sense either. Just because one killer has something doesnt mean another should.
In that case this is exactly what it should be.
Blight, compared to any other similar killer with fast mobility power or chasing power which ignores basic attack rule (Spirit, Nurse, Deathslinger), is worse than any of them in every single aspect apart from maybe traversing the map slightly faster. In chases however he is significantly worse and more skill demanding than any of these three killers, yet he is suffering from basic attack rule.
It makes zero sense for him to have the restrictions which these killers are somehow free of.

Blights power isn't meant for loops either. Its in between them.
So what? Tell me why is this a reason he cannot have basic attack from lethal rush, while Nurse can?
If you say anything like "tHiS iS dIfFeReNt blah-blah" I will ignore you because I'm tired of the self-contradicting nonsense you say.
-
@TAG said:
Blight's lunge while rushing does not function the same as a normal M1 lunge, to my understanding. Spirit's lunge while phasing still does.
Blight loses any momentum from lethal rush and performs his attack as if he made a normal m1 with 4.6 speed and not his 9.2 speed or else. The only difference from normal lunge is handicapping 15 degrees limit and that's it. His lunge from ability is basically weaker than his normal lunge.
Spirit on the other hand gets an extra lunge speed&distance when performing it out of phasing. Her lunge out of ability is stronger than her normal lunge.
Yet Spirit has basic attack and Blight doesn't. Stop acting like this makes sense, that's just sad.

She has one add-on like that that and it nerfs her. It is one of her worst add-ons. I'm a nurse main, and I think of her power as traversal. Thats why its a basic attack, because its a traversal power. Blinks have nothing to do with an attack.
And Blight's power is for traversal no more or less than Nurse's power. He also has much harder times hitting survivors with his power in chases, so once again, no reason he shouldn't be able to have basic attack from lethal rush, if nurse has basic attack from blinks.
Your point makes zero sense.

I don't think it should be base kit, as I slam off pallets a lot. It definitely shouldn't be iridescent, though. They should switch the aura reading one to iridescent, and the pallet slam to green.
Demogorgon got braking pallets as basekit as an addition to the ability which allows him to literally instantly damage any survivor within 12 meters range of him.
There's nothing wrong in allowing blight to break pallets with slam. If people are so afraid of Blight being OP because of that, he could break pallets only with lethal rush.

Nurse wouldn't be able to hit survivors without basic attacks, and not every killer should be at that SSSS+ tier level. Don't compare a perfectly fine killer to an unbalanced one like spirit.
So what? Nurse can still M1 survivors, it's just slightly harder to do. She also has addons to increase her movement speed.
Like I said, either devs should be consistent and make any attack coming from or after using powers like Nurse's not basic or admit that basic attack system is flawed and return one step back and use logic to consider attacks basic/not basic and not a flip of a coin.
-
@Exerlin said:
Deathslinger gets to slap a survivor with a basic attack after using his power. Blight does not. Both of them use the same animations for their respective basic and "in-power" attacks, but only Deathslinger's counts as a basic attack. It's dumb.
yeah, why they can't be consistent and make ANY attack which follows up a power not a basic attack. Not like I want that, but that could at least make sense, as current basic attack system is flawed.
-
It's funny that it's very likely that out of all blight feedback devs will take into account only this one because it calls out for unnecessary nerfs.

I mean he moves insanely fast and can hit player that would be insane if it had the ability to have the Cooldown lowered by Save or insta downs due to perks though you got to admit that atleast. Not hating on it just saying he could get abused with it being a basic attack and I think that is what they are worried about.
Spirit can do all that and she has basic attack.
If Blight cannot have basic attack, then it must be taken from Spirit and Nurse aswell.
-
@RizeAki said:
I mean it kinda makes sense though his power is more similar to legion then anything so in that standard I don’t feel like they will change it but it would be nice to have that use for things like Sloppy, STBFL, or his own perk Dragon’s Grip
Legion has full control and can vault pallets&windows.
Blight is forced to choose very specific paths to make hits and he is also heavily restricted in lunge&steering. There's no adequate reason he shouldn't have basic attack. Devs just can't stop with "I paid money to make basic attack, I will put this requirement everywhere" bullshit

So a spirit has less of a chance to hit someone out of their ability because she has to find the person or know where they are, the blight wouldn't have to do this.
You entirely missed the point.
So you are implying that hitting survivors as Spirit is harder than hitting them with Blight, which is why spirit is allowed to basic attack and blight is not?
-
@NightmareReborn said:
I know this is sort of off topic, but I honestly hate the "basic attack" requirement almost anywhere its put. It creates an unnecessary power disparity, since some killers use basic attacks way more than others, and overall, having more restrictions just simply isn't fun.
I'd suggest allowing all 3 you mentioned (Spirit, Nurse, and Blight) to have their abilities count as basic attacks.
what baffles me even more, that this "basic attack" bs was created only to explain why legion cannot oneshot exposed survivors and then they just can't not to put that idiotic mechanic everywhere and it makes zero sense in means of "balance" since spirit and nurse have basic attacks already and they are the strongest.
Why not basic attack work the following:
If killer uses his main weapon it is basic attack
If killer uses secondary weapon/projectiles it is not basic attack.
As for Legion - his attack in frenzy acts like legion hits survivors under endurance, so he cannot down them no matter what, plain and simple.

you do not need add-on to do this. The issue is that even when you perfectly line-up everything, they can still dodge your swing. This isn't even counting perks like Dead Hard that mess you up by force. this really cripple swing really hurts so much. I really hope they up the swing turning by like 20 degrees. It would help him so much. I mean, I still 4k against most players but his ability vs good survivors is really lackluster. Imagine nurse with this lunge.
Like I said, with addon you turn instantly, thus you can literally smap rush button to chain them very fast, without an addon you have to waste a bit of time for turning

It's strong, no doubt, yet it doesn't give you the instant turn which you can use to shut down basically any loop if there is something to bounce off in the pallet.

bad survivor would panic, good survivor doesnt give a #########
ive played him all day and i can confidently tell that his power cannot be using to counter loops unless a survivor makes a mistake
I assure you, that the only chance survivor might get to escape if they go AWAY from the pallet which means they a ######### anyway because of you short CD and the pallet is now blocked with your body.
When you perform a lethal rush in the pallet you press an attack somewhere 1-2 meters before collision which leaves little time for reaction.
If the survivor tried juking, you press attack a bit earlier, it's hard to describe though, you should see for yourself.
-
@NursesBootie said:
Well, he's also good without this addon if you got fast reactions.
you lose consistency without addon because you have to aim extremely fast yourself, which means you must guess where survivor is supposed to be. addon makes everything much easier + it is instant which you will never achieve with fast reactions.
-
@PleassBuiltInNoed said:
you forgot the fact that survivor can change their movement at any point or just press dsaw/asdw when you are close and completely dodge your ability
You'll have less and less problems with that when you practise that on blight more.
But I assure you, if the survivor is near the pallet, the last thing he'll try is juking, because when he suddenly sees Blight cutting off a corner at mach 20 speed, he'll be in so big panic at that moment, that he'll just run to the pallet to try to drop it. Then you either hit them or eat pallet.
-
@Demogordon_Ramsay said:
This all sounds well and good, but what if the Survivor, you know... moves?
Well, you should assume that survivors aren't standing in pallets and are just reaching it, I was too lazy to draw their path as well.
The thing is that blight can perform 2 short rushes followed up with a hit in less than 1.5 seconds, which is insanely fast.
So basically survivor is like on the corner and blight is 1/2 of wall behind, he charges forward and by the time survivor comes close to pallet, the Blight is already on them. Somewhere it works better, somewhere it doesn't work. I haven't tried him much in T-L loops and in ormond loops, but I assume you can just power through them or use obstacle tech if there is a possibility.
