  • I often wonder what these threads aim to achieve.

    The game is far from perfect, but quitting because you had a couple of bad games just makes you a quitter. It’s that simple.

  • Personally I have been advocating for a perk that rewards you for running the killer for x amount of time.

    I actually thought this is how DS should have worked in a way, for those instances where you have practically been chased the entire match.

    I think to balance your idea more, I would make it so you aren’t allowed to drop pallets, or at least limit them, because depending on the set up multiple pallets being present would almost make it less rewarding. I know it’s kind of a hard thing to balance because you also have areas where pallets are so unsafe they don’t really make a difference.

  • Many of them stream, so yes.

  • Use whatever perks you want, they don’t justify why they have to borederline abuse their built in mechanics, so why should you for using perks?

    I run DS a lot because killers have the option to tunnel in every match. Regardless of who or if anyone has DS.

  • We should make him teleport to gens and— nvm.

    On paper probably not, but I would rather they buff and not overtune like they did Freddy. Though Trapper’s power may sound simple it isn’t also weak, if the pressure is already there. I would think setting time needs to be looked at because sometimes it aggravates me that the game wants the “perfect” spot whenever I’m setting traps near an obstacle. I know it’s only seconds but they add up.

    This entire discussion is dumb. Even when we pretend for a second that more then 3 people in this forum consider to change their opinion after this discussion.

    You just cant measure the balance of this game clearly with the catastrophic matchmaking system.

    Then you have 1000 variables which can influence a match. Addons, maps etc.

    I have for example no idea how someone can say killer are op. There is such a huge difference between the 22 killer. You need to specify more.

    @TicTac

    Bravo! Someone who actually bothers to understand balance beyond just “Game is not balanced because SWF”

    For me the game is too heavily RNG-based to make it balanced let alone nit-pick one thing when it is much more broader than that. People think that comms provide an advantage yet disregard bad maps, abusive mechanics/ tactics being in play, and sometimes even their own lack of skill (Yes you can win against swf but if you lack skill you would have lost either way).

    This game will shut down, and people will still be wondering why it isn’t “balanced”.

  • So let me get this straight... if a killer dcs and I am playing survivor it is my fault? Oh. Ok.

    I wonder if the same theory applies to survivors who dc. Oh no, cuz in that case they were just salty and got outplayed. Amirite?

    someone I merely game with and someone who will help me move are 2 different things. Someone who can call in the middle of the night because the car broke down or they had to much drink. Big diff between IRL friend and “survivor with friends”. Let’s call it what it is, arranged team. That’s what they were called before this “friends” non-sense the consoles are shoveling. What does a honest criticism of some lame, corporate manufactured label have to do with being hurt. Come on now, 2 parrots with the same response. Try to concoct an original response at least or just go on to another thread.

    @scottymo

    For context to your own thread.

    You were the one who brought up irl scenarios. So now all of a sudden the responses sound ridiculous? Like what kind of response were you expecting?

    You are taking the word “friend” too literal. It’s quite simply as playing with someone you can count on to have your back. Aka a friend.

    poor thing, 3000 posts on here.... you must really not have much relevancy in your actual life so you try to find it here. The only place people remotely pay attention to you

    @TheeclumsyNinja

    Don't feel bad for me, I have a great life irl.

    My post count is just indication of how invested I am in a game that I love.

    You know... the game that you’re quitting at 147 comments, because they are nerfing a perk. 😊

  • I don’t mind players who play stealthy as long as they are productive and not hindering everyone else’s escaping options by either being too stealth or too scared to get in chase once in a while.

  • @TheeclumsyNinja said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1907314#Comment_1907314

    Speaking of coddling when was the last time a strong survivor perk got nerfed?

    No killer has an average of 3 kills per match, they’re all at 2 or less, but when they keep nerfing killer perks that are apparently OP to baby survivors in green ranks we just need to keep quite.

    Go to bed kid

    @TheeclumsyNinja

    ”Go to bed kid”

    ha! Classic and weak response tbh.

    You do realize that 2 kills is the devs aim for right? For a 2 kill average. Sorry to burst that bubble of yours.

    The perk was not OP for me but making an observation about how dumb this perk was for killer “players” who carry a big skill gap, apparently stung you. My bad.

  • Yeah I would go grab a bite to eat with them especially if I knew I could count on them when they saved me from a hook and didn’t chicken out last min.

  • Are you sure you didn’t mean to type “devs GOT a back bone and stopped coddling bad killers who needed to hit the snooze button on Ruin”.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1906609#Comment_1906609

    But survivor perks have been made specifically to counter those strategies. Could you imagine killers getting actual counters to gen rushing, early dropping pallets, etc?

    @danielmaster87

    Yeah it would be nice wouldn’t it.

    I mean, If only a perk called Corrupt Intervention and Pop Goes the Weasel ...existed.

    Or a perk called Spirit Fury, which unlike DS or UB would work more than once!

    Yes.. if only. 😧

  • There is a psychological reason. It’s called I have no idea what I am doing so let me go ahead and take out the one I know will go down easy, because the game lets me do so without a downside.

  • You forgot Camping, Tunneling and Slugging.

    Oh wait, they are not perks.

  • It is note-worthy that many killers, I mean MANY think they are being gen-rushed just as survivors think they are being tunneled. When in fact that safe pallet you refused to break... cost you. That heal you decided to perform right underneath the hook because you thought the killer was going to find someone else but didn’t... cost you.

    So with that in mind, they might share similarities, but for me tunneling at it’s core is purposely (regardless of what outcome you want in your match) is targeting one person specifically completely ignoring the others throughout the match. Gen-rushing on the other hand, does not become that unless you came prepared for that. I mean every survivor stacking Prove Thyself, all loaded on BNPs, letting teammates die due to ignoring a heal that was much needed. In other words you can’t claim either if none of those two took place.

  • @landromat said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1905933#Comment_1905933

    so maybe it's better to make 1 version less strong and second less horrible? So bus is always fair and fun to run

    @landromat

    In a perfect world that is how it would work. Which is another reason I despise breakable walls. They either screw the survivor or the killer, instead of creating a dynamic in which both parties are engaged and invested while getting an experience.

    There are too many things where the balance solely falls on RNG.

  • Bus is balanced IMO, there is a horrible version of it for survivors. So at this point blame it on RNG.

  • I think it’s mainly the killers that are a magnet to the stun that have an issue with it.

    I also hardly ever see it. Dare I say I see more people running self care, than DS. lol 😂

  • Token # 6 The entity immediately pulls you into the sky and kills you.

  • Problem with requests like this is that many killers DO appreciate the hits. Especially if it’s for ritual purposes.

    So it’s kind of hard to tell without knowing that type of killer you are. Usually if I want them to leave I just switch to YouTube and watch something so I’m not just waiting for nothing to happen.

  • @JPA said:

    No because perks like BT render his camping largely useless.

    If Bubba hooks a single survivor, the remaining 3 can repair most if not all gens before someone dies off a first hook. Camping Bubba is only so effective because of people going for unsafe hooks.

    @JPA

    BT doesn't do anything against a good camping Bubba, unless you are nearby a structure or good spot.

    Not only that, but a lot depends on his add-ons.

  • I had a Feng yesterday who was running around my hook, got exposed by a Michael, and immediately unhooked me without BT before going down by my hook.

    I could not understand for the life of me why she did that. It was like she the expose sound was her queue to unhook?

    🤦🏽

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1897932#Comment_1897932

    Well I feel ds should be anti-tunnel, if you can heal and then work on a gen you are freely up to be chases and put pressure on, like if survivors are aggressively pushing gens the killer should need to be hit by DS especially after you have hooked others etc. Just leave a bitter taste when you're trying to play fair regardless and still get punished. Like I'll hardly ever slug and I'll play all killers etc. But its honestly just not fair with the sort of skilled players I get, when everyone knows loops and can run them well with meta perks it's all abit much to still have fun and play in a fun way that's all.

    @EntitySpawn

    As much as I hate to say it, it is bound to happen.

    It happens when survivors don’t immediately unhook in front of the killer’s face, only to have the killer come back as soon as the icon goes from hooked to unhooked. Now that survivor will be forced to be slugged simply for playing “fair”.

    All I am saying is that if touching a gen is going to deplete DS, then seconds idling at a hook needs to give survivors a repair buff. Because it has to be a two way road.

  • I agree!

    I’ve been advocating for this too, they could introduce another item “Axe”. It could be interesting.

    Im pretty positive they will do it in the future 😄

  • @EntitySpawn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1897709#Comment_1897709

    I'd be okay with them keeping DS even after being healed, it's the gen issue that bothers people that's it. Touch a gen and its deactivated so you can't actively progress the game while technically being invincible it just seems unfair. Like I said I'm all for balance and against tunneling etc. Its why I'd be okay with a bigger stun to punish tunnelers but it's kinda unfair to cross the map after hooking someone to see on a gen, you chase and pick them up but get hit by DS. Time is important at high skill games and with mmr itll be needed

    @EntitySpawn

    I get what you’re saying, I just think that it is also unfair that a survivor who just got unhooked loses their DS just by touching a gen. There should still be some type of timer involved.

    Imagine the survivor got on a gen and the killer decides they want to break chase with the next person being chased.

    The perk itself was never meant to strictly be an anti-tunnel perk because it doesn’t even stop the tunneler. I play killer as well and when I get stunned they have to be very lucky with a set up because normally they go down in 10 seconds after the stun.

    I honestly wish the perk was more dynamic. This is why I like how Friday the 13th sets up their knife stuns. You actually have to find them.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1896544#Comment_1896544

    Well my choice was to buff the stun on ds so tunnelers are hit harder, I also encourage as much as possible to not camp. Someone even in this thread compared DS to BBQ... like no. I want balance and I dont support camping etc. I have also suggested BT be on a range to stop stealth camping, but that's not what I'm talking about on this thread.

    @EntitySpawn

    The problem is that this game isn’t able to tell when someone is using DS as a strat vs because they felt they could. Just like with Camping/Tunneling.

    So you could have a scenario where someone gets unhooked, killer comes back, tracks them down and by that point they might be getting healed nearby in a corner or started working on a gen... which if theoretically we went by your rule of touching a gen that would still negate the perks core purpose.

    It’s the same thing with Camping, sometimes it’s a necessary evil, but the game cannot understand between legit hardcore camping vs Camping because they saw two survivors nearby.

    Personally if it bothers people that much, I think they should base it on heal. So if someone gets back to full health they can deactivate DS as much as they want because by that point even if the killer came back to tunnel in some form, the survivor still had another chance. Without the hindering leftover timer.

  • Steve stood out in Season 2 and 3.

  • You're allowed to voice your opinion as far as I am concerned. Who cares what biased killers think?

    Think for yourself. Undying/Ruin is just as annoying as DS/UB is. There I say, I think it "buys" those killer players (yes players, not killers) the time they need, because of their skill level.... and would otherwise take twice the amount of time they normally would need to down someone.

    It's like a snooze button on Ruin.

  • Untitled Image

    And on the flip side you have killers who don't respect unhooks. Because they feel they don't have to deal with DS since there is no obsession icon.

    Look. You just can't keep preaching about "DS changes" if you can't even bring yourself to bringing up HOW Camping and Tunneling are ALSO a problem. Not to mention they don't require a perk with a timer. They are built-in actions/mechanics that are available in every single match. Yet you don't hear survivors complaining about how they are used as "strats".

    DS is fine as it is.

    I meant camping. I'm on my phone and sometimes the wrong words pop out. And I'm telling u at best the response from the survivor community is that it's a step in the right direction but it's not solving the issue. At worst ppl will say it does nothing and it's a pointless mechanic.

    @Terro

    Oh I agree, it doesn't solve the issue, because solving the issue would mean giving that sacrificed survivor more options.

  • @Terro said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1896432#Comment_1896432

    Too lenient. How often will you have the rest of the living survivors doing that in solo queue? If they were already doing gens in the first place calling wouldn't have done much anyways.

    @Terro

    How often? VERY often.

    Many of the solo queue teammates I have found are not going to risk their own lives to force a trade or even attempt to unhook for that matter. I've seen many of them come by and run away.

    Not sure I understand what you mean by "calling" but if they were already doing gens, that's fine, at least one or two people are going to leave their gen to try to get the unhook. Thus losing time they didn't know they needed because of a killer abusing their own mechanics.

  • Deliverance.

    You should be able to unhook yourself at either first or second hook. Either way... you earned your unhook.

  • @Terro said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1896422#Comment_1896422

    The problem with an idea like that is that nobody will be happy with it. It'll either be way too strict on what camping is or be too lenient and has little to no effect.

    @Terro

    So, be more specific... what about it do you think people will not be happy with?

    The mechanic would literally require every survivor to continue holding M1, which is what the previous experiment never did. If no survivors are around the hook, there is absolutely 0 reason for the killer to be remain there.

  • OP - You are definitely right about something, Camping does ruin the game for many players and certainly for the one playing the role of the "sacrifice"... no longer a survivor who got to play the game.

    I'm not going to shrug off your ideas, because you see... nobody on here ever bothers to ask what can be done about that one individual who never (technically) got to play the game. I fully understand that the game isn't designed for all survivors to survive. However, it also shouldn't be designed so that a person just remains on a hook, practically idle because a killer decides to abuse a mechanic that exists in the game solely to boderline abuse and bully others, behind a facade of "It's a legit strat". When, if you have played killer you know it isn't always a strat. You can and some people will camp without their match calling for this strat.

    Ask yourself this question, why on earth would devs even entertain the idea of providing a buff during abusive camping if they didn't feel there was a need to fix it? Doesn't it seem weird that they went from "Let's see if this will help" to "Oh nvm, it can be abused, it's fine as it is"..... rather than providing other alternatives....?

    For example: let's take their own 'attempt' and modify it. If a killer is hardcore camping while ALL survivors are holding M1 on a generator (meaning the killer isn't even trying to go elsewhere) the struggle timer will be slowed down. This works for 2 reasons, it gives the other survivors a fair chance at finishing gens (whether the killer has or doesn't have slow down perks). Many times people on here want to claim that "survivors should just do gens"... clearly they don't play enough survivor to understand that sometimes there isn't enough time due to slow down perks and also do not take into consideration that in solo queue NONE of the survivors know the killer is camping, at least not right away. Finally, this also prevents from survivors being able to abuse the mechanic, because the game will know when someone isn't on a generator.

    I do have to also agree with you on the traps situations. Mainly for Hag because I do play Trapper and I believe his traps cannot be set right next to a hook, like Hag's can.

    Just know that those of us who aren't clinging on a "bias" because we play both sides... hear you. I am sure the devs have something planned, especially if DS is getting neutered in some form in the future.

    As a final thought, for those who constantly ask why the meta stays the same. THIS is why. You have people like OP who probably never brought any meta perks probably combining those perks as we speak. because once you have been in that hole many times you want to have an opportunity for more options the next time you find yourself in that same situation.

  • This is why I much prefer SWF.

    Because not only map and killer's playstyle is at stake when it comes to the RNG you are about to be met with, but your teammates' skills or lack there of as well.

    i just checked one of their profiles on steam, he's got ~2500 hours. the other one, playtime is not public but he's got many comments about dead by daylight on his profile. so it's not unlikely that they are a good squad. it would be stupid to assume that they are trash when they have that many hours. furthermore, you're also assuming they're bad, but i have a basis. beyond this match's context, in a hypothetical situation with a good squad with these exact perks and items, killer is unlikely to win especially with bubba.

    one of them had borrowed time

    @viden

    When you have put in enough killer hours, and you want to present an opinion based on a match you just had.... you understand that context matters when you make claims about "This is why the game is trash".

    First off, they dc'd which already just tells me that he gave up (Had a couple of those yesterday). You can be a good killer and still lose, OR you can be a bad killer and still lose against bad survivors, because of variables such as survivor-sided Map RNG, or your own lack of skill.

    I wasn't assuming they are bad, I was letting you know that they could have been either way. I am not saying "THIS IS HOW IT IS" which is what you are doing. You are saying unless anyone plays Nurse and/or Spirit they don't stand a chance, which is completely false.

    Oh and by the way, people can still be bad even with thousands of hours.

    the perks, the 4 crossplay icons, instaheal. if they truly are a loaded swf squad you're just not going to win without nurse, spirit, or blight with meta perks. and i have never witnessed a 4 solo team pick 4 objects, so this is likely a squad.

    @viden

    I'm sorry, what? No offense, but you are giving more context on a match, more than the OP themselves who simply posted an image of the results of a match? That's not how it works.

    Regardless of your opinion on OoO, you are describing a scenario which probably never happened. How do you know they actually did well where it mattered? Some survivors with OoO are some of the dumbest survivors out there. Good at evading from a distance, but bad during a chase.

    It would be also good to point out, NONE of them had BT. Not saying I condone this but they wouldn't have had a chance against a camping Bubba.

  • @Chilli_man2400

    Everybody knows he isn't trash. He still strong as he was. Just without broken add ons.

  • What are you changing to the current Camp/Tunnel mechanic to compensate?

    Also, you can still be a target even when you touch a gen, totem, hook. All a killer has to do is wait for you to do one of those actions.

    Hmm,i guess that's just preference at this point.

    But i think it would help the devs if they would be a bit more transparent about things like colorblind modes.

    That way the community would feel acknowledged and be more understandable even if they fail to implement it as long as they explain why.

    @OniWantsYourMacaroni

    I understand what you mean.

    I am going off of things like when they said they were going to introduce a “trial warm up” about a year ago, and now people are getting bent up about that because they are either impatient or just flat out don’t understand how working on games works.

    I don’t know why they don’t share everything but my personal feeling/opinion is that they don’t keep secrets because they don’t want to share. The fact that they showed a visual along with the colorblind feature announcement just shows that they wanted to share a visual... meaning they didn’t wanna just tell us about it. Which if you’ve noticed they often do that.

    @Gore_Nargai

    Killers who didn’t tunnel right from the survivor’s unhooked stage, and only waited for like 10 seconds while DS was depleted while they were in a locker say “hi”.

    Im guessing you didn’t bother to read the context of a response to another forum user. You just grabbed whatever response you read and responded to it.

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

    Imagine if they had announced that color blind feature was coming soon, only to later find out they weren’t able to make it possible.

    I would be extremely surprised if they wouldn't be able to implement colorblind mode.

    Also,it's much better to hear they are trying to work on it than getting absolutely 0 info.

    @OniWantsYourMacaroni

    Its hard to say what they can/cannot work on considering we don’t have any idea of what goes on behind the scenes.

    I would rather be surprised than let down because they “promised” something and didn’t deliver. Having played other games where developers also seemed secretive about what they worked on, I am just assuming that is the reason for not sharing what is deemed as not ready to be shared.

    This doesn't really answer the question of how I can hook a survivor, spend about 1 minute chasing others while that first survivor gets unhooked, chase another for 30 seconds. Find the first survivor 20 seconds after that... down them, pick them up - nearly a full 2 minutes after I did anything to them - and get punished by an "Anti-Tunnel perk".

    I've literally left the moron alone for around 2 minutes! What more do you want from me?

    Funny too: literally the one good thing your new UI could do was let the killer know who has been hooked - y'know, to help remember crap like this - and you decide to not let the killer see that information and keep it Survivor-Side only. 🤣🤣🤣

    @UMCorian

    Because it is not strictly an anti tunnel perk. This has been stated a thousand times on the forums.

    You are not getting “punished” you are just not playing to counter the perk. So you eat the stun instead. That is a choice you made.

    Also your scenario doesn’t even make any sense. DS’ timer begins when the survivor is unhooked. So if we follow your own scenario, the first hooked survivor should have 10 seconds left of their DS timer. It only last 60 seconds not 120 like you are trying to claim.

    This is a problem that I hope you @Almo and your team are also keeping into consideration because there seems to be a big segment of players that just flat out refuse to learn how to counter the perk.

1 … 60 61 62 63 64 … 116
