  • Yes you can.

    They counter free built-in mechanics for killers: Camping/Tunneling/Slugging.

  • You wanna know why killers face camp?

    The simple answer is because the developer team decided this would be a strategic mechanic without acknowledging the fact that to a certain extent these mechanics can be abused. So rather than give survivors more built-in options, they give them perks to counter it.

    The issue I take with it is that these built-in mechanics give (survivor) players no reason to not bring the meta or at least part of it, which is often complained about on these forums.

    So, as much as I feel you on the whole "this is a boring playstyle", don't blame the player, blame the game and it's creators.

    Yeah but after the recent events it sure does feel like another slap on our faces.

    @FreakPrince

    Which you are allowed to feel and express.

    It doesn’t mean they are killing their game, when even with all its bugs it is still thriving and growing. I am not saying that they are perfect or that I don’t have my own issues with things with about the game, but I also acknowledge that the game isn’t dead because of it.

  • @FreakPrince said:

    I’m not surprised. They are killing their own game.

    LOL

    I... yeah. What?

    It wasn’t meant to be obtained and they are correcting the issue. I don’t get what exactly is the correlation between that and then “killing” their game.

  • I’m glad they did, now players can move on to a different topic to complain about.

    Since you know this game is suppose to be “survivor-sided”.

  • @Bjario said:

    Killer small pp build has counterplay to it.

    Survivor small pp build does not. (DS,DH,BT,UB )

    @Bjario

    Except that they do.

    AND all are situational, unlike the killer combo which is guaranteed to work.

  • They probably saw Trapper and assumed it was Jason. 😂

  • @CaterPuppy said:

    I agree. The game isnt very good tbh.

    Its mostly soy boys who refer to themselves as "mains". Survivor mains mostly who have no idea they have so much advantage afforded to them its nearly skill-less to play survivor compared to killer. They feel entitled to having fun at the expense of another player (killer) and if you do anything to get in the way of them being little s**** on voice coms you are a pos. I was rank one on both sides at one time and have no desire to return. Game is dying

    @CaterPuppy

    This comment is so cringe. Don’t need I need to explain myself why.

    Also, if you have no desire to return why on earth are you still here? Aren’t there other games that aren’t “dying” that you’d rather play?

  • I don't think this behavior is something that is attached to a rank or a role. You could say that you probably see it in more experienced players because they understand the game, whereas someone who is brand new is going to try to "play the game" rather than get cocky with emotes and item usage.

    Everyone has their reason for doing whatever they do, regardless of whether it is actual gameplay or just insignificant as emoting to get something out of you. They do not care that you played "fair", they do not care that you dc. In my opinion, it is not up to you to try and dissect their behavior during the match. That is too exhausting and I would rather have fun than put myself in that situation. Don't let their bad sportsmanship get a reaction out of you, especially because it often will lead to you making mistakes.

    Just my 2 cents.

  • I just have to laugh at all the comments responding with "Whatabout DS/UB/BT?" ... 🙄

    You realize that, that is a build to counter built-in mechanics that are given to you for FREE right?

    You can critique OP's annoyance by pointing out how those are perks. The bottom line is the DS/UB combo is there for a reason. It will stay there as long as survivors have very limited choices when it comes to those bs (I repeat myself) Built-IN-mechanics.

    Survivors have to play around annoying builds like killers do. Survivors however do not have any built in mechanics to provide options in countering excessive Camping, Slugging, Tunneling.

  • I got it cuz I wanted it. One of my mains is Dweet so it was a must for me.

    Regardless of how I how to get it.

  • Does the game give you an error message or do you get any type of error message at all?

    Also, I love how people are jumping the gun and saying it’s his net. I have amazing internet and I have experienced disconnection issues before, AND been locked out. I don’t know what rock you’ve been living under but the game isn’t “perfect”.

    I experience the opposite. I get tunneled and camped SO little that I don't bring those perks. It's literally the reason I de-equipped them.

    @Ace_Ventura

    Then we just happen to have different experiences.

    I have about 4.5k hours and I can tell you it is a card that many killers will play if they see a skill disparity between them and the survivors they are facing.

  • @Ace_Ventura said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1716903#Comment_1716903

    X perks being used doesn't translate to X tactics being the reason.

    BT is, in my experienced, used for hook farming regardless of if the killer was camping or not (instasaves before the killer even had a chance to leave), and DS, again in my experience, is used offensively more then defensively. Survivors will commit to a gen, or a totem, or jump in a locker in your face just to try and bait it. Or go for an instant hook save while they still have DS knowing you have no choice but to either let them get the save in your face or grab them and eat the DS.

    @Ace_Ventura

    It is when time after time you don’t have those perks and you are almost forced to bring them. Because outside of those perks survivors do not have much of an option aside from taking hits (which good luck with getting randoms to do that for you).

    Ive been in matches where I don’t bring those two perks and I always either end up getting tunneled or someone else is.

    It may not be the only determining factor but it most definitely contributes to why people bring those perks.

  • Very common. It’s why perks like BT and DS are more common.

  • The cages system is one of the most broken things in this game.

    I play PH and it seems rather odd that they stopped allowing him to see the aura of cages, but now they get a notification when someone saves off the cage. Like to me, this is unreasonable because it just further encourages a tunnel without the survivor being able to do much.

    I still don’t understand why this hasn’t been changed.

  • For me the whole topic of OoO is a separate issue because I feel that the perk is badly designed for different reasons, so aside from that I do agree with what you are saying.

    I say this as someone who plays both sides consistently. I see people bringing strong 'things' against my very average 'things', and then when I bring strong 'things', they don't. It's almost like a gamble, but I agree on the mindset needing to change.

    Basically all you need to do understand each side, and that maybe... just mayyyyybe that team you just went up against that you thought was playing 'sweaty' just got slaughtered after bringing simple perks while the killer brought moris for all of them and tunneled them and camped.

    Don't get me wrong, some plays are annoying on both sides, and I will from time to time express that annoyance, but I think to sit there and act like your side always plays without strong things is hypocritical.

  • Honestly I don’t care about the exclusivity part.

    I just think the way they are being given out is flawed. Some streamers aren’t very specific about how/when they give them out. I went to watch someone for the very first time and asked about it and their answer was simply “when I feel like it”. Not only did I not follow, but just made me annoyed because I only have so much time ( I have a busy schedule) but I was just so put off by that.

    I’m not trying to name and shame anyone but I think the way this was implemented was very unorganized. I just want it because I am a Dweet main :/ it’s not like I’m hounding them for it.

    This Claudette got stuck inside a chest while downed, and when I stood there I just started at her, trying to get her out, until other came along.

    At first, they didn't know what I was doing, I was trying to get them to look at the Claud, but they kept running.

    Then, they started booping my snoot, and it was the most wholesome thing in dbd, the survivors let themselves all die in the egc because I let them boop it.

    @MusicNerd_TC

    Lol that’s cool... I love when they run away and all of a sudden they understand you mean no harm and they start popping out of bushes like...

  • Except when they have Franklins Demise.

    Cus then you are relieved it didn’t go to waste. In general you are much better strategizing by bringing Prove Thyself IMO. You get more value out of it.

  • Personally I feel that it is very meta.

    When I play killer I find more people have SB than any other exhaustion perk.

  • It’s a big, it will be fixed.

    keep daydreaming though. 😄

  • She gets more kills because too many people trying to boop her snoot only to find out it was a trap all along and end up dying.

    ok I kid.. I kid 😂

  • Thank you for summarizing what a lot of of us are feeling at the moment. 🙏

    I have been in different forums from different games, and through my journey I have seen the developers who really never even once tried to at least fix something, especially when it was about events.

    I don’t agree with everything the devs do, but I express it in the same respectful manner that I would want to be treated.

    PS. I am still fighting for my Dwightcrow cuz I got to have it, but my hours at work are crazy so I keep trying! 😜 Wish me luck

    A little bit confusing to follow this part of thread but I think I understand where both of you are coming from, for the most part.

    Unfortunately there are always going to be players on both sides that are always going to sweat, bring the most powerful meta perks and treat the other side as "the enemy" rather than just other players.

    The more of the game I play the more I'm realising that the only people that really suffer in this deadlock are the newer players or people that are just trying to enjoy the game, goofing around with a couple buddies, experimenting with off-meta perks and builds and just trying to improve their skills in either role without the need of being to told you did well by the world's jankiest ranking system.

    For some people the best way to deal with this problem is also bring the most powerful things they can, hope for the best but expect the worse from their opponents. Others choose to continue as normal and try to ignore all the negativity the cycle thrives on.

    I think majority of people just stop playing and they might be better for it tbh

    @ThatLukoriusGuy

    Agreed. You only really need to play both sides to understand each side.

    The game will always suffer from how heavily RNG-based it is. Because you could bring (as you said) an off meta build on either side, but be met with the most meta builds out there. Not to mention maps might not help your case because you might get one that has set ups that are very survivor-sided unless you get lucky and don't.

    I think for me some of the biggest factors that are to blame, are built-in mechanics. Take Camping for example. There is very little survivors can do without the right perks... I say this as someone who has died plenty of times saving that one person who didn't even get to play the game. Because the moment the killer saw there was no obsession they were there to tunnel many times. So while I am not saying all survivors do this, some are just tired of being camped to that extent. So for me they would have to re-work some of these built in mechanics where survivors have more options outside of perks and then perks can get adjusted/nerfed/changed accordingly. This would open up more build options and break the meta if even a little. Until then, this is where we are in this game.

    PS. For the record I don't like OoO, not because of what it does, but because there is really no risk factor in most interactions between the killer and the survivor. In many ways you could say it serves it's purpose, but it really comes down to the type of killer you are facing. If it's someone who can't get there in seconds (Hillbilly, Spirit, Nurse) It takes away the danger that is suppose to come with the perk IMO.

    Nice strawman you have there. I never claimed Killers have the right to bring strong addons regardless of survivor teams. I only pointed out that survivors are hypocrites. I never claimed killers didn't have kits that are op.

    @CosmicParagon

    This is what you said about survivors, which is what I originally responded to:

    Untitled Image

    That to me shows bias. Why? Because killers do it too. Bring a Key? Oh gotta bring a mori. Suspect swf? Bring an Ebony. Etc etc. One could go on.

    I never said you claimed that killers have a right to bring whatever... I said that your comments (meaning your quoted comments) reek of this notion that survivors are somehow suppose to give the killer a break when they don't even know who they are facing and under what conditions.

    Do you know how many times survivors have brought 'fun' builds and killers have brought all meta perks? Plenty of times.

  • Dunno why anyone would want to be on the forums and not play the game.

    Literally have better things to do if I move on from a game.

  • @CosmicParagon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1699370#Comment_1699370

    It's an objective fact, and I can prove it.

    Killer perks first:

    1. PGTW: requires you to hook a survivor
    2. STBFL: Requires you to succesfully hit and chase survivors 8 times to reach full potency
    3. Dying Light: requires hooks
    4. Devour: requires hooks AND forbids camping
    5. MYC: Requires hooks and forbids camping
    6. Thana: requires succesful hits
    7. Sloppy: requires succesful M1 hits
    8. Ruin: requires you to pressure survivors off of gens
    9. BBQ: requires a hook, and discourages camping by not showing nearby survivors
    10. Blood Warden: requires you to down and hook survivors while the gate is open, and only is a death sentence if you time it very well
    11. NOED is the only outlier I can think of, and it requires M1 hits

    Survivor perks, by comparison:

    1. DS:get downed, hooked, then downed AGAIN
    2. Dead Hard: lose a chase and get injured
    3. Unbreakable: get downed
    4. Balanced Landing: just fall from a height
    5. Sprint Burst:Literally no requisite
    6. Lithe: hop through a window
    7. OoO: literally no downside if you can loop well
    8. Borrowed Time: literally requires an unsafe rescue
    9. Adrenaline: one of only 3 perks that require success/skill(all gens being done)
    10. Deliverance: requires a safe unhook, also rewards success
    11. Head On: requires being able to plan ahead to avoid just getting yoinked, rewards skill

    @CosmicParagon

    I didn't need an explanation because I was responding to your notion that somehow survivors bring 'crutch' perks when the killer does the same thing.

    Like, somehow survivors are wrong for bringing strong things but killers get a 'pass'. It's the most biased response I have ever heard, which is why I think it's absurd.

    Yes it does. Do you really believe if they are trying to change huntress to fit their standard they won't change michael either? Thats highly unlikely. Now realize this. Everything i have said on the michael add on pass that may be coming is an estimated guess. Not fact Overexaggeration is not how i would describe my estimated guess on what they would do but go off.

    @ToxicMyers

    Ok but that is your opinion in the way YOU interpreted what they said.

    They never straight up said they are going to touch Michael, let alone nerf him. He is actually one of the few killers that requires skill, why on earth would they touch him? The add ons comment comes from people who feel that his add ons could use a pass, and even then he inserted an "IF".

    I understand that you are passionate about this killer, but you literally have "But now they said michael is going to be nerfed." in your first sentence.

  • @ToxicMyers said:

    Wrong info? They said earlier they would look at huntresses add ons because she was one of the 2 killers who didn't fit their standards. Low and behold myers is the other. I also editted my post to explain my point better. Good day

    @ToxicMyers

    So what? Them mentioning Huntress has nothing to do with relation to what they said about Michael.

    You are stating an opinion and overexaggerating at that... with the whole "Sad Goodbye". They never even mentioned the word nerf.

  • @ToxicMyers said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1699381#Comment_1699381

    It's a guarantee they are going to rework his add ons. Him and huntress are the only killers who don't fit their standard meaning they will be changed, how hard is that to understand. Everyone knew he was getting an add on pass, no one knew if he was going to be buffed and now we do. Checkmate

    @ToxicMyers

    Wrong. They said IF he gets anything... meaning it is not guaranteed he will. It would be an add on pass which as a Michael Myers main I agree, his add ons are a bit dated considering when he came out.

    But don't take my word for it. I just wish you would stop spreading the wrong information. They are happy with his basekit.

    They said they would look at his add ons if they did, meaning an entire nerf, or a addon pass

    They didn't say they were going to. Were you watching the same stream as everyone else?

    They only answered the question because some people (on these very forums) feel like he needs to be buffed. They answered the question with a simple "No". They feel he is in a good spot.

    Do his add ons need a bit of love? Yes they do. Which is why they said IF (meaning if at all) they would give him an add on pass but that's it.

  • This is far from the truth. They are not touching Michael is what they said.

    "We need to bring crutch perks because killers bring OP addons and perks!"

    "Why should we not play sweaty just because the killer doesn't have OP perks and addons?"

    @CosmicParagon

    Putting the OoO topic aside.

    This is true though? Why should I feel bad for bringing strong things when the killer doesn't give a bleep about bringing strong things of their own? It's a two way road.

  • "And they’ve over saturated the bloodweb so you hardly ever get any petals."

    Wait. Really? I just got like 2 petals per bloodweb back to back.

    ^^^

    this. and it's what I mean when I'm baffled at things like the gate healing. Especially in a scenario where they have gotten injured near the gate and they still sit down to heal and teabag while Deathslinger reloads. I had high ranks that still healed and teabag when I missed that shot and reloaded again.

    Why? The amount of points for late heals isn't that high...

    @MeltingPenguins

    I’m an avid Deathslinger supporter (you can check out my posts) and While I agree with your comment, I am also able to look at the other side, and the problem for me is that you can’t blame survivors ( too much) for only being able to play against him one way.

    Not when the devs’ way of changing the interaction between killer vs survivor is creating things like breakable walls and giving survivors more pallets at very unsafe loops. Where a Deathslinger would basically just feel them around the pallet.

    I think that is my biggest gripe about this game right now, it’s the way the developers introduce something different, because they don’t look at the full spectrum of how something is going to affect gameplay. It’s the problem I see with Deathslinger especially in maps with entire dead zones.

    The game has literally become very RNG dependent when it comes to countering certain things for both sides.

  • This is the one map that I feel they need to rework from the ground up. It doesn’t even look that great aesthetically.

    I keep wondering though if the fact that it is a licensed map means we’ll be waiting a while. I hope I’m wrong.

  • I’ve gone against that before. It’s not easy but I still try to play it. I mean, giving up is far from an option for me.

    It’s harder to mind game at loops but it’s doable. Idk I honestly think it just depends on the skill levels of the players. I have found very bad players trying to pull this off and the fact that I can see they ends up biting them in the behind in the end.

  • As disappointed as I am that Michael might not be included in the archives, I still hold out hope that something could be worked out with the license. I’m guessing that is why he along with Pig cannot be obtained via shards.

  • I feel like I agree the game needs to evolve but being realistic here, I don’t see the devs including any of those ideas to have multiple killers vs survivors. For some reason I feel like that is not something they are legit interested in doing.
