  • My favorite rule is when I play killer and I don't have to think about a silly made-up rule book.

    Survivors have a likelihood of spawning one of three ways iirc.

    All 4 seperate. All 4 together. Or in pairs.

    Usually, you're more likely to spawn with teammates cuz of this.

    @CrowFoxy

    I seem to remember when I would spawn by myself, and ever since Legion came out (when Discordance came into the game)... I noticed the change.

    All my friends and I joke about "Who brought Shroud this time" because ever since most of my matches have consisted of spawning players together. It's to the point where Shroud should just be changed to something else because it's useless.

    I do not know how it is determined by the game, but what I do know is that because of how many times I have spawned next to at least 2 other survivors (sometimes right up on each other) I just assumed there were maybe only two ways in which you spawned into a match.

    I reply to you, but it's for @Shocktober as well.

    First, consider that I have whispers, and I don't spawn that far away from the generator. I'm not going straight there, but the direction I'm checking it's the correct one. Problem is, that the gen is completed in under 30 seconds (you can check when the trial starts and the gen pops). And they didn't have any toolboxes (I assumed they did later in the video because I saw one, but actually they found it in a chest later in the game).

    I think it's debatable that gen speed is not broken, considering that due to the gen speed there's a bug where the repaired gen is not registered until they complete another gen as well.

    Now, as for the clearly, you were not being gen-rushed, I'm telling you, they obviously tried:

    look at 6:08: it's only because I fail to chase a survivor that, as a last resort, I try to go to another area of the map and I'm able to pop a generator which was more than 80% repaired. If I wasn't able to stop that gen at that moment, I wouldn't have had a 3 gen to defend, and I have to reiterate that I was very lucky they were not that good at chases, hence I was able to insta down (again: only because I was the Oni) at least one survivor every time I got into my power, and quickly pop that same generator.

    So yeah, I do agree that they didn't efficiently gen rush, but this should only show you how it's obvious something is broken: even if I was clearly able to make the right call at the right time and able to down them extremely quickly, I just needed one slip to compromise the trial probably irremediably.

    The take home messages should be that:

    1. No gen should be able to be completed that quickly
    2. Prove Thyself should not completely nullify the gen repair speed debuff.

    @Edys

    The timestamp between when the match starts and when the gen pops is between 2:34 - 3:07, which means that at least 3 players were on the generator. You expect that if (again) survivors spawn together and not separate, more than likely you will lose that first gen. Unless you get lucky or make the right call when it comes to going to the right area.

    As far as the bug when that happened... I didn't say that wasn't broken. It's happened to me, but there is no arguing they need to fix that.

    Here is where I have a problem with these type of threads. Obviously I am not saying that the whole "I lost a gen in the beginning of the match" sucks. As I mentioned, I play killer as well and it has happened to me one or two times, definitely not something that is a constant trend. I think it's important to understand that because showing one bad scenario to excuse whether something is balanced or not, is not very supporting that something needs to be changed. I can definitely say (for me) I've had 99.8% of my matches where this hasn't happened.

    The game is heavily RNG-reliant, and this goes for both survivors and killers where one bad move can cost you. So, imagine if for example at 2:41 you had decided to instead make a complete right, and check on that pathing (because honestly I would have assumed their spawn location was opposite of me) you probably would have gotten there within enough time to interrupt their repair. OR Imagine how that David felt at 3:30 when he didn't have anywhere to physically go and avoid your hit, while you use your perk on an almost finished gen. You both could have brought perks or made a different choice to either help/prevent each situation.

    Honestly, if I was going up against an Oni (My least favorite killer because I believe his power is broken-just my personal opinion) I'd want to do gens as fast as possible. Considering how many of my Oni encounters have consisted of Get power, hook, go back to the hook, slug, slug, hook, hook.

    Prove Thyself is no more effective, than the opposing side's side effects that can regress/stop and completely de-value any repair speed boost. You have tools to help you with slowing down gen speeds, so if what you are looking for is a base slow gen speed, then they would have to completely re-work every perk that slows down gens, because it would then not be fair that you get to get more "free time" at base, while you can also bring a strong build to deny survivors of other potential outcomes. This, if in fact gen speeds are broken. Which again, if we are judging by how many times this happens it's not. That's my opinion after almost 4,000 hours of playing DBD.

  • Here is the thing. It really doesn't.

    It seems to me that at some point (maybe around when Discordance came into the picture) survivors started to spawn together more often than not.

    I can only speak for experience, but I actually stopped using Shroud Of Binding offerings anymore because I didn't need them anymore. The ability to do a gen that fast when the whole team spawns together and the killer (is out of luck) and checks the wrong gen. Why wouldn't it? It would be the same as a survivor running into the killer (by accident) and immediately going down after.

    The fact is everyone has experienced a generator being finished before initiating a chase (I have too). It doesn't mean that gen speed times are broken. Because by that philosophy they would have to brutally nerf perks that slow gen times. I didn't want to deal with a Forever Freddy before because of how excessive his slow down is, so why would I agree that he should be able to slow down the game even more?

    Clearly you were not being gen-rushed in the video and it was just bad luck because if had you gone there first, you would have had the advantage of not letting them finish. The game works like that in many scenarios.

  • @snozer

    Apparently more than you, considering your post count.

    Actually that is usually done when the team is terribad or making bad plays. Its done as a "screw you" to the team. Perhaps your team did something to cause it because everytime I see it happen its when someone sat on a gen and let their friend hit struggle or something that triggered them to die on hook. Thats the only time I see someone let go right before being unhooked.

    @DrDeepwound

    Did this yesterday. They all crouched as if the killer was near them, then one of them started to cleanse a totem and the only person back to the hook is the killer because he did not find anyone.

    Surely I thought they must have been yellow ranks, nope all red ranks.

    I can’t say I blame a lot of the people doing it.

  • As beautiful as they look, they don’t look like killers anymore. Also, isn’t that Jane’s hair they just slapped on Plague? Lol

    If anything I would say add cosmetics that show more parts of their “original” features. Like I would love a Plague cosmetic where underneath her headpiece she has long hair but parts of it are missing.

    She did have long hair after all.

  • Just because the game is a 4v1 doesn't automatically mean you are going to get 'bullied'. This is far from the truth.

  • Yes.

    They knocked it out of the park. I hope they keep this trend with P3 cosmetics.

  • @ggezbabykiller said:

    It’s always the same people too. It’s really both amusing and scary.

  • Why are you blaming survivors for this change?

    I have not seen a single post regarding Billy being “OP”. I don’t know where you are getting your sources from.

    It’s really absurd that you make another thread even tho you could have kept responding to the one you already had on this topic just to threaten survivors with a mori? Literally nobody cares that you want to bring a mori every match. Guess what? It already happens anyway.

    Sweaty killers will be sweaty.

    Seriously. If you are that stressed out about a game, perhaps pvp mode games just aren’t for you.

    I think the reason why they made it so the pants can't be split is because the hoodie drapes over them. It prevents the hoodie from being able to clip with other pants.

    @ProfoundEnding

    Which makes sense, that's why things like flowy capes and even hair require a rigging process. So as I said it would have required a bit more work, but it's not an impossible task.

    I just think it's a weird design choice when 100% of the costumes have been sold as separate pieces. I'm not shocked people are reacting to it.

  • I think that they should allow pieces that COULD stay as one separate piece, separate.

    Like Nea's pants for example. There is virtually no reason it couldn't stay as a separate piece... even if it was designed as one whole 3D model, they could separate it within the 3D program, it's just a bit more work.The hood from the waist up could be it's own piece.

    Sometimes people love to mix and match because there are parts of the outfit they don't like. That's a HUGE part of DBD and it gives it some sense of freedom in terms of customization. So I feel that people will not be as inclined to purchase witth 0 customization.

  • "gonna predict the future" .....

    How about just try him out and see what you think and give your thoughts. You know...instead of everything being doom and gloom right off the bat. Then again I see a few names and I am not surprised by the negativity that surrounds every update.

  • @Khalednazari

    The sad part is you see that more often than not.

    Somehow it almost feels like your hitbox becomes the pallet, and really where they should smack the pallet, it is your hitbox that is getting hit.

  • I'd rather use Corrupt Intervention than Ruin on Michael, because it forces survivors to have to look for gens and meanwhile you can stalk them and begin to tier up.

  • "Over privileged survivors" 🤣 I can't. I really can't.

    And meanwhile they were all being altruistic and no one was on a gen.

  • The only time I see a problem with it is during EGC. Especially when the doors are already opened.

    You send someone to a cage, and you have no indication of where other survivors might go. So it'll come down to luck at that point.

    I think you should be able to see the cage during EGC. Cuz it's not like you can go to gens and find other survivors, since gens are already done.

  • @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1404042#Comment_1404042

    If that's your issue with it, wouldn't a more elegant solution be to disable DS when you touch a generator? Then you don't have to worry about moonwalking to cheese the mechanics about it, it just straight up disables the second you decide, "I'm not getting tunneled, I'm putting myself back in the game."

    @Peanits

    I think this would only be fair if it didn't disable when a survivor "touched" a gen but rather when a percentage of the gen has been completed. Many times as a killer you can still keep tabs on that survivor, so while you won't immediately tunnel off hook, you can easily do it shortly after.

    I think at this point we are literally nit-picking every scenario in which a survivor might have had an advantage using DS, and not nit-picking scenarios in which a killer was still just able to slug because the survivor had no other option. Like when they don't have DS, and the killer can just come back to the hook if they feel like it. Because when that happens, excessive Slugging becomes problematic too.

  • @supersonic853 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1404463#Comment_1404463

    If you have time to do a gen your obviously not being tunneled. So do you really need your get out of jail free card there anyway?

    @supersonic853

    Devs never said it is strictly an anti-tunnel perk to begin with.

    Besides you can easily keep tabs on someone after they were just unhooked. So to use Peanits’ example, as a Wraith can just cloak and wait to see in which direction a survivor went. They hop on a gen and I can start chasing them again....boom, they can't get in a locker anymore.

    Now you might say “well they are wasting their time for doing that” ... well, then so is the person inside the locker who might have 15 seconds left on their DS.

    You can’t punish using a locker when the people who just got unhooked had no other choice. They are using it as a strat. Just as you can use unlimited slugs as a strat.

  • @supersonic853 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1404029#Comment_1404029

    Whats stopping survivors from getting unhooked going over to a gen right now and when i come over they hop right into a locker. Guess im either getting dsd or waiting outside the locker for a while.It should really just stay the same it is but at least deactivate on lockers because if survivors want to counter being slugged they have 2 now.

    @supersonic853

    A locker bring nearby is RNG based, just like when there is no locker in sight and you come right back to the hook to tunnel.

    Even if a survivor is fully healed, and hop right on a gen. By the time you have found them (unless you come back to tunnel off hook, then that’s on you) their time will have most likely depleted.

    You can’t blame players for trying to counter a mechanic that doesn’t even require you to use a perk. Unlike unbreakable, or DS which eats a perk slot and can only be used once.

    i was literally back to back downing people and they still powered through the gens like I wasn't even playing the game man. I run gen protection perks and I still couldn't do jack ######### against a coordinated team. Which the entire premise of this game falls apart if you play as.

    @coppersly

    Slug.

    Literally a built-in tool that can pressure survivors off gens immediately. Just got out of a match as Plague against a coordinated swf in Midwich (mostly red ranks) who were powering through gens while remaining 'hidden' and immersing pretty well.

    Once I started slugging they started cleansing. Then I took advantage of that because (as you know) that map is pretty painful depending on the team. I got a 3k out of it and 1 got out because they had a key.

    Only slow down perk I had was Corrupt btw. They were hiding until it was gone. It was pretty insane.

    See the issue isn't about representation, it's that people (and likely the devs) jump straight to stereotypes. Many of us are not the sort of people who want to wear pink fur coats or 'embrace fashion,' and the notion that we are constantly represented by such stereotypes marginalises us further.

    In writing a 'race-positive' character, they literally made a social justice warrior, and I don't mean that like the way it's thrown around, I mean she is literally someone who fights for social justice. They couldn't make her race-positive without race being her entire identity, and defining feature. I'm worried that we're going to get the exact same stereotypes thrown at us and be told 'there, be grateful you're represented now!'

    Honestly the parody of what it is to be gay that is represented in most TV shows these days is about as accurate as racial stereotypes being used to make ethnic characters, then telling them "you should be grateful that we included you, even if it was in an offensive way!"

    @anarchy753

    I mean, I just used it as an example. Regardless of how they are going to portray future or current characters people are more or less jumping the gun is what I am getting.

    Like, of course I know not every gay “embraces fashion” (trust me I know) my cousin is gay and you would never be able to tell he was. It doesn’t mean he is hiding it. So if you have a character who is a natural fashionista and that maybe in their lore they were going to school for fashion, before the entity took over them, I would assume that they would show that through various skins. So that’s what I was trying to get at with my comment. I only used Ace because looking at his skins he strikes me as someone who embraces fashion.

    People really don’t know anything but they think they do.

  • I’m still baffled at how much one paragraph on Twitter blew up.

    Especially when the message was targeted at the lore of DBD. I can’t even imagine what it would have been like if they released skins that are representative of how some gay men embrace fashion. Like imagine if they had shown concept art of Ace wearing a pink fur coat or something, people would have really lost their minds.

  • What I personally try to do is play the game without too many expectations, and try to make every mistake a learning experience while not taking each mistake too serious.

    If I find myself not enjoying the matches, I will sometimes bounce to another more low-key game so one game doesn't affect my entire gaming day or whatever.

  • @IMhereRUN said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1399615#Comment_1399615

    I know brutha, but that will continue to exist whether DS is nerfed or not.

    Is it really fair for the rest of us killers to still get 2 or 3 free DS strikes to our face without tunneling? Yes, we know the perk isn’t for anti-tunneling only, but a reasonable nerf should not be an issue.

    Although it’s NOT only an anti-tunnel perk, most people that don’t want to see it nerfed use it for exactly that reason. A small nerf to promote balance in a game already heavily favoring survivors is not unreasonable. Heck, most killers would probably agree to have a variation of the perk where it has UNLIMITED USES, but is only active for 15/20/25 seconds. Now it counters tunneling still, without survivors getting free second chances from being unskilled or doing something stupid.

    @IMhereRUN

    I play killer too (believe it or not) and I have had my own share of stories where I thought "Oh <bleep> it's the same Claudette that just got unhooked" and I didn't intend on finding or went out of my way to find them... so I agree, there are small things they could do to DS to not unfairly affect someone who isn't playing "dirty".

    There are just way too many instances like the one I pointed out that are unfair, but then there are also the ones that are fair. Like, I had a Trapper yesterday who went around a building (He had Insidious) to hide. Someone came to unhook me, and healed me. As soon as the heal bar hit 100% they came right back and guess who they went for? Now, let's take one of the ideas that some people have suggested where a healed survivor should have their DS deactivate. There was not a lot to play around in the area I was hooked + I was at a disadvantage because he had previously set traps around my hook. So we can sit here and talk about "He played smart", we can also see how much of an easy target I became because he chose to come back, and having DS not active simply because of a flawed condition in that instance would have been unfair IMO.

    So, all I am saying and why I am in agreement with the OP is that they can look into DS all they want, but if we are going to nit-pick every single scenario where DS is used unfairly and to the survivor's advantage, then we also need to look into the other side.

  • @RockoRango said:

    DS is irrelevant to the description, as it's not an anti-tunnel perk; It's a 60 second godmode. You can be downed, but you can't be acted upon further until those 60 seconds are up (excluding moris). It's a perk that has power EVEN WHEN NO ONE HAS THE PERK, because people are always going to be afraid of wasting time by 'tunneling' and getting DS'd by someone who obviously is just abusing the power they have to waste your time (or get an easy win).

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1399576#Comment_1399576

    Camping is a horrible strategy, no matter what your opinion is; it's factually going to make you lose more than it makes you win.

    Your point right there, "some which DS directly counters", completely ruins the point of the perk; it's supposed to counter toxic tunneling, or dirty plays that make the game for the survivor unfun. Instead, it counters literally EVERYTHING a killer can do to progress the game other than slug for 60 seconds unless you want a 4 second stun and another chase (which can be devastating if a survivor is near a bunch of pallets or jungle gyms). That's why you see red rank killers slugging and sometimes always going after the unhooker instead (which is the right thing to do). Even then, the unhooker could have DS and ruin the match for the killer.

    You seem to hate 'scenarios', but I'll leave you with this:

    I can be doing fantastic, and hook 2 of 3 survivors left. Because I give mercy and let 2 of them be unhooked, one survivor baits me into downing them in front of the hatch and DS's me maybe right before their DS ends. They flashlight blind me, their SWF buddies come up towards me with a key, and all quickly jump into the hatch after clicking furiously.

    Is that what you call fun? Because that's very similar to what happens at exit gates and areas with a ton of pallets. You may think that it's balanced because you use it frequently as survivor, but it isn't fun on the killer side.

    @RockoRango

    Camping is a horrible strategy if you start off by camping, but if you have a nice set up to do it (no pallets around, looping set ups) and the timing is right, it can be quite strong. Even if it is factually going to make you lose more than win, many people who camp tend to do it to make sure the survivor doesn't have a fun experience. So winning is irrelevant for the type of camping I am referring to.

    When I said DS directly counters, I meant for those 'scummy' scenarios where I personally feel that built-in mechanics are way too much, like slugging simply because you felt like it. Camping/Hovering around the hook because you want to force a survivor to hit 2nd stage. Etc

    I don't hate scenarios in particular, but I do think it's funny when someone acts like "Here is this ONE scenario" and why I think this perk is a godly perk. Well... everyone can do that with virtually any perk.

    All I am saying and why I agree with OP is that unless they actually do something about the current state of Tunneling and Camping, DS should remain as it is.
