Unnecessary change IMO.
-
For me it’s always been about how you deliver the message.
You can feel mad and frustrated about something but your delivery is everything. Especially if your intent is for the devs to actually listen.
I think that’s what this thread is about.
-
Answer this question to the best of your ability...
Why is this not happening to other killers?
Are they just getting lucky? Cuz I can tell you in my games the killer didn’t have this much trouble UNLESS the odds were already against them. (Maps/Tiles,Toolboxes)
I’m not going to sit here and say “you are just bad” with how very little evidence you have provided but I disagree that your individual killer experience is a reflection of everyone’s.
I really don’t understand. I play killer in purple ranks and often get red ranks anyway... I don’t have a problem catching them EVEN if a gen has popped before my first hook. I will sweat if I have to but then again, I play to win because winning is fun... I don’t worry about “I don’t want them to think I am tunneling”... so let’s start with that. You have to stop feeling bad for survivors.
-
If by “looking into it” you mean reading these forums. I wish you good luck, because it has become a place where everyone complains without reason.
Complaining before even trying changes. I don’t even sabo that much but with the attention this one change is getting you would think every survivor group is doing when it is not the case.
Anyway, just felt like I needed to say that because I like to observe the forums but lately it has been disgusting the way people can’t even express their opinion without being put down and torn apart simply because they are already mad at you for going forward with the changes.
-
I would say it could be very effective for the last MoM stack. Like when a killer is slugging the last survivor etc.

i just use red ranks as the balance indicator for the game, its where the biggest divides happen, and where the inequity is the most clear. The updates in this patch i feel are going to change the game in favor of the survivor ( i'm unsure of the toolbox change long term as it was still very strong in the PTB, maybe stronger). a missed hooking due to sabo after a mediocre chase in most instances will really hurt the killer (in anything above yellow ranks) and they changed the game massively to make that easier to do. So i don't think its out of line for person to think the devs "hate the killers".
I do think it's out of line, and an over exaggerated comment at best.
Sorry, but if the devs really 'hated' killers there would be no updates or buffs for them, period. Regardless of how you may feel overall about the game.
You want changes to be made? Then simply saying "The devs hate killers" is not going to cut it.
There is a handful of people (Not everyone) but definitely a group that try to sell this narrative on here, which is simply not true.

i don't think there's a conspiracy or anything. I think the game is fundamentally designed in favor of the survivor (which makes sense because that the majority of the player base). IMHO the sabo update and the nerfs to the deathslinger/addons are very survivor sided, while the killer buffs make them better, i don't think it will make them more viable in red ranks.
My response was in response to the comment "they hate killers" made by the other forum poster. You only came into the picture because you think they don't favor red rank killers which is a very different thing.
Changes that happen in different patches aren't suppose to be 50/50, unless there is something I am unaware of. They also nerfed toolboxes which is also a game changer.
Again, you can have your opinion about the devs not favoring red ranks = the game is survivor sided. My response however was not on the topic of "What does it mean to show love for a red rank killer" but more for "They hate killers because..."

you think those buffs are as game changing as the new sabo meta? those killer buffs don't fundamentally change the game like the sabotage buff.
The doctor has a lot of changes. The Plague got more than a QoL change. Trapper got 2 QoL changes.
Yes. I do believe they are game changing for those killers. I main Plague and she was already strong as she was.
Sabo changes mean nothing unless you're specifically going against a team who wants to sabo. It is strong, but I wouldn't expect to encounter a sabo squad in every match.
Point is. To sit there and just pretend like killers did not get a buff and use this as "evidence" that they are survivor sided, is just silly. I can't even take those posts anymore.

i'm a red rank on both and this game is clearly slanted for the survivor.
Even if you're opinion was fact, It doesn't take away from the fact that they made those buffs.
Your rank has nothing to do with how they are supposedly 'favoring' survivors.
If you really wanted to make an argument about this, please point out what was changed in this patch that favored survivors more than killers other than the sabo changes?

Yet sabo changes went live plus hang mans trick was over nerfed along with a host of other nerfs not to mention deathslinger didn’t get any changes ya ok dude I can tell you are a survivor main
Actually I am not a survivor main, I play 50/50 survivor and killer. Not that it has anything to do with what I just said, because obviously you would rather not discuss the fact that they also buffed things for killer in an effort to keep promoting this silly narrative that they only care about survivors.
;)

Yep, they hate killers so much that they buffed Plague and Doctor.
But you can keep telling yourself that.

"Many of the people who complain about being camped or tunneled also forget that this is a mechanic of the game."
Well maybe it shouldnt be part of the game. This is what people mean whan they say that the game is "bad". It has things it shouldnt have, and doesnt have things it should.
Why shouldn't it be a part of the game?
If you think it's a bad thing for the game that's fine. It doesn't mean there aren't people out there who can deal with it.
Same goes for killers who don't like things that survivors are able to do.
-
What is in the forums doesn’t reflect how everyone else feels. You will always have people complain for the good or the bad.
Even if the game was 100% balanced people would find something to complain about.
-
It can reward bad killers because you can literally afk yo get the perk to proc.
Do I care enough to make a case about it needing to be nerfed? No.
Just like to point out the obvious. I never see someone who has no ed as “damn you worked hard for that no ed” more like “you’re welcome that the game gives you a free expose”.
-
It still CAN reward you for literally afk’ing.
Nobody is saying that there is no counter just that it can directly reward killers for literally doing nothing. You don’t even have to hook anyone or pressure a gen to get it to proc.
-
Very nice read.
You know at first glance I was kind of wondering where you were going with these ideas but after reading I have to say I agree with you (even if not on everything).
I play mostly survivor but I do play killer as well and most of the time I am thinking I need to get “these many hooks” before they have a chance to get out. So while I understand both sides and their issues with tunneling, on the killer side the killer isn’t thinking “welp gotta tunnel” they are thinking I need these hooks to outpace. Of course there is always that one person who just wants to be a bad sport and do it on purpose without caring about winning.
Honestly, I really feel like we need new mechanics. The game has grown enough that there should be objectives within the game that will help either side out-pace each other without heavily relying on perks or RNG. Things like adding different features to chases and general killer/survivor interaction.
We just need something that will make it more fun and interactive for both sides.
-
I would rather gens start infected than survivors.
Somehow I am not keen on the idea of a survivor started out sick because it would be too OP especially with the new Plague changes.
I say this as a Plague main.
-
Dedicated Servers.
-
Bullying in general is bad... In this game it has become an overused term where mechanics are somehow considered “bullying”.
The real bullying exists outside of the game.

If you provide a link and time stamp I will certainly view it but of late they have posted here and stated that it is not cheating as it accepted that its part of any game where people play with friends.
I’ve also never seen a dev say SWF is “cheating”.
The problem is people are neglecting to see how many tracking perks have been added since and also how much has changed on stealth killers etc. Those two alone many a big difference when they encountering a SWF group.

If survivors are bad you will win blind folded as a killer, but if survivors are even decent you will lose no matter what.
So you’re saying a good killer can’t win against decent survivors?
I think even decent survivors make mistakes and also have potential to get bad maps, loops etc. just as much as a killer can.
-
You also forget that just because some people don’t like a few of the things you have listed doesn’t mean the game is somehow “bad”.
Many of the people who complain about being camped or tunneled also forget that this is a mechanic of the game. Same with the people who tunnel AND THEN proceed to complain about DS and gen times because they couldn’t keep their eyes off one survivor.
In essence yes the game is not perfect but if you are from way back when insta blinds existed, then you would know that the game has come very far. This is mostly due to the devs efforts to improve it.
Don’t just diss it because of the “bad” parts.
-
That’s what I do.
If I ever go into a solo match I go with 0 expectations from my teammates, or else I get a headache. It is literally a worse experience than playing killer for me.
-
The thing is I get what you are saying OP... being camped isn’t fun, but there are no restrictions for it other than you lose points as killer. That’s what I think the problem is.
I don’t like the sound of killers having limitations but for those asking the other survivors to just do gens is pretty dumb. I’ve always said I would rather die to a good experience than win to a boring one.
The devs should leave camping as it is... BUT extend the tools to execute a save during hardcover camping. That’s the bottom line.
-
All these “change my mind” threads. 😂
It is and should be bannable, period.

Knew it.
Also if a killer is bad at getting any kills throughout the match then it shouldn't be a problem to remove all totems to prevent noed right?
Also noed does not reward killer for being bad, it rewards killer because survivors refuse to prevent it by cleansing dull totems.
If you want a perk that actually rewards killer for failing something then look no further at fire up.
Except for that No Ed is still rewarding the killer for doing nothing. Just because you can prevent it doesn’t take away the fact that you can literally afk and get it to proc.
Prevention does not mean skilled.
Imagine if Adrenaline pro cc’d from your hooks. Would be something else wouldn’t it?
-
Yup survivors are so invincible that you cannot touch them or down them at all.
If you take the stun and hook them again they will self unhook immediately. Yep they are very invincible.
/s
DS is not ruining the game, bad killers are.

I don't disagree with you. Personally, I couldn't care less if the killer goes back to the hook and the survivor hops in a locker. They're using their "don't tunnel" perk to stop the killer from tunneling.
The time where it starts to get abusive is when they use that to work on a nearby generator, they hop in a locker whenever you get close.
By the time that survivor is found again there is no longer 60 seconds. You’ve said it yourself before.
I understand that to some the use of DS to its full potential might seem abusive but where do you draw the line? The killer could for all we know “pretended” to walk away, only to turn around and keep tunneling that survivor... after they got on a gen.
The perk never stopped the tunneler from tunneling, it merely bought that survivor some time. I just don’t understand why people see it as abusive when there are built in mechanics on the killer side like Camping and Slugging, that are “abused” And no one is complaining about that, even tho survivors have made it very clear that it is annoying and sometimes unfair.
I just think at this point DS is being nit-picked. It is probably in the best place it has been.
-
@Peanits said:
We are looking into the potentially more abusive aspects and seeing what we can do, but nothing is confirmed yet.
How is it abusive at all if the killer can simple come back to the hook and a locker is nearby? It is a legit strat.
It’s not like the locker renders the survivor unable to be pulled out. Same concept as when the killer leaves survivors on the ground over and over and over... they still die right? Even tho we can consider that to be abusive.
-
It was unfair in the beginning of the game, it is not anymore.
Not when you have a full array of tracking perks.
-
Idk if they should nerf him, but currently he is boring af to play against cuz literally everyone runs Infectious and basically slugs the whole match.
Every. Single. Time.
-
I don't think the game would allow you to camp if it wasn't encouraged by certain builds/perks.
Which is why now, even tho I don't like it, I accept it. It's part of the game, just as taking a hit for someone else as a survivor is. Annoying as killer but I accept it.
I think playing killer or survivor should feel like there are no rules. You are trying to play a role.
-
For me, The Match is the vehicle. The killer and survivors are the driver....Why? Because you can choose which route you want to take. You can choose to tunnel/not tunnel, you can choose to pressure a gen or not, etc. Just as much as survivors can become immerse and decide not to work on a gen, maybe then want to be chased because they are comfortable looping, etc.
Winning the match is ALL about out-pacing each other (killer/survivor), Tipping the scales in order to perform your objective.
Just because they won doesn't mean you are bad, there could have been several rng factors that played a role or maybe it could have been that they were just a bit better in parts of the match. The same could be applied to the other side.
You can point out how the match is unfun for the loadouts and items, but the survivors have to face the same "unfun" scenario ...not to mention they don't know who they are playing up against which is a big deal when you consider that many perks are situational and may work on one killer and not a playstyle.
-
Preach.
So true and needed to be said.

I don't think you read the title correctly. Proof is written as "proof" for a reason.
Because if you wanted proof that the game is survivor sided you'd look at all the complaints on the forums and then cross reference them with how quickly those changes got put through.
Still doesn’t change the fact that this is reaching a new level of “this is a survivor sided game”.
Also, many of those complaints you speak of is a lot of people just insulting either the devs or survivors so I try not to waste time on posts which have 0 substance and basically just seeking attention.
Yes there are legit posts which offer a different outlook on things, maybe some new ideas but they come far in between.

@Seanzu said:
The issue I have, and I play both sides is that killers want EVERYTHING and it's going to put the game out of whack.
They want gens increased, maps smaller, killers buffed & survivors meta perks nerfed.
I don't think you can change all these and still keep the game reasonably fun for survivors, they're clearly working on maps and bringing weaker killers up a level or two every couple of patches and that's what they're focusing on
This. This. This.
I also think that every match plays different. My matches certainly have gens popping quick but they also have gens that do not pop as quick. Much of this has to do with killer keeping pressure.
Which is why putting pressure shouldn’t “annoy” you so much since you are already doing it because otherwise you wouldn’t win.
There are WAY too many variables that can tip the scales in a match. If gens took an eternity, imagine what those slow down perks would do. Nobody wants to hold M1 but nobody wants to make games were the killer doesn’t have to create any pressure.
-
No
-
Umm, no.

If you’re going for the taste the floor kind of build, definitely Dead Hard. It will have you exhausted on the ground in no time.
In all seriousness it is nice if you are trying to loop, while Sprint Burst gives you distance in very risky situations. Like being caught in a dead zone.
-
Boop the Snoot is probably one of the more positive things to come out of this game.
So for that reason alone I will always attempt to boop the snoot.
-
If there was ever a post trying So hard and yet giving so little about the whole “The game is survivor sided here is proof” is this one.
You can literally see ALL generator auras, You can literally see ALL hook auras that are available to you when you carry a survivor. You can literally walk without the need to worry about leaving scratch marks.
Like, if you wanna make a thread about visually hindering objects in the environment is one thing but to try to sell this as proof the game is survivor sided, no one is buying that.
That would be like saying the game is killer sided because it has random trash that I get stuck on for no reason.
-
They are working on matchmaking.
Also, Time and Where you live matter. If the system can’t find any low levels to pair you up with, it will then attempt to search in a different rank bracket.
-
I think Stealth works pretty well considering it requires a perk to counter it, the rest is up to you and your skill around maps.
-
I really miss the old cinematic, I just felt like it captures the essence of what DBD is and while the new one is cool, I find myself thinking “Is this a Tron introd— oh nvm.”

The Pig, she knows when it’s been too long since I booped her snoot.

Lots of us do, for sure, but then there are those dozens of end game chats with people who are jerks unnecessarily---you know how it is.
That's when you close post game chat so you don't have to see it.
Posting on here isn't going to stop them from doing it.
-
I don’t understand this post. Everyone already knew this.

Agreed.
Rarely do I see posts of people giving suggestions to all the problems they complain about.
They would rather act out while holding the Us vs. Them mentality in an effort to somehow “prove” that there are more of them complaining.
