You're being silly.
Firstly, go watch some of the recent HCS streams. Survivors are killing it.
Secondly, my butt you played killer since the beginning - because if you can honestly say that with stuff like OoO, DS, DH, MoM, insta blinds, perma sabos and every map having places where you couldn't be picked up, you're being deliberately disingenous.
Thirdly, Dead Hard was used almost 75% at higher MMRs. This perk was absurd.
Finally...complaining about BBQ auras...wat.

I see plenty. But most of them are correctly pointing out that you can't balance this game around solos and SWF - someone has to lose out.
Solo needs some help, but you can't just buff solo out the wazoo.
Beyond this - yeah, no. With posts like this:

and this:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3104879#Comment_3104879
in this thread alone, can you blame killer players for being a bit defensive?
What makes me annoyed about this patch is that the developers should have known the massive gap between swf and solo. Yet they prioritise this instead of making the gap smaller.
I get it, both things have to be done. But before we can get a proper adjustment to solo, solo players will just suffer bad for what seems like months after reading what Mandy replied the other day about “taking time”.
The devs did this in good spirit I’m sure, but it is overkill what they did. This is now a horrible experience playing solo.
Salt is added when opinions of this is met with laughter by other players basically saying “suck it”. I can understand it.
-
Every killer I meet is using some sort of gen regression perk. I can’t blame them, those are the strongest ones..

I visibly cringed when I saw that video and the tweet it was referencing. It's genuinely embarrassing some of the crackpot theories certain streamers are entertaining as if there's some collective shadow council of survivors / killers who's sole purpose is to manipulate the kill / escape rates. Jesus wept, talk about lazy, clickbait content.
It really isn't hard, too many changes were made at once and the "unfun" aspects of the gameplay (camping / tunnelling) were not sufficiently offset by changes to the survivor basekit, combined with further nerfs such as the DS stun reduction. Doesn't make the DC's / suicides the right thing to do or justified in any shape, but if they have instant queues and stand to gain nothing from the current match...why wouldn't someone go next?
This is what a culmination of "I don't have to care about your fun" combined with fundamental problems in the core gameplay being ignored has led to. However, that certainly isn't being helped by certain streamers giving credence to some of the stupidest takes I've seen.
100% agree.
I truly believe the changes was done in a good spirit by the devs but all in all it is an overkill and nerfs solo to the ground, which was already the worst gaming experience of DbD even before the patch. It basically shows their lack of knowledge.
I can’t believe the devs didn’t address the gap between solo and swf before releasing this patch. Good swf groups will always manage, the majority of survivor players playing solo are being laughed at while they suffer.

You got 5 gens done. That’s a rare occasion for my games.

You have to think twice before popping a gen now. Which is good. Sadly the timer is a bit too short to get a use of it most times if you don’t kick the first gen you get to. Maybe the timer should be increased to 60 seconds again.
And I’m saying this as a solo q main :(

For reference, the site does track percentages for each kill bracket as well (0, 1, 2, 3 and 4) and the spread is about 23% 0 kills, 19% 1 kill, 14% 2 kills, 15% 3 kills and 29% 4 kills. So just about half the matches eiher everybody escapes or everybody dies, and the rest are a mix of escapes and deaths. It tends to the extremes but not nearly as much as being all or nothing 50% no kills and 50% no escapes.
And a 7% increase isn’t problematic assuming the devs are aiming for 56% kill rate and not 49% kill rate overall. They said a few times they felt the kill rate was too low and one of the goals of the patch was to raise it. Going from being slightly survivor sided in their opinion to slightly killer sided is totally fine.
Of course in a game like this there are all sorts of things that come into play, including specific killers used and loadouts and maps and swfs and backfills creating MmR mismatches, etc. But I’m fairly sure their plan is put in the broadscale changes in this patch to shift the overall stats to where they want them, let it settle a bit, then fine tune the specific cases that are a bit out of whack. So get all the killers boosted a bit then pare back things like STBFL or Legion + Thana, etc, as needed.
Keeep looking at those numbers all you like, it will not change how people are feeling playing this game. That is what matters.
There is an enormous gap between people on coms and solo q. Too big. What this patch did was stomping on the casual player-base which makes up the biggest portion. And thus there will be angry people speaking up.

Makes me wonder how large of a killer que the developers are okay with until they actually do something.
They won’t do anything “until the dust settles”. I guess when the dust settles they have to start advertising again to gain a new player base :)

Camping doesn't need to be punished. It's avalid strategy. The only thing is it might be too effective and against some killers there's not a lot of room to actually go for the save. So there's a warrant to nerf the strategy so it's less effective overall, but no need to punish it.
The devs have said some time ago that they don’t like how camping is so rewarding and are working on a fix. They just don’t know how, so I guess it will take time to come up with it.
-
Have a nice break, hope to see you back soon :)

Way to ignore everything else I said, gj
I wonder what killers would say to a survivor perk that stunned the killer for 2 minutes, only being able to look around and swing with your weapon in the air?
Isn’t that technically what camping killers are doing to the survivor on the hook?

Survivors throwing the game away is an indication of hopelessness and a wish to just end the game or give up. That is what’s happening in my games. There are times where the killer has 7 hooks and 4 gens left. No progress on gens and the game is lost - the solo mentality then is to give up and move on to the next game rather than spending 10 minutes trying to finish a gen just to die again, just like the match before and the one before that and so on.
This “throwing the game” is likely just a reaction, like killers before felt they had to camp to get kills. Justified by Killer mains as a valid reason because gens where being done too fast. Camping is just throwing the game away for everyone just like giving up and DC’ing. When you decide to camp a survivor at 5 gens left, the game is over for that survivor and the game becomes an M1 simulator for everyone else.
-
Try pull this off at the right spot:
Deception, Quick and quiet, Lithe, Dace with me.
The Killer will look for you for hours haha.

People just need some time to adapt. Player count is also increasing. Which is a good sign. I´m confident, that in 1 or 2 weeks, people complain about the same stuff, they did before the patch.
Let's hope!

The queues are slowly going back to normal. Yesterday evening, i had to wait 2 minutes at most as killer. I´ve noticed from solo queue, that my teammates also start to play normal again. Which is a good sign. All in all, i´d wait another week to see how everything goes. Especially with the bonus bloodpoints coming back.
Ye, I played my first matches with the new patch last night. Instant queue as survivor. Didn't notice a big difference in tunneling/camping or DCing tbh, although I might have been lucky. Game was much harder though, with quick chases in general. I only escaped 1 out of 8 matches where the Killer made a big mistake at the end and gave up a decent 3 gen. Most rounds was 4Ks at 3 +/-1 gens left.
Will try out some Killer games as well before I make a conclusion for my own.

That the amount of people wanting to play during prime time, is higher for survivors than it is for killers. Prime time is what matters the most, as thats the time when most people aren´t working and can choose to play whatever role they prefer.
Now in regard of the friends, this implies, that SWF is the predominant role during prime time. Or at least so high, that it affects survivor queues.
Either way, this leaves 2 possible outcomes: 1. SWF is much higher than we think or 2. killer wasn´t in a good spot. Both lead to the same result, since SWF has a higher escape rate.
This we can agree on.
My point being that before the patch SWF was by far the dominant role, followed by killer and then solo q which in general and objectively is looked at as the weaker part. People would in general most likely want to play the dominant part. After the patch, SWF and Killer seem more equal, while solo now is way behind. People would much rather play killer than solo q - which is now mirrored by the queue time.
-
@Tsulan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3090131#Comment_3090131
The role they can´t play with their friends? People have archive challenges for both sides. People have dailies for both sides. Unless you want to miss out on half the game, its best advised to play both sides. I wouldn´t play killer, when my friends are waiting to play together with them. Would you?
So by your first comment "Since survivors had long queues before the patch, what does that say about the status of the game?", Your logic is that people have friends?
-
@Tsulan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3090101#Comment_3090101
No, this just tells me, that people that have time to play during the day, don´t have friends that are also available to play during the day. Because... they have jobs.
And those that have time to play would rather play?
-
@Tsulan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3088770#Comment_3088770
That people have jobs?
That people have jobs? Really?
This tells you that people would rather play Killer than solo q even before the patch. At night when your friends are online you would rather play SWF.
After the patch Killer is closer to SWF level and solo is so far behind that people would rather not play it.
-
It was a mistake to fix this beauty.

I see your point but I believe you are a little bit off there.
Before the patch Survivor queue was instant and killer queue was long during daytime, it changed some time in the evening when the SWF’s started playing.
What does that tell you?
-
@Marigoria said:
Somehow killers would still find excuses to camp and tunnel in solo only mode.

I've been enjoying running Hope, No One Left Behind, BT, and Desperate Measures. It really helps getting end game saves (gives a lot of points too) and Desperate Measures helps get heals on teammates who really need it throughout the whole game.
I've noticed in a lot of my games as soloq that games that we escape are ones where 1-2 people have Prove Thyself and usually I have to stay injured. I trust myself enough in chase that if the killer is really putting a lot of pressure on the team, I'll just stay injured and try to pressure gens. Resilience would probably also be a good perk if you feel comfortable staying injured.
I'm a really altruistic survivor, hence why I'm okay with a build that isn't focused on gens or chase. I've noticed though that the games I have escaped, the other 3 survivors might have been 2 queued or 3 queued, which would make sense. It seems like successful games require at least 2 people good in chase, 2 people with prove thyself, and a killer who isn't camping/tunnelling.
Thanks! I really enjoy resilience as well. Happy Hope got buffed.

Not for solo queue, but as a killer main I’ve been having fun using a Juggernaut loadout on various killers
- Endurance - faster pallet stun recovery
- Brutal Strength - break pallets and walls and gens faster
- Fire Up - Even faster breaks and faster vaults and pickups (side note, that also can mess up the timing of flashlight blind attempts as a bonus)
- Bamboozle - Even faster vaults plus blocks the vault afterward
Basically you just force every pallet and block every strong vault. You have to be a bit careful to make sure you’re pressuring the gens early and not getting sucked into a long chase too soon, but by midgame if you’ve kept them busy enough you’ll have wrecked so many pallets that there’ll be a lot of nice dead zones for easy downs and with Fire Up going you can even go through windows as fast as a medium survivor vault. It’s pretty fun once it gets going. 🙂
I liked this build pre-patch but wasn’t able to really do it that often since all my characters were Prestige 1 or 2 with 30-40 perks, but post patch unlocked everything on everybody so I can do it on anyone I want now. Plus the 10 extra seconds and gens and faster recovery speeds also helps the build last long enough to get to that point it’s firing on all cylinders.
Cool!
I will definitely get to Killer loadouts after I’ve tried some surv games.

They are strong but only as long as Survivors don't heal, anti-slug perks and they don't work well together as a team.
When you meet Survivors with We Gona Live Forever, CoH and medkits you will be glad you can even pick up someone lol.
Any healing, antislug perks are their biggest enemy which all of these are very common.
That goes for a lot of killers though. I feel The Twins is harder to counter than a lot of other killers. Solo survivors struggles a lot.

Indeed they are very strong. Which is why almost everyone has them in A tier in their tier lists.

Bind look left and right to Q and E, that helps with some Killers, especially Billy.
