But the difference between him and Pyramidhead is that PH doesn't give you an extra health state to play with when you get hit with his power. Nemesis can slap a survivor across a pallet, but it's not going to cause damage on the first attempt, and the hitbox is so goddamn small that you're just as likely to dodge it as to get hit. Nerfing his ability to close loops would definitely be taking away one of the only things making him playable. If they nerf that, they'd better get rid of the extra health state and vaccines as well.

Also, again, survivors have been handed some pretty broken-ass perks with this update. I don't think that is a bad thing, either, necessarily - they make the game more fun. But, Christ, nerfing Nemesis is a terrible idea.

the vaccines are limited so half way through the match, all survivors are at least infected anyways and I don't believe you can say the survivor perks are broken when the most power perks (flashbang and blast mine) can both be easily countered with lightborn. Throw in the additional RNG with the zombies cutting off loops and getting free hits/downs on survivors it won't take long before there are dozens of nemesis mains dominating the red ranks.

  • IMO here is why nemesis should be nerfed. There is zero mindgame to him. This was the same issue with pyramid head when he first released. You would M2 and drag your blade, but the survivor had no idea whether or not you would throw your ability or simply m1 for the easy hit. It's the exact same with Nemesis. When attempting to loop him, if it's a short wall, he can simply hit you over it and there is no counter play to it. This is the same reason why as PH you have a small delay when you swap between your M2 and M1 ability. BHVR has gotten really REALLY bad as of late with making killers that just plow through survivors with no counter play other than to just gen rush.

When Playing as Nemesis, I can easily whip someone and continue the chance, if they stay at the current loop and don't drop a pallet, it's an easy hit. If they do drop the pallet, I break it super fast then catch up.

You may not want to listen to forum members when it comes to legal advice. I would recommend you to first check with BHVR on whether you need permission to host a competition for money (Some games require users to get permission beforehand). You will find a lot of internet lawyers (not real lawyers) who more often than not can put you in a bad position with their "advice." So my advice: Consult people who actually have a say (BHVR) on whether there are any restrictions to hosting a tournament with monetary requirements/pay outs of their game.

that's a fair point, and I have checked out the tournament section of the forums. I have seen no pinned messages from BHVR stating you need to ask for permission or that you can't take an entry fee. TBF I'm ok with just doing a tournament with no entry fee but I assumed folks would like the increase in the prize pool.

Nice, MMR would be implemented, super, if you're good, in a few games you'll met the sweatier killers or SWF, being pretty decent will reward you with giving super hard games. And as a good survivor, you'll met only top tier killers, Oni, Hag, Spirit, Nurse, Freddy. I don't want, if I'm good, to go to harder and harder games, sweatier and sweatier games, and I don't want to lose to have healthier/funnier games.

Ranks are inaccurate, and that is actually good, because it can put you with a lot of different players in term of level. So queuing time is shorter. With MMR, it would be accurate, the matchmaking will tend to put you with players with a very similar skill scores you have, reducing the amount of player you can play with.

Do you really want that ?

As a survivor, do you really want to go against same killers over and over ?

As a killer, do you really want to go against super effective teams or sweaty solo survivors over and over ?

I'm sorry, but Dead By Daylight must have TWO matchmaking :

    • Quick Game, with the current Rank System, and even larger tagging.
    • Competitive Game, with MMR, and skill score (also named ELO I think ?)

Dead By Daylight is a unique experience in term of gaming, I don't want it to become a freaking hard competitive StarCraft like matchmaking, I love this game because I play, I'm not working to be the best player, and I bought it, and play to this game because it's a cool game, a COOL game.

If the game becomes competitive, I'm sorry, but I'll quit.

I already meet the sweatier killers or SWF as a red rank survivor/killer. MMR does nothing for me except increase the level of my team when I'm playing as a survivor. If your not wanting the game to be competitive, I suggest not pipping past yellow ranks or throwing games to make sure you stay at lower MMR.

  • This says the new MMR system will come out soon, they have said the same thing about cross progression with Nintendo and look where that's gotten us.

  • @Mooks Thank you for the info

Naw, I don't mind SWF, and im a killer main. I took on a well coordinated purple rank SWF yesterday as legion without meta perks (I ran thana, nurses calling, discordance and tinkerer) and they only got 1 gen done. Once you realize they are swf, yiu have to play a bit differently. This is how i change it up:

-I stop feeling bad for tunnelling, because the point of me tunnelling isn't to get the player sacrificed, its to cause other members of the team to focus on protection instead of gens.

-The more the person has been hooked, the more likely another survivor or possibly multiple will abandon their objectives to try and body block. I make them run as a group for a bit until im in a good position to hit the body blocker and not lose sight of the tunnel target. I keep it up until I down the target or the body blocker, possibly downing both if I do it right.

-if I down my tunnelling target and they're dead on hook, I DONT hook them. I patrol the area and wait for the unbreakable or for someone to try and save them. They're perfect bait because they're much so valuable to the team alive that they will almost always abandon gens to save them. I hit people that try to rescue and continue to camp the slug until an injured surv tries to rescue, they stop trying, or I get another down. Then I hook the person whos not dead on hook and continue to camp the slug until they almost bleed out.

-another important thing to keep in mind is to cause misinformation. If you are chasing and know where someone is repairing, break the chase and pretend to go for the gen, the double back and surprise the person you were chasing. It adds an element of surprise AND the chased surv will tell the repairing surv that you're coming, often making them flee the gen, buying some time. There are other similar mind games you can play.

-expect cocky flashlight, head on, or pallet saves. Use their cockiness to your advantage. Bait them into using it and punish them for it. Agitation and mad grit are a perfect combo for SWF because they will be more likely to try and save each other from getting hooked

that's a fair point, but I'd prefer to not have to result to tunneling every match (or most matches) to get a 4k. Adversely, I'd like as a survivor to not have to run with anti-slugging perks all the time. The point I'm trying to make here is that SWFs throw off the balance of the game and force everyone to play with the same 10 perks over and over again.

First, I want everyone in this thread to pretend that I'm not a Trusted Member because regardless if I was or not, that doesn't change my opinion one bit.

Now, with that said, I have to agree with @MandyTalk on a post she made, it was well said and explained exactly how I feel about these types of topics:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/981/RKX0IBX7CF92.jpg

While I can agree the developers aren't perfect, you can't assume they want $$$ just because they decide to nerf killers. As Mandy said, the developers do a lot for both sides, it's not a "Developers like survivors", "Developers like killers", or "Developers like money" type a situation at all. It's more of, "The developers are thinking about the players" type of situation when they changed Ruin because let's be honest, who would want to face a P3 Killer with the best perks as a new player? Even as a console player where FPS is terrible, you couldn't hit greats even if you wanted to, which lead to Ruin being twice as strong on console.

I know, it sounds like I'm rambling on about how much I support the developers choice in nerfing Ruin, but I'll give a conspiracy theory:

    • Previous Roadmap: New Mechanic — The End Game Collapse.
    • Current Roadmap: New Mechanic — Second Objective?

I don't think the developers would make such a choice without planning to solve the consequences, especially when 80% uses Ruin (that obviously shows a problem). 😁🤗

I feel as though you don't actually play the game. Why on earth would a P3 killer be facing off with a new player in the first place? Think about it, there are only 2 reasons. 1: swf with a high rank (purple or red) buddy 2: the killer hasn't played in so long that they've depiped to get those new players. BHVR screwed up matchmaking when they decided not to take the average of ranks anymore and instead used the highest ranked person in the swf to match on. that's not the killer's fault for getting a new player, it's the survivor. This game has been out for 3 years now and ruin has been there the majority of the time. 3 years, survivors have dealt with ruin and played through it. If this was an issue, it would have been an issue when they changed ruin a few months ago from affecting different amounts of people depending on the level to affecting everyone.

This isn't about "new" players, this is the developers not listening to the community as a whole and they'll be left wondering what happened to everyone in about 2 months time. I'm a software developer irl and I can say I've never seen a game or company deploy code as sloppy as BHVR. I've seen countless games and companies roll back a new deployment because of a bug in the code. Does BHVR? nope, keep it in the game for a few months it'll be fine. Matchmaking is so bad, should we fix it? Nope, just remove ranks so they don't see how messed up it is.

Seriously, without LITERALLY any reason to rank up now, what's keeping a P3 killer from just depiping up to rank 20 and slaughtering every new player that starts up the game? the answer is nothing.

This isn't just about ruin, this is about all the neglect this game has received over the years. I GUARANTEE you that if the ruin nerf goes live it'll kill the game.

  • @not_Queen I'd love to be able to attend if possible, I'd really like to put some faces with names I've heard a lot about.

  • @xmidnitejokerx@xmidnitthey totally should but I dont know that they will.

  • @HazeHound you have a valid point, what can I do to help put your mind at ease? I did work hard on this and just want to share it without people thinking its a virus.

Also as a software developer, you realize that just because something is web based doesnt mean its safe either.

  • @weirdkid5 I hope you enjoy it, let me know if you have any issues!

  • also @GMan79 I used your spinning logo as part of the design. I'm hoping you'll allow me permission to do so. If not, that's totally fine I just thought it looked really awesome.

  • I felt bored

I know this thread is old, but I'm interested in using this with a project I'm working on. I'd give you total credit for the work. Please let me know.

  • @DeserterKalak This question has already been answered in another thread called "Streamer Privileges" basically, if you dc enough times during a certain period of time, you'll automatically get banned.

The DCing epidemic is simply brought on because survivors don't care anymore. The vast majority of survivors can't pip anymore so what's wrong with DCing? I lose 2 pips instead of 1 but I save 10 mins and cause the killer to depip as well? I'm not saying it's right, but as long as behaviour continues to run with this pip system, the more it'll happen.

@se05239 lol your very funny to think that survivors are "precious" as this game has 100% favored killers since the halloween update last year. Here are a few examples:

Special events require survivors to complete additional tasks in order to get reward points, killers for the most part just need to hook people (with exception to the Chinese new year event)

nerfed Self care to slower speed, combine that with sloppy butcher and it takes FOREVER to heal.

nerfed DS into the ground, it just turned camping/tunneling killers into camping/tunneling/slugging killers

Nurse, Legion and the Plague all break the normal pallet looping meta. Literally nothing can be done against a tunneling Legion or plague.

speaking of pallet looping, they removed several more pallets from each map.

removed the number of hooks offering making it almost impossible to wiggle free unless closest hook is broken/sabo'd.

Several glitches affect survivors i.e. the "wiggle glitch" that causes a survivor to slow down/stop every few seconds because the game says I have to wiggle (literally happened again last night)

more generator affecting perks with the plague update, literally 3 gens can't even be touched until the effect wears off. Some maps, that literally cuts the playing field in half.

Yes survivors do have MoM for the moment. I say for the moment as I'm sure it'll get nerfed into the ground like everything else in the survivor arsenal.

I have a lot more examples if you'd like as well.

  • I've seen record dc's (in red ranks) since this update. This new ranking system is straight garbage and it's killing the game imo. What will compound this issue is on the 13th when rank reset happens. I'm currently rank 4 (normally rank 1) and I can't wait to get paired with a fresh rank 12/13 killer when the reset happens. I will completely crush any hope he has of getting better at this game and make him give up trying.

The que's for rank 1 currently as killer are terrible as no survivors really can make it there anymore which means killers will move up to ranks that they can get more lobbies with, everyone will move up and there will be a bubble around 15-7 that no one will move beyond. New players will get slaughtered and just give up. Just wait and see.

  • most likely it was a swf, that being said the whole rank/matchmaking system is pretty broken at the moment so don't expect things to get better anytime soon.

  • your not alone my friend. Killers and survivors are depiping like crazy. Rank 10 will be the new rank 1 with how broken the current system is. They went too far with the rank system and I'm afraid it will just kill the game.

  • @TheBean I'm sure a rework needed to be done but why not just affect the lower ranks i.e. 5-1? allow players to reach rank 5 and then it's set to "hardcore" mode or whatever then you can have the best of both without sacrificing.

  • @TheBean I've only been playing since October of last year so I'm not too familiar with how the point system was but what was wrong with that system to where they needed to change it to this? I really don't see what was the problem with the current system as it at least allowed you to make a mistake once in a while and not suffer for it.

  • @TheBean tunneling will definitely be an issue, as you said it "the killer HAS to hook 9 times in red ranks" which means most will proximity camp until the survivor is unhooked and the killer gets another hook quickly.

Not only that, but certain killers especially at high ranks, were almost non existent because they couldn't down people fast enough. With the rank system being even harder, at higher ranks you will end up finding the same killers over and over again running the same perks over and over again because that's what has to be done to pip or safety. It's already bad enough in that regards, I think this just makes it worse.

  • I'm watching a killer right now that had two people dc in his game and he is already saying it's an auto depip.

  • @jackkn12 I'm not upset but I have played this game for a while now. I know that if I were new and popped into lobbies with much higher skilled killers/survivors from the start, I wouldn't keep playing.

I don't see why there isn't a system where it makes it a bit more difficult to pip but rewards skilled players with more blood points for reaching red ranks. I've even suggested a system where the entity takes away OP perks for both survivor and killer in red ranks for the reward of higher blood points. Just making things overall harder for people to spread out will cause a bubble effect that will end up being very toxic.

  • @snowflake102 said:

The update is fine I wouldn't worry to much. Things should quiet down soon:)

I doubt it, without being able to distance yourself from the overly toxic killers/survivors that aren't good enough to make the higher ranks, personally i don't know if I'd keep playing.

Binding it to your mouse wheel is not bannable. If it was, you just wouldn't be able to bind it in the first place. Clicking it with your mouse wheel doesn't really do anything except make noise.

There used to be an exploit people could do by using a macro that would click it so fast that it would break the game. That has been fixed (some say it can still happen, but I have not received any reports of it recently and I used to see them all the time). Also, in order to do it that way, you would literally have to click it a thousand times per second, so call me a pessimist but I don't think you'd be able to pull that off with the scroll wheel.

If someone does actually manage to DC everyone with it these days, it is an exploit and it is bannable.
Ok so if someone bound it to their mouse wheel, then spun the wheel to make it click very fast, that's not bannable correct? Unless it actually caused the game to crash.
  • Lol that's why I'm asking because nothing in the rules specifically says mouse wheel but if you gain an unfair advantage because of it, one would think it would be.

first time poster... let me save you some grief... the forum is en echo chamber for toxic players, killer and survivor alike.

you won't enlighten anyone and your IQ may drop from frequent attempts to have rational discussion.

that said there are a few bright lights here. you'll figure out which ones to ignore and which ones have more than two brain cells with time.

Clearly you are right, all I'll say is that time will tell whether or not people continue to play the game. Currently there aren't many games (decent games anyways) that are like dbd but a few are coming up fast. You can say I'm wrong all day long but we'll see where loyalties are when there are more options available.

@Dwight_Confusion "Sure there's still bugs" in normal real life jobs aren't acceptable. Having to remove an entire map from every console within 48 hours of release isn't a good sign. The PTB is specifically there to remove major bugs and I'd consider players dcing from the entire game because of the map as a HUGE bug. The level of glitches/bugs I've seen since the release screams at me that this game is no longer a top priority to the company but simply a way to keep people's wallets open. I could totally be wrong and I hope this isn't the case but as a software developer myself this simply shouldn't happen.

    ....

Sth needs to be done about toxicity for sure, but tunneling and camping is not toxic. Actually guys like you prevent the system to work properly by spamming false reports

And yes the rank system is a poor joke

I'm curious if you feel as though survivors can't be toxic either. This topic is a revolving door. I say it's toxic to tunnel and camp, as a result every survivor runs with DS and purple flashlights. Technically, neither side is "illegal" but just garbage playing in my opinion. Survivors are penalized for grabbing other survivors off of hooks, to discourage farming, but does a killer receive the same penalty for re-hooking so quickly? If a survivor dc's, the killer gets awarded points for the dc. The survivors however are now at a disadvantage trying to finish 5 gens with 3 people. No points are given for a dc to a survivor. If a killer dc's, survivors lose their offering and are safe from a depiping but again the rank doesn't matter so the killer doesn't lose anything whereas depending on the offering, survivors could lose a couple thousand BP on an offering they never actually got to use.

The tunneling/camping problem could be solved the same as it is with a survivor standing still for too long. If a killer sits inside (say a 15 meter range) of a hooked survivor for too long, they get penalized. Similar to a survivor getting crows over their heads. If a survivor gets penalized for farming someone off a hook, the killer should receive a similar penalty for rehooking the same survivor within say 10 seconds of being taken off.

This still allows the killer to down the survivor if they choose, to go back to them after 10 seconds, but gives the survivors an opportunity to make a play to save them. If that is too much, then give the survivors the ability to reject someone who is clearly going to farm them, I'd rather stay on the hook for additional time if it means when I do get taken off, I'm a little bit safer.
