Penalizing people for playing with their friends is not the solution. It already takes 90 seconds to complete a gen solo. In order to see any meaningful impact, you would need to change that to 120 seconds when playing against a SWF. This would result in kill rates going up across the board, and killers getting some heavy nerfs.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3768508#Comment_3768508
It is punishing people for playing with their friends, though. You're penalizing them on the basis that they are playing with their friends.

You are free to believe what you want, but the official stats come straight from bhvr themselves. As a reminder, the statistics are global and not isolated to one particular region. A 4-man SWF has an overall escape rate of 43%, which increases to 48% at high MMR.
Something to note about high MMR is that survivors are not playing casually. They're playing to win. They will employ every means necessary to that end. The same applies to killer. Nobody at high MMR is playing casually. The only thing someone at high MMR cares about is winning.
I'm a survivor main. I dabble in killer occasionally. I'm in the OCE Region, and games often feel very sweaty on account of the lower population despite being around average MMR. I care more about having a fun experience than I do about winning, and a fun experience for me is simply not being tunneled or camped.
and once again, the stats do not tell the full story. and im tired of trying to explain why. I'll just point at skull merchant at this point.

I was in a match all 8 escape some killers don't work well with each other.
I think its more the missing slowdown on gens that breaks killers in this mode. Like ive played 2 games so far as killer, 1 was a 8k swipe where we got pretty equally "hooks" spread between the two of us and the other was a like 3 or 2k or something

Now if it was a pop up for insurance, a VPN or G Fuel etc… then I would definitely be VERY angry
oh so nice you can choose to not see it again, thanks for rubbing it in my face. I cant, it keeps showing up every time i boot.

Some people get so angry at the most trivial things. Like how is it predatory to advertise a game briefly on a loading screen that's made by BHVR & actually has a direct link to DBD, but as a single player horror game?
Get a grip of yourself 😂
Its predatory to keep giving me the pop up even though i have put the checkmark. How can you not understand such a basic thing?

I wouldn't mind getting this kind of awareness ad when it's released, but being asked to preorder it was a bit gauche. I wouldn't have really raised an eyebrow except for it feels DBD has gotten much more marketing-forward this past year or two; the FOMO cosmetics, the UI turning everything into the store, putting weekly freebies in the store so that people come and look, etc.
yeah maybe if it was alredy released i wouldve seen it in a diffrent light also. I personally dont get the need for fomo cosmetics either, like they can make money off of cosmetics no matter what, if people like the cosmetics they will buy them eventually.
I for example have a monthly limit i put on myself to spend for games. When bhvr comes around with cosmetics but they are only available for a period of time, it depends if my limit aint reached yet wheter im buying them or not, if the cosmetics are not available next month and i had'nt bought them yet, bad luck i guess. Fomo doesnt work well on cosmetics i believe, it shows these marketing strategysts dont understand gamers in the slightest lol. I guess it will even get some people to not buy anything out of spite.
The UI is downright bad, ruining the character selection and hiding custimizations tab for no reason, it was completely fine before. -

Where would you say is the 90/10 coming from though? When I first started playing the game I would've probably called it a 90/10 all day long without even looking for any evidence. But these days I don't really see it that way anymore. I just see good players on both sides and both sides tend to win some/ lose some.
I think I see it different in that some people see swf as having a huge advantage over solo and I can agree with that part to some extent. What I don't agree with is that 4 man, high MMR swf having an advantage = swf is super strong. It just means they have a better chance than solo but doesn't mean they are going to stomp killers. Both sides can make mistakes and in many instances it may just mean that one side was better than the other or matchmaking went wonky.
Now, talking about individual killers is a different story. But there's a line between making some killers at high MMR viable, and keeping them fun for everyone else to play as or against. I feel the same way about any top tier swf being matched up against a killer wanting fun but that speaks more on the matchmaking and how it works.
At the end of the day though this is just what I play and see. I have no way of saying it's the reality of it just like I can't say your 90/10 is wrong. I can go by bhvrs stats but even those have lots of variables that can swing to each side.
From my own experience, there is 0 you can do as a killer when the 4man swf is communicating your position, even enough when they moderatly point it out they dont have to do it every second. By the time you reach their spot they have alredy started running away, you go back, same on the other side. Thats why i dont believe 4 man swf escape rate is as low as the polls show, but maybe not all 4 mans are communicating like that.
But it doesnt really matter, swf is to stay anyway and i think the game was in a better state when killers still had some form of slowdown perks, gen speeds are a little bit too fast right now. But its definitly not as bad as couple of years ago -

In a 2v1 situation like that, it entirely relies on basically both of the Killers sucking or playing really, really poorly. On most loops, the only thing necessary is to just have one of the Killer counter-loop to pinch the Survivor from both sides, it really has no counterplay other than praying that the Killer fumbles really bad.
Yeah they collided with each other due to lack of discord, they kept running together but you could tell they were not communicating.
@MaTtRoSiTy said:
This is only really possible if the killers are both completely inept noobs, against experienced killers there is literally no counter as they can pincer you so all your possible escape routes are cut off. Sure you might evade for a few seconds and pull off a lucky move but basically you're going to go down
I thought the event was more survivor sided than I conclude it is after many matches and facing coordinated killers and I have to say being double teamed by killers is not a good feeling as it robs you of any possible counters
But lets not pretend that 7 gens for 8 survivor is any fairer. And no slowdown, gens get rushed out like crazy. This mode is not meant to be taken competetively.

As HaunterofShadows mentioned above, many people don't follow the game on social media or keep up with livestreams. We still want to let them know that there is a new game coming in the DBD universe in case it's of any interest to them.

I wont play trapper again btw, did it only for the tome, he is way too slow even though his traps come in play later on, i rather play it safe. Takes 20+ minutes to find a match though so idk i will probably play survivor more in this mode. -

It doesn't mean wins are rare though. It could mean several 3-4ks, several 0-1ks, and a couple 2ks. Or it could be 2ks across the board. It could also mean a bunch of losses for one player but a bunch of wins for another. Balancing out overall to 50%.
I do agree that what we have with 4 man swf, at top MMR, is pretty close to a 50/50. That's if we go by behaviors stats. Which I am willing to do in this case, though I'd like to see them updated more often.
They can try things to help out the solo queue experience. I just think while there is only one game mode, and survivors can play how they want, that 60/40 is fine for everything else.
My issue here is that some people think a 4 man swf, at high MMR, should be brought down to that 60/40 level. When there is no real reason too. The thematic experience is pretty much gone at that point and the scare factor thrown out the window. So being close as it is to a 50/50 balance when both sides are trying their hardest, seems fine to me.
top mmr SWF is more like a 90/10 than anything, ofc people want it down. But it aint gonna happen anyway, there is no possible way, they would need to make special mmr rules for top 5% mmr but then again people would actually KNOW what mmr they have (roughly at least) and BHVR dont want that either.

No I didn't say that. Inversely, as a horror game, I think the challenge should be on survivors to escape and the killers should be oppressive / intimidating / scary.
but then why are you unhappy with the current 60/40 balancing?
-
I feel like we should focus on gen speeds on the survivor side, like it has been done on the killer side too.
Windows is not that big of a diffrence to experienced players, i can loop quite ok without it and there is many people that can loop mutch better than me. Windows is a convienient thing to know which loop to take, yes this is an advantage but not as big as people make it sound to be.. Deadzones can be created still. I'd say alert and any means neccessary are mutch stronger info perks even though they are slept on.
The gen speeds in general are the far bigger issiue. -
@Dreamnomad said:
Sorry OP, but it is not as simple as you make it sound. Whether or not a survivor should leave requires a more complex decision tree than just "Is door open? y/n if yes then leave". You need to factor in how many survivors are still in the trial. If one player is being chased and there are 2 or 3 other survivors still in the trial then the polite thing to do is to wait near the door and body block for the survivor if they make it that far. If the survivor gets hooked, then the remaining survivors should heal up and attempt a rescue. If there is one survivor being chased and only one other survivor left in the trial, then yes, the correct play is to leave so that survivor has a chance at finding the hatch since a one person rescue is pretty impossible if the killer stays near the hook.
Oh we alredy evaluated that. But im glad you repeated what i myself said so it looks like i dont understand what im talking about.
The thing im talking about, and i gotta repeat this the 3rd time in this post now, is people not leaving in the situations when they really should, just to teabag the killer. -

No, Wraith feels great. I mostly stay on the opposite from my teammate side of the map to pressure gens by hit'n'running. And only when there are 1-2 gens left we sometimes team up of we are close.
Well, sometimes huntress can help me in chase if they see an aura of a survivor chased bt me, but that's it.
Been playing whole evening. Yet to lose at least 1 match.
I kinda wish killers had more of an incentive to stick to getter tbh, but the maps are way too big for that. But smaller maps with that many folk would get straight out claustrophobic lol.

@Moonras2 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3767610#Comment_3767610
Im sorry I may not be coming across how I mean it. To me they have already pretty much done 50/50. If high level 4 mans are at a 48% escape rate then that's pretty close to a 50/50.
I'm not saying that average matches or players should be the 50/50 as you can't control what random teammates or players will do. Even without the horror aspect coming into play, 60/40 seems fine to me in this regard. Unless they force survivors to play a certain way I don't know how solo queue could ever really change without making survivor too strong.
I think the 50/50, or even the 48 it was the last we saw, is fine for high level. That's putting high MMR killers, who are probably playing higher tier characters, against high MMR survivors who are actually playing as a team.
Im also not sure where the 0-1k comes from with this.
So you all DO understand that the current balancing is closest to "50/50" we can get, good.
Because i dont understand, on one hand people say "why not balance for 50/50" implying they think the current 60/40 is too killer favored just because the numbers look inbalanced but fail to take the asymmetrical part in the aspect. If we were to apply 50/50 to the same ruleset then the balance simply shifts much mor radically into the survivors favor. Thats where the 0-1k comes from because we have an average killrate at 2.5 right now, its kinda obvious if you lower the killrates and higher the escapes to a 50/50 level, then ofc that means less sacrifices per match. Even if its 1-2k on average that means wins are rare for the killer side.
Elanos gave a good insight on why it is 60/40 all though i dont get the second part of the post because its contradicting the first one. -

I am begging people to understand that a 1v4 game being 50/50 means both sides having equal chance of winning and not 1 killer fighting 4 killers.
Kills will never average 0 or 1. On a 50/50 asymmetrical game, you'll get 2 kills most of the time, 3+ for a win or 1 or less for a defeat.
The only reason this game doesn't balance around 50/50 is because the devs are stubborn and believe in competitive ladder climbing for this game, which makes ties feel like wasted matches, which means they balance around 4ks or 0ks, no middle ground. (And I personally think this is THE WORST option for balance)
So… the case how it is right now? because that is my average kills per match. 2. not more not less..

lol. Thats due to the fact for the first time in 8 years you can que with a friend as killer. Ofc people will use that rather than playing survivor, has nothing to do how strong or weak either role in that mode is.
-
My first match (that was just before) was actually as hilbilly because i wanted to know if there are any upsides.
The map traversal is nice if you need to cover an area you know there are people around, also you can catch up quite well because there is no perks.
I still think the instadown removal is overnerfed af. But at least he has SOME upsides.

Maybe.
But regardless you're not going to get what you're asking for here. Killers and survs alike have been shouting "Just leave" to stragglers for years. It isn't gonna start now; you might as well ask water to stop being wet.
99% of the time you get hatch, it's going to be because the other three survs are dead.
If we were never to call out the BS just because it didnt work before, nothing would change ever and thats not only in DBD but in general.
I wasnt expecting to be the changing factor with my post, had to vent about it still. And as a secondary effect i got a tip aswell. -

Why? Their stats are not showing far from it. To be clear I know there's more to the stats than just the number. I'm not talking an exact number.
I think part of the problem is that the game isn't just a 1vs4 in my eyes. As killer, I feel like it's a 1v4. As a solo survivor, it can feel like a 1v1, v2, v3 ,or v4. This is also where I think 60/40 is fine. It's impossible to balance around random players doing random things
However, it appears 4 mans at high MMR are closer to a 50/50. May not be exact but I would say is in a good spot. This means when the survivors are playing as a team, then it is more evenly balanced. I wouldn't consider this a 1v4. More of 1 killer vs 1 team.
Compared to solo survivors, or swfs that are just playing for fun. Where it could be anything from 1v4 to a 1v1v1v1v1. Sometimes a solo group is even comparable to a good 4 man swf, if they are playing the same game.
Its impossible due to the pure nature of asymmetrical games. If you make both sides equally strong then kills will average between 0 to 1. Killer role HAS to be opressive in order for the game to be remotely balanced, but we dont even have only an imbalance between killer and survivor, we have an inbalance between swf and soloQ + between the killers themselves.
Then there is far too much RNG involved, if you really would want 50/50 balance maps should not hinder either side, certain perks litteraly should be banned from existing and all the killers would need to be streamlined in some shape or form. It would make for a very boring game that way. -
@Thusly_Boned said:
Remember those words when the killer closes the hatch and you have no one left to run interference/body block for you.
Which is almost the entire reason I ever remain in a match when I could just leave.
But regardless, getting hatch is a crapshoot that will just happen organically if you are patient and just let it. Playing for hatch is not advisable, challenge or no.
The killer hindering me to survive is a thing i gotta accept, as its a litteral pvp game and it would be crazy for me to get mad at the killer??? And lets not pretend selfless, as mentioned above if we are only 2 left and gates are open, GIVE HATCH. its not that hard…

Those numbers are from before her buff. The 64% is from nightlight which is notorious for often reporting kill rates that are lower than the official ones.
The thing about killrates is. they tell nothing at all.
Skull merchant is highest because of how many people just give up, doc is lowest because of the afk macro thingy.
Twins is very unpopular, so the majority of twins player that are not in baby lobbys are probably very well versed in them. That doesnt mean twins count as a somehow very strongly and opressive killer, only killer to date i see as uncounterable in some situations is nurse. Anything else comes down to either bad luck (map, perks, teammates) or skill issiue. -
@Laluzi said:
I think people need to be situationally aware of when to leave. If there's four people left in the trial and I don't know where all of them are, I'm going to stay because if someone needs my help, the team should be able to safely extract them. Same if there's three - me leaving at that point isn't going to impact hatch play anyway.
Two people left is where it gets complicated. If I'm injured, I should leave because I can't help the other player, so giving them the possibility of hatch is the best thing I can do. And if we're both healthy, but I don't know where they are and they're not being chased, I should probably leave to open up their options. If we're both healthy and they're being chased but I know they're on the other side of the map, I should also leave because I can't realistically save them and get anyone out, so hatch is the play.
If I'm healthy, though, and they're injured, that becomes the point where I should stay. I can take a hit or go for an unhook. And if we're both healthy, they're being chased, and I hear the terror radius, I should go find them to take a hit and guide them towards the exit.
All of that said, hatch challenges are awful nowadays and teammates waiting to BM at the gate become your worst enemies. You almost need a SWF to do them without a teammate inadvertently screwing you over… and forget about key challenges entirely, ugh.
well spoken, it could be SO easy to determine when to leave and when to not leave. But i felt not even bothering explaining this as i know most people just want to BM the killer anyway, so they'll gladly sacrifice the challenge of their teammates out of pettyness.
Got 1/2 hatch challenges done today (where i need to open it with a key, thats extra hard becuase the killer has to close it first) and it was a farming ghostface. Pointed at him to follow me when all others left and then pointet at hatch, he closed it, i nodded and opened it again, it was a global icon player so i couldnt message them to give my appreciation sadly. Its really only due to mercy of other players or a full swf which i dont have atm.
But i havent seen hatch challenges in the newer tomes, so im glad i wont have to do too much of them. -
@MrMori said:
Most people wait at gates to BM and it kind of sucks to have to walk across the whole map to force them out, sometimes first to one gate, then all the way to the other gate. It's lame, boring and petty. I'd like it if once EGC started, a glyph spawned in basement or something, and the killer could interact with it to give up and end the game. Or just let the killer DC without penalty once EGC starts or something, idk. This would make hatch challenges harder, but you could still get them done if you're the last survivor alive.
But a lot of people are staying at gates to ensure their teammates get out safely, and sometimes several players are doing this while standing across the map from one another. A "soft" solution to this is to make it so if you're in the exit gate area as survivor, you can also see any other survivor in an exit gate area, even across the map. That way, if all survivors are in the exit gate area, they'll see each other and know that everyone is safe, so everyone can leave.
As for getting hatch challenges done, make sure to bring a hatch offering and camp the hatch location once you know everyone is safe to leave, hopefully your teammates will leave early enough for you to get your challenge done.
i know about hatch offering but that doesnt help when people just wait till last second.

Sometimes I come back for the new dlc.
My xbox account says 37 days. Like as in 37 days no breaks. I had thought about trying to become a fog whisperer back when that was a thing, but never managed to find my niche nor did I really enjoy the game enough to exclusively stream it. And my audience never grew. So I've settled into just streaming random stuff as a generic streamer to like 2 or 3 viewers.
My psn account has a few more days to it, but idk.
I used to grind for iridescent shards and red levels. Now I just complete tomes and collect seasonal rewards.
oh so you came back after quite a while, yeah you are totally in low mmr. There is a system now putting you at low mmr after inactivity in the game, until you are back where you used to be.
If you play more actively you will notice your lobbys changeing quite much. -

Seconded, I tried asking this question during Masquerade and got ignored, but during the Chaos Shuffle event it was confirmed that it only took you current MMR and it could not increase/decrease
Sooooo….I guess this counts for 2v8 aswell? Yes? No? Maybe?
I mean it would make sense to have no MMR since this is totally diffrent rules. But would be nice if devs would answer and not just ignore.

I don't play well enough to have a high mmr. Plus it doesn't feel like the game's mmr system even tries. It's not like you can't queue up with an ash 5 player as an iridescent 1 player.
Nothing will force a Macroing doc to chase you. They're not even playing the game. They're watching Netflix and fast vaulting does nothing to them.
There's nothing you can do about a survivor escorting the killer. Especially if they have bond.
Hooking a survivor that is afk and chooses to sepuku the 4% isn't enjoyable gameplay and is unfair to the remaining 3 survivors. I prefer to slug these survivors then carry them on my shoulder. It makes it more fair to the remaining 3. Unless I have iron grasp, agitation, legions carry attack perk, and weskers aura reading perk while carrying. Then it becomes an advantage. Either way I keep the survivor from earning BP and they don't get to leave without struggling.
how many hours do you have even? it wont last forever, getting beyond the limit for low mmr is pretty fast in this game.
And the grades are not your mmr, your mmr is a hidden number which the devs dont share. -
And how often do you face twins?

I could leave it to die if you like.
and how would that be any diffrent from it derailing? My main concern is the challenges that are badly affected by players just never leaving the gates when they have the chance, many will claim they wait to safe their teammates but we all know they just want to annoy the killer. By doing that they set their other teammates up for failure in their challenges too.
