Your example, to me at least, wouldn't necessarily be camping, but instead a form of patrolling. Personally, camping is sitting to prevent unhooking and/ or to witness the sacrifice stage and may or may not include hitting. The first time prevents screams and I actually appreciate when the killer does it, but after that it becomes obnoxious.
I do agree, however, that sometimes slugging may be necessary, like when gens are being completed too fast- this creates pressure. What I don't agree with is some of the BS that comes with it- slugging 4 at once and leaving them, slugging Survivor Number 2 and dropping them under the hook of Survivor Number 1 and guarding them both...
Yes a lot of players will crawl to a no hook zone if all 4 are slugged, but at that point do you really blame them, especially when there hasn't been a single gen done? Or even just one? And not a survivor amongst them had a perk to allow a dying state rescue at that. The way I see it, it may be a tad butt sore on both sides...
What I am saying is that the game doesn't know what "CAMPING" means, in order to implement downsides.
I'll give you an easier example. Imagine you hook the one person and the other 3 survivors come flocking at the hook... all while the killer just standing at hook. How are you suppose to implement a debuff to that killer who is simply there because he was forced there? It doesn't make any sense.
On the same page though, I do agree that flat out (intentional) camping should be at least looked at and give survivors MORE options aside from being forced to bring perks. Because then it isn't like a straight up punishment but it will also discourage it since now the killer would have to deal with another survivor built-in buff.
Just to be clear, I am actually in agreement on the fact that many killers feel like they wanna camp, simply because they can. The rest of the team being able to pop 2-3 gens in the amount of time it takes to die through a hook stage is NOT playing the game, and most certainly isn't fun for the person being a victim of this boring mechanic.
I don't think I have ever in the almost 5k hours I have in this game ever met a person that was like "Yeah I had an extremely amazing experience playing this game. My team got out while I just chilled there on the hook".
-
This map is WAY too dark and it feels like they maxed out the contrast.
Aesthetically it looks really bad.
-
Because in the right circumstances they can become essential strategies. I say this as someone who despises Slugging because it ican become borderline abusive.
I'll give you an example: Say you hook a survivor, leave hook and start chasing another survivor. The survivor being chased decides they want to go in the direction of the hook and go down suspiciously close to hook... meanwhile another survivor rushes to save (to prevent a 2nd stage). At this point the killer can use their recklessness against them and leave someone on the ground, meanwhile they never meant to "camp".
The problem is that there are WAY too many scenarios and outcomes to what accounts as "camping". Like, a killer could simply camp if they want to OR the situation presented itself where camping was "warranted".
I do agree that survivors should have more options outside of Perks in order to counter what is already considered a built-in action/mechanic. Because it isn't ok to me when a killer excessively uses these actions without ANY downside from the game itself. Like, slugging for example... if the killer has slugged for a tremendous amount of time, survivors should get a small buff on their recovery rate... etc. It doesn't even have to be anything huge, but at least it sort of feels more balanced in those situations.
-
I might be in the minority but I’m usually not even looking at the lobby screen while queuing up. I’ll be watching YouTube or getting a drink.
I guess this doesn’t bother me cuz I never really care to look. Only thing I check sometimes is if they’re friends, only because then like say I’m playing trapper i have to change my strat as far as how/when to set up traps, that’s it.
-
I can only speak from my own experience and the ones my friends have shared.
Most console players that we have encountered in our matches have an extremely "safe" way of playing. This includes red and purple ranks. Rarely are players willing to take a hit or coming back to save if the exit gates are open, with many of them only lasting a few seconds during a chase.
I know this isn't to say everyone will experience this, but after turning off cross-play, seeing the difference after is like day and night. It has been a less frustrating experience for sure.
-
I mean, every pvp type game has frustration to some extent.
-
Honestly to me after almost 5k hours I still have yet to figure it out.
Stating “do not get injured” isn’t really an answer more like a sign that he needs to be looked at. Anybody knows sometimes first hits are hard to avoid.
Oni is my least favorite killer to go against, add on the fact that 99.9% of them play the same way , he is just a snooze fest for me.
-
I’ve always thought the red bar was a weird choice to display a debuff.
First, it is not consistent with other “debuffs” like the one you get from healing against Sloppy Butcher or wiggle timer bar when wiggling against Iron Grasp. Where the bar is red.
So while yes, the bar is indicating there is a debuff, it isn’t consistent and it does the opposite of letting someone know that more than one person on a gen is better than 1.
They should have a small icon on the side, indicating our individual debuff, while making the bar yellow. That would be more clear IMO.
-
I disagree.
Not everyone has the same experience to where they would be required to bring those two perks. I use Corrupt Intervention and it gives me more than enough time to find survivors and pressure gens.
Usually I end up 4king at 1-2 gens left. Depending on how the survivors perform.
-
In a different form, sure.
In it’s current iteration, no.

that's a fair point, but I'd prefer to not have to result to tunneling every match (or most matches) to get a 4k. Adversely, I'd like as a survivor to not have to run with anti-slugging perks all the time. The point I'm trying to make here is that SWFs throw off the balance of the game and force everyone to play with the same 10 perks over and over again.
So you honestly think there aren’t solo Q teams which don’t “throw off the balance”???
Like, I think people on here give SWF WAY too much credit in regards to how it affects the outcome of a game. I can play with my SWF friends without comms and rest assured that they will be making the right calls.
The reason solo Q teams suck most of the time is because of how much they throw the game or how little they are willing to throw themselves at the killer to take aggro. Aka they are not reliable.
Even if you aren’t in a SWF you are still going to have to bring anti-slugging builds and anti-whatever. Why? Because the game itself allows killers to use these built in mechanics without hardly any downside.
Camping, Tunneling and Slugging does not require anyone to waste a perk slot.
-
Ive always been a firm believer that your health comes before any game. The choice is yours.
-
I don’t think people suggest it as a counterplay. Usually it’s just a more optimal way to avoid getting stunned later during the match. It’s a personal choice. You can say someone with BT might interfere with these chances but if you know how to play the game you will force a trade that could also potentially snowball.
EGC is not about giving you free hooks nor it is about using “camping” as a strategy. You are more than likely getting the one hook.
Slugging is the proper way of countering it. You do realize that the timer doesn’t start when they hop inside a locker right? I am not sure why you would think that unless you don’t play survivor. And if you aren’t camping and tunneling on purpose (which is how the game is meant to be played) then they won’t have 60 seconds, and more than likely if they hop into a locker they are letting you know that they have a lingering few seconds or head on is in play. Choose your next move.

I rev and then stop frequently and repeatedly. It makes me an incredibly inefficient player. However, it's fun to do imo and it doesn't make me any stronger in a chase especially at jungle gyms. So, starting to rev often is already not the optimal strategy. Then the devs go and punish players who do that, even if that player is simply tapping the button repeatedly at a survivor trapped in a corner as a taunt (I once did that since the "rework" absentmindedly and my chainsaw overheated, so I had to leave the survivor trapped in the corner until it was done, which wasn't much fun for either of us).
But more importantly, it's the roar. That sound is one of the worst in the game, and I dropped him like a hot iron as soon as I heard that for the first time.
Idk. To me he still feels the same. There are only so many times you can rev against smart survivors. I still find him fun to play for sure.
As for the roar, I feel like it’s a personal choice. I don’t mind it, but I can see others disliking it.
-
Why? O.o
-
I know I’ve never played Nurse but how in the world is Hillbilly so different than before?
More than half of the time my chainsaw hardly overheats. Sometimes I let it overheat on purpose just to see if it’s working as intended.

What? This is the most obscure thing I've seen posted today.
If somebody finds a certain killer boring to play against then what's the issue? Just scroll past and move on with your day, it isn't affecting you. Whether people find chases more fun than stealth isn't a big deal IMO.
Because didn’t you know the conspiracy theorists within these forums seem to think “boring” = “will get nerfed”. Which we all know isn’t true but 🙂.
-
I’d be fine if he was able to carry two traps at a time.... AND if his traps weren’t always in odd locations.
-
Without knowing exactly what happened during the match it is hard to give any input tbh.
I was just playing Trapper (possibly one of the worst map pressure killers) and only had Corrupt. I never overcommitted nor try to chase the same person without at least knowing a probable location of where the others were. I ended up getting at least 1-2 people before 1-2 gens were done.
I am not saying that what you are describing isn't possible, but that there are other variables to consider when that happens because in my own experience that doesn't happen too often, unless the survivors have an extremely good set up, which even then I will leave before I start to overcommit, unless I am playing someone who can shut down loops.
-
This was not with at least one slow down perk was it?

Got your DS thread planned out for tomorrow too?
Love it when you can bring out the receipts LMAO
I just have to laugh at these type of threads anymore. They are pure entertainment at this point.
-
Because it's a PvP game.
Not everyone handles loss equally, both Killers and Survivors. It has nothing to do with roles, it has to do with the player themselves.
-
The problem is that sometimes farming is necessary. Especially if the killer is camping.
So in other words, the game will not be able to tell the difference between when it’s a survivor being reckless with BT vs a survivor who is saving more than one person as a strategy to get out of sticky situations.
-
Just as Camping ans Slugging killers are boring. Survivors are forced to assume that every killer is going to abuse these mechanics.
Oh and by the way, those aren't perks. They are available every match.
You're welcome.

Because, unfortunately, it is impossible to tell server-side whether the game crashed or the player pulled the plug.
As a long-time multi-player gamer, I know how bad this feels. Crashes get reported to us, and we prioritize looking for fixes for these issues. My apologies for the crashes you have experienced. But please know that we care and are working on fixing them.
Not that I disagree with what you’re saying, but I often wonder this question:
The game itself has a “Leave Match” button, it even wants to make sure you really mean to leave by asking you again.
It seems odd to me that people are getting put on time outs based on “game occurring” crashes vs them actually selecting the option to leave. I know this is just my opinion but how come you guys arent looking into how many people are actually “pulling” the plug vs selecting the option to quit?
It seems so unreasonable that people with decent internet get punished because the system isn’t perfect in terms of being able to tell the difference.

What specifically do you mean by cheaters? SWF on comms is technically cheating and runs rampant.
Cheating is something that gets people banned. SWF is a feature in the game and isn’t cheating meaning you don’t get banned for it. Regardless of your personal views on it.
I think it’s safe to assume OP is referring to people who hack in order to cheat.

My point is that these type of threads can't be taken seriously due to how often "Tunneling" and "Camping" are used as an excuse for losing.
Ultimately what I am getting at is that the developers have probably realized this and are ignoring it because of how endlessness false claims there are on this forum.
PS. Baseline Anti camp was tried twice across two PTBs and it was abused so badly by survivors on both it ended up being removed. They have never tried it sense because of the abuse as well.
Just because you can't take them serious, doesn't mean the developers aren't. I am pretty sure this is why DS hasn't changed yet, because it only half counters hard-camping/tunneling. It doesn't even do a good job on its own.
Also, if these threads aren't your cup of tea, why try to delegitimize someone else's opinion? Camping and Tunneling have a potential to be abused, everybody knows this. You have it at your disposal in every single match. Whether you use it or don't.
-
I really hear you OP and you aren't alone.
It makes no sense to me how these built-in mechanics/options haven't been looked at. That survivors HAVE to bring a perk to sometimes barely counter them. I have literally seen people DS killers while two other survivors try to take hits, just to see that same first person get tunneled out.
But hey let's keep complaining about DS|UB|BT being so common in this game. It's not killers are going to suddenly play "nicer" simply because they see no obsession in the match. 😂
-
I’ll agree with one thing out of everything OP said.
People often like to play games you can play with OTHERS. You can’t do that as killer, and it has nothing to do with balance, just the way the game is set up.
So yeah you will see more people choosing the role that allows them to play with their friends. The Multiplayer option.
-
I just have to laugh when people use words like "Invincible and can't be touched" simply because the survivor has DS.
This is incorrect. The survivor can still go down and they can be slugged completely rendering their DS un-useable. You just have to be SMART about how you play. The game isn't intended to just be a hit n go hook type of game. You have to play smart too. This includes but it is not limited to understanding survivor perks AND outsmarting them in the ways they use them.
-
I see a lot of Claudette’s booping since they often get found while in crouched position.
😂
-
It's simple: Representation. If that reason doesn't suffice, then it is probably not for you to understand.
Dead by Daylight has stood out amongst many games due to the roster of characters who come from different cultures and backgrounds while being fleshed out through their struggles, behaviors, experiences, etc. in their lore . Queer culture is no different and has a place in the world of video games, so I don't see why it wouldn't in a game where it is obvious you are able play as characters that you could relate to.
For me personally, being someone who is into cosmetics in video games and someone who is into fashion IRL. I am super excited for what the devs can come up and how creative they can get depending on what 'themes' they introduce cosmetic-wise.
-
You're complaining about a nearly broken mechanic (slugging) because you lost one person?
You find that annoying when the survivors are forced to bring perks for your built-in mechanic?
Perhaps you haven't been slugged enough as a survivor to understand, slugging does not need a buff, it needs a debuff.
-
@megswifey said:
I think rushing anything is harsh in the game, but I don't want to seem entitled to having a chance at playing either side. Like, if I'm not even in a chase with a survivor and two or three gens pop, I get really nervous, but it's not their fault for having the method, no matter how unfun it might be. And as a survivor, I hate getting slugged at the beginning of the match because it's the fastest win. I prefer matches that take time, since it causes more tension and more adrenaline!
I think it’s safe to say that everyone prefers matches that take a decent amount of time. Not overly long but not overly short either.
The problem lies in two things. RNG and the killer/survivor’s playstyle. So if as a survivor or killer you had a bad experience in previous matches due to those two things, they are going to make sure they are better prepared next time. Depending on where they failed, whether pressuring survivors or doing gens because no one else wanted to.
That in itself creates a problem for the next opponent who might (for all we know) want to play as casual as possible. This is why I hate the amount of RNG this game has. From map set ups or lack there of ... to no one bringing DS but getting camped on first hook... or on the killer’s side not bringing slow downs and everyone has a box.

We love rational responses. Thank you for responding to that.
The amount of brain cells I lost reading it, let me unable to.
Yep I’m going to make myself a target by just being unable to unhook myself... 😂 what’s next “bring deliverance every game”? 🤣

Because on the opposite side of the spectrum there are also tools to get a survivor out of the match ASAP. So it balances out.

Camping and Tunnelling literally make you lose the game, if you get camped then you're literally winning the game for your team, and same for tunnelling (if you're bad at chase, that's your own flaws most of the time - unless the RNG is bad - but you're still allowing your team to safely do gens and get out). Sure, both camping and tunnelling are scummy things, but they're player actions that cause the killer to lose the game in the end. They're not a mechanic directly applied into the game that can be abused to all hell, which DS is.
Not everyone who camps and tunnels is doing it because they want to win the game. Regardless, if it didn’t work you wouldn’t see so many people actually relying on these strats if they weren’t working.
The fact that the only viable (if at all) way to counter this built-in ability/mechanic is via a perk slot is simply flawed.
It’s so funny to me how people like to bring up excuses such as “well your team is fixing gens” , “the killer isn’t getting any points”, etc etc which translates to: This is not how you’re meant to play the game. Yet take issue the moment someone even remotely provides a suggestion against camping and tunneling.
Like, I am not blind to the fact that DS can become problematic in very few instances. But it is so minimal in comparison to how brokenly abused the very thing that it is suppose to counter is, in the state of the game today.
Something which again is available from the start of the match and has no downside whatsoever.
-
I feel like this could be the case. None of us will ever know.
All I know is that if they somehow manage to make Chucky and Tiffany playable. This would become the greatest game I have ever played.
I could see either Human Charles and Tiffany carrying their doll versions of themselves. Just like Charlotte and Victor. It could work because even outside their dolls they still killed people.

Disrespectful comments like "see your way out" as if you actually made a point or added anything to the argument.
Your opinion is that slugging isn't balanced?
That's your opinion.
But as a killer, you have full free reign over how you decide to kill.
It's not even an issue of balance tho, you just don't like being slugged.
What are you doing to change that?
Are you bringing ub or other anti slug perks that I can't remember the names of?
Or are you just calling something "unbalanced" because it doesn't fit your personal play style?
I'm trying to add to the convo, you're just being angry.
Just because you disagree doesn’t mean it is balanced.

I never said balance was bad, I'm just pointing out that 1 killer needs enough power to face 4 survivors.
Also, it's in the title of the game.
Quit being disrespectful.
You respond to my response to someone else while calling me a “survivor main crying” simply because I state how excessive slugging is not balanced, but I am the disrespectful one.... 🤔
All while I am not a survivor main as I actually play both sides with prestiged characters and at red ranks to prove it. But go ahead and pop off about how much of a “crying survivor main I am”

Mate, you can't say slugging has no downside, c'mon.
Slugging takes more time to kill the survivor than a hook.
Slugging has no emblems, you need hooks to get them, and if you slug to kill the team in 1 or 2 hooks you are sacrificing your emblem.
There are perks that counter slug.
People picking up slugged survs takes about the same time it takes to save from hook, it only takes more if the slugged wasn't healing.
Slug is NEEDED in a heavily survivor meta, and it will get worse when they nerf undying and the other stuff they are preparing to nerf on the killer side.
Everytime a survivor ask to nerf something on the killer side, Killers have to be more and more effective and give survivors less chances to play the match, it is 100% on the community asking to nerf an already struggling side.
I never said slugging takes longer than dying on hook. Where did I say that?
I said it has no Downside. As in it is FREE pressure where one action can be done with little to no downside. I’m arguing the ability to slug so freely, I’m not comparing it to anything else.
Funny how you bring up survivor “meta” when the meta only exists because of the killer’s built in mechanics. Because I can guarantee you not everyone is keen on bringing BT or DS every match but we both know once there is no obsession it’s like a tunnel buffet for many killers.
-
I agree with you OP.
Facecamping should have an automatic downside.
For instance, I often hear “just do gens” as if that actually fixes the issue right? There should still be a downside. As in... if ALL other survivors are repairing gens and the killer is just hovering around the hook the timer on struggle should slow down too.
-
DS can get changed when camping and tunneling get changed. Period.

again the rules do not preclude slugging, nor does it preclude combining unbreakable with ds. and as I said unbreakable is not complained about by it's own, as it is not specifically overpowered. if you want to talk about unbreakable being complained about you might need want to talk about it in the way it is being complained about. I will not tell it to anyone because that is not my job, but does it matter if the killer does this at 5 gens remaining or at 0 gens remaining when it is not against the rules? use proper information when you are complaining here and move from complaining to being supportive and working to find a way to fix it and the devs will listen but might not agree with you and thus not do anything with your information as is their right. there is no reason to worry, and yes i've been slugged many times and it is irritating, but you know what? i move on and speak my mind to that killer if I can and move to the next game that is all.
I am talking about UB in the way that I have experienced it. Just because people have issue with how it combines with DS does not mean people who often complain about UB, aren’t complaining because their excessive slugging didn’t pan out as much as they wanted.
I am not arguing the “rules” behind what you can/cannot do. I am fully aware that your only timer on “Slugging”, is practically the survivors’ dying state bar. No one is arguing that it isn’t in accordance to the game’s rules.
The point is that it shouldn’t be possible to slug as much or whenever you feel like it, without any downside. Because in actuality survivors have to bring PERKS to counter a BUILT-IN mechanic, which can become borderline abused and more so with killers whose powers are encouraged to do just that.
I already expressed my concerns for allowing to happen. Just because it’s not against the rules doesn’t make it any less unbalanced.

First of all Unbreakable by itself is not a problem and not complained about on its own. it is limited in how it work and is still a good balance, it is only complained about when combined with DS where you can SLUG someone and have to wait for one minute before picking up and if left alone the unbreakable lets the survivor get back up and continue on. sure that's how the interaction works but it's weaponized by people that get off of hooks to block the killer from going after the one that removed them from the hook. and this is what is complained about and is there. now there are multiple ways to get yourself up and unbreakable is just one such tool. the complaints on the new killer is not really about it's slugging by most but by the bugs that prevents people from learning best ways to play the killer. this killer is also a body blocker too but no one has brought this up on the forums it's all about sluging this or slugging that. body blocking for short periods are allowed ie: survivors blocking the hook while the survivor on shoulder wiggles free, a bubba or billy that revs the chainsaw followed by a strike are ok, but to block in and suck everything by a mikie for T3 is too long. they expanded the basement stair because of killers blocking the escape of survivors so now this means they can be blocked again, but no one brought this up here it's only oh no!!!! I can't stand being slugged! it's BORRRRRRRING! this is the problem people are looking for problems only and not ways to help the fixes to be put in.
No unbreakable alone is not toxic or overpowered, but combined with other perks it can be part of overpowered builds. and nothing is done to the survivors meta but the killer's meta is always changing, why is that? because too many whine here.
Tell that to the killers who thought slugging at 5 gens was a good idea, but because the game “allows” them to do it they did it anyway. Yet they still complained about UB.
Point in the matter is that 4 Unbreakables aren’t going to counter the type of excessive slugging some killers are encouraged to do. It’s the reason I have come to despise Onis because 99% of them play this way.
Simply put. Out of the 10 times you can get slugged as a team, 4 are guaranteed to get you up ... that is if the killer isn’t camping your body at dying state.
-
@Freki said:
just what must be done? slugging is not against the game rules. not saying it's the best, but there are counters to slugging and you are probably one that doesn't want to change up their build to counter this. that's not the dev's problem but yours.
Slugging being a built in mechanic that can easily be abused is what the problem is.
This is the first game I have played where the killer can virtually slug when/as many times as they want with little to no downside.
This is also a problem when it just guarantees that the “meta” will never change. Which as far as I am concerned, based on complaints in these forums and even in-game ones killers feel that UB is more common than not.
Slugging should have a built-in down side when done excessively, not just because it’s annoying but because it’s healthy for the game too.
-
IMO they should balance things on a fundamental level. For instance, the reason perks like DS, BT, UB are more consistent is because they are directly but not immediately countering built-in mechanics on the killer side.
Yes you may say “but not everyone camps” and that is correct, however, you do not predict how the next killer you face will play and how much they will take advantage of these mechanics.
I am also not saying keep every perk the way it is now and balance built-in mechanics. I am saying if you want to truly shake up the meta you will have to acknowledge that there is a fundamental problem to begin with.
It would balance how heavily RNG dependent you become when you want to use “fun builds”.
-
Learn from them.
I would suggest watching other people play killer. Not to mention play survivor as well, even if just to get a different perspective.
I am not saying this will “fix” the issue of match making, but in essence if you want to get better at killer role, whether you are matched with red or your own rank, you will have to eventually understand some of the basics of playing killer.
When survivors t bag at pallets they are actually screwing themselves because they are going to lose a lot of distance by the time you break it. That’s why many of them go down shortly after. So ignore their BM by understanding how they are miss using their resources. It’s one of the things you’ll have to learn to ignore as well as killer.
