As an experiment, I tried to play Legion, whose power encourages not to tunnel. What did I get? A ton of teabags at the exit gates. So survivors force the killer to tunnel, punishing him otherwise.
-
There is no such thing as 3 gen anymore, the killer can't kick them more than 8 times, so by the middle of the game the killer runs out of kicks, and you easily finish them all in his face, while teabagging and laughing at his futile attempts to protect the gens after that patch.

i want to know why i was put into each game. like why am i put into a game with a 10,000 hour p100 nurse who claims to be a comp player when i'm queuing with my friend who has less than 100 hours in the game. like i'd want commentary on what part of the matchmaking algorithm thought that made any sense.
I will get another load of downvotes for stating it, but still here it is: because you can find lobby in a few seconds for one role. In games like deadlock, with more rigid matchmaking, it can take up to 20 minutes to find a game of your rank. So it's pick your poison situation, and I'm sure you will be more mad if you have to wait longer for a "better" match, because there are only so many players of your skill level that are queuing at the same time with you in your region.
The main thing that should be changed is making it actually skill based, and not escape based, or reverting it back to rank-based, but the problem will stay the same (e.g. rainbow ranks from the past)
-
They should make the regression accelerate the longer the gen regresses, so that it would be worthwhile to protect a gen.

I have feeling you have never played Nurse and probably neither The First , if you think she has it harder and worse map traversal…
Correction blink is a thing and even her "missed" power gets her closer to survivor, unless she overblinks like crazy.
The First is hold W simulator and there is not much he can do about it.He also has limited timeframe to even deal damage with his power.
It's funny how anyone can be so out of touch to think he is anywhere near power level of Nurse.Since Nurse is one of my mains, your ad hominem doesn't work here. Nurse is usually dodged around corners and small objects with weird collisions, to trigger her auto-aim to hit the wall or to make her blink not pass through the rubble, which is not a thing for the Nurse 2. She takes up to 3 long charged blinks with fatigue to go to the opposite side of the map, which is very long, while Nurse 2's traversal is literally the best in the whole game, it's like chainsaw sprint without steering around objects, with a guaranteed hit on a survivor at the end.

I’ve reported people multiple times for extremely vile things in chat like encouraging self-harm or wishing harm on family members. I’ve never received any notifications that anyone was banned for it. So this type of thing will keep happening if nobody ever gets punished for it.
I've only received one notification for "actions taken" for communications abuse I reported, for the whole time I've been playing this game and reporting obvious bannable stuff, in 1k hours. So technically they do, but very rarely. Of course I've reported countless occurrences of such crap, including what you described and much much more, but only one chat box ever warranted a ban, and of course I had no way of knowing what exactly it was. My guess is that they only ban for some specific words, like racist and homophobic slurs, while they can tell you to off yourself as much as they want as it's not in the list of banwords.
-
Hitting his ability is easier than landing Nurse hits against dodging survivors. He also has better map traversal than Nurse. If Nurse is OP in your opinion, then this is double OP. If the player knows how to click on survivors, every game for them will be just a shooting range with a beer can in one hand

It's hilarous how people are so blinded by their power hunger as killer that they cannot see when killers are too strong, only when they are too weak.
There are two types of players in this game: those who will buy this DLC as soon as it gets out, and those who won't. The first will intentionally advocate for OP stuff, because of course they want ez wins. Since purchased ez wins is the main revenue source for BHVR, devs mainly take their feedback into account, and they would rather push a new DLC killer towards the stronger side, even if the killer is already literally a better Nurse.
-
Unfortunately, such SWF groups make the majority of the playerbase, so the devs prioritize their experience. If they lose, they can just abandon without a penalty with the new feature, but if the killer loses, he is forced to endure the 2 minutes of teabagging. With the unhookable sabo squads who don't even push gens, newer killers will have to endure for 10 (ten) minutes, and that's if survivors don't do one gen in 9 minutes, while survivors can just leave without penalty the moment they fall on the ground.
There is not much you can do while the devs support this survivor-favored philosophy. You can just give up and stop trying to chase them the moment you understand the game is unwinnable, so that survivors lose interest and get salty about you giving up in the end-game chat. Otherwise, pick a stronger killer, hard tunnel the first one out, nod to them on the hook and trample them on the ground, do this with randoms, even if it's "undeserved", just like SWFs do this to undeserving killers. Until the survivors get the taste of their own medicine, they will never learn.
-
He has the ability to damage survivors in a huge radius, through walls, by just clicking on them (i.e. like Nurse, but easier and with smaller delay) and has the best map traversal in the game (something Nurse could never dream of). Yup, nothing wrong with this killer. I'm sure survivors won't give up en masse the moment they see his HUD elements, and it definitely won't be yet another p2w killer dominating every tier list for the next 2 years.

Best part is that BHVR went vacation for the holidays and left the game in this state. S2
Just like some content creators say "they really care about the players and are amazing people who are passionate for the game".To be fair, DbD has always been ridden with cheaters, so they left the game in the same state it has always been.
-
If survivors can have one perk that turns off the whole set of killer abilities, how about giving the killer a perk that ignores Endurance or stuns completely as well? Not just "making stuns shorter, and only from pallets", but completely turns off the ability to stun the killer, just like the old Distortion completely turned off every aura reading perk and ability of the killer.

This would just prolong queuetimes, because you have to remember that up to 4 different Killers can be banned in a game. And well, if you leave the option for SWF (aside from 4 man SWF), there would still be up to 3 guaranteed Killers a SWF will NEVER encounter. Does not really sound too good.
@Topic:
Yeah, Blight can get some Nerfs. IMO it is a nobrainer to let him lose his Tokens after breaking a Pallet, because currently Pallets do not really do much against him.
Hens also mad this point here:
https://youtu.be/zflsJkrJW-c?si=6-wIOCxDMBY1V9Jd&t=415
There he proposes that Blight should lose Tokens when breaking a Pallet, should become 4,4 instead of 4,6 to encourage to go for lethal rushes instead of just playing M1-Killer if the Tile is too difficult for the player (which would also only really hurt bad Blight-players). And as a compensation, the Speed Add Ons should be partially made Basekit so that going for Rushes is more encouraged.
And I think those 3 points make sense and Blight is really overdue for some Nerf. It is almost as bad as Nurse now that you put Blight as the second strongest Killer on basically every Tier List, which means that he is just a bit overtuned.
With the new map design, there are 150 trash pallets all over the place which are just impossible to rush around. So making Blight 4.4 would completely destroy him on these maps, just like removing Nurse's aura reading ability would make her unplayable on indoor maps. I like how people who propose these changes have never touched the respective killers themselves. If you don't like some addons - just nerf the addons, stop messing with basekits which work just fine without addons.
-
Pain res is just -16 seconds of gen progress, 4 times per trial. You are likely wasting more time walking to the white hook on the other side of the map. Without DMS it's a meme perk.

Blight is DBD “golden child” and it seems he has huge support in form of devs, survivors and killer players and his cultnof mains and enjoyers is very wide so thats why he wasnt nerfed like other killers and his busted sddons lasted in game for so long with his hug tech ( without hug tech he is still s-tier and now by comp claimed to be best killer in the game after all these netfs just shows blight is on different meter, ghoul got nerfed faster than anyone thinks, chucky got beaten to bloody mess with nerf hammer, krasue dame as ghoul and blight still rules till today just shows the all killers are treated differently).
Im not for overnerfing blight because in my opinion he should be strong klller due to his uniqueness and skill requirement, he is fun to play as but at the state he is now its pretty funny some people see ghoul as the heart of all problems but sweat nlights will always outpreform ghouls and in comp the time blight takes win in is like 2x or 3x shorter than ghouls.
The main difference between Ghoul and Blight is that it takes mastery to perform well as Blight, otherwise you are just an M1 killer who can't hit anyone with his power and is forced to eat every pallet, while Ghoul is literally "press X to win", even someone who just started playing DbD can easily 4k with Ghoul while eating with one hand and watching some Netflix on the second screen. The community is generally more tolerant to strong killers who actually require skill to perform well.
-
It's not the role vs role problem, it's SWF vs everyone else. I play both soloQ and killer, and know how miserable both of them are. Still, those who only play SWF with bully builds will never sympathize with any of those, and they will try to steer every discussion regarding SWF to the simple Survivor vs Killer, and easily manipulated soloQ players eventually start to believe that it's indeed Survivor vs Killer, and not SWF vs others.
-
Every map now has a lot of pallets. When you chase someone, there is always another pallet for the survivor to run to, and a few more remain at the end of the trial.

Update: Another sunday in DBD… seems like all the unemployed cheaters are more prevelant on this day… oh boy… so far 3 in a row again. This is not just bad for the opponents but also the solo teammates that die. Cause cheaters literally don't care about anyone else, only themselfs.
WHAT is the point? Like I am testing them on SHORT filler loops with bloodlust 3 active and I literally cant catch up to them… WHAT IS THE POINT of this type of cheating????
UPDATE2: Make that 4 in a row… new record I guess. Am I being stalked by cheaters? Are they targeting me on my ID or IP? BHVR tell me why I should drop cash for DBD at this point? when you consider cheaters as valid customers… why?
UPDATE 3: 5 in a row… anyone do better than 5 in a row? people are literallte instantly healing without styptics even being a thing anymore. its like they didnt get the memo … cheaters = low iq
UPDATE 4: 6 in a row… I guess people rly do think cheating is ok after that jedi dude kept promoting it… gees. And I rly am talking about blatant hackers as in bloodlust 3 cant catch up kinda of speedhacking. but BL is outdated feature right? ;)
6 in a row really sounds weird. I've encountered them once every 5 games, usually one "subtle" per team. What is your region? Also, do you record the games? You could upload videos of them for people who don't believe.

BHVR uses Easy Anti-Cheat.
It's only half of the problem, a lesser half. DbD has no server validation for simple client actions, so there are cheats that would be plainly impossible to implement in any other game. You don't need anti-cheat to detect that someone is using a perk they don't have, or running faster with no proper reason.

All items and addons should be removed from the game. Perks and pure skill should be enough for a good gameplay without having to deal with endless balancing issues of busted addons.

A looooot of cheaters and a lot of them that are advertising their cheats in their name, which ofc is only visible post match when I'm playing Surv and they are Killer. Just DC'd from a match two seconds ago from a cheating hillbilly, with his cheats and cheating discord server advertised as his name and because the DC penalty is so abysmal, I got a 5 min lockout, even though I haven't DC'd in the past two months so now I gotta, what? Play 40 matches to get that to go away? Amazing :)
Really great party game BHVR, props to all those involved in development, totally can't believe every other game you guys have made has flopped, really shocked.
DbD is not a party game and is no longer advertised as such. Party games don't have DC penalties and MMR. DbD is a wanna-be e-sports game at this point, but e-sports games have good server validation, anti-cheat and extensive demo-recording capabilities. So it's just the worst of both worlds.

At upwards of 7000 hours, I have seen confirmed cheaters in about 10 games. Some funny looking things in a couple dozen.
Are you playing mainly survivor? In NA? If so, than it's understandable, cheating in NA is less widely spread due to the local ethics, and most cheaters play survivor, so if they are trying to be "subtle", only the killer will notice it. You might have noticed the killer accusing one of your teammates of speedhacking or something in the end-game chat, you probably brushed that off and said something like "skill issue", defending your teammate, but "subtle" speedhackers are actually quite widespread, you will definitely notice them a lot if you play Nurse.

It's what happens when BHVR is inept from real game balance and the community supports it. The game is geared towards SWF's and S-Tier Killers, nothing else is really viable if you want to have fun matches that aren't filled with the most toxic slop imaginable. I don't blame the people who play the S-Tier because otherwise they'll just get held hostage in toxic matches and those Blights that make it their personal goal to slug out a 4k at 5 gens have clearly been put through hell to get to that point against SWF's; I don't blame the SWF because SoloQ play is completely non viable, especially with the backtracking of any actual "health patches" and the removal of going next.
It's what happens when a game has a selfish community that wants everything nerfed besides whatever they like to personally abuse combined with Devs who can't balance a thing. Yes, Blight should be nerfed, but then that's one less Killer that can compete with SWF's. So really, SWF's need to be rebalanced while the top Killers get rebalanced and then SoloQ and M1 Killers need to be rebalanced, maps also need a hell of a rebalance and to be split into rng categories based off Killer.
Truer words have never been said (in this thread at least). Once again, the core problem is the SWF omnipotence. SWFs annihilate every killer and make them suffer through endless stuns, saves, tanks and revives, those killers switch to S-tier and let their steam off on unfortunate soloQ in the next game, and those then quit playing soloQ and join either killers or SWFs, and the cycle repeats. The only ones who have it easy here are the SWFs, and the devs will never dare to nerf SWF since they are the majority of the playerbase and the loudest voice on every medium (they are also the majority on this forum, so every anti-SWF opinion is downvoted in an instant).
So yeah, this game will be in eternal battle between toxic SWFs and karmic Blights, with M1 killers and soloQ players being the collateral damage.
-
Every other killer gets bullied by endless flashlights and pallets, and Nurse is currently insufferable because of bugs. It's the survival of the fittest, all other killers went extinct and the Blight population is the only one that can adapt to the highly acidic SWF ridden environment.
-
A guy baits with "cheaters cheat because killers are OP", and the whole thread unironically proceeds to reason with him and prove him wrong, a whole page long discussion. But when someone says something constructive and reasonable, they get ignored and their posts sinks into oblivion.
-
Once again, nobody even mentions the fact that it's ESCAPE-based matchmaking, and not skill-based.
-
Nerf second chance perks and hook denial builds.
(This will never happen even if they lose killer players)

Like I mentioned in my original comment back when this thread first got published, elves are on average slightly shorter, and more slender than humans.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/A9MC92OZF6AO/20260102154756-1.jpg
This is an example from Dragon Age Veilguard (applies to the other games in the series). Elves are portrayed to be around half a head's height shorter than the human characters on average, but with a similar range of sizes.
Side note: Dragon Age is heavily based on D&D, so the designs of the characters are good representations of what D&D characters would look like.Dragon Age has nothing to do with D&D. If you want to use computer games as an example, you could look at BG3.
-
Easy and elegant solution for the problem: make all survivors share the hook states, so that they all have a pool of 12 hooks and only start dying after 8th hook, even if it was the same survivor. To balance that off, make the gens take twice as long and raise the gen kick limit.
-
@jedimaster505 said:
when I play solo Q survivor the killers run away from me so much that it makes me the real killer.
I face a lot of blights and ghouls and springtrap in the NA. Nurse is more rare cause her learning curve is 20 hrs instead of 5
Nurse is rare because she has been suffering from a few horrible bugs for 3 years and counting, making playing her painful beyond human standards. She is also more vulnerable to speedhackers than any other killer, and those are basically part of the game at this point.
-
The whole offering system is outdated and should be removed or overhauled completely. Offerings are either useless, or bring nothing but misery to one of the sides. Just removing them all and making the cakes/streamers basekit would solve a lot of problems.

Every new feature they implement has 4% chance to work properly. This one was from the other 96%.

So stealth is like doing nothing? Stealthing ghoul is easier because you know he is coming faster due to his tr being bigger and his fow being slightly worse than rushing blight when he is leaping.
By logic of your opinion asian survivors must be worst one even they stealth more that other survivors from other regions and still they are considered to be on average probably best survivors even good players like hens struggle way more against them due to their more safe but very effective aproach of playstyle.

Ghoul by the way can be out played by playing a stealth game, he's not one we can just bully around by using head on and beamers with our friends and that's what people dont like about him. Adapt to a different play style (one legacy players had) and find more success. You legacy player haters forget that til noob3 made it cool to loop killers this was a very different game.

Saying that a killer can be outplayed by "stealth" is just another way of phrasing "the only way to win is not to play at all".

Flashlights should be removed from the game altogether. They only exist for SWFs to bully inexperienced killers.

That's just how hitbox detection works though?
If a lunge detects it's in a Survivor's hurtbox, then it ends the lunge with an automatic swing, since it's going to result in a hit. It only becomes an issue if you encounter an environmental hitbox during the small movements during the swing, which can be the case with tight corners and the like.
People act like the mechanic exists just to spite them or something, which doesn't make sense. It's just one of those things that isn't noticed when it's going right, and stands out when it's going wrong.
If a lunge detects it's in a Survivor's hurtbox, then it ends the lunge with an automatic swing, since it's going to result in a hit.
What does aim assist have to do with it? Damage on collision is a different thing entirely. The aim assist OP is talking about is when your camera rotates on its own somewhere you did not mean to.
-

It's probably helped you many times. Aim Dressing is one of those features that is only visible when it breaks.
If it didn't exist then lunges would slide off of Survivors by default. You'd have to let go of M1 at precise moments instead of it hitting automatically.

Sounds like some kind of ridiculous implementation of lunge, even for BHVR standards.
-
If they could, they would've done it long ago. Most likely it's soaked somewhere in their spaghetti code and no one in their team was successful in finding and fixing the source of the issue, just like with the server validation and omnipotence of the cheaters. Now it's just part of the passive killer nerfs: "the entity has a slight chance to steal your hit, to give survivors hope".

To be honest, with how horrendous DBD's anti-cheat is, which is to say non-existent; I'm rather surprised that it doesn't just let hackers have remote access to the client's PC.
It's not an anti-cheat issue, at this point it's just architecture issue. Those things should not even be possible with a proper back-end, and they are not in other games. You don't need an anti-cheat for a server to know that "this survivor is suspiciously flying around, throwing hatchets and spamming the hooking animation, something is off here".
-
Imagine having a cheat that breaks other player's client-side typing functionality. This game's software architecture is a joke to the point no sane person will even believe it's possible until they encounter it themselves. Try telling someone playing CS or CoD about what cheaters in this multi-million dollar game can do.

and also why when you say nerf swf to solo level you get downvoted
Seems the majority are actually SWF players. They also intentionally derail any "soloq vs SWF" discussion into "survivor vs killer" argument, and this thread is a good example of that. As long as SWF mains can keep the narrative within the "Survivor vs Killer" paradigm, their dominion over DbD is safe.
-
You just restated the ancient problem again: SWFs destroy killers, killers destroy soloQs. They try to help survivors, but end up buffing SWFs as a consequence, making killers more miserable. They try to help killers, but end up making soloQ insufferable. Until the disparity between SWF and soloQ is addressed, there will never be a balance between survivors and killers. Going into "Survivor vs Killer" narrative just misses the true reason of the problem, but SWF mains know it and intentionally steer any balance discussion into "Survivor vs Killer" instead of "SWF vs SoloQ" as it should be.
-
He will be changed, but only after his DLC sales drop to the average. Until then, they will be "looking into it".
